Wendy Williams' nude PETA pose is heating up the web! Wearing nothing but a "fantasy hair" wig, the talk-show host showed off some serious skin for the "Go Naked" campaign.

Wendy Williams

Wendy Williams' nude photos are no tabloid scandal, though they're still a bit scandalous! The racy images of the talk-show host wearing not a single stitch of clothing have been put out by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, known by most as PETA.

As the latest celebrity to strip down for the "Go Naked" campaign, Wendy Williams posed completely nude, carefully concealing her private parts with just the long hair of a specially made wig.

Wendy Williams: Heidi Klum is the new Jesse James >>

"We should all try to be comfortable in our own skin and let the animals keep theirs," the 48-year-old, who was happy to pose nude, said in a press release. "PETA has proven there is a sexy way to suggest to people to rethink the fur.”

What can you do to help? Aside from not buying fur, obviously, Wendy Williams is encouraging the public to donate their used fur coats to PETA, who in turn will pass them on to the homeless and victims of Hurricane Sandy.

PETA gives Miley Cyrus a pig for her birthday>>

The talk-show host — who revealed previously she wears wigs because she has thyroid disease, which causes her natural hair to be very thin — joins a long list of celebrities who've gone nude to support the cause. Christy Turlington, Eva Mendes, Holly Madison, Joanne Krupa, Kat Von D and Pamela Anderson have all lent their famous figures to PETA in the past.

Check out a behind-the-scenes look at Wendy Williams' PETA shoot:

Brain power: Eat to improve your memory

Over time, certain foods and beverages can interfere with memory function. Conversely, removing these foods from the diet, and consuming different foods and nutrients in different proportions, can have the opposite effect and actually improve memory function and help ward off Alzheimer’s disease.

Woman eating fruit salad

Recently, a number of impressive clinical studies have revealed groundbreaking new evidence that specific nutritional interventions — what you eat and what kinds of supplements you take can significantly improve memory function in patients with Alzheimer's disease and those with mild cognitive impairment . Other studies show that the right diet can delay the onset of AD in memory-compromised patients.

If nutritional interventions can prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease, imagine what they can do for your brain. You don't have to have Alzheimer's to benefit from the new findings. Everyone needs a healthy brain, and all of us lose memory function as we age. Eating brain-healthy foods will help you now and in the future. Here are 11 recommendations, based on the new research.

1

Proportion your fat-carb-protein intake

These three categories of food are known as macronutrients, and your brain needs them in the right proportion to function optimally. Each day, aim to get 25 percent of your total calories from fat ; 30 to 45 percent from complex carbs such as fruits, vegetables, and whole foods that are low on the glycemic index; and 25 to 35 percent from high-quality lean protein.

2

Eliminate high-glycemic carbs

These include sugars, high-fructose corn syrup, processed cereals and grains, anything baked, ice cream and sorbet, crackers, salty snacks such as chips and pretzels, and anything made with white flour. If these are "comfort foods" for you, find or make healthy alternatives, such as homemade frozen pops made with nonfat yogurt and frozen berries, or baked kale chips.

3

Eat like a Greek

Studies show that the Mediterranean-style diet is the most brain-healthy diet on the plant. It includes fruits and vegetables, lean protein ; low-fat yogurt and cheeses; and grains, nuts and seeds. Stay away from red meat and processed foods.

4

Know good fat from bad

Foods that are high in good fats are also good for your brain. These include olive oil, avocados, certain nuts, natural peanut butter, certain seeds and certain fish. Foods that are high in "bad" fat are also bad for your brain, and include most fast foods, anything hydrogenated, dried coconut, butter, animal fats, milk chocolate and white chocolate, and cheese.

5

Get a lot more omega-3

Omega-3 fatty acids are essential for memory function and brain health. Most of us don't get enough from dietary sources , so consider high-quality, pure fish oil supplements that contain a minimum of 250 mg of DHA in each capsule and aim for 1,000 to 1,500 mg of DHA daily if approved by your physician.

6

Boost your antioxidants

Optimal mental function relies on lots of antioxidant-rich foods. Here are some of the best: berries, kale, 100 percent pure unsweetened cocoa powder, mushrooms, onions, beans, seeds, sardines, herring, trout and Alaskan wild salmon.

7

Get your brain vitamins

Take adequate amounts of folic acid, B6, B12, and vitamin D in particular. If you're not eating vitamin-rich foods on a regular basis, it's good to supplement as needed in pill or liquid form.

8

Eat whole, not processed, foods

What's a whole food? In general, whole foods have only one ingredient—for example, strawberries or broccoli or barley. If you must have a convenience food on occasion, find packaged, canned or frozen items with the fewest ingredients and with ingredients that you readily recognize and understand.

9

Take the fat out of your dairy

If you prepare foods using full-fat milk, cheese or yogurt, use nonfat versions instead. If you drink whole milk or half-and-half in your coffee, try mixing it with skim milk and increasing the proportion of non-fat to high-fat every day. Pretty soon you'll be used to the lower-fat version and have no urge to go back.

10

Enjoy brain-healthy coffee

Here's some good news for coffee lovers. One to three cups of coffee early in the day may be beneficial over time for your brain. Studies in Europe done over several years demonstrated that men who drank coffee regularly for many years showed less of a decline on memory tests than those who did not drink coffee.

11

Fast 12 hours at night

If you routinely wake up at 6 a.m., try to eat your last meal at 6 p.m. the night before. There is scientific evidence that substances called ketone bodies, which are produced when there are no carbohydrates to burn for fuel, may have a protective effect on brain cells.

Guest room

If you're hosting overnight guests for the holidays, you want to give them a warm welcome and make sure they feel comfortable. Follow these tips for showing your company there's no place like your home.

Making overnight guests feel at home

It's no secret that we at SheKnows love hosting. From the best recipes for your dinner party to great decorative touches, we've got you covered. But, when you're hosting guests overnight, some special touches will not only make your guests feel welcome, but it will make them glad they didn't stay at some fancy hotel.

candlePreparing the guest room

When you're hosting overnight guests, set up the guest room as comfortably as possible. Your guest room should be clean and uncluttered. As cute as all those decorative pillows and stuffed animals are, they should be put away while guests are in town. You don't want it to take them half an hour to pull back the covers, after all. A few choice pillows are elegant and easy to set aside at bedtime.

You should also make sure there's plenty of assorted reading material, especially if there's no TV in the room. If you know your guests well enough, make some special selections they can take with them for the drive home. If not, provide an assortment of modern magazines for men and women and a few books of different genres. You should also include these creature comforts:

  • Extra blankets
  • Extra pillows
  • Tissues on either side of the bed
  • Water glasses
  • Alarm clock
  • Closet space and extra hangers, empty drawer
  • A bag or hamper for dirty laundry
  • Scented candles
  • Flashlights
  • Assorted movies on DVD
  • Multi-device universal USB charger
  • Pen and paper

If you really want to go all out, a mint on the pillow is a great cap to the evening. But, instead of a regular mint, try providing guests with a liquor-infused truffle or even mini-bottles of brandy for nightcaps. Don't forget the brandy snifters next to the bed.

towelsPreparing the bathroom

When you're staying overnight at someone's house, there's nothing more uncomfortable than getting used to a new bathroom, especially if you realize you've forgotten something.

You can make your guest's time away a lot easier by making the bathroom as comfortable as possible. Nothing says, "we love having guests in our home" like those extra touches.

Purchase an attractive glass decanter to fill with mouthwash and set out two small glasses for rinsing . Surround it with lovely aromatherapy candles or attractive little soaps. It's an inexpensive way to make your guest bathroom both elegant and welcoming.

You should also make sure you have nice, matching towels that aren't too decorative set out. Guests may question whether they're supposed to use towels that have extra special designs .

You should also have some backup emergency supplies in hotel sizes on hand. Many grocery and discount stores have aisles of sample-sized bins .

  • Shampoo and conditioner
  • Body wash
  • Toothpaste, unopened toothbrushes and mouthwash
  • Extra medicine
  • Unopened bathing poufs
  • Lotion
  • Shaving cream/gel and disposable razors
  • Cotton swabs
  • Extra hand and body towels
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Saline solution for contacts
  • Essential oils, perfumes and colognes
  • Extra heater

pancakesPlan the menu

Don't forget about food. If they plan to come in later in the evening, plan to have snacks and appetizers to snack on while people catch up. There's nothing worse than leaving your guests to amuse themselves while you cook steak and potatoes.

For breakfast, plan to have something a little special. You don't want to serve your guests cold cereal. It's easy to make pancakes in the morning — all you need to make it a little fancier is some special toppings .

If your guests aren't staying long, you might skip a fancy home-cooked meal the next evening and opt for taking them to a great new restaurant in town. But if you do plan to cook, don't forget to invite your guests to help if they're also home cooks. It will probably be fun to collaborate.

Last, but not least: The tour

When your guests arrive, give them the tour. Don't just focus on the new wet bar you added since they were in town last. Show them their room, the bathroom and any amenities they may need to take advantage of.

Simply showing them what you have and where they can find it in case they need it goes a long way to making them feel comfortable making themselves at home. Don't forget to show them their way around the kitchen and tell them to help themselves.

If they have any special needs, show them how to take care of those, too. A new mom will appreciate knowing she can use the rocking chair in your craft room to nurse privately because she can lock the door .

The goal, after all, isn't just to impress your guests, it's to make them feel welcome and at home. Think about what would make you feel comfortable, and you’ll be guest home free!

Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch In the Throat

Could your blog fodder be book material?

Have you poured hours and hours into your blog? Ever wonder if your time and effort could be turned into a book?

We were thrilled to have the chance to talk with Jen, the blogger behind People I Want to Punch In the Throat, about her experience going from blogger to author as she debuts her first book, Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch In the Throat.

The hilarious blogger behind People I Want to Punch In the Throat took the leap from blogger to author recently when she made her dreams of writing a book a reality. Just in time for the holidays, Jen has come out with Spending the Holidays with People I Want to Punch in the Throat. She graciously took some time to break the book-writing process down for every blogger who ever wanted to know the real details.

SheKnows: What made you decide to take the concept of your blog and turn it into a book?

Jen: My book is inspired by my blog People I Want to Punch in the Throat. In December 2011, I had 70 followers on my blog. I didn't have a Facebook page for the blog, I wasn't on Twitter and I'd never heard of Pinterest. One night, I wrote a post called "Over Achieving Elf on the Shelf Mommies" and promoted it on my personal Facebook account, like I always did. In one week, that post went viral. To date, it's been viewed 1.3 million times and launched my blog into a whole new realm. I realized that my dream of being paid to write was being handed to me and I needed to figure out a plan fast. I created a Facebook page for the blog and a Twitter account and started sending readers there, hoping to capture as many as I could. Lots of people were one-time readers, but I managed to keep several thousand engaged, and throughout the year since then, I've grown my following.

From day one, I heard from many of my readers asking me to write a book. I had always wanted to write a book, but I always imagined it would be a fiction book. I got nervous and realized it would have to be non-fiction, since that's what I was now known for, but I couldn't figure out what to write about. A friend suggested the holidays. She wisely said, "Why deviate from what you do best? Write about the holidays and make sure to include that little Elf." Once she gave me that direction, the pressure was lifted and I got to work. "The Elf on the Shelf" post is in the book, along with a bunch of new essays about the holidays.

SK: How long did the process take you?

Jen: I started thinking about writing a book in January 2012. I am a person who mulls things over in my head for a while before I actually write it down. I did several outlines and lists and bullet points of topics and stories I wanted to cover, but I didn't sit down and start writing until the summer. I wrote everyday in June and July, and then I edited the book in August. I wanted it to be ready for an October publish date.

SK: Were there costs involved?

Jen: There are some costs involved with self-publishing a book. I think a cover is the most important part of a book. When people don't know your brand, or anything about you or your book, you need a compelling and interesting cover that will make a reader choose your book. I held a contest on a design site where I offered to pay a flat fee to the winning designer. I had several great entries, and it was so hard to choose, but I'm really happy with the end result, and I feel like it was worth every penny. When you self-publish on Createspace, there are some small fees associated with ISBN numbers and such. So far, I've only spent a few hundred dollars on marketing — mostly on free books for reviewers, etc. I haven't paid to advertise the book or anything like that, and I don't have plans to at this point. I'm a bit of a guerrilla marketer, so I've been accessing every free or cheap avenue to market the book.

"I knew that my fans would help me more than a publishing house would. They helped me become a popular blogger, and I knew they could help me become a best seller too."

SK: Can you tell us a little bit about the book?

Jen: The book is a collection of humorous — sometimes angry and sometimes heartwarming — rants about the holidays. These are all memories of my childhood or things in general about the holidays that I hate .

SK: Despite its title, it's a hilarious and heartwarming book. Has it been well received so far?

Jen: I have been overwhelmed with the reception thus far. When I hit publish on the book, I felt sick to my stomach. Sure, I have thousands of fans on Facebook and Twitter who read my blog each day, but this was the first time I was asking someone to pay me to read what I had to say. Up until this point, every time I received a negative comment on my blog, my response was always "Did I ask you to pay me for this?" Now, I wanted people to get out their credit card and purchase my writing. I was terrified no one would buy it, or they would buy it and hate it. So far, I've had great reviews left for me on Amazon and my blog, and book sales have been tremendous. I have been an Amazon best seller since the first day, and I expect to hold my position through Christmas. The number one complaint I get is, "It's too short." I would rather have a reader complain that I left her wanting more than I bored her to tears for the last three chapters.

SK: How have you incorporated your social media following into your book promotions?

Jen: I have an amazing social media following, and they have been wonderful at helping me promote the book by sharing on their Facebook pages or retweeting me or pinning the book on Pinterest or leaving me reviews on Amazon. Social media is a great way to connect with my readers, and they can tell me what they liked about the book or share their holiday memories with me. I read every review, comment, email and tweet and try to respond as often as I can.

When I was considering self-publishing vs. traditional publishing, I knew that I could be a successful self publisher because I knew that my fans would help me more than a publishing house would. They helped me become a popular blogger, and I knew they could help me become a best seller, too. I've been able to find lots of websites and twitter resources for indie writers, and they are always great to help promote indie books. I also have a really super group of fellow bloggers who support me and help spread the word about my book. In fact, recently, a group of them banded together to do a giveaway on the book. They combined forces and promoted one another, along with myself and my book, and they managed to get over 35,000 entries into their giveaway! Bloggers are a book promoter's best friend. They have a relationship with a particular group of people who tend to think like them and usually have the same tastes as them, etc., so when a blogger gives an endorsement to a product, like a book, it translates into sales every single time.

SK: If a blogger is considering writing his or her own book, what is your first piece of advice?

Jen: My advice would be to write a book based on, or inspired by, your blog, rather than slurping the whole blog into a book. You will do so much better if you include one or two of your best-known pieces, and then, craft a book around them. No matter what you choose to do, it really comes down to getting in front of the computer and just start writing. Don't worry about formatting or programs to use or even a title yet. Get a theme and get writing. Good luck!

Glee recap: There's a catfight, and someone dies?

$
0
0
In a faint — or feigned — attempt at winning Sectionals, New Directions faces implosion, while New York seems to be beaming with healing.

Will there be a death on Glee?

Who got slapped?

Quinn and Puck are in one room again?

The answers are: Probably not, read on to find out, and absolutely yes!

Blast from the past

What could be a better way to remember what you're thankful for than bringing back the original A-Team — sans Rachel and Kurt , though. The duplicates will never be as good as the originals, huh?

The question is, have the alums changed? Besides being startlingly more composed than I remember , every new New Directioner was in awe of these legends.

Everyone paired off like it was Noah's Ark

But not in the way you think. The alumni became mentors to the new Gleeks, with the most animated and irritating pairing being Kitty and Quinn. While it's no shock to us , Kitty is obsessed with Quinn. After all, Kitty reminds us of a diluted Quinn, without the class. It quickly surpasses adoration to creepy when she shows a "WWQFD" sign posted shrine-like in her locker.

Check out our interview with Dianna Agron >>

Things get messy — and ruin the reunion — when the Glee alums get possessive over their proteges. Santana finds out that Kitty has persuaded Marley to take laxatives. When confronting Quinn, they have a fiery exchange. Quinn is a tad bit deluded when she claims Santana is jealous of her and implies her new romantic life is envy inducing as well. Irritated by this, Santana then throws attitude at Quinn, remarking that she's just a "teen mom" who "barely visits her kid." Quinn slaps the sass out of Santana, and Quinn gets one right back. Brittany quickly intervenes, walking in before it gets worse.

Not the finale to Sectionals we expected

Yes, the Warblers did an amazing job. They were charming, with more pizzazz than we gave them credit for in the past. There was a second group that we won't even bother mentioning because it was so boring I changed the channel. But the final act was New Directions, and they definitely made an impression with the judges.

Why, you ask? Was it the Gangnam Style performance? That was good, but no; it was because Marley fainted — and into a mighty awkward position, if you ask me. It was a bit dramatic from start to finish. Marley was dropping breadcrumbs all through the episode about how she wasn't feeling well. She left a Tic Tac on the sink and tried to tell Jake that she hasn't slept in days and that it'll be all her fault if they don't win. It didn't flow very well, and it felt rushed, but her foreshadowing was accurate, as the episode ended with her abruptly ending her set. She was a cross between Jessie's caffeine pill–induced breakdown on Saved By the Bell and Natalie Portman's death in Black Swan. However dramatic, her condition is a serious issue, and it's good they're addressing it. In the previews for next week, it looks like Kitty may actually be crying. Did something more serious happen, or is it actual remorse?

Prior to the drama, Ryder and Jake spent plenty of time bonding over Ryder's willingness to let Jake "have" Marley and Jake's minimizing of his dancing ability to allow Ryder to have the limelight. In another sudden turn of events, Ryder came forward in order to calm Marley's nerves and ensure a seeming victory for New Directions, asking Jake to take the lead since he is a natural .

Notable mentions:

  • Sarah Jessica Parker was both motherly and entrancing with her portrayal of Isabelle last night. She encouraged Kurt to forgive Blaine and had a drag queen party with Kurt and Rachel in their loft. Lively and festive, it was visually vibrant.
  • Rachel is such a pushover and is back to pursuing Brody . Brody was right, though, when he made the point that she had no right to be mad at him for exercising his freedom to do what he wants. It just so happened who he wanted to do was an issue, since it was Cassandra . Oh, and yes, they did actually go all the way.
  • Appearances: Will comes back for Sectionals, as does Puck. Although I was expecting a little more tension between Quinn and Puck, they were a little dry.

That's enough drama to play out for another few episodes, right? We're looking forward to seeing how Cassandra feels about Dean and Rachel's renewed interest, discovering Marley's condition after her fainting episode, finding out if Kitty has any remorse, seeing if Quinn and Santana will finish what they started, seeing whether Brittany and Sam will hook up , and finding out where everyone else fits into the puzzle!

The Bachelorette wedding: Ashley's bridal party

Ashley and JP are tying the knot, and we can't wait to see who will be in Ashley's bridal party! The Bachelor isn't the best place to make new friends, but Ashley's sweet demeanor sets her apart from all those catfighting hair pullers. Here are some friends she's made along the way whom we'd like to see in her bridal party.

Ashley and JP and tying the knot

We at SheKnows couldn't be more excited for Bachelorette Ashley Hebert and JP Rosenbaum's wedding, which is just around the corner. As we're counting down the hours and tapping our fingers in anticipation, we got to thinking about the familiar faces who will wind up in Ashley's bridal party. These are our guesses for whom we might see standing next to Ashley on Dec. 16 on ABC.

Ashley Spivey

Trista Sutter

Ashley Spivey

trista

These two besties hit it off immediately when they were both vying for one man's heart on Brad Womack's season of The Bachelor. When most of the women were ready to put rat poison in food or disfigure someone to get a rose, the Ashleys were busy bonding and making everyone laugh with their goofy antics. Drama could have ensued after the producers put them both on a 2-on-1 date where one of them was bound to go home . Brad sent Ashley Spivey packing, and even though she was heartbroken, she didn't let it affect her feelings for her new friend. All this time later, the girls are as close as ever and often double date with their new men! This is one face we'd be uber surprised not to see in the bridal party.

Trista has become the matriarch of The Bachelor dynasty. As the very first Bachelorette and one of the only true success stories from the franchise , she's been known to get close to other Bachelorettes and give them advice on managing the spotlight and their relationships. Trista was also the first of the contestants to have her wedding on TV. In 2003, she opened her life to audiences and shared everything from the rehearsal dinner and the last-minute fights to the "I dos" and the Pepto Bismol–pink reception. She has experience, and we're sure she's been offering her advice and support to Ashley, especially after doing the In Touch bikini shoot together. Did you see the killer bodies on those ladies?

Chantal O'BrienChantal O'brien

Normally, it'd be weird to ask your ex's ex-girlfriend to join your bridal party, but then again, watching your boyfriend date 15 other girls isn't exactly normal, is it? Ashley and Chantal had a lot to bond over after they made it to the Final Three, then Brad told them both to hit the road so he could propose to Emily Maynard. Chantal had it slightly harder than Ashley, as she was convinced that Brad was going to pop the question. Both girls were equally shocked and wounded, however, when Brad pretty much admitted in the After The Final Rose special that he knew he was going to choose Emily all along. That means the other girls who were falling in love with him were like greyhounds chasing that rabbit around the track — they were never gonna catch him. When a guy does two ladies wrong, ditch the guy and make a new friend. I'm sure they've done some bonding over drinks since then, and we'd love to see Chantal show up in the bridal party!

Seth MacFarlane announces contest for film students

If you are a film student in college, this might be your chance to go to the 85th Annual Academy Awards.

SethMacFarlanemtvU

It looks like there is a changing of the guard in Oscar models. Out are the tall, statuesque models handing the awards to the presenters, and in are college students who are aspiring filmmakers.

On Friday, mtvU — MTV's 24-hour college network — and this year's Oscars host, Seth MacFarlane, announced "The Oscar Experience College Search." It's all a part of encouraging the next generation of Hollywood hopefuls and possible Oscar winners.

MacFarlane is the latest guest professor for the mtvU series Stand In. He recently spoke at the University of California Los Angeles for the "Overview of Contemporary Film Industry" course, and that's when he revealed the big news.

In an Academy press release today, the Family Guy creator said, "For a film student to go to the Oscars and be a part of presenting is a huge break."

The winners will be determined by the show's producers, Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, with a minimum of six winners being flown to Los Angeles to be a part of the 85th Annual Academy Awards on Feb. 24. Contestants will need to complete an entry form and shoot a video that answers the question, "How will you contribute to the future of movies?"

The contest runs through Jan. 19, and more information can be found on The Academy's Facebook page.

It is a great opportunity for any budding Steven Spielberg or George Lucas.

As producers Zadan and Meron stated, "In reimagining what we want the Oscar show to be, we wanted everyone appearing on that stage to feel a deep commitment to film and its legacy, and most importantly, its future. That was the impetus in creating this special honor for young film students who will inspire a new generation to create the films that will be honored in the future."

The Stand In episode airs Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. on mtvU.

Mario Lopez's wedding weekend is about to get underway! The X Factor host and Courtney Mazza are gearing up to tie the knot in a slightly curious location.

Mario Lopez

Mario Lopez's wedding is just days away! As he and Courtney Mazza prepare to exchange vows, celebrities are giving their last-minute words of advice and flying south.

Already in Mexico for the Lopez wedding festivities is longtime friend Eva Longoria.

The actress tweeted Thursday, "Just landed in Mexico for @MarioLopezExtra wedding! So excited to be here! #VivaMexico"

More specifically, however, Mario Lopez and Courtney Mazza are kicking off their life as man and wife at the house that Girls Gone Wild built!

Joe Francis, creator of the controversial adult entertainment empire, is hosting the Mazza-Lopez wedding at his Casa Aramara villa in Punta Mita.

A note from the 39-year-old entrepreneur confirms the questionably romantic location.

"I've been friends with Mario for more than a decade, and I met Courtney on one of their very first dates over 4 years ago," Joe Francis wrote. "I have never seen a couple more in love and committed to each other and their family. I love them both very much, and I'm honored to be a part of their special day."

Mario Lopez lands a bride and a TV deal>>

Khloe Kardashian, Mario Lopez's X Factor co-host, has been gabbing with the groom about weddings backstage at the show.

She shared, "During rehearsals we have to do a commercial break and [Mario and I] are always gossiping... He's like, 'OK, what time did you cut the cake?' I'm like, 'I don't know, I was so wasted at my wedding!'"

The reality star, who wed basketball star Lamar Odom in 2009, continued, "But seriously, someone told me: 'At your wedding you get so caught up with being a host. You shouldn't spend your whole wedding not with each other. Everyone's gonna have fun. You have music and food, [the guests are] gonna be fine. You and your husband or wife, you have to take a few minutes to yourselves. Just watch the whole scene and ambiance. It will never be that same moment.' I told him that because it was the best piece of advice I got. Lamar and I [still] talk about those little moments."

Curious to see how the affair turns out? You can catch the Mario and Courtney's Wedding Fiesta special on TLC, on Dec. 8!

Francesca Eastwood named Miss Golden Globe

It looks like Clint Eastwood is passing the entertainment torch on to his 19-year-old daughter. She was named Miss Golden Globe for the award ceremony in January.

Francesca Eastwood

It is a time-honored tradition among the kin of Hollywood celebrities to wonder who will be named Miss Golden Globe. Well, the suspense is over for the January 2013 show, as The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that Francesca Eastwood has earned this year's title.

The announcement was made on Thursday at Cecconi's restaurant in West Hollywood that Clint Eastwood's daughter would be assisting with the delivery of the Globe statuettes to the presenters and getting the winners off-stage to the press room after their big win. The actress was in attendance for the presentation.

Francesca Eastwood became familiar to television audiences this year with E!'s reality series, Mrs. Eastwood and Company. She often became embroiled in controversy with her older boyfriend, Tyler Shields, as her mom, Dina, was often concerned about the age difference. The 19-year-old has been dating the 30-year-old photographer for two years.

She told People about the upcoming big night. "I'm a little worried, maybe, about falling over or doing something like that. I do not want to wear a ball gown, but I think that really fancy dresses are reserved for the nominees. I'm planning on something simple that won't make me fall over."

Other famous offspring who have graced the Golden Globes stage include Laura Dern, Melanie Griffith, and Rumer Willis. In a departure from the Miss Golden Globe title, Freddie Prinze Jr. was named Mr. Golden Globe in 1996.

Nominations for the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be announced on Dec. 13, with the ceremony happening on Jan. 13. It will be hosted by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Jenny Johnson issues non-apology to #classy Chris Brown

Chris Brown hasn't heard the last of Jenny Johnson just yet! The comic, who engaged in an epic Twitter battle with the singer, has turned down all interview requests — except for the opportunity to write a piece for GQ.

Chris Brown

Jenny Johnson never expected a few tweets exchanged with Chris Brown to make headlines. The comic, who was unaware the entertainment world would react so strongly to their vulgar exchange, explains her experience of the past week in a piece for GQ.

"This is not an apology," Jenny Johnson's Chris Brown post begins. "I just want to clear some things up. My first thought following my Twitter exchange with Chris Brown on Sunday was to ignore it until it went away.

"The exchange I'm referencing would be the one where he tweeted he looked old for 23, and I replied with a not-so-kind comment. From there we discussed farts, spelling, past events, bushpigs, and which part of my eye he wanted to go number two on. It ended with him deactivating his Twitter account."

Rihanna, Chris Brown reunite in sleazy photo>>

Recap complete, Jenny Johnson went on to explain she never expected her name to make headlines or that dozens of media outlets like The View would be clamoring for her to give interviews.

"I won't say I regret what I did, but I will say I have learned from it," she wrote. "I've had people assume I dislike Chris Brown because I'm taking up for Rihanna, I'm not. I'm on the side of good, of equality and respect for my fellow woman. I was raised to not respect a person who doesn't respect others. And one human being physically harming another human being is one of the most disrespectful acts there is."

Chris Brown ignites "verbal rape" debate on The View>>

Making predictions on what will capture entertainment news' attention next, Jenny Johnson went on:

"By next week Miley Cyrus will marry a shoe, Justin Bieber will meet the Pope wearing a wetsuit, Kim Kardashian will announce she's pregnant with a sea turtle, and everyone will move on. Even though I promised myself I would remain quiet on this subject, I just felt the need to clear the air on these certain topics."

Addressing Chris Brown fans who are angry he deleted his Twitter account after their spat, she concluded, "Don't worry Team Breezy, your hero is still on Instagram under the handle F**kYoPictures. #Classy."

What do you think of Jenny Johnson's Chris Brown non-apology piece?

Michael Jackson's Thriller turns 30

Thirty years ago today, an album with nine tracks was released by the King of Pop — and it changed an entire generation of music.

Michael Jackson

If you were a kid on Nov. 30, 1982, nothing shaped your early '80s musical life the way Michael Jackson did. Thirty years ago on Friday, the King of Pop launched the biggest album we will ever see in our lifetimes, Thriller.

MJ, coming off of the hugely successfully dance album Off the Wall, released nine tracks that changed music history forever. To date, Thriller has sold 29 million albums in the United States alone. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, it is tied with The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 album as the best-selling album of all time in America.

Thriller, produced by Jackson and legendary music man Quincy Jones, has nine tracks that cross over several genres of music. From pop to R&B, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The singles "Billie Jean,""Beat It," and "Thriller" became the keystones for his music videos.

The album had seven Top 10 songs on the Billboard charts, with "Beat It" and "Billie Jean" hitting the No. 1 position. Of course, no other artist has ever hit the same stratosphere that Jackson did — his album stayed on top of the Billboard charts for an unprecedented 37 weeks.

The accolades soon followed, as Jackson and Jones racked up multiple American Music Awards and seven Grammys in 1984. It can easily be said that MJ reached heights of musical stardom that most artists will never see in their career.

This extraordinary success and popularity may have been the cause of his downfall in later years. He was never able to achieve the same success that he did with Thriller. His next album, Bad, just celebrated its 25th anniversary.

His personal legacy may be troubled, but his musical legacy is legendary.

Once Upon a Time: Emma in a bad-boy love triangle?

Once Upon a Time's midseason finale is almost here. While Emma's busy fighting Cora, can she make time for love? It looks like romance could be on the horizon for our heroine.

Jennifer Morrison

Once Upon a Time's Emma Swan has a lot on her plate. She recently found out her parents are Snow White and Prince Charming, magic is real and so are fairy tales. On top of that, her love life is nonexistent.

Ever since the death of Sheriff Graham, Emma hasn't been the same. Luckily, this season she's spent time with not one but two new men.

The first is from her past, and the other plays a part in her future. In the season premiere, we met Neal Cassady . At the time, we had no idea who he was. But we soon learned he was Emma's first love, partner in crime and Henry's father!

Once Upon a Time: Emma faces the elephant in the room>>

Thus far, Neal's appeared in two episodes. Will we ever see him again? Emma's portrayer, Jennifer Morrison, tells TVLine, "Yes, we will. That has to pay off at some point, for sure."

On the other hand, there's Killian Jones aka Captain Hook . In almost every scene he and Emma share, they're at each other's throats. But you can't deny their underlying chemistry.

"It'd have to take some really interesting logic to get Emma to want to be with someone who's a villain. What I see, and what I think fans see, is they’re very kindred spirits," says Morrison. "They both come from being thieves and finding creative ways to survive life. When we work together, I feel that, he feels like a real partner — but not right now in a way that's romantic. She's met her match in him in other ways, though, so there's a connection."

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.

Should she forgive Neal or take a risk with Hook?

Raisin apple stuffing

From Grandma to Aunt Rose to cousins, siblings and neighbors, everyone claims to have “the best” stuffing recipe ever. But stuffings are like martinis: What’s “best” is based solely on the palate.

Raisin apple stuffing

When you want a simple stuffing that appeals to many ages and tastes, try this simple raisin apple stuffing recipe.

Raisin apple stuffing

Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 2 red onions, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 stick butter
  • Salt and pepper
  • 4 cooking apples, such as Granny Smith or McIntosh, peeled and diced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon anise seed
  • 1 cup golden raisins
  • 4 to 6 cups chicken broth
  • 3 eggs
  • Grainy mustard
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh Italian flat leaf parsley
  • 3 tablespoons chopped fresh tarragon
  • 8 cups toasted pumpernickel bread cubes
  • 8 cups toasted sourdough bread cubes
  • Soft butter
  • Turkey, pork or ham pan drippings

Directions:

  1. Melt butter in a large, deep skillet over medium-low heat.
  2. Add onions, garlic and celery and saute for 1 minute.
  3. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  4. Add apples, thyme, anise seed and raisins. Mix and cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Pour in 4 to 6 cups of chicken broth, depending on how moist you like your stuffing. Stir until mixed well and the broth is hot.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs and stir in a scoop of mustard, parsley and tarragon.
  7. Add the bread cubes and stir to coat.
  8. Add the hot broth mixture and gently toss to incorporate all ingredients.
  9. Spread the mixture in a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish.
  10. Dot the top with butter or drippings from roast turkey or pork or baked ham.
  11. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 325 degrees F.
  12. Uncover and bake 20 minutes more until the top is golden brown and the apples are cooked through.

Tips

  • If your market doesn't have Granny Smith or McIntosh apples, ask the produce clerk which apples are best for cooking and baking.
  • This dish can be prepared several hours ahead and baked right before serving.
  • Stuffing complements turkey, ham or roast pork.
  • Fresh herbs are essential to this recipe; it's best to choose another option if you only have dried herbs available.

Want to up your gift-giving game this year? From budget to batteries, planning to packaging, there are a lot of factors involved when you want to get it right. Here are some tips to help you give gifts your loved ones will be thrilled to receive.

Don't wait until the last minute

If you're like us, you've found yourself running out at the last possible minute to buy gifts during holidays past. Yeah, how did that work out? If it was anything like our experience, you ended up spending way too much money for something you probably weren't all that thrilled about buying. Fighting the crowds and tailing someone around the parking lot like a creepy stalker to get a spot isn't much fun either. What's a girl to do? Plan ahead -- that's what! Make a list of recipients and gifts that suit their interests. With enough advance planning, you can find gifts you'll love to give and they'll love to receive.

Red shopping bagKeep it affordable

Of course you want to give nothing but the very best, but be realistic about your budget. Look for reduced prices on clothing and home decor items at stores like TJ Maxx and HomeGoods. If you're shopping at retail stores, head for the sale racks in the back. If you have champagne tastes on a less bubbly budget, head to Target on Dec. 1 to shop the 50 designer gift items included in Target's holiday partnership with Neiman Marcus.

Use creative packaging

Sometimes when it comes to gift-giving, it's what's on the outside that counts. Creative packaging can elevate a ho-hum gift to something exquisite. Personalize gift tags with stick-on letters or stamps. Tie on a little something extra like a sprig of pine or a seashell. Even simple gift wrap can look stunning if done right. Brown paper and red-and-white striped twine is always a nice option. Head to Pinterest and search "creative wrapping" for more ideas.

Don't forget the batteries

If you're giving a gift that requires batteries, including a set of batteries is a thoughtful touch. That way, the recipient can start using the gift right away without having to hunt around for batteries or taking a trip to the store to buy some. Instead of taping a package of batteries onto the gift, try taking the batteries out of their package and wrapping them in a plastic cylinder like this clear plastic tube with a cap from Garnish, one of our favorite packaging companies.
