Battle of the duos: Jonah Hill & Channing Tatum vs. Jonah & Leonardo DiCaprio

Partners in crime

21 Jump Street

On 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum are technically partners in crime fighting. Which, for them, involves liberal amounts of inappropriate sexual innuendo and air-humping perps.

The Wolf of Wall Street

As Donnie Azoff on The Wolf of Wall Street, Hill and pal Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio, of course) can find trouble quicker than they can pop quaaludes. And, interestingly enough, their special breed of trouble also includes air humping.

Making the best of a bad situation

21 Jump Street

Stabbed in the back during a house party brawl? Totally no big deal when you've got your bestie Channing Tatum by your side. That's what you call instant street cred, suckas.

Marrying his cousin

GIF via Fresh Movie Trailers

Sure, getting stabbed in the back kind of blows. Then again, at least in 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill didn't marry (and procreate with) his cousin. Still, he and BFF DiCaprio found a way to find humor in the incestuous situation. What are friends for, after all?

Having each other's backs

21 Jump Street

GIF via Clevver Movies

When we say Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill would do anything for each other, we mean it. When their characters are forced by the local high school drug lord to take a hit of something sketchy, the boys "finger" each other's mouths to induce vomit. I don't know about you, but I'm not sure I love my friends that much.

The Wolf of Wall Street

There are moments in life when you truly need your best pal by your side. Like your wedding. Or the day your childhood pet dies. Or, you know, when you're tripping on 'ludes and choking on a ham roll.

Shared interest in extracurriculars

21 Jump Street

GIF via Clevver Movies

Hill and Tatum's characters didn't actually intend to take drugs in 21 Jump Street, but at least they shared the experience of air-licking the gym teacher's hallucinated ice cream cone head when they were forced to try some of their stash. Now there's a story to tell the kids one day.

The Wolf of Wall Street

GIF via jabop versiontwo

To show his gratitude to DiCaprio's character in The Wolf of Wall Street, Hill's character gives him a crack pipe. To show his gratitude to Hill's character for gifting him the crack pipe, DiCaprio's character agrees to take "one hit." Who needs enemies when you've got friends like these?

Better together

22 Jump Street

GIF via JoBlo Movie Trailers

Sure, these two undercover cops/best buds have their ups and downs, but as Tatum points out in the new 22 Jump Street trailer, they're "like a power couple" — to which Hill responds,"We're like Rihanna and Chris Brown... you're a really good dancer, and sometimes you're meaner than I'd like you to be."

The Wolf of Wall Street

GIF via Fresh Movie Trailers

From the moment Hill's character boldly approaches DiCaprio's character, asks how much money he makes and subsequently quits his job on the spot, these guys proved to be a seriously dynamic (often volatile, mostly entitled, extremely unethical) duo.

5 Comedians who got their start at Upright Citizens Brigade

There's a common thread between some of the funniest people in comedy today: They all were performers with the Upright Citizens Brigade. Here are five of our favorites.

Friends in funny places

Lennon Parham

A former French teacher, Parham cut her comedy chops in the Upright Citizens Brigade before nabbing a supporting role in the TV series Accidentally on Purpose. She and fellow UCB player Jessica St. Clair starred in the NBC series Best Friends Forever before creating their new USA show Playing House, in which they play — you guessed it — best friends forever.

Jessica St. Clair

A regular on VH1's Best Week Ever, St. Clair is a member of UCB's New York and Los Angeles casts in between various TV and movie roles in projects like It's Complicated, Bridesmaids, Life As We Know It, The Dictator and Best Friends Forever. She co-created her latest project, the USA series Playing House, with BFF Lennon Parham.

Horatio Sanz

Chilean-born Sanz honed his comedy skills in theaters around Chicago, including the legendary Second City, before becoming a founding member of the Upright Citizens Brigade. After joining the cast of Saturday Night Live in 1998, he sat in for Tina Fey with fellow UCB alum Amy Poehler at the Weekend Update anchor desk and did wicked Gene Shalit impressions in the Jimmy Fallon days.

Amy Poehler

Arguably the most famous of the bunch, Golden Globe winner Poehler helped found the New York-based UCB group and quickly scored a TV gig. The very funny lady joined the cast of Saturday Night Live in 2001 and was promoted to co-anchor of Weekend Update alongside Baby Mama co-star Tina Fey in 2004. After leaving SNL, Poehler went on to star in her own hit series, the Emmy-nominated Parks and Recreation, with fellow UCB alum Aziz Ansari. Watch the pair discuss their characters.

Aziz Ansari

Along with Poehler, Ansari is one of the most recognizable alums of UCB. This NYU grad was the first cast hire for Parks and Recreation, and he also landed key roles in Flight of the Conchords, Scrubs, Get Him to the Greek, 30 Minutes or Less and I Love You, Man. Ansari is still active on the standup circuit and his material, including the book he's currently writing, focuses on his personal experiences — like this bit about an R. Kelly concert.

1

They both started out as cast members of the renowned improv group Upright Citizens Brigade, where they sharpened their comedy skills and gathered the material for their joint projects.

2

USA's new show Playing House is not the first time the pair has played BFFs. They starred in an NBC sitcom in 2012 titled, you guessed it, Best Friends Forever.

3

If St. Clair looks familiar but you didn't catch Best Friends Forever, you might recognize her from the oddly addictive VH1 series Best Week Ever, where she provided sharp commentary on topics like beauty queen blackmail and irritatingly unanswered questions from Lost.

4

Parham wasn't always livin' the dream on stage. She started out as a high school French teacher in Mississippi through the Teach For America program.

5

These BFFs do everything together, including having kids: They both have daughters born in 2013. Now art is really imitating life!

6

Their hubbies are both in the biz too. St. Clair is married to playwright Dan O'Brien, who penned Edward M. Kennedy Prize for Drama–winning play The Body of an American, and Parham is married to fellow comedian Javier Guzman.

7

They've both done tons of TV work. St. Clair had had roles in hit shows like United States of Tara, Weeds, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office and Veep, while Parham can be spotted in episodes of How I Met Your Mother, Mad Men and Arrested Development. Both had roles on Parks and Recreation alongside fellow Upright Citizens Brigade players Amy Poehler and Aziz Ansari.

8

The duo don't just act in Playing House. They created the concept and executive produce alongside Scot Armstrong and Ravi Nandan.

9

Playing House costar Zach Woods was no stranger to Parham and St. Clair before being considered for the role. The Office actor was also a regular performer at UCB.

10

Parham and St. Clair scored a major coup by landing one particular cast member. Seven-time Emmy and three-time Golden Globe nominee Jane Kaczmarek of Malcolm in the Middle fame will play St. Clair's extremely opinionated mother on the upcoming comedy.

MTV Movie Awards will be fiery, naked, apocalyptic display

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards and host Conan O'Brien certainly have major ratings competition this Sunday in the form of Mad Men's sixth and final season premiere and a brand new episode of HBO's Game of Thrones. But O'Brien isn't sweating it because he says his show will blow the others out of the water, according to The Washington Post.

2014 MTV Movie Awards will pay tribute to Paul Walker >>

"Game of Thrones is a complete waste of everyone's time. The dragons attack everyone and eat their face on Sunday night. That's what happens, so don't even bother watching," O'Brien said while taking a break from rehearsing for the awards show. "Mad Men? Yawn. OK. Somebody had too much to drink and slept with somebody. Whatevs, OK? MTV Movie Awards, that's the show to watch." Burn! After that comment, it's doubtful Mad Men's Jon Hamm will be willing to act as O'Brien's Secret Santa gift to a Conan staffer this year, as he has before.

Instead of dragons and boozy ad execs, the late-night talk show funnyman promises flames, and he's not talking about his luscious red locks. The show will feature tons of special effects on the apocalyptic-themed stage, says the Conan host.

"It's the most flames I've ever been around in my life," he said. "I've been working in show business for a long time, and every single part of the set explodes into flames at one point during the show." Apparently there will be a 5,000-pound box of fake movie popcorn ablaze as well.

And the nudity O'Brien is promising? Buckle up, because he's talking about himself. "I've been preparing for this job for years," he said. "I knew I'd be doing the 2014 MTV Movie Awards, so I've been doing a series of isometrics, underwater exercises, Pilates and Greco-Roman wrestling, which had no benefit to my body, but I strangely enjoyed it. My body is in incredible shape, and you might be seeing some of that on the show." This will be everyone's chance to see if Chelsea Handler wasn't joking about her recent ringing endorsement of O'Brien's hot bod.

Flames. Apocalyptic stage. Naked bodies. Are we talking about the MTV Movie Awards or Burning Man?

The 2014 MTV Movie Awards are live Sunday night at 9/8c.

Hilarious lines from the first episode

We previewed the first episode of Playing House and we are hooked. Successful businesswoman Emma (Jessica St. Clair) takes a few days off to return to her hometown and visit Maggie (Lennon Parham), her pregnant best friend. At the baby shower, Maggie discovers that her husband, Bruce, is in love with MunichMuncher69, a German woman he met online. Emma quits her prestigious job in China and plans to move in with Maggie to help her raise the baby.

  • Maggie putting a baby crib together at 3 a.m.:
"I just want this baby girl to know that her mama's not afraid to pick up a drill and get down."
  • Bestie love on the phone:
Maggie: "I'm gonna hug you so hard, it's gonna hurt."
Emma: "I'm gonna squeeze you so hard, that baby’s gonna come out of you."
  • Emma complimenting the perks of Maggie's pregnancy:
"I will tell you what's huge, and that's these mammergammers. They go all night. They're like the boobs of our dreams. May I feel them?"
  • Emma to Maggie after an awkward encounter with her ex:
"I just tipped an invisible hat to the man I lost my virginity to, so you should drive me on home."
  • Maggie explaining Bruce's fetish to Emma:
Maggie: "Well, apparently there is a whole online group of women who specialize in putting things up their butts."
Emma: "And are they all German?"
Maggie: "Well, they aren't all German, but I think he prefers Germans. You know, because of their husky nature."
  • Bruce asking Emma about Chinese sauces:
Bruce: "Be honest with me. Do those sauces take your butt by storm?"
Emma: "No, can I just say they actually did take my butt by storm? I didn't have the words. I didn't have that phrase, but that's what was happening."
  • Emma to Maggie's brother Zach as he is decorating for the baby shower:
Emma: "If you hadn't sexually harassed me all through high school, I would assume you were a stone-cold gay man."
Zach: "I'm gonna take that as a compliment."
  • Bruce's mom hosting a game at the baby shower:
"In front of you, you'll see diapers loaded with melted chocolate simulating poop. You can sniff it, you can lick it — just scream out what kind of chocolate it is. Everybody ready? Start sniffin'!"
  • Maggie catches Bruce video-chatting with MunichMuncher69:
Maggie: "You have a boner! Right now! A big boner!"
Bruce: "If at best, it's a semi! I don't have a boner right now!"

Bacon, egg & cheese quesadilla with avocado hollandaise sauce

Bacon egg and cheese quesadilla stacks with avocado hollandaise sauce

The art of the bacon, egg and cheese is nothing to scoff at. Not enough egg, and you're hungry in an hour. Not enough cheese, and too much egg taste comes through. Bacon has to be drained; otherwise the grease just drips into your lap as you eat it. And my personal pet peeve: a roll too big, and it just feels like a carb fest with hardly any filling. These quesadilla stacks take care of all that, though. A crispy, thin bread layer filled with the perfect cheese, egg and bacon combination, and to top it off, a deliciously creamy avocado hollandaise sauce. You're not going to find that at any deli or drive-through.

Bacon, egg and cheese quesadilla stacks with avocado hollandaise sauce recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 4 slices cheese (Swiss, American or cheddar)
  • 2 flour tortillas
  • 1/2 a ripe avocado
  • Juice of 1/2 a small lemon
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • Salt and pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove the bacon to a paper towel to drain, and wipe most of the grease out of the pan with a paper towel, leaving just a little behind to cook the eggs.
  2. In a bowl, beat together the eggs and milk.
  3. Add the eggs to the pan, and scramble them with a spatula until cooked through. Transfer the eggs to a plate, and set it aside.
  4. Lay one tortilla in the pan, and place a slice of cheese on one side of the tortilla. Place half the scrambled eggs and bacon on top of the cheese, and top with another slice of cheese. Fold the tortilla in half, and press down on it with a spatula, cooking each side for 2 to 3 minutes until the cheese starts to melt and the tortilla browns and crisps on the edges. Repeat with the other tortilla and the remaining ingredients.
  5. Cut into wedges.
  6. To make the avocado hollandaise sauce, combine the avocado, lemon juice and water in a blender. Blend until smooth (about 1 to 2 minutes). Drizzle in the olive oil, and continue blending for another 30 seconds. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Spoon some avocado hollandaise on top of the quesadilla wedges, and then serve.

Sunday dinner: Asparagus and bacon-topped flatbread

Asparagus and bacon flatbread

We can all agree that pizza is always a satisfying meal, but this Sunday dinner recipe for asparagus and bacon flatbread will make you eager to try something slightly different.

Flatbread comes in a variety of shapes and sizes, from cracker thin to practically pizza. It has a rustic, free-form shape and can be grilled instead of baked. If you can't decide if you like your pizza crust chewy or crunchy, you might find this flatbread recipe to be just what you're looking for.

Asparagus and bacon flatbread

I baked this dough on baking sheets to start, then finished things up directly on the oven rack. I topped these bread-like delights with a bit of sauce, asparagus, bacon and, of course, cheese. I recommend you find a way to fit flatbread into your mealtime.

Asparagus and bacon-topped homemade flatbread recipe

Serves 2-4

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups unbleached flour, plus extra for dusting your work surface
  • 1 packet (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons olive oil, plus extra to brush over dough
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked crisp, then crumbled
  • 10 ounces asparagus, trimmed, cut into 2-inch pieces and blanched in boiling water for about 2 minutes
  • 1/2 cup prepared pizza sauce, divided
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, divided
  • 2 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, divided
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Directions:

  1. Add the yeast to a bowl, then add in 1/4 cup of warm water and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Whisk to combine. Allow the mixture to sit for about 10 minutes. It should be a little frothy when it's ready.
  2. Meanwhile, to a large bowl, add the flour, salt, sage and sugar. Sift to combine, and then make a well in the center of the mixture.
  3. Add the yeast mixture and 3/4 cup of warm water to the flour. First use a wooden spoon to stir the mixture to combine it, then use your hands to continue to mix the ingredients together until it is formed into dough.
  4. Place the dough on a clean, lightly floured work surface. Use your hands to knead the dough, folding it over itself and kneading several times.
  5. To a large bowl, add 1/2 a tablespoon of the oil. Wipe it around the bottom of the bowl and just a bit up the sides. Place the dough in the bowl, and cover it with a clean dish towel. Allow it to sit in a warm place for 1 hour or until the dough has about doubled in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
  7. Remove the dough from the bowl, and place it on a lightly floured work surface. Divide the dough equally in half, and then roll out each piece as an oblong or rectangle, about 11 inches long by 6 inches wide and about 1/2 an inch thick.
  8. Lightly spray 2 baking sheets with the cooking spray. Place 1 section of the dough on 1 baking sheet. Use a fork to prick the dough several times. Bake both for about 10 to 12 minutes.
  9. Carefully remove the dough from the pans, and lightly brush each over the top with a little olive oil.
  10. Place the dough directly onto the oven rack, and continue to bake for another 2 to 4 minutes or until the dough turns golden.
  11. Remove from the oven. Divide the ingredients between the 2 flatbreads, first spreading on the pizza sauce, and then the red pepper flakes, the mozzarella, the asparagus pieces and the bacon. Sprinkle with the Parmesan cheese, and place back in the oven until the cheese has melted — just a few minutes.
  12. Remove from the oven, and cut into slices. Serve warm.

This Sunday dinner meal is flat-out fabulous.

Grandma's perfect buttermilk biscuits

Southern style buttermilk biscuits recipe

Growing up in the South with my grandmother, I gained a lot of knowledge in the kitchen. My grandmother was born and raised in the South and every Sunday would bake a huge tray of buttermilk biscuits for our family to enjoy with breakfast.

Southern style buttermilk biscuits recipe

The great thing about this recipe is that you don't have to use it just for biscuits. My grandmother used this same biscuit recipe for the dumplings in her chicken and dumplings dish, as a topping for casseroles and even for shortcakes. Once you make this homemade version, you will never buy the boxed mixes again.

Southern-style buttermilk biscuit recipe

Serves12-15

Ingredients:

  • 5 cups bread flour, sifted
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1/2 cup very cold butter, diced (try to use the best quality butter you can find)
  • 1 3/4 cups buttermilk, very cold (try to use the best quality buttermilk you can find)
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper, and set it aside.
  2. Over a large bowl, add the flour, baking powder and sea salt to a sifter. Sift the ingredients together so there are no lumps and the flour is nice and fluffy.
  3. To the sifted flour, add the butter, and using your hands, blend the butter into the flour. You will notice small lumps of butter throughout the dough; this is normal.
  4. Make a small hole in the center of the flour mixture, and pour in the cold buttermilk. Continue to mix with your hands until a soft, sticky dough has formed. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface, and roll it out to about 1 inch in thickness.
  5. Using a round biscuit cutter or cookie cutter, cut out the biscuits. Place them on the baking sheet, and bake about 10 to 15 minutes or until the tops are slightly golden brown. (You do not want to overbake.)
  6. Remove the biscuits from the oven, and brush the tops with the melted butter. Serve alongside your favorite breakfast or with fresh jam.

Tip

My grandmother used to tell me it was very important to use very cold buttermilk and very cold butter in her biscuit recipe. Doing this helps give the biscuits their fluffy, flaky texture.

Dilly egg salad in crispy mini cups recipe

Egg salad never looked as good as it does in these adorable little mini-cups. The splash of dill gives the egg salad a fresh flavor, and the crispy mini hash brown cups are almost too darn cute to even eat. Of course, I have no problem popping these little cuties into my mouth one at a time.

Pope Francis
Book roundup

The Pope and authors who stir the pot

Time Magazine named Pope Francis "Person of the Year"
in 2013. It’s no wonder, with the way he seamlessly caught the attention of the world and pop culture.

From taking selfies to auctioning off his own motorcycle, Pope Francis is a cool dude. On April 20, he will release The Church of Mercy, his first Vatican-authorized book detailing his vision for the Catholic Church. Considering all he's done in the world, his book is sure to carry a message of mercy and love.

Of course, cool people aren't without controversy — especially when they mix groovy with God. Some elder Catholics aren't happy about Pope Francis and, for example, his acceptance of homosexuality. He's not the first religious writer to cause waves.

7 Quotes from Time's Person of the Year: Pope Francis >>

Here is a roundup of the most controversial books about religion. I'm not saying I agree with all of these authors, but it's good to know your friends… and enemies.

1

Martin Luther: Selections from His Writings
by Martin Luther

Martin Luther: Selections from his Writings

Yeah, he wrote in the 1500s, but this guy was a mover and a shaker. While the rest of Germany was cool being Catholic, he stood up against the idea that money could buy a person's way into heaven; instead, he believed in grace. Due to his opinions, he was excommunicated by the Pope and condemned as an outlaw by the Emperor. He's the father of Protestantism, and he had balls.

2

The Crisis of Zionism by Peter Beinart

The Crisis of Zionism by Peter Beinart

In 2012, Jewish author Beinart was banned from a Jewish book festival in Atlanta because of his views regarding Israeli democracy. He sees trouble in the West Bank (who doesn't?) and believes Jewish leaders are the biggest barriers to peace overseas. He fully documents his beliefs — and points fingers — in this highly controversial book that many Jewish people consider heresy.

Oh, Jerry… Mr. Falwell was a conservative Southern Baptist preacher and televangelist who liked to stick his foot in his mouth. Listen, America! is his political manifesto of the so-called "Christian right." Falwell was already controversial, but after 9/11, he went bonkers, blaming everyone from Pagans to abortionists to lesbians for the terrorist attack. Wanna get angry? Read this book.

The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie

The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie

First published in 1988, this is a work of fiction, but not so according to many Muslim leaders of the day. They claimed the novel was an attack on their religion, and because of this, a death sentence was ordered on Rushdie (but never enacted). The book pulls heavily from Quran lore — even segments that were not included in the final edit. Rushdie was quoted as saying he would "sing on, in spite of attacks."

The Cost of Discipleship by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Bonhoeffer lived in Germany during World War II and snuck around behind Hitler's back. He preached mercy and acceptance. He was murdered for speaking out. This is his most well known treatise, and he makes it clear: being a good person ain't easy. He believed in personal sacrifice to glorify God, but beware, Bonhoeffer had a big brain. Some sentences take two or three reads for full digestion.

Teen Witch: Wicca for a New Generation

We all went through that Craft phase when we wanted to fly on broomsticks, and here's the book to prove it. There are many Wiccans out there who hate RavenWolf. They say she has watered down their religion to make it palatable and mainstream and to make money. Arguably, her books are good for beginners, but the broader Wiccan community gags on her fluffy take on modern magic.

Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas tie the knot

These two don't have to search any further for their fairy tale.

Once Upon a Time co-stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas were wed at sunset yesterday in a formal yet small affair held in the Los Angeles area, according to E! News. About thirty people were in attendance.

VIDEO: Once Upon a Time sneak peek: What did Hook do for a year? >>

The ever-stylish bride wore a custom Monique Lhullier gown.

"Ginnifer and Josh seemed very relaxed and happy. They were surrounded by their nearest and dearest friends and kept it very intimate and simple," a source who attended the nuptials said.

The happy couple met and bonded on set back in 2011 when they were filming away from home. "They were shooting in Canada together," said a source, "and because they were both away from home, they inevitably started socializing together off the set as well as on." The only problem? Dallas was married to actress Lara Pulver and Goodwin was engaged to Super Troopers actor Joey Kern.

However, both were newly single soon after meeting, and it was game on. "It hit me like a blinding light," said Dallas. "I thought, 'I'm in trouble now.'" The two went public with their coupledom in 2012 and they made steps toward making it official not long after that. They announced their engagement in October 2013.

A witness to last night's event says that wedding attendees began arriving at the venue in formal attire between 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. and were enjoying a courtyard reception by 7:00. The cocktail soiree was complete with a Spanish-style guitar player, cactus, and stone pathways.

The ceremony had one very special, tiny attendee. TV's Snow White and Prince Charming revealed in November that they are expecting their first child together. The news undoubtedly was a dream come true for both parts of the couple, but especially Goodwin, who has previously revealed she wants a large family. "I want three or five children. But I need a bigger house or a smaller closet," said the 35-year-old actress.

Best wishes to the happy couple and their new family!

If you're looking for a way to kill a lazy afternoon with a bowl of buttered popcorn, Season 1 of Deadbeat on Hulu Plus has got you covered. Quirky and goofy, the 10-episode season pairs perfectly with unhealthy snacks and beer. Don't expect too much depth. The show often walks the fine line next to offensive territory, but if you're looking to turn off your brain for a while and zone on the couch like a teenager, this is your show.

The premise

Tyler Labine stars as Kevin, a downwardly mobile New Yorker who is a powerful medium with absolutely no motivation. He does what he must to pay rent but otherwise has no interest (or maybe it's sheer laziness, not lack of interest) in banking on his abilities.

Instead, he's much more interested in getting a date with Camomile (Cat Deeley), a fraud who only pretends like she can see the spirits Kevin can. Also working against Kevin is that Camomile despises him.

With his complete and utter lack of motivation in check, Kevin puts in his very least effort to help stubborn spirits with their unfinished business, if only so they'll leave him alone. From there, you can only imagine the kind of shenanigans that ensue.

What I liked

This show fits nicely in with the slacker genre we see so prevalent today. I could easily see a 16-year-old boy watching this show, and for those who are seeking out that kind of humor, the show is worth the time as long as you have it to spare. It is lighthearted and oh-so-silly.

Labine is charming as Kevin and sells the character well. As for Deeley, this marks her biggest entrance into scripted television after hosting such well-known shows as So You Think You Can Dance. She brings the same enthusiasm to this role and works it with a carefree attitude. The two paired together give a good dynamic to the show.

What I didn't like

Kevin is like the medium version of Seth Rogen in Knocked Up, only not quite as endearing, unfortunately. While Labine and Deeley manage to make the story work together, the writing often falls flat. The humor will make you giggle but often leave you with something to be desired. It's crass and sometimes not in a good way. The show definitely has potential, as the premise is really interesting. It just doesn't quite deliver the high note we wanted it to.

No word yet on Hulu's plans for Season 2. You can keep up to date with the show online.

ARIES (March 20 – April 18)

Tuesday's lunar eclipse will be very powerful. This is when you will be sizing up your relationship. Be forewarned that things could fall apart. It often happens during a lunar eclipse. If that's the case, then let him go. However, if there really is something to the two of you, then this is the time to recommit. But recommit doesn't work like rollover minutes. It means reconnecting to what brought you together in the first place and charting a new course from here. Who knows? You could fall in love with him all over again.

{pageBreak}

taurus

TAURUS (April 19 – May 19)

Pluto's retrograde this week will leave you all dressed up with nowhere to go. The serial cancellations, cobbled excuses and empty promises to be a better boyfriend all add up to this final no-show. You've done everything you can think of to make this relationship work and now it's time to walk away. Take satisfaction in the knowledge that this guy will regret having strung you along. It may take as long as September for the penny to drop, but it will. And when it lands, it will be with a loud clank.

{pageBreak}

gemini

GEMINI (May 20 – June 19)

The lunar eclipse on April 15 will serve as a powerful wakeup call. You've been struggling with a younger sibling, a child or stepchild for weeks. She's being very difficult which is why you're putting her under lockdown. There's a reason why this seems vaguely familiar. She's acting the way you did when you were her age. And you are reacting a lot like your mother. We don't always see the moment when protectiveness starts to inhibit somebody else's growth. Now that you do, you can step back and let nature take its course.

{pageBreak}

cancer

CANCER (June 20 – July 21)

It looks like you've met your match. An extremely rare Jupiter/Pluto opposition on April 20 shows that there's more going on between you and that guy you're seeing than either of you expected. Chances are you're meeting when one of you is undergoing a life crisis. One of you may be getting divorced, facing tough financial decisions or recently lost a loved one. Pluto energy tends to peel back the veneer to show the true person underneath. This energy is more intense than you're used to, but it also forges the ties that bind.

{pageBreak}

LEO (July 22 – Aug. 21)

You're having a hard time believing that he's not serious about you. He sure does follow you around a lot for someone who says he's not looking for a commitment. People can have whatever they want sexually nowadays. We live in a world of hookups, so the door is always open if anyone wants to leave. But what isn't as easy to find is intimacy. You know it's there. And he knows it's there. So the question is: When is he going to talk about it? Try Thursday when Venus trines Jupiter at sunset.

VIRGO (Aug. 22 – Sept. 21)

Life could be rough for your boyfriend or spouse this week. He could receive news of an economic downturn, a surprise shortfall, or a private matter that he's been struggling with will come out in a very public way. These are the times that test lovers' souls. Your first reaction may not be one that you're not proud of (people born under Mercury tend to rush toward the exit at the first sign of trouble), but once you think better of it you will see that the best place to be is at his side.

{pageBreak}

libra

LIBRA (Sept. 22 – Oct. 21)

You always believed that you were in it together but the lunar eclipse on Tuesday shows that you and your partner may have two very different ideas of what “together” means. The seeds of this were planted last October. You'll have to initiate the conversation about your relationship because he'll avoid it if you don't. Things may look dreary, but they're not insurmountable. You're not dealing with a bad person — just someone who feels like he's in over his head. Be calm and reassuring and you'll work out a solution to your troubles after the 28th.

{pageBreak}

scorpio

SCORPIO (Oct. 22 – Nov. 20)

Don't look now but you're becoming a kinder, gentler Scorpio. You have Venus' translation of light (April 11 to 24) to thank for this remarkable transformation. It's like you can feel people's pain and that you really get where they're coming from — even if they treated you poorly in the past. This allows you to see past the eye-for-an-eye tit for tat and to peer into the wounded soul underneath. The result will be a true emotional rebirth and healing as you wash away years of grievances and treat it all like water under the bridge.

{pageBreak}

sagittarius

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 21 – Dec. 20)

You're going to have a heckuva time roping in your boyfriend this week. In fact, you'd probably have better luck riding a bucking bronco. It looks as if the stars have removed the “self-edit” button from his stream of consciousness and so he's saying whatever comes to mind — whether people like it or not. He's also being very provocative and argumentative. It's hard to talk to someone when he's in a me-against-the-world mindset, so you might want to keep a safe distance until after April 29. He should regain his senses by then.

{pageBreak}

capricorn

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 – Jan. 18)

Relationships can stagnate over time or they can deepen. It all depends on what each person brings to the table. There's what you see — like attraction, beauty and wanting the best for each other — and then there's what you get — like emotional baggage, family patterns and unspoken expectations. The Pluto/Jupiter opposition on April 20 signals the end of a journey that began in August 2013. It hasn't been easy struggling with intensely personal issues in your relationship, but if you're still together at this point, then it looks like you're set for life.

{pageBreak}

aquarius

AQUARIUS (Jan. 19 – Feb. 17)

The sun moving into Taurus on April 19 signals that you need to spend more time here rather than there. Loved ones have been supportive while work has absorbed just about all of your attention, but you're getting dangerously close to becoming overdrawn at the goodwill bank. You've issued a lot of rain checks lately and they're on the verge of bouncing. Answer? Make more time for them in the weeks ahead. They'll appreciate that you care and you will appreciate reconnecting to the reasons why you work as hard as you do.

{pageBreak}

pisces

PISCES (Feb. 18 – March 19)

You thought things were heading in one direction but you'll discover that they're going somewhere else on April 14. This could lead you to fear the worst when you should hope for the best — or vice-versa. Expect more wild pendulum swings in the days ahead. In fact April 20–23 are crazy. You're on the verge of finding out if the man you want is the right one for you, but it looks like the stars will be throwing you both some more curveballs first. How you field these will determine if you truly belong together.

ARIES (March 20 - April 18)

There's good controversy and bad controversy — just like there's good and bad cholesterol. Right now, it appears as if you're a lightning rod for change at work. This might be because of your bold opinions, but it could also be a result of the position you occupy. In any case, you don't have to do much to be heard, which is why you don't want to say anything that would be unnecessarily provocative. The time is ripe for something new. Act in accordance with this cosmic impulse and people will follow your lead.

TAURUS (April 19 - May 19)

This is going to be a wild and crazy week at work for most people — but not for you. Indeed, you'll be spared the aggravation that the planets will be raining down on everyone else. You have the Venus/Jupiter trine on April 17, followed by Venus' sextile to Pluto on April 18, to thank for this. Not only does this make you impervious to the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, but you can expect to make headway with an exciting project or lucrative sale. Look forward to reaping sizable rewards after April 28.

GEMINI (May 20 - June 19)

Give credit where credit is due on April 14. Mercury next to Uranus shows that you could be stealing somebody else's intellectual property without fully realizing it. Maybe it's a really snappy quote that you overheard, a picture that you downloaded to your blog or material that you think you have permission to use — but that you don't. It always pays to go by the book when it comes to these sorts of things, and chances are that if you check with the original source, then you'll work out an arrangement that's mutually beneficial.

CANCER (June 20 - July 21)

You shouldn't feel bad about negotiating aggressively for what you want. It's not like the person sitting across the table from you is some shrinking violet. He's playing for keeps, too. But the key to your success doesn't lie in bringing him to heel or winning him over to your side. That's just not going to happen. The person you're dealing with is as intractable as they come. The key lies in finding the right fit. The best compromise happens when both parties walk away from the table having lost and gained something.

{pageBreak}

leo

LEO (July 22 - Aug. 21)

Avoid making any binding agreements or long-term plans this week. Not only do you have the lunar eclipse to contend with, but Pluto turns retrograde in that part of your solar chart that pertains to work. Pluto tends to pull the plug on things when it reverses direction, so don't get your hopes up. You don't want to find yourself in a position where you're rarin' to go only to see the lights go out. Wait until after May 12. You'll have a much clearer idea of who the players are and where things stand.

{pageBreak}

virgo

VIRGO (Aug. 22 - Sept. 21)

The lunar eclipse on April 15 shows an agreement unraveling faster than you can stitch it back together. This is one situation you won't be able to salvage, so let events run their course. It may seem like all is lost, but the Mercury/Mars opposition on April 16 shows that there's a clause or rider that protects your interests. Maybe it's a "kill fee," a penalty levied on the other side for not honoring their part of the bargain or a forfeited deposit. In any case, it looks like you'll get something for your trouble.

{pageBreak}

LIBRA (Sept. 22 - Oct. 21)

You're going to have to give to get if you want a business venture to be successful. Otherwise, it won't go beyond where it is now. This could mean paying employees more, upping a backer's percentage or taking a smaller piece of the pie. Libra is the sign of partnerships, and a partnership is a two-way street. Yours has gotten a little too one-sided lately. These sorts of things happen when Mars is traveling through your sign, but you can remedy it easily enough. Be more generous and you'll reap higher dividends in return.

SCORPIO (Oct. 22 - Nov. 20)

Either you will pull off that amazing coup that you've been working on for weeks, or you will be sent back to the drawing board. The fate of your project or endeavor depends on locking in two very important people: one whom you feel pretty confident about and another who is a total wild card. Your game-changing days are Monday and Thursday. You will need to be steely-nerved because things could be on one moment, nixed the next and then back on hours later. You have to stay on your toes.

Is it too early to hope that you're out of the woods? Yes, but developments on April 14 and 17 point to a rosier financial picture. The good news is that it you've come up with a solution to keep the wolf from the door. In the past, this would have been a hastily arranged loan or favor, but this time, the planets show you securing a job with real promise. You still have a ways to go before you're in the clear, but at least you can see the forest for the trees.

capricorn

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 - Jan. 18)

There are going to be so many highs and lows this week — not to mention unexpected twists and turns — that you'll be lucky if you're still forming complete sentences on the other side of it. It's important to know that the Stars are moving you to the place where you need to be in your career right now. You may not get what you want, but you'll get what you need. Be open to developments on April 14 and 20. You may think you're losing everything, but in reality, you're getting more than you dreamed possible.

In a world of buzz, hype and "likes," it's hard to tell if someone is the genuine article or not. You were born under a zodiac sign that combines perfectionism with a solid work ethic. You hold people to the same high standards you hold yourself to, and you'll work with them to achieve the best results. If this means rolling up your sleeves and putting your shoulder to the wheel, then so be it. On April 17, you'll see how certain higher-ups appreciate this when you receive an unexpected promotion or raise.

It's hard to put a price on the work that we provide. Oftentimes, we'll devalue what we do halfway through a negotiation or interview in order to appeal to the other party. The beauty of Venus in Pisces is that you are at the height of your attractive powers now. People see you as the answer to their prayers. It's why you want to let a potential employer or client do all the talking. The less you say, the more he'll raise your fee or starting salary. Test it out on Thursday and see for yourself.

It's no secret that you were born with a chip on your shoulder. Aries people often feel like they're being treated unfairly or like they're not as good as everyone else. Sometimes this is real and sometimes it's imagined, but it still exists as an emotional button waiting to be pushed. Volatile planetary aspects on April 14, 15 and 20 will make you see red, and you'll want to act out in loud and counterproductive ways. But don't. You can't afford to burn your bridges because you never know when you'll need to cross back over them.

TAURUS (April 19 - May 19)

It's going to feel like the world has gone to hell in a handbasket this week, which is why it's a good idea to keep a low profile. Loved ones, friends and even your boss will be deluged with a rising tide of life crises. It will be one thing after another, so be prepared to lend a helping hand and a shoulder to lean on. One thing that you will want to avoid is getting roped into colleagues' battles at work on April 15. This isn't your grievance. It's best to steer clear.

You're pretty good at anticipating things. It comes from endless hours spent manufacturing scenarios in your head. Yet even you will be thrown for a loop on April 14, when your Ruling Planet Mercury crosses over a tricky patch of sky. This is when you'll discover that something that was nixed weeks ago is suddenly up and running. Moreover, you may have to get moving right away just to catch up with things that have already been set in motion. You're rarely caught off guard, but now that you have been, your interest is definitely piqued.

CANCER (June 20 - July 21)

Lunar eclipses ask one question and one question only: Are you on iffy ground? If you are, then you will see a situation involving work, your home or home ownership unravel on April 15. If something like this happens, then it's best to cut your losses and move on. If, however, there are renewed signs of life — like talk of a promotion, move or sale — then this is the Stars' way of saying that this is something worth investing your time and energy in. You will reap enormous benefits.

LEO (July 22 - Aug. 21)

They say that success changes you, but sometimes it changes the people around you. They may go from admiring you to envying you — or worse, asking for favors that they have no intention of paying back. You're not one to cast a critical glance on your peeps (you love to be loved too much), but it might be worth examining what you are getting out of certain "friendships." It's not a crime to jettison the naysayers, moochers and hangers-on in your life. Friendship shouldn't be one-sided — especially when you give as much as you do.

VIRGO (Aug. 22 - Sept. 21)

Things reach a crescendo on April 15. This is when you can no longer keep that secret you were hoping to keep and must turn to a friend, confidante or counselor. Divulging is never easy, and part of you may feel intensely guilty. Thankfully, what you get in return is the support, understanding and advice you've craved for weeks. Not only will you feel relieved, but you'll also feel empowered. Admittedly, you've still got a ways to go before you can clear up your situation, but the outlook is a lot brighter now than it was before.

There is a lot of powerful energy coursing through your horoscope right now, and it could push you to new heights if you work with it intelligently. You are coming into your own after years of being the goody two-shoes. You’re feeling strong, emboldened and like nobody can stop you. This makes you want to give the marching orders instead of take them. Remember that you were born under Venus, the planet of partnerships. You cannot succeed without respecting those who have equal say in your life. Honor that and you can't go wrong.

You could be accused of something you didn't do, set up for a situation where you are bound to fail or pressured to disclose information that you are not at liberty to share. Do what your gut tells you is right. It may mean traveling a hard road for a while, but Pluto always rewards those who brave its trials.

But truth to tell, it hasn't been easy keeping those fires of faith burning. You've undergone so many trials and tribulations recently that you're ready to grab a life preserver and abandon ship. Thankfully, the Jupiter/Pluto opposition on April 20 signals that help is on the way in the guise of a certain opportunity, person or agency. Your faith in the impossible is about to be rewarded.

The lunar eclipse on Tuesday shows you fulfilling a long-standing obligation. This could be completing an assignment, living up to a pledge or paying off a debt. Part of you will be happy, while another part of you will feel strangely lost. That's because Capricorns don't do free time well. Blank spaces need to be filled in, and you'll want to fill in yours with the first heavy burden to come along. Don't. Sit with that freedom of choice a little while longer and you'll come to see that blank space as a fresh canvas waiting to be painted on.

Well, you can look for some very real signals from the Universe on April 14, 15 and 20. It may not appear as a burning bush, but it could manifest as an invitation to join a meditation class, spiritual group or philosophy course.

If you don't see it for yourself, then ask your friends, because they'll point it out to you. It's a rare thing to feel so attuned to who you are and what you're about. MTV aired an exclusive scene from The Fault in Our Stars at tonight’s MTV Movie Awards red carpet segment.

The stars appeared to present the clip. Shailene Woodley wore a military-inspired camo green skirt and top knotted to mimic a triangle cutout on her tummy, clearly not revealing a baby bump like Snooki and JWoww. Ansel Elgort looked lean and luscious in his black-on-black skinny suit.

2014 MTV Movie Awards: See the winners here! >>

When MTV showed the clip, the Twittersphere went crazy! Some people even admitted the only reason they were watching the MTV Movie Awards was that they wanted to see the clip.

The tweets ranged from fangirling to emo to philosophical. Here are just a few:

Oh, Kate — don't be ashamed, we're all looking forward to the movie!

The Fault in Our Stars is based on the beloved young adult novel of the same name by John Green. It stars Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Willem Dafoe, Sam Trammell and Laura Dern.

We're predicting a rise in Kleenex sales in the beginning of June, because who doesn't like to have a good cry? And if anyone can rock an oxygen tank as a clothing accessory, it would have to be Shailene Woodley.

We also loved the metaphor quote. When Gus pulls out a cigarette, Hazel goes off on him about why he would give his money to a company that sells cancer-causing products. Ever so witty, Gus said, "It’s a metaphor, see. You put the thing that does the killing right between your teeth, but you never give it the power to kill you.”

The Fault in Our Stars premieres June 6.

Leo DiCaprio can act circles around the young hunk, but perhaps that's the problem. Leo just isn't young anymore. Women swooned over the 6-foot-tall drink of water in Titanic, but that was a long time ago. At 39, he still looks amazing, but maybe the new MTV generation really wants actors to be fresh and vulnerable.

Leo was even snubbed for the Oscar this year for his greedy, sinful character Jordan Belfort in The Wolf of Wall Street. Apparently debauchery is bad for winning awards.

There was lots of love for Hutcherson on Twitter, however. Leo DiCaprio? Not so much. The #PoorLeo hashtag started after DiCaprio recently lost the Oscar and lives on tonight — in infamy — thanks to MTV:

So what should Leo do to get back in the audience's favor? We don't think losing 40 pounds, like Matthew McConnaughay or Jared Leto did for Dallas Buyers Club is a good option. Sure, it worked for them, but he'll look like a copycat, unless he waits 10 years but by then he'll be almost 50.

Gaining weight worked for Charlize Theron in Monster, but we don't really want to see a chubby DiCaprio.

A lot of actors who wear prosthetics win awards. Take Nicole Kidman in The Hours. Somehow, Leo's snub nose is so perfect, it seems a shame to alter it.

Here's what we recommend for the aging "king of the world": Leo, we want you to have some fun. Don't take a role as a historical figure like Howard Hughes in Aviator or a bland wealthy dude like The Great Gatsby. Just make a movie that allows you to explore something new and exciting. Maybe do a comedy or silly fantasy flick.

Take that risk, and we think the awards will start to pour in.

The good news? The Wolf of Wall Street picked up the MTV #WTF award for the scene where Belfort is on quaaludes and tries to drive his Lamborghini. I think we can all agree it was an amazing scene.

The stars were out in full force at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. While the fashions are never as glamorous as the Oscars, they do rival the Grammys in terms of edginess and risk-taking. In other words, anything goes! Here are some of our favorite fashions that rocked the red carpet this year.

The "Super Bass" singer shocked everyone by going in the opposite direction of how she normally dresses. Instead of a colorful wig and an outlandish outfit, she looked soft and sexy in a simple Alexander McQueen black gown. Minaj accented the outfit with bold gold jewelry.

Lupita Nyong'o

The Oscar winner always shows up in a colorful outfit, and this one did not disappoint. While it definitely was a bold choice, the dress was a rainbow of technicolor accented with electric-blue heels. She might be criticized for taking the risk, but the MTV Movie Awards are the place to do it.

We are used to RiRi wearing something a little more rock and roll on the red carpet, so it was surprising to see her show up in something so soft and feminine. While some viewers thought she looked like she was wearing a sheer bathrobe, we thought it was the perfect outfit to demonstrate that blush is sexy, too.

Rita Ora

Ora wore a plunging neckline to accent her fit figure. The gown was designed by Barbara Casasola and it showcased her ample assets. Her blond locks were gorgeous and flowing in a modern Veronica Lake style. She sported a simple red lip to top off the look.

The mom of two looked incredibly on-trend and fresh in a white crop top paired with a citrus lemon skirt. Her makeup and hair weren't fussy, so she looked breezy and ready for fun at the MTV Movie Awards. Just a hint of skin can be very sexy on the red carpet.

Adrian Grenier

The Entourage star represented the men well by wearing a eggplant-colored suit matched with a black shirt and skinny tie by Zegna. While we are not sure that they complemented his wardrobe, Grenier added another splash of color with American Apparel socks. He tweeted that he was "keeping it real" by wearing his fun socks.

The two gals have a bit of history together since they first met at a meet and greet back in 2007. According to Today, Swift crossed paths with Gabrielle again in September when the bridal shower was mentioned.

Like every good guest, Swift also arrived with gifts, including a KitchenAid mixer with a handwritten recipe. The engaged fan wrote, "The cutest ❤️ @taylorswift thank you so much. I can't express how much seeing you today means to me."

It looks like the "Love Story" singer even stayed to watch Gabrielle open her gifts.

Gabrielle summed up the day to Today, "I will never forget she did this for me. She is truly an incredible, special person."

Now, what will Swift do for her own wedding?
