Study confirms that men like you with less makeup

According to some news from good ‘ol science, both women and men prefer minimal makeup on women.

Just recently, the kind people over at The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology rounded up some male and female participants and showed them photos of women in varying amounts of makeup, asking them to rate which look they found most attractive. Results showed that both sexes overwhelmingly preferred women wearing 30 to 40 percent less makeup than they originally wore in the first photo.

Gadzooks.

On one hand this is great news. A more natural look is easier. It takes less time and less money. On the other hand, we will probably be hard-pressed to heed this advice. Why, you ask? Because we are historically incorrect about what we perceive to be attractive to the opposite sex. Turns out, a big finding in the study was that not only did women think that men preferred more makeup, men thought they themselves preferred that too. We were all wrong.

A few years ago when I was about to go on a first official date with a guy I was really into, I naturally got two of my best friends on Skype as I was getting ready and tried on a few different outfit choices so they could vote. They unanimously chose the outfit I least expected, but that they said was the most “feminine” choice, the one they thought would be the most appealing to my date.

I’ll admit: Most of the time, I don’t really dress with men in mind. I’m really just dressing for other women. It’s what we do, isn’t it? The trends and fads and that crazy lipstick? They are mostly for your adoring female friends. When I stop and think about what would probably appeal to men, I realize it’s probably not that giant drape-y blouse, and it just might not have anything to do with the ridiculous nail art I just did.

But, like The Man Repeller says, it doesn’t really matter what others find attractive. It’s a much more happy pursuit to wear what feels and looks good to you, because that leads to confidence and what, pray tell, is more attractive than that?

Here's what you should take from all of this

Relief in the fact that you can wear a lighter makeup load if you want to and be just as alluring to others. Comfort that looking natural is valued even a midst the wild pursuit of "flawless" in the media.

But mostly, like anything in life, remember that you get to be the boss on what you do with your face and your wardrobe. Yours is the most important vote because frankly, we will probably always get it a little wrong and dwelling on your perceived attractiveness feels like an awful waste of time.

Why baby gates aren't as safe as you thought

Baby peeking over gate | Sheknows.com

If you think your baby gate is keeping your little one safe, you may have an unhappy surprise for both of you in your future. A recent study reveals an alarming statistic — baby gate-related injuries tripled from 1990 to 2010. What is to account for the massive increase, and how can you be sure your baby gate isn't a danger to your child?

Increase in baby gate-related injuries

Researchers gathered data from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System, which tracks juvenile injuries from a selection of hospitals. They found that the majority of kids with baby gate-related injuries were older than 2, and 61 percent were male. Bumps and bruises were the most common injuries reported, and 16 percent suffered head injuries, such as concussions. Most of these children were not admitted to the hospital.

How do these injuries occur?

They found that most of these injuries happened when the children pushed through the gates, and some of the gates had sharp edges that caused injuries. Also, some mishaps were the result of a pressure-mounted baby gate that was installed at the top of a flight of stairs, which is extremely dangerous.

Baby gate installation 101

Always make sure your baby gate is installed correctly by following the enclosed instructions. If you have a hand-me-down or secondhand gate, check to see if you can find installation instructions on the internet or phone the manufacturer (and don't forget to see if it's been the subject of a recall). It's very important to never install a pressure-mounted baby gate at the top of a flight of stairs. And if a gate is not closed properly or is mounted on a set of uneven walls (in a hallway, for example) it can be pushed through by a strong-willed toddler. Also, even though you have peace of mind when a gate is installed, you should always keep your child in sight, because some children are clever enough to climb them — and topple over once they've reached the top.

After dating for one year, Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid have called it quits on their relationship, claiming the constant distance between them has become too hard to handle.

The Australian singer, 17, and the emerging model, 19, have decided to break things off after realizing they are too much apart to make their romance work long-distance, Just Jared reported. "They've been on and off trying to make it work, but their schedules have made it quite difficult," a source told the site.

"They agreed that things were finally over on Thursday," the insider added.

Further confirming the news, Simpson's rep told E! News that he and Hadid are over. "Their busy schedules and living on opposite coasts have made it nearly impossible for the two of them to give the relationship the attention that it needs."

However, the couple has remained on friendly terms and hope to stay in each other's lives, in the hopes that time may "someday bring them back together." Meanwhile, the blond hunk and Sports Illustrated beauty will remain close friends and will continue to show their support for each other.

Who's hotter: Cody Simpson vs. James Maslow >>

Simpson will continue to work on his music, putting together another album in which he's had "artistic freedom," to make it his own this time around. "This next album feels like my first. feelin so new. this is MY album too," he Tweeted on Sunday.

The "Surfboard" crooner also recently completed his stint on Dancing With the Stars, where he made it halfway through the competition before getting eliminated in week five.

Making it their last official appearance as a couple, Simpson and Hadid attended the Radio Disney Music Awards in Los Angeles on April 8.

Annual Dirty Dozen list calls out fruits and veggies with the most pesticides

Which fruits and veggies have the highest concentration of pesticide residue? According to the Environmental Working Group’s latest rankings, the apple comes in first. But that does not mean you should skip out on all the nutritional benefits of this healthy staple. It just means you may need to give it an extra wash and dry. Or better yet, some dietitians say, buy the organic version.

The apple, along with 11 other fruits and veggies, was named to the group’s Dirty Dozen list, which changes every year. Apples are nothing new to the list, which can help you be more aware of the impacts associated with the produce you eat. Though dubbed "dirty,” many of the foods on this list are part of most clean eating regimens.

Dirty Dozen foods

This year’s Dirty Dozen includes:

  1. Apples
  2. Strawberries
  3. Grapes
  4. Celery
  5. Peaches
  6. Spinach
  7. Sweet bell peppers
  8. Nectarines (imported)
  9. Cucumbers
  10. Cherry tomatoes
  11. Snap peas (imported)
  12. Potatoes

"Apples, strawberries, grapes supposedly have thinner skins, which is why they have the most pesticide residue when we consume them,” noted Cassie Bjork, a Minnesota-based dietitian who runs Healthy Simple Life.

Clean Fifteen foods

On the flip side, the EWG named its Clean Fifteen for 2014, which are foods they found this year to have the least amount of pesticide residues.

Foods topping that list include:

  1. Avocados
  2. Sweet corn
  3. Pineapples
  4. Cabbage
  5. Frozen sweet peas
  6. Onions
  7. Asparagus
  8. Mangoes
  9. Papayas
  10. Kiwis
  11. Eggplant
  12. Grapefruit
  13. Cantaloupes
  14. Cauliflower
  15. Sweet potatoes

Preventing and eliminating pesticide residue

Sharon Palmer, a registered dietitian nutritionist from California, and author of The Plant-Powered Diet, said that growers use pesticides so foods do not incur damage from fungi and insects. Though some of those additives are deemed safe, many safety concerns still exist around them — especially when different pesticides show up together. Small doses can impact the brain and nervous system; and cause cancer, reproductive problems, birth defects, metabolic effects and immune disorders, she said.

Still want to nosh on a gala apple or enjoy a salad doused in cucumbers? Good news... you can (and should). Palmer recommends purchasing the organic version of fruits and veggies on the Dirty Dozen list.

Bjork believes it is most important to buy organic when buying fruits and veggies that involve eating the skin.

"So for apples, strawberries and grapes, I do think organic is better,” Bjork said. "My opinion is that it’s most important to buy organic meat and dairy, and then if your budget allows, organic produce is great, too.”

And if you can’t afford organic produce, make sure you do not avoid those foods. Just give them a good wash and pat them down to dry to remove excess dirt. It may not be totally "clean” eating, but you’ll be one step closer to it — and most importantly, you’ll be safer.

Megan Fox may be a big-time action star, but she is also a happy wife and mom with two beautiful sons. The star gave birth to her second son Bodhi just weeks ago, and shared photos with Ellen DeGeneres. She also shared that she became pregnant with him two weeks into filming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

"[It's] an action movie and requires a lot of running and jumping and stunts. Anyone that's been pregnant knows your first trimester can be pretty rough and you're nauseous all day long," Fox told DeGeneres, but added that there was an up side to the film too. "I was saying things like, 'Show me what you got, Shredder!' Stuff like that, so all the fun things you want to do when you're pregnant."

Fox and Green announced their pregnancy back in August of 2013. The 27-year-old also said she was snacking all day long during filming, and the morning sickness that comes with pregnancy was a problem for her on set.

"The producers would come see me in the morning in the makeup trailer and I would be clinging to a box of saltines," she said. "We kept pickles in the refrigerator for me and I was just constantly on the verge of vomiting."

Fox added that both her pregnancies — for 11-week-old son Bodhi Ransom and 19-month-old Noah Shannon — were both completely unplanned, and joked, "We can't let Brian near me anymore."

This necklace promises to rescue you from bad dates

Guardian Angel necklace

Just in case his meaning wasn't perfectly clear, he did a little smiley-face hip thrust. I'm not sure why I didn't turn around and go home right then but instead I whispered to my roommate that if she hadn't heard from me in one hour to call me and fake an emergency to get me out of there.

It turned out to be a necessary plan. When he took me to his place (to make me a "gourmet dinner" that turned out to be cream of chicken soup poured over instant rice) and the only furniture he had was a mattress on the floor, I knew I needed out. Fast.

If only I'd had a Guardian Angel. And by that I mean a cool little piece of jewelry designed by a new company to give us an easier way out of a date gone bad. The Guardian Angel is a sleek, normal-looking pendant that can be worn as a bracelet or necklace. When you push the button on it, it immediately sends a call to your phone allowing you an excuse to bolt.

But it's not just good for creepy dates. Having drinks with a colleague who can't stop talking about the project budget? Sitting in a cafe on the most boring OK Cupid meet-up ever? Caught next to a super chatty person on the bus? Press the button and end the misery.

The Guardian Angel works in more dire situations as well. Any woman who's had to walk home alone at night or tried to find her car in a secluded parking garage knows how scary it can be. So if you are feeling really threatened you can hold down the button for three seconds and the gadget will either call 911 or text a pre-programmed number with a plea for help and your location coordinates. (Yes, it's basically a posh version of the "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up!" lanyards.)

In a perfect world we'd be able to just speak up and say how we felt. (And I've gotten a lot better at that since college.) But sometimes you just need a quick out without having to explain too much. And sometimes when we try to tell someone they're bothering us it doesn't work. So if a panic button works, it certainly can't hurt to have one handy. Plus you get a cute piece of jewelry.

Scotty McCreery robbed at gunpoint in home invasion

It was a scary morning for Scotty McCreery after three armed men reportedly broke into an apartment in Raleigh, North Carolina, and robbed him and his friends.

Who made Billboard's list of the top 21 artists under 21? >>

The American Idol alum is a student at North Carolina State University, and was visiting friends when the robbery occurred. According to CMT, the men broke in and demanded their wallets, money and cell phones. Five people were reportedly at the apartment just before 2 a.m. when the men broke in, but authorities are not yet sure if the apartment was targeted or if it was a random break-in.

According to WRAL-TV, the men were forced to lie on the floor, facedown, with a gun to their heads while they were being robbed. Someone called 911 from the bedroom of the apartment just after the break-in.

"We got robbed," he told dispatchers. "They are all freaked out."

McCreery graduated from high school in Garner, North Carolina, in 2012, after winning Season 10 of American Idol. During that year, he also opened for Brad Paisley on tour and was the pitcher for his high school baseball team. That same year, he was also honored to be invited to perform for President Obama in Washington, D.C., and was excited to meet Diana Ross while he was there.

15 Reasons Scotty McCreery & Lauren Alaina should date, y'all >>

The 20-year-old continues to tour and make music while in school. He released his last album See You Tonight back in October 2013. His latest single, "Feelin' It," which was released only three weeks ago, is now at No. 42 on the Billboard country airplay chart.

Although Scotty McCreery is a big celebrity in many eyes, it looks like he is just trying to make his way as a college student in his home state.

Shailene Woodley's no feminist, she loves men too much!

Shailene Woodley admits she's not a feminist

Shailene Woodley is a rising star in the showbiz world, but she's not afraid to tackle controversial topics and share her views on feminism.

The Divergent actress may have played the role of the headstrong feminist character Tris Prior, but when it comes Woodley's real life, she is rather less impressed with the plight of feminists.

Why? Well, Woodley revealed her somewhat controversial views on feminism to Time magazine, explaining she doesn't consider herself a feminist because she loves men. But loving men is not her only motivation; it's equality that's really important to the 22-year-old star because she believes equality is the only way we can really move forward in the world.

Theo James explains how Divergent differs from other films >>

"I think the idea of 'raise women to power, take the men away from the power' is never going to work out because you need balance," Woodley explained to the publication.

"With myself, I'm very in touch with my masculine side. And I'm 50 percent feminine and 50 percent masculine, same as I think a lot of us are. Also I think that if men went down and women rose to power, that wouldn't work either. We have to have a fine balance," the actress added.

10 Awesome things to know before seeing Divergent >>

Over the past few months, there have been many actresses lending their voices to feminist causes and speaking out against sexism. However, Woodley's comments on not being a feminist should not detract from the fact that she has a deep respect for the female kind.

"My biggest thing is really sisterhood more than feminism," she explained. "I don't know how we as women expect men to respect us because we don't even seem to respect each other."

"There's so much jealousy, so much comparison and envy. And 'This girl did this to me and that girl did that to me.' And it's just so silly and heartbreaking in a way."

Which co-star did Shailene Woodley hook up with after filming? >>

Perhaps Woodley has a point? If women stop being so negative toward each other and instead praise and encourage one another, then could that be the key to overcoming all obstacles?

Aim and shoot

Martinis and minivans | Sheknows.com

My almost 3-year-old has a deep rooted fascination with his penis. He likes to touch it, move it around and especially use it to pee on random objects. While playing together in his older sister's room, I heard a scream as if someone was deathly injured. My daughter came running in from her room, screaming, "He's ruined it! He's ruined it!" as she started crying against my leg. I rolled my eyes, wondered what he had broken now, and walked with her back to her room. However, my mouth dropped open as soon as I saw what was happening. There, standing in the middle of the room, was my son, attempting to pee directly into the miniature potty of his sister's Barbie Dream House. And as many young boys, or even grown men do, he was missing. Missing and hitting Ariel and Belle directly in the face.

"I tried not to laugh, I really tried. However, the sight was just too much for this incredibly sarcastic mother to bear. And so, when I was done laughing and knew it was time to discipline my son, I turned to him and said, "Sweetie, why did you pee in Barbie's potty?" He looked at me, completely serious, and answered, "It was closer than the big potty. And look," he said, as he pushed on the button next to the toilet, "it even flushes. I remembered to flush this time."

After a warm bath we helped him along to sleep hoping it would resolve itself. The next morning his complaints began again and we only had to wait a little bit longer to know why. During his next diaper change we found a dime amidst everything else. It was oxidized, so had clearly gone through his little system. Somehow, the day before he had scarfed down a dime, unbeknownst to us. I felt awful — how could I have missed him eating a dime? Thankfully it passed through without any lasting damage. And yes, we still have that dime around somewhere to remind us that even our worst parenting moments can be looked back upon and laughed at."

Oh, no! Kim Kardashian flashes panties en route to Met Gala

Kim Kardashian may have redeemed herself with her outfit choice for this year's Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala, but she didn't have a completely flawless night.

All eyes were on Kardashian this year after her horrible outfit choice last year left her floral print gown designed by Riccardo Tisci being compared to Mrs. Doubtfire.

And while the reality TV star stunned in an ocean blue strapless Lanvin gown, she, unfortunately, was in a rush to get to the event, and according to E! News, she accidentally flashed her navy blue panties en route to the fashionable affair.

Forget Paris! There were wedding bells in California for Kimye >>

So why was Kardashian running late for the Met Gala? Apparently, she quickly popped into the Lanvin New York City store to be professionally fitted and get a few touch-ups. However, on the limo ride over, she changed her mind once again and decided to change her shoes and belt at the last minute, according to the Daily Mail.

The 33-year-old beauty chose to wear a gown with a very high slit, and it's easy to have an accidental wardrobe malfunction with these designs — at least Kardashian wasn't going commando a la Zoë Kravitz, though!

Love lessons we can all learn from Kimye (yes, we're going there) >>

And Kardashian was not the only member of her family to be spotted looking chic on the red carpet. Her younger sister Kendall Jenner also wowed in her white Topshop gown. We're glad Kardashian won't be making the worst dressed list this year!

An open letter to men who use the slow-fade breakup

Breakups blow. Even if it's only been a few short weeks or months. Which is exactly why I understand your tendency to take the easy way out, or as it's known in most circles (of hell): The Slow Fade.

It starts innocently enough. You start taking longer to respond in between texts. Then maybe you miss a few responses entirely. Next is breaking a plan or two, but always apologizing afterward (you don't want to date us anymore but you of course want to remain in our good will). And slowly but surely, the camera cuts to the girl on her third margarita saying to her friends, “I guess I just don't get what happened?”

I've hemmed and hawed about this throughout my dating life, once even telling a dude that if he stops wanting to see me while we're still casual, I'd rather him just stop calling than call to end things.

But after experiencing a few Slow Fades myself, and watching it happen to many of my girlfriends, I think the very least that you can do is to call a spade a spade. If you're too scared to call, just send a message. Even a carrier pigeon will do.

At least she won't have to endlessly wonder or create scenarios that drive her (and her close friends) nuts: “Maybe he lost his phone and he doesn't have my number anymore?” “There could have been a death in the family??” “He must've gotten back together with his ex.”

That's the part you don't see. The confusion, the frustration, the powerlessness. Because, Slow Faders, what you've robbed her of is her own input into the ending of your relationship. (Don't panic at the word "relationship." Even if it wasn't official or exclusive, when two people interact, it's still a relationship.)

Now her options are: Call you again, despite her friends' advice and her own gut intuition, only to get your voicemail and to stammer those dreaded questions that she already now knows the answer to. Or, accept the silence as the answer.

If it's only been a few dates, by all means, exercise your power to not ask her out again. But if it's been a long string of dates, and sleepovers and sober hangouts, you owe it to her and to yourself to be a man and end things properly.

For all of the crazies you've run into out there, there are at least twice as many nice, understanding women who will listen to you, be bummed, but ultimately express gratitude that you were upfront with them and courageous enough to do the right thing.

David Stanwell of Solo Artists prepped the lovely Dianna Agron for last night's Met Gala, and got so inspired by her dress of choice (a sparkly black Miu Miu) that he decided to make a major change to her existing locks: "Dianna's dress inspired me to cut about four inches off of the hair into a graduated bob." The look they were going for? 1920s Parisian flapper. We're pretty sure they succeeded.

How to decorate like a billionaire

$

0

Luxury home exterior

1

Stock up on animal print

The first rule of billionaire decorating is, of course, to make sure you have enough animal print to let the world know you are a billionaire.

2

It's all about the busts (of the marble variety)

The second rule of billionaire decorating is to throw as many marble busts into a room as humanly possible and then act casual about it. Like, "Oh yeah, that marble bust of myself. I totally forgot I commissioned that for $6 million."

3

Utilize the self-portrait

Self-portraits are a must, obviously. You can also never go wrong with a few pillows of your face in every room. Really anything that advertises your beauty and importance should be played up.

4

Keep the royalty theme consistent

As a billionaire, you are practically royalty. This means you can and should decorate with a regal theme, and if you don't have a throne in your home you're doing it wrong.

5

Monogram it all

Monogram your towels. Monogram your pillows. Monogram your silk toilet paper that you ship in from across the world. Whatever it is, make sure it has your initials (and possibly family crest) on it.

6

Use at least two chandeliers per room, no exceptions

Chandeliers are a good indicator of wealth and class, and, therefore, a good thing for your billionaire decor. Pepper your home with chandeliers, and then when people comment, say, "Why, thank you. You don't think 42 chandeliers was too many for this room, do you?"

7

Think classic (as in Greece and Rome)

Nothing screams money quite like ancient Greece and Rome. Make sure your home includes plenty of pillars and statues and a general feel that you might be at Hearst Castle or the Pantheon.

8

When in doubt, add more fur

Fur or faux fur should be so plentiful in your billionaire home that your guests can scarcely go one step without seeing it, walking on it or talking about it.

9

Don't forget the velvet

Velvet is the fabric of the elite, after all.

10

Play up the gold (24 karat)

The more gold the better. Throw 24-karat gold around like it's glitter from the dollar store and today is your birthday.

11

Make sure you have opulent ceilings

Every last inch of your billionaire home should be accounted for, and that includes your ceilings. Make them magnificent. Make them grand. Make them worthy of Queen Elizabeth II on her Coronation Day.

12

Sprinkle it with tassels

Tassels are a casual way to convey to someone you are a person of fortune and they are a person of good fortune to even be in your home.

13

When in doubt, go the extra mile

Billionaire decor, by definition, should be over the top, so don't be afraid to go that extra mile down the path of crazy furnishings (even if that mile is a life-size zebra or a bath fit for a king). After all, you're a billionaire. Why not?

Second Bryan Singer abuse accuser steps forward

X-Men director Bryan Singer and Broadway producer Gary Goddard have been hit with another lawsuit by an anonymous British man who claims he was sexually abused by the two entertainment heavyweights while he was still underage. The suit comes hot on the heels of other accusations by a now 31-year-old man who says he was abused by Singer in the '90s, when the alleged victim was just age 15.

Lena Dunham on Woody Allen: Look at evidence, not art >>

The suit says the man, named only as "John Doe No. 117," was first contacted via social media by Goddard when he was just 14 years old and was told by the producer that he could help jump-start the teenager's acting career, according to The Daily Beast. The conversation allegedly quickly escalated to the exchange of nude photos and webcam sessions in which Goddard was masturbating.

The suit also says Goddard and Singer made physical contact with John Doe when they traveled to London, England, for a Superman movie premiere, where they offered the minor drugs and alcohol and "started grabbing John Doe in a sexual manner." When the teenager resisted, Goddard allegedly left the room and returned with a "large, muscle-bound man" who began to hit the accuser. The suit also alleges that Singer removed his boxer shorts and attempted to anally penetrate the teen and asked him to sit on his chest and ejaculate when he was unable to complete intercourse.

The filings also say John Doe "only recently became cognizant that he has suffered psychological and emotional injuries, mental anguish, and loss of enjoyment of life as a result of the Defendants' sexual acts. Such injuries are severe, continuing, and permanent."

Michael Egan III, 31, recently came forward to accuse Singer of similar abuse. Egan claims Singer forcibly sodomized and raped him while he was between the ages of 15 and 17. His lawsuit claims he was lured in by the promise of multiple movie roles and put on a payroll with other teens who were made to attend parties where they were expected to have sexual contact with adult partygoers. The teenagers were allegedly drugged and sometimes raped if they did not comply.

Hollywood power player Woody Allen has faced similar accusations in the past but from his own adopted daughter Dylan Farrow. In his case, no formal charges were ever filed.

Singer's lawyer, Marty Singer (no relation to the director), has issued a statement claiming the accusations against the X-Men director are fabricated and that the new suit is a witch hunt led by attorney Jeff Herman, who filed the suit on behalf of Egan as well.

Goddard's lawyer, Alan Grodin, also issued a statement saying, "For now we will say that the claims are denied and Gary will vigorously defend."

Bryan Singer has publicly denied all allegations brought forth in the Egan lawsuit, and he has opted to not participate in the latest X-Men movie's promotional tour. "I do not want these fictitious claims to divert any attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past," he said.

Angelina Jolie not only has a love of kids (she has six!) but also a love of tattoos. Jolie is estimated to have at least 12 tattoos.

The tattoo on her left shoulder blade that looks like four vertical lines is actually a Buddhist Pali incantation and is written in Khmer, which is the language of Cambodia. It was reportedly done to help protect her and her adopted son, Maddox, from bad luck. It reads:

May your enemies run far away from you.

If you acquire riches, may they remain yours always.

Your beauty will be that of Apsara.

Wherever you may go, many will attend, serve and protect you, surrounding you on all sides.

On the back of her neck, she has the words "Know Your Rights" tattooed in a gothic letter print.

On her left arm, she used to have the name of her ex-husband, Billy Bob Thornton; however, she now has the geographical coordinates of the birthplaces of her six children, as well as a seventh line for the coordinates of Brad Pitt's birthplace in Oklahoma.

On her left arm she also has a quote from Tennessee Williams: "A prayer for the wild at heart, kept in cages," as well as Roman numerals.

"She has had the star tattoo for a few years," a source tells Us Weekly. "After she and Jim got married, she added two birds — one to each side of the star."

"She had wanted to do something new and different for a while," the source reveals. "In some ways, [the star tattoos] kind of symbolized their new life and love together. People consider Reese to be such an all-American sweetheart, so it is more unexpected for her to have ink. She loves it — and so does Jim."

We're always excited to see what the lovely Blake Lively will do with her hair and makeup at any red carpet event and last night, our anticipation was a bit higher than usual with the Met Gala. Lucky for us, Blake didn't disappoint. The actress hit the carpet with her best accessory (hubby Ryan Reynolds) in a metallic Gucci gown that hugged her curves in all the right places. To complement the gown, her hairstylist Rod Ortega of Solo Artists created what he described as a "modern day take on [a] Joan Crawford Victory Roll" hairstyle for Blake.

  1. Start your look with wet hair. Use the T3 Featherweight Luxe 2i Dryer and T3 Anti-Gravity 2.5-inch Barrel Brush to create texture and movement while blow drying your locks. These two products will also give your roots a nice boost.
  2. After you've dried your hair, start at the nape of the neck and curl locks with the T3 1.25-inch SinglePass Twirl Curling Iron. After curling, finger-roll each section into a pin curl. Expert tip: To avoid nasty tangles, start from the nape of the neck working up to the top.
  3. Once pin curls are set and cooled, flip your hair over and create deep waves by brushing with the T3 Paddle Brush. After doing so, flip the hair back up and brush from your part down to the roots.
  4. Now it's time to add a little spray. Hit locks with a light hold hairspray but keep your touch light so locks are still light and have movement.
  5. On the side where you deep parted your hair, take a small section of hair from the front and roll the hair around your finger, working toward the back and finishing up behind the ear. Secure this small section with bobby pins to create what Rod calls a "Joan Crawford-esque" Victory Roll on one side of your head.
  6. Finish the look off with a coating of light hold hairspray.

Pulled pork stuffed peppers

My family loves a good pulled pork recipe. Hours upon hours of cooking in a delicious rub and sauce to make it juicy and moist. Typically I would whip up a quick sandwich with this meat, but today I wanted to showcase another favorite of mine: poblano peppers packed to the brim with pulled pork, cheese and red onions. Everyone sees the typical cream cheese with bacon stuffed peppers, but this just elevated it to a whole new level.

Pulled pork stuffed peppers

Cheesy pulled pork stuffed pepper recipe

Yields 16

Ingredients:

  • 4 pounds pork loin roast
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 fluid ounces Dr Pepper
  • 8 poblano peppers, cut in half
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced red onion

Directions:

  1. Pat the pork loin with paper towels to remove some of the moisture.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the salt, pepper, paprika, brown sugar and garlic powder. Spread this mixture all over the pork loin.
  3. Place the pork loin in a slow cooker, and then pour the Dr Pepper around the pork loin. Cook on high for 6 hours, flipping the pork loin over after 3 hours.
  4. When the loin is done cooking, start to shred the meat using 2 forks. Let it soak in the liquid for an additional 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  6. Cut the poblano peppers in half, and remove the seeds. Fill each side of the pepper with pulled pork, and then top with cheese and red onions.
  7. Place in a large casserole dish. Fill the baking dish up with about 1/4 inch of water.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes.

Prince William and Prince Harry hit American soil for a friend's wedding over the weekend, but their trip was met with much less fanfare than previous visits.

William's last time in the States was an official visit with his then-new bride Kate Middleton, and Harry's involved… well, let's just say what happened in Vegas did not stay in Vegas. This time, Wills got the ordinary guy treatment and Harry managed to keep his pants on — barely.

The royal brothers crossed the pond for the wedding of longtime friend Guy Pelly, long considered a bad influence on the princes — he was accused of and denied supplying Harry with drugs back in the day — and are said to have received a stern warning from their granny Queen Elizabeth to show some restraint in their partying. Both complied admirably, but that didn't stop Wills from getting his Ferris Bueller on or a newly single Harry from busting a move on the dance floor Miley Cyrus-style.

"It was a great night, it was unbelievably wild," Jimmy Church, lead singer of the band playing the wedding reception, told The Daily Mail. "Prince William was in front of the stage moving to [the Isley Brothers' classic hit 'Shout'], and then all of a sudden it got to him and he got up on the stage and was singing and dancing. He was getting down and I was getting down.

"Harry was dancing with the ladies. There were just so many, he was surrounded," Church added. "There were so many packed in around him you couldn't tell if he was with one girl or 20 girls. You think of royalty as being stuffy, but they were loose. At the end when we finished Harry came up to the stage and asked if we would play another song, as he did not want the night to end. We ended up doing five encores."

Another witness reported seeing Harry twerking on the dance floor.

But when the party was over, both royals maintained their regular guy act and made their way home just like the rest of us would: economically. A Memphis reporter snapped this shot of William in coach on his way from Memphis to Dallas to catch his international flight back to London.

No word on how Harry got back to the U.K., but the brothers generally fly separately by royal decree for security's sake.
