Jason Biggs jokes about Malaysia Airlines in wake of latest crash

0

As gruesome details and reports of the Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crash scene in the Ukraine are starting to pour in, Biggs has created a war zone for himself on social media. After posting a series of tweets joking about the latest tragedy and infuriating many, the actor has been unapologetically defending his response to the crash.

Rose McGowan explodes on Instagram >>

Compared to some of Biggs' previous tweets that have erred on the edgy side, Thursday's posts are relatively benign. However, considering the scale of the event and the amount of casaulties involved, it seems the public was not ready to have a laugh. His opening tweet read simply, "Anyone want to buy my Malaysia Airlines frequent flier miles?" with which he followed, "In all seriousness tho-HOW DO YOU MISTAKENLY SHOOT DOWN A COMMERCIAL PLANE?! Ugh," and, "It's saddest for the victims and their families, obviously. But Malaysia Airlines is apparently a GREAT airline. Gonna be tough to recover."

The Orange Is the New Black actor then went on the defense, posting, "Hey all you 'too soon' a**holes- it's a f***ing joke. You don't have to think it's funny, or even be on my Twitter page at all," and, "Truly- you losers are literally trying to find shit to get angry about. Channel your issues elsewhere." Biggs also wanted to make the point that he has empathy for the victims, despite his ill-timed humor.

This is not the first time Biggs has created backlash for joking about tragedy. In May, he also took to Twitter to joke about the death of The Bachelorette contestant, Eric Hill, who died suddenly the month before.

In June, Biggs also reignited a feud when he openly mocked the body of his former co-star, Tara Reid, on Joan Rivers' web show.

As the victims' loved ones are just learning of this horrific event, we have to say: Yes, Jason... it's too soon. Even for joking.

What does silicone have to do with makeup primers?

0

Primers seal out imperfections for a flawless finish. Sound familiar? You might agree that the most important paint of all — our makeup — would benefit from a similar technique.

A primer on makeup primers

Full disclosure: Until recently, I didn't even know that makeup primers existed. These products claim many benefits, including skin tone correction and wrinkle reduction. They also claim to help makeup adhere better to your skin, so that it won't melt or smear off during the course of the day. That all sounds great, especially in the heat of the summer, when makeup and sweat unite in an unholy alliance.

It's all about the plastic

As it turns out, high-quality primers share a magic ingredient that is better known for its role in other beauty enhancements. Yep, you guessed it: Silicone, famous for breast and butt implants, is also a skin tone miracle-worker.

Silicone primers rest on top of the skin, acting like a coat of spackle. The silicone fills in imperfections like pores and fine lines, so that makeup can glide on smoothly and flawlessly. It's also super adherent, so that makeup literally sticks to the product upon application. For instance, I recently tried a silicone primer for eye makeup, thinking I could blend in the color on top of the primer. Blending wasn't an option. Eyeshadow clung to the primer for some serious staying power.

If you venture into the land of silicone primer, make sure you wash your face thoroughly at the beginning and end of the day, since silicone can stick in your pores and cause breakouts if you're not careful.

Our top picks

Not sure where to start? Check out these favorites the next time you hit the store. Just remember that you may have to try a few products before you find one that's perfect for your skin.

Beauty products with silicon

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Targeted Pore and Line Primer. This heavy-duty product is strong enough to conceal crow's feet and even acne scars. It also provides a matte finish if you struggle with oily skin, and is full of peptides to treat rather than just conceal wrinkles. (Sephora, $34)
  • Physicians Formula Correcting Primer. Here's a primer that allows you to go makeup-free if you wish. It contains silicone for flawless tone, and incorporates minerals and sun protection for a no-fuss finish. (Drugstore.com, $10)
  • Starlooks Eye Primer. Not so sure about rubbing silicone on your entire face? This eye makeup primer is a good starting place. You can play with unique and bold eyeshadow designs, without fear of unsightly rub-off. (Starlooks, $12)

Now go play with some silicone beauty products, without ever having to go under the knife.

Overview

The exact origin of the Old English Sheepdog is unknown; however, there are traces of its heritage in the western counties of England. Bred by farmers as fast and intelligent sheep and cattle herders to take animals to the market, their tales were docked for identification purposes. When sheering the sheep, farmers would often do the same to the Old English Sheepdog for blankets and warm clothing. Known also for herding deer due to its dense coat and cold-weather durability, the breed makes a great working and guard dog.

Is this breed right for you?

Friendly and active, the Old English Sheepdog is a lover of family and children. A gentle and loyal breed, it requires training to avoid herding humans. A natural-born worker, it does best when it has a job to do. Since it is active indoors, the breed needs a large yard to roam in and may not be satisfied with apartment living. Requiring a sufficient amount of exercise and an owner with strong leadership, the Old English Sheepdog can easily become distracted and troublesome. In need of brushing and regular grooming, the dog is not considered to be a large shedder.

breed characteristics

A dream day-in-the-life

The Old English Sheepdog loves to be around its family members. Waking up surrounded by children and other people, it will happily greet each with a smile. Running outside for a bit, it'll guard the home as its number-one priority. Coming inside for a bit of play, this breed will be ready and waiting for its daily run. After its daily brushing, the Old English Sheepdog will engage in a game of fetch before snoozing at the foot of its favorite owner.

Stark differences in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron

New images from the set of Avengers: Age of Ultron have been released, along with exciting plot details that have kicked our anticipation for the 2015 blockbuster into overdrive.

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features new pictures from the highly-anticipated film, showing Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey, Jr.) side by side against a backdrop of ominous destruction. Looming behind them is Ultron (voiced by James Spader), Tony Stark's latest invention and the movie's newest villain.

In the original Marvel comics, Hank Pym aka Ant-Man, builds Ultron, which is a sentient robot being with artificial intelligence. For the film, however, writer-director Joss Whedon has assigned creative responsibility to Tony Stark, who apparently builds Ultron in order to give the Avengers a much-needed respite from constantly saving the planet.

PHOTOS: The Avengers assemble on the Age of Ultron set >>

In an interview with EW, Robert Downey, Jr. discusses the pitfalls of being the hero, "The downside of self-sacrifice is that if you make it back, you've been out there on the spit and you've been turned a couple times and you feel a little burned and traumatized."

With the Avengers over-taxed, Ultron is left to monitor the planet and dispatch Stark's Iron Legion of automaton fighting suits at his own discretion. The only problem is that Ultron quickly realizes the biggest threat to humanity is mankind itself.

As Whedon further explained to EW, "Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, 'Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better'; he's not just going 'Muhaha, soon I'll rule!'"

Thor is now a woman thanks to Marvel's new comic >>

Unfortunately for the Avengers, defeating Ultron could be the hardest challenge they've had to face. Ultron isn't simply a sentient robot, he's a program that can escape into The Cloud in order to regroup, reboot and remake himself into newer, scarier forms.

Stark's invention ultimately leaves the Avengers with an even bigger mess to clean up than they started with, begging the question, how will Iron Man defeat his own technological "son?"

Avengers: Age of Ultron opens on May 1, 2015.

Ever since fans got word that the Outlander novel series written by Diana Gabaldon would be turned into a TV series, they've been all aflutter waiting for it to be released. Now that day is almost here as fans count down to the series, which is set to debut on Starz on Aug. 9.

Starz's Outlander trailer: Claire Randall's fallen through time >>

The network has released a couple of trailers and SheKnows has gotten a brand-new exclusive preview to share. The new video highlights the mystery that surrounds Claire (Caitriona Balfe) after she is mysteriously thrown into the past and tries to adjust to her new surroundings. It's also got some moments of excitement and fear as Claire faces an unknown terror in the dark and hides from soldiers fighting a war.

Katherine Heigl to star in Diana Gabaldon's Outlander? >>

One of the best moments occurs about eight seconds into the video and, though it may be short, it's definitely enough to set your computer screen on fire. That's probably because the moment takes place in front of a fire and involves Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) in what looks like a very romantic moment.

Go on, watch it again. You know you want to.

Now, if you really can't wait until Aug. 9 to watch Outlander, Starz has offered fans a chance to watch it one week early. The network will be posting the premiere episode via on-demand with various cable, satellite and Telco affiliates. They will also be posting it online through websites such as Starz.com, the Starz Outlander Twitter and YouTube pages and more. For more information, be sure to go to the Starz website and find out how you can access it. From what we've seen in the trailers so far, we doubt you'll be disappointed.

Marvel replaces Captain America with The Falcon

Having to retire due to his need for a cane, Captain America is letting his much younger partner take on the part. Not only is the new hero African-American, but he's also quite different in many ways.

Captain America 2 springs forward in 2014 >>

"While Sam shares many of Steve's beliefs in a general sense, he's also a very different person with a very different background," Marvel editor, Tom Brevoort, explained on the comic giant's website. "He didn't grow up in the 1930s, he's a modern-day man in touch with the problems of the 21st century. For most of his professional life, Sam has worked as a social worker, so he's seen the worst of urban society up close."

The Avengers TV spot: Every team needs a Captain >>

As the first African-American mainstream superhero, The Falcon was originally introduced in 1969's Captain America #117 comic book. He became friends with Captain America after battling a group of former Nazis called the "Exiles" in a tropical island while going up against the American superhero's notorious nemesis, Red Skull.

In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark's paranoid and traumatized >>

The Falcon has fought numerous times with S.H.I.E.L.D. and other organizations in the Marvel universe, so he's no stranger to the superhero realm. In the movie version of the Marvel comics, Sam Wilson was portrayed by Anthony Mackie in the latest film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

As a big part of the superhero community, Rogers will certainly not be leaving all the action behind, however. He is taking on an inside post as a "remote strategic advisor," lending his experience to the commanding side of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Caramelized onion and Gorgonzola make potato salad gourmet

Nothing says summertime like a good potato salad. While there are endless versions of this popular dish, it's a recipe that can really sing if you have a creative side. In this version I used several of my favorite flavors, like caramelized onions and tangy Gorgonzola cheese, and added in walnuts for some crunch. Plus, I even — gasp! — reduced the mayonnaise.

Gorgonzola potato salad recipe

This makes a wonderful dish served alongside steak or grilled chicken, and since it's meat free, it's a great recipe for your vegetarian friends.

Caramelized onion and Gorgonzola potato salad recipe

Serves 8

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound small red potatoes, diced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup caramelized onions
  • 1/3 cup light mayonnaise
  • 1 small lemon, juiced and zested
  • 1/2 cup crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 celery stalks, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 1 handful fresh Italian parsley, chopped
  • 1/4 cup crushed walnuts (optional)

Directions:

  1. Over medium-high heat, bring a large pot of water and 1 teaspoon of salt to a boil.
  2. Add in the diced potatoes, and reduce the heat to medium. Cover, and cook the potatoes for 15 minutes or until they are tender. Drain the potatoes, and allow them to cool.
  3. To a large mixing bowl, add the caramelized onions, mayonnaise, lemon juice and zest, Gorgonzola and the seasonings. Mix well, and stir in the diced red onion, celery and 1/2 the chopped parsley.
  4. Add the cooked potatoes to the bowl, and gently fold the potatoes into the mayonnaise mixture.
  5. Pour into a serving plate, and garnish with the remaining parsley and the crushed walnuts.
  6. Keep chilled until ready to serve.

This has been a favorite from early on. Parodists (is that a word?) rush to be the first to parody a popular song and quality is often compromised as a result. Not so with this little gem. It was one of the first and with lines like, "Acid reflux, you should taste that," it remains one of the best.

Glenn Close: Mental illness should be a uniting, hope-filled issue

Glenn Close reveals cult childhood >>

"It is part of the human condition," Close told the New York Daily News. "Actually, because so many people are affected by it, it is something that should be a uniting, hope-filled issue rather than something that people have always been loathed to talk about, and afraid and shamed about it."

Close founded the organization in the hope of ending the stigma for all kinds of mental illness and she said that it will happen only when people feel they can speak openly about it. She said that because many people know someone with a mental illness, "it's really important to now be able to have open conversation about it."

Close isn't the only one who has been outspoken about the stigma surrounding mental illness. Singer Demi Lovato has also talked about her own mental illnesses, including addiction, as well as her father's battle with mental illness.

"My dad suffered from severe mental illness so at least there's peace in knowing he's not suffering anymore," she said on the anniversary of his death. "I've dealt with mental illnesses, and my father also dealt with mental illness. He wasn't able to function in society very well. I'm handling it OK. My father and I didn't have the most ideal relationship. But at the end of the day, he's still my dad. I grew up with him, and he's a wonderful person."

Midnight Rider filmmakers deny they were responsible for Sarah Jones' death

"The devastating loss of Sarah, a young crew member who was just starting out with us, will haunt us forever," the couple said in a joint statement through their attorney, Don Samuel. "Our hearts are broken, our spirits are broken."

Man gets four years in homicide of Usher's stepson >>

Though Miller and Savin say that they have been affected by the tragedy, they say they should not face any criminal punishment for the crash. "When the true facts of the events are revealed, people will know this was not a crime: we never had criminal intent; we would never knowingly or intentionally put anybody's safety at risk," the statement continued. "This was a horrible tragedy and a horrific accident."

Miller and Savin were indicted by a grand jury on charges of involuntary manslaughter and criminal trespassing in Georgia two weeks ago. Samuel said Thursday he has entered a not guilty plea on behalf of the couple, who reside in California. Involuntary manslaughter is a felony and carries a maximum punishment of up to 10 years in prison under Georgia law, according to ABC News.

The charges stem from a train crash that killed Jones during production of Midnight Rider. Jones was struck by a freight train that roared across the bridge while filming. Seven other crew members were injured during the fatal accident and treated at a nearby hospital.

In addition to criminal charges, Midnight Rider production heads also face civil charges that have been filed by Jones' parents, who believe their daughter's death was senseless. Documents filed by the parents state filmmakers "selected an unreasonably dangerous site for the filming location; failed to secure approval for filming from CSX [the company that owns the freight train that struck Jones]; concealed their lack of approval from CSX from cast and crew; and otherwise failed to to take measures to protect the safety of Midnight Rider cast and crew."

Jones' death sparked a wave of celeb support for both Jones herself and film crew members as a whole. The "Slates for Sarah" campaign was created to draw attention to crew safety.

Urban Outfitters and Topshop face backlash over racist and religious imagery

Urban Outfitters pulled a duvet cover and a pair of socks featuring the Hindu deity Lord Ganesh from its online marketplace after backlash about how the piece would be used. One Hindu activist called the home good "highly inappropriate," since duvet covers are traditionally a place you would put your feet on.

Topshop also faced criticism for a necklace depicting stereotypical Asian "yellow face" heads, similar to those used in old Hollywood movies as anti-Chinese propaganda in the 1880s. Like Urban Outfitters, the retailer also decided to take the necklaces off shelves after racist outcry.

The fashion and design communities have long pulled inspiration from culture and history for new clothing and jewelry styles, runway shows and home goods. After all, style communities are somewhat of a global idea collective. Things only become problematic when fashion and design giants carelessly use religious imagery or ignore cultural sensitivities altogether.

As a practicing Christian, I'm often uncomfortable with some of the items I see on shelves. If I notice T-shirts that mention Jesus in a way clearly meant to appeal to a secular audience, or oversized crosses adorning costume jewelry around every corner of a store, I start to wonder who will buy the pieces and if they'll think about why they're wearing them and what they convey.

I don't take faith-based expression lightly, because my own faith in Christ has set up the foundation of principles for my life. It's sad whenever items take on an air of mockery or lightness instead of consideration — which is why I totally understand the outcry over the items by Urban Outfitters and Topshop and applaud people for speaking up.

That said, design and culture can coexist. Brands and artists make it work everyday. Oscar de la Renta draws from his Dominican background, for instance, while Dior collections will always give a nod to French fashion and Ralph Lauren will always remain quintessentially American. That's great. Hopefully designers will continue to tip their hats creatively and respectfully.

And as a consumer, it's important to think before you buy. Take feelings into account when it comes to the items you choose, because your money is a vote of support. If you have to ask if something's appropriate, then it probably isn't. It's better to be sensitive to others' race and culture.

Utah school asks breastfeeding mom to cover up

Lunch for everyone, except Baby

Andrea Scannell, mom of two, recently received a neatly-typed letter from principal Michael Monson, who works at Mount Logan Middle School in Logan, Utah. The letter stated that due to complaints from other patrons of the summer lunch program, she needs to find a way to "more discreetly" feed her baby.

Scannell participates in a state-funded program that provides lunch to kids from ages 1 to 18 during the summer. It's hosted by the middle school and she and her family enjoy going with their 3-year-old son and 6-month-old daughter. On this particular day, she was nursing her little girl, but was soon caught off guard when she was approached by lunchroom staff carrying a sealed envelope.

Letter from Mount Logan Middle School | Sheknows.com

In the letter, Monson outlines the fact that children of all ages are present at the summer lunch program, as well as other adults who have a "variety of personal views and views on raising their own children." He asks her to use a small blanket or find another place to nurse her infant.

She tells me that she had no idea anyone had any issue with her nursing, and as you can see by the photo she provided SheKnows, you can't even really tell that she's breastfeeding at all. "I was very flustered when it was given to me," she explains. "I just never expected anyone to have an issue with me feeding my baby while everyone is there to feed their children. Why can't mine eat?"

Don't hide to breastfeed

The only way women will be able to feed their babies unencumbered in public is if folks become accustomed to seeing babies nurse directly from the breast. Raising the comfort level starts from childhood. Are parents afraid their child will see a woman feeding her baby and are worried about how explain it? "She was feeding her baby," is a good place to start, and say it without judgment or disgust. And then that child grows up and won't give a nursing woman a second look.

This is where moms like Scannell come in. She says in going public with her story, she hopes to raise awareness, not shame the principal or the school. "Utah law has protections but it doesn't have enforcements," she says. "This needs to change. I'm standing up for every breastfeeding mother out there who can't stand up for herself for whatever reason."

Scannell and a handful of other mothers staged a nurse-in today at the school to help bring the challenges she's experiencing to light. I reached out to Mount Logan Middle School for a statement, but their phones aren't being answered due to summer break.

How to break up with your doctor or midwife

0
0

For many moms-to-be, the relationship with a doctor or midwife is an important part of prenatal care. Sometimes, moms-to-be decide that "breaking up" is the right thing to do. It's not always easy — it's also typically never too late. Some practices have a cutoff date for taking new patients, but not all. It's worth checking if you feel strongly that you need to break up.

A breakup due to VBAC

Tiffany F. wanted a vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) and while her OB initially seemed on board, she says things changed. "As my pregnancy progressed and we started talking birth plans, she was insistent that I would likely have the same issues this time around as my first child, that I should just schedule a C-section... I didn't like these answers and her attitude towards the process so at 36 weeks pregnant, I switched to another practice where I would be assisted by midwives."

Learn more about choosing between doctors or midwives for your birth >>

She says switching practices is one of the best things she ever did. "I had my second daughter at 39 weeks, exclusively with the midwives, with no issues or complications and a vaginal birth."

What you need to know about cesarean birth >>

The "best" doctor may not be best for you

Aimee G.'s friend recommended her first OB. It turns out that doctor was a great fit for her friend, but not for her. "She was just a bad fit for my personality, not necessarily unskilled," she says. "During the pregnancy she seemed both aloof and unconcerned, and she also did not provide the type of confident, definitive advice I was craving."

Aimee switched to a new OB she loved. She explains, "She was strong, confident, definitive and opinionated, which worked well for me as a nervous, anxious first-timer looking to be told what to do."

Tips for breaking up amicably

Breaking up can be as simple as asking your new doctor or midwife to request your records from the old practice. Or, it may involve a phone call or email. Remember, maternity care is a business, and if you're not happy, don't hesitate to tell the practice why you're leaving.

Tiffany says, "I told them that I wanted a second opinion on the VBAC likelihood because I didn't like the answers I was getting so I asked for my records to date. There really wasn't a reaction. I received my records and took them to the new doctor. Once I decided I liked the new doctor, I cancelled my future appointments with my old doctor and told them I was switching practices."

Aimee G. offers this tip, "You should not be afraid to look for and find exactly who you need and feel most comfortable with. Do not feel like you have to stay with the same doctor you started with, and be willing to meet a few doctors if necessary to find the right fit."

Whether this is your first pregnancy, or you've already given birth, each experience is unique and you deserve to work with a doctor or midwife who is right for you.

Gosselin's list of supposed demands leaves nothing out. Here's a look at what she is said to have requested for just one evening's meal. Hoffman writes, "Wednesday dinner: Kobe beef tips cooked medium to medium well; steamed broccoli; mashed potatoes; French fries; organic blueberries; and vanilla ice cream. Kate asked that a mixed green/grilled chicken salad option be provided for the adults. She listed these ingredients to be used in the salad: grilled chicken, cucumber, tomato, sliced strawberries or pears, feta cheese crumbles, pecans and a balsamic vinaigrette dressing."

We can't argue that isn't a very detailed list, but would you really expect anything less from master-of-scheduling Kate Gosselin? Her type-A ways aren't exactly a secret.

Besides, you have to admit traveling with eight kids must have its challenges. Perhaps Hoffman is making too much out of her preference for being organized?

Do you believe Kate Gosselin's traveling demands are really out of control?

Cruel prank played on MSNBC over Malaysia Airlines crash

Prankster

While many are faulting MSNBC for shoddy reporting, we wonder why more aren't pointing the finger back at the man who somehow thought this prank was funny. Posing as Staff Sgt. Michael Boyd from the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine, the caller claimed to be an eyewitness to the crash. When asked to share his account, Boyd said, "I saw a projectile flying through the sky, and it would appear that the plane was shot down by a blast of wind from Howard Stern's a**."

Not catching the comment, the reporter continued to ask Boyd questions, to which he replied, "You're a dumb-a**, aren't you?"

This will likely be a moment the MSNBC anchor will never forgive herself for, but shame on the man who baited a major news organization with an "exclusive eyewitness account" simply to get some attention. Doesn't he realize that people lost their lives? Has he not been paying attention to all of the catastrophic events taking place in Ukraine and Russia right now? Does he really think a disaster that happened where two countries are practically at war is something that should be used to gain a few laughs? This man is the true embarrassment, and I only hope his insensitivity will not be shared by others.

9 Fun things to do at work that won't get you fired

According to the National Career Development Association, laughing and smiling in the workplace is a best practice for career satisfaction and longevity. Not sure how to infuse some mirth into your daily grind? Start with these no-risk ideas.

1. Wear a costume to work

Who says you have to wait for Halloween to come to work as a superhero? OK, you'll need to be cautious about your office culture — but we can guarantee that there's no harm in wearing a sparkly green shamrock shirt on St. Patrick's Day or a horrifying light-up ugly Christmas sweater to a casual company holiday party. (Rusty Zipper, $80)

2. Display jokester signage

A tongue-in-cheek office sign never hurt anyone. Above your paper shredder, for instance, tape a picture of a heavy metal guitarist with the word "Shred" emblazoned across the sign. Need more ideas? Check out these hysterical printables.

3. Playfully prank someone with sticky notes

There are many variations on the sticky note prank. The idea is simply that you coat a co-worker's cubicle with row upon row of sticky notes for a fun morning surprise when she walks into the office. Alternatively, you can layer pictures of cats, flamingos or even David Hasselhoff on her walls or computer monitor.

4. Turn into a basketball star

Hang a miniature basketball hoop over your trash can so you can playfully toss crumpled paper where it belongs. Feeling especially passive aggressive? Tape a sign above the hoop that says, "Ideas." (Amazon, $5)

5. Institute potluck Fridays

And we don't just mean "bring in your family's discarded leftovers" day. Make it fun and lively by choosing holiday themes, cultural themes or any other potluck theme that strikes your fancy.

6. Hang a dapper humor board

Unfortunately, we know that your office is full of real-life Office Space characters who are constantly saying annoying things like, "Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays!" That's OK. There are probably some gems in your office, too. Invite them out of their shells by hanging a humor board, on which your co-workers can pin favorite quotes, jokes and even pictures.

7. Sing in the office bathroom

Repeat after me: Don't be an office hummer, whistler or singer. Just say no. But all bets are off when you go on potty break, so feel free to hum or sing a bathroom-appropriate song to give meaning to your task.

8. Bring your pet to work

If your office allows you to bring your dog to work, pause for a moment to relish the fact that you're one of the lucky few with a cool boss. But if dogs are a no-no, ask about bringing in another rad animal, like a chinchilla, sugar glider or — if all else fails — a Betta fish.

9. Plan a two-minute exercise break

Step away from your mousepad. Researchers have found that just a two-minute exercise break every hour can cut your risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Don't just stroll to the water cooler, though. Grab a friend (figuratively) and do a few jumping jacks, push-ups or dance moves to get your blood pumping for two minutes each hour.

So what's a gal or guy to do? Add a color-coded top to easily distinguish the keys. Now, since my expertise is economical solutions, that meant that I did not want to spend money on this project; instead I eyeballed all my... nail polish. Yep, it's paint with a built-in brush.

Steps:

  1. Ransack (gather) all nail polish bottles and keys
  2. Paint the top of the keys with colors you love

Yep, that simple.

When painting the keys, have fun with the colors and designs; you can add numbers, add initials, add zigzag lines.

Thus far the painted keys have not even chipped, lasting longer than my manicure. Do you plan on making this project? I bet the colorful keys will make you smile, especially on those days that your keys match your nails, wink.
