15 Foods you shouldn't microwave at work (for your co-workers' sake)

If you're not sure which foods are likely to produce such aromas, we've compiled a list of some of the worst offenders. Be a good corporate citizen, and avoid these foods when you're reheating your lunch in the office.

1. Popcorn

Popcorn

Image: Giphy

You might be thinking to yourself, "Wait… Popcorn smells good!" It sure does! The mere scent is enough to drive most mortals mad if they can't have some. So bring enough to share with anyone who gets a whiff, or leave it at home. Also, burnt popcorn is one of the worst smells. Ever.

2. Indian food

Curry!

Image: Giphy

Indian food is delicious, but the smell can be overpowering to those not used to it. That's why unless you're sure your co-workers are OK with it, leave the curries at home.

3. Steak

Steak

Image: Giphy

First, don't reheat steak in the microwave anyway! Second, if you do reheat it (or worse, use a stove at your office), your co-workers will be overpowered with the smell of mouthwatering meat or eye-watering char.

4. Ridiculously spicy food

Fiery!

Image: Giphy

Ever heard of pepper spray? Good! Don't make your own at work.

The more-hot spices (think cayenne, ghost pepper, etc.) are delicious if you like that sort of thing, and sheer agony if you don't. If the spice gets airborne, it can mix with the liquid in your eyes and produce a nasty burning sensation. You might love spice of all kinds, but in most offices, there's someone who just doesn't want to deal with it.

5. Gumbo

Gumbo

Image: Giphy

Gumbo's issues lie between popcorn and spicy food. Despite being mighty good (we guarantee!), gumbo smells very strong. This can lead to more people wanting to devour it. However, it can also be very spicy and therefore upsetting to people's eyes, noses and stomachs.

6. Smoky ribs

Bad BBQ pit

Image: Giphy

Yeah, you'd think everyone loves the smell of good barbecue. Heck, it's almost better than the taste. However, when you throw on your bib and nuke your leftover ribs, you're going to waft that odor back into the air. Next thing, your workplace starts to smell like a smokehouse, which you might love, but others probably don't care to get that smoke into their clothes, hair, even skin.

7. Frozen fish

Fish!

Image: Giphy

If you want to reheat catfish, tilapia, etc., you're probably OK. On the other hand, really fatty fish, like salmon or whole trout, can release some funk when they hit the microwave. Besides, who wants to eat a whole fish at work anyway? It's even worse when the fish is frozen. So stay away from fish in general, and go with a less-stinky chicken.

8. Cheese

Burnt cheese!

Image: Giphy

Ever hear the expression "cut the cheese"? It applies to reheating too.

9. Fermented vegetables

Kimchi

Image: Giphy

Kimchee is tangy, spicy, delicious and odoriferous. It's probably OK to eat cold, since there's nothing to waft the smell into the air. Once you nuke kimchee or other fermented veggies, get ready for some grumpy, grumpy co-workers.

10. Bacon

Bacon!

Image: Giphy

Yes, you love bacon. We get it. But when you cook it at work, it reminds us how much we love bacon too. Please, please stop cooking it so we can get back to our bagged salad?

11. Heavily garlicky foods

Shaved garlic

Image: Giphy

Garlic is an aromatic for a reason. Its smell will seek out every nook and cranny of your office and not stop stinking for days. Some people just don't like that sort of thing.

12. Any "borderline" foods

Rotten food

Image: Giphy

If you suspect your food has expired, is deceased or is now home to a colony of something you don't want to think about, then throw it out. Chances are you're right, and you're about to throw a whole lot of foul smell all over your co-workers' nostrils.

13. Apple pie

Apple pie

Image: Giphy

Nothing smells as warm and inviting as apple pie. Unfortunately someone around you is on a diet or just really, really wants a bite, and you probably don't have enough to share.

14. Durian

Durian

Image: Giphy

Durian smells so bad you're not allowed to carry it on buses in Asia. Why would you subject your co-workers to that smell?

15. Brussels sprouts

Bad sprouts

Image: Giphy

Brussels sprouts have enough of a bad rep without constantly reminding everyone that when cooked, they release a nice bouquet of sulfur. Leave the Brussels sprouts at home, and go with something innocuous like green beans.

Bear Grylls just admitted he's not opposed to cannibalism

The star of Man vs. Wild and Bear Grylls: Mission Survive admits that he would have absolutely no qualms about feasting on human flesh if need be.

During an appearance on British ITV's This Morning, Grylls was asked if he would ever resort to cannibalism — and shockingly, he said not only would he, but he would encourage his children to do so as well.

"Of course," he told This Morning hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. "If it was one of my sons and I, left in the jungle, I'd insist he eat me."

More: Bear Grylls and Zac Efron shirtless? This year Christmas comes July 28

"One of the greatest stories ever is Alive," Grylls explained, referencing the true-story book-turned-movie starring Ethan Hawke about a soccer team stranded in the Andes after a horrific plane crash. "The people who died insisted they ate them. I wouldn't think twice about it if I had to."

While Grylls is no stranger to eating really disgusting things — viewers have watched him devour elephant poop, raw goat testicles, a camel's intestinal fluids and blood gushing from the freshly slit throat of a deer, not to mention drink his own pee — this is a bit much, even for him.

Moral of the story: If you ever go hiking with this survivalist, make sure you pack plenty of trail mix.

Modern Family takes modern way too far in upcoming episode

The show is incredibly endearing and makes me yearn for the simpler times when I was Luke and Manny's age, back when my extended family still got together for holidays and special events. It was the period of time just before the iPhone was even a twinkle in Steve Jobs' eye and people didn't sit around with their noses buried in their devices. We made pot holders, played whiffle ball or gathered around as the entire family attempted to balance my grandfather on the unicycle that someone got from Santa for Christmas. Sure, there were squabbles and the only way to catch time away from the rest of the relatives was to fake-nap on a couch tucked away in a corner somewhere, but it was fun and everyone felt included and special.

More: Modern Family cast helped Sarah Hyland get rid of her abusive boyfriend

Time marched on. Feuds were had, people died, cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers and parents moved away, and now it's been almost 10 years since we've all been in one room together. But when I watch Modern Family and spend time with the Pritchett/Dunphy/Tucker clan, I'm whisked back to that period when my family was close. The show has often brought a nostalgic tear to my eye, though I'm quick to wipe it away. I guess I take after Jay in that respect.

So when I heard that an upcoming episode of Mod Fam titled "Connection Lost" was made entirely using iPhones and other mobile devices and features the family interacting purely through video, voice chat, text and email, I was kind of crushed. "Everything was shot on the iPhone 6 or new iPads," said cocreator Steve Levitan, according to the New York Times. "With one or two small scenes shot with MacBook Pros."

Why, why, why would such a charmingly sentimental show create an entire episode that revolves around the technology that is, in my opinion, quickly deteriorating the amount of honest interactions we have with the people around us? The approach is taking away the one thing that makes the show what it is: the story of a family that still revolves around real, human interaction.

Even Gloria learned the hard way back in Season 2 that talking out conflict face-to-face is always the best option, when she accidentally hit "send" on a nasty email to Claire about an upcoming bake sale.

More: Modern Family's Nolan Gould: Julie Bowen is crazy

The reason the show rings so true to me is the Pritchett/Dunphy/Tuckers are modern in that they're dealing with contemporary issues such as gay marriage, adoption, divorce and the blending of families, but they still manage to maintain old-fashioned family values in that they stick together. They love each other beyond belief, yet drive each other crazy at the same time. Those of us who don't have the opportunity to function in that capacity with our family anymore get to live it again through them. Having the group interact through iPhones and iPads cheapens the heart and soul of the program.

Then there's the other elephant in the room: the episode seems like a huge advertisement for Apple products. Levitan insists that compensation was not received for the episode from Apple, though he admits that the company knows about the episode and "loved the idea" so much that they contributed all of the products for the shoot, according to the Associated Press. Levitan also added that it's common for major computer companies to have ongoing relationships with TV shows. There was an episode during the first season in which Phil was obsessed with getting an iPad for his birthday, so clearly there is a history between Apple and Modern Family.

Yes, it is only for one episode and the Dunphy/Pritchett/Tucker clan will likely go on to gather for many a drama-filled BBQ at Jay and Gloria's house and yes, connecting through technology is a convenient way that most families use to stay in touch nowadays. I also understand that shows have to work hard to stay relevant and fresh in today's competitive and rapidly changing entertainment world. There's also no doubt in my mind that Levitan and company will manage to make the episode endearing and entertaining, despite my gripes.

Still, call me archaic, but I want my Modern Family the good old-fashioned way. I want them together and throwing each other in pools and reading Phil's-osophies around the fire, not looking at one another through screens.

Laundry tips for getting rid of the grossest stains

Chocolate stains

The key to removing chocolate stains is to be prepared to act fast when a dessert accident occurs. Allow any chocolate clumps to harden, and then scrape them off with the edge of a spoon. Apply a stain remover product or Dawn dish soap to the stained area and allow to soak for at least 10 minutes. Wash in cold water then hang up to dry to see if the stain has been removed. If the stain is still visible, repeat the above. Once the stain is gone, you can dry according to the fabric's instructions.

Red wine stains

To remove a red wine stain, blot the stain with a paper towel to remove excess wine. Combine one teaspoon of liquid laundry detergent with one cup of hydrogen peroxide. Dip a clean sponge in the mixture and blot the wine stain. Rinse with cold water and repeat until stain disappears. Wash as usual.

Candle wax stains

When blowing out a candle, you can easily blow melted wax onto table linens or onto clothing. To remove wax, allow it to harden. You can speed the hardening process up by placing the material in the freezer or rub gently with ice cubes. Use a butter knife to scrape off hardened wax. Preheat iron to the lowest non-steam setting. Place a plain brown paper bag or brown craft paper under the stained fabric. Place another paper bag or craft paper over the top of the stain. Move the iron in circular motions over the stained area until you see a dark spot, which is the wax adhering to the paper. Replace the paper and iron again. Repeat as necessary until the stain disappears, and then launder as directed.

Period blood stains

When period blood leaks onto your undies or through to your clothing, treat the stains as soon as possible. Use a paper towel to blot excess blood from the clothing, taking care to not scrub the blood into the fabric. Run cold water over the stain to remove excess blood from the fibers. Mix one cup of salt with two quarts of cool water in a large bowl or in the sink. Place clothing in the mixture and let soak for at least 30 minutes. Rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

Vomit stains and odor

The first step to successfully removing vomit stains and the offending odor is to immediately remove the solids and excess liquid. Put on a pair of disposable gloves and scrape vomit into a plastic bag. Tie up the bag and put it in the outside trash can. Rinse clothing or linens with cold water then generously apply an enzymatic cleaner to the vomit stained area. Let fabric sit with cleaner for an hour or more if the fabric is thick or multi-layered. Rinse fabric with cold water, and then apply a stain remover if the stain is still present. Follow directions on the stain remover. Once the stain is gone, launder as usual.

Urine stains and odor

Did your kiddo or pet pee on your attire, bed, furniture or carpet and you don't have any urine-specific cleaning products? Urine stains and odor are notoriously difficult to remove, but a few ingredients you already have on hand will do the trick. In a bowl, stir together 1-1/4 cups of hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup of baking soda and a couple of drops of dish detergent. Let any foam that forms subside, and then transfer mixture to a spray bottle. Spray very liberally on stains and let sit for at least an hour. Rinse clothing or linens with cold water and launder as usual. If urine was on your mattress, furniture or carpet, you may need to repeat. Use a clean towel to blot with water, and then fan or air dry.

Skid mark stains and odor

Before you give up on ever having clean underwear in your home, make sure you're teaching your kids and reminding your mate how to properly wipe so they don't soil their underpants. Until then, run the outside of the underwear under cold water to force the staining particles out of the underwear instead of back through the fabric. Apply an enzymatic cleaner and follow the directions on the product label. Launder as usual.

Cruel burglars steal baby's ashes, mom begs for their return

Alyssa Ruiz came home to her Phoenix, Arizona, apartment on Valentine's Day, only to find the place had been ransacked and items were stolen. While items you'd expect to be taken in a home burglary were indeed whisked away from her home, such as a laptop and a TV, she was shocked to find the box where her infant's ashes were stored upended and empty.

Her baby, Matthew Isaiah Hernandez, passed away nearly eight years ago, and as Ruiz couldn't afford a burial at the time, she had her child cremated and placed in a lovely silver box for safekeeping. The lid of the box was engraved with his name, birth date and a message, and his ashes were nestled inside, sealed within a bag — but the box was upside down, and the ashes were nowhere to be found.

She wants the burglars to return the bag, and she promises she will ask no questions. She just wants her baby back and hopes they will return his ashes to her door. "I feel very violated by what they did," she told Fox 10. "I just want him back."

It's hard to imagine the heartbreak of losing a child in the first place, but then to have his remains stolen on top of that? Unimaginable. It's unfortunately common for urns to be stolen during home burglaries, because they are often made from desirable materials, but I can't imagine why someone would toss aside a box and take the ashes inside for any reason other than to cause further grief for a mourning mother — unless they didn't take the time to read the inscription and thought there was something valuable in the ashes, which is a really terrible thing to think about.

By sharing her story with the media, maybe those responsible will realize what they took and why they should return it. She hopes that those responsible will feel bad about their actions and will return the bag. I'm hopeful too, because even though someone commits an illegal act, they can still have a conscience.

How Nickelodeon is educating your kids in a progressive, important way

It's never been hard for white kids (like me) to turn on the television and find something to relate to, some character that mirrors our lives. Where it gets trickier is for minority kids, kids from unique family situations or kids who necessarily relate to the gender roles society has assigned them.

Nick's new(ish) show, Bella and the Bulldogs, recently caught my attention because of how wildly relatable it is. First there's the adorable Asian-American girl in the cast, someone all girls can relate to. Then there's Bella: while she certainly looks like the usual kids' sitcom lead as a pretty, blonde white girl, her personality is like no other. Bella isn't a cheerleader, she's a football player. How's that for breaking down gender stereotypes?

More: Check out author Nick Hornby's thoughts on gender roles in fiction

The more I thought about it, the more I realized: diversity isn't new to Nick. Nickelodeon has practically led the way in offering programming centered on people who don't fall into the "expected" television identities.

Late '70s – '80s

Nick's reign in kids' television began long before I was born and immediately, hints of its push for diversity were made clear. The would-be network all began with Pinwheel. Vaguely similar to Sesame Street, Pinwheel originally aired on QUBE, a Columbus station that served as a precursor to Nick. While it starred mostly puppets and costumed people, the show was led by African-American George James. Admittedly, it got a little white after that. America Goes Bananaz, Dusty's Treehouse and Livewire all centered on white men. However, another notable casting choice during Nick's upstart days was the narrators on What Will They Think of Next? (dubbed Science International in Canada), which cast a man and two women (Tiiu Leek and Kerrie Keane) to narrate the show and lead kids on a voyage through modern science. Women interested in science: another great job at breaking down gender stereotypes.

The wild '90s

Nick's popularity, its budget and viewership spiked considerably in the '90s, particularly in the latter half. The white male dominance of the '80s quickly became speckled with color and a stronger female presence. Nick's first original series was Hey Dude (you know you remember it), made up of mostly white people, but it did have a token Native American (as all Western-themed shows tend to do), Danny Lightfoot (Joe Torres). Soon after came the very white Are You Afraid of the Dark? and Clarissa Explains It All. Once again, though, Nick tested gender stereotypes by creating in Clarissa a sassy, funky girl with a pet alligator and a penchant for talking back to her parents, even if she did it with the best of intentions. Practically overnight, Clarissa has girls ditching their matching Limited Too outfits, cutting up their brothers' jeans and mixing patterns, much to their mothers' dismay.

More: Nickelodeon announces first Kids' Choice Sports Awards

Nick's biggest example of diversity came in 1994, though, with the premiere of All That. The kid version of SNL, All That featured a collection of young, funny kids from all sorts of backgrounds and stylings. You may even remember that it was All That that served as our introduction to Kenan and Kel. And let's not forget the hysterical Lori Beth Denberg. She not only helped young girls develop their sense of sarcasm but also set an awesome example that even girls with curves could be famous if they worked hard and delivered the lines.

Now

Nick continues to lead the way with diversity. Two of its biggest stars, Ariana Grande and Victoria Justice (Victorious), are of Italian and Puerto Rican decent. And while iCarly wasn't exactly racially diverse, it featured a relatable but entirely non-traditional family where Carly's dad was deployed with the Navy and she was taken care of by her big brother. Her best friend, Sam, only had a mother (and a crazy one at that), and when the show spun off into Sam & Cat, Cat (played by Ariana Grande) was raised by her grandmother. And, while it's not exactly the same thing, it's important to give props to Nick for giving Avatar: The Last Airbender a try instead of sticking to cartoons about monsters, fairies and white kids.

So, I'm absolutely in love with Bella and the Bulldogs for the mix of diversity and gender stereotype breaking it brings to the network. But, I also recognize that it's hardly a new push from the network. Looking back at its history, it's easy to see why my generation is more loving and accepting of "difference" than the ones that came before us. We had Nickelodeon showing us that "normal" covered a wider spectrum of identities than what lived inside our homes.

Amy Schumer was grossly insulted by shallow movie critic (PHOTO)

The Trainwreck star got a taste of how disgusting the biz can be when a critic for Hollywood Elsewhere decided her character was not believable because she is, according to him, not attractive enough to lead a romantic comedy.

"She's obviously sharp and clever and funny as far as the woe-is-me, self-deprecating thing goes, but there’s no way she’d be an object of heated romantic interest in the real world," Jeffrey Wells wrote.

"Schumer's wide facial features reminded me of a blonde Lou Costello around the time of Buck Privates, or Jennifer Aniston's somewhat heavier, not-as-lucky sister who watches a lot of TV. Don't look at me — I'm not the one who made her the star of a film about a plucky, free-spirited girl that a lot of guys want to bang. You know who would be better in a film like this? An actress who's nicely attractive, has the funnies and the soulful stuff besides? Jenny Slate."

Rather than letting Wells' abominably sexist comments slide, Schumer stood up for women everywhere with the most perfect response ever.

The actress later told USA Today that she knows the writer is nothing but a troll and she doesn't let stuff like that faze her.

"I didn't read the thing," she said. "It was such an example of sort of the reason for trolling. It seems like a rewarding experience for people who do that stuff. From the bottom of my heart — I could not care less."

Trainwreck hits theaters July 17, 2015.

It turns out, almost any food is better with a touch of King Cake icing and sprinkles, or a flash of green, gold and purple. But sometimes King Cake gets a little too excited and turns the culinary world upside down — just in time for the celebration.

1. King Cake burger

This King Cake is beautifully decorated, but the best part is the baby that's sliding down the side of it, as if it's ready to run out to Bourbon Street to get in on the action. Screw being stuck to a cake all day!

3. King Cake cheese ball

This King Cake was so flippin' excited for Mardi Gras it forgot to rise. It also forgot to cool off before taking its icing shower, leading to the big ol' puddle-o-frosting in its center. But you know what? During Mardi Gras, anything goes, and this cake still looks pretty tasty to me.

8. Cinnamon roll King Cake

'Adult Wednesday Addams' puts catcallers in their place (VIDEO)

Adult Wednesday Addams tackles catcalling

Adult Wednesday Addams tackles catcalling

An amazing comedian named Melissa Hunter has captured the essence of Wednesday Addams in a series of incredible YouTube videos, where she dubs herself "Adult Wednesday Addams." Her latest video deals with the issue of catcalling, which is a pervasive problem, particularly in larger cities. It's a demeaning, threatening power play that nobody wants to be the recipient of.

After being told by one meathead that she'd be prettier if she smiled, she's then told by the other that she should take a load off and sit on his face. Next, she's peppered with obscenities when she doesn't respond, and they drive off. You can tell by the look on her face as they exit the scene that she's starting to make a plan, and it's pretty badass when it is played out.

She rounds up a troupe of impressive guys ("Bob is the only one who's been institutionalized!" she says) who aren't there to pound their faces in — no, the punishment she has dreamed up plays out another way.

She's not the first woman to tackle the subject of catcalling through a video, and unfortunately she will probably not be the last. There have been experiments conducted to find out what women really experience as they make their way throughout their city, and the results are definitely alarming. A parody catcalling video has also been made, and while the video is hilarious, it's also frighteningly accurate.

Hunter's take is definitely good for the soul (because who doesn't love Wednesday Addams?), but catcalling remains an act of aggression that shouldn't continue to happen. Catcalling is not a joke, and women who don't like it shouldn't be ridiculed because they "can't take a compliment." Catcalling doesn't make women smile, it doesn't make them feel good — it serves to make the catcaller feel superior and in power. It's not so attractive when you put it that way, is it?

On a lighter note, while you're at it, check out the rest of Hunter's fab videos. They are cleverly done and definitely remind me of what Wednesday Addams would be like as a grown-up.

Two women climbed Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for kids' health care

$

From the toasty perch of my living room couch, I learned about Natalia Luis and Cidalia Luis-Akbar, two sisters who set out on a mission to climb the world's highest free-standing mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro in Africa.

And while I raised my mug of hot chocolate to them and wished them the best, I was blown away by the reason behind their miles. Not a journey for self-fulfillment, not a journey to set a record — but a journey for babies in need.

By climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the pair of sisters raised funds with the Fetal Medicine Institute of the Children's National Health System in Washington, D.C., to support earlier, more accurate diagnostics during high-risk pregnancies and help set a new standard of care for fragile newborns.

The journey started as a personal one for Cidalia, who lost her first son, Joseph, after he was diagnosed in utero as being sick. Cidalia went on to lose six other children and battled cancer during her long ordeal of loss.

Then, in 2009, she gave birth to a beautiful and healthy daughter, Sophia, a moment that started Cidalia on a new mission to give back to parents facing high-risk pregnancies. Explaining that the intervention she needed during her first pregnancy wasn't available, Cidalia now wants to bring those necessary medical advances to the District of Columbia and the nation.

"I want more parents to have the opportunity to have healthy children," says Cidalia. "We want to make sure that parents and babies have the medical care they need to lead healthy lives, and we think the Fetal Medicine Institute at Children’s National Health System represents the future for fetal medicine. The focus is diagnosing babies earlier and more accurately during high-risk pregnancies and setting a new standard of care for newborns."

Together with her sister, Natalia, Cidalia embarked on her journey the week before Thanksgiving and reached the top on Thanksgiving Day. At the top, they waved the flag of the Children's National Health System and thanked everyone who supported their journey.

Mount Kilimanjaro translates to "Mountain of Greatness" or "Mountain of Light" and with these two sisters on a mission, it has literally become both, as the pair has shined a beacon of light on the need for awareness and research needed to save the lives of high-risk babies everywhere. "Our decision to climb Mount Kilimanjaro symbolizes our desire to take fetal medicine to new heights," notes Natalia.

The sisters have raised over $264,000, over half of their goal of $500,000. You can learn more and donate to the cause for millions of healthy babies on their fundraising website.

  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 milliliters) garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup (125 milliliters) your favorite Buffalo hot sauce (such as President's Choice or Frank's)
  • 2 tablespoons (30 milliliters) melted coconut oil or butter

Directions:

  1. Heat the oven to 425 degrees F.
  2. In a medium-size bowl, whisk together the milk, water, flour, onion and garlic.
  3. Dip each floret into the batter consecutively, allowing the excess to drip off before placing the pieces on a large, parchment-covered baking sheet.
  4. Bake the battered florets for about 25 minutes, until the batter has "gelled" somewhat and the florets are fragrant.
  5. In the meantime, in a small bowl, whisk the Buffalo hot sauce with the melted coconut oil or butter.
  6. Once the battered cauliflower florets have baked, carefully brush the florets with the sauce, making sure they are entirely coated.

  •
Pinch salt

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, you might have noticed a bunch of photos of female celebrities on your timelines, but with a little extra weight added to them. That's because of Lopera, a computer technician who originally found fame when his first piece of work (a manipulated photo of Katy Perry’s cover for her 2008 album One of the Boys) went viral. Fast-forward seven years later, and his images of Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry, Mila Kunis and Rita Ora have all taken over the blogosphere.

Speaking with the New York Daily News, Lopera says this hobby of his is done because he wants to show the world the beauty in plus-size women. He's also hoping to really "change people’s mind[s] about beauty standards.”

As for how long it takes Lopera to manipulate each photo, the artist says it takes somewhere between three to four hours. What's even better is that Lopera does most of his work for free. Yup, you read that right. He told the New York Daily News that he does "95 percent of his work totally free" despite the demand of requests.

Lopera's heavyset work is just a hobby for now, but he says he'd love to dedicate his life to something like this. “Look at my pictures and you will see that big is beautiful... but there are many people today who don’t agree with that,” he said. “However, when they see my gorgeous, fat celebrities, I think they might realize how wrong they are.”

What do you think of Lopera's work? Would you appreciate seeing more plus-size celebrities in the spotlight? Tell us your thoughts below.

Coffee taste test: Does the beloved Dunkin' Donuts brew hold up? (VIDEO)

So what happens when you blind taste test your so-called favorite fast-food coffee against other brews you claim to despise? Hilarity, that's what.

coffee taste test

coffee taste test

In this taste test, the coffee contenders are McDonald's, 7-Eleven, Starbucks, Panera Bread, Dunkin' Donuts and Burger King.

I have to admit that I do not belong to the Dunkin' Donuts coffee fan club. I happen to think there is far better coffee out there. So when Dunkin' has the potential to get smacked down in a taste test, I watch with rapt attention.

Now, there's a lot of Dunkin' love going on here. There's a lot of oohing and ahhing over what is perceived to be Dunkin'. There are claims that it "smells like New England" and "has total complexity." So does it win? Watch the video to find out.

Who gets your vote for favorite fast-food coffee?

More: Buffy star heading to rehab after embarrassing incident

The actor was arrested in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, after he allegedly trashed his Hilton hotel room, People magazine reports. He was charged with grand theft and criminal mischief.

According to the police report, which was obtained by TMZ, Brendon drunkenly trashed his hotel room and managed to cause $450 worth of damage. He also racked up a food bill of almost $380 in food and drink charges, which he refused to pay for.

Staff called the authorities after they found Brendon "passed out" on the floor of a staffer's office, People magazine reports. And according to the police report, Brendon was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

The View reportedly prohibits Whoopi Goldberg from leaving the show

Poor Whoopi!

More: Rosie already announced her exit

After years of sitting behind the table on The View and prattling on and on about celeb culture and current events, it appears as though Goldberg tried to make an exit. She recently signed on to a new sitcom and when she asked to take a break from The View, the comedian was denied. Technically, her contract with The View allows for her to do work outside of the morning talk show, so she'll still be able to star in Delores & Jermaine. The actress simply won't be allowed to duck out of her other obligations.

While speaking to Fox News, Goldberg patiently explained the situation she's currently facing with The View.

More: Whoopi Goldberg loses her cool arguing that America isn't racist (VIDEO)

"I'm very happy. I'm working. I never put down the fact that I have a really good job, but I also have bosses. They make decisions... sometimes you don't like them and you have to live with them," Goldberg explained. While she was cautious with just how much mudslinging she attempted while setting the record straight, other remarks still managed to paint her bosses in an unforgiving light. "But it's a lot of work to go and do two or three jobs at the same time. I'm getting older, and I don't want to work that hard. So we'll see how it all works out."

After remarks like that, the first sign of fatigue that's seen on Goldberg's face will no doubt be blamed on The View's unmoving stance on her contract. Then again, from the very little we know about the show, it might be in her best interest not to cut ties with The View just yet. Delores & Jermaine's plot is pretty vague: Goldberg plays an ex-cop and grandmother who must adjust to living with the new generation when her grandson moves in with her. The new show could be cute, but seeing as how most pilots don't succeed, perhaps juggling both shows for the time being might be in the best interest of her bank account.

Will The View stick to their guns, or back down and let the actress try something new? Guess we'll watch and see.

Moms in China are having C-sections to avoid bad luck 'Sheep babies'

$

Moms in China are heading to the hospital in droves as they try to avoid having their babies after Chinese New Year begins on Feb. 19. Why? Because this will begin the Year of the Sheep — it's felt that those born during this time will have a lifetime of bad luck, and who wants that?

The Chinese zodiac is taken seriously enough that it's affecting birth plans, as doctors in the country report that hospitals have been flooded with moms hoping for an induction or C-section before the Year of the Horse ends. Also, if past "Sheep years" are any indication, there may be a 30 percent (or more) drop in births over the next year, which will end on Feb. 7, 2016.

Even though those born under the Sheep are considered to be kind and popular, when combined with the wood element (which happens every 60 years, including this year), there are a few other attributes to consider. Being peaceful, helpful and trusting are all good things, but being weak and clingy are decidedly not all that great.

When you consider that many Chinese parents believe you take on characteristics of your zodiac sign, it begins to make sense. Many moms in China simply believe that the Sheep year is bad luck, and they don't want their kids to be any part of it.

Astrology in the U.S. is considered entertainment by many. Sure, some take it seriously, but how many people do you know who would avoid having a baby under a certain sign because they feel it's bad luck? These people are probably very few and far between. It's fascinating that the culture in China is so different from what we experience in the U.S., to the point that there may be 30 percent fewer births because of it.

Would you consider scheduling an induction to avoid a bad-luck birth year for your child? Or even more significant, an elective C-section? It's hard to say what I'd do, given that my cultural background doesn't include serious superstitions such as these, but I would like to imagine I'd roll with it and not put myself or my baby at risk to avoid the Year of the Sheep.

SDSU golf trick video is a 'straight masterpiece'

The ladies of the San Diego State University golf team have made an incredible video showcasing some amazing golf tricks that is burning up the internet.

Not content to just re-create the Tiger Woods juggling trick from his Nike Golf ad, they have incorporated choreography, tumbling and the infectious soundtrack of Bruno Mars' "Uptown Funk" to complete their golf masterpiece.

SDSU trick golf video

SDSU trick golf video

But there's something so much cooler than golf tricks going on here. This is what feminism looks like. Not bra burning or screaming about the patriarchy, but something much simpler and more wonderful.

This video shows a group of women athletes performing at the very highest levels of their sport with a joy and swagger you just don't get to see young ladies wearing very often in the media. The members of the SDSU ladies golf team are role models simply by virtue of doing what they clearly love to do — play golf — with an enthusiasm that would inspire even the crummiest golfer to head down to the range for a little fun. That's it.

Cool, right?

These golfers show us all there's nothing hotter than being really competent at something. Not oiled up and showing your tuchus internet breaking. Just really excellent athletes showing us what they've got. And it's wonderful.

In three short days, the video has been viewed more than 140,000 times, and the count continues to climb. You can't help but watch it more than once.

Congratulations, ladies! This is indeed a straight masterpiece. Our little girls need more role models just like you. Thanks for that.
