Two Britax car seats could pose safety risk

Two Britax car seats could pose safety risk

Some Britax Boulevard ClicktTight and Marathon ClickTight car seats may be shipped out with a problem, recently identified by Consumer Reports. They purchased one of each seat and found that both had an issue with their harness straps — namely, they weren't completely secured to the lower anchor. The loops were positioned over the hooks, but they were found to not be fully engaged on either one or both sides. While the other points were secured normally, they caution that the unsecured point might pose a safety risk in the event of an accident as the loop could be pulled through.

The good news? Britax has an option on the ClickTight models that can specifically address this issue. These seats were designed to be easily adjustable by parents, which makes fixing this problem a breeze.

What do parents need to do? Britax released the following statement to Consumer Reports when contacted: "Prior to using the seat, ensure that the harness straps are securely connected to the anchors inside the hook." If you have one of these seats, visit the Britax website for instructions on how to adjust the harness. Photos accompany the instructions, and there are also helpful videos.

If you're not sure you've done it correctly, don't hesitate to take it to a car seat installation professional to check it out.

$

0

That makes me sound really lazy, but I promise I'm not. I love cooking. But some days I love not cooking too, and those are the days this venison bourguignon will be on my menu. The venison meat adds a unique variety to this dish, and the rich ingredients and flavor-packed broth taste like you spent all day making it. Funny thing is, you did — just with a little help from the slow cooker.

Crock pot venison bourguignon

Slow cooker venison bourguignon recipe

This amazing venison bourguignon revamps this classic French dish with an exciting new meat. If you can't find venison, then use beef or pork.

Serves 6

Prep time: 20 minutes | Cook time: 6-8 hours | Total time: 6 hours 20 minutes-8 hours 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 pounds venison stew meat, cut into cubes
  • 1 large yellow onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1-1/2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 russet potatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups chopped butternut squash
  • 2 cups red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh chopped herbs

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Liberally salt and pepper the venison. Add the meat to the pan in batches, being sure to not crowd the pan. Let cook for about 1 to 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Let the meat pull away from the pan naturally — don't move it around too much while it cooks. Repeat until all the meat has been browned.
  2. Reserve the juices in the pan, and add in the onions and garlic. Cook until the onions start to caramelize, about 6 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Transfer the meat to the basin of your slow cooker. Add the onions, garlic, celery, carrots, mushrooms, squash, potatoes, red wine, beef broth, tomato paste, parsley and bay leaf, and then add salt and pepper, to taste.
  4. Cover the basin of the slow cooker, and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or until the vegetables are soft and the meat is tender.
  5. Serve topped with fresh herbs.

What is Thanksgiving?

Although Thanksgiving was historically developed in religious and cultural traditions, many people celebrate Thanksgiving to give thanks for the harvest and the bounty of the past year without any church-based customs.

When is Thanksgiving Day?

In the U.S., Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. Originally, persuaded by Sarah Josepha Hale, Abraham Lincoln issued the Thanksgiving proclamation in October 1863 declaring Thanksgiving a national holiday on the last Thursday of every November. In 1939, Franklin Roosevelt marked Nov. 23 as Thanksgiving day. However, in 1941, Congress passed a law marking the fourth Thursday of November every year as Thanksgiving Day.

Why was the first Thanksgiving created?

Pilgrims sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to reach North America on the ship named the Mayflower. Upon arriving in North America in Plymouth, Massachusetts, the Wampanoag Indians taught the Pilgrims how to cultivate the land. Governor William Bradford organized the first Thanksgiving feast in 1621 and invited the Wampanoag Indians to celebrate the harvest. The celebration lasted three days.

What kinds of food did they eat at the first Thanksgiving?

The traditional foods that we eat today aren't the same as are thought to have been gobbled up on the first Thanksgiving; there wasn't even any turkey on the Thanksgiving table. Local foods like lobster, rabbit, chicken, fish, squashes, onions, dried fruits, cabbage, eggs and more were likely to have made up the historic day's fare.

Does the President of the U.S. really pardon a turkey?

Yes. Since 1947, the National Turkey Federation has annually presented two cooked turkeys and a live turkey to the President. The President then "pardons" the live turkey and allows it to live the rest of its life on a historic farm.

Does eating turkey make you sleepy?

Although tryptophan does make you tired, and turkey contains tryptophan, it's not likely enough to make you doze off at the Thanksgiving table. It's likely that overeating is the cause of your Thanksgiving Day fatigue.

How many turkeys are eaten every Thanksgiving?

The National Turkey Federation reports that more than 46 million turkeys are likely to fly off the shelves in the name of Thanksgiving festivities. Another 22 million turkeys are estimated to be consumed on Christmas.

How did the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade become a Thanksgiving tradition?

In 1924, 400 Macy's employees took to the streets to march through New York City to celebrate the Christmas season. The festivities were rooted in many European immigrants' homeland traditions. But big balloons weren't always part of the parade. Originally, live animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo accompanied marchers.

15. Whole-wheat dinner rolls

It's always tough to lose someone close to you, but it's particularly hard when you're young and you lose someone for the first time. Following the death of his grandmother in early October, 9-year-old Thomas Goodall, a devout Whovian with autism, had a particularly difficult few weeks.

But things started to look up early this week when Thomas received a super-sweet video message from the Doctor himself (Peter Capaldi).

More changes ahead for Doctor Who: Is Clara on her way out?

According to CNN, Thomas' dad, Ross, "reached out to Capaldi through his agent and explained that Thomas was having a hard time dealing with the death of his grandmother." And like any good doctor, Capaldi took to helping Thomas with the healing process.

In the short but sweet video, Capaldi relates to Thomas by saying how difficult it is to travel around time and space when bad things happen, but assures Thomas that he and Clara are on his side and then implores Thomas to look after himself, "take care and be happy."

Doctor Who announces new Doctor

Ross Goodall told CNN that when Thomas saw the video, he smiled for the first time since his grandmother passed away.

"I think it probably meant everything to him… I think it gave him the emotional support that we as parents couldn't," Ross said.

Doctor Who: All the feels from Peter Capaldi's first season

After watching the video for ourselves and seeing Capaldi's gentle response to his No. 1 little fan, we are firmly entrenched in the Team Capaldi camp. We're always buoyed by celebrities who use their fame to bring a smile to the faces of those who are having a tough time, but there's something about Capaldi's approach that really tugs at our heartstrings. As he says, it's nice to know there's someone out there who's on our side.

Miley Cyrus' performance with The Flaming Lips is eye-popping

Whether it's nudity, recreational drug use or bringing attention to social issues such as homelessness, Cyrus certainly knows how to get a conversation started among Twitter and Instagram users. This time, the pop star has people talking about her animals and whether or not she is abusive to them.

Is Miley Cyrus just a walking joke? She thinks so!

The hoopla all started when Cyrus posted a picture of herself giving her pet pig a spa experience by grooming and painting its hooves. Cyrus and friends look to be having a ball, while the pot-bellied pig looks less than enthused, and animal lovers were outraged.

While we agree that painting any animal with toxic paint is probably not the best thing for it and it's safe to say that Cyrus is likely not the most responsible pet owner in the world, the social media comments got seriously out of hand. The internet bullies really came out in full effect.

Here's a look at some of the craziest ones we've seen so far.

The name-callers

Everybody's passionate about something, but name-calling is not really an effective way to call positive attention to your cause. "Isn't this #animalcruelty s***?" @_moonbunny commented on one of Cyrus' photos, and @jaxsphoto said, "You stupid f***ing c***, why would you do this?" And @caitlinsimmlol also dropped the c-bomb.

Andy Dick getting arrested for stealing a necklace is just embarrassing

Early this morning, TMZ reported that comedian Andy Dick had been arrested for allegedly stealing a necklace worth $1,000 off the neck of a fan, who recognized Dick as he was riding his bike. The unidentified man said Dick asked to get a closer look at the necklace and then ripped it off his neck. Dick sped away on his bicycle before the man could pursue him.

Andy Dick sued over groin-rubbing incident

The necklace owner did what any celebrity theft victim should do — no, not tweet about it. He reported the incident to the Los Angeles Police Department.

On Friday night, local coppers saw Dick, again on his bicycle, and arrested him. Luckily, he was able to post his $25,000 bail and is back on his bicycle. There has been no word on where exactly the necklace in question is currently located.

Tara Reid does the impossible and picks her fave Sharknado 2 scene

We have to admit, the fact that Sharknado 2: The Second One actor rides a bike around Hollywood is suspicious. Considering that Los Angeles is the land of cars, we can only assume that Dick's had his driver's license revoked, which wouldn't surprise us at all. Perhaps Dick hasn't had the chance to download the Uber app yet. If he learns anything from this incident, we hope that it's not to slum around Hollywood on a two-wheeler. It's just gauche.

The actor has had a long struggle with drugs and alcohol. However, Dick danced himself to seventh place on the 16th season of Dancing With the Stars, and his career seemed to be heading in a good direction recently.

Dick's voice can be heard in the film L.A. Slasher, coming in 2015. The movie also stars Misha Barton and Drake Bell.

Christina Applegate's battle with cancer: 7 Things you probably forgot

$
0
0

1. She was just 36 when she was diagnosed. While many think of it as a disease older women battle, according to YoungSurvival.org it is estimated that around 250,000 women under the age of 40 are living with the disease in the U.S. alone and more than 13,000 in the age group will be diagnosed this year.

2. About a month before her diagnosis was made public, her boyfriend Lee Grivas was found dead of an apparent heroin overdose while she was grappling with her scary health news. They had dated for about two years. Needless to say, the summer of 2008 was not a good one for the actress.

3. Just like Angelina Jolie, she found out she carries the BRCA genetic mutation, making a cancer recurrence much more likely. Because of this, she opted for a double mastectomy after originally being treated with a lumpectomy.

4. She staged a sexy photo shoot before her mastectomy. "I made sure that I have close-up photographs of them from every angle so I can kind of remember them," she told Oprah.

5. Her mother is also a breast cancer survivor. Because of her family history, Applegate was vigilant about self-exams and mammograms, even moving to MRIs when her breast tissue was deemed dense. This closer look may be what saved her life. The lesson: Early detection doesn't always come from traditional methods like mammograms.

6. She started a foundation to encourage early detection so even more lives can be saved. Right Action for Women offers free MRIs for people at high risk like Applegate was. "Were into almost 500 now," she told Entertainment Tonight in April 2014. "We've spent over half a million dollars on MRIs, which is really incredible, which is a lot of money."

7. Her celeb friends offered their support when she needed it, and she paid it forward. One of her biggest cheerleaders was fellow breast cancer survivor Melissa Etheridge, she told Oprah, and when Giuliana Rancic received her bad news, Applegate reached out in kind. "I know firsthand how important it is to have a strong support system," Applegate said in a statement through the Stand Up to Cancer campaign. "It was a sense of community that helped me, as well as many others, get through a time that is never easy; and why I am so proud to join Stand Up to Cancer and Cancer Treatment Centers of America on this campaign. Each of us has the power to support and fight."

I took an herbal energy supplement that nearly killed me

$

I don't remember the end of my first half marathon, but I definitely remember the beginning: Lined up next to my best friend, waiting for the starting gun, I moaned about how I hadn't trained enough and how tired I was and how I was worried I might not finish until she finally interrupted me.

"Here," she said simply, handing me a large-ish pill and a packet of powder, "take these. They'll give you mega energy for the race. You'll be fine."

Like every good Millennial, I went through D.A.R.E. as a kid — I know not to take random drugs from people. "They're just herbal energy supplements I got at [insert big nutrition store]," she laughed, reassuring me that she took them all the time and never had any problems. And I trusted her — we were both moms, after all. Plus, I really really wanted to run my best race. It wouldn't be the first time my Type A perfectionist personality got me in trouble.

So, I swallowed the stuff and took off running a few minutes later. At first, everything seemed fine, but then I became aware of a strange, tingly feeling coming over me: my hands and feet felt numb, I started tripping and my thinking felt fragmented. But, the worst part was that my legs seemed possessed and suddenly I was sprinting through the pack. As my heart pounded and I gasped for breath, I knew I couldn't keep up that pace, but it seemed I couldn't stop either.

A half marathon — 13.1 miles — is a fairly long distance. For most of us, it means we'll be pounding the pavement for two hours or more. But, I wouldn't know personally because I can't really remember any of it. I remember throwing up in the bushes several times and yet still being possessed by that manic energy. When I crossed the finish line, I sat down until my friends found me. They said I was shaking uncontrollably, so they wrapped me in a blanket and took me home.

Once inside, I collapsed on the floor, crying to my husband that I'd never felt so awful in my whole life and asking him to take me to the ER. I fell asleep, right there on the floor, before he could. When I woke up, I was shaky for a solid 24 hours afterward.

The pills that nearly killed me

I didn't get many answers until a couple of years later when those particular products were pulled from the shelves because they contained dimethylamylamine (DMAA), a stimulant that is chemically similar to methamphetamine. The FDA issued a warning saying that DMAA had been associated with over 80 bad reactions and five deaths — and I could have been one of them. When I told my doctor how I'd felt during that race, he told me I was very lucky I'd vomited because it had probably saved my life by getting some of it out of my system. He left me with a stern warning to not ever do anything like that again, but it was unnecessary because I was already massively ashamed.

Let me be clear: I take full responsibility for my stupid decision to take something unknown. But, my story highlights a growing problem in the rapidly growing health industry. Because supplements are unregulated by the FDA, consumers never quite know what they are getting. In a 2013 report, an independent testing company found everything from prescription antidepressants to sibutramine (a banned weight loss drug) to full-on steroids in several weight loss or exercise supplements sold at popular stores nationwide — and the scariest part is that none of these things were on the label.

Even being found out doesn't stop some shady companies, as the The New York Times reported that many banned supplements quickly make their way back onto shelves under different names. "The new study, published in JAMA (Journal of the American Medical Association) found that out of more than two dozen supplements that were pulled from shelves after they were found to contain anabolic steroids or powerful prescription drugs, roughly two-thirds were back on the market a year later with the same illicit ingredients." Even worse, of these supplements fully two-thirds contained a banned pharmaceutical drug or steroid — unlabeled, of course.

When I originally wrote about my experience during that awful race, I got a lot of irate emails from people who were upset that my (admittedly) stupid decision was casting their favorite workout supplement in a bad light. They said that additional laws or FDA oversight would take away the only effective supplements they'd found (because, hey, steroids!) and that they needed every edge they could get.

My question to them was, and still is: Why? Why are we all so intent on being the strongest or the skinniest (or both) that we're willing to risk our lives? So what if you win your age group at your local race? So what if you beat your personal best on a deadlift? Aren't you enough on your own, unenhanced? I could maybe understand it if you were an Olympic athlete and two-tenths of a second was the difference between a life of fame or a life of ignominy. But, there are no medals for being an adult and not damaging your heart will get you a lot farther in life than any momentary high from "winning."

It's time supplements were regulated — if not by the FDA then at least by a nationally recognized, independent body. We need to recognize that just because something is "herbal" or "natural" doesn't mean it's safe, or even that what's on the label is what's in the bottle. But, it's more important that we ask ourselves why being our "very best" has become so important that we're willing to risk death for it.

Cookie butter makes this hot cocoa and marshmallow sandwich extra-decadent

Have you ever had cookie butter? Or at least heard of it? You may have heard it by its other name, Biscoff. Both are the same thing; it just depends on where you purchase it. Either way, it's absolutely delicious, and there is good reason it's so popular.

I like dipping fruit, cookies (you can never have too much cookie, right?), graham crackers and other snacks into cookie butter. Or just eating it by the spoonful is always good too. However, mixed with marshmallow fluff and made into a grilled sandwich? There is no treat that compares. I just wish there was some way I could pass it off as a breakfast item.

Make sure to check out both recipes in this post. There is one for a cookie butter and marshmallow grilled sandwich as well as a recipe for cookie butter hot chocolate. If you love cookie butter, then you are going to go crazy for the two combined.

"A night out with @iamnikkireed and this amazing guy, our Former President @BillClinton @ClintonFdn discussing the best, most efficient and collaborative way to make true positive change in our country and our world," Somerhalder wrote under his photo with the popular former prez, which was taken during the Recognizing Heroes Awards Dinner & Gala Saturday night.

Below are a few moments, including the one with Somerhalder, that were caught with Clinton as he photobombed or graciously agreed to pose for selfies with the famous.

Nick Jonas is having sex and you can watch him climax (VIDEO)

Jonas has some ridiculously raunchy scenes in the new DirecTV Audience Network series Kingdom, and they definitely are not anything a JoBro of a decade ago could ever have imagined himself in.

Clips of one such scene show the former pop star getting down and dirty with a woman — but apparently he's not that into her, because he winds up faking his orgasm. We took screen shots for your viewing pleasure, but you can see the video clips at Gawker.

Jonas plays a horny MMA fighter in the series, and during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live he hinted that we might even see some more of his obvious courting of the gay community.

"Yeah, there was like three or four sex scenes," he said. "Another little thing is my character has a big story line… revolving around his sexuality."

Seems Jonas is all about sex these days.

"Sex is such an important part of a healthy life, in the sense that it's such an intrinsic part of who you are," he said in the December 2014 issue of Attitude magazine. "When your sex life is not healthy you resort to other things as an outlet. And in terms of the show, that's tough to watch."

In addition to stripping away the last vestiges of his purity and flashing his huge junk whenever possible, Jonas is also busy promoting his new self-titled solo album due in stores Nov. 11, 2014.

Important: New flu guidelines for moms this season

Greater fears about contagious diseases, likely sparked by the recent panic over Ebola, have put this year's flu vaccine in high demand. And that's a good thing, say infectious disease experts. Even though there is currently no vaccine for Ebola and the flu vaccine won't protect you against anything but some strains of influenza, this spike could save a lot of lives.

Thanks to two new scientific developments this year, the CDC has updated its flu guidelines. Officially, experts recommend everyone over six months old get the flu shot or mist, with rare exceptions, but this year they're really pushing the vaccine for pregnant women. In the past, women have worried about the safety of getting the shot while gestating but a new study confirms how important it is.

"The protection that the woman builds up passes through the placenta and goes into the newborn baby and helps protect that newborn baby during the first six months of its life when the baby is too young to be vaccinated itself. And, so, there's a double reason to vaccinate pregnant women," said Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, to NPR.

In addition to pregnant moms and infants, young children are also a very vulnerable group. So not only is it important they get immunized against the flu but this year the CDC has changed its recommendation to say that kids between ages 2 and 8 should now get the FluMist rather than the traditional shot. Several new studies found that because of the way it's made -- from a weakened live virus rather than a dead virus -- the FluMist confers a stronger protection that lasts longer. (Bonus: No needles for terrified tots!)

Lastly, there's the newly approved mega-vaccine that gives you four times the dose of the regular one. While it's generally recommended just for the elderly or people with compromised immune systems, a new study found the high dose was 24 percent more effective at preventing the flu: "any influenza, no matter what circulated, no matter what strain it was." If you or someone in your household suffers from immune issues it's worth chatting with your doctor about it. The researchers found the only notable side effect was increased arm soreness for a couple of days.

But no matter what type of flu vaccine you decide to get, according to the experts, the important thing is to get immunized.

The Mamafesto: We need to stop putting our kids in pink and blue boxes

$

The boys' section is filled with action-filled toys like blocks, trucks and lots of violently-themed toys (guns galore), while the girls' aisles are again stuffed with the "three P's": pink, princess and passiveness. The difference is astounding, especially when most kids actually see and play beyond pink, blue and gender stereotypes.

When my son was young, he didn't quite fit into the so-called boy mold. He preferred his hair long, "like his daddy," and would have rather played with baby dolls over trucks. As he grew older, he declared pink as his favorite color and took to spinning around with a rainbow-colored, homemade tutu before spending an hour hyperfocused on blocks or LEGOs. He straddled the stereotype of what it supposedly means to be a boy or girl. He liked what he liked, and didn't realize he was stepping outside of any lines. And many of his friends were the same — girls who scoffed at dresses while digging in the dirt, another boy who always had his special doll in tow. When given options, these kids seemed to try a little bit of everything.

But as my son, and his friends, grew up, they started to notice the heavy gender divide. One day after school, my son grumbled to me that some kids said that boys couldn't like pink because it's a girl's color. Thankfully, I had the perfect response, crafted by my friend Melissa Atkins Wardy of Pigtail Pals and Ballcap Buddies. "Colors are for everyone," I told him, and it soon became a staple saying in our home.

Some people have asked why I'm so worked up about opening up the options our kids have. The problem is that it's incredibly limiting. Girls shouldn't feel boxed in to toys that 99 percent of the time relate only to princesses, beauty, crafts or home ec. And boys shouldn't feel as if they need to fall into a narrow sense of masculinity based on what's marketed toward them.

Think back to your own childhood. Odds are, there were just LEGOs, not LEGOs for girls and ones for boys. The "My Buddy" doll was marketed specifically at boys, and most toy catalogs showed boys and girls playing with the same toys side by side, not segregated by pink or blue. When we limit our children to certain stereotypes, we limit their creativity, their originality and sometimes, their personality. Gender stereotypes also teach them that anyone who steps outside traditionally-crafted boxes are somehow wrong or bad. So, let's offer our kids more. Let's offer them choices and allow them to express themselves, whether that's in pink, blue or all the colors in-between.

A screened-in porch is just perfect for those crisp autumn nights when the sun sets earlier and earlier. Some homeowners enjoy their porches all year long by adding heaters and outdoor lighting. Embellished with cozy blankets, comfortable cushions and colorful fall mums and you have yourself a fabulous fall porch.

This front porch employs a strong sense of symmetry to create not only a balanced and welcoming entrance, but also one that appears larger than it is. By varying the height of the décor (note the elevated pumpkins and urns), the eye travels up the stairs, creating a nice sense of movement. Follow her tutorial for easy-to-plant sculptural urns.

A simple but consistent color palette is a great way to mix different textures, shapes and patterns. This front door uses orange and white in a repeated design, making for a strong design in a small amount of space. If you can’t find the right type of real pumpkin, opt for a faux version, which can be painted the color you need for your design. Using different heights in this design is a great way to have your fall décor travel “up” the door.

This fall inspired front porch shows just how far creativity can go on a budget. Can’t afford or find white pumpkins? Just spray paint the orange ones! Need to add height to your décor? Grab some tall corn stalks or elevate décor on vintage crates. By sticking to a neutral color palette, this front porch is a refreshing take on traditional fall decoration.

A coat of white paint, along with chalkboard paint, turned this free mantle piece into the perfect front entrance welcome. Tiny shelves are just the right size for placing holiday objects and this piece will easily transition from autumn to winter with a few clever changes. The added hay bales create that warm sense of fall and add some needed height to the entrance.

You’d never guess that this beautiful fall porch was actually located in the tropical heat! Using faux pumpkins (real ones wouldn’t last a day in the heat) along with traditional fall colors is a great way to keep the autumnal spirit close to home. You’d probably also never guess that the custom welcome mat was completed quite simply with a black marker! Read her tutorial on her blog.

A clever mix of mums, cabbage and pumpkins gives this front porch autumnal flair. The handmade chalkboard sign (easy to make when you apply a can of chalkboard paint on top of an old piece of glass) can easily work through all the holidays. Mixing up your pumpkin varieties is a great way to show off the harvest of the season.

This unusual color combination of green and white is made more dramatic with deep, rich purples. Stacking pots on top of each other, and adding tall willow branches, help give this front porch great height - important for decorations that sit next to a tall door. A recycled wreath and faux pumpkins make this design easy to use year after year.

A colorful paper garland and a pretty monogrammed “wreath” make this classic black door feel extra special this fall. Using vintage produce crates to hold bright orange pumpkins is a great way to display autumnal décor. Sweeping the porch clean, and adding a much-needed doormat, shows that this homeowner has spent time making the front porch truly welcoming.

Doritos Mountain Dew

Doritos Mountain Dew

Doritos just might be taking over the world, one food mashup at a time. First there were Doritos Locos tacos. I can get on board with a cheesy chip as a taco shell... that makes some sense. Then, Doritos Loaded, the (powdered) cheesiest mozzarella stick you ever did see. Fine... everyone likes cheese added to cheese, right? But now, with Dewitos, they've gone too far. Nobody needs Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew. Well, one person might:

But Honey Boo Boo aside, I think the rest of the world can do without cheesy soda. As Reddit user joes_nipples first reported, it tasted "like a weird mix of mountain dew flavor and doritos. Like if you shoved a handful of doritos in your mouth and chugged some dew at the same time." I've heard enough, even if he does go on to say, "It honestly wasn't that disgusting." I guess I'm just one of those people who prefers my chips in solid form.

Who says Anna Kendrick isn't pretty? Well, here's our response to you

In a revealing interview in the December issue of Marie Claire hitting newsstands Nov. 18, Kendrick — in her charmingly self-deprecating way — addressed the ongoing fascination about her appeal.

"The most common that that I get is, 'Am I the only one who doesn't think that Anna Kendrick is pretty?' And you're like, 'No, you're not the only one. Arguably, all of the boys in my high school agree with you.'"

10 Things you don't know about Anna Kendrick

Is it admirable the way Kendrick can always roll with the punches? Absolutely. Is it kind of adorable how humble she is? Without a doubt.

But her statement also bums us out. It goes to show how people often put such a premium on superficial attributes over intellectual or emotional ones.

Not to mention the fact that she clearly had a bunch of boneheads in her high school.

The truth of the matter is that beauty is totally subjective in some ways, and not at all in others. As to whether or not Kendrick is a classic beauty, it largely depends on who you ask. We'd be willing to wager our worth that she is a lot of someones' dream girl.

Anna Kendrick ups fave star status by attending WWE event

It's also important to note, though, that Kendrick is beautiful in so many of the ways that aren't subjective.

She is beautiful because she is virtuous and funny and kindhearted and brave — traits that are, for the most part, universally considered to be beautiful.

If it pleases the court of public opinion, we'd like to offer up some evidentiary examples that offer irrefutable proof Kendrick is beautiful both inside and out.

She's an angel

A Lipstick Angel, to be more precise. This summer, Kendrick spent her day helping the benevolent Lipstick Angels organization offer makeup and beauty sessions to women in the hospital. The sweet star wound up at City of Hope treatment center as part of her work with another benevolent project, Burt's Bees' Hive with Heart. "The beautiful thing about that day and about the Lipstick Angels program is that no one can seem to stop grinning," she said.

She's got moxie

Not many young entertainers could hold their own performing in front of a packed crowd that included the POTUS (and FLOTUS, for that matter) and stage greats like Shirley MacLaine and Billy Joel. But Kendrick did. Last December, during the Kennedy Center Honors, the Pitch Perfect actress — looking stunning in a little red dress — nailed her part of the live tribute to the legendary MacLaine.

Her sense of style is spot-on

A regular on fashion-show front rows, Kendrick is a self-proclaimed fashion hound. She's that chick you want to dress like — she somehow always strikes the perfect balance between timeless and eclectic that is so hard to master.

Her deep-rooted sense of style, she says, can be credited to her mother. "[My mom] was always a fan of just really elegant, sophisticated pieces. I mean, we grew up in Maine, so we didn't have a lot of call for black tie or anything, but I think I definitely got that sensibility from her," she said.

Three words: Into the Woods

Anna Kendrick Into the Woods

Christmas cannot come fast enough this year. Yes, we're excited about Santa. Who isn't? But we're also kind of reeling over this trailer from the movie adaptation of the fairy-tale musical Into the Woods, featuring a ton of A-list talent — including, of course, Kendrick, who knocks our glass sippers off as a singing Cinderella.

She's unabashedly honest

These days, honesty is a rare virtue, and it just so happens that Kendrick has it in spades. We adore the fact that she is so willing to share her human experience in the spirit of connecting with others, no matter how embarrassing or awkward it may be. When asked by GQ about her first kiss, she offered up the candid truth. "I was thinking, Oh no, this is a mess. I don't know if I'm going to be able to deal with this for my entire adult life. At first it was a struggle to nail the mechanics of it, but at some point I figured it out." And, I mean, c'mon. We've all been there, right?

She's incredibly kind, too

In addition to serving as a Lipstick Angel, Kendrick is always willing to lend a hand to help out charitable organizations and good causes. She's loaned her name and time to a benefit for The Art of Elysium. She's taken the stage with Kristin Chenoweth to sing in the name of The Trevor Project. She's joined other celebs like Anne Hathaway to support veterans. And, yep, she's even doused herself down in support of ALS awareness.

To state the obvious she is, in fact, gorgeous

Seriously. Just look at her. We think it's safe to say all that inner beauty Kendrick boasts shines right through, since she's got a pretty fabulous outside as well. Wouldn't you agree?
