Ganging up for good

The first thing you notice when you sit down next to Demi Lovato is how utterly gorgeous she is. The second? How she's one of those wonderful celebrities whose outer beauty most definitely translates to inner beauty.

I had the pleasure of sitting down with the new The X Factor judge to chat about how she's working with Secret Deodorant to stomp out bullying. And of course, I got her to share a few beauty tips for you, too!

Demi Lovato -- Mean Stinks campaignSheKnows: I love the idea of the Mean Stinks Movement. So tell me a little bit more about it and how you're getting involved!

Demi Lovato: Joining with Secret to encourage young girls to be drama free, to just support one another and to raise the awareness of how serious bullying actually is has been an awesome opportunity. It’s a movement and we’re just trying to get girls to gang up for good instead of ganging up on one another.

"We’re just trying to get girls to gang up for good instead of ganging up on one another."

SheKnows: You guys seem to have some fun ways of getting young girls involved in the movement, like the pinky promise. Tell me a little bit more about that and the other resources you're offering to girls.

Lovato: We’re encouraging girls to [take part in] the pinky promise -- painting your pinky blue... It’s kind of a conversation starter, which is incredible. We’ve actually had thousands of girls pledge that they’re going to make a difference in their schools and their friends and they’re just not going to bully one another, and that’s pretty incredible. But we have the website meanstinks.com and it's a website that has resources for young girls that are being bullied or that have been bullied. They can talk to one another and relate to one another and there's a lot of advice on there, so I think it’s really helpful.

SMean stinksheKnows: A lot of bullying revolves around appearance, and you've been pretty open about your experience being bullied and dealing with body images issues. With that in mind, what advice would you give to young girls who might be dealing with a body bully?

Lovato: I think it’s so heartbreaking to see one girl tell another girl that she’s fat or whatever. I think that’s not something that anyone should ever call another person, especially in a society and culture where there's so much pressure put on women to look a certain way -- and guys too. So I think that when a girl’s getting [bullied] she needs to speak up about it for sure, talk to somebody about it so she doesn’t internalize it and it comes out in ways that are destructive behaviors towards herself.

What helped me is I tried to understand where the bully was coming from. And if they’re calling you fat, then maybe they’re thinking the same things about themselves, maybe they’re going through something at home. They obviously learned that somewhere, so just try to understand the person. And some people you won’t be able to understand why they’re doing it. But what kind of helps, sometimes I pray for my enemies just because it helps shine them in a different light in my head.

SheKnows: You're a new judge on The X Factor, so how's that going and what has been the biggest surprise about the experience so far?

Lovato: Going into it was so crazy -- I mean it literally happened at the perfect timing in my life. It was amazing to find out one that I got it and two that I was going to be sitting next to Britney Spears. It was just a dream come true. I think something that's surprised me is how dedicated I am to really helping these contestants, especially the ones in my group. They show up in my dreams all the time because I'm always thinking about them and I'm always hoping that they're doing well and that they're doing the best they can do. I'm coming up with ideas for the live shows and so I'm so excited for them. It's going to be a really great experience!

Demi LovatoSheKnows: You always have such versatile beauty looks! What are some of your favorite brands or specific looks you like to experiment with?

Lovato: I love to just play with my hair! Literally, it was pink, blue and green this summer and now I'm really blonde. It's just fun! I don't really rebel a lot in my life so my hair is something I rebel with and just kind of make stupid, impulsive decisions with it that turn out to be fun. It keeps it exciting!

I don't really use a ton of makeup, especially day to day [but] I love NARS lipsticks, especially the ones that look like gel pencils that stay on for forever. Benefit has a really great mascara called They're Real -- it's my favorite -- and Bobbi Brown has a shimmer palette which makes your skin look like it glows. It's really pretty.

SheKnows: You have such a cool sense of style! What are some of the brands that make you feel confident in your skin?

Lovato: I'm wearing a lot of Topshop right now! Everything I'm wearing [today] is Topshop. It's really great and they're coming out with some incredible stuff this fall that I'm so excited to wear! They have something for all body types, which is really great, and things that I feel comfortable wearing day to day, and also for things like today where I need to be a little casual-dressy.

Sometimes there are places where you just walk around and you're like "This is not meant for a girl with curves!" but Topshop can help with that, they appeal to everybody.

"Instead of trying to squeeze into dresses and jeans and things that are going to make you feel uncomfortable all day, wear stuff that you feel great in..."

SheKnows: What's the best beauty advice you've ever received?

Lovato: I don't think that it's something that was given to me, I think it's something that I learned on my own with my experiences. Instead of trying to squeeze into dresses and jeans and things that are going to make you feel uncomfortable all day, wear stuff that you feel great in because it totally shows when you're uncomfortable in an outfit. And when you're comfortable, you're more relaxed, you're more easygoing and more approachable, and you're probably going to smile more.

Our guide to dressing for your body type >>

SheKnows: To feel comfortable in your skin and feel beautiful, it helps to have positive role models. Who are some celebrities you admire that have promoted positive body image?

Lovato: The main person that I always looked to growing up was Kelly Clarkson. She's a Southern Texas girl, which I am too…. When I started getting curves, I was so scared at first and my mom just told me "Look at people that have normal figures, not the girls that are teeny tiny and that's all they worry about." Kelly Clarkson is a perfect example [of someone] who's not a teeny tiny girl and she has this incredible voice and she's successful, so it's really inspiring to look up to that.

Also Jennifer Hudson, she promotes a really healthy lifestyle now and she has beautiful curves. Beyonce, she has beautiful, beautiful curves and she's just confident in her skin. Kim and Khloe Kardashian, too. All these women are healthy and yet they're encouraging people to get healthy and not shrink down to a size that isn't meant for them. It's really inspiring to see girls just accept the body they're in and rock it.

Make Halloween work for you all year

Stock up on costumes

Why spend money on an outfit your child will only wear once?

This year, choose a costume she can use all year long. Better yet, raid the post-Halloween sales to stock up on a whole costume chest your child can use for imaginative play until next year.

For many parents, one of the most annoying aspects of Halloween is dropping time and money on a costume that’s only worn once. It’s like prom for kids. This year, instead of blowing money on a single-use wardrobe item, shop smart and stock up on costumes and props your children can use year-round. Try hitting stores after the holiday for bargains on costumes you can transition into make-believe play clothes.

Think props

When you’re shopping for Halloween costumes, particularly after Halloween when discounts are deep, think props. Costumes with hats, masks, play weapons and other props have better value than flimsy polyester sheaths. A knight costume with a toy shield will get hours of play throughout the year. Look for play weapons that are clearly fake and flexible. Anything with a hard edge is not safe for Halloween or play time. If your child is particularly interested in a specific make-believe hobby, such as cooking or playing veterinarian, look for costumes and props that fit that interest. They’ll be a great addition to the educational imaginitive play toys you already own.

Shop trends

Consider what’s popular this year when you’re shopping for Halloween costumes before and after the holiday. Think about the television shows, books and movies your children are interested in. This year, superheroes are very popular. Big screen princesses are also a hit, and those costumes can be worn to theme parks for special visits. The more your child is interested in a costume or character, the more likely it is that she’ll don the costume later for solving some crimes in the back yard or staging an epic adventure with her friends.

Stock a zoo

Try shopping based on a specific theme when you browse deep discount bins and racks when costumes go on sale after Halloween. Animals are an easy, neutral topic. Fill a storage bin or toy chest with soft, fuzzy animal costumes so that your children can play zoo whenever they have friends over. Make it a family project by inviting your children to research specific animals and create information books for zoo “tours” around the house. You may learn things you didn’t know about monkeys, lions and bears .

Dress for dramatics

Foster a love of the theater with costumes and props that encourage your children to perform plays at home. This can be a year-long project, beginning with the costume “design” stage. Help your kids work with a specific budget and go shopping when costumes and accessories are on sale. Stock up on theater makeup, wigs and masks. Your kids can use them for their next amateur production. Store the theater goods and costumes in a plastic bin while the kids prepare a play or movie, if they have access to a video camera. When it’s time for the dress rehearsal, the kids will have everything they need to put on an exciting show.

Rated R for Ryan? Gangster Squad takes audiences on a gun-toting, high-stakes ride through 1949 L.A. It was originally set to shoot into theaters later this month, but it's been reassigned to release in January and we can't wait.

High-quality action meets high-caliber impact when L.A.'s finest go up to bat against the city's most powerful crime lord.

Mickey Cohen might have the majority of the police force under his corrupt command, but Sergeant John O'Mara and Jerry Wooters round up the last rough-and-tough few to take on the dark world of drugs, guns and prostitutes inspired by the real-life history of West Coast, Mafia-driven crime.

Gosling domineers as a vindictive, no-holds-barred man on a mission looking to reclaim justice and win the heart of Grace Faraday , Cohen's beautiful, manipulative moll.

We see London, we see France, we see... wait, Kim Kardashian isn't wearing any underpants!

Kim Kardashian dons sheer skirt with no underwear

Oh, Kim Kardashian: You are seriously beautiful and have a body many women would kill for. So why do you insist on wearing unflattering outfits that are too tight and too revealing? We don't understand.

Case in point: the outfit she wore this weekend while out and about with boyfriend Kanye West. The reality star paired a weird BDSM-tinged bra top with a leather and sheer skirt. The look would be fine if she opted to wear some underwear with the skirt.

Kim Kardashian's love life turned into comic book >>

But, she didn't — and we get a full view of her butt.

At first we thought boyfriend Kanye West would be a good influence on her fashion choices, especially since he encouraged her to lay off the makeup. However, it's gone too far now and it needs to stop.

Kardashian does realize that some of her outfits are a walking catastrophe, though.

"Ok, ok, I am putting myself on the worst dress [sic] list for this outfit!" she wrote Monday on her blog. Is she talking about the sheer monstrosity? Nope! She's talking about a yellow leather jacket and black mini combo.

Kim Kardashian's life is harder than a cancer patient's >>

"I wanted a little color while I’m living in Miami, so my intentions were good, but the cut isn’t for me! You definitely need to be taller and thinner to pull this jacket style off!" she said.

"Fashion is all about experimenting to try and find your style and you have some hits and misses along the way. The mirror was lying to me this day! Where were my sisters or my boyfriend when I needed a good opinion?!"

Call us, Kim — we'll tell you whether or not something is appropriate!

Neal Schon and Michaele Salahi get engaged onstage

Neal Schon pledges to be "forever yours, faithfully" as he proposes to Michaele Salahi onstage at a Journey concert.

Neal Schon proposes to Michaele Salahi onstage

It's been a crazy year for Journey guitarist Neal Schon and former Real Housewives of D.C. Michaele Salahi. First, the White House party crasher took off, leading her husband to believe she was kidnapped. Now, the pair is set to wed after Schon proposed during a Journey concert in Baltimore on Sunday.

"I had this whole thing I was going to do," Schon told the Washington Post of proposing before playing their hit song "Faithfully."

Things didn't go exactly as planned, though.

Michaele Salahi wants to give you cheating advice >>

"I started crying," he said, prompting Salahi to start crying.

"It was the biggest 'yes' ever!" she said, showing off her 11-carat rock. "It’s big but it doesn’t look gaudy."

Their current love story started last year when Salahi ditched longtime husband Tareq Salahi.

"We are reaching to the public pleaing [sic] desperately for your help. It is our belief as of last night, that Michaele Salahi may have been kidnapped or abducted and [is] being held under duress and forced to tell persons, including authorities she is okay," the publicity-loving Tareq said at the time.

Oopsies, she wasn't kidnapped — she was just on tour with Schon and Journey. Turns out the pair had been an on-again, off-again thing.

Michaele Salahi photos turned down by Playboy >>

"It's like a fairy tale. It is, it really is," Neal told the Daily Beast of their relationship. "I'm very happy, very happy after waiting for her for 15 years. Now I want to get beyond all this media hype that Tareq has put out there. It's really quite embarrassing."

The big question: Why did she choose Tareq over the sexy rocker?

"I chose Tareq over Neal because I thought life would be less stressful living on a vineyard in Virginia," she said earlier this year. "Life on the road with a rock band... well, I thought I might not have been able to keep up."

Michaele Salahi reveals she has Multiple Sclerosis >>

Eventually, she decided she couldn't live without Schon.

"I was going crazy," she said. "Because when you want to be with someone that bad, you start to go crazy. He [Neal] sent someone to come get me. I got on a plane by myself and I just went. I just walked away from everything."

Happily ever after? We'll be watching!

Taylor Momsen is Pretty Reckless, pretty much naked

Taylor Momsen's latest The Pretty Reckless project is a naked walk through the art of spoken word. Watch as the former actress goes nude -- save for some serious eyeliner -- in "Under the Water."

Taylor Momsen

Taylor Momsen is mixing one part pop magic with one part art. Going nude in a video is sure to get the public's attention, but is the music-loving public ready to embrace a spoken art performance?

Taylor Momsen's naked bod stars in the latest video from The Pretty Reckless, entitled "Under the Water." In the video below, the I'm-no-longer-an-actress 19-year-old offers close-ups here, there and just about everywhere while made up in copious amounts of eyeliner.

Reciting lyrics from the track released on 2012's Hit Me Like a Man EP, Taylor Momsen can be heard emoting, "Lay my head under the water/Alone I pray for calmer seas/And when I wake from this dream with chains all around me/I've never been free."

Unfortunately for the former Gossip Girl star, not everyone is loving Taylor Momsen's nude performance. Multiple comments on the "Under the Water" YouTube video suggest bluntly the teen might benefit from filling out her thin frame a bit.

Taylor Momsen exposes herself in the UK >>

"Damn girl, eat some bacon or something," one well-liked comment reads. Others, however, support Taylor Momsen baring it all for art's sake.

An insightful viewer added to the discussion, "What I take from this is by stating rather then [sic] singing it was meant to show a literal meaning to the words in connection to her feelings. That the nudity was shown as a literal euphemism of being laid bare; no lies or places to hide, and showing what was the product/result of what she had been made to long endure; and as a result what she had/has become. Lastly, the eyes still being blackened as a way to show the sorrow held tightly within them and the slow and subtle death of her heart..."

Brussels sprouts recipes

Brussels sprouts are chock-full of vitamins C and K as well as folate, fiber and cancer-fighting antioxidants. When picked and prepared correctly, these hardy little orbs can be downright delicious. Think you don't like Brussels sprouts? Learn to love them with these tasty recipes that will have you and your family clamoring for more.

Choosing the best Brussels sprouts

Brussels sprouts are available fresh year-round; however, they're best from autumn to early spring. When choosing Brussels sprouts, look for those that are smaller in size, firm and dense. They should have bright-green leaves, no yellow or brown spots and no holes in them. You should pick Brussels sprouts of similar size so they'll be easier to cook evenly.

Storing Brussels sprouts

When you get your Brussels sprouts home, don't trim or wash them. Store them in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to 10 days. To freeze fresh Brussels sprouts, blanch them in boiling water for three to five minutes. They can be kept frozen for up to one year.

Before washing Brussels sprouts, trim any stems and yellow leaves from the outer surface. Wash Brussels sprouts under cold water or soak them for a few minutes. Before cooking, slice an "X" into the bottom of the sprouts to ensure even cooking.

Cooking tips for Brussels sprouts

Before you mix Brussels sprouts into a dish, you should blanch to refresh them. To do this, simply boil them in water for three to five minutes until almost fully cooked, then dunk them in an ice-water bath. The ice-water bath halts the cooking and helps the Brussels sprouts stay bright green. Be sure not to overcook them or these hardy little green gems will become mushy and tasteless and lose most of their nutritional value. Check out these great recipes even the pickiest eater will love.

Scarlett Johansson's back on the market

Scarlett Johansson has ended her relationship with Nate Naylor, making her one of the most eligible bachelorettes in Tinseltown.

Scarlett Johansson single

It looks like one of Hollywood's hottest actresses is back on the market. Scarlett Johansson and her beau, Nate Naylor, have officially gone their separate ways. The actress and the advertising executive dated for almost a year.

The couple kept most of their dating life quiet and away from prying paparazzi eyes. Even though the couple rarely appeared together for official red-carpet events, however, they were seen on a romantic vacation in Paris last August. Rumors of a breakup surfaced during the Democratic National Convention though, when Johansson was seen holding hands with her ex, Jared Leto.

At the time, her representative told Us Weekly, "Scarlett is still dating Nate. This is very innocent. Scarlett and Jared have remained friends, nothing more, nothing less."

Despite the denials from the sultry actress's camp, it seems that there was a bit of trouble brewing as their breakup occurred in the last week.

People reported from a source that Naylor was "pretty upset but the writing was on the wall. A lot of people were surprised it lasted this long."

It will be interesting to see how long Johansson stays single since she rebounded quickly from her two-year marriage to Hollywood hunk Ryan Reynolds with a fling with Sean Penn. That affair raised a lot of eyebrows since Penn was 24 years her senior. Their high-profile relationship lasted through several big events, including the White House Correspondents' Dinner, but flamed out within four months.

While nursing a broken heart, the actress has a full slate of films coming out or in the works in the next few years. Johansson will be seen as Janet Leigh in Hitchcock, and she'll be starring in the recently announced films Captain America and The Avengers 2, where she will reprise her role as Natasha Romanoff.

Estranged lovers Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were photographed together over the weekend. Reunion... or clever ploy to promote Breaking Dawn — Part II?

Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson together

God has apparently answered our prayers: Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson are in fact giving their relationship another go, judging from a photo of the two taken over the weekend.

The shot — first published on EntertainmentTonight.com — shows the grimy pair out at the Ye Rustic Inn in Los Angeles.

Kristen Stewart is a total see-you-next-Tuesday, she says >>

It's the definitive photo of the pair since Stewart admitted cheating on her Twilight boyfriend with her Snow White and the Huntsman director, Rupert Sanders. Rumors of their inevitable reunion have swirled since then, though whether it's a genuine reconciliation or to promote Breaking Dawn — Part II is another question.

Despite heartbreak, the Twilight show must go on >>

Unnamed sources have breathlessly reported every aspect of the pair's purported reconciliation. Basically, Pattinson wants to give his girlfriend another chance, but he doesn't trust her.

"Despite claims that all is rosy — he's still not completely convinced that giving their relationship another chance is the right thing to do," a source said in September.

"Although he's his own man and makes his own decisions, there are times when he thinks they are right. And there are moments when he continually asks her questions about the affair — so it's all still very tense — they have some really serious trust issues."

Fans lose it over Kristen Stewart's cheating >>

Others say it's KStew's parents who are pushing for the pair to get back together.

"It ripped her [mom's] heart in two when she saw those pictures of Kristen in a compromising situation with Rupert — and she couldn't believe what her daughter had done," a source told RadarOnline.

"As far as Jules was concerned, Kristen's relationship with Robert was a match made in heaven, and she adored him like he was her own son. At first, she struggled to understand why Kristen wanted to cheat on him."

We'll buy all of this after the movie promo is finished. Until then, we'll remain skeptical about the relationship — and hopeful for a single RPatz.

Playing for Keeps movie stills

Gerard Butler laces up his Adidas for a homely stroll through small-town America in search of a life and son he's left behind. Sorry, soccer moms, it appears Jessica Biel, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Uma Thurman have already called first dibs.

Playing for Keeps

SheKnows posted the trailer a few days back, but for the minority who may have missed it — or rather, the majority hoping to see more Butler — we wanted to share some movie stills that just went live!

"I'm playing a guy from Scotland who was at the peak of his soccer career and suddenly he's in small-town America," Butler said of his role as George in Playing for Keeps. "He's trying to put his life back together with a former relationship and his boy. He just wants him so much to be a part of his life but he doesn't know how to go about it."

Gerard Butler in Playing for Keeps

George cements his sincerity by taking on the responsibility of coaching his son's soccer team. His talent — and perhaps his looks — earn him the attention and respect of the kids and their mothers, although his ex, Stacie , isn't entirely convinced.

Jessica Biel in Playing for Keeps

"It's a great, funny, powerful, emotional movie that really makes you reflect on life," Butler said.

"This movie is filled with so much emotion and so many things left unsaid," Biel added.

Will Butler score the ultimate goal?

Watch and see Dec. 7.

Ben Affleck hits car but leaves his friend's number

The actor hit a parked car last weekend. As the paparazzi descended, he tried to do the right thing... almost.

Ben AffleckAnderson Live! seems to be the new place celebrities feel comfortable making confessions, and Ben Affleck is the latest. He told the host that last weekend he accidentally hit a parked car in Santa Monica but only clipped the "vehicle's wing mirror," said SFGate.

Affleck did attempt to do the right thing by waiting for the driver. But he said that as paparazzi started to surround him, he didn't want to wait any longer, so he decided to leave an apology note for the car's owner.

"Affleck was caught on camera looking sheepish as he delivered the message," said SFGate. The note reportedly read, "Hi, Knocked off your mirror! Very sorry! Will cover everything — Ben."

But when he left the note, he didn't leave his own number. Instead, he told Anderson Cooper, he left the phone number of a friend.

"I left a friend's phone number; she is no longer a friend," Affleck said, according to SFGate. "She was like, 'Really, you thought it would be fun for me to have, like, 75 calls all day long?'"

In all fairness, if the media knows what the note says, then they obviously checked it for Affleck's phone number. So he probably did the right thing, at least if he didn't want to change his phone number. But changing a phone number might be much easier than getting your friend to forgive you for having to change her phone number.

Affleck is pretty on top of the world right now. His new movie Argo, which he directed and starred in, made almost $20 million at the box office in its opening weekend, coming in just behind Taken 2which came in at $21.9 million. The film has also gotten Oscar buzz and will probably be a regular at the awards shows this season.

'Fearless Felix' free-falls to Earth

Yesterday was one for the record books as an Austrian skydiver proved that not everyone has given up on space adventures.

Yesterday, while the space shuttle Endeavour slowly trudged through the streets of Los Angeles, symbolizing the demise of a publicly funded space program, Felix Baumgartner soared high above Earth. The Austrian skydiver, part of the Red Bull Stratos team, shattered records and proved that privately funded space exploration might be the next wave as investors and corporations keep the space race alive.

The 43-year-old leaped 24 miles back to Earth, not only setting a record for the highest human free fall but also becoming the first skydiver to break the speed of sound without any sort of aircraft. Millions watched the event live on YouTube as he fell to the New Mexican desert at 833.9 mph. The jump also shattered records on the Google-owned site as 8 million people sat in front of their computers to watch it happen.

The 4-minute 20-second jump had viewers sitting on the edge of their seats as Baumgartner dropped 128,000 feet from the sky. It was harrowing to watch, but the skydiver recounted that it was even scarier in the air.

"The exit was perfect but then I started spinning slowly. I thought I'd just spin a few times and that would be that, but then I started to speed up. It was really brutal at times. I thought for a few seconds that I'd lose consciousness. I didn't feel a sonic boom because I was so busy just trying to stabilize myself... It was really a lot harder than I thought it was going to be."

The Austrian's parachute opened up around 8,000 feet, and it was smooth sailing from there down to the ground. His relieved family watched from the Red Bull control center, and tears flowed freely as soon as they realized Baumgartner would successfully complete his mission.

While some critics dismissed the event as a big publicity stunt or questioned the $65 million expense, those naysayers were silenced yesterday. Baumgartner proved the strength of the human spirit and the inspired dreams of future scientific achievements. He truly lives up to his nickname, "Fearless Felix."

Glenn Beck: True patriot and fashion designer

Glenn Beck wants to outfit the men in your life with denim George Washington would have worn if jeans had been around back then.

Glenn Beck designs new jeans

Glenn Beck is good at a lot of things: calling President Obama a Marxist, advising you to invest in gold, and telling you the world is basically going to implode soon. But is he a good designer of men's jeans? Apparently so.

Glenn Beck, this concludes your
broadcast day
 >>

On Monday, the radio host introduced his new line of denim for men called 1791 Supply & Co. The collection is a nod to made-in-America craftsmanship.

"It is... difficult to find American products that you can be profitable on and are good quality. We don't do it in America anymore," he said Monday on FOX, according to the Washington Post.

Beck added that he wanted to "reclaim the lost art of making quality American clothing."

The line — made exclusively in the United States — features two styles: classic and straight. The designs are pretty plain, but they should appeal nicely to the demographic. Beck's official website says he was instrumental in the design "from the stitching, to the buttons, and to the quality of the rivets."

Meghan McCain gets naked, to Glenn Beck's dismay >>

Designer Tim Didonato was the "point-man on the design, working with Glenn to make sure his vision for the new line was executed," the website reads. "He has been branding all of the labels on the back of the jeans by hand, as well as managing all of the details of the look of the jeans."

But why does Beck care about jeans? Apparently, the whole thing started last year when Levi's aired an ad that Beck felt "promoted revolution." It's a big stretch — if anything, the ad was meant to play off the Occupy Wall Street movement that was going on at the time.

Don't look for these in WalMart, though: Glenn Beck's jeans will be exclusively available at 1791.com for $130.

Walking Dead Season 3 premiere is a ratings monster!

The Walking Dead is back with a bang. The zombie drama's returned with a record-breaking Season 3 premiere. Last night belonged to AMC, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors.

The Walking Dead Season 3 premiere

On Sunday night, amid stiff competition, The Walking Dead made a triumphant return. After months away, the AMC drama proved it was cable's top dog. The Season 3 opener pulled in 10.9 million viewers for its initial 9 p.m. broadcast. But that's not even the impressive part.

The Walking Dead
>>

According to The New York Times, The Walking Dead had a 18–49 demo rating of 5.8 with 7.3 million stemming from that audience. When it comes to scripted entertainment television, that's a major feat. The only shows to achieve close to that are network giants like Modern Family , The Big Bang Theory and The Voice .

The Walking Dead takes on Halloween >>

With the exception of sports programming, The Walking Dead is in a league of its own. If you include AMC's multiple airings of the episode, its total viewers jump to 15.2 million. The series is currently the highest rated drama in basic cable history. That's a big deal considering a chunk of AMC's subscribers are MIA due to a dispute with The Dish Network. Could you imagine the numbers if that weren't a factor?

The Walking Dead's ratings are more than those of this year's premieres of Mad Men , Breaking Bad , The Killing and Hell on Wheels combined.

If you were one of the millions who tuned in last night, you were thoroughly entertained. The premiere was filled with fast-paced action that set the stage for what's to come. After last year's lukewarm season, you can tell the writers are kicking it up a notch.

President Obama gives his 2 cents on American Idol feud

While many have taken sides over Team Nicki or Team Mariah, no one expected President Obama to weigh in. But he shared his opinion with a Miami radio host.

President Barack ObamaAmerican Idol has become such an important part of our culture that when something goes wrong — or, let's face it, something happens — on the show, a lot of different people from all areas of society like to weigh in.

When judge Nicki Minaj was caught on tape threatening her co-judge Mariah Carey, the usual people shared their opinions, including those involved with the show and with the singers. But since then, others have decided to give their two cents. Just last week, Fleetwood Mac singer Stevie Nicks said she would have "strangled" Minaj to death if she were Carey.

But now, a very unexpected voice has decided to share his opinion on the feud. President Obama spoke with Miami radio host Michael Yo about how he feels about both singers.

"I think they are going to be able to sort it out, I am confident," he said, according to the New York Daily News. "I am all about bringing people together, working for the same cause."

The commander in chief said the show will make the two friends and that it's important that they have the same goals in mind. He also said he'd met Carey "and she's a wonderful lady," he said.

He then added that while he hasn't met Minaj, what he does know about her is all good. According to the NY Daily News, he said, "Nicki I don't know, but I've got her on my iPod."

President Obama then added a note that he probably meant as a compliment but came out more like advice to the two singers: "I think both are outstanding artists and they are going to be able to make sure they're moving forward and not going backwards."

American Idol doesn't air until January, and there hasn't been much more talk from the show about the feud or how things are going on set. But until someone says that someone has quit, it looks like the new season will be airing.

Holly Madison's boobs & baby bump make public debut

Holly Madison is pregnant with her first child, but we don't see much of a belly on her. We can totally tell when we look at her boobs, though.

Holly Madison is mega pregnant

Former Girls Next Door star Holly Madison is five months' pregnant, but you'd never know it judging from the outfit she wore to the Forever Home Family Picnic in Las Vegas over the weekend.

What we do notice? Her boobs. Seriously... those things are huge.

Hef's former main squeeze announced her pregnancy — the first for her and boyfriend Pasquale Rotella — in August. So, how's pregnancy been for the first-time mom?

Holly Madison insures breasts for $1 million >>

"It's actually easier than I thought," the 33-year-old told E! News. "I haven't had any of the crazy side effects... No morning sickness or anything yet. So I've been lucky!"

She even has healthy cravings.

"I crave blueberries all the time," Madison confessed. "So I'm making blueberry muffins and blueberry smoothies, so knock on wood my cravings stay healthy."

Not that she doesn't want the bad stuff, though. The Peepshow star told US Weekly that she instructed the BF to keep her from delving into sweets face-first.

"I told [Pasquale] no food-craving runs in the middle of the night! No chocolate cake!" she said in August. "I don't want to let myself go, then have a tough time getting back into shape. I try to eat vegetable and fruit smoothies."

Fans urge Holly Madison to adopt a puppy, not a baby >>

Workouts are easy and simple, she said.

"I've [always] hated cardio and the only things I ever liked at all were yoga and Pilates, so now I get the yoga videos in, and they're super mellow," she added to US Weekly. "To a workout freak, they'd probably be like, 'This is so stupid, this isn't even a workout.' But I'm loving it! It's right at my pace."

Not everything is all rosy, though: Rotella is facing almost 14 years in prison stemming from federal charges of bribery, embezzlement, conspiracy and conflict of interest. He's denying any wrongdoing, and his lawyers have said that the charges are "politically motivated and publicity driven. Mr. Rotella will vigorously defend himself to clear his good name and looks forward to being completely vindicated."

Leona Lewis says Rihanna's 'We Found Love' was hers first

Former X Factor contestant Leona Lewis recorded the song but decided she didn't want it as her first single, so for whatever reason it went to Rihanna. Is the British singer a little jealous?

Leona Lewis

British singer Leona Lewis told the Daily Star that Rihanna's hit with Calvin Harris, "We Found Love," was originally her song. And it wasn't just her song — she actually recorded it with Calvin Harris before Rihanna did.

"I worked with Calvin and we recorded 'We Found Love.' But he went touring with Rihanna and she ended up releasing it," Lewis told the newspaper. "It was the same version and production but mine's better."

She hints at the fate of the song: Either she lost out to Rihanna, or she just decided not to make it her own.

"I didn't commit to it because I wanted 'Trouble' to be my first single so I think that was another reason they went with Rihanna," she said.

The singer may be kicking herself now, as the song ended up selling millions of copies. According to the Daily Mail, the song spent three weeks at the top of the UK charts last year. But she also said it's not abnormal for this to happen.

"There are so many songs I've recorded, only to hear other people singing them. It happens all the time."

Lewis said she still has the version of the song she recorded but she wants to make sure no one will ever hear it.

"I still have the recording but I'd never leak it," she said. "That's so unprofessional."

She is not without envy over the success of Rihanna and the song, but she also has a sense of perspective.

"It was a bit annoying to see how big a hit it was around the world but if I'd released it maybe it wouldn't have done as well."

Lewis is not doing badly by any means. She released her newest album, Glassheart, Oct. 7 and will be setting out on tour to support the album in April 2013.

Lisa Marie Presley sings with Elvis in new video

The singer has always tried to pave her own path, but at age 44, it looks like she wants to embrace her legacy. She is releasing a video in which she sings one of her famous father's songs along with him.

Lisa Marie Presley

It's hard to believe, but Lisa Marie Presley is now two years older than her father Elvis was when he died, and she now fully understands the weight of her last name.

"When Lisa Marie Presley said she was done fighting her legacy as the only child of rock 'n' roll king Elvis, she apparently meant it," said Reuters.

She did this by first performing at the concert commemorating the 35th anniversary of her father's death. And now she'll be releasing a video of her new song — rather, duet — with Elvis Presley.

"Presley... recorded 'I Love You Because' in July 1954 at Sun Studio in Memphis, the same time he recorded 'That's All Right,'" Reuters said.

The song ended up on his first album, but producer Sam Phillips didn't feel it was right for his first single.

Lisa Marie's collaboration was not exactly planned.

"Presley... recorded her vocals to the song in August at the suggestion of producer T-Bone Burnett, as a special song for fans," said Reuters.

She then performed it at the anniversary concert in August, where 25,000 people heard it, but she never expected anything to happen with the song after that. But then, the singer decided to make a video for the song.

"We were really moved when we saw this video," Leslie Fram, CMT's senior vice president of music strategy, told Reuters. "Lisa Marie and her team were thrilled and so gracious to allow this to be shared."

Other Presley family members, including Lisa Marie's kids, will appear in the video. Photos of Lisa Marie with Elvis will also appear.

CMT and CMT.com will be debuting the video on Thursday, Oct. 18, but you can buy the single digitally on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The full video will be available on iTunes on Oct. 25.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler set to host the 2013 Golden Globes

The awards shows are majorly competing with each other this year, which only brings good things to fans. Two comedic women will be hosting one of the big ones this year.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

The 2013 Golden Globes just got a little more hilarious. Actually, a lot more hilarious. The awards show announced this morning that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be hosting this year.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, landing the two funny women was close to a miracle for producers.

"The hosts team is something of a coup for the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn, which awards the Globes each January, and for Dick Clark Productions, which produces the high-rated show for NBC," said the magazine.

Both Fey and Poehler star in comedy shows on NBC, Fey on 30 Rock and Poehler on Parks and Recreation. They have also worked together on multiple projects, including Baby Mama and Mean Girls, and were co-stars on Saturday Night Live together.

"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year's festivities is a major coup," Paul Telegdy with NBC Entertainment told the Hollywood Reporter in a statement. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama."

It looks like the move was another sign of industry infighting between the major awards shows.

"The hiring of Fey, 42, and Poehler, 41, two well-known comic talents with big fan bases — and large followings among women, who make up the majority of awards show viewers — could be seen as a direct shot by the Globes at the Oscars, which went with a less-known and more male-skewing host in Seth MacFarlane," said the Hollywood Reporter. "In addition, the Academy, in a move perceived by some in Hollywood to be an attack on the Globes, moved up its voting deadline this year so that the Oscar nominations announcement will take place Jan. 10, three days before the Globes ceremony."

But the battles among the shows could end up being great news for fans, as they are all trying to get the best talent possible. The 2013 Golden Globes will air Jan. 13, 2013.
