Channing Tatum's "The Dick Graze" makes us love him even more

0
0

In "The Dick Graze", Tatum raps that waving and fist pounding is played out. And handshakes? Please. Who shakes hands anymore? The dick graze is hipper, funnier and there is no risk of spreading germs and viruses. It's also quick and easy — just a quick skim of a guy's junk says, "Hey Dude, how's it hanging?" Tatum says this greeting is only for the boys, which 22 Jump Street co-star, Jillian Bell, objects to.

Fear not, ladies. Our new secret handshake is the, um, "tit graze." Already popular on college campuses everywhere, this gesture is executed by skimming your friend's boob. You can see why these greetings do not cross gender lines. One gal's handshake is another guy's arrest for assault. At the end, we learn a valuable lesson about what happens when these salutations are not delivered correctly.

J.K. Rowling shuts down Dumbledore gay basher with the most perfect tweet

Harry Potter director may helm J.K. Rowling’s Fantastic Beasts >>

Twitter user, Frank Fraticelli, wrote to the author, explaining why he is no longer a Harry Potter fan: "Once u revealed Dumbledore was homosexual I stopped being a fan. Nice how u blindsided us with that one. Enjoy your billion $."

Fraticelli’s account has since been deleted, but not before Rowling got her chance to tell him exactly what she thinks of his opinions.

"I advise you to start following Brian Souter at once,” Rowling wrote. “He's much more your kind of person."

According to E! News, Souter has recently been involved in a campaign to ban the teaching of homosexuality in schools.

It was seven years ago that Rowling revealed Dumbledore’s sexuality in a Q&A at Carnegie Hall, when she said, "I always thought of Dumbledore as gay. If I had known this would have made you so happy, I would have told you years ago."

J.K. Rowling pens note to shooting survivor Cassidy Stay >>

After the homophobic tweet and Rowling's perfect response, comments from Harry Potter fans poured in. The messages included support for Rowling and her response. Through it all, she wanted to make sure they all know that she is OK.

"I want to thank all the people tweeting me lovely messages. Don't worry about me," she tweeted. "To paraphrase Albus Dumbedore… If you're waiting for universal popularity, you'll be on Twitter a VERY long time. XXXX"

J.K. Rowling has recently gotten back in the Harry Potter game. She released a new story back in July and has plenty of plans for where the story can go in the future.

What does The Vampire Diaries have in store for Damon? (VIDEO)

Aside from Elena (Nina Dobrev) conjuring back the stud in the new trailers because she just can't let him go (who can blame her?), Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will be around for much more than just some much-needed Elena support.

The Originals' Joseph Morgan interview: Good news for Klaroline fans >>

Somerhalder told Extra TV that in Season 6, Damon "just wants to get back home... it's funny because it's not just about Elena anymore. It's about his brother, too."

It looks like Damon will succeed in that mission and not too long after the season begins. Somerhalder posted this bloody picture on his Instagram not too long ago.

"He's back #DamonSalvatore," Somerhalder said of the image.

Hiss all you want: Caroline & Klaus' love is eternal >>

He also posted the following picture on Sept. 5, despite saying he would probably get in trouble for the image.

Ian Somerhalder Instagram photo 2

"Hmmm, who am I talking to???" the actor said in the caption. He posted the image to give a shout-out to the post-production team on the show, but we can't help but notice his face seems to be bloody. Unless ghosts can get so scuffed up, we're going to say Damon is alive and kicking.

An image from Sept. 4 from Somerhalder pretty much seals the deal that Damon is, in fact, back in the land of the living on the show.

Ian Somerhalder Instagram photo 3

Ian Somerhalder Instagram photo 3

"Shooting with these two dudes..." Somerhalder explained. For those of you who aren't as in the know with the show, those are daylight rings. They protect vampires from the sunlight. Damon wouldn't need one if he was dead.

POLL: Should The Vampire Diaries' Kol and Finn return to The Originals? >>

Somerhalder seems to be really going the distance to prove to fans he's far from gone. According to Entertainment Weekly, Somerhalder said, "I had some really great scenes with Paul [Wesley] not too long ago, like last week. You definitely see some great stuff with those boys. It's good when they're not at one another's throats." We don't think Stefan (Paul Wesley) has joined Elena on her witchy spell endeavor, so we're going to say the brothers will be reunited and not too far into the upcoming season.

It's a good thing we'll get some closure in Season 6, as it may, in fact, be the show's last. The stars' contracts will be up for renewal and both Somerhalder and Dobrev seem to be ready to move on to bigger and better things. Whether or not The CW can rope the cast into more appearances has yet to be determined. Still, we wouldn't be surprised if this is the season to finally settle the Damon, Stefan and Elena love triangle. All roads point to Elena and Damon ending up together and Caroline and Stefan finding their happily ever after. But it is The Vampire Diaries, after all. Those roads could come with many, many unexpected forks.

Can Tom Hiddleston hack it as Hank Williams? (VIDEO)

Thor's Tom Hiddleston proves that he's hot and humble >>

Hiddleston surprised fans in Michigan over the weekend by performing at the Wheatland Music Festival — in character as the legendary singer. According to the Huffington Post, the Brit played Williams’ hits, "Move It On Over" and "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry."

It was announced back in January that the Thor star was selected to play Williams in the biopic and the actor has been working to get into character ever since. Because he will be singing and playing as Williams, it looks like Hiddleston is working to perfect his music, as well as his character.

But not everyone is happy with the casting choice. Hank Williams III took to Facebook to share his disappointment in Hiddleston’s singing.

"Here is how you do it TOM ,You got no Moan Or SOul In your voice," he wrote (along with a video of himself singing his grandfather’s music), adding that he is not against the movie, just the casting choice.

So, who would he like to play his famous granddad? Matthew McConaughey.

"Matthew McConaughey would be a good person for this role because he has played many roles as a Southern man. And he is from the South. And that is something no amount of money or acting classes can put into a role," he told Fox News. "The other reason I thought Matthew would be a good fit for the role is because he has a natural arrogance, aka fire, that is needed for this role. Hank Sr. was very very sure of himself and basically very cocky. And Matthew always brings that fire to the table in every role he [plays]."

One Direction's Zayn Malik named GQ's best-dressed man >>

I Saw The Light will follow Williams through his life and will document his rise to fame and his young death. Williams died more than 60 years ago, in 1953, at the age of only 29 from heart failure.

A fan caught Hiddleston on camera at the Michigan festival, and from the sound of it, he is well on his way to being a believable Hank Williams.

We can't see Miley Cyrus' talent past her twerking

Miley Cyrus vows at the VMAs that her twerking days are behind her >>

"It's not about twerking — it's about the music," Miley told red carpet correspondents. And, of course, we took her confession with a grain of salt. Turns out we were right.

Miley showed up to Alexander Wang's Fashion Week after-party the complete opposite of her red carpet persona. For one thing, she was topless, wearing nothing above the waist but sparkly, tasseled ice-cream cone pasties. She chose to pair them with pill-covered sunglasses, because nothing says "focused on my music" like pasties and pill-covered sunglasses.

Raunchy act gets Miley Cyrus banned in the Dominican Republic >>

And once inside, Miley proved that all those things she said about giving up the twerk? Well, we shouldn't have gotten our hopes up. Photos posted to Twitter show Miley getting her twerk on all over that party. Other photos show her getting craaazy cozy with Alexander Wang — like, open-mouthed, tongue-filled kiss cozy.

Miley at Alexander Wang

If we've learned anything from Miley's wild antics, it's that she's not afraid to be shocking. From grinding on a then-married Robin Thicke to getting banned from an entire country because her stage shows are too scandalous, we have to wonder where exactly Miley draws the line.

Here's the thing: We're over the twerk. If "Wrecking Ball" taught us anything, it's that a serious, settled-down Miley is capable of writing and performing some amazing, emotional music. If leaving the twerk behind means more music like that, we're all for it. Here's hoping this was just a temporary fall off the twerk-wagon and Miley will be back to focusing on her music after this lapse.

How Emily Ratajkowski went from a Robin Thicke video to the biggest movie of the year

Intense public scrutiny prepped Ben Affleck for Gone Girl >>

Ratajkowski will next be seen in Gone Girl, along with Ben Affleck, and she admits that she still has a lot to learn about acting. She told People that Affleck and Gone Girl director, David Fincher, are "really knowledgeable teachers."

The film is one of the most anticipated of the year — it is based on the best-selling book of the same name about a man's life after his wife disappears. Ratajkowski plays Affleck's mistress in the film and said she was ready for the role.

"I thought they wouldn't have cast somebody that they didn't have a little faith in, so that gave me the extra boost of confidence," she said.

And although Ratajkowski’s rise from a music video to a huge movie may seem like a weird path, they may have a lot in common. Apparently, Ben Affleck saw the actress in the Robin Thicke video and suggested she audition for the role.

Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines": Catchy or "rapey"? >>

Affleck and Fincher's adaptation for the film is yet to be seen, but Ratajkowski revealed that "people who have read the book will be very happy with the movie."

Gone Girl isn't the last you will hear from Ratajkowski. She is now busy filming her next project — We Are Your Friends, alongside Zac Efron.

Gone Girl will be out in theaters on Oct. 3.

Demi Lovato inspired me to share my experience with mental health

Demi Lovato after rehab: I still have bad moments >>

While a celeb fighting for a cause may not seem new, Lovato's message is simple: You are not alone. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, one in four adults struggles with a mental illness in each given year. What this means is that each and every one of us is likely affected. According to the Washington Post, Lovato went to Washington, D.C. last week as a first step to get Congress to do something.

But there is still a stigma associated with talking about mental health. Maybe we should all take some inspiration from Demi Lovato and share our stories? Here's mine: I have numerous family members who suffer from a mental illness, including addiction, depression and bipolar disorder. My life has been significantly impacted by this in many ways, but they have too often fallen between the cracks. As a teen, I was diagnosed with depression, but assumed I would grow out of it. And it's a daily struggle. As someone who is self-employed, I have put my own health (mental and otherwise) on the back burner.

According to NAMI, 60 percent of adults and almost half of kids and teens aged 8 to 15 with a mental illness received no mental health services in the last year.

Stories of survival: Female celebs who've overcome adversity >>

I have worked with struggling teens and young adults and have seen how mental health can affect lives. Suicide, depression and addiction is an epidemic among our youth — and adults — and it's time to do something about it.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness launched a "Day of Action," where around 1,500 people went to the nation's capital over the weekend to lobby for "a comprehensive mental health bill." Lovato was right there with them.

"Those of us here today know that mental illness has no prejudice," she told the crowd. "It affects people of every race, age, gender, religion and economic status. It doesn't discriminate between Republicans or Democrats, either."

Next stop for Demi Lovato: A Grammy and an Oscar?

Lovato admitted that her bipolar diagnosis was "a relief in so many ways," and said that it was time for Congress to act.

"I want to show the world that there is life — surprising, wonderful, unexpected life — after diagnosis."

Reddit, banning celeb nudes isn't nearly enough

JLaw, Kate Upton nude pics to be featured in gallery >>

Now, websites from Twitter to Reddit are taking steps to stop the distribution of those photos. Twitter has vowed to suspend the accounts of users who share links to the photos, and just today, Reddit announced that it was disbanding its "TheFappening" subreddit, a community dedicated to sharing nude photos of celebrities.

On one hand, taking steps to stop this is a commendable move by Reddit. On the other, it's a half-hearted publicity stunt.

"We believe that you — the user — have the right to choose between right and wrong, good and evil, and that it is your responsibility to do so," Reddit CEO, Yishan Wong, wrote in a blog post Saturday. Reddit is famously hands-off when it comes to content. Its stated belief is that "each subreddit community has the right and responsibility to establish its own norms." In some cases, this results in subreddits with harmless rules — nothing political on the subreddit for "funny" things, for example. In other cases, it means users are free to post some truly deplorable content.

Jill Scott nude photos posted to Twitter in possible new hack >>

Because of its "anything goes" approach, Reddit is central to, and instrumental in, the online distribution of "revenge porn," which is typically nude photos shared online by exes in an attempt to get back at those who have spurned them. Revenge porn largely targets women. And, like the hacked celebrity photos that have had the media spotlight for the last few weeks, revenge porn represents a serious sex crime.

Subreddits like "PhotoPlunder," which features nude pictures of women under the subtitle, "They should know better," is still up and running, despite "TheFappening" having been shut down.

The main reason you shouldn't look at JLaw and other celebs' nudes >>

So, Reddit, I won't commend your efforts to stop celebrity nude photos from spreading online. Your preferential treatment of celebrities, while refusing to crack down on similar crimes against "average" women, simply isn't enough.

Kendall Jenner's newest ambition

Kendall Jenner's newest ambition

Kendall Jenner has definitely made a name for herself as something other than just another member of the Kardashian clan. The gorgeous 18-year-old has begun to form a really impressive modeling portfolio. In her early days (hilarious, I am talking about a literal teenager and using the phrase "early days" in a sincere way) Kendall made more headway doing gigs that skewed commercial in nature. But all that changed at fashion week in New York this week when Kendall strutted her stuff for Diane Von Furstenberg opposite famous veterans like Naomi Campbell.

Kendall told an E! news reporter than transitioning from commercial work to jobs that are more high-fashion in nature isn't always easy. While it's good to see that she's being realistic and keeping both feet on the ground, I have no doubt that before long Kendall will be dominating the upper echelons of the fashion world. I mean, she doesn't exactly come from a family of low achievers.

Have your sundae and eat it too with banana split mini pies

I remember when I was a kid, my dad went to this fancy ice cream parlor and ordered a banana split. This thing was so big a family of six could have easily eaten it together. My dad was confident he could finish the dessert himself, so we sat by and watched. He made it about halfway and finally threw in the towel. We still laugh about this story, and we now know to make sure banana splits are served a bit smaller. These cute little banana split ice cream pies are perfect for just one person and taste just like the classic banana split, but in pie form. What could be better?

INTERVIEWS: Red Band Society crew promises rivalries, hookups and soapy goodness

CW's The Flash: Your boyfriend will love it more than you >>

On the surface, it appears the show follows the trials and tribulations of high school students who are in long-term care, but Mimoun, who is an executive producer for the program, revealed to SheKnows that relationships are what will take the forefront. According to Mimoun, there will be a whole lot of hooking up going on between hospital staff, as well as the teens, and rivalries pop up within the first couple episodes of the show.

Meryl Streep and Octavia Spencer return for 2013 Oscars >>

"One of the things we're moving towards is telling some more of our adult story lines because we are so fortunate to have actresses like Rebecca and Wilson and Octavia and Dave Annable," said Mimoun. "We really want to explore their lives as much as we do the kids. So, as we move forward, you're definitely going to see more of them and that will be soapy goodness and wonderfulness coming up and we introduce some more adult characters on the show as early as episode two."

REVIEW: 3 Things we love about Red Band Society (and 1 we hate) >>

Lips were sealed as to which of the adult characters would be getting cozy, but Rittenhouse, who plays nurse, Brittany Dobler, teased that she might be getting in on the action and it could involve one of the hospital's doctors. "I might, I might," Rittenhouse said coyly when asked if she'll be getting close with any resident MDs. "I think that's all I can say!" Annable's character, Dr. Jack McAndrew, and Dobler would make a mighty fine couple... just sayin'!

But as relationships heat up, it looks like bonds will be broken pretty quickly, as well. "There will be more fracturing," said Mimoun. "We see in the pilot how important the Red Band Society becomes to these kids and how they sort of rely on it and depend on it and right away in the first five episodes we see a divide as a result of one of our love triangles sort of blowing up."

One thing that echoed through Cruz, Mimoun and Rittenhouse's statements was that Red Band Society is also a powerful show because, at its very root, it is about human experience. "I grew up in a lot of ways like these kids, in that tomorrow wasn't guaranteed to any of us and I think that changes the way you look at your life," said Cruz, who added that he came of age during the AIDS epidemic and lost many loved ones in the '80s. "It's not what we're dealing with, it's how we are dealing with it and how we get through it that's important. It's how you deal with adversity. That's what the show is about. The show's about how much you love the people around you and the relationships you build. It's not about death or disease... it's about life."

Check out Red Band Society when it premieres on Sept. 17 at 9/8c on Fox!

Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon up the iPhone 6 cool factor

First, U2 played a concert during the product-unveiling event in Cupertino, California, today and, now, Justin Timberlake and his pal, Jimmy Fallon, are making appearances in a commercial for the upcoming phone.

Why did Justin Timberlake thank Ellen DeGeneres at the 2014 People's Choice Awards? >>

Though neither Fallon nor Timberlake can be seen in the commercial, they make up for it as they both a cappella hum the theme song from 2001: A Space Odyssey as their hands introduce the iPhone 6 and the larger iPhone 6 Plus.

The harmony is perfectly hilarious. And we definitely pushed repeat once the ad was over. How often does that happen when you ever watch a commercial? Which means this one is definitely worth the play.

The words "Bigger than bigger" close out the commercial as Fallon and Timberlake belt out the final long note.

This ad signals some much-needed good publicity for Timberlake, who has been in the news recently for supposedly cheating on his wife, Jessica Biel, with a female backup dancer while he's been on tour. Though the claims are unconfirmed, that hasn't stopped a host of suspicious articles recently.

Justin Timberlake wants to camp out in your house >>

Aside from the option of two different size screens, the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will offer curved edges, and the bigger screens allow for bigger batteries, which will up the video watching to 11 hours and 14 hours, respectively, compared with the 10 hours on the iPhone 5S. Additionally, the phone will feature an eight megapixel camera with a new sensor that will help the camera focus faster.

The new iOS 8 software update will be available Sept. 17 to customers who have an iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5C or iPhone 5S.

The new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus phones will be available Sept. 19 in the United States. Pre-orders begin this Friday.

4 Color combinations designers swear by

1. Blues and greens

color combos

color combos

"Colors have a language and stir feelings on their own," says Brooks, who offers a free Paint Colors for Your Home e-book full of DIY tips. "For example, pale blues and greens mixed with tans often translate into a 'beach-y,' serene feeling.

2. Pinks and corals

color combos 2

color combos 2

Pale pinks and corals give off a romantic or feminine quality, yet some still bold enough to cause some people to think twice about incorporating them into their homes. To help her clients decide what color to paint a particular room, Brooks asks them to consider questions like: What color is most prominent in your wardrobe?; What color calms you?; What color excites you?; and What color are your favorite flowers?

Color tip: Pull tons of swatches

"At the paint store, I pull any swatch I give a second look," she says. "Then I narrow it down by my starting piece, muse or other inspiration that I have gathered. After I narrow them down to four or five hues, I then narrow down my selections tonally as well."

3. Black and white… and orange

Color combos 3

When designing with color, Dee Dee Taylor Eustace — founder of design firm Taylor Hannah Architect and star of HGTV's The Real Designing Woman, prefers classic color schemes. "I like to use black and white, but also love using creamy whites, blues and grays with accents of Hermes orange," says Eustace. "These colors give a timeless feel to each room, and that's something I like to incorporate into my designs."

Color tip: Adjust the shades

The Toronto-based designer doesn't change her color-combo faves with the seasons, but, she says, "If anything, I change the shades." For fall and winter, she opts for darker blues and grays, and she prefers creamy colors for spring and summer.

4. Soft neutrals

Color combos 4

Arkansas-based interior designer Tobi Fairley of Tobi Fairley & Associates is known for her bold style. But if you are hesitant to use color, she advises you to "start with a neutral base, keeping your largest and most expensive pieces in your favorite neutral tones." She adds: "This gives you longevity for these investment pieces, and brighter colors can be introduced in smaller doses."

Fairley shows how to easily incorporate and layer color in your home step-by-step in a YouTube video, where she transforms her chic living room "from bland white to a symphony of blues and greens" as an example.

Color tip: Start with a neutral backdrop

"With a neutral backdrop, it is easy to add, use and change up vibrant colors in your home," says Brooks, who often accents a neutral room with bold purple, red and orange accessories. "I love switching the drapes, pillows and throws for seasonal variety."

A few of her no-fail neutral colors by Benjamin Moore include Grand Hills Gold, Gray Owl, Silken Pine and Nantucket Fog. "These are my versions of neutrals that I use in 90 percent of the spaces I design," she says.

World's first smartship amps up tech to attract new cruisers

Seriously, what's not to love about getting onto a boat and spending a week surrounded by free food, not-so-free booze, fun in the sun and tons of random activities, like gambling and bingo? In case you can't tell, I had a great time on both cruises I sailed on, one out of Texas and the other out of California.

Beyond some of the bad press surrounding cruises lately, some travelers don't share my enthusiasm for being "lost at sea." I try my best to browbeat my friends into agreeing with me about my love of cruising, but I'm normally met with a few common complaints.

For starters, cruisers absolutely hate waiting in line to embark and disembark the ship. (For the record, I do too, which is why I normally soften the blow with a drink beforehand.) Other complaints on the laundry list include paying exorbitant amounts for Wi-Fi at sea, an overall distaste for lackluster onboard activities and a burning anger for being slapped with an unpleasant and surprising bill for all the "extras" at the end of the trip.

Video: Experience Quantum of the Seas

Video: Experience Quantum of the Seas

Popular cruise line Royal Caribbean has got it all figured out. Its new Quantum of the Seas ship is being hailed as the "world’s most futuristic cruise ship by a long shot when it launches in November." The tech-forward, smart cruise ship was designed to solve common cruising problems that might stop passengers from booking again.

If you have no soul and hate bingo, then maybe you'll enjoy skydiving in Quantum of the Seas' 23-foot indoor vertical wind tunnel or a round of bumper cars instead. If you hate spending your child's college fund on overpriced cocktails, then perhaps service from robot bartenders will cushion the blow.

The Quantum "smartship" shows its true colors in an array of technology intended to convert the anti-cruiser. You'll get on board in record time with an estimated 10-minute sidewalk-to-stateroom check-in. If you want to catch up on email at sea, Quantum provides more bandwidth than all other cruise ships combined. This technology did not exist until a few months ago.

And for all the cruisers who complain about being trapped like sardines in a can, Quantum has pulled out all the stops. Cheaper interior cabins feature floor-to-ceiling virtual balconies on 80-inch LED screens. There isn't a bad seat in the house.

Fatherhood made Neil Patrick Harris re-fall in love with his fiancé >>

Gilbert was speaking with the other Talk ladies during their "Facing Your Fears" segment and she explained why she wouldn't be able to go through with hers.

"I really do believe in facing your fears and doing things that make you uncomfortable, but I actually can't do the dare because I'm pregnant," Gilbert said, according to ABC News. "I feel good, I feel really good. At first I was really tired."

Gilbert married Linda Perry earlier this year and it will be the couple’s first child together (Gilbert has two children from a previous relationship).

The newlyweds are just one of many celebrity gay couples who have been proving family is what you make it. Two other couples made big announcements this week.

"Harper is going to be a big sister," Wolfe announced on Today back in August. "I figured I got pregnant, I did it right the first time. I'm just going to do the exact same thing again and we're going to hope for the best."

These couples have proven what family really means and are in the process of changing the world. Congrats to the growing families!

Ariana Grande fires back at diva demand rumors

Ariana Grande defends her bro Frankie after homophobic slur >>

First, fans accused her of snubbing them during a meet and greet gone wrong. Now, according to Perez Hilton, a photographer named Chris Pavlich is saying Grande got mad over her outfit during their photo shoot in Australia and stormed off the set after only a few shots.

The singer apparently wanted Pavlich to delete the photos she didn't approve of and, when he refused, she canceled the shoot altogether.

Aside from her alleged tantrum during the shoot because she didn't like the top she was wearing, she also had some specific instructions for the photographer: He wasn't allowed to use natural light and he could only shoot her from the left side of her face.

Ariana Grande's mom was worried she'd become a serial killer >>

Grande says these allegations are entirely off-base. She told 96.One, "It was just a photographer or something who got mad at me because I left to change my outfit mid-photo shoot because I didn't like my top. I was like, 'Oh, I'll be right back!' and then I came back and he had left.' I was like, 'Oh, s***!' And then he came out and said all these ridiculous untrue things about me. I was like, 'That's not real. That's nonsense!'"

But the photographer isn't the only one saying the singer had some diva demands. Australian media was invited to interview the singer and was given a list of topics that were off-limits for questions, according to news.com.au. The restrictions included no questions allowed about her collaboration with Justin Bieber, her past relationships or Mariah Carey, no questions about her grandfather who recently passed away and no questions about Sam & Cat or Jennette McCurdy.

Hot new couple alert: Are Ariana Grande and Big Sean dating? >>

We definitely understand that some private life topics should be left off the table, but requests should be handled respectfully for all parties involved.

Grande says they were. "My fans know who I am, my family knows who I am, my friends know who I am. And that's all that matters... no matter what you do, no matter what your profession is, no matter how old you are, everybody deals with haters."

How to make a tuna and avocado sushi hand roll at home

While you can definitely pre-make the roll and simply wrap it in plastic wrap, older kids will love showing off their sushi-making skills to their friends at school.

Tuna sushi hand roll

Start by slicing a cucumber lengthwise. If the seeds are small like these, then you can leave them in. For larger seeds, scoop them out with a spoon.

Tuna sushi hand roll

Slice a spear from 1 of the halves (about 1/3 in width of the cucumber half). Trim if necessary so that it is about the same length as your piece of nori.

Tuna sushi hand roll

Mix the can of tuna with mayonnaise and Sriracha sauce. If your child doesn't like spicy food, then skip the Sriracha sauce. I like to use Wild Planet tuna because it is sustainable and lower in mercury. You will only use 1/2 the tuna mix for a roll.

Tuna sushi hand roll

To pack a DIY sushi kit for your child, put cooked rice and the tuna into separate containers. You can add an avocado half for them to slice with a plastic knife, or pre-slice it for them, and place it in another container. A great way to keep the nori from getting torn or folded is to either keep it in the original packaging or place 1 sheet in a gallon-size zip-top bag and then inside a folder in their backpack.

Tuna sushi hand roll

To make the sushi, spread the rice in a very thin layer on the sheet of nori. There should be about a 1/2-inch border on 1 long side and a 1-inch border on the other long side.

Spread the tuna mix onto the rice, and then lay the cucumber spear along the closest rice edge.

Tuna sushi hand roll

Line up the avocado slices near the opposite edge of the rice. The slices will use up only 1/4 of the avocado, so the rest can be added as an extra snack with lunch.

Tuna sushi hand roll

Starting at the cucumber edge, carefully roll up the sushi. If your child has a water bottle, then adding a little water on the outside edge can help seal the seam.

The sushi roll can be left whole as 1 long roll, but our family prefers it cut in half to make easy-to-hold hand rolls. You can also pack a soy sauce packet or a small container of soy sauce for dipping.

Robert Downey, Jr. says addiction is a family problem

Lindsay Lohan breaks her sobriety & her life coach quits >>

"For some folks it's just a function of age," Downey, Jr. said to Vanity Fair about overcoming addiction. "It's perfectly normal for people to be obsessive about something for a period of time, then leave it alone," he continued.

Downey, Jr. admitted that he's so far removed from the battles with drug and alcohol addiction that marred his life through most of his early career, that he almost doesn't even believe the tale himself. While speaking on his experiences in jail (he spent time at the California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility and State Prison) and reintegrating back to "normal" life, Downey, Jr. said, "Job one is get out of that cave. A lot of people do get out but don't change. So the thing is to get out and recognize the significance of that aggressive denial of your fate, come through the crucible forged into a stronger metal. Or whatever. But I don't know if that was my experience. It's funny: 5 years ago I would have made it sound like I'm conscious of my own participation in seizing the similarities. But so many things have become less certain. I swear to God, I am not my story."

It's obvious that Downey, Jr. has come triumphantly out the other side of his darker times: He's the centerpiece of the massive Iron Man franchise, he's been named Forbes' highest-paid actor for the past two years in a row, he's been happily married to his wife, Susan Downey, since 2005 and the couple is expecting a baby girl in November. But for every RDJ who emerges victorious out of rehab, there are five Lindsay Lohans who don't.

The theory "you'll grow out of it" could be dangerous fodder for a young adult battling addictions. If a person is truly ill, then such notions could easily be used as an excuse to keep abusing.

Downey, Jr. himself says in the interview that addiction is a family problem and possibly the cause of his addiction, as well as his son Indio's, who was recently jailed and charged with drug possession after being busted with cocaine in June. He doesn't reveal how the family is dealing with Indio's problem, but he did say that it's important not to get caught up in the struggles. "You're confronted with histories and predispositions and influences and feelings and unspoken traumas or needs that weren't met, and all of the sudden you're 3 miles into the woods," he said. "Can you help someone get out of those woods? Yes, you can. By not getting lost looking for them. Pick a dysfunction and it's a family problem."

What do you think of Downey, Jr.'s "live and learn" theory? Is it advice you would impart to someone you love who is battling addiction?

How I felt listening to Calvin Harris' new song "Blame" (GIFs)

So, we all know Calvin Harris as that guy who produces songs that all sound the same. Or is that Avicii? Or is that Tiesto? Trick question! It's all three.

We can hate all we want, though. Sooner than later, we end up caving and jamming out to them in our cars or even at work at least four times a day. (Spotify, please stop adding "Summer" to your playlists. Kthxbye.)

The worst (or best) part? We still love it. We love every single Calvin Harris song.

Ready, set, press play. And who knows, maybe you'll have the same experience I did.
