Why, 10 years later, I'd still date Ross Geller

Ross from Friends

In case you didn’t feel old already lately, last week marked 10 years since the finale of this beloved sitcom.

In between drooling over “The Rachel” haircut and quoting Phoebe’s silly songs, I remember having legitimate discussions with my girlfriends over which Friends dude we would date and why. It got pretty heated (Do not get a Chandler-girl started.).

And looking back, I still stand by my choice.

The way I see it, Joey is an automatic out because no one really took him seriously enough to actually date. So it always came down to the self-deprecating funnyman or the sensitive nerd. And man, I go for sensitive nerd every time.

In his favor, of course, is the fact that Ross was such a lover. Yes, he had a pretty terrible track record with relationships and marriages, but man was his heart always in it. (She’s his lobster, remember?)

Ross, Joey and Chandler from Friends

Take this scene for example

Mark: Rachel Green's line, how may I help you?

Ross: Hi, is Rachel there?

Mark: And who may I say is calling?

Ross: This is Ross.

Mark: Ross of...?

Ross: Of Ross and Rachel.

Do you feel that fierce loyalty and passion? I do. Ross was supremely loveable and the best kind of underdog. He was the sleeper character that people forgot to love and for that reason alone I love him.

Also, let’s not pretend for a second that life with Joey or Chandler wouldn’t be super predictable. You would start to predict Chandler’s sarcastic comments, and you’d definitely get bored by Joey’s daftness.

But with Ross, especially late-in-the-series-kooky Ross, you would never know what was coming. Except for a heaping dose of romance and adoration.

Case in point, when Ross made a pro and con list deciding between dating Rachel or some other chick (Julie? Who cares.). At the end of the episode when Rachel confronts him about the things he wrote about her, he tells her to flip it over and look at what he wrote about the other girl:

"She's not Rachel."

OK well it actually said "She's not Rachem" because of Chandler's typo. But did you die of romance at this episode or what? That's all Ross, guys.

So you’re welcome to disagree with me, but it's a decade later, and I’m still standing by my man. Still not convinced? I’ll leave you with six words:

Leather pants.

"Pivot!"

Spray tan

Unagi.

And I rest my case.

Sea salt and vanilla popcorn

A little-known baking ingredient that's gaining popularity is a sweet brown dust called vanilla powder. Vanilla beans are dried, cured and finely ground, creating a light and sweet powder with an intoxicating scent.

Beware of products labeled vanilla powder that actually contain a bit of vanilla flavoring but are packed with fillers. True vanilla powder, like the powder found at vanillamart.com, contains pure vanilla beans and nothing else. Accept no substitutes!

Vanilla powder can be used in a one-for-one substitution in any recipe calling for vanilla extract. It's a great way to remove alcohol content from a recipe. It's also a wonderful way to add a dusting of sweetness to food without adding sugar. Try sprinkling it on fresh fruit or on the popcorn recipe below.

Sea salt and vanilla popcorn

Sea salt and vanilla popcorn recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, divided
  • 1/3 cup uncooked popcorn kernels
  • 1/4 teaspoon finely ground sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla powder

Instructions:

  1. In a large pot on high, heat 1 tablespoon of oil until it starts to shimmer.
  2. Add the popcorn, and cover the pot with a lid. When you hear the corn begin to pop, alternate shaking the pot and setting it back on the burner until the popping stops.
  3. Immediately pour the popcorn into a large bowl to prevent burning.
  4. Melt the remaining tablespoon of coconut oil, and drizzle it over the popcorn. Toss well.
  5. Sprinkle the sea salt and vanilla powder onto the popcorn, and toss again.

Serious injuries after bounce house flies away

Moon bounce | Sheknows.com

Bounce houses are an easy way to let your kids play safely, right? Unfortunately, there are risks involved when you let your children loose inside one — for example, you have to make sure they don't jump on top of one another. However, no one ever expects a freak gust of wind to snatch a bounce house containing three children and fling it 50 feet into the air, dropping the kids and seriously injuring two of them. But that's exactly what happened in a South Glens Falls, New York neighborhood.

Boys dropped from 15 feet

A neighbor had set up the bounce house, made by Little Tikes and measuring around 10 feet square, for the children to enjoy. It had an open top and mesh sides. On the day of the accident, there were three children inside when a strong gust of wind pulled it from its anchors. One child, a 10-year-old girl, tumbled out right away, but two boys, ages 5 and 6, were unfortunately taken for a ride before they dropped out. Witnesses estimate that they were at least 15 feet off the ground when they fell, one landing on a parked car, and the other on asphalt.

Both boys were taken to the hospital where they remain in serious condition. Witnesses report that one child suffered broken arms and facial injuries, and the other experienced a traumatic head injury. The bounce house proceeded to lift up, up and away before finally coming to rest in a field behind a school, and reportedly reached heights up to 50 feet.

How can you prevent such an accident?

It is nearly impossible to predict freak accidents like this. Renting a bounce house from a professional might be your best bet, but if you don't, ensure that they are properly secured and double check all anchors before kids get in. And if it's windy, it's better to stay out of outdoor bounce houses. It is possible, however, that this accident couldn't have been prevented.

Restaurant discounts check for a well-behaved kid

Family eating meal together | Sheknows.com

One lovely young family in Canada decided to have a special meal out for Mother’s Day, but were surprised when they received the bill — and a discount for a “well-behaved kid.” The restaurant was Carino Japanese Bistro in Canada and the parents were quite proud that their child was recognized for her table manners.

A reflection of good parenting

Although the parents noted that the Bistro is not exactly “kid-friendly,” they often take their 1-year-old daughter there for special visits and on this occasion, the owners took notice of a mother doing a good job. "We welcome the kids and wanted to show some appreciation for kids (of course for parents) with dining manners,” commented the restaurant’s owner.

The parents agreed that the gesture was a gracious one. “I feel it was just a really nice gesture,” Daley Welsh, the husband of the dynamic parenting duo said. “And it really made my wife’s Mother’s Day special, affirming her hard work as a parent for the last year.”

What’s wrong with this picture?

On one hand, I’m very happy for this little family and their perfect angel of a daughter. I’m even excited that they got a discount, because like any cost-contentious mother, I can appreciate a good coupon when I see one. But on the other hand, can I please just say, what the heck?

This story has circulated throughout the media outlets as a heart-warming one, a reward for good parenting, but I can’t help but see it in another light. I see two concerning assumptions.

  • That restaurant employees assume that customers with young kids are all hell-bent on causing everyone to have a miserable experience and
  • Every public child meltdown is the direct reflection of how adept we are as parents

A learning experience

Like the couple in the story, I went out to eat with my family and my parents for Mother’s Day with my three young children, ages 5, 3 and 1. Over the course of breakfast, my 1-year-old spilled his chocolate milk, my 3-year-old broke a plate, and someone — I’m not naming names — ate an entire packet of butter. And honestly, we had a wonderful time. They weren’t out of control, they weren’t wreaking havoc, they were just being three normal kids crammed in a restaurant booth and to some extent, I expect a little controlled chaos when we take them out.

But we still take them out. With the assumption that we deserve a meal out as much as the next person and with the understanding that we are teaching them — with every menu, every wait and every admonition to “sit down, please” — how to behave properly.

We aren’t perfect parents, our kids aren’t perfect children, but for goodness sakes, can we not make a parade out of it every time a child behaves out in public?

Good behavior happens, just like bad behavior. And yes, I’m a bit partial, as the mom of many young children, but it just rubs me the wrong way when the “normal” expectation is for kids to be total terrors and for parents like me to be too tired to care about it.

Sometimes, kids have meltdowns, in public or not. Often they are inadvertently clumsy and active, but not necessarily in a bad way. Sometimes, kids behave so perfectly you wish you could bottle it up and take it out for the next round of bad behavior. And sometimes, they are a strange mixture of both in the span of mere seconds.

It doesn’t make us any worse or any better as parents. And believe it or not, parents with young children do deserve to eat out in public.

Even without the “good behavior" discount.

It's a "wicked" good day for Broadway fans because it was announced that one of their favorite theater stars was returning to the Great White Way. Kristin Chenoweth will star in the revival of the 1978 musical comedy On the Twentieth Century.

The former Wicked actress has been attached to this project for years. It's long been a rumor in the Broadway community that it would happen, so theater pundits are relieved it has finally come to fruition.

Kristin Chenoweth sings "wicked" song to Anthony Weiner >>

The show revolves around the shenanigans of a Hollywood diva, Lily Garland, who is on a luxury train trip from Chicago to New York City. The pint-sized star will play the lead role after a five-year absence from the stage. Chenoweth's last stage vehicle was Promises, Promises in 2010 with Sean Hayes.

The Tony Award winner will be joined by Peter Gallagher as her former lover and struggling theater producer Oscar Jaffee. Gallagher was last seen on Broadway in 2008 in The Country Girl.

Tony Award nominations: NPH & Bryan Cranston are in >>

Audiences will only have a short amount of time to see the two performers onstage together. It is a 20-week limited engagement with previews on Feb. 15, 2015, and opening night on March 12, 2015 at the American Airlines Theatre in New York City. The show will close on July 5, 2015.

Scott Ellis is scheduled to direct the production, Warren Carlyle will choreograph the show and the Roundabout Theatre Company is producing the musical. They currently have the revival of Cabaret starring Michelle Williams running at The Kit Kat Club at Studio 54.

Solange's fight with Jay Z is all Rihanna's fault

It's a mystery that was set to surpass that of "Who killed Tupac and Biggie?" Everyone wants to know #whatjayzsaidtosolange in that elevator to make her go nuts on him. While the three main players — Jay Z, Solange and Beyoncé — aren't talking, sources close to the situation are, and they are painting a picture of a typical family feud and a sister-in-law who should probably mind her own business.

An insider told The New York Daily News that trouble started earlier in the night when non-celeb pals of Solange tried to crash the Met Ball by dropping Jay-Z's name.

"They were pretending they were guests of his and not hers. Management went to Julius (Beyoncé's bodyguard) and said there's a problem," the source said.

Hova told her to knock it off, setting the mood for the rest of the night.

Solange then got into it with Rachel Roy, according to onlookers. "Solange was provoked by Rachel," a witness told People, with another adding that Bey's little sis was "yelling at other people in the party."

But the straw that broke the camel's back was when Jay Z decided to go to Rihanna's after party while Bey went home.

"[Solange] seemed drunk and irritated," another pal told The Daily News. "She said, 'Why can't you go home?' and to Beyoncé, 'Why does your husband need to go to the club right now?'"

Jay Z basically told her to mind her own business. "You're one to talk," he replied, according to the source — and that's when all hell broke loose.

"Jay said something inappropriate to Beyoncé and Solange, and she snapped," another insider told People. "When they got in the elevator, it escalated quickly the way family tensions can. It got exceptionally heated the way family moments can."

Beyoncé remained cool as a cucumber during and after the altercation, which may have ticked off Solange even more and cause the cold social media battle of passive-aggressiveness between the sisters. Bey and Jay Z seem totally untroubled by the family feud and were spotted courtside at the Brooklyn Nets game last night.

I was really proud of Candace and her jazz this week. I was a little bummed she forgot a bit of the waltz. It was actually a little ironic because all week she was forgetting the jazz and killing the waltz. Making it to the semifinals was huge, but then to make it to the finals and be called "safe" early in the show was an amazing and exhilarating feeling.

I am really sad to see Charlie go because he's so friendly and so cool, and I think, out of everyone in the competition, he had the perfect outlook on what it means to be joyful and passionate.

DWTS' Mark Ballas blogs: Dancing to my own tune >>

Going into the finals we've got the freestyle, which should be fun because people always look forward to that style and dance. I've got some really cool ideas for Candace, and I think people will enjoy her piece. We're also going to be using some great music. We feel very honored and privileged to make it to the finals.

We're super-grateful to fans for voting for us because we've been able to exceed Candace's goal. She wanted to make it to Week 6, but to make it to the finals is a huge dream come true for her. She's really excited about that. If we really nail the routine, there's a chance we could win. Who knows? I feel like it's anyone's game right now. I've been saying the show is kinda like playing blackjack — it all depends on which cards you get that night. Hopefully, Candace gets two aces and we Mark Ballascan take it. But if not, we're really happy with our journey and what we've accomplished. I feel like Candace has improved every week, gained more confidence and gained more fans. It's so exciting that people are really supporting her. Again, we're just so grateful.

DWTS' Mark Ballas blogs: Candace gets psyched >>

Another fun thing: This week, Candace and I went to Wango Tango. She was losing her mind over ZEDD, Tiësto and Calvin Harris. Who knew she was such an EDM-head? It was quite hilarious to watch her do that and dance.

You can keep voting for us all day. Voting is open until 5:00 p.m. PST.

"Caught in the act. I'll let Candace handle this one."

The music video for "Get My Name" premieres tomorrow on MTV Hits, MTV U, and MTV.com. Derek Hough directed it, and I'm really excited for everyone to see it. You can see one of the teasers for the video below, and you can get the song on iTunes.

Michael Jackson estate hit with new sex abuse claims

Michael Jackson has been gone for close to five years, but the lawsuits regarding sexual abuse keep coming. The latest allegation is being reported by The Daily Beast.

According to the website, James Safechuck, who starred in a Pepsi ad with the King of Pop in 1987, has officially added his name to an existing complaint filed by choreographer, Wade Robson, in May 2013. Despite denying abuse claims for years, Safechuck now states that he was molested by the "Thriller" singer from the age of 10.

Debbie Rowe is fighting for custody of Michael Jackson's kids >>

What makes the whole civil suit more complex is the fact that Robson testified in Jackson's defense back in 2005 when he was on trial for child molestation. Jackson was eventually found not guilty. The dancer is now 31 years old and is seeking money from the estate of the music legend.

A Safechuck source told The Daily Beast, "It's the same type of sex abuse claim as Wade's, only with a different set of facts… and dates."

The insider also claims that Safechuck came to the pedophilia conclusion once he had his own family. They said, "Once you start having children and you see what it's all about… your perspective on life changes."

The kid is not his son! Michael Jackson DNA results fake >>

Back in the 1980s, Safechuck was a child star who was cast in the Jackson Pepsi ad to promote the singer's Bad tour. The young boy became a constant companion of the pop star over the next few years. His name was mentioned as a possible sexual abuse victim during the 2005 trial, but he always denied the allegations.

As former Santa Barbara prosecutor, Ron Zonen, from the 2005 trial told The Daily Beast, "I don't think we're done yet. All these people, these suspected victims, are now in their early 30s, all young adults and they are coming to grips with what happened to them."

This story may take a long time to be resolved.

Alec Baldwin knows how to share his anger, and if it's not taken out on a photographer, it's generally on Twitter. After being arrested Tuesday, May 13, Baldwin shared his thoughts on the arresting officer, as well as his anger over being told he was breaking the law.

Alec Baldwin's dream is to quit acting — and social media >>

Baldwin's arrest came after he was pulled over for allegedly riding his bike the wrong way down the street, and not having ID on him when he was pulled over, according to MTV. TMZ reported that police said the actor was "belligerent" after being taken into custody. Baldwin was put into the back of a squad car during the incident.

Baldwin was cited for disorderly conduct as well as the bike infraction. He admitted to the crime later on Twitter, tweeting the name of the police officer and his badge number, and adding that the officer "arrested me and handcuffed me for going the wrong way on Fifth Ave."

Back in 2012, Baldwin deleted his personal Twitter account after an incident with a flight attendant. He has since been using the Alec Baldwin Foundation's Twitter account to share his personal thoughts.

Sam Worthington & stalkerazzi: Are celeb reactions justified? >>

The 30 Rock star was upset to be in trouble, but reminded the police they were not there to help him when he and his family were surrounded by paparazzi.

It was just three months ago that Baldwin wrote a piece for New York magazine hinting that he would be leaving New York for the City of Angels, but it appears that has yet to happen. He continued his Twitter rant on Tuesday, blaming the city of New York for everything that happened.

Jessica Simpson has been engaged to fiancé Eric Johnson for years, and it didn't seem like they were actually planning a wedding. But it looks like their marriage will come sooner than we'd imagined, because they have finally set a wedding date.

No Italian wedding for Jessica Simpson — what happened? >>

A source told Us Weekly that Johnson and Simpson will be getting married over the Fourth of July weekend this year, and hope to say their "I do's" in Santa Barbara, California.

Simpson and Johnson became engaged back in 2010, but they postponed wedding plans after Simpson became pregnant with their first child. They now have two children, and apparently think this is the right time.

"We are very close to sending out our invites," Simpson told USA Today earlier this month. "I've been very picky on how I want everything to look and feel. Eric's family alone is almost 90 people, so it'll definitely be a big event."

The couple's busy lives may also be responsible for the delayed wedding. After giving birth to her second child in June 2013, Simpson again signed on as the spokeswoman for Weight Watchers.

Hollywood Moms get real: Sex life after baby >>

Simpson married her first husband Nick Lachey back in 2002, and reportedly is planning to make this wedding very different, all the way down to her dress.

"Jessica is having something unique made," a source said. "It will be very different from the Vera Wang she wore to wed Nick Lachey."

The source said she is not planning on wearing white her second time around. Let's just hope with the timing of their wedding that she is not planning on wearing a red, white and blue dress (or her infamous Daisy Dukes).

  5. Sprinkle the shredded pepper jack cheese over the mixture, and top with green onions (if using) and extra bacon.
  6. Use pita chips or tortilla chips to eat the dip.

Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling is still making headlines for his interview with Anderson Cooper where he claimed that he was baited into making his infamous racist remarks. In addition to asking for public forgiveness, Sterling also shared some not-so-nice thoughts on NBA icon Magic Johnson, questioning how much effort famous American Americans put into their community.

Magic Johnson's son is gay >>

Just a day later, Johnson sat down with Cooper to respond to the Sterling's claims, deeming the entire situation frustrating. During the chat, Johnson called the businessman's remarks outright disturbing and sad. Johnson told Cooper that Sterling clearly didn't do his homework before referencing famous African Americans like Tyler Perry and Spike Lee, who called him right after Sterling's interview.

"We help each other and what we try and do is band together to see how we can better our community," he explained to Cooper. "It's not about just giving them the money. It's also about giving them the tools, so they can be successful in the African American community."

In addition to slamming Johnson, Donald Sterling asked for public forgiveness and confessed that he doesn't even understand how he could have even said those words. "I don't talk about people for one thing, ever," he told Cooper. "I talk about ideas and other things. I don't talk about people."

Rihanna loves a selfie, and she is now using that love to help others. The singer decided to donate money to a police group after a series of events led to a damaged phone.

VIDEO: Are Rihanna and Drake the new Beyoncé and Jay Z? >>

RiRi was at the Los Angeles Clippers game on May 9 when she found herself sitting next to Steve Soboroff, the president of the Los Angeles Police Commission. Soboroff noticed both he and the singer were wearing blue LAPD wristbands. They decided to take a selfie with the wristbands, but Rihanna dropped his phone and cracked the screen in the process.

"I asked her to take a selfie with me wearing LAPD wristbands to show support for our officers. Rihanna took the phone from me and wanted to take the selfie herself!" Soboroff wrote on eBay. "While she was taking our selfie, she dropped the phone and the screen cracked!"

Rihanna posted an apology on Monday, as well as a commitment to donate $25,000 to the Los Angeles Police Foundation.

But that wasn't all she did to help the boys in blue. Rihanna, who has some major social media pull, also autographed Soboroff's damaged phone, writing "I (heart) LAPD" on it with the intention of auctioning it off on eBay.

The No. 1 reason Rihanna's nipples are ruining our lives >>

The current highest bid for the phone is more than $10,000. The auction is set to close Thursday, May 15.

There is no word on if Rihanna replaced the phone for Soboroff, but it looks like the commissioner feels that the donation was much more generous than a new phone.

How I Met Your Dad is a no-go: 5 Reasons it's not impressive

CBS passes on How I Met Your Dad spinoff

It was a nice idea to show the lady's perspective of the dating pool in her quest for true love, but as the details unfolded around CBS' planned spin-off How I Met Your Dad, the reality just didn't seem as legen—(wait for it) dary. Though CBS has passed on the comedy, executive producer say they're continuing to shop the pilot around to other networks. Still, the odds aren't looking so hot and we have a few reasons why.

1. Greta is great... but she's no Milioti

When the pilot was first proposed, fans were under the assumption that it would be Tracy's (Cristin Milioti) journey to meeting Ted (Josh Radnor). Many were surprised and disappointed to discover it would be an entirely new cast with an entirely new premise.

Meg Ryan to narrate How I Met Your Dad >>

2. Wait, no bro code? No slap bets or Mosby moments?

How I Met Your Mother-isms have become such a staple of the brand. Without these key and hilarious elements, a whole chunk of the show would be missing. We have no doubt How I Met Your Dad writers would come up with some witty isms of their own, but could they become such a staple part of our lives too? We're feeling iffy.

3. New cast means new dynamic

It's impossible to imagine another group of friends that could compete. Marshall (Jason Segel) and Lily (Alyson Hannigan), Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Robin (Cobie Smulders) and, of course, Ted and Tracy have found such a permanent place in our hearts, anyone else trying to join the bubble would just seem forced.

It's over for good: Our favorite quotes from Barney >>

4. Challenge accepted, but maybe not accomplished

Retooling a show is no easy feat. With Meg Ryan attached as the voice of The Mother and Greta Gerwig in it to win it, all signs were pointing toward a successful pilot. According to CBS topper Nina Tassler, "We tried to reach out and engage [the HIMYD executive producers and creators] about redoing the pilot, but that [is] just not happening. You run into these kind[s] of issues. You hope they can resolve themselves. They didn't."

5. CBS pulled a lemon law

According to Entertainment Weekly, producers weren't interested in returning to the drawing table to retool the comedy. It looks like when that happened, CBS realized early on in the relationship that the pilot wasn't going to work for them.

Are you disappointed to hear CBS pulled out of the spin-off?

Disick said he hasn't seen Kim Kardashian recently, and he hasn't been involved with any of the wedding planning. But to be fair, he told E! News he "probably won't even have anything to do with my own if I ever have one."

Kourtney and Disick have said many times they will probably never marry. They have two children together, and their lives seem to work for them at this moment. When asked (again) if the couple will ever walk down the aisle, Disick said, "It's still the same answer.

"I don't know, I mean I'm not married and I have children, so I don't think anything really changes," Disick added. "It's just a piece of paper in my eyes."

Kourtney Kardashian "so not interested" in getting married >>

Speaking of pieces of paper, sources told E! News that Kimye plan to have a civil ceremony in the U.S. so they can get their marriage license, and then will have their wedding in France. There have been rumors that the wedding will be filmed for Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but Kim Kardashian said that will not be happening. She took to Twitter earlier this month to clear up some things that are being said about the couple.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are set to be married in May, and it looks like stepdad Bruce Jenner will be walking the bride down the aisle.

No romantic sparks between Chris Martin and Alexa Chung

After a slew of rumors erupted claiming that Chris Martin and Alexa Chung were an item, the friendly pair have denied anything romantic is going on between them.

Martin and Chung were spotted having a drink together at the Elsa bar last week, and the internet started buzzing with a possible new-couple alert. But, a rep for the rocker has put the speculation to rest by confirming that "they are not dating," E! News reported.

The pair apparently looked very close and cozy on their "non-date," Heat magazine claimed. A source for the publication said they arrived at the popular hangout around 9:15 p.m. and "were tucked away in a dark corner of the back room of the bar."

The insider added that Martin and Chung appeared as if they really knew one another and happily chatted like they were on a date. The pair even asked the eyewitness to "watch their bags when they went out for a cigarette. It definitely looked like a date to me."

Martin and Chung have apparently been friends for a year and met for the first time at the Glastonbury music festival. They like to occasionally hang out and talk, but there is no romantic connection between the two. At least for now.

As is now widely known, these rumors come on the heels of Martin's infamous "conscious uncoupling" from wife Gwyneth Paltrow after 10 years of marriage. The famous duo said separating was the best thing for them right now, although they have lately been seen out on dinner dates together smiling and happy.

I'll never quit you, Vibram FiveFingers

I'm that girl... the type that absolutely hates wearing shoes. I can barely wait to get in the house before getting rid of those tiny foot prisons. I pretty much live in flip flops from February to November.

And wearing athletic shoes? Forget it, especially since every. single. shoe I've ever tried or had fitted to my high-arched footsies ended up giving me nasty blisters every time I tried to venture out for a run. It didn't matter what I wore, until a couple of years ago when my marathon runner pal suggested the "weird toe sock-shoe things," otherwise known as Vibram FiveFingers. Apparently, the minimalist shoes were scientifically proven to help strengthen foot muscles and help reduce foot injuries. So, I tried the shoes. They did feel a little strange at first, mostly because I wasn't used to landing on the ball of my foot as I trudged down the path.

Soon, I wouldn't wear anything else on my runs because — surprise — the sensitive skin around my tootsies wasn't able to rub together, so I didn't develop the painful blisters I was plagued with for years.

However, not everyone is so pleased with the shoes. Vibram just settled a $3.5 million class action lawsuit stemming from those "scientifically proven" benefits of their shoes that, well, weren't so scientifically proven. Customers that purchased the shoes after March 2009 are now eligible to receive a reimbursement for up to two pairs of FiveFingers if they submit a claim. The company also agreed to stop claiming the shoes prevent injury.

Does that spell the end for FiveFingers? Not necessarily: A recent survey found that 70 percent of FiveFingers users plan to continue using their minimalist shoes.

Count me in as one of the 70 percent. My desire is to keep my feet free of the red, raw pain of blisters. I'm used to the shoes and how they affect my running stride by now, but running coach Ashley Crossman recommends first visiting with a professional before deciding if the toe shoes are right for your running needs.

"The best way to find the right shoe for your feet is to go to a local running store and get professionally fitted," she says. "The best running stores will watch you run and analyze your gait and stride to put you in the proper shoe."

Beyoncé was also nominated for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and again for Video of the Year for her hit "Partition." Jay-Z got a second nod for Best Collaboration for his Justin Timberlake project "Holy Grail," and another for Best Male Hip Hop Artist.

It seems like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been planning their wedding forever, but it may be closer than we realize. Jolie will grace the cover of People this week, and has started to talk about wedding planning and marrying her best friend.

9 Weirdest parenting tips from celebrity moms >>

The actress explained that her and Pitt's children — Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, 9, Shiloh, 7, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 5 — will be having more input than anyone else on the wedding planning.

"We are discussing it with the children and how they imagine it might be," she told People. "Which is verging on hysterical, how kids envision a wedding."

In the interview, Jolie called her children "the wedding planners," and said that means "it's going to be Disney or paintball‚ one or the other!" Although there have been plenty of rumors the couple would be married in the past, they have yet to announce a wedding date or location.

Back in 2011, she told Vanity Fair that there was "no secret wedding" being planned. She also squashed another rumor, saying there would be no more children in their immediate future.

"I'm not pregnant. I'm not adopting at the moment," Jolie said at the time.

Angelina Jolie keeping kids out of showbiz from now on >>

Although both Jolie and Pitt continue to have wildly successful careers, she admits the couple is most concerned with their family before anything else.

"You're not lovers or boyfriend and girlfriend as much as you are a family," she explained, according to CBS News.

Angelina Jolie's interview with People will be on newsstands this Friday, May 16.

You can see the actress next (along with her daughter Shiloh) in Maleficent, in theaters May 30. Brad Pitt next stars in Fury with Shia LaBeouf.
