10 Reasons Nikki and Juan Pablo are confusing

Juan Pablo picks Nikki in the Season 18 finale of The Bachelor

Even Chris Harrison was raggin' on The Bachelor on Monday night after Juan Pablo and Nikki kept tight-lipped on their new and budding relationship. It left everyone feeling awkward and confused. As Harrison put it, we're all OK with moving on.

But first, let's rehash the reasons Nikki and Juan Pablo have left us all uncertain about what the future will hold for these two.

Who wins The Bachelor? Nikki vs. Clare >>

1. I like you "a lot"

Juan Pablo refused to say anything about his feelings for Nikki other than he likes her a lot. A little more descriptive feeling would have been helpful, but the still-bachelor wouldn't spill any details on their developing relationship.

2. It's fine

Juan Pablo got a lot of flak, especially from the new Bachelorette Andi Dorfman for saying, "It's OK," all of the time in response to everything. On Monday night, he mixed things up. Instead of, "It's OK," he said, "It's fine." A lot. The word OK wasn't the problem, though; the problem was the lack of feeling and explanation. It still wasn't there.

3. I am very honest

Juan Pablo even called Harrison out a few times during the After the Final Rose special because Juan Pablo accused him of interrupting him. There's a difference between being honest and being abrasive.

4. "I don't know what I'm looking at" — Chris Harrison

It wasn't just the audience that was unsure. Harrison was at a loss for words on Monday night when Juan Pablo and Nikki would do nothing but stick to each other like glue. She stayed silent. He said, "It's fine." And we all stared awkwardly in return. It's great to want to keep things private, especially after all the bad press Juan Pablo has received, but he signed on to The Bachelor to talk about his feelings. He doesn't get to take it back when he decides he no longer likes where it's led him, right?

The Bachelor: Meet Juan Pablo's 27 women >>

5. Nikki was silent during the finale

Once Juan Pablo came out on stage and started to defend himself, Nikki just kind of sat there until Harrison forced her to speak up. When she did, she seemed genuine with her explanation that they wanted to keep things private. We just don't know if we believe her. (See No. 9 for a solid reason.)

6. "It's so awkward" — Chris Harrison

The host was full of hilarious remarks in response to Juan Pablo's closed-off nature. When even the host is so uncomfortable he no longer knows where to go in the conversation, you know things are confusing.

7. He doesn't regret anything

There were quite a few instances that put us off in the finale alone. What were those dirty words Juan Pablo whispered to Clare? Avoiding the topic only made him look more guilty. Was it really necessary for him to make the remark about being relieved that he sent Clare home? That's just rubbing salt in the wound. There's a difference between not regretting things and not owning up to your actions.

The Bachelor's most popular bachelors >>

8. No description

OK, so Juan Pablo doesn't love Nikki just yet, but he didn't even really give us anything about how amazing she is. Or that their relationship is headed in that direction. Instead, he acted like they had only just met, didn't know each other at all and were in the beginning stages of a relationship. To each his own?

9. Nikki is in love

While Juan Pablo is off trying to sort through his feelings — we hope — Nikki is certain that she loves the man. She wants to be with him and marry him. It's easy to feel sorry for her because while her feelings have developed, he's stagnant. Whether the feelings are there or not, it doesn't do anyone any good not to share them. At least share with each other.

10. It's not private

Sean put it best: Juan Pablo signed up for a very public love story. He can't go back on that agreement now. It's way too late. But that hasn't stopped him from trying to hide any of his feelings or plans with Nikki.

Did you think The Bachelor season finale was awkward? Will Juan Pablo and Nikki last?

Debunking oil pulling: What it actually does

$

Oil pulling is an ancient beauty and health ritual. The ritual involves placing unrefined plant oils — like coconut or sesame — in your mouth and swirling the oil through your teeth for 20 minutes at night or in the morning. Just go online and you'll likely see people touting the technique as a dubious cure-all for a variety of ailments.

What the fuss is all about

Lana Leahey is one woman who ascribes to the technique. "I actually started doing it because I heard it helps with tooth grinding," she said. "Since I started doing it my breath and overall dental health is better, and my skin seems better, too." She added that she's not certain the actual oil pulling is making a difference, but that the ritual of the practice helps her calm down and make better choices for her health throughout the day.

Others aren't quite as reserved in their support of oil pulling. Erica Stolman at Fashionlush is over the moon about the technique. According to Erica, the benefits "are pretty much endless and differ for everyone," but include general detoxification of the body, clearing of acne and eczema and curing of cavities, migraines and hangovers. She also claimed that her teeth are whiter and her TMJ is improving as a result of oil pulling each morning.

Slow down for science

Research on oil pulling, however, isn't as supportive of the technique as proponents might wish. Snopes reports that there are very few clinical studies of the technique, and the ones that exist only point to minor improvements in markers of oral health. Snopes goes on to point out that there are absolutely no studies to back up the claim that oil pulling cures or prevents diseases, "nor is there any sensible scientific explanation for how simply swishing oil around in one's mouth could accomplish any of those things."

Essentially, this means that you cannot and should not count on oil pulling to help with hormonal imbalances, inflammation, reduction in insomnia or skin health. It certainly can't cure cavities, either.

Reasonable expectations

If you're hoping that oil pulling will address everything that ails you, you're probably barking up the wrong tree. Research studies very clearly indicate that the practice won't "detoxify" your body, since it's your kidneys and liver that do that work anyway. It won't do much of anything for the parts of your body that aren't inside your mouth.

That said, there's certainly nothing wrong with the practice if you like doing it. Your teeth, gums and tongue are likely to benefit from the swishing of clean liquid around your mouth, and it's possible that you'll notice whiter teeth and healthier gums as a result. Like Lana Leahey, you may also benefit from using oil pulling as a calming and relaxing ritual at the end of the day. Just know that the benefits of pulling oil are about the same as pulling water or (better yet) antibacterial mouthwash through your teeth.

How to take a self-guided nature walk

$

Young girl on a nature walk | Sheknows.com

Engage your child outside

The beginning of spring is an exciting time of year with fresh blooms poking out of unexpected places and color where there was none before. Foster your child's appreciation for the small things by collecting pieces of nature and investigating their names and purpose in the circle of life.

No matter the efforts we make to coax our kids into playing outside in the colder months, the great outdoors are not as alluring when trees are bare and fingers are gloved. As winter softens into spring, children will often default to indoor play, even when the sun shines and the skies are the warmest they’ve been all year.

We can help them fall in love with nature all over again by cultivating awareness. Your child’s natural curiosity will do the rest.

A simple formula for taking self-guided nature walks

1

Gather supplies

If your child can walk, I recommend leaving the stroller at home. Allow your child to explore the earth on his own two feet. Grab a reusable shopping bag and your camera and prepare to get a little dirty. Try to remember that “dirt don’t hurt.” Tell your child you are going on a treasure hunt for beautiful plants and animals to keep him engaged and excited to explore.

2

Plan, or not

Though parks and botanical gardens make for abundant scenery, there’s something magical about walking out of your front door and recognizing that the earth is alive everywhere. If you live in a very urban area you might plan to walk to a park where you can find more flora and fauna. Otherwise, let your child lead the way for a change. If you never leave your front yard, that’s okay, too.

3

Keep your eyes open

This may be the most important part. We pass many mysteries of nature each day without taking much notice. Look for spider webs up high, ants on the ground, blooms that have fallen onto the sidewalk. I follow two general rules: (1) Don’t pick other people’s flowers. Wild flowers and fallen flowers are fair game. (2) Take photos of the insects rather than taking them home.

If your child is very young, provide more guidance. Show her to gently touch plants, allow her to feel the cold smooth weight of a rock in her hand, tickle her palm with the edge of a leaf.

4

Say yes

Play a game with yourself: see how often you can say “yes” to your child rather than “no.”

Yes, you can put that rock in the bag.

Yes, the fern is beautiful.

Yes, you can pick up the leaves on the ground.

Yes, you can hold that dandelion.

Yes, we can go down that street.

5

Identify

Offer to take photos of anything she likes that she cannot put in the bag. Also, name every thing she notices.

Lavender. Roses. Ivy. Potato bug. Bird.

If you are unsure of the name, you can download the Leafsnap application to your smartphone and learn something new yourself. For identifying bugs, I recommend BugGuide.

6

Recap

Little girl with dandelion | Sheknows.com

Lay out all of your treasures when you return home. Look through the photos. Review the names. Ask your child to recall what they liked about each item.

7

Take it further

If your child is older and interested, go to Google and Wikipedia to find more information about the flora and fauna in your neighborhood. Consider why each plant and animal does what it does.

For example, the potato bug (Armadillidium vulgare) feeds chiefly on decaying plant matter. Ask your child, why do you think this job is important?

As for dandelions, these plants contain abundant vitamins and minerals, they have medicinal properties for humans and they also provide nectar and pollen for bees.

8

Repeat as often as possible

Don’t be scared inside by spring showers, take an umbrella and notice what happens to the plants and animals when it rains. You will find that nature never Dandelion flowers | Sheknows.comfails to stimulate and surprise. Express joy and wonder for the earth and your children, too, will learn to love the outdoors.

Chris Harrison The Bachelor

Less stating of the obvious

Let's get this most obvious point out of the way first. We've complained before about Chris Harrison stepping out when there is one rose left and announcing that there is one rose left. Just because we have two hours to waste on a Monday night with a mind-numbing guilty pleasure doesn't mean we're stupid. Pathetic, maybe. But not stupid. Also, we don't need the bachelor and/or the girls to point out how beautiful the absurdly exotic locations and dates are. We get it. We can see.

The Bachelor: Are Sharleen and Juan Pablo back on? >>

Less repetition

Along these same obvious lines, it is enough already with the repetition. If Clare said one more time that she was "falling in love with Juan Pablo" on The Bachelor finale, we were going to lose our s***. Producers, we implore you to stop asking the bachelor and the girls if they can see themselves with the other person for the rest of their lives, because if we hear "I can absolutely see myself with (fill in the blank)" again, we're going to light ourselves on fire. Also, we'd consider it a personal favor as part of the participants' contractual obligations if the words "great," "excited" and "amazing" were stricken from all parties' vocabularies.

Sean Lowe The Bachelor

Bachelors who aren't d***s

How many of us longed for the days of Sean Lowe as he was invited to be a part of the finale's festivities? Lowe was hot, funny, sincere, genuine — pretty much all the things that Juan Pablo isn't. Juan Pablo proved himself to be a total d*** on Monday night's finale of The Bachelor. He was dodgy, hurtful, condescending, offensive, crude, arrogant — and that was just in the first 10 minutes. The only person who appeared to like Juan Pablo in the After the Final Rose show was the girl he ended up choosing — Nikki — and even as the night wore on, she had a look on her face like, "What am I doing with this clown?" Harrison, if you are reading this, let this be your one takeaway — a few more Sean Lowe types, a few less Juan Pablo types. Mmmmk?

Shirtless GIFs: Mourning the loss of Bachelor Sean Lowe >>

Juan Pablo and Clare The Bachelor

Real-life scenarios

Hit us up top for an air-five if you want to see The Bachelor feature a few more realistic settings and dates. Fantasy is fine if you are writing a book, but it's not OK when you are trying to find lasting love. The participants in this show need to be subjected to a few real-life experiences. They need to go shopping at Walmart together on a Saturday morning after the first of the month and see if they still like each other afterward. They need to babysit a house full of screaming kids for 10 hours straight or have one of the girl's mothers visit them for a few days. A potentially lasting love has to be tested. Give the couple a stack of bills that they don't have any money for and see how they handle that. Have the bachelor and one of his hopefuls sit around his pad all day while he scratches his boys and watches ESPN. If two people still like each other after any of these scenarios, then we've got something we can get behind.

Early elective delivery on the decline

Pregnant woman getting examined by doctor | Sheknows.com

there is work to be done

A new report from the LeapFrog Group shows early elective deliveries (EEDs) have drastically declined since the organization began reporting on them in 2010. Leah Binder, LeapFrog's president and CEO, talks to SheKnows about the recent successes to reduce unnecessary EEDs and the steps to continue to advocate for additional best practices within maternity care.

The dangers of EEDs

"[The] last two weeks of pregnancy can be critical to baby's lung development."

My first question is this — if doctors and pregnant women are aware of the dangers of an elective early delivery, why would they choose that route? Binder notes, "There is a perception that it is better to schedule a delivery than to let nature takes its course — for example if one lives in a rural area far away from the hospital and suddenly nature takes its course in the middle of the night."

Tips on getting doctors involved in birth plans >>

Binder doesn't agree with that premise. "It is an erroneous perception, however," she adds. "Early deliveries are unsafe for the mother and the baby and are not considered good practice for doctors by the American Congress of Gynecologists (ACOG) or the March of Dimes." She notes that sometimes a due date can be off by a week or more, and those last two weeks of pregnancy, bringing a baby to full-term of 40 weeks, can be critical to baby's lung development.

Success story

While ACOG has been reporting on the dangers of EEDs for more than 30 years, in 2010 the LeapFrog Group began gathering rates of EEDs from participating doctors and making that information widely available to women. The first report, released in 2011, determined that 17 percent of EEDs were actually unnecessary. "Nobody knew that at that time," Binder notes.

Learn how you can prevent and identify preterm labor >>

The report also showed great variation within hospitals in the same region — sometimes as little as 2 percent of EEDs at one hospital and as many as 40 percent at another nearby hospital. But the report gave women the knowledge to make an educated decision on where they wanted to deliver based on EED rates. In 2012, the number had dropped from 17 percent to 14 percent. That same year, the federal government also launched the Partnership for Patients to help reduce EEDs.

The latest results

"EEDs have dropped to just 4.6 percent on a national average."

Binder is pleased to announce that the 2013 results show EEDs have dropped to just 4.6 percent on a national average, with 71 percent of the more than 1,000 hospitals reporting to the LeapFrog Group having an EED rate of less than 5 percent. "We don't generally see that type of dramatic results," she adds. The list of participating hospitals and their individual rating are now listed at LeapFrog Group. She encourages pregnant women to check out how their local hospitals rate before determining where they want to deliver their babies. She also advises pregnant women to read up on the dangers of EEDs at March of Dimes.

More to be done

While Binder is pleased with the dramatic drop in EED rates, she is persistent that more work still needs to be done for the protection of pregnant women and their babies. She notes that there is still a third of hospitals which have much higher EED results that "didn't get the memo." For these hospitals, she says women need to demand better results. While she wants to put pressure on the hospitals that haven't made the grade, she also wants to recognize the hospitals that have made the effort to reduce their number of EEDs.

The organization also plans to focus on other unnecessary intervention methods of maternity care such as cesarean sections and episiotomies. "In the future, LeapFrog will be able to report on that data for women to reference," Binder says.

When it comes to your health and the health of your baby, sometimes you have to be your own advocate. Learning about the dangers of EEDs and finding out how your hospital ranks can save your baby's life — and even your own.

The Bachelor non-proposal: What happened to the ring?

Nikki Ferrell dodged a bullet last night when the most-hated Bachelor in TV history Juan Pablo picked her but refused to propose. One final detail has yet to be resolved, though. Ferrell was obviously in it for the ring, so where exactly is that Neil Lane sparkler if it is not on her finger?

According to People, Juan Pablo picked out a 3.5-carat cushion-cut diamond surrounded by smaller diamonds, set in platinum by the celebrity jewelry designer, and despite his wishy-washiness on the show finale he seemed pretty set on marriage at the time he chose the bling.

10 Reasons why Nikki & Juan Pablo are super-confusing >>

"He was talking to me like a guy who is about to propose would talk, and he seemed to take it very seriously," Lane told People.

"He indicated to me that he had found the right girl. He did not give a hint that he didn't have that certainty about the woman he was choosing. Sitting in St. Lucia and talking to him, it was clear he had a girl in mind and he wasn't taking it lightly. He seemed excited about the moment and finding the best ring for this particular girl.

Changes needed to keep us watching The Bachelor >>

"When I left him, he seemed prepared to propose," Lane added.

That obviously didn't happen, so where is that ring? A show source told the mag that it is in the hands of Bachelor producers until Juan Pablo actually makes up his mind about marriage.

"The ring is now with producers and is not in Juan Pablo's possession," a show source told the mag. "If a proposal doesn't occur on the show, the show holds on to the ring. If Juan Pablo decides to propose in the near future, the ring would be his for the asking. But much further down the line? It's unclear whether or not he'd still have access to it."

Tell us: Should Nikki Ferrell wait it out or run far, far away?

Kevin Bacon is speaking out to right a wrong. The actor has filmed a public service announcement on behalf of the '80s, flabbergasted that the up-and-coming generations — he's talking about you, millennials — have no idea about the decade so many hold dear.

In a video message for Mashable, the 55-year-old The Following star tells smartphone-loving youngsters, "My friend Tommy went out to rent a copy of Gremlins and never came back. You know why? Nuked. At least that's what my parents told me."

Bacon, who was looking a tad bit hipster while at a benefit gala with wife Kyra Sedgwick earlier this year, even cracked himself up with a flub tagged onto the video's end.

Kevin Bacon: "Fame is very, very bizarre" >>

Speaking of rad throwbacks, the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game turned 20 recently.

"It was so annoying," the spoiler-prone star said during an interview with BuzzFeed about his initial misconception of the fun. "I thought it was a joke at my expense. I thought somebody was trying to pick the biggest loser they could find and joke about the fact I could be connected to Laurence Olivier in two steps. When you fight so hard and put your sweat and blood into trying to have your work speak for itself, I found it belittling."

Thankfully, Bacon eventually got on board with his connectedness, but still expected the game to "go the way of pogo sticks and pet rocks... But it never went away, and now it's been 20 years."

What can we say? It's fun, and those millennials are infamous for loving Bacon... and bacon!

Trista Sutter's relationship advice for Nikki and Juan Pablo

Trista Sutter

What women don't want

One thing's for darn sure: The most controversial Bachelor ever did give us a nice reminder about what a healthy relationship isn't. We talked to the original Bachelorette, Trista Sutter, to get her take on what went wrong. Let's reflect, shall we?

Photo credit: Michael Kovac/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images
1

Brutal honesty isn't always the best policy

Let's face it — Juan Pablo's definition of honesty all season has been pretty much saying whatever he wants with little to no regard for how it makes the other person feel. And well, it's not OK. As Trista put it, "There's a difference between being honest and being disrespectful. You can still be honest and be kind," she explains. "I think Juan Pablo was being honest, but for some reason he thinks being honest isn't holding back necessarily. It seems like he's out of touch with the other partner and is more focused on his honesty and whether he's feeling it. He's not really concerned with the two-way street part of it."

2

Like can easily be mistaken for love

Those three little words do have to be something that comes organically and from the heart. You can't force it, not even under the pressure of a national audience. According to Trista, the one part in the finale that actually did make sense last night was that they were just a happy couple. "They shouldn't be forced into saying, 'I love you.' Juan Pablo clearly wasn't feeling it," she says. "You have to let the relationship happen." And sometimes that means being patient and getting to know each other on a deeper, much more intimate level.

3

Your gut may be the smartest person you know

If there's one piece of advice Trista wishes she could give to Nikki (and all women) it would be to listen to her gut. "It seemed like she didn't want to take the final rose. She hesitated and then said, 'Cool.' It just seemed kind of juvenile. I think she needs to dig deep into who she is and what she wants and really have a heart to heart with herself [about] whether this is a relationship that will make her happy in the future."

4

Never settle for less than you deserve, seriously

One minute Juan Pablo's saying all the right things to Clare talking about their future babies together, and the next he's heartlessly dumping her on national TV saying he's glad he didn't pick her. Um, what? No matter what you think of Clare, Juan Pablo was clearly in the wrong on that one. "Whether it's paper towels or your partner, you should never settle for second best," advises Trista. "Like Clare, my heart too was broken, but I realized that my life wasn't over and I didn't want to settle for someone who didn't want to be with me. You should always go for what you truly need and what you truly want. I think Clare finally realized that in the end."

5

Communication is everything

We have no idea what the future holds for Juan Pablo and Nikki (mostly because he refused to tell us anything at all). We surely hope he's communicating better with Nikki. "Relationships coming off reality TV aren't necessarily 100 percent solid until you take it to the next level after the show ends," explains Trista. "Ryan and I talked on the phone about 10 times a day. You have to be openly communicative about your wants and needs. And really, you need to be together and in the same town in order to solidify your relationship."

Mariska Hargitay fights real-life SVU cases

It's a case of life imitating art: Mariska Hargitay is fighting for sexual assault victims whose cases have been pushed to the back burner due to a huge backlog of rape kits in Detroit, Michigan.

The Law & Order: SVU star is joining forces with Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy to push through legislation aimed at stopping serial rapists through better rape kit testing. Since 2009, Detroit authorities have been wading through a backlog of 11,000 rape kits found in a police storage facility that were never lab tested.

Mariska Hargitay adopts another baby >>

"Every day in the United States women and men take the courageous step of reporting their rape to the police," Hargitay said at a press conference. "And because of what those individuals have suffered, their bodies are crime scenes. They're living, breathing, feeling crime scenes from which doctors and nurses collect evidence in a sexual assault collection kit.

"This federal funding is a direct result of Kym's tireless and relentless work here in Detroit," Hargitay continued. "I'm here in Detroit because I think we have an awesome opportunity with someone who knows how to do it. If you do it here in Detroit, the rest of the country can figure it out."

Mariska Hargitay's Walk of Fame star placed next to mom's >>

Hargitay founded the Joyful Heart Foundation to work with victims of sexual abuse, child abuse and domestic violence, and said that the backlog seen in Detroit is indicative of a bigger problem, calling it "the clearest and most shocking demonstration of how we regard these crimes in our country."

Hargitay is supporting legislation to provide processes and time frames for rape kit collection and processing as well as tracking. So far, according to the Associated Press, of the 1600 Detroit kits tested, 59 percent have matches in a federal DNA database and 87 serial rapists have been identified, resulting in 10 convictions.

Frank Ocean to Chipotle: "F*** OFF"

It doesn't look like Frank Ocean will be patronizing Chipotle anytime in the near future. The singer and the Mexican fast food chain are in a bit of a tiff over a recent ad campaign.

The franchise hired the 26-year-old to record "Pure Imagination" from the classic kids' film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. He was paid an advance of $212,500 in July 2013, but he backed out of the gig before it ever aired.

Oh snap! Miley Cyrus slams Katy Perry & ex in one tweet >>

Ocean was upset that the Chipotle logo appeared at the end of the three-minute clip. The theme of the campaign, called The Scarecrow, focused on "the quest for wholesome, sustainable food."

In August 2013, the "Thinkin Bout You" singer's legal team wrote to the company, "When Frank was asked to participate in this project, Chipotle's representatives told him that the thrust of the campaign was to promote responsible farming. There was no Chipotle reference or logo in the initial presentation, and Chipotle told Frank that was an intentional element of the campaign. Frank was also promised that he'd have the right to approve the master and all advertising."

Fiona Apple wound up recording the track for the ad campaign instead after Ocean and Chipotle couldn't come to terms.

As for Chipotle, they are still waiting for the money to arrive.

They told The Hollywood Reporter, "We've seen the photo, but haven't received a check."

The love triangle between Chris Brown, Karrueche Tran and Rihanna has reared its ugly head once again. The troubled singer now finds himself dumped by Tran after she discovered a secret visit by RiRi to his rehab facility in Malibu, California.

The New York Daily News is reporting that the "Umbrella" singer flew via private plane in late January to see Brown. He's doing a court-ordered stint in rehab for anger management and drug addiction. Brown has been in the facility since early November with an additional two months added by the judge for a parole violation in late February.

Even though Rihanna only spent a few hours with her former beau, that was enough to send his current girlfriend over the edge.

A source told the periodical, "With Chris in rehab, [he] and Karrueche spoke every day and she stood by his side. She took a vacation to Turks and Caicos and told friends the entire time that they were really good and happy together. She trusts Chris, but when it comes to Rihanna, she has a zero-tolerance policy. Then she found out about the trip."

The 24-year-old R&B singer flip-flopped between RiRi and Tran for a few years, causing strife between the two women. When the model confronted her boyfriend about RiRi's visit, he denied it.

Who's Hotter: Drake vs. Chris Brown >>

The source continued, "She believed him, but he finally admitted that Rihanna had come to see him. She put her foot down and cut him off completely."

Tran's only public comment about breaking up with Brown was a tweet on March 5.

As for Rihanna, she's been spotted spending her personal time with another old paramour, Drake.

Looks like Brown is the one left out in the cold.

Game of Thrones has long been known to include titillating sex scenes with a tinge of incest, but did you realize one of the show's stars is gay in real life?

Kristian Nairn, known to many as simple-minded stableboy Hodor, finally found his chance to come out publicly thanks to a recent interview with WinterIsComing.net.

Stevie Nicks has a major talent crush on Game of Thrones >>

"I've never hidden my sexuality from anyone — my whole life, in fact — and I've been waiting for someone to ask about it in an interview, [because] it's not something you just blurt out," the 38-year-old HBO actor explained.

Sharing his frustration at the process taking so long, the Northern Irish actor added, "I've tried to lead questions a few times, to no avail!

"It's a very small part of who I am on the whole, but nonetheless, in this day and age, it's important to stand up and be counted. I have and always will stand my ground."

Reflecting on how his Game Of Thrones co-stars have shown their support since his public discussion of his sexuality, the man you may have also seen in the BBC TV series Ripper Street shared, "So, yeah, people have been great, on the show, but I don't see why it would be an issue."

Though Nairn has been fairly quiet about his personal life making headlines since the interview, he did have this exchange with another Twitter user:

St. Patrick’s Day is green

The school windows would be decorated with shamrocks and leprechauns. McDonald’s would come out with their minty shamrock shake and have commercials and signs for it like it was some big surprise. I loved those shakes and I’d beg and plead and I was very lucky to get one each year.

St. Patrick's day? | Sheknows.com

That was all I knew. I thought it had something to do with leprechauns and luck and green and mint shakes. Hey, what do I know? I’m not Irish so my family didn’t celebrate the holiday.

In my early 20s St. Patrick’s Day also meant Irish pubs and green beer so clearly I had broadened my definition quite a bit.

Course now I have kids. Kids who ask questions.

What's St. Patrick's day? | Sheknows.com

Unfortunately, my understanding hasn’t evolved much since I was a little girl.

One quick trip to Wikipedia and we learned all about the actual dude named Patrick, that the original color associated with him was blue and that he supposedly used shamrocks to explain the holy trinity because of the three leaves. Leprechauns and milkshakes weren’t even involved, which makes the whole story rather disappointing and not as tasty.

What? No Leprechauns? | Sheknows.com

We then read all about leprechauns and other Irish and Celtic mythology (the irony of which is not lost on me) and I wound up reserving several Irish history, culture and story books from the library for the kids.

So while we still don’t celebrate, I’m incredibly thankful that it spawned an interest in some new things for us to discover. And I think my kids have a better grasp on the origins of the holiday than I ever did.

And I’m pretty sure those library books will be even better with a homemade mint milkshake to go along with them. Some traditions (no matter how meaningless) are just plain fun.

Corned beef and cabbage pizza

After St. Patrick's Day, there is tons of leftover corned beef in our house. While I'm normally happy just reheating and enjoying, sometimes I want to do something unique. This pizza is full of Russian dressing, fresh sliced cabbage and slow cooked corned beef. I like to dip my pizza in Russian dressing, but it's delicious on its own too.

Corned beef and cabbage pizza

Corned beef and cabbage pizza recipe

Yield 1 (12 inch) pizza

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound pizza dough, store-bought
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Russian dressing
  • 3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
  • 1 cup shredded corned beef

Directions:

  1. Let the pizza dough sit until room temperature. This helps the dough to stretch without shrinking back up.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with a Silpat liner. Stretch out the dough to create a 12-inch circle or, if it's easier, you can shape it into a rectangle.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil and Russian dressing. Spread onto the crust, leaving a 1-inch crust around the edge.
  4. Sprinkle with most of the cheese, cabbage and corned beef. Top with the small amount of remaining cheese.
  5. Bake for about 18 minutes until the pizza is fully cooked and the cheese is melted.
  6. Let rest for 3 minutes and slice.

Kim Kardashian car crash: Driver smashes into her Mercedes!

Kim Kardashian was not having a good day on Tuesday because she found herself involved in a collision with another car in Beverly Hills, California.

The reality TV star was happily driving along alone in her $100,000 Mercedes G Wagon when another vehicle smashed into her at an intersection.

According to E! News, the mom-of-one was turning left at an intersection on North Camden Avenue and waiting to turn onto Benedict Canyon Drive when the driver of a silver sedan, who had his right indicator on, failed to turn and smashed right into Kardashian while she was turning.

However, both the brunette beauty and the other driver involved in the incident appeared to be in good spirits about the ordeal, and the pair even shared a hug after they had exchanged their insurance details at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Luckily, neither party has reported any injuries and everything seems to be fine. Although, Kardashian does appear to have a bit of bad luck when it comes to driving incidents. She was just recently pulled over by police in Los Angeles, California, for speeding, after she was allegedly trying to escape the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

However, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star carried on with her day as if nothing had happened on Tuesday. She was later spotted on the same day looking gorgeous in an all-black, cleavage-baring ensemble. The star was accompanied by her sisters Khloé and Kourtney at LAX airport, where the trio boarded a flight.

Which co-star did Shailene Woodley hook up with after filming?

Shailene Woodley may just be one of the luckiest young Hollywood stars right now.

Not only is she going to be starring as Beatrice "Tris" Prior in the exciting forthcoming film Divergent — an adaptation of Veronica Roth's novel — she was also fortunate enough to share several passionate kisses with pretty much all of the very hot male characters in the film.

We are very jealous of the star right now, and she has admitted to MTV News that all of the leading men she has hooked up with have been fantastic to smooch. Woodley said, "I feel like I hit the jackpot, they're all great kissers."

So it is little wonder why the Descendants star has been nominated for Best Kiss at this year's MTV Movie Awards. However, having had the chance to kiss so many gorgeous men, we have to wonder if any of that on-screen chemistry has managed to trickle down into her real life?

Woodley revealed to the April issue of Teen Vogue, "I haven't had time to think about a relationship! I literally have not had a boyfriend in almost five years. I've never even hooked up with anybody I've worked on a movie with."

OK, so when it comes to filming romantic scenes, Woodley really doesn't want her personal life to interfere with her work. However, what happens when the cameras stop rolling? Has she ever hooked up with one of her co-stars?

It appears so! An embarrassed Woodley revealed, "Well, that might have happened on something..."

The actress did not clarify who the lucky leading man may have been although the list of very hunky co-stars she could have chosen from includes George Clooney, Miles Teller and our personal favorite, Divergent star Theo James.

And whilst fans are thrilled that Woodley will be starring in Divergent — the franchise is expected to reach blockbuster status — she was initially hesitant to accept the role. "I said no, and everybody was shocked," Woodley recalled.

"I asked Jennifer Lawrence, 'Are you happy with your choice to take on The Hunger Games?' And she said she wouldn't change it for the world."

"She told me, 'There are some things — don't make a sex tape, don't do drugs, don't do things in public — that you wouldn't want other people judging you for. But this is the best decision you'll ever make.'"

Little People, Big World stars Matt and Amy Roloff have weathered their share of storms throughout the years, but 2013 proved to be too much for the reality stars. The couple has announced they've split — at least, for now.

"Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation," they told People.

"Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together every day on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children. We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support, understanding and prayers from our family, friends and many fans. May God bless you."

Top 10 reality TV families: The Roloffs >>

The pair, who along with their four children star in the TLC reality series chronicling the lives of the family, three of who have dwarfism, will address the split in an episode airing March 25.

"Last year, it was long and tough," Matt says in a clip for the new special.

"Amy and I had a lot of tension so right around Thanksgiving, I thought I would move over to the bridal house for a little bit and we'll try that. Amy and I stuck it out for years and years when maybe we shouldn't have. I never quite felt at home in my own home so something needed to change," he added. "We needed to try something different."

Amy does not sound very happy with the arrangement. "I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learned to live together," she said. "It's not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. We don't have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out so it's not going to be easy."
