Courtney Robertson spoils Bachelor secrets in new book: No condoms included

Courtney Robertson did not have an easy time on The Bachelor Season 16. Though she did go on to win Ben Flajnik's heart, the self-described reality show villain didn't find her happily-ever-after following the final rose. Shortly after the show, the pair called it quits in a harsh breakup.

VIDEO: Courtney Robinson writes Bachelor tell-all >>

When we asked her if she regretted going on the show, Robertson thoughtfully replied, "I struggled with that thought after the breakup. But now I don't. I did find love, even though it wasn't everlasting. I learned a lot from the experience. If I could do it over, I would definitely do some things differently."

Still, Robertson doesn't make excuses.

In fact, she's laying it all on the table with her new tell-all book I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends, which was just released this week. The book details her time on the show in a candid and often hilarious fashion.

The Bachelorette: 17 Hilarious quotes from the lie detector episode >>

"What's surprising is how little of it is staged. The emotions are real," Robertson said.

The book reveals some really shocking facts about the truth behind the show, and we've laid them all out for you in a nice roundup. Keep in mind, these are just our top picks. The book is chock-full of fun tidbits about the reality behind the camera. We definitely recommend the juicy read.

1. The illicit skinny-dip

So did they or didn't they when Robertson snuck out to skinny-dip with Ben in the ocean? Uh, of course they did, people.

2. Condoms not included

The fantasy suite, for all of its promises of romantic alone time complete with rose petals and alcohol, forgot one key element for a night of nookie: condoms.

3. Ben had dishonorable intentions

Robertson believes Ben participated in The Bachelor/ette as a way to promote his winery. Though the two may have found something in each other, she doesn't believe he had the right reasons going in.

4. This isn't image overhaul

Sure, Robertson had a not-so-stellar image on The Bachelor, but this book doesn't try to paint her in some big, grand misunderstood light. She recognizes some mistakes were made, and instead reflects on the way things happened.

5. What happens in Vegas...

Make that, what happens on The Bachelor... Those involved with the show may like to think they have that mentality, though we all know those truths never stay hidden. Case in point: Robertson's book.

6. No computer. No television. No phones.

This one didn't really come as a surprise, since we've heard it before. But the book definitely strangles you with what that claustrophobia feels like. No wonder these girls break down.

7. Watch out, Trista Sutter

Robertson was not pleased when fellow Bachelor alum Sutter shared her thoughts about Robertson and Flajnik when they split following the show. Sutter said she wasn't surprised and didn't really have anything fond to say of Robertson. The feeling is mutual.

8. Celebs have "bushes" too

So the book doesn't just detail Robertson's time on The Bachelor. She also spends a considerable amount of pages discussing her celeb dating history too.

9. There's a contestant formula

Robertson recommends those who want to be on the show cut to the chase and wear a bikini in their application photos. Oh, and make sure to come prepared with a good sob story.

10. The one-on-one food isn't for eating

Sure, it looks delectable and oh-so-gourmet, but who wants to be talking on-camera with their mouth full? As a result, Robertson says the meals go untouched. We think a growly stomach would be worse than a moment of silence for chewing and swallowing.

As for what's next for Robertson, she told us, "A summer vacation! I would love to write a second book; it's definitely something I've been thinking about. I'm also excited to find love!"

Hmm... do we hear a request to be the next Bachelorette in there?

Will you read Robertson's tell-all book I Didn't Come Here to Make Friends? Do you think she would make a good Bachelorette?

The real problem with dating apps

Annoyed woman looking at smartphone

There are a bazillion reasons that anyone could make for or against online dating and it's not for one singular reason that I did my recent clean sweep. But I will say that something unsavory about the practice of internet dating struck me toward the end.

Namely, there are absolutely too many options out there. At first, this doesn't seem like a problem. The first time I downloaded Tinder I was intoxicated with the vast amount of men at my fingertips. It was a game of hot or not that could last for hours. Or more, actually, depending on how wide you cast your location net. But toward the end of my dating app experience, it started to become a chore. More than that, it was a mindless exercise in trolling for the best match, with a feverish certainty that The One is going to be the next one that you click on.

It's like we've gone from, "There are plenty of fish in the sea," to, "Nice catch, no wait, throw that one back. Let's all be fishermen forever!"

And there's no doubt that it's going on from the men's perspective as well. What motivation is there to pause and really talk to (or heaven forbid, meet up with) a nice, attractive girl, if the chances are good that there is a nicer, more attractive woman about to pop up? It's not about settling; it's about being paralyzed by too many choices.

People have been talking about this idea in the business world forever. It's the classic story of consumers buying more jam when they have six options than they do when they have 24. And in this tale, it was reported that while more people stopped at the stand with 24 jams, people were six times more likely to buy from the stand with just six options.

And I don't know about you but I don't want a man just stopping by my jam stand. I want him to be ready for this jelly.

In her TED talk, "How to Make Choosing Easier," Sheena Iyengar addresses this notion well: "The expansion of choice has become an explosion of choice, and while there is something beautiful and immensely satisfying about having all of this variety at our fingertips, we also find ourselves beset by it."

I don't know the global answer and I am very aware that online dating works for thousands of people every day. But maybe apps have changed that a bit. Maybe they added a level of nonchalance that doesn't belong there.

All I know is that it got to be too much for me. It turned me a shade of shallow that wasn't quite becoming. It turned these real people on the other side of the phone into just statistics, just a bleep on my radar. It ate up a lot of the time that I could be spending interacting with other people in person, or looking up from my phone on the train to say hello to someone. Call it old fashioned, call it backwards, but, I'm gonna cut down my options a bit and see if I can't land on somethin' good.

The hottest Hollywood bachelor is: Joe Manganiello

Joe Manganiello crowned People magazine's hottest bachelorPhoto credit: FayesVision/WENN.com

We wonder what Joe Manganiello thinks about being named People's Hottest Bachelor. In our opinion, it is a title the True Blood hunk certainly deserves.

Manganiello appears on the cover of this week's People magazine, and he managed to beat out other Hollywood hotties Liam Hemsworth, Jared Leto and newly single Prince Harry to take the publication's title.

Even though countless women would love to get their hands on the actor, he revealed to the mag that he's at his best when he has a lady in his life.

"I'm at my best when I have someone to wake up next to," he confessed.

However, that doesn't mean the La Bare star just rushes into love. Nope, he likes to take his time.

"I think the crazy love that you fall into in the beginning turns into 'like' and 'need.' Chris Rock told me that!" Manganiello confessed. "He's like, 'Kid, you wanna get married? Listen, there's love, and you can feel love the first night, but that's not what it is. It's, 'I like you and I need you.'"

Manganiello's also a very passionate person, which he credits with being part Sicilian.

"I am part Sicilian. I am passionate. I am a hot-blooded person. If you don't like spicy, then maybe I'm not for you."

Who's hotter: Alexander Skarsgard vs. Joe Manganiello >>

And as for his favorite thing about a lady? Well, it seems as if his True Blood role of werewolf Alcide is actually not that far off from his real life.

"I'm big into smell," he said. "It's funny I got cast as a werewolf. There's something about the smell on that part of a woman's neck where it meets the jaw, ahhhh! It's heaven."

It would be excellent if Miley Cyrus would go away for a few weeks. Her addiction to her Bangerz tour G-strings, and more specifically what she subjects those poor G-strings to during her act, is out of control. While she's there, maybe Cyrus can get clean from sticking her tongue out and posting dirty-girl-for-life photos on Instagram.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber has reportedly had his substance abuse issues — whether or not this is true, he still needs to disappear for a bit. We need a break from his interpretation of "thug life." Every week, he's making headlines for doing something bratty. And if it walks like a brat, and talks like a brat, it's probably a brat. He can enroll in a 12-step program for his addiction to punklike behavior.

If Kylie Jenner and Cyrus were in the same rehab facility, at the same time, they could assist each other in recovering from their addiction to social media. Jenner is currently blowing up the internet for her latest bikini selfie (that fans suspect she Photoshopped). Kylie is 16 years old, so broadcasting provocative images of herself to millions is kind of creepy. If Kris Jenner won't take her phone away, maybe rehab will.

You gotta feel sorry for this guy, right? We really just want to dismiss him as another bad-behaving dirtbag, but Robin Thicke's very public crawl through the mud to get his wife back is becoming uncomfortable to watch. He's on the once-a-week program with his public pleas. Last week, he released the cringe-worthy video "Get Her Back," followed by an emotional debut of "Forever Love" during the BET Awards. He needs to go to rehab for his microphone addiction and his obsession with getting his wife back.

JLo has also been linked to DWTS' Maksim Chmerkovskiy. It may be time for Lopez to rehabilitate from relationships with young dancers.

Switched at Birth review: No Easy Answer

Switched at Birth - Oh Future

One of the things I like about Switched at Birth is how well it does at hitting hard subjects from a couple of different angles so that fans can decide for themselves what to think For some questions there are just no easy answers.

Switched at Birth review: Under the radar >>

Take Daphne trying to find a good college so she can be a doctor. That whole situation had a plethora of tough questions wrapped up in it. For instance, Regina did have a point about anything being worth doing was also worth sacrificing for, but Kathryn and John also had a point that parents who can afford to pay for their kid's college shouldn't feel like they are "spoiling" them by doing so.

Then there was the question about the Latina scholarship. Regina and her mother, and her mother before her, are all Latina and of course Regina sees her daughter the same way. But, right or wrong, Daphne hasn't suffered from her heritage because she doesn't look like they do and therefore didn't fit the criteria of the scholarship. All of it made my head spin just thinking about it.

Thank goodness everyone else's situations didn't revolve around tough questions — tough situations maybe, but not tough questions. Bay discovered that Melody was thinking of leaving town and tried everything she could to keep Emmett from going with her. She had no way of knowing that the simple housewarming party would turn into a surprise wedding which would then turn into a surprise baby announcement. As it turned out, that story had my head spinning as well.

INTERVIEW: Switched at Birth's Katie Leclerc promises insanity ahead >>

Emmett wasn't the only one feeling awkward at the party, I actually think Melody felt even more so. A child of a previous marriage is always your child, but an ex being at the wedding of an ex — with a date no less — was beyond uncomfortable. It shows just how strong Melody was, and how cool Gabe was, that they got through that and I'm so thankful that she decided to stay in town. I'm excited to see where this new relationship goes.

Travis and Mary Beth's story was mostly filler, but still pretty good. I was upset at Travis for getting angry at her for asking about his parents, but after he explained himself, I was able to forgive him. I'm very proud of both of them for being able to talk it out and not let the situation get out of control. Plus, it was great to see Travis get to meet his football hero.

5 Switched at Birth Spring Finale questions to ponder >>

My favorite bits:

Emmett innocently asking Bay if she would like to tell his mom they were a couple.

Gabe asking Melody to go to her ex-husband's housewarming. Can we say "awkward"?

Melody asking if Debbie got a boob job and Gabe saying he needed to get another look.

Kathryn and Sarah becoming friends.

Sarah's story about John and the chocolate cake. I really hope that's true because it was so sweet.

Travis' excitement over meeting his hero.

Bay telling Emmett that his father had room for both him and a new baby.

Emmett: "Seeing you and being with you is the best part of every day."

Gabe suggesting root canals for his third date with Melody. Sounds about right after their second date.

Melody telling Bay that Emmett needed both of them.

Emmett gathering his old toys up for his little brother. I totally got teary-eyed at that.

What did you think of this episode? Which tough question did you find the hardest to answer in your heart?

It isn't easy being a child actor — just ask Billy Unger. The Disney XD Lab Rats star probably wishes he wasn't famous after being pulled over in Malibu, California, on Friday night for driving under the influence.

The 18-year-old actor was on the Pacific Coast Highway when he was pulled over for speeding. According to TMZ, he was arrested after the cops learned he had been drinking. Not only is Unger under age, but California has a zero-tolerance law for any drinking under the age of 21.

Reportedly, his blood alcohol content was at the legal limit of 0.08. The teen star was released from jail over the weekend.

According to his Friday night tweet, he was dining at the Malibu hot spot, Nobu, which is an expensive sushi restaurant on the water. He tweeted:

Shia LaBeouf is living quite a strange life lately after his breakdown at the Broadway show Cabaret on Thursday. His outburst involved "harassing audience members, harassing actors on the stage, and chain smoking inside the theater," according to a Us Weekly insider.

Now it's being reported that one Hollywood star was worried LaBeouf wouldn't know how the show ended since he missed the second act. To remedy this issue, one legendary celebrity sent him the 1972 film adaptation of the musical — Liza Minnelli.

PHOTO: Shia LaBeouf in court after shocking arrest >>

While it was Minnelli's rep Scott Gorenstein who really sent the troubled actor the DVD, he told the entertainment magazine, "I figured he may want to find out how it ends."

The veteran actress played the iconic role of Sally Bowles on-screen and won an Oscar for her performance. Michelle Williams is currently starring as Bowles in the Broadway revival.

Remember when Shia LaBeouf was cool? >>

Fellow co-star Alan Cumming, who plays the emcee in the show, joked on Twitter about the incident to his followers, "Our @Cabaret_Musical Stage Manager last night at intermission: This is your places call and Shia Leboef has left the building in handcuffs." The tweet has since been deleted.

LaBeouf was removed from Studio 54, the Broadway theater where Cabaret is playing, at intermission. He has not publicly commented about the incident, but it is now being reported that he has checked himself into rehab to treat his ongoing battle against alcoholism.

Getting nutrients through IVs: Good or bad?

Hand with IV

Remember when oxygen bars were all the rage about 10 years ago? People lined up at pop-up shops in hotels, strip malls and salons to get an intense dose of the stuff we need to live.

The idea fizzled as quickly as it started, but it seems like another version of the trend is popping up all over the country in the form of intense doses of vitamins administered through IV drips.

Ryan Phillippe and his girlfriend, Paulina Slagter, were recently spotted getting theirs at a Miami hotel, but clinics are popping up all over the country. One Arizona clinic offers seven different types of IV nutrient therapy, all overseen by Dr. Theresa Ramsey, N.M.D.

Dr. Ramsey claims on her website that IV therapy can help alleviate everything from allergies to chronic fatigue and depression, as well as help surgical recovery and reduce heavy metal toxicity in the body.

However, other medical professionals aren't so convinced that getting nutrients via intravenous drips is a safe alternative to a good diet and over-the-counter vitamin supplements.

"There is absolutely no need for anyone to receive IV nutrients who doesn't have a malabsorption syndrome and is able to eat," California-based David Belk, M.D., tells SheKnows. "It's an incredible waste of money."

It might also be dangerous, depending on who administers the therapy.

"IV lines can get infected, and who's doing this?" he asks, adding that you don't necessarily know that you'll get the nutrients advertised. "Is this being done by actual health care professionals? Are the IVs being placed by licensed nurses, doctors or PAs? Who supplies these nutrients?"

"This doesn't just sound like a waste of money, I'm having trouble believing it's actually legal in the U.S.," he adds.

Getting such an intense dose of vitamins might even be detrimental to your overall health.

"High doses of isolated nutrients can actually cause more problems than they prevent," says doctor and author Shawn Talbott, M.D. "Recent examples are beta-carotene in smokers leading to more lung cancer, and vitamin C in cancer patients — which protects cancer cells more effectively than it does healthy cells."

Instead, focus on getting your vitamins and minerals directly from your diet.

"Your best approach is to eat 10-12 servings of brightly colored fruits and veggies throughout the day to activate your body's own stress fighting factory," adds Dr. Talbott.

"Great antioxidant fuel includes red bell peppers, carrots, apples, broccoli, blueberry, tea, coffee, cabbage and wasabi. These foods activate our body's own antioxidant pathways."

24: Live Another Day review: Here come the nukes

24: Live Another Day - 8:00pm to 9:00pm

This season of 24: Live Another Day has already given us multiple terrorist threats, a few of which that actually became attacks, dangerous drones flying all over the city, a near-execution of the president and two terrorists tossed out of windows. You might have thought that would be enough action and nail-biting drama for one season, but the show proved in this episode that it wasn't even close to being done.

24: Live Another Day: 5 Reasons Kate is our new hero >>

In my review of the last episode, I wondered what exactly Adrian wanted with the override device. I didn't realize that he created the thing, nor did I know that he had no intention of selling it... well, not again anyway. Perhaps he thought he was doing something noble by taking the device back so he could use it to get into various countries' warfare systems and show them their weaknesses. Maybe he thought he would be touted as a hero for it, but sadly all he got for his trouble was a bullet to the head.

It didn't take long for Chloe to figure out that Adrian was up to no good and I applauded her attempt to escape. But now she's the last of the computer experts stuck in the hands of Cheng and I shudder to think what he plans to do with her. The guy had no problem killing every one of her friends and I doubt he'll have any trouble doing the same thing to Chloe once he gets what he needs from her.

INTERVIEW: Kim Raver spills on the new "extreme, caffeinated version of 24" >>

In the final moments of this episode, Cheng attacked a Chinese carrier using a US nuclear weapon and I'm both nervous and excited to see what that will add to Jack's nightmarish day.

Before the nukes came along, Jack and Kate worked well together to find out what Steve knew about the location of the device. I didn't blame Kate at all for wanting to strangle Steve once she knew he was the one who framed her husband, but once again she took the high road and didn't let that anger control her. She and Jack did use that anger to make Steve think she would kill him though and that was absolutely brilliant.

9 Movie stars turned TV actors: Kiefer Sutherland and more >>

Two more episodes to go. I'd say that the show couldn't possibly top what it's already done this season, but I know I would be wrong so I'll just say that I'm looking forward to seeing how they do it.

My favorite bits:

The shoot-out/chase between Jack and Steve. I thought I was going to have a freaking heart attack.

Not being able to help laughing at Adrian leaving Steve hanging in the wind. Ha!'

Jack: "Just so we're clear: I wasn't asking, that was me being courteous."

Jack showing Steve he wasn't afraid to make him talk in any way he could.

Totally agreeing with Mark. Audrey really did make their marriage sound like an obligation.

Freaking out again during the standoff between Kate and Jack over Steve... especially when I saw it was all an act. Brilliant!

Kate: "You're done. You're going to be executed for murder and treason, and I'm going to be there to watch."

Jumping half out of my skin when Cheng shot Adrian.

Actually squeaking out loud when the semi hit Jack and Kate. Whoa!

What did you think of this episode? What do you think will happen to Chloe?

While performing a song during the On the Run tour kickoff concert in Miami, Beyoncé and Jay Z took fans by surprise when they flashed Justin Bieber's mug shot on giant onstage screens.

Jay Z was singing his "H to the Izzo" hit when the music stopped and a series of celeb mug shots appeared on the huge screens behind him. Included in the booking photos was none other than Justin Bieber's, with his infamous smiling face.

The photo even came with a comment from Beyoncé when she interestingly told the crowd, "Even the greatest can fall."

Before showing the mug shots, the screens displayed a montage of Beyoncé and Jay Z photos to tie them into their "'03 Bonnie and Clyde" personas. They included mug shots of the famous singing pair, morphing them into the legendary bank-robbing couple.

Now that the season's winding down, it's become harder to fight their feelings… although Gabe (Sendhil Ramamurthy) doesn't appear to have gotten the memo. He's still doing his best to win Cat back and hasn't yet learned the lesson that a woman isn't a prize that can be won, especially a woman who's as strong-willed as Cat has proven herself to be over the years. His slow descent into villainy and growing inability to keep control of his temper has been one of the season's most exciting turns.

We're heading into the season finale next week, and here are a couple questions we'll want answered.

Can Gabe be redeemed?

With another murder on his hands and an increasing level of insanity, it looks like there's no coming back for Gabe, but even if he and Cat can't make it work, we still remember the brilliant district attorney from Season 1. Here's hoping he's not too far gone down the wrong path. There's still some ambiguity about how much of this is Gabe's choice and how much is his beastly instincts. Our exclusive photo above seems to indicate that Cat and JT (Austin Basis) are finally onto him, but it's a toss-up on whether they're pulling for punishment or redemption for their former ally.

Will Vincent and Cat finally make it last?

They've slept together, they've confessed their feelings, but somehow, they always end up just shy of really committing to it. We've watched Vincent and Cat do this dance for two seasons, we've seen their ups and downs and suffered through Cat's relationship with Gabe. It seems like they're finally on steady ground with each other, and we want to make sure these two are going to stick the landing!

How will Heather's wedding unfold?

Heather (Nicole Gale Anderson) is always a sunny spot on a sometimes dark show, between her one-liners and her killer fashion sense, and we're happy to see her engaged. (Not to mention her wedding dress is absolutely gorgeous.) The gang could use something fun and light for a change, and though a wedding usually means high drama and high danger, our fingers are crossed that Heather gets the big day of her dreams. Besides, we can't wait to see her Cat-planned bachelorette party, which is the best part of any wedding.

The summer finale airs July 7th on The CW. We can't wait!
