VIDEO: Shailene Woodley is homeless, and loving it

Shailene Woodley has made no secret about her enjoyment of the simple things in life, and it looks like that includes having no place to live. The actress told Jimmy Kimmel that everything she owns can fit into a carry-on suitcase — and she wouldn't have it any other way.

8 Profound quotes from Divergent's Shailene Woodley >>

Woodley said her decision to get rid of her home came after she realized she was only home for a little more than two weeks in 2013.

"I was only home for 15 days last year and I got home and I was like, 'I don't want to be alone. I want to be with my friends and family,'" said Woodley. "So, I got rid of everything just so I could have one suitcase that would be easy to transport between houses and just kind of couch surf for a few months.”

Those 15 days are important days for her to spend time with family and friends, and she decided to sleep on their couches any time she is not working.

"It takes so much stress away when you're like, 'I only have one pair of jeans to wash,'" she said, adding that she finds her new lifestyle "refreshing."

So what is in that carry-on suitcase? Woodley said she has a few shirts, tank tops, a hoodie, computer and a few other items. Until very recently, her list of possessions didn't even include a phone, but her career called for one.

"I do have a phone right now because we've been doing so much press and they were like, 'Shai, we need to be able to get ahold of you, so here's a temporary phone and we've taped the number to the back of it so you won't forget it,'" she explained. "It's kind of hilarious."

Shailene Woodley's no feminist — she loves men too much >>

You might think any successful actress (or human being) might want to show it off with a big house, but that's not who Woodley is. She said she did have a house, but decided to give it to her grandma to live her couch-surfing dream.

You can see Woodley next in her new film The Fault in Our Stars, in theaters June 6.

Taylor Swift really can't trust anyone in her life. The songstress, who is becoming known for writing about the men who have done her wrong, almost had her dress for the Met Gala completed ruined by her cat, Meredith.

Top 5 Met Gala group selfies we wish we were in >>

The night of the Met Gala, Swift tweeted that her dress almost didn't make it to the event.

The singer finally opened up about the attack, which seems more humorous than anything now.

"I've never seen more fashionable people lose their composure quicker than when a cat walks up to a satin, custom Oscar de la Renta gown and then decides to make a home inside of it," Swift told People. "She just passed, dug her claws in and started to roll — like when you see a crocodile attack an antelope on National Geographic. That's what she tried to do to the dress."

Swift added that Meredith "fancies herself as quite a hunter" but luckily, didn't do enough damage for her owner to have to find a last-minute replacement. "She's a chubby house cat. She's not very strong." Meredith has become famous because TSwift regularly posts photos or videos of her furry friend.

Besides Meredith, Swift's new BFF appears to be model Karlie Kloss, and she said the two got ready for the big night together.

Ed Sheeran wants BFF Taylor Swift & Orlando Bloom to date >>

"I got ready with Karlie," she said. "We were both wearing Oscar de la Renta, and we kind of shared a hair girl and got ready in a hotel room. It was so much fun getting ready with one of your best friends."

We can't wait to see if Taylor Swift will write a song about Meredith's attempt to destroy her gown.

I’ve never felt ugly, but fat? I’ve felt that every day of my life. I wasn’t born hating my body, but can pinpoint the day that I became aware of my shape, of the fact that some people were more “ideal” than others. I was cast as Ursula in the daily lunchtime reenactment of The Little Mermaid. It was kindergarten and I was 5.

Despite feeling fat, I went on to get a degree in broadcast journalism and believed that if I was serious about a career on television I had to lose a significant amount of weight. I believed in the thin beauty standard. In 2010 my entire world changed. I learned that there was an entire industry of plus-size fashion where I could make a career and be fat. There was irony in having success from the one thing I always hated about myself.

Embrace the documentary by Taryn Brumfitt

Taryn Brumfitt can relate. "You are fat. That's what I used to say to myself when I looked in the mirror," she says in the body image documentary project called Embrace she launched on Kickstarter this week. Brumfitt went viral after posting what people saw as a groundbreaking before and after picture of herself. The before was a picture of her body transformation after entering a body-building contest. The after photo was more supple, it was softer. It wasn’t award winning, but it was beautiful. Brumfitt believed that her "after" was beautiful.

Why was this so radical? Because it challenges the way women (and some men) view their bodies. "I did have the perfect body, or near enough," says Brumfitt of the transformation. "And you know what? Nothing changed. Nothing changed about how I felt about my body."

Our society is obsessed with celebrity and beauty, and it isn’t just here in the U.S., of course. Footage from Brumfitt’s trailer, shot in Australia, shows that women around the world are being conditioned to hate their bodies. Brumfitt’s challenge is to make a documentary that starts helping women embrace their bodies — the vessels that hold their soul, birth their babies, create cures and invent creations.

Can it be done? Can we change the way women see their bodies? Brumfitt isn’t the only one who thinks the answer is yes. Women like Dr. Carolyn Becker, licensed clinical psychologist and associate professor at Trinity University, strive to teach women to limit “fat talk” and spend the minutes, hours and days they spend complaining about their bodies doing something positive instead.

Embrace the documentary by Taryn Brumfitt

There is a huge connection between our head and our wardrobe. Why is it that before a job interview we run out for a new shirt? How is it that those simple threads give us a new sense of confidence in an instant? Give a woman a new wardrobe and watch her conquer the world. It seems superficial, but clothes are so much more than just coverings for our skin. I ponder this when I do makeovers and segments about dressing for your body type and finding the perfect fit. You know what I wish I could sell instead? The belief that you look good. The belief that you are worthy. The belief that what you see in the mirror is valuable.

The stories Brumfitt plans to feature in the Embrace documentary are those of women who aim to feel more beautiful after a mastectomy, more lovely with stretch marks and more fulfilled with a few wrinkles and a bit of cellulite. Can you imagine what our girls would look like and feel like if we changed what beauty means?

Marcy Guevara

Brumfitt is not alone in her mission to help educate and inspire women towards change. There are countless nonprofits, organizations and movements that have this same mission (I even launched one myself as part of a grad school class). Never before has there been such sensitivity towards this topic, as we become more and more inundated with media, technology and the newfound selfie obsession.

It's a larger conversation about self-esteem, empowerment and confidence that will never end. With leaders like Brumfitt, we can start talking and changing the conversation to embrace the bodies we have. Today.

You can support the making of this documentary here.

America Ferrera gets pranked at Cannes Film Festival

This was not what America Ferrera was expecting when she attended the Cannes Film Festival. The 30-year-old actress was just trying to pose for photos when she was pranked by notorious red carpet punk Vitalii Sediuk.

The cast of How to Train Your Dragon 2 was at the Palais des Festivals when the Ukrainian journalist ran onto the carpet, laid down on the ground and put his head under the former Ugly Betty star's dress. He was quickly corralled by security. Ferrera remained under control but was shaken up by the event.

Cannes commotion: A jewelry heist and a shooter >>

This isn't the first time that Sediuk has pulled such a high-profile stunt. Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper and many other celebrities have fallen victim to his pranks. Sediuk lunged at both actors on the red carpet this awards show season, at the Santa Barbara Film Festival and the SAG Awards, respectively.

His most famous moment, at the 2013 Grammy Awards, got him arrested. Sediuk stormed the stage after Adele won an award. However, someone more powerful got in the way of his meeting with the singer: Jennifer Lopez. JLo wisely stood in the way of any further shenanigans.

Cannes officials are looking into the security breach, but it does appear that Sediuk was an officially credentialed member of the press.

Kimye wedding to be held at place of North's conception

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian are either trying to throw the world off track or garner more attention for their upcoming wedding, and whichever one it is, it's working.

Kimye wedding: Incredible, or incredibly tacky? >>

In an interview on Friday with Florence's La Nazione newspaper, via the Daily Mail, Kanye dropped some pretty heavy hints that the wedding would be held there. "I adore Florence. I love Italy and the Italian lifestyle," the 36-year-old rapper said. "To tell you the truth, I already came to the banks of the (Arno) river with Kim last year. Just the two of us, incognito. I think that our daughter North was conceived here among the Renaissance masterpieces."

Making it official at the site where your child was conceived could be especially meaningful, and a Kimye insider told Entertainment Tonight earlier this week that the ceremony would be in Italy as well. The source claimed that the couple will host a dinner in Paris and then shuttle all of their guests to the main event in Florence.

However, E! News caught word today that the ceremony will actually be held in Versailles. The venue switch may be influenced by a French air traffic controllers' strike, which has all but paralyzed air travel in and out of the country. Another source reports that Kardashian and West have been told their private planes get last priority out of the airport, according to Radar Online. This has apparently left Kardashian distraught and convinced that her "wedding feels jinxed."

But is all the media hype for naught? There's even a nugget of gossip that Kardashian and West have already exchanged vows right at home in California. "Kim and Kanye are now married on paper," a source told Life & Style magazine last week. Kardashian has since squelched that rumor on Twitter.

One couple that we know are definitely not concerning themselves with the whereabouts of the Kimye wedding: Jay Z and Beyoncé. The Sun reported in late April that the music industry power couple declined Kimye's wedding invitation because they felt it was too public, and they did not want to be filmed for the Keeping Up with the Kardashians TV show.

Tori Spelling reportedly consulting divorce attorneys

Week after week, TV audiences have caught a glimpse of the agony Tori Spelling is in after husband Dean McDermott cheated on her. The couple is under extreme stress in the aftermath of the discovery.

According to Radar Online, it also may be the end of the line for their marriage. Sources are revealing that Spelling has started to consult with several divorce attorneys.

Tori Spelling: Putting her troubled marriage before her health >>

The insider shared, "Tori has actually been consulting with several very prominent divorce attorneys since Dean went to rehab. One advantage with Tori's strategy is that Dean won't be able to hire anyone she has previously met with. Dean is aware that Tori has met with divorce attorneys and it doesn't faze him."

The fighting has been pretty dramatic on-camera on their reality show, True Tori, and it is apparently just as bad once the film crew goes home each day.

"At this point, the entire relationship is beyond repair and they are constantly fighting, even more so when cameras aren't rolling," said the source.

Celebrity sex tapes: A complete list >>

Some of the main concerns with getting a divorce are the four kids the couple shares and the spousal support Spelling may have to dole out to McDermott. She's been the main breadwinner throughout much of their marriage, and there is no prenup agreement in place.

"Ultimately, Tori is afraid Dean is going to come after her for spousal support and possibly attempt to get full custody of their four children," said the family insider.

The show has almost completed production, but Spelling "won't file until the last possible moment, perhaps even to try and garner higher ratings and a spin-off."

It might be the end of the road for this Hollywood couple.

Whitney Port's big day is getting close, and the bride-to-be decided to make a big change. Back in April, Port posted a photo on Instagram hinting that a change may be coming soon.

Designer Whitney Port puts The Hills in the past >>

"Sooooo ready for a change @johnnyramirez1 what are we thinking?!?!" she captioned the photo.

But on Friday, she posted another photo showing she had made the big leap: "Finally did it! Man, I feel like a woman!" she wrote.

Port's new do isn't exactly short, but for the reality star — who has always had really long hair — it seems like a dramatic change. The star and fiancé Tim Rosenman announced their engagement back in November, and she is busily planning their wedding.

"It's going to be a destination," Port told People. "Since I'm from here and Tim is from New York, we thought it would make sense for everyone to just be on neutral ground."

Port even took her wedding planning further than most brides. She launched her own line of custom invitations and is even designing her own wedding dress.

"I know what cut works for me," she explained. "It's something so personal. That will be a really fun process for me."

What celebrities' swimsuits reveal about them >>

Port said she knew Rosenman was the one the second she met him. She told SheKnows that she was at a former boyfriend's birthday dinner when she met her future husband.

"Tim was there. And I sat across from him. I left the dinner saying to a mutual friend, 'Oh my God. Who is that guy? I think I love him.' Seriously!" she said. "There was just something about him. He was super funny, really normal and just really laid-back. Not pretentious, and not trying too hard."

We can't wait to see how Port's new look will factor into her and Rosenman's wedding day.

Get ready for another talent competition show! Coming this summer on ABC is a new singing series called Rising Star, hosted by Josh Groban.

It's a similar premise to American Idol, where a panel of judges offer their feedback after a performance. Brad Paisley, Ludacris and Kesha are slated to be the panel of experts for the summer series. This will be Kesha's first major gig after her stint in rehab for an eating disorder.

It's confirmed: Gwen Stefani is the new judge on The Voice >>

According to EW, this show does have a hook that separates it from AI or The Voice. Rising Star will have a live component that the U.S. has not seen before. Competitors will perform with a video wall separating them from the audience. The audience votes in real time, using a smartphone app, while photos of the fans voting are splashed onto the big screen.

If contestants reach a certain level of votes, the wall goes up and the contestants are revealed to the audience. Singers will know in real time whether they are advancing in the competition.

The announcement was timed to ABC's Sunday broadcast of the 2014 Billboard Music Awards. Ludacris is hosting the awards show, and the rest of the team is set to appear at the music event.

Rising Star will premiere on Sunday, June 22, at 9 p.m. on ABC.

Zoe Saldana's Nina Simone biopic might be doomed

Nina, Ealing Studios' movie chronicling the life of legendary jazz musician Nina Simone, is set to debut this week at Cannes. However, the movie has been shrouded in controversy ever since casting was announced, leaving many to question the fate of the film.

Zoe Saldana wants to buy herself a brand new pair of breasts >>

Nina first came under fire when it was announced that Rosemary's Baby actress Zoe Saldana would be playing the title role. Many Simone fans voiced their disappointment in the choice, citing racial differences, departure in appearance between Simone and Zaldana and the fact that Saldana's voice would not be up to par.

Simone's family members have also had a hard time swallowing some of the plot content. Daughter Simone claims that the movie's love story between the singer and her assistant, Clifton Henderson, is completely false, according to Clutch magazine. Simone penned an open letter to the producers of the flick, saying, "Please note, this project is unauthorized. The Nina Simone Estate was never asked permission nor invited to participate." She added: "By the way: Clifton Henderson was gay. He was not attracted to women. So, the truth is... Nina Simone and Clifton Henderson NEVER had a relationship other than a business one. Please correct me, but isn't a biopic the story of one's life?"

Casting and plot criticisms aside, the biggest problem at hand for the film now appears to be an internal issue. Earlier this week, Nina's co-writer and director Cynthia Mort filed a lawsuit against the British Ealing Studios production company, claiming the terms of her directing deal had been breached, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Apparently Mort no longer wants to be linked to the film because it is not representative of her original vision. The suit, filed by attorney Howard Weitzman, states, "She (Mort) worked tirelessly to prepare the Film for a wide and successful commercial release. Yet, throughout the course of the Film's production and post-production, Defendants consistently acted to frustrate Mort's involvement in the Film, thereby breaching the Director Agreement."

There are plenty of Hollywood legends involving TV shows and movies that have been cursed. Recently, WGN's show Salem was rumored to be jinxed after several cast members were injured on set. Mia Farrow and the rest of the original Rosemary's Baby production team were thought to be ill-fated as well.

Only time will tell for Nina, and we'll be watching to see how the premiere turns out at this week's festival.

Over the years, we've seen Jessica Simpson's weight fluctuate quite a bit. The girl we first came to know as a thin teenage pop star grew up and gave birth to daughter Maxwell, then did an impressive job of slimming down. Not long afterward, she got pregnant with son Ace and then shed the baby weight once more.

It's this been there, done that experience Simpson, estimated to be worth $150 million, credits for making her clothing line a smashing success.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson finally set a wedding date >>

"I have been every size on the planet and I understand women," the beauty who isn't afraid to go without makeup explained to Forbes. "And I just know how to dress them. I know there's all different kinds. There's life in the whole world beyond LA and New York. I understand Middle America and their mindset."

It's working, to say the least. The Jessica Simpson Collection rakes in about $1 billion a year at retail, while Forbes calculates her personal take of that loot is "tens of millions" annually.

Hollywood moms get real: Sex life after baby >>

If she's ever puzzled by whether or not a piece is right, Simpson puts it to the family test. The proud mom of two, who'll soon be expanding with a home goods line and then a baby line, explained, "When I'm in approval or inspiration meetings, I think of what I want my Nana to wear and what my 2-year-old daughter Maxwell would look adorable in."

"My business is the heart of who I am," she added. "I want to make every woman feel confident in what they're wearing. I do feel like we're very fashion-forward, but we also listen to the consumer."

Not that we're complaining about our own lives, but if somehow the whole Freaky Friday premise came true, we would want to switch lives with Blake Lively. The hair. The body. The wardrobe. The husband! It's enough to make anyone green with envy.

Penn Badgley on Blake Lively: "I didn't send a wedding gift" >>

Lively is increasingly becoming known for her keen fashion sense rather than her acting career, and the past couple weeks have amplified this fact. The 26-year-old starlet has been working the red carpet at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival, looking flawless as usual.

However, it's been a bit since Lively has entertained us on the big or little screen. Gossip Girl ended in 2012, and we haven't really seen her in anything since (though The Age of Adaline, starring Lively and Harrison Ford, is due out in 2015, according to IMDB).

Could it be the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants star is pulling a Victoria Beckham? Judging by Lively's personal style, there certainly wouldn't be any shortage of buyers if she decided to start her own fashion line.

A couple of examples to solidify the case:

On May 15, she owned the carpet for the premiere of Mr. Turner in a light blue Chanel gown, according to Us Weekly. The ensemble nips at the middle, creating a perfect hourglass figure, and the pastel color of the dress complements her skin tone perfectly.

The day before the Mr. Turner premiere, the Gossip Girl actress showed up at the festival's opening ceremonies looking equally fab but rocking a completely different kind of look. While the sparkly pastel number was ethereal and flowing, the previous night's theme was much more sleek and sophisticated. She's not looking too shabby for a girl who claims she doesn't go to the gym and eats chocolate every morning and night.

Blake Lively

No outfit is complete without proper arm candy, and while it appears that Lively is lacking in that arena at some of this week's events, she usually has that aspect on lockdown. Just last week at the Met Gala, the actress was the epitome of Old Hollywood glamour, accompanied by her hunky husband, Ryan Reynolds. The gorgeous couple have been married since 2012.

Even more amazing? "I don't work with a stylist," Lively said to Us Weekly in 2011. "I just like whatever I am feeling. Sometimes things are really beautiful, but they just don't photograph well, and that's that. I don't know, I don't really look at pictures of me when I'm in public," she added.

The Bella Twins

Total Divas Brie and Nikki Garcia (aka the Bella Twins) may star in a successful reality show, but that doesn't mean you know everything there is to know about these WWE champs. The girls shared some behind-the-scenes secrets and some unexpected laughs with us.

1. They're not "fans" of changing naked

We wanted to know about their craziest fan encounters, and Brie's was by far the funniest. "Mine would have to be when I was changing in a locker room after workout, completely naked, and someone came up and was trying to have a conversation with me. And it was funny because in my head, I was like, 'Do I quickly put clothes on, but does that make them uncomfortable? Or do I slowly do it so they don't think I'm making this awkward?'"

INTERVIEW: Former wrestler Amy Weber on her life-endangering video shoot >>

2. They still fight like sisters

"I think because we are sisters, and we are so close, it's actually easy because we're like a 30-year-old couple who bickers all the time," Nikki explained. So don't be fooled — just because they fight definitely does not mean these girls don't have each other's back when it comes down to it.

3. There are ups and downs to the WWE

"I think the hardest thing in WWE is that there's only one spot for a woman, and that's the WWE Diva Championship," Nikki shared. "There's 18 of us girls and you're going for one spot, and you see that on Total Divas. We're friends, but at the same time, because we are going for one spot, you see the competitiveness, you see the claws come out. No matter how hard you work, if it's not your time, it's not your time."

Nikki was also sure to point out that "it's the biggest payoff" once you finally do win the title.

4. They know the English language, though they might need a brush-up

"It's so funny because I knew that my sister and I didn't know the English language, but wow, after hearing some of our conversations, Nicole, I think we need to go back to school for a little bit!" Brie said with a laugh.

We can attest that during our interview, at least, the Bella Twins were well-spoken.

Remember when Snooki showed up at WWE Raw? So weird >>

5. They're not snooty, they're true to their role

Brie explained that the two were "heeled" for a long time in the WWE, which means they were the "bad girls" of the show. They really stayed in that character but, as a result, were given a snooty reputation and a negative light. Both girls agreed they were grateful to Total Divas for bringing to light the fact that they're actually nice, fun people.

6. They don't have boundaries

"I think because of our relationship, of being sisters, is kind of why so many people like us. Because we have no boundaries," Brie explained. "We love each other so much, we know it's nothing personal. It's how we were raised."

7. They're not gladiators

Nikki joked that they often go into fittings only to see medium and large sizes. People are surprised and caught off guard at their small frames. These girls may be tough chicks you don't want to mess with, but their frames are lean and mean. The girls are 5 feet 6 inches tall, in case you were wondering.

8. Total Divas needs a blooper reel

The twins shared their favorite moments that didn't make Season 2 of Total Divas.

Nikki said John faked a heart attack during a workout once while he was injured and scared the heck out of her. Following the fear, the two laughed about the prank.

Brie said her favorite moment not shown in the season was a scene from Bryan's birthday. Brie purchased a bunch of cute outfits for his present, not realizing how matchy-matchy they were. She explained that Bryan's comments about the ordeal were the best.

9. Married life is "amazing"

Brie is loving married life. From the honeymoon to being called Mrs. Danielson, this girl is enjoying her newlywed status.

As for Nikki, "We're just happily together and love being under one roof again," Nikki explained about her relationship with John Cena. "There's no diamonds. Just love."

10. Nikki is not a good maid of honor

Brie called out her sister during our interview, to which Nikki replied, "What?!"

You can judge for yourself when you see the wedding Sunday on E! during the Total Divas season finale.

Green fashion

With its close ties to nature and rebirth, it’s no surprise green is the go-to color to energize your wardrobe for spring/summer. The good news is, it looks great on every skin type. It’s all about finding the right green hue for you, whether it be army, mint, apple, lime, forest or olive. Do some experimentation at your local department store to figure out which shade of green works best for you. Want to appear down-to-earth? Try a muted green. Want to come off as young, fun and playful? A bright green tote or hat is probably your best bet (we’d recommend steering clear of neons for a job interview though). Blue-greens are a solid choice for women who want to maintain a friendly and approachable air, yet still ooze confidence as well.

Performers hang out in green rooms to relax and calm their nerves before a big show. So if you’re feeling stressed out and/or overwhelmed, maybe it’s time you create your own. Get back to nature and revive the energy in your house by using green as a soothing accent color (think green plants, pillows and perhaps even a green accent wall). In Feng Shui, green represents renewal and health. However, just like in nature where there are thousands of different shades of green, to reap the full healing benefits of the hue it’s important to incorporate a variety of different green shades into your home too. Mix bright greens with light greens, jades, emeralds, limes and more. For increased concentration and peace of mind at work, green can be a great color to decorate with as well. Plus, who knows, because it’s the color of money it may even motivate you to increase your wealth.

Green beauty products

What do Katy Perry, Kylie Jenner and Kesha all have in common? Besides the fact that they’re celebrities, green hair, of course. If you’re itching to refresh your look for spring without chopping off your locks, play it semi-safe by giving green hair chalk a try first. Not exactly your thing? No worries. Trade in your jet-black mascara for a gorgeous green one, or pretty up your peepers with an emerald smoky eye instead of sticking to basic black. For clearer, calmer skin that’s acne-free, a green tea oil-control mask will be your new bestie. It soothes inflammation, all the while reducing redness and minimizing sebum production. Need a quick pick-me-up? Lift your spirits with a flirty floral green fragrance that’s feminine and fresh at the same time.

Fun Fact: Thanks in part to green's calming nature, after London’s Blackfriar Bridge was painted the color, suicide rates dropped by an astonishing 34 percent.

Friendly or fake? What you're telling people with your smile

Group of women smiling | Sheknows.com

What's the first thing people notice about you? If you said your eyes, your body or your personality, you're probably a little off base. In fact, a recent survey revealed that nearly two-thirds of men notice a woman's smile before anything else (that's what they're saying, anyway).

Since your smile is such a key component of first impressions, it's important to know what your grin says about you before you head into social situations. According to researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, people employ six different types of smiles in daily interactions. Here are what those smiles mean to the people around you.

The Duchenne smile

When you smile "with your eyes," you're employing the Duchenne smile. This type of smile is completely genuine and it activates all of the muscles in your face, including your lips and eyes. It communicates authenticity and warmth. And, sorry: It's really hard to fake. People who regularly use the Duchenne smile live longer and have better relationships than people who don't.

The amused smile

Typically, the amused smile is accompanied by laughter and throwing back your head. You probably use it after you hear a good joke. People who use the amused smile regularly are seen as having a good sense of humor and playfulness.

The interested smile

When you raise your eyebrows and smirk, you communicate that you're interested in something or someone. While raised eyebrows by themselves simply communicate surprise, the added smirk signals an openness to new ideas and thoughts.

The love smile

Have you ever seen a person's face melt — figuratively, of course — when you tell them you're in love? The love smile is characterized by a softening of the eyes and lips, typically with dilated pupils. If your eyes soften and you smile, either broadly or reservedly, you're communicating love or adoration.

The flirty smile

If you've ever been really into a guy at the bar, you've probably used the flirty smile. The flirty smile may not be entirely genuine, but it certainly communicates interest in the object of desire. You can master the flirty smile by looking coyly from the corner of your eyes with your head turned. Make sure to smile subtly, or else you'll just be throwing side-eye at some unsuspecting dude.

The embarrassed smile

When you smile while looking down at the ground, you're communicating that you're embarrassed or apologetic. The embarrassed smile is a non-verbal way of declaring that you're in the wrong. Of course, this is a great posture if you've made a legitimate mistake, but stay away from the embarrassed smile at work so you'll be taken seriously.

As you try to parse out the meanings of all these smiles, the most important thing to remember is to smile broadly and warmly with the Duchenne smile as often as you can. If, however, you're embarrassed of your smile and try to hide your teeth, this can come across as condescending or rude. Feel confident as you flash your teeth by using a high-quality whitening and strengthening toothpaste like ARM & HAMMER™ Truly Radiant.

Pop Rocks Found in Mother Nature!

In the past year, finger limes have been popping up all over the food world. From bloggers to chefs, food lovers everywhere have been experimenting with the fun and novelty of these citrus fruits.

Finger limes are small, pinkie-finger-shaped fruits that are packed with clusters of little juice-filled pearls. Bite into those pearls, and you're pleasantly shocked with a burst of intensely tart lime juice. The flavor is a bit like a cross between a lemon and a lime and is strong enough that a little goes a long way.

Finger lime season runs from July through January. If you don't see finger limes in your local grocery store or market, then you can order them online directly from Shanley Farms in California.

Sunday dinner: Hearty pasta with beef ragu

Pasta with beef ragu

If you've spent time in an Italian household, particularly on a Sunday, you've likely enjoyed a meal of pasta with beef ragu. This Sunday dinner recipe will transform your mealtime into a traditional Italian specialty.

Pasta with beef ragu

This is a simple dish, but the flavors combine during cooking to transform into an amazing taste. This dish is best served with a long, flat pasta like pappardelle or fettuccine. The sauce might be a little thinner than what you're used to, but it's just enough to perfectly coat the pasta. Don't forget a glass of red wine and crusty bread to soak up any extra sauce.

Pasta with beef ragu

This recipe is easy to make but takes a little time to cook. This is a case of "good things come to those who wait," but not that long.

Hearty pasta with beef ragu recipe

Serves 4

Ingredients:

  • 2-1/2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 5 ounces sliced mushrooms
  • 1 pound chuck steak, fat trimmed, cut into cubes
  • 1/3 cup white onion, diced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) can crushed tomatoes with juice
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup red wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper, divided
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, divided
  • 1/2 pound long, flat pasta like pappardelle or fettuccine
  • Grated Parmesan cheese as garnish

Directions:

  1. Season the beef cubes with 1/4 teaspoon of salt and 1/4 teaspoon of ground black pepper. Set aside.
  2. To a Dutch oven over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of the olive oil. When hot, add the beef, and cook to brown it, approximately 2 to 3 minutes. You may want to do this in 2 batches so the pan is not crowded.
  3. Remove the beef, and set it aside.
  4. Add a 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil to the pan. When the oil has heated, add the onion, salt, pepper and 1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper. Cook for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the mushrooms to the pan, and cook for a minute or so along with the oregano.
  6. Add the wine, and cook for about 1 minute. Add 3/4 cup of water to the pan. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and cook the mixture uncovered for about 10 minutes or until the mushrooms soften.
  7. Add the tomato paste to the mixture along with the tomatoes and their liquid and the remaining red pepper flakes. Mix, and add the beef to the pan.
  8. Reduce the heat to low. Cover, and cook for 30 to 40 minutes.
  9. When the sauce has about 10 minutes of cooking time left, cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain and set it aside.
  10. Toss the pasta into the pan with the sauce. Stir to coat, and serve with grated Parmesan cheese as garnish.

Simmer this sauce for a traditional dish.

Simply refreshing Arnold Palmer ice pops

arnold palmer ice pops

I was introduced to the famous Arnold Palmer drink six years ago at a work lunch. Every time I went to lunch with one of my coworkers, she would order this drink. When you hear the name, you think it is some fancy drink, but it's just lemonade and tea. Simplicity at its best. Summer is approaching, and I thought it would be fun to put this drink in an ice pop. The best part about it is that only three ingredients are needed, and it's super easy to put together.

Gourmet hot dogs

Photo credit: Annabelle Breakey/Digital Vision/Getty Images

This Memorial Day weekend, what are you planning on grilling? Although the usual hamburgers and hot dogs sound delicious, switch it up and serve a variety of sausages, buns and homemade condiments to your guests. To inspire you, we've served up not only a roundup of unique recipes but also a Q&A with Russell van Kraayenburg, author of Haute Dogs: Recipes for Delicious Hot Dogs, Buns and Condiments. Born and raised in Texas, he's also the author of the award-winning site Chasing Delicious.

SheKnows: If you were to eat the last hot dog of your life, what would it be topped with? Describe sausage, bun and condiments.

Russell van Kraayenburg: I'd have to go with the Chicago Dog — an all-beef hot dog on a poppy seed bun, covered with yellow mustard, diced onions, tomato wedges, sport peppers, a pickle slice and celery salt. It's a true dragged-through-the-garden dog, and I love everything about it.

SK: We love that your book features hot dogs from all over the world. Any country you'd like to tackle next and create a signature hot dog for?

RvK: It may not be a country, but I'd love to do a hot dog for Antarctica. What would I put on the dog? I have no idea. But I know those poor scientists down there deserve their own hot dog recipe too.

SK: What's your favorite condiment for a simple sausage and bun dog?

RvK: I am a mustard guy, for sure. I almost never have a hot dog without mustard. I think the punch and spicy tang pair wonderfully with the beef or pork in the hot dog.

American Flag cheesecake bars

I have always loved Memorial Day. It's the kickoff to summer, and the weather is always starting to warm up. Since winter was so long this year, I'm looking forward to opening a cold beer, making some s'mores and enjoying all the Memorial Day festivities. The best part is that I'm going to bring this gem of a recipe, which always makes my family swoon. It's creamy, no-bake (which means no hot kitchen) and a breeze to decorate.

American Flag cheesecake bars

American flag cheesecake bar recipe

Yields 6

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 16 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Red gel decorating pen or squeeze bottle

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar and melted butter. Mix together until completely combined and the crackers are moistened.
  2. Line an 8 x 8-inch pan with parchment paper, and press the graham cracker crust into the bottom of the pan.
  3. In the bowl of an electric mixer, add the cream cheese and vanilla bean paste or extract. On medium speed, mix until creamy.
  4. Pour in the heavy whipping cream, slowly incorporate, and once fully incorporated, turn the speed to high and beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  5. Pour in the sugar, and mix until combined.
  6. Spread the cheesecake mixture on top of the prepared crust, and let it chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  7. Once you're ready to decorate, remove from the pan, and cut into 6 bars.
  8. Add 4 blueberries to the top left corner, and then squeeze on gel lines to look like the American flag.
  9. Keep the bars cold if not serving them right away.
