Drinking cash out of the tip jar like a boss is also my favorite way to celebrate the holidays. What a coincidence! Celebs, they're just like us.

However, I do draw the line at bouncing around the office holiday soiree in my favorite pair of sparkly green pasties while spinning records, which Cyrus wore at her bash without irony.

Chris Soules is in love before The Bachelor even starts, but with whom?

In an exclusive interview with People, the farmer from Iowa shared, "I don't think I could get through that again, [but] I'm extremely happy with the outcome. I'm happy to say I'm in love. That's pretty crazy!"

More: 15 Seriously hilarious photos posted by The Bachelorette men themselves

Most of the time, bachelor and bachelorettes play coy about the outcome of their season in order to up the drama, but Soules isn't holding back in sharing his happiness. We can't help but wonder about the lucky lady who received the final rose.

Based on their bios, here are our top picks for Soules this season.

1. Becca

The Bachelor Season 19 contestants

Becca seems to be really close to her family, which is something she and Chris can connect on. She's from Louisiana and has made a living for herself as a chiropractic assistant. It's good that she comes from a small town, but also has the experience of a bigger city, because it will give her a more worldly opinion of where she wants to spend the rest of her life and if a farm with Chris is the right place for her to settle down.

2. Jade

The Bachelor Season 19 contestants

Like Chris, Jade has her own business. She counts her greatest achievement as becoming her own boss as a cosmetics developer. We think she and Chris will connect because of their work ethic, but they will also have intelligence in common, which will make for great conversation. Jade says if she could be any fictional character, she'd be Jane Eyre because, "She's admirable, a heroine that relies on herself to get back on her feet. She's complex and passionate."

More: 5 Reasons seeing Chris Soules live will make or break The Bachelor

3. Jillian

The Bachelor Season 19 contestants

Jillian just seems like a cool, easygoing gal. Her bio makes us want to be friends with her because of clever and funny statements like, "I let Mike Tyson feel my bicep and I let him dangerously close to my ear... but I still have both." Now that's a story we'd like to hear. If we're intrigued, we have a feeling Chris will be, too.

4. Whitney

The Bachelor Season 19 Whitney

Whitney describes herself as an outgoing girl who's looking for a guy who's a bit on the shy side and likes being pursued. Hmm, we think that sounds a lot like Chris... Whitney describes herself as a hopeless romantic whose biggest fear is never finding love or getting to have a family. We think she and Chris will pair nicely with personalities that complement one another.

Glee: 7 Things we know about the final season, based on 34 photos

$

Much like the last couple seasons of Glee, things at William McKinley High School are a mess. But, can the glee club dig themselves out of the hole for one final spin during Glee's sixth and final season? It sure looks like it.

More: Mark Salling on how Cory Monteith's death will impact the finale

1. We're back in Ohio

To help the gang through their rough time, we'll witness Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) return to their alma mater and overtake the glee club. Sure, they'll be older and possibly wiser, but will returning to where it all began see a regression for the two BFFs... or will they be able to leave a lasting impact on their school?

2. It won't all be good times, though

Check out the photo of Kurt and Blaine. Those are some serious faces on our favorite dudes. They're not even standing together. Will the finale see Klaine together forever... or severed for good?

3. The glee club will struggle

Need even more proof of a rough time? Look no further than those pictures of the frolicking and smiling Sue. She's single-handedly ended the glee club on numerous occasions. Will it be intact when we say goodbye? We're starting to have our doubts

More: Becca Tobin breaks her silence on her boyfriend's sudden death

4. Brittany's around!

Nothing in the world can compete with any line ever written for Brittany. Knowing she'll be there for our final season brings about a giddiness we haven't experienced from Glee in years.

5. Quinn and Puck will have a moment

What will happen when Puck (Mark Salling) and Quinn (Dianna Agron) are reunited at WMHS? We're not sure if we should hope for a real, true bonding moment for the former secretive high school lovers or if we should expect the two to come to final blows.

6. We might see a Carole King tribute?

We're going out on a limb with this one, but we think we're on the money. One upcoming episode is called, "Jagged Little Tapestry," which references both Carole King and Alanis Morrissette albums. Sounds like we should get some great covers from both iconic female artists' repertoires, as well as plenty of hookups and breakups in the episode.

7. The Cheerios still got it

We see cheerleading uniforms on some WMHS grads. That can only mean on thing: Cheerios reunion! We can't wait.

Jordin Sparks' Right Here, Right Now: 8 Things to know about her new album

$
0
0

1. #ByeFelicia and Right Here, Right Now are one and the same

Well, essentially. When asked if there was a difference between the mix tape that has been garnering so much buzz and her album, slated for release next year, Sparks said, "There will be new music on the album that you haven't heard — the mix tape only has some snippets of some songs, so we're going to put some full-length versions on the album, as well. And there will be some songs on the mix tape that aren't on the album, too."

2. Don't worry, ladies — she hasn't forsaken the ballad

If we were judging by what we're hearing on #ByeFelicia, we might assume Sparks' entire album will be filled with the same sort of base-heavy, fun and sometimes-vibey records. But don't fret. "Listen, I didn't forget my ballads," she assured us. "I can't forget about those! I love to do them, so there's definitely some on there, as well.

3. This "new" music isn't new to her

A ton of the feedback surrounding #ByeFelicia has centered around how different the sound is for Sparks. And, sure, it's definitely not the stuff 2009's Battlefield was largely made of.

"It's different for everybody else because they remember my last album, but this rings so true to me! I'm jammin' in my car all the time to music like this — I'm dancing to it all the time, me and my friends are dancing to it," she said. "I just want to have a really, really good time, and I hope that people feel that through the music and that they're able to feel the emotion, too."

4. She's completely shaken things up since 2009's Battlefield

There's a very logical reason her music sounds different than it did in 2009: because it is. Although she never stopped making music following Battlefield's release, she did have what she calls "a couple of obstacles" to get past. Now, she's with a different producer on a different label, and it shows.

"It's just been so amazing to get to have somebody in my corner," she said. "His name is Salaam Remi — I'm on his imprint, Louder Than Life — and he was one of the first people who asked me, 'Well, what do you want to say? What do you want it to sound like?' And to be able to have, like, 100 percent freedom like I've had this go-round, I really feel I'm in such a great place."

5. Right Here, Right Now is one of her New Year's resolutions

Did you know that the more people you tell a New Year's resolution to, the more likely you are to keep it? Such is a fact Sparks became acutely aware of when she teamed up with Microsoft Lumia for #MakeItHappen — a campaign through which the company makes people's resolutions come true every day of December.

And for her, music is the No. 1 goal coming into 2015. "With the new album coming out, I'm hoping my resolution is to just keep my head screwed on," she said, laughing. "And also, I'm really excited to go back out on tour and to see my fans."

6. It's not all set in stone

Although Sparks has a roster of songs set to be on the album, she isn't carving any in stone just yet. "If I find a song or I write a song that happens to be better than something that I think is going on the album, I could switch it out. So that means there could also potentially be more or less," she confessed. In the end, it's all about creating the best album possible for her fans.

7. She's got some killer collabs in the works

Have you been digging the vibe on "Double Tap" with 2 Chainz as much as we have? Well, then you'll likely be as stoked as we were to hear she still has some collaborations up her sleeve. "I do have some collaborations that are being worked on right now," she said. "Like, we're waiting for them to either lay down their verse or sing their part, so we've got some great stuff coming."

And she isn't ruling new collaborations out, either, teasing, "You never know!" You hear that, Taylor Swift? We're banking on you and Sparks becoming besties this year anyway.

8. She isn't letting breakup drama distract her

Chatting with Sparks, we were blown away by how amazing she looks, how great she sounds and how infectiously happy she is. (Jason Derulo, who?) Truth: She really seems to be coming into her own.

"Oh, my gosh, thank you for saying that, thank you!" she said. "It's crazy, because I named my album Right Here, Right Now and I think that phrase applies more in my life than it ever has. I'm having fun right here, right now. I'm putting out this music right here, right now. I'm coming into my own right here, right now. I'm coming into my womanhood right here, right now. Everything!"

Amy Adams gets bullied by Today show over Sony hacks

Amy Adams is one of Hollywood's hottest actresses and has a solid reputation for being a professional, kind-hearted gal. Recently, she even gave up her first-class seat on an airplane to a U.S. soldier just to thank him for his service. So, why did the Today show bump her segment?

More: Amy Adams gives up her first-class seat for an American soldier

Deadline reports that Adams stayed an extra day in New York after shooting SNL to fit in the Today show interview about her upcoming film, Big Eyes. She was told by producers twice that she would be asked her opinion on the Sony hacks, possibly even to discuss the leaked e-mail that exposed her wage gap.

When Adams indicated that she'd prefer not to discuss the hack and focus on her new film, she was informed that the Today show is a "news organization" and no one can dictate the questions asked in interviews. Right before she was to go on the show live, they pulled the interview.

Big Eyes

What's super frustrating is that the Today show aired a prerecorded segment with American Sniper's Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper. The two men were not asked about the Sony hacks, revealing a sexist double standard on the part of the show's producers.

More: Tim Burton — 7 Reasons I hated the director before Big Eyes

Clearly, no one at the Today show saw Adams' film, Big Eyes, where she plays artist, Margaret Keane, who was bullied into giving credit for her artwork to her unstable husband, Walter Keane, played by Christoph Waltz.

The moral of the movie is that just because a woman is sweet and eager to please, doesn't mean anyone has the right to control her. The Weinstein Company, which produced the film, says they "firmly stand behind Amy Adams."

Worst U.S. states for reproductive rights in 2014

$
0
0

In nearly 30 states, politicians claim that restrictions on abortions protect the health and safety of American women — this, despite opposition from the American Medical Association, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and reproductive rights activists everywhere.

"It is critical to look closely at what is happening in states where an alarming number of abortion restrictions are either in place or being proposed," says Kelly Blanchard, president of Ibis Reproductive Health. "Our analysis shows that many policymakers working to restrict abortions are ignoring the evidence about what policies are well-documented to improve women's and children's lives."

Advocacy group NARAL Pro-Choice America gives a grade of F to the states that do the least to support reproductive rights. Is your state one of them?

Texas is "the worst state for women's reproductive rights," says Andrew Herrault, owner of Equality Mag, an online magazine that promotes equal rights for all people. "Texas recently closed more than half the abortion clinics and now has only seven for the entire state," adds Herrault. "Couple that with the [last] election, and you've got a recipe for a women's rights disaster."

Oklahoma has the maximum number of abortion restrictions as well as the nation's worst outcomes for women's and children's health, including high maternal mortality rates, higher infant and child mortality rates, higher uninsured rates and lower rates of preventive care.

In a press release on Oct. 28, 2014, the Center for Reproductive Rights reported on North Dakota's decision to uphold a law that severely restricts medication abortion — a non-surgical method of ending a pregnancy in its earliest stages. Of women who choose to end a pregnancy in the first nine weeks, an estimated one in four chooses this non-surgical method.

"The politicians pushing for these unconstitutional and dangerous restrictions have only one goal in mind," says Nancy Northup, president and C.E.O. of the Center for Reproductive Rights. "To prevent North Dakota women — who already face incredible obstacles to the severely limited reproductive health care services in their state — from exercising their legal right to abortion." North Dakota has just one abortion clinic.

In Arizona, the problems begin early. School boards support the removal of birth control and abortion information from student textbooks. Sixty-seven percent of the counties have no abortion clinic, and the state has criminal bans on abortion. Additionally, women seeking abortion services in Arizona are subject to biased counseling requirements and mandatory delays.

"Women do not need any more laws that pretend to protect their health and safety while putting both in jeopardy," says Northup. "It's time these politicians check their priorities and finally be held accountable to the women and children of their states."

The federal Women's Health Protection Act (S. 1696/H.R. 3471) is a bill that would prohibit states from imposing unconstitutional restrictions on health care providers that interfere with women's personal decision making and block access to safe and legal abortion services.

What will happen to Jackie Chan's son now?

More: Jackie Chan's son detained on drug-related charges

But the 32-year-old actor and singer's case is moving forward — Monday, he was indicted on the charge of sheltering others to use drugs, a crime that could cause him to spend up to three years in jail in China.

Jaycee is one of a group of celebrities arrested in China as part of the country's efforts to "clean up social morals," People reports. Others in the group were charged with crimes like drug use and hiring prostitutes, but according to the magazine, Jaycee's alleged crime is more serious.

More: Jackie Chan opens up about his disappointment in son's arrest

So, what's next for Jaycee Chan?

According to People, others in the group of celebs that were arrested have already been released, but the same isn't true for Jaycee, whose charge is among the most serious. He likely won't be released before his trial, the date for which has not yet been announced — prosecutors announced the indictment with only a one-line statement on their website with no additional details.

Jaycee hasn't publicly contested the charge. Video evidence shows a police raid on his apartment, where officers found marijuana, and a friend who was present admitted to using it there. The raid came following a June announcement by Chinese president, Xi Jinping, that declared drug use would be severely punished in the country in an effort to wipe it out altogether. Crackdowns resulted in 7,800 arrests in Beijing alone, according to People.

The arrest has been particularly embarrassing for Jackie Chan, who was named Beijing's anti-drug ambassador in 2009.

"Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked," Jackie Chan said in an August statement. "As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken. I would like to take this opportunity to say to Jaycee: you've done something wrong and you have to be responsible for the consequences," he wrote. "I'm your dad and I'll always be with you. We will face the road ahead of us together. I should also take some of the responsibility because as his dad, I didn't teach him well. Therefore, on behalf of Jaycee and myself, I extend our deepest apologies to everyone for the negative impact this has caused on society."

More: One *NSYNC member won't be at Lance Bass' wedding, and we're bummed

He and longtime beau, Michael Turchin, finally officially tied the knot in front of 300 guests at the Legendary Park Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles Sunday. The wedding was reportedly lavish and packed full of big names, including fellow *NSYNC alums, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick (though famous bandmate, Justin Timberlake, was absent due to touring obligations).

Other high-profile guests reportedly included Kris Jenner, Christina Applegate and Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Lisa Vanderpump.

The pair started dating in December of 2011 and Bass popped the question in September of last year. Just before the wedding, Bass posted an adorable Instagram snap with the caption, "Today I marry the man of my dreams. He makes me smile; he makes my heart melt; he makes me….me. #LanceLovesMichael."

10 Fruits you've been eating wrong, and how to do it right

You don't want to know. The good news is you can now maximize your sweet, sweet fruit consumption thanks to the hacks below.

1. Apples

Apple cores are a myth. That's right — a myth! If you eat your apple starting at the bottom or top instead of starting in the middle, the core disappears, and you're just left with a couple of seeds to spit out (or secretly swallow).

3. Bananas

Leave it to humans to mess up something as simple as peeling a banana. Our other primate friends had it figured out a long time ago: You should start from the bottom to effortlessly peel your banana.

Getting the arils out of a pomegranate sometimes feels impossible to do and can leave your kitchen looking like a murder scene. Turns out a bowl of water makes the process so easy, you might actually start enjoying pomegranates again.

5. Pistachios

10 Common household items your toddler would rather have for Christmas

$

Every parent knows the Christmas morning cliché: Your toddler would rather play with the box the gift came in than the actual gift itself. Haven't we learned anything in our age of modern parenting? Isn't it time we evolved?

Call me coldhearted, but until my kids can link to the present they want on Amazon, I'm all for giving them crap treats I find around the house. Not only does this save me money on unwanted gifts that will soon go to the Goodwill graveyard, but it makes Christmas shopping a breeze.

The mere fact that my toddler begs to sleep with a screwdriver proves my point. Here are 10 everyday objects your toddler would rather have for Christmas.

1. An old wrench

4. Your socks

6. Recyclables

Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter split: How did this happen?

$
0
0

Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton have called it quits, according to a rep for the couple via People magazine. They "separated amicably earlier this year and have continued to be friends and co-parent their children," the representative said. "We would ask that you respect their privacy and that of their children during this time."

More: All of Tim Burton's films ranked and summarized in 140 characters or less

Though the two never married, they had been together since 2001, when Bonham Carter starred in and Burton directed Planet of the Apes.

This Hollywood breakup is particularly jarring because not only were they so adorable and quirkily cute together, but Bonham Carter seemed to be the perfect muse for Burton's fantastically genius, sometimes dark, but always visually brilliant work. She was his Red Queen in Alice in Wonderland and his witch with a heart of gold in Big Fish. She helped bring Dark Shadows to life and managed to bring a strange love story back from the dead in Corpse Bride.

The couple worked so well together creatively and with such flawless chemistry that we just didn't see this coming. Looks like Burton is going to have lean more heavily on his ongoing innovative bromance with Johnny Depp. Not that we're complaining about that.

More: Perfect Cinderella trailer shows a "normal" Helena Bonham Carter

So what could have happened to make the couple "amicably split"? It was rumored that Burton was cheating on Bonham Carter last year when he was caught kissing an unidentified blonde woman in an alley in London in October. Infidelity could have put some strain on their already unconventional relationship. It was also reported at the time that the two were not living in the same house, which wasn't a huge surprise, because they never had. "You never have to compromise emotionally or feel invaded," Bonham Carter had previously said about her living arrangement with Burton.

Whatever the reason for the split, we wish both parties well.

Listed for the same price she purchased them for, Ellen is selling her high-rise Los Angeles condos for $16 million in total. Both properties have two bathrooms and three bedrooms, and have been redone with stone countertops as well as stone and oak flooring. Located in the Westwood condo building, the adjacent pair have golf course and downtown views that any city dweller would love. The smaller of the two is priced at $7.495 million and totals 3,813 square feet of living space, while the larger has 4,158 square feet and a price tag of $8.495 million. The spacious condos look cozy and comfortable with modern accents and decor. Lively properties with well-lit, open-concept flooring, it's a shock that Ellen would want to part with them so soon and without any profit. It's been three long, hard years since the series finale of the show, and producers have been teasing us with the movie ever since. We've finally been graced with a trailer for the flick and we can actually feel the adrenaline coursing through our veins as we watch it.

Maybe it's the awesome soundtracking that was one of the show's signature moves at work again here, but the energy of the story and the actors is palpable through the screen. DVD box sets on repeat have only gotten us so far, so the trailer is some intoxicating stuff.

Ari has returned to the States to accept a studio head position and is still screaming "Lloooooooyd," Sloane and E appear to be functioning as a couple and even attending prenatal yoga together, Vince is back to making blockbusters directed by Billy Walsh and, yes, Drama is still a douche. But what we can't get over is how hot Turtle is looking. Jerry Ferrara has clearly been working out.

The trailer gives just enough away to get us intrigued again (as if that is super-hard), but still leaves us with some burning questions: Is Vince still married, or better yet, did he ever actually get married? Is Mrs. Ari — ahem — Melissa, OK with Ari working again? Is Johnny's Bananas still airing?

The trailer also confirms at least two cameos: MMA fighter Ronda Rousey and the man behind the creation of Entourage, Mark Wahlberg. We also see that the film costars Billy Bob Thornton and Haley Joel Osment, which should be fun.

The trailer — like the show that was only about 25 minutes but easily could have been an hour — leaves you yearning for more.

Kesha wrote a flirty love letter to Dr. Luke, and it might ruin her case

Kesha claims the famed producer drugged her, sexually assaulted her, caused her eating disorder and then threatened her when she tried to break her contract with him, but Dr. Luke says it's all bull and the singer is just making it all up to get out of that contract.

To help prove his case, he just had a birthday card introduced into evidence — and if nothing else, it's a very interesting peek into their relationship.

According to TMZ, although the card is undated, Dr. Luke says it is from 2009 — several years after Kesha alleges he began abusing her — and is covered with lipstick kisses. It's what she wrote in it, however, that could potentially destroy her case.

"To The FOXXY-est producer EVER! Ur just getting better with time! Thank you 4 helping me make my WILDEST dreams come true! I LOVE YOU! xxx KE$HA + Lauren"

There's also an email from Kesha's mom Pebe Sebert that reads, "I hope you know, as much as you have been there for Kesha and me, that we will always be there for you, as family, and friends, if you need anything."

Sebert herself is suing Dr. Luke, claiming he gave her PTSD by raping her daughter. Her suit came a little over a month after he filed against her for what he calls lies about the alleged rape and reportedly trying to extort him into letting Kesha out of her ironclad contract.

Another thing Dr. Luke has going for him: In a 2011 deposition, Kesha swore he never laid a hand on her.

No comment on the new evidence from Kesha's lawyer Mark Geragos, which is surprising, considering how quick he was to blame Dr. Luke for raping Lady Gaga.

Polenta-crusted fish with tomato salad is a simple dinner tonight

I make my weeknight dinners as simple as possible but without compromising the healthy aspect of the meal. I usually go for fish fillets partnered with fresh salads, because it is the easiest healthy meal I can think of. Here is one of my favorite weeknight meals with simple flavors everyone will like: quick fish fillets crusted in polenta.

Polenta-crusted fish fillets with tomato salad recipe

Instead of breadcrumbs, polenta is a good if not better alternative to coat the fish. It gives the perfect crunch outside and keeps the fish tender and moist inside. Pair it with a simple tomato and onion salad that's dressed with a basic French vinaigrette to complete this simple, quick and healthy meal.

Serves 4

Prep time: 15 minutes | Cook time: 20 minutes | Total time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper
  • 12 ounces cherry tomatoes, separated, 6 ounces minced and 6 ounces halved
  • 1 medium onion, minced
  • 1-1/2 pounds fish fillets (sole, halibut or similar fish)
  • 1 cup polenta
  • Sunflower oil, canola oil or any other oil, for frying
  • Baby lettuce

Directions:

  1. To make the vinaigrette, in a small bowl, whisk together the wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, salt and pepper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together the minced tomatoes and onions. Add 1/2 the vinaigrette, and mix well. Set aside.
  3. Cover the fish fillets with the polenta. Pat them lightly to make the polenta stick to the fish.
  4. In a large saucepan with sunflower oil over medium heat, fry both sides of the fish. When both sides are golden brown, transfer them to a plate covered with paper towels to absorb the excess oil. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. To serve, top the fish with the minced tomatoes and onions. For the side, mix together the lettuce, halved tomatoes and remaining vinaigrette.

How Lifetime Christmas movies are actually helping the #HeForShe campaign

It's true, the network has a reputation for producing mindless films for women that don't require a lot of brain power to follow. They're rainy day movies that are often made fun of and a man would never be caught watching. In all honesty, many women don't like to admit they like to watch Lifetime and if they do, it's part of some kind of punch line. What kind of self-respecting person would actually take a Lifetime movie seriously?

But if you actually pay attention to Lifetime's holiday movies, you'll notice something: a lot of the female characters represent the same kind of empowerment Emma Watson's #HeForShe campaign seeks to inspire.

Though there are powerful actresses in Hollywood, female characters are still often marginalized in film. Many are housewives, girlfriends or some object of male desire, but not in Lifetime Christmas movies. Whether it be in their intelligence, career moves or the way they handle themselves in relationships, the central characters in these films are always female and usually in control (or at least taking steps to gain control) of their own lives. But that's not to say they are anti-men, either. The characters still seek romance in their lives, as many women, as well as men, do.

Lifetime has done an excellent job of creating female characters in high-powered positions and who are not afraid to use their intelligence to help other people. For instance, the central character in The Real St. Nick is a psychiatrist and in Holly's Holiday, the title character is an ad executive in New York City. In His & Her Christmas, Liz runs a small newspaper and isn't afraid to use her ingenuity to go head-to-head with a big publication that is threatening to buy her out. In Holiday Baggage, the main character is a single mother and a pediatrician, which is no small task. In A Nanny for Christmas, the main role is a woman who graduated summa cum laude and is a creative, ambitious advertising account manager. She's just been fired from her job, takes a position as a nanny and manages to save her new boss's company with her creative pitch for a client they would have otherwise lost.

While looking for love is a common theme in a lot of Lifetime movies, their crop of holiday films are full of women that are taking control of their relationships and their lives. Holly in Holly's Holiday comes to the conclusion that her search for men has been too superficial and looks deep within herself. The pediatrician in Holiday Baggage remains powerful in the face of divorce and seeks to rectify the relationship between her estranged husband and their daughters before final papers are drawn up. In On Strike for Christmas, a mother/wife refuses to be stepped on by her husband and sons and goes on strike until the males in her family learn to respect and appreciate her. Bottom line, they all make choices that are right for them and have the ability to make those choices, which is really what Emma Watson said her campaign is all about: letting women make their own choices and having the freedom to live their lives in the fashion they want to.

What do you think about Lifetime movies? Are they helping or hurting feminism?

Shocking video shows 'Dead, Dead Michael Brown' sung at retired cop's party

It happened just last week at a party wrapping up a charity golf tournament held at Elks Lodge in Glendale, California, thrown by retired LAPD officer Joe Myers. The evening's festivities included a performance from a singer, who TMZ ID's as Gary Fishell, who is also a member of Elks Lodge. In the video, you can hear the singer perform a gleeful parody of "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" with the lyrics changed to "Dead, Dead Michael Brown."

Here are just a few of the horrific lyrics celebrating the death of a kid at the hands of the police:

And he's dead, dead Michael Brown
Deadest man in the whole damn town
His whole life's long gone
Deader than a roadkill dog

Racist Michael Brown song video

Racist Michael Brown song video

Almost as unbelievable as the stupid, hateful lyrics about someone's child being shot dead in an American street is the fact that not one person in that room seems to be bothered at all. Now, to be fair, you can't see much of the action from the video, but no one stops the song. No one gasps audibly. From the vantage point of video, everyone seems to be carrying on as if this is all normal. That's the scariest part of all.

Heartbreakingly, this is precisely the kind of thing protesters have been screaming about from the streets. It is our worst fears about racist cops come to life, in very clear terms. This is what mothers of black sons in America have to coach their precious babies to navigate every time they leave the house.

"Keep your hands in plain sight," I imagine they repeat over and over again to those little faces looking up at them. "Don't argue. Don't fight back. Don't give them a reason to hurt you."

Don't think that's true? Just watch the video again.

Big families can be green, too

(Please also note that I am being sarcastic here, as I do not think having four children really does place me in an extreme parenting edition of life.)

Here's a recent gem on an article I wrote about being judged in a restaurant for eating out with my three young children and very pregnant belly: "CB; perhaps what you should do is close your legs and stop being a breeder. The world is severely overpopulated. Take your crotch nuggets somewhere else. No one wants them around."

While I will give points for the originality of being able to use the term "crotch nuggets" in a sentence, I am a little tired of the argument that families with more than 2.5 children are ruining the world. In fact, I happen to think that having a large family can be more eco-friendly than many would care to admit.

For starters, large families reign supreme in the realm of reducing, reusing and recycling. My current 4-month-old daughter is wearing a wardrobe almost entirely made up of outfits that her two older sisters wore. Are they a bit faded? Yes. Does she spend the majority of her days at home with me where no one can see her, let alone care if her outfit looks a bit dingy? Um, yes.

"We don't buy many new clothes and all our hand me downs are used within an inch of their lives," comments Meagan Francis, matriarch of a brood of five kids.

Large families generally by their nature of having many mouths to feed are also quick to look for easy ways to save money — which usually translates into making eco-friendly decisions, like getting vehicles that have great gas mileage, cooking at home, packing lunches or avoiding disposable products. Like my family, Meagan has pretty much banned using paper products in her home on a regular basis. "We use reusable materials whenever possible," she says. "Towels instead of paper towels most of the time and we pack lunches." With four kids in the house, I've found it's just not practical to rely on paper towels. For instance, the amount of spills I go through on a regular basis would render me (and an entire) forest pretty broke.

Anne Dziekonska, who runs a photography business with her husband, grew up in a family of sixteen and is adamant about the value of eco-friendly decisions that she learned in a clan of that size. At a very early age she learned to make smart household choices, like always turning off lights when leaving a room, pitching in with the family garden, composting and stocking up on grocery store sales. And while such values can be taught in any size family, Anne does believe that the sheer volume of people in their family made those lessons not only necessary, but reinforced them as a lifestyle that carried on into adulthood. "I learned so much about efficiency and how to use things in moderation," Anne notes. "Waste not, want not is oh-so-true."

Of course, I could go on and on about all the ways that big families can be green, too, but the bottom line is that it's silly to argue that people shouldn't have more children because it's not kind to the environment. A single person can wreak as much damage to the world as the entire Duggar clan, so if we're all so worried about how kids are ruining the world, maybe we need to remember that those kids are an investment in the future and instead take a closer look at our own carbon footprints.
