The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

This Mother's Day, skip the generic card in favor of edible letter cookies made by her favorite munchkins.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

This cookie is simple enough for kids to make with just a little help from Dad or grandparents. This recipe makes up to four letter cookies, great for multiple children or to make a few backups or practice cookies.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Start by making the sugar cookie dough, and then pull out a ball about the size of a large pear.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thick between two sheets of parchment paper.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Lift off the top piece of paper, and use a pizza slicer to cut out a rectangle. Remove the extra pieces of dough, and transfer the bottom parchment paper (with the cookie) to a cookie sheet. Once the cookie is baked, let it cool before icing it.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

To ice your cookies, put about 1/4 cup of royal icing in a bag with a writing tip or with a corner snipped off to make a small hole. Outline the cookies with a border of icing.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Once you have all the cookies outlined, put the frosting in the bag back into the bowl. Mix in about a teaspoon of water at a time until it's the consistency of shower gel. This is your flood icing. Spoon some flood icing onto each cookie, and spread it evenly within the royal icing border.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Use a toothpick to pop any air bubbles. The icing will then fill them in.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Let the cookies dry for at least 4 hours or overnight. The icing should be quite firm and smooth.

The sweetest letter you'll ever receive

Once the icing has hardened completely, your child can use an edible marker to write their letter to Mom. The cookie letters will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to three days.

Sugar cookie letter recipe

Yields 4

Ingredients:

For the cookies

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

For the icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 egg white (use pasteurized eggs to prevent foodborne illness)
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Use a stand mixer to cream together the butter and powdered sugar.
  3. Mix in the vanilla and egg.
  4. Mix in the flour on low speed until the dough comes together.
  5. Roll 4 pear-size balls of dough between pieces of parchment paper, and then remove the top sheets of the parchment paper. Use a pizza slicer to cut the dough into rectangles about 6 x 4 inches in size.
  6. Place the rectangular cookies along with the bottom sheets of parchment paper onto on a cookie sheet. Bake for 7 to 10 minutes, until golden. Remove, and let them cool completely.
  7. To make the icing, mix together the powdered sugar and egg white. Beat on high speed until the icing forms stiff peaks.
  8. Place about 1/4 cup of icing into a pastry bag fitted with a #1 or #2 round decorating tip. You can also use a plastic bag with the very tip of a corner snipped off. Pipe a border along the edges of each cookie.
  9. Put the remaining icing from the bag back into your mixing bowl. Begin mixing in water, 1 teaspoon at a time, until your icing has the consistency of shower gel. Spoon the thinned icing onto the center of each cookie, and spread it toward the borders until the whole cookie is covered. Use a toothpick to pop any air bubbles.
  10. Let the icing harden for at least 4 hours or overnight. Have your child use an edible marker to write his or her letter on the hardened icing. Keep the cookies in an airtight container until ready to surprise Mom.

Babies cry so you won't have sex

Ah, those first few weeks at home with a newborn baby — so precious, yet so incredibly exhausting. New parents try to establish a bit of a routine with their little one, while moving around in a somewhat zombie-like state. While the pediatrician may tell you that those middle-of-the-night cries are from hunger, a Harvard researcher had an interesting theory that goes beyond a nighttime feeding and a diaper change.

Your baby is a libido killer

Harvard researcher David Haig is an evolutionary biologist with a different perspective on these late-night cries. What if babies are making their best attempts at exhausting their moms, which may in turn suppress ovulation and — as any tired parent can attest to — make her too tired for sex? Seems like an ingenious way to ensure that Baby won't have to share any of the available food and affection from coming from Mom.

"I'm just suggesting that offspring have evolved to use waking up mothers and suckling more intensely to delay the birth of another sibling," says Haig of his findings, which were published in the journal Evolution, Medicine and Public Health. Anyone who has lived through life with a baby in the house knows that sleep deprivation and sheer exhaustion don't do a thing for your sex life.

Survival of the fittest (and loudest)

There seems to be an evolutionary aspect to this theory. Back in the early days of man, babies who woke their parents often at night may have been more likely to survive and eventually have children of their own. In more modern times, such as during the Depression, children whose parents delayed having more children had more access to food and a better chance of survival. Could it be that this "survival of the fittest" instinct is surfacing in night-waking babies, rather than just a dirty diaper or an empty stomach?

But night waking in babies isn't just about feeding, it's also about the affection and the bond between mother and baby — which benefits the mother as well. Anthropologist Holly Dunsworth of the University of Rhode Island says that while Haig's theory is interesting, it isn't the only theory out there. "There are so many good juices running through infant and Mom," shares Dunsworth. "It's rewarding beyond the calories and hunger satiation for everyone involved. When you look at it from that perspective, waking up to feed looks more like cooperation than conflict," she adds.

Cave moms didn't work 9-5

Our sleep patterns changed over the (thousands of) years. When we lived as hunters and gatherers and slept in caves, our periods of sleep were shorter and more flexible. Katie Hinde, a Harvard evolutionary biologist, shared a response to Haig's hypothesis that was published in the same journal. "The expectation that mothers and infants 'should' have uninterrupted, consolidated sleep is, in many ways, a historical artifact," Hinde writes.

If your sex life feels like a historical artifact, don't feel too bad. Regardless of the cause of all those shrill cries, Baby will only rule your sleep cycles — and obliterate your sex drive — for a relatively short period of time.

VIDEO: Watch Nina Nesbitt perform acoustic version of "Stay Out"

At 19, singer Nina Nesbitt has already made a proper name for herself. With the release of her debut album earlier this year, the Scottish teen made her first stab at the charts and came away pretty successful. Peroxide peaked at the top spot in Scotland and came in at No. 11 on the U.K. charts. Now she's looking to leave her mark on America.

She stopped by our studio and was sweet enough to play us a stripped-down version of her single "Stay Out" and then stuck around to talk. From Ed Sheeran to her family background to the paparazzi, there was nothing sacred, and we got the bright young talent's input on everything.

INTERVIEW: Alli Simpson chats about her brother >>

Nesbitt has a rather interesting connection with Sheeran. She started out as a gymnast and teen model and actually found her way into Sheeran's video for the single "Drunk." She even landed a gig opening up on one of his tours. After traveling with our ginger obsession, we had to ask what she thought of Sheeran and her time with him. Nesbitt had nothing but kind words.

"It was an amazing experience," Nesbitt said. "It was really early on in my career so, yeah, a great opportunity and playing to lots of people every night. And obviously he's done really well as well, so he's inspiring."

After touring with Sheeran, who now has a small gaggle of paparazzi following him everywhere, we had to wonder if Nesbitt saw a bump in the attention being paid to her by paparazzi, too. Had she ever been hounded? Sadly, she had.

Hollywood's Humanitarians: Bella Thorne's message for teen girls >>

"[There were] a couple in the U.K., and once when I was on holiday, which was really weird because I didn't even say where I was," Nesbitt shared. "And I was lying on the sunbed, and I went onto Twitter and someone was like, 'Oh, my God! You're in the newspaper in your bikini.'"

How'd she react? Not happily, obviously! She thought she'd managed to shrug off the photographers and hadn't dressed to be caught on camera.

"I was like, 'Nooo!'" lamented Nesbitt. "I'd been going about with, obviously, no makeup on and hair just bundled atop my head and a mismatching bikini. It wasn't even a full bikini; it was like this weird top-thing and a pair of pants."

Of course, the fashion police weren't about to forgive the young singer for her supposedly private fashion faux pas. Nesbitt said everyone left really nasty messages commenting on her outfit. Poor girl! Even when on vacation celebs can't manage to let their guard down.

Named after its ability to catch animals that flee up trees and its original breeders, George Washington Maupin and John Walker of Tennessee, the Treeing Walker Coonhound is typically thought of as a smaller version of the Beagle. The breed makes an excellent hunter as it will not only chase its prey up the tree, but also howl until the hunter arrives. Fast and agile, this breed not only makes a good hunter, but a great companion.

Is this breed right for you?

A great family dog, the Treeing Walker Coonhound is an extremely affectionate breed and good with children of all ages. In need of numerous amounts of exercise, this breed is not recommended for apartment life and would do best with access to a yard and a swimming pool. Happiest in warm and sunny climates, the Treeing Walker Coonhound is a very active and hyper dog. With hunting instincts and a strong sniffer, it is known to be a loud howler and big drooler that gets along well with other pups.

treeing walker characteristics

A dream day-in-the-life

Waking up ready to play, it will greet every member of the family with a howl and a lick. Sniffing out breakfast, it will join the family for a meal. Afterward, it will head outside to sniff out the yard and go for a swim. Perhaps a bit of a walk and a hunt for small animals, it will come back for a tiny catnap. Playing and engaging in fun with the kiddos, it'll chase them around the yard until they rest. Back inside, it'll watch the house until you are home to take it on its daily walk. Once the sun is down, this pup will cuddle up with the family, while someone gives it a good rubdown.

Carrie Underwood has been enjoying success with her music career lately, and her husband Mike Fisher has revealed that when she's super focused he knows it's time to leave her to do her thing.

And with six Grammy wins already under her belt, it's not all that surprising that the blond beauty has been very focused on her work lately to produce her upcoming fifth studio album.

Carrie Underwood & Brad Paisley to host the 2013 CMA Awards >>

"She's actually real busy doing a lot of writing and stuff," Fisher told Us Weekly at the Time 100 Gala in New York City, New York, on Tuesday. "I've been just kind of hanging out, just kind of being home and enjoying that."

"I stay out of her way. I go golfing or go fishing or something," he said.

The "Good Girl" hit maker decided to shed some light on her creative process, too, and how respectful of the process her husband is.

"He stays away. That whole creative process is such a weird thing, and I've talked to other people in the music business and friends and what they do and we all kind of have our own 'isms."

So what does Underwood's routine include? A lot of coffee, that's what! "I go in and I'm like caffeinated. I get jacked up on caffeine and then I come home and crash," she joked.

"I've been writing quite a bit, it's exciting! It definitely has a different sound. There are some thematic things that are quite different. I love strong women. So I want things that I can get on stage and just feel empowered."

Fans are undoubtedly very excited to hear the 31-year-old singer's new work, but, on the other hand, her NFL player beau probably can't wait for her to finish up so they can spend a little more time together.

So what do the loved-up pair do when they're not working? Fisher revealed to the mag that they enjoy romantic dinners and alone time. Awww.

Grieving Bob Geldof finally proposes to girlfriend of 18 years

Bob Geldof is devastated by the loss of his daughter Peaches Geldof at the age of 25, but he also has decided to try and find a silver lining in his life and attempt to cheer the family up with an announcement — he's engaged!

In the wake of Peaches' tragic passing and news reports that suggest her death mirrored that of her mother Paula Yates, the Boomtown Rats singer has decided to try and focus on the good aspects of his life. Perhaps that is why he has finally decided to pop the question to his girlfriend of 18 years, French actress Jeanne Marine.

And his bride-to-be's friend, Jerry Hall, decided to spill the beans.

PHOTO: Peaches Geldof laid to rest in custom coffin >>

"Bob has proposed," Hall revealed to the Daily Mail. "She is over the moon. Jeanne Marine has been a rock and a tower of strength over this. I'm so excited for her I am bursting to tell someone."

"Bob and Jeanne have been through hell, but they are determined something positive will come out of it. After all the sadness, we need something to focus on which will bring joy and light," Hall said.

Peaches Geldof thinks her house is haunted >>

And while the death of his daughter will always haunt the 62-year-old hit maker, his fiancée has been supporting him throughout this trying time, and the loss of his daughter has obviously made him realize just how fragile and short life can be.

"I've just got back from Texas and accompanied Jeanne to the funeral. It was, of course, terribly sad, but she told me that Bob had asked her to marry him out of the blue," Hall told the publication. "I'm so happy for her. It makes you realize we all have to value what we have."

And the happy couple certainly appear to value each other. According to the Daily Mail, Marine previously gushed about her man saying, "I liked his elegance and his Irishness. Bob is exactly the kind of man I've always been waiting for. He's compassionate, charming, intelligent and, on top of that, good-looking. He's the most handsome man in the world and I adore him."

Celebs share their grief over Peaches Geldof's death >>

And the former wife of Mick Jagger was not the only one to share the sentiment. "Jeanne insisted on finding something lovable in this most unlovable of men. This creature at his most ugly, physically and spiritually. I was detestable," Bob confessed.

Congratulations to the happy couple on their long-awaited engagement.

Estelle on "Make Her Say": "I've never been that naked in a video"

This brave video features not only Estelle writhing on a bed, but also some very real people as they explore sexual empowerment. From blindfolds to mouthfuls of sticky sweet honey, many fantasies make their way into this hot new video.

Perhaps best known for her #1 song "American Boy" featuring Kanye West, Estelle is on a mission to reveal new aspects of herself. We wanted to know what it was like taking such a big risk.

VIDEO: Kanye West wants to up Kim's hobnobbing game >>

"I was nervous because I've never been that naked in a video before, or writhing on a bed or having a guy on me. It was strange and a little weird."

From our point of view, she seems to be having a great time. We asked her what it was like being somewhat intimate with a stranger during the shooting.

"Everyone was trying to be very professional. The actor was asking 'Where can I put my hands?' and I was like, 'Don't go too far, don't lose your mind,' all while I was singing. It was an exercise in being free and being in the moment. You can't walk into a situation like that say, 'No, don't touch me.' Luckily, I had worked a lot with the director before and really trusted him."

But Estelle wasn't the only person exposing herself in the video. They also used some non-actors that defy glam music video stereotypes.

"I want to applaud the other people in the video. A lot of them weren't actors, they were just regular people. Some of them had just met. They were into it!"

So why stray from the music video fantasy land, where everyone is conventionally beautiful? Estelle wants to cut through as much of the "bulls***" as she can.

With the hope of helping women feel comfortable in their own skin, Estelle has posted a natural, un-Photoshopped, makeup-free selfie on Instagram and is encouraging other women to do the same.

Check out Estelle's favorite selfies from the campaign >>

"In my experience, people want to see me in my most natural state. This is me and what I'm doing right now. It's also about celebrating women who don't put on a crapload of makeup to take a selfie. Some women don't have time for that. Some women are juggling multiple jobs, school and kids. This is real life and I wanted the video to speak to those women."

White, pink and purple roses that are perfect for your garden

What's in a name?

We tend to speak about roses in general terms, but in reality there are over 150 different species. Classified in the genus Rosa, the flowers come in many different shapes and colors, including red, pink, purple, yellow, orange and white. The delicate flowers are frequently fragrant. Prickly stems offer natural protection to this woodsy perennial (and are reasons to rock some cute gardening gloves to protect your mani).

War of the roses

Tackling roses can be intimidating for newbie gardeners. Roses have a reputation for being difficult to grow, and those who fall for growing the prickly beauties can develop a love for the hobby that borders on obsessive.

But roses don’t have to be difficult.

The trick is to pick the right rose bush for the right location. While it might be tempting to scoop up a gorgeous rose bush you spotted at your favorite home improvement store, the truth is, those plants might not be the best choice for your region. Do a little research in advance to avoid headaches later.

Pick your plant

Local nurseries should be able to tell you which species grows best in your climate and help you identify the most ideal location to plant your pretty blooms.

When it comes to planting roses, the old gardening adage of "dig a $50 hole for a $5 plant" most definitely applies.

White, pink and purple roses to try:

White roses

Iceberg

Iceberg

  • Category: Floribunda rose
  • Color: White blooms that fade to pink
  • Flower type: Medium bush (climbing form also available)
  • Fragrance: Light to medium

Introduced in 1958 by German rose breeder Reimer Kordes, Iceberg is one of the most popular types of roses. The bush flowers continuously from summer to fall, and the pure white flowers can sometimes turn a slight pink color late in the season.

White Dawn

White Dawn

  • Category: Climber
  • Color: White
  • Flower type: Showy shrub or climbing rose
  • Fragrance: Very fragrant
  • Bloom time: Midspring to frost

The pure white blooms contrast beautifully against the glossy dark green leaves of this hardy rose bush. The full white blooms are similar to those of gardenias and make a nice alternative to more traditional rose shapes. Since they continuously bloom, White Dawn roses are a good landscape choice.

Moondance

Moondance

  • Category: Floribunda rose
  • Color: Creamy white
  • Flower type: Upright
  • Fragrance: Subtle fruity scent
  • Bloom time: Early to late summer

Moondance is a larger rose plant, growing 5 feet high by 4 feet wide. The upright blooms on longer stems make it a great option for a cutting garden. Encourage reblooming by removing spent blooms throughout the season.

Pink roses

Sexy Rexy

Sexy Rexy

  • Category: Floribunda rose
  • Color: Pink
  • Flower type: Double, clustered
  • Fragrance: Lightly fragrant
  • Bloom time: Continual blooming summer to fall

Considered one of the most profusely blooming roses, Sexy Rexy originated in New Zealand and was introduced in 1984. It's considered tall for a floribunda and can be used as a shrub or hedge. Plus, the name is super fun to say.

Bonica

Bonica

  • Category: Landscape rose
  • Color: Soft candy pink
  • Flower type: Fully double blooms
  • Fragrance: Lightly fragrant
  • Bloom time: Continual blooming

Big clusters of candy-pink blooms cover this shrub rose, which turns to orange rose hips in the fall. The flowers are approximately 2-1/2 inches and the shrub grows to about 4 feet. This is a good option for hedges or mass planting.

Strawberry Hill

Strawberry Hill

  • Category: English rose
  • Color: Pure rose pink
  • Flower type: Double/full bloom
  • Fragrance: Fine myrrh fragrance
  • Bloom time: June-September

The Strawberry Hill rose was bred by British rosarian David Austin and named after Horace Walpole's Gothic castle outside of London. The informal structure of the bush, along with the slightly arching branches, makes it a good planting option for the back of a border.

Purple roses

Ebb Tide

Ebb Tide

  • Category: Floribunda rose
  • Color: Deep purple
  • Flower type: Double blooms with old-fashioned form
  • Fragrance: Spicy clove fragrance
  • Bloom time: June-September

The color and size of Ebb Tide roses vary greatly depending on temperature — a common trait for purple roses. The blooms are the largest and darkest shades of purple in cooler weather. Intense summer heat can sometimes turn the flower color to a lighter lavender shade, which still looks lovely.

Angel Face

  • Category: Floribunda rose
  • Color: Lavender
  • Flower type: Large and upright
  • Fragrance: Sweet citrus
  • Bloom time: Early summer-midfall

These lovely lavender blooms are especially large, averaging 3-1/2 inches. The plant grows upright and bushy, approximately 3 feet by 3 feet wide. The petals flare out slightly and can sometimes form a deeper purple color on the tip. This is an excellent cutting flower choice.

  • Color: Crimson to purple
  • Flower type: Double/full bloom
  • Fragrance: Traditional rose scent

This English rose was bred by David Austin and introduced in 2000. The color is described as a "velvety crimson changing to purple." The flower has a fragrant traditional rose scent. The shrub is highly disease resistant and great for producing repeat flowers.

Reports claim that Victoria Beckham declined Kim Kardashian's wedding gown commission

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding ceremony is becoming one of the most eagerly awaited and talked about events of the year. And while there are rumors that the couple plan to tie the knot this week and all eyes will be on Kardashian's wedding dress, the designer of the gown will not be Victoria Beckham.

VIDEO: Kim Kardashian Vogue sales: Record-breaking! >>

According to reports, the former Spice Girl star-turned-fashion-designer was approached by the reality TV star and asked if she would create her wedding gown. However, apparently, Mrs. Beckham was too busy and declined the request.

Hmmm, we're sure Kimye's nuptials will be a highly publicized affair and whoever creates the 33-year-old star's gown is sure to get a lot of attention. However, according to a source at the Daily Star newspaper via Contact Music, Beckham was not interested in dressing a reality TV star when she has the chance to dress royalty.

Jay Z and Beyoncé are blowing off Kimye's wedding >>

"Kim was desperate to wear a VB dress for her big day but Victoria deals with the very A-list of the showbiz world, including royals, and doesn't want to be dragged into the world of reality stars," the source claimed.

"She also doesn't really do wedding dresses."

The secretive ceremony is due to take place in France this week, and it is believed Kimye will be tying the knot in a lavish ceremony in Paris. Although, unlike most of Kardashian's life, she is completely intent on keeping her wedding day private, so we'll just have to wait and see what unfolds in the following days.

Placenta art prints

Wait a second, what? Yes, you read that correctly. Apparently the placenta is as versatile as a little black dress, because you can totally turn yours into wall art. According to Time Magazine, moms can hire placenta artists to join them post-delivery to create a body organ masterpiece. "The placenta prints are made by taking the placenta after birth and placing it, along with the umbilical cord, on acid-free paper. The result is a work of art that looks something like a tree," Time reports. A great alternative to placenta artwork is a poster print of an actual tree. Breast milk pendants

Slightly less horrifying, and yet equally unnecessary, is the ubiquitous breast milk pendant. Mommies can send a sample of breast milk to an artist — like MommyMilk — to have the milk plasticized into a small bead in the shape of a heart or baby feet. The bead is then set in resin and turned into a pendant. While the necklaces are actually kinda pretty, they're a guaranteed conversation stopper rather than starter. (MommyMilk, $80)

Belly casting

Belly casting | Sheknows.com

OK, in theory it seems like a decent idea for moms to preserve an image of their beautiful pregnant bodies. But for the love of practicality, what on earth would a new mom do with a sculpture of her giant belly and pregnancy boobs? Moms make belly casts, paint them and then hang them as artwork in the nursery or living room. Sounds like an awkward conversation when the in-laws come to visit. (Artistic Body Casting, $150 and up)

Sonogram wall art

Sonogram wall art | Sheknows.com

Baby sonograms are magical, no doubt about it. They give parents a rare glimpse at their unborn child, and many moms feel close to tears as they see their little one wiggling and sucking his or her thumb. The magic fades quite a bit, however, when the alien image of an unborn child is projected onto giant wall art. Sorry, guys, photos of unborn children that are imaged by radio frequency just don't make great pieces for framing. (Storenvy, $45)

Sex, drugs and twerking: 2014's most shocking videos so far

Nicki Minaj, "Lookin' A**"

Well, isn't this special? So many offenses, so little time to count them all. OK, we'll try. There's the indiscriminate application of the n-word, other harsh language, complaints of guys looking at Nicki Minaj's a** (while she writhes around in a fishnet stocking) and insulting racial stereotypes — all delivered in the first 53 seconds.

Enrique feat. Pitbull, "I'm a Freak"

Remember when Enrique used to be handsome, sexy and romantic, so we forgave him for his somewhat mediocre music? Well, ladies, we hope you're sitting down, because those days are over. In "I'm a Freak," Enrique's face is way too close to girls' butts and he just comes off as another smelly guy in the club looking to hit it and quit it. Gross. "Baby come and give it to me?" No. We don't think so. We want our hero back.

We GIFed sexy video moves, and the result is hilarious >>

Beyoncé, "Partition"

Oh no Mrs. Carter's man did not ignore her while he read the morning paper! Beyoncé's "Partition" gave us a little snapshot into her and hubby Jay Z's sex life. Now we know that this power couple likes to get fah-reaky in the limo on the way to the club, what Bey's a** looks like and how Beyoncé is not afraid to work a pole. Lovely. Many viewed this voyeuristic video as Beyoncé's desperate attempt to compete with the shocking ploys of pop princesses like Miley Cyrus and Rihanna.

Beyoncé vs. P!nk: How to do a music video if you're a mom >>

Kylie Minogue, "Sexercize"

Most of these videos are shocking because the line between appropriate and inappropriate is seriously blurred, but Kylie Minogue's "Sexercize" is just shockingly bad. A few seconds into this video, when the stability balls make their first appearance, you wonder if you've stumbled onto a parody video. A pommel horse in red pumps? Who does that? We're sure Minogue thought she hit a bull's-eye when it comes to sexy videos, but all she did was make us think we were watching a bad '80s music video.

GIFs: Kylie Minogue's new vid proves sex is a good workout >>

Billy Ray Cyrus, "Achy Breaky 2"

Billy Ray Cyrus can't get it through his head that "Achy Breaky Heart" was a bad idea the first time around, and it's a shockingly bad idea to remake it. This go-round, Cyrus throws in a side of Buck 22 who sings, "It happened ‘cause I'm sippin' on that good Kentucky whiskey." How much whiskey, exactly? Way to embarrass the makers of Kentucky whiskey with this Achy Breaky flop. There's fake guitar playing, a reference to Cyrus' daughter Miley while half-naked women twerk in the background and a heaping dose of Billy Ray acting so much cooler than he really is. We're sure this has gone down in the annals of music history as "How to never, ever make a music video, no matter how much Kentucky whiskey you have chugged."

GIFs: Why Billy Ray Cyrus' new video is ruining Miley Cyrus' life >>

Estelle, "Make Her Say (Beat It Up)"

Estelle's "Make Her Say (Beat It Up)" starts out as an interesting look into loving couples from all corners, in all shapes and sizes. And then — bam! — the wheels come off the bus in a way that leaves nothing but a pile of scattered, charring metal. We're sitting here minding our own business, listening to these nice folks' stories, and then we're in the bedroom with them. There's beard abuse, blindfolds and honey and a seemingly out-of-place toothpick.

Inappropriate Instagram

Miley Cyrus: We would never call a celebrity a social media whore (out loud), but some celebrities, who shall remain nameless, have a reputation for abusing Instagram. Now, back to the topic of Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber: In March, when Cyrus' Bangerz tour was in full swing, she was lighting up Instagram with images of her on the stage that were mostly tongue and a**. They were just, what's the word? Oh, yeah — disgusting.

Justin Bieber: The Biebs, who refuses to take a history class, posed in front of the Yasukuni Shrine and posted the image on Instagram with the quote, "Thank you for your blessings." Evidently, Bieber (and those in his entourage) didn't know that controversial landmark honors the memory of Japan's war dead during World War II, including former imperial army leaders who committed unspeakable acts of violence across the Pacific and Asia. After the backlash, Beiber took the photo down and apologized.

Canceled performances

Miley Cyrus: During her Bangerz tour, Cyrus had to cancel several dates mid-April when she suffered an "allergic reaction to antibiotics." (Yes, we were born yesterday, and we do believe that a celebrity who publicly sings and brags about doing drugs suffered an allergic reaction to an over-the-counter drug which left her hospitalized.)

Justin Bieber: JB hasn't skipped any performances, but he did opt out of a court appearance on April 14, leaving his attorney to represent him so he could attend a surprise performance at Coachella. It's nice to see a young man who has his priorities straight.

Arrests

Miley Cyrus: Obsessed Cyrus fan, Tucker Salvesen, snuck into Cyrus' dressing room in early March and posted pictures of it on Twitter. (If Salvesen represents the level of intelligence of Cyrus' followers, suddenly her enormous fan base makes sense.) So, while Cyrus hasn't been arrested in 2014, one of her creepy stalkers has.

Justin Bieber: Bieber kicked off 2014 with a DUI arrest in Miami. He pleaded not guilty, even though toxicology reports revealed he was trippin' on pot and Xanax. Right, because that kind of incriminating evidence only affects other people.

Celebrity haters

Miley Cyrus: Here is where things get really fun. It seems that average Joes aren't the only ones annoyed by the attention-getting stunts of these two. Both of these I-do-what-I-want celebs have their share of celebrity haters. On April 5, at the Women in the World Summit, Rashida Jones backed up her criticism of Miley Cyrus by asking pop tarts to put their lady bits away. Katy Perry also has no love for Cyrus. When the Bangerz singer tried to play tongue hockey with her, Perry wasn't interested. The "Dark Horse" diva said, "That tongue is infamous, I don't know where it's been." Preach, sister.

Justin Bieber: This is one category where Bieber may inch out ahead. Jon Hamm told BuzzFeed in April that Bieber has no life skills and referred to Bieber as a "s***head" in his rant. Seth Rogen joined the "I Hate Bieber" club in March when he told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, "Justin Bieber is a piece of s***. He's obnoxious, he's ungrateful, he's insincere."

Relationships

Miley Cyrus: In February, rumors swirled that Jared Leto and Cyrus were "hooking up." About the same time, Cyrus openly flirted with Olympian, Gus Kenworthy, when he posted pictures of puppies he was adopting from Russia. In early April, an excerpt from Cyrus' interview with Elle's "Women in Music" issue surfaced, revealing that Cyrus was fine with being single. Later that same month, rumors spread that Cyrus had hooked up with Bieber's dad, Jeremy Bieber. Does that make Cyrus a senior Belieber?

Justin Bieber: We haven't heard much about Chantel Jeffries, the gal pal who was with Bieber when he got arrested in January. We did, however, spend much of March and April hearing about Bieber and his former love, Selena Gomez, hanging out together. In late April, Gomez took the dramatic step of unfollowing Bieber on Instagram. You read that correctly, folks. The gloves are off. You just don't come back from something like that.

Protect your family from baby monitor hackers

Baby sleeping | Sheknows.com

Parents of a 10-month-old baby were alarmed when they heard a strange man's voice in their baby's bedroom, shouting at her to wake up. Was it an intruder? Yes, but not of the sort you might imagine. He had invaded the bedroom via their internet-enabled baby monitor.

"Wake up, baby!"

Adam and Heather Schreck, a couple from Ohio, were sleeping when they heard a strange voice hollering at their baby girl to wake up. They then discovered that the monitor was moving on its own, which was shocking as they were not the ones using it. They were understandably upset and quite distressed (although I imagine that they were relieved when they discovered that there wasn't actually a strange man physically present in the girl's bedroom).

The baby monitor in question is from Foscam, and these devices are pretty nifty — they allow parents and caregivers to view their child using an internet-capable cell phone, computer or tablet. According to the company, if the firmware on the product isn't updated on a regular basis, it can become prone to hackers, which is what happened to the Schrecks. A similar incident last fall happened to a family using the same type of baby monitor, and in that instance, the verbal intruder shouted out the girl's name, which he read from letters place on her wall.

Hacking baby monitors

A company spokesperson tells NBC that getting hacked isn't unique to Foscam and their internet-capable baby monitors, however. Any internet-connected device is vulnerable, particularly if firmware isn't kept up-to-date and the default passwords are not changed.

You don't want intruders in your house, ever, even if they're only accessing your home via a baby monitor. And really, that's not an "if only" that we should ever accept. What if Mom or Dad had wandered into Baby's room half dressed? And do you really want to think about some stranger viewing your baby's diaper change, or getting dressed after a bath? Definitely not. So taking care to make sure your device is as inaccessible to hackers as possible is the first thing you should do.

James Franco denies sex with "delusional" Lindsay Lohan

James Franco wants the world to hear his message loud and clear: He really, really did not sleep with Lindsay Lohan.

James Franco slams critic after review: "Such a little b****" >>

In fact, it seems the thought of sleeping with Lohan revolts the 36-year-old actor so much that he has taken every opportunity he can to denounce the Mean Girls star's sex claims after an alleged copy of her list of past lovers was found at her Beverly Hills Hotel in January.

During his appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Wednesday, the actor once again defended his innocence. "I will swear on anything you ask that I have never had sex with Lindsay Lohan," he told Stern.

"I bet you if we brought her in here and you asked her to her face, 'Did you have sex with James?' She would say yes. She's that..."

"Delusional?" the host offered.

Lindsay Lohan says Jennifer Lawrence trades sex for roles >>

"Or doesn't remember?" Franco said. "Alright, we maybe kissed. It was lame. I can't believe she put me on that private list! She's so delusional!"

"When we made out, it was so long ago. I was, like, a nice guy," he claimed.

And the troubled starlet clearly thought something of that kiss because the Oz: The Great and Powerful actor recalled their past interactions, saying, "We were at this hotel during a very dark period of her history... and it seemed pretty damn clear that she liked me."

"I'd come home late to the hotel and she'd come find me. She even broke into my room one time... I opened my eyes, and there's Lindsay in my room at 3 a.m.," he added.

Franco insists, however, that nothing happened and that he never took advantage of the situation. "It sounds so nerdy, but I read her a story," he confessed. "I will swear on my mother's life that I never had sex with her."

Sophia Bush appeared on the Today show on Thursday morning with one powerful message: Embrace your body. During her appearance for the morning show, the Chicago P.D. actress spoke about her favorite charity, I Am That Girl, and proudly confessed that she definitely doesn't wake up looking flawless.

"I've spent so much time talking to women about, 'Hey, I may be on TV, and I may be photographed for magazines, but I don't think I'm perfect. I don't wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and go, 'Hey, I'm amazing!' That's not how it is," the 31-year-old starlet confessed to Matt Lauer during the interview. "I'm a woman, and it's a struggle for all of us."

Sophia Bush's boyfriend on Everest during deadly avalanche >>

Bush told Lauer that it took her up until now to finally embrace her body and own it for herself. Not only did she declare she has a curvy shape, Bush candidly said, "I'm not some rail-thin, 6-foot-tall runway model who was just born that way. I was born like this."

Bush has advocated for women in the past, but her statement on the Today show clearly resonated well with viewers and took her name to Google's trending page.

She may have taken on a proud and confident stance in her own personal image, but she's also taken on a strong role in her professional life. Bush currently plays a stern detective named Erin Lindsay in NBC's Chicago P.D., which will crossover with fellow TV drama Chicago Fire in the conclusion of a traumatic two-part episode tonight.

Sophia Bush tapped to host the 2013 Do Something Awards >>

As for her character, Bush says the show is getting into a phase where viewers will be able to get a better grasp of Lindsay. "We're getting into Lindsay's past, and you see some interesting things this week, and the next two weeks' episodes will reveal a lot."

Prince Harry parties in Miami after split from Cressida Bonas

Prince Harry may just have ended his long-term relationship with Cressida Bonas, but that didn't stop him from hitting the party scene in Miami just before heading to Tennessee for his pal Guy Pelly's wedding.

Along with a group of Pelly's closest friends, Prince Harry arrived in Miami, Florida, on Wednesday, April 30, to throw the groom a fun bachelor party. The group of 13 friends hit up the hotspot dining venue Hakkasan, where they ate a feast of dishes including duck salad, Bahamian lobster and charcoal silver cod. The friends stayed until closing time drinking cocktails and tea.

5 Reasons Prince Harry & Cressida Bonas are over >>

According to Miami Herald reporter Lesley Abravanel, Harry and company acted very "civilized" as they sat around and "happily chatted" with each other, E! News reported. "This was no bachelor party." Abravanel added that they were "definitely more Palm Beach than Miami Beach," in their behavior.

"Had you not known there was a member of the British royal family sitting there with his back to the opening," she said, "You'd have thought it was possibly a convention of accountants or something similarly staid."

After eating and chatting, the bachelors headed for Fontainebleau's LIV, where they partied for the rest of the night. Harry was spotted having a blast in a private skybox, although he did not do anything too outrageous or wild this time around. The prince's security team still made sure no one took any photos, however, giving the redheaded 29-year-old his much-needed privacy.

Prince Harry builds the best toilets, reveals Dominic West >>

On Friday, Harry and his group will leave Miami for Memphis, where they will attend Pelly's rehearsal dinner with his bride-to-be, Holiday Inn heiress Lizzy Wilson. E! News reported that Harry may fly in a little early so he can take in some of the state's famous sites, including Graceland.

Incidentally, Harry's brother William will also be at the wedding on Saturday, and the pair will be having a "brothers catch-up thing out of it," Us Weekly claimed. The younger prince was originally slated to attend the wedding with Bonas, but plans quickly changed after his breakup from the famous socialite.
