Critics Can't Handle Meghan Markle's Bare Shoulders at Post-Wedding Debut

Throughout Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s courtship, the new Duchess of Sussex became synonymous with breaking royal protocol. And while it was assumed that Markle would have to fall in line after her royal nuptials, Markle’s bare-shouldered ensemble at the Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday has critics buzzing that the American beauty might be a subversive bride.

More: All the Photos You Have to See From Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Wedding

Markle attended the annual event alongside her husband, Prince Harry, and the rest of the royal family. This particular tradition is all part of a celebration centered on Queen Elizabeth’s birthday (which actually occurred on April 21).

At the ceremony, Markle looked stunning in a blush-hued bespoke Carolina Herrera dress topped with a coordinating Philip Treacy hat. However, some people felt that the mere act of showing off one’s shoulders was “wholly inappropriate” for such an occasion.

“I do feel her choice of an off-the-shoulder dress was pushing it for HRH Queen Elizabeth’s birthday celebration,” one critic said, per Page Six. “I have a feeling she’s going to push the limits a little too much?!” Another detractor insisted that such a dress was out of line for the Trooping “or any official engagement.”

Evidently, though, the joke’s on them — sources say that not only does Prince Harry approve of Markle’s style, but he also actually helps her choose the outfits she wears at royal engagements.

According to The Daily Mail, Prince Harry has been acting as his lovely wife’s unofficial stylist for quite some time. “Meghan is always asking Harry’s opinion. She really wants his views,” a source reportedly told The Mail. “He gives his views on what he thinks looks best, rather than helping her follow royal protocol on hemlines or anything like that. The joke is that Harry is Meghan’s surprise stylist.”

Prince Harry is even rumored to accompany Markle when she attends meetings with her favorite fashion designers, like Stella McCartney.

In other adorable news about this royal couple’s sweet bond, Harry found another way to help Markle fit in at the Trooping the Colour ceremony over the weekend. In a moment caught by the eagle-eyed harry_meghan_updates Instagram account, the good prince clues Markle in on an important piece of protocol. “Do it?” Markle appears to ask, to which her husband responds, “Yes.” At that point, Markle smiles and offers her best curtsy.

So, although Markle may have chosen a nontraditional ensemble for the Trooping the Colour parade, it’s clear the Duchess of Sussex is putting forth the effort to adapt to her new world. And the rest of the world, well, they’re all just enjoying watching such a pure love story play out on the global stage.

Chip and Joanna Gaines announced in January that they're expecting their fifth child, who will join big sibs Drake, 13, Ella, 11, Duke, 9, and Emmie Kay, 8. They later shared that the newest addition to the family will be a boy, and Chip is looking for baby name suggestions that begin with the letter D — so if you've got any ideas, now's the time to share them. I mean, wouldn't "Named Chip and Joanna Gaines' son" be an excellent addition to any résumé?

Regardless of his name, we really hope Baby Gaines is destined to be a bookworm. No pressure or anything, but he's got lots of great reads waiting for him when he arrives.

Neil Patrick Harris May Have Insulted This Actor at the Tonys

Live-tweeting during an award show can be tricky business, especially when you're trying to take your comments to the next level, maybe by being extra insightful or possibly a little snarky; things like tone can get lost in translation. That might have been the case (or maybe not) with four-time Tony winner and previous Tonys host Neil Patrick Harris, who was in rare, moody form when he tweeted something potentially rude — or was it just a joke? — about Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Rachel Bloom during Sunday night's Tonys broadcast.

More: Neil Patrick Harris & Family Win Halloween, as Usual

It's unlike Harris to be so publicly shady about someone he has no discernible beef with, but that's exactly what it looked like when he took aim at Bloom on Sunday night. A few hours into the show, Harris tweeted, "Who is the woman in the top hat backstage at @TheTonyAwards? Gideon remarked that she says ‘like’ and ‘oh my god’ a lot. I’m confused...," referencing his son's comment about the way Bloom was speaking.

Entertainment Weekly confirms that Bloom was indeed the person backstage that Harris was referencing and that she was doing something fairly normal for an awards show: performing comedic bits at different points in the broadcast to add a little levity to the proceedings. It's not that controversial and it doesn't really feel like something Harris needs to take a dim view of by way of his son's commentary. And yet...

Shortly after Harris fired off his possibly rude tweet about the way she speaks, Bloom attempted to kill him with kindness and responded with a reminder that they actually knew each other and that she was a big fan of his.

She gracefully tweeted in response, "I’m a big fan of yours. We’ve met numerous times and my husband, Dan Gregor, wrote for How I Met Your Mother for 5 years. Notably, he wrote the episode where your character finally meets his father."

Harris's tone did an about-face after being somewhat called out in the politest way by Bloom, choosing to take a more conversational, friendly route with her. Was he trying to make up for what could be misconstrued as a rude, ignorant tweet? Or was this all just part of some great, jokey bit that flew right over fans' heads?

"Indeed! Well said," Harris replied to Bloom in the most recent tweet during their exchange. "Thanks for the reminder. How was backstage?" Bloom did not publicly reply to Harris' question.

Some Twitter supporters quickly sided with Bloom, leaving comments in a thread on Harris' initial tweet pointing out just how awkward and rude Harris appeared to be with his tweet, while others offered that this was just a bit between the two stars and they were really just having some fun.

While Harris' tweet seems catty at first glance, maybe that's really not the case. Maybe it was a big, fun bit that we all missed, with Harris pulling a Mariah Carey for comedic effect. Maybe he truly didn't recognize Bloom and just got caught up in the moment, firing off a hot take without thinking. No matter what was truly intended, this whole exchange doesn't reflect very well on Harris. It might be time for an explanation... and maybe an apology note.

Jameela Jamil's 'I Weigh' Movement Challenges Us to Reconsider How We Value People

Jameela Jamil is not afraid of taking on body-shamers. At the age of 26, the actor — now best known for her role on NBC's The Good Place, but at the time, a BBC Radio 1 DJ — addressed the House of Commons of the United Kingdom about "the disgusting way we value women," she tells SheKnows. On top of that, she has released three plus-size clothing lines to ensure women of all sizes and shapes have a space in high fashion and has been publicly campaigning for body positivity for nearly a decade.

So when she saw an Instagram post earlier this year featuring the female members of the Kardashian-Jenner family each labeled with their body weight, Jamil (now 32) was not a fan.

Jameela twitter

In response, she posted a photo to her own Instagram page listing all the ways she valued her life, including her relationship, friends, job and financial independence, among others.

Without any prompting from her, by the end of the day that she posted her "I Weigh" photo, more than 1,000 other women had done the same thing on their own social media feeds. At that point, Jamil knew it was more than a singular Instagram post: It was a movement that needed a home. In March 2018, she created the I Weigh Instagram account, which shares several posts from people around the world every day.

"I only started the Instagram account because there were so many amazing posts and I didn’t want them to disappear," Jamil explains. "I wanted them to live somewhere and it turned into an online museum of self-love."

It turned into an online museum of self-love.

More: Why Are We So Fascinated by Celebrity Body-Shaming?

Interest in the I Weigh movement shows no signs of slowing down, either. Jamil says that she receives 50 to 100 posts each day from women and men around the world "from every age, every background, every size and shape and height."

Although she says she didn't start out with the intention of creating a movement, the timing was right. "I think it coincides with a moment where women are starting to take a look at what’s going on around us and realize that we’re being treated very unfairly, even in this day and age," Jamil notes.

Not only was it the right time for this particular brand of body positivity, but the fact that it was Jamil's genuine response to women being valued by our body weight that really resonated with people.

"It was very organic. It was very from-the-heart," she explains. "I was just very, very upset and I felt like my gender was belittled yet again. And I think that a lot of people feel that way, so it just resonated with them. And the fact that it felt real and didn’t feel contrived or like a publicity stunt must have spoken to people. Then everyone just sort of joined me."

Even though we all have these authentic not-going-to-take-it-anymore realizations, Jamil knew she was in a position to use her social media following for good.

"I think we all have those moments, and I think it’s just very rare that someone with a platform just says it, because we’re all so brainwashed into conforming to it that we’re too scared to fight back," she says. "But this industry doesn’t mean enough to me to be a bad role model. Nothing means enough to me to abuse my position and not speak up for those being damaged."

This industry didn't mean enough to me

Jamil hasn't always felt this way about her body. She says that she had severe anorexia between the ages of 14 and 17 thanks to the images of women's bodies she saw in magazines and on television.

"It was just constant subliminal messaging and shaming when it came to having any fat on your body whatsoever and not just succumbing to the pornographic patriarchal gaze," she says.

Then around five years ago, when she gained 75 pounds quickly as a result of taking asthma medication, Jamil says she was ridiculed publicly by photographers and magazines for about four months. She was offered everything from weight loss DVDs to exercise campaigns and promptly "just told everyone, en masse, to 'fuck off.'”

"I said, 'I’m not going to go to the gym. I’m not going to go on a diet. I’m just going to see what happens, and maybe this is my body now, and I’m going to embrace it,'" she explains.

Jamil says that she knew that if she lost a lot of weight really quickly, it would send the message that there's something wrong with being curvaceous and that it's something to be ashamed of. Instead, she "held onto it" — the weight, that is — as long as she could. It came off itself, slowly and naturally, over five or six years without her doing anything other than making sure she was eating healthily.

More: Kelly Clarkson Has No Time for Twitter Body-Shamers

And when it comes to the I Weigh movement, Jamil is quick to point out that she feels as though she has been healed by the people who have participated and has never felt so strong and comfortable in her own skin.

"I didn’t make the movement: Women made the movement," she clarifies. "I sort of lit the fuse, basically, and then the movement was taken over by everyone else. This is not my movement — it’s our movement, collectively. It is a collective of people who’ve just had enough. They’ve all woken up and realized that they did not have a strong perspective on their self-worth, ever."

Jamil — who is currently working on a book she describes as "a revolution against shame" — asks others to post their own I Weigh images and to encourage their favorite celebrities and role models to do the same: "Let’s take this as far as we can together so that we can finally have enough power and influence to change everything at the top."

Mindy Kaling Gave the Absolute Best Commencement Speech of the Year

Mindy Kaling can do anything. She's an actor. She's a writer. She's a director. She's a published author. She's a TV show creator. And now she's a graduation speech giver.

On Sunday, Kaling delivered the 2018 Dartmouth commencement speech. As an alumna of the New Hampshire-based Ivy League college and with all that success and experience under her belt, she probably felt some pressure to deliver inspiring words of wisdom to the class of 2018, all while making them laugh. Well, mission accomplished.

More:  All the Celebrity Commencement Speeches of 2018

She gave one of the best commencement speeches we've heard all year. She was funny (no surprise, whatsoever), inserted pop-culture references, slammed the current president of the United States and even joked about herself, including being one of the few famous Indian women currently on American television.

"Before I get any further, I should actually probably clarify who I am for the parents and grandparents in the audience who are thinking to themselves, 'Who is this loud Indian woman? Is that the girl from Quantico? She looks so much worse in person,'" she said. "No, no, I'm not Priyanka Chopra, not even Padma Lakshmi. I am the other Indian woman we've allowed to be on television, Mindy Kaling."

For a good portion of her speech, Kaling told a lot of jokes, which she did extremely well. She had most everyone laughing, because that's what she does best. What she said and how she said it will make you wish you'd had someone as amazing as Kaling speaking during your college graduation ceremony.

"Now we're reaching the part of the speech where I'm supposed to tell you something uplifting, like 'Follow your dreams,'" she said at one point. And just when you thought Kaling was going to get all serious, she continued with the jokes. "In general, advice isn't actually an effective way to change your life. If all it took to make your life great was hearing amazing advice, then everyone who watched TED Talks would be a millionaire. So don't trust any one story of how to become successful. As Madeleine Albright said at my commencement... see, I don't remember anything, and I did just fine."

Then, she provided some advice in the form of a list that she deems helpful once anyone enters the real world. The list is as follows:

1. "First, remove 'proficient at Word' from your résumé. That is ridiculous."

2. "Most of your post-college life is simply filling out forms. Car insurance, health insurance, W-2s, W-4s, 1099s. Guess what? None of us know what any of those forms mean, but you will fill out a hundred of them before you die."

3. "You never need more than one pancake. Trust me on this. Cartoons have trained us to want a giant stack of those bad boys, but order one first and then just see how you feel later."

4. "This one is just for guys: When you go on dates, act as if every woman you're talking to is a reporter for an online publication that you are scared of. One shouldn't need the threat of public exposure and scorn to treat women well; but if that's what it's gonna take, fine. Date like everyone's watching, because we are."

5. "And this might be the most important — buy a toilet plunger. Trust me on this. Don't wait until you need a plunger to buy a plunger."

As you can already tell, her speech was a smash hit, but she really hit the nail on the head when she spoke directly to the women in the audience. "I thought I might take a second to speak to the ladies in the audience," she said, before adding with a zing, "Guys, take a break, you don't have to pay attention during this part. Maybe spend the next 30 seconds thinking about all the extra money you'll make in your life for doing the same job as a woman." Boom. Mic drop.

Then she said to the female graduates, "Hey, girls, we need to do a better job of supporting each other. I know I am guilty of it too. We live in a world where it seems like there's only room for one of us at the table. So when another woman shows up, we think, 'Oh, my God, she's gonna take the one woman spot. That was supposed to be mine.' But that's just what certain people want us to do."

She continued, "Wouldn't it be better if we worked together to dismantle a system that makes us feel like there's limited room for us? Because when women work together we can accomplish anything, even stealing the world's most expensive diamond necklace from the Met Gala, like in Ocean's 8, a movie starring me, which opens in theaters June 8."

Mindy Kaling, The Mindy Project, Beyonce Pad Thai

Basically, Kaling wants women not to be afraid to toot their own horns and for them to do it while supporting other women, because it isn't an easy world for us. If we're uplifting each other in the process, well, imagine what we all could do side by side.

She ended her speech by empowering everyone in the audience. "I've covered a lot of ground today, not all of it was serious, but I wanted to leave you with this: I was not someone who should have the life I have now, and yet I do," she said honestly. "I was sitting in the chair you are literally sitting in right now and I just whispered, 'Why not me?' [This is also the title of her 2015 book.] And I kept whispering it for 17 years; and here I am, someone that this school deemed worthy enough to speak to you at your commencement."

Finally, she concluded, "Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do something, but especially not yourself. Go conquer the world. Just remember this: Why not you? You made it this far."

Mindy Kaling

The way she used her comedic talents, but also uplifted the audience, especially the women, is further proof Kaling can do no wrong. You can watch her entire speech above, and trust us, you'll want to watch it from start to finish.

Every year at graduations across the country, wedged between the pomp and circumstance and the parties is one important rite of passage: the commencement address. Not until these inspirational words have been spoken can the class of 2018 move their tassels, fling their caps and run off to join the great big world. And every year, more celebrities join the ranks of invited speakers and put their public address skills to the test. It's less of an audience than the Oscars but with a much longer time limit, so it's a chance for celebs to really bare their hearts. Here's a look at who is participating in all the festivities this year and what they've been saying.

Mindy Kaling gave a hilarious and heartwarming speech to the Dartmouth Class of 2018 on Sunday, June 10. After cracking jokes about the fact that she's not actually Priyanka Chopra or Padma Lakshmi but "the other Indian woman we've allowed to be on television" and just how cold New Hampshire (where Dartmouth is located) gets in the winter, Kaling went on to discuss how her life has turned out since graduating in 2001 and dispensing life advice to the newly minted graduates.

Among the most memorable advice she doled out was the #MeToo-focused advice to the young men: "When you go on dates, act as if every woman you’re talking to is a reporter for an online publication that you are scared of. One shouldn’t need the threat of public exposure and scorn to treat women well, but if that’s what it’s going to take, fine. Date like everyone’s watching, because we are."

To the women, she gave these important remarks about working together: "Hey, girls, we need to do a better job of supporting each other. I know that I am guilty of it too. We live in a world where it seems like there’s only room for one of us at the table. Wouldn’t it be better if we worked together to dismantle a system that makes us feel like there’s limited room for us?"

On June 3, Jimmy Fallon appeared at the commencement ceremony for the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Class of 2018 in Sunrise, Florida. The ceremony had already earned attention because this senior class was the first to graduate in the wake of the tragic school shooting that occurred on Valentine's Day earlier in the year. Fallon's speech was filled with messages of love and hope, but also a little humor.

Capitalizing on a viral video, one of Fallon's opening quips went like this: "Today, you're graduating from high school. You should feel incredibly proud of yourselves. That doesn't mean you should rest on your laurels — or your yannies."

But Fallon went on to more heartfelt sentiments, remarking, "When something feels hard, remember that it gets better. Choose to move forward. Don't let anything stop you."

Nixon gave a tribute to her mother, talking about the woman who taught her courage throughout her life and modeled a can-do attitude. She credited her mother’s approach to a cancer diagnosis for giving her the faith to approach her own, later diagnosis head-on. She also encouraged graduates to “never doubt that you can make a space big enough for yourself in this world” and to know that their voices are important as they advocate for their patients and for better health care.

The human rights lawyer told the crowd it was her first commencement address and asked them to bear with her. But there was little need for that, as Clooney eloquently discussed current affairs she is passionate about, telling grads that courage is needed now more than ever. She cited infringement on women’s rights and LGBTQ issues and freedom of the press as examples of areas that need courageous leadership.

What’s made headlines in regard to Jimmy Carter's commencement speech (as seen in the above video, which starts an hour into Liberty University's ceremony) is his joke about how the crowd at his speech was even bigger than the crowd in 2017 for President Donald Trump’s graduation address. “I don’t know if President Trump will admit that or not,” Carter said. He went on to talk about the human rights work he’s so well known for and to encourage graduates to learn to live in peace, considering all people equals.

Clinton injected lots of political jokes into her address to the graduates, including a not-so-subtle barb aimed at President Trump and the investigation into Russian meddling in the election. To an audience known for wearing outlandish hats to the ceremony, Clinton held up a Russian black fur hat, saying “If you can’t beat them, join them.” Ultimately, however, she encouraged grads to keep fighting for the things they find right, noting that it’s always worth it. (Also worth watching: this hilarious video from the Yale commencement, in which two students performed a shtick so funny, the clip has garnered millions of views on YouTube. Hillary seems thoroughly entertained!)

Ava DuVernay — Cornell University, May 26

Ana-Duvernay

The award-winning director/producer encouraged the crowd to take charge of their own destiny. "What will be your story, your movie?" she said. "You’re the director." She recounted the road that took her from being an African studies/English double major at UCLA to speaking at Cornell now. "The numbers never supported it,” she said, referring to her dreams. “I’m from Compton. I’m a woman. I’m black. I never went to film school. The odds that I would be doing what I’m doing were infinitesimal.”

DuVernay didn't hold back on tough topics, bringing up the University's past experiences with racial tensions with the comment "I stand here before you as a filmmaker, as you stand on the edge of your future, in a place where in the past, it would never have been imagined by the founders of this institution that I would – or could – stand here and speak to you in this way." She also told the crowd her journey gives her hope for the future of our world, saying, "What gives me hope… is the knowledge that there is precedent — precedent for everything that everyone is experiencing. To be hopeless is to disregard history.”

Benicio del Toro — Mercersburg Academy, May 27

Benicio del Toro

Benicio del Toro, an '85 graduate of the prep school, told the story of the road that led to his acting career and the many people who told him he was following a pipe dream, before prompting students to figure out their convictions and passions in order to find their real calling. "Everyone is going to draw lines for you, particularly when they think you should have achieved something or proved something or become something by a specific time. But it's your job to reimagine these lines," he said. "Don't do something for trophies or medals," he told graduates. "Do it because it will make your life better, or someone else's. Don't to it because it's easy," he said, before joking, "Even though I've done that before."

"Try to understand where other people are coming from," urged, referencing the many people who showed concern for him on his path to becoming an actor. "As the Native American saying goes 'To know a man walk a mile in his shoes."

Del Toro pulled from the work of American painter Mary Rogers to direct students to look within before listening to the voices around them. "Mary said that every human being has a song in their head and that it lingers in the back of our minds. She talked about letting that song sing to us," he said. He also recalled the contributions that young people are currently making in society and lauded this generation for having the courage to see themselves as leaders.

Hilary Swank — Savannah College of Art and Design, June 1

Hilary Swank FYC for Trust

Hilary Swank, who took flak for being a "high-school dropout" while promoting her film Freedom Writers back in 2007, delivered a commencement speech upon also receiving an honorary doctorate from the Savannah College of Art and Design on June 1.

Swank spoke to new graduates about paying attention to what lights you up, saying "I knew I wanted to be an actor when I was 8 years old. My favorite teacher had us write a skit and perform it in front of the class. When I was up there, I felt time stand still, and every cell of my body came alive. News alert: When you feel something like this in your life, pay attention. It’s the universe telling you you’re onto something."

She also explained that she believes her achievements were the mere results of staying true to four guiding lights:

"One, make a choice and then make it happen… Every. Single. Day. Sometimes, that means getting out of your own way, whatever that might be: your mindset, a fear, a seeming obstacle, a 'setback' …whatever. It doesn’t matter where you’re from, who you’ve been or where you are now. All that matters is that you make choices every single day to work towards your dream.

"Two, inevitably, the universe is going to throw some very ugly curveballs at you. No matter what they look like, never assume any of them are bad... Be on the look out for the opportunities that are about to present themselves.

"Three, ignore what everyone else is doing or what society is telling you to do. Don’t let anyone tell you 'how' something needs to be done for you to achieve your goals — including me! Don’t worry about how fast or slow you’re going compared to others. Speed doesn’t matter. It’s how present you are in each moment that matters. There are a million different paths to your end goal. Any path you choose will likely be long and full of ups and downs, so choose the one that brings you the most joy and makes you feel most alive. And then pursue that goal with all the grit, passion and determination you can muster. And whatever you do, don’t ever give up.

"And fourth — and this is the most important one — remember that none of your goals are worth anything if you lose perspective on your humanity. At the end of it all, when you’re lying on your deathbed, what matters most is who’s around you and that you’re able to take comfort in the fact that you moved through life with grace, kindness and integrity."

A Tribute to This Is Us' Jack Pearson on Father's Day

With Father's Day right around the corner, it only seems appropriate to honor the best dad currently on television: Jack Pearson.

There haven't been enough father figures like Jack on TV. He has a huge heart. He's caring. He's sensitive. He cries. He loves being a dad. His kids are his world.

Jack's not the typical dad on a drama or comedy, and that's why he's so special. He has shown time and again why it's OK for a man to be a loving father and dedicated husband and to have emotions.

Jack Pearson

Jack Pearson

Far too often, men are taught that they can't and shouldn't have feelings. A man with emotions is seen as weak. From childhood, boys learn that in order to be masculine, they need to be tough and they shouldn't shed tears.

More: This Is Us Is Helping Me Grieve My Deceased Brother

Jack Pearson was a construction worker. He liked to get his hands dirty. He loved football. Camping was his go-to vacation. He fought in the Vietnam War. These are more markers of masculinity.

To some, however, being capable of expressing himself and wanting to be a great husband and father are what makes a man manly. That's who Jack was. The type of husband and father he was also showed the Big Three what a man should be, how he should act and how he should care for his loved ones.

Jack Pearson #3

Jack Pearson #3

Jack was the husband and father anyone would want. You could see who he truly was in how he treated his wife, Rebecca. They had difficult times, like couples do, but he loved her with all of his being. He even once declared to her, "You're not just my great love story, Rebecca, you were my big break." And Rebecca loved him just as much. When telling off her bandmate, Ben, in Season 1, Episode 14 ("I Call Marriage"), Rebecca explained exactly what makes Jack so phenomenal. Here's what she said in an epic speech:

"You do realize my husband works 10, sometimes 12, hours a day and he comes home absolutely exhausted? And since I joined this band, he's picked up all the slack at home just so I could be here. Both of my boys play football, and he leaves work early every time so he can be there for each and every one of their games. And they're on different teams, by the way, just so they know that someone's in the stands there to support them and love them. When we play that piano gig and he's already gone to bed, he always leaves me a glass of water on my bedside table 'cause he's worried I'm not drinking enough water, especially when I'm singing. So, please, Ben, please do not tell me what Jack would do if he really loved me. My husband's a freaking superhero, and you have no idea what you're talking about."

Preach, Rebecca. Preach.

In some TV shows, dads hate being married, don't want to be around their kids or have to be begged by their wives to spend time with their children, but not Jack. He loved being a dad. It was his whole entire life. Like he told Kevin once, "When I held you for the first time right here in this hospital, it hit me like a bolt of lightning. You were my purpose, Kevin."

Jack Pearson #5

Jack Pearson #5

One of the things I personally love most about Jack is how he reminds me of my own father. My dad has always loved being just that — a dad. To this day, even though he lost a son (my brother died when he was 16), he can't get enough of being a dad. My sister and I are both in our 30s now, and my dad is still as happy to take on the role of fatherhood as he was the day we were born.

Like Jack, my dad is also sensitive. He isn't afraid to cry. He isn't ashamed to express himself. He's vulnerable. He even got up early with me to watch Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's wedding, because that's the type of man he is. When watching a movie, I'll sometimes sneak a peek at him and will see him quietly crying. He's shown me and my sister that just because a man likes so-called feminine things or is moved by Where the Heart Is, he isn't less of a man or a person.

My dad is as tough as they come. What makes him so strong is his ability to embrace his emotions. It's one of the many reasons why I love him so much. When I watch This Is Us and I see Jack's emotions come through, it's like I'm watching my own dad on TV.

We need more Jacks in this world. He's a role model for men and exactly the type of male character that needs to be on television.

Are ‘Hatchelorettes’ the New Baby Showers, & Should You Have One?

Just when you thought “babymoon” getaways were hip, a new pregnancy celebration shows up. That’s right: The “hatchelorette” party is here, and boy is it a thing. Instead of a "final fling before the ring," the hatchelorette is a last hurrah before the baby carriage — a time for expecting moms to bond with friends before their new baby arrives (and before they find out just how good they had it before). And of course, it’s great Instagram fodder. But is this yet another hoop we're being prodded to jump through? Is it just a social media annoyance? A party for the privileged? Or actually a really fun idea?

More:  Are Americans Alone in Their Obsession With Baby Showers?

Writer Laura Lane coined the phrase “hatchelorette” when she went on a girls getaway to celebrate her impending bundle of joy instead of having the traditional baby shower. As Lane explains it on PureWow: Bachelorette + hatching a baby = hatchelorette. It’s all about spending time with pals, sans booze (well, there might be a little rosé). Yoga, spas, pool time, lounging… all work perfectly at the hatchelorette. “Baby showers lacked the ‘fun’ part of celebrating for me,” says Lane, “so I wanted a change!”

Lane’s celebration with 12 friends included a two-night getaway at a Malibu rental home, (organic) crafts, movie night, pool lounging, games (like “Pregnant or Porn?”), a private chef, yoga, a “flower mandala ceremony,” hairstylists for a “braid bar” (also a thing) and swag bags for guests. “Let it be known that throwing a hatchelorette was by far the best decision I’ve made while pregnant,” Lane tells SheKnows. But would you make that decision? And how many pre-baby events are too many, anyway?

Are Hatchelorettes the new Baby Shower?

First, you’ve got the classic baby shower. (Lane substituted her hatchelorette for the baby shower, opting for a getaway instead of a boring event where friends oooh and ahhh over onesies.) Then there’s the potential gender-reveal partybabymoon, and maybe even a meet-n-greet or a "show and sip" after the baby's born. These are all separate events, says etiquette expert Sharon Schweitzer, coauthor of Access to Asia. “Babymoons are great ways for couples to bond together before they embark on their new roles as parents. With the hatchelorette, the focus is on friends and not the couple.”

And how many parties you have is totally up to you from an etiquette standpoint, though Schweitzer adds,  “The mama-to-be may want to seek advice from trusted friends about how much is too much.” But Schweitzer thinks a hatchelorette is a great idea. “When pregnant women are happy, they want to share their joy with their friends, extended family and colleagues,” she says.

But what do moms think? We polled a few who haven't yet experienced the hatchelorette phenomenon about whether they think it sounds brilliant or excessive.

More: Adoption Was My First Choice, but I Was Rejected — & Pregnancy Is My Last Hope

“This is everything,” says Frankie Norstad, mom and host of the podcast Little Miss Addict of the hatchelorette, “Better than a baby shower.“ She hasn't had a hatchelorette but is already mentally planning one: “Let’s go to a spa and lie down while I get a pregnancy massage, a facial, a pedicure, a tarot reading, some reiki treatment and any other hippy bullshit. And then give me a bunch of cards to tell me how I don't look fat and how this child isn't going to ruin my vagina forever.”

Mom Carly Mottinger isn’t quite so keen. “What kind of a kick-ass time are you going to have while pregnant?” she asks. “I would much rather have a party where people take turns bringing me Taco Bell and rubbing my feet. Also, I would refuse to go to any hatchelorette if it involved a pregnant person wearing a sash or crown. That’s a deal-breaker for me.” Sounds reasonable.

Comedian and mom Lauren O’Brien thinks a hatchelorette sounds awful. “I'm a bah-humbug that already has enough of my weekends dedicated to bridal and baby showers, reveal parties, engagement parties and birthday parties, so I'd be like, ‘Fine,’ and go. But then I'd probably get inappropriately drunk and have a great time.” So it’s a maybe from O’Brien?

Are Hatchelorettes the new Baby Shower?

But you have to admit there are serious resources required to throw this type of fete. “Who has the time, money or energy to do this?” wonders mom and writer Lisa Hirsch Lozano. “When I was pregnant, I was saving all my vacation days to use during maternity leave. This honestly sounds incredibly privileged.” And it's true; a hatchelorette at a Malibu beach house with a private chef and braid bar is absolutely not in the cards for most moms. That said, perhaps a more affordable version of a "hatchelorette" (a good old-fashioned slumber party at someone's house?) could still be feasible.

Jennifer Jackson missed out on a baby shower (not to mention a babymoon) because she delivered her baby early. “It seems like a lot of pressure,” she says, pointing out that if hatchelorettes become widespread, it’ll be one more event that those who experience pregnancy complications, are mandated bed rest or go through premature birth will miss out on.

But even disregarding price tag aside and health issues, plenty of people will balk at the idea of yet another over-the-top, Pinterest-inspired life event that women might feel pressured to have/attend. “If you want to go get away with girlfriends to relax before baby comes, then cool,” says mom Allegra Hollenbeck, who works as a therapist. “But why make it into a whole thing? It sounds exhausting.”

It does. And when your body is busy creating a human, you may not feel up to party-orchestrating or traveling, period. Or maybe you’re one of those glowing, lucky preggos who are just full of energy. If that’s case, enjoy your hatchelorette — because before you know it, you’ll be trading in that yoga for My Gym and those chef-cooked meals will be a distant memory as you scarf down leftover baby food pouches.

Josh Duhamel & His Famous New Girlfriend Make Their Unofficial Debut

When Fergie and Josh Duhamel announced their split after eight years of marriage in September 2017, we were understandably bummed. Then, in February, rumors started circulating that Duhamel was already moving on and that he was possibly dating Baby Driver actor Eiza González. Now, E! News reports that the two were spotted together on Friday night and Saturday morning, only adding fuel to the proverbial fire that these two are a couple.

More: Everything We Know About Eiza González, Josh Duhamel's New Girlfriend

E! News reports that Duhamel and González were photographed together for the first time on Friday outside Japanese restaurant Matsuhisa Beverly Hills. An eyewitness told E! the pair had dinner there before getting into Duhamel's truck together and leaving.

"Josh was trying his best to stay under the radar, but Eiza had her hand on his waist and a big smile on her face," the eyewitness said.

But that's not all. On Saturday morning, Duhamel and González went out for breakfast together, and Duhamel apparently wore the same clothes he wore to dinner the night before. The eyewitness told E!, "They sat across from each other and talked intimately. They both wore baseball caps and were leaning across the table talking. Josh paid for breakfast and they left again in his truck."

Sounds like an intimate night for these lovebirds. Neither Duhamel nor González has commented on the status of their relationship, but Us Weekly reported in February that the two met and hit it off at a party after Jennifer Lopez's pre-Super Bowl concert. Duhamel asked a mutual friend for González's number after a night of drinking and partying together, and from what we can tell, they've been together ever since.

In addition to his blossoming romance with González, Duhamel has been juggling co-parenting duties with Fergie for their 4-year-old son, Axl, and popping up in the TV crime drama Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. and the hit teen drama Love, Simon. As for González, whose career is taking off right now, she'll be seen opposite Emma Roberts in the upcoming sci-fi drama Paradise Hills and in the eagerly anticipated adventure epic Alita: Battle Angel.

Vince Vaughn Was Arrested Over the Weekend

Vince Vaughn learned the hard way that driving under the influence is not only dangerous, it can lead to serious legal trouble. According to CNN, Vaughn was stopped at a DUI checkpoint between Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach in California at around 12:30 a.m. local time on Sunday. The encounter with the Manhattan Beach Police Department did not end well for the star.

Sgt. Matt Sabosky said Vaughn was arrested at the checkpoint for driving under the influence. Vaughn was also charged with delaying, resisting or obstructing officers. An unidentified male passenger traveling with Vaughn was also arrested for public intoxication and obstructing officers. Both men were booked into Manhattan Beach Jail at around 4 a.m. local time.

Later that day, another Manhattan Beach Police Department spokesperson, Sgt. Tim Zins, clarified with CNN that Vaughn wasn't "fighting with officers, but more of delaying the investigation." He added, "There was no officer use of force or anything like that."

TMZ's report appears to back up CNN's, with the outlet reporting that when officers asked Vaughn and his passenger to step out of the vehicle at the checkpoint, both men were uncooperative. Apparently, they refused to get out of the car at all, which may have led to the additional charges.

As for bail, E! News reports that Vaughn's was set at $5,000 and that he and his passenger were released later on Sunday. The outlet also reported that, per police records, Vaughn is due in court in September.

Additionally, The Daily Mail shared grainy photos of Vaughn's wife, Kyla Weber, entering the police station on Sunday. She left with a police escort, and though Vaughn could not be seen in the car with her, it's believed he was indeed with her.

There's been no comment from Vaughn or his representatives on the arrest. Vaughn is certainly not the first celebrity to be arrested for driving under the influence, nor do we suspect that he'll be the last, but hopefully, this is the last time he'll be arrested for this potentially fatal act.

Not interested in getting Dad the usual funny Father's Day card this year? If you want to give him a more personalized, handmade card, look no further than this arts-and-crafts project.

These DIY Father's Day shirt cards are shaped just like mini dress shirts, and you can use any paper pattern that closely matches Dad's favorite shirt. Now how cute is that?

All it takes is a few easy steps.

Supplies:

  • Decorative paper for shirt (8-1/2 x 11-inch cardstock was used here)
  • Decorative paper for accessories
  • Scissors
  • Glue or double-sided craft tape

Optional supplies:

  • Bone folder
  • Hole punch
  • Decorative wrapping paper

Throughout the craft, it's important to create crisp folds. A bone folder can help make this easier.

Directions:

Step 1: Create vertical folds

If using decorative paper, turn the paper over so the right side is facing down. Fold the paper in half.

Step 4: Create the collar

Flip the paper over and go to the top. Fold the top portion over about 1/2-inch (approximating the measurement is fine) so there is a crease at the top.

Father's Day shirt card: Turn card over and fold top

Flip the paper over so the top crease is to the back. Bring the top-left corner to the center fold so that it creates a triangle shape.

Step 5: Complete the shirt

Bring the bottom end up and tuck it underneath the top flaps (the shirt collar). Now you have your basic shirt shape!

Step 6: Add a personal message

To add a personal message inside the card, cut out a piece of cardstock that can fit inside the card. The one used here is approximately 3-1/2 inches by 5-1/2 inches. Secure it to shirt with glue or double-sided tape. Write dad a note.

Father's Day shirt card: Add personal message

Step 7: Accessorize the shirt

Add embellishments to the outside of the shirt to give it some of dad’s style. Ideas to consider include a tie, pocket, bowtie or buttons.

To make a tie: Cut a 1/2-inch strip of decorative paper. If you know how to knot a tie, now’s the time to show your skills. If not, fake it by looping strip around the top until a faux knot is created.

Snip the bottom corners of the paper to create a pointed end. Secure to shirt with a dab of glue or double-sided tape.

Next: Tie and hanky

Tie & hanky

To add a pocket, cut a small square of decorative paper and round-out the bottom edges. (Tip: use a circle template to get a round bottom.) Using the same paper as the personalized message, free-hand cut a small shape to serve as the hanky. Secure it to the shirt with glue or sticky tape.

Father's Day shirt card: Striped tie and pocket hanky

Bow tie & buttons

To add a bow tie, cut a small rectangle and slightly snip the corners on a diagonal. Add buttons by using a hole punch. Secure it to the shirt with a dab of glue or sticky tape.

Wrapping paper also works as a substitute for cardstock or decorative scrapbooking paper. This one was made from leftover Christmas wrapping paper. Wrapping paper wrinkles a little easier, though, so if you're using it, plan to make one as a mockup or be very precise when making the first folds.

Last week, IHOP teased us all on Twitter when they hinted that big changes were coming by revealing they were changing their name.

Well, now we know what the name flip was all about. After spending decades as the undisputed king of pancake breakfasts, IHOP has now become IHOb — and is all about the burgers.

Don’t worry, pancakes are still very much on the menu, but the name change comes as IHOP (er, IHOb) reveals a new steak burger lineup that includes Big Brunch, Cowboy BBQ, Mushroom Swiss, Jalapeño Kick, Classic, Classic with Bacon and the Mega Monster.

All these new burgers begin with a base of 100 percent USDA choice Black Angus ground beef that's been smashed on a grill and is served on a brioche bun.

"Burgers are a quintessential, American menu item so it makes perfect sense that IHOP, one of the most iconic, all-American comfort-food brands in the world, would go over the top to create a delicious line-up of quality burgers that hit the spot any time of day," said chef Nevielle Panthaky, head of culinary at IHOb, in a press release.

"With seven different burger builds, all Steakburgers are custom built and piled high with premium quality ingredients and unique, signature sauces in between a buttered and grilled Brioche bun. There's definitely a juicy Steakburger for whatever you might be craving at any time of day! The IHOP Culinary team took the creation of these Steakburgers as seriously as we take innovation around our pancakes, which means they're soon to become world famous, too."

It feels weird that our favorite breakfast spot is now competing with steak houses and burger joints, but hey, as long as we aren't losing our giant stacks of pancakes, make all the burgers you want, IHOb.

The Best Moments You Didn't See at the 2018 Tony Awards

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards certainly didn’t disappoint on Sunday night, with big wins and surprises for musicals like Once on This Island and The Band’s Visit. However, the things viewers don't see on TV always round out a fun night on Broadway. From the red carpet photos you didn't see to the backstage hangouts to the after parties, the 2018 Tony Awards didn't disappoint.

Since we are total musical theater geeks, here are some of the best moments of the night that happened before, during and after the show.

We loved these red carpet sightings

Sara Bareilles Tony Awards

Well, it wasn't the driest red carpet out there, so Tony Awards host Sara Bareilles had her own team of personal umbrella and dress holders to get her safely inside the theater. It takes a village.

A goat on the Tony Awards red carpet

There was also a real, live goat on the red carpet brought by Once on This Island producer Ken Davenport. The animals are a part of the musical and they even performed on the live broadcast, so we guess it was appropriate to bring your animal to greet the press. It is a Tony Award-winning goat, after all.

If you can't beat the rain, use it to your advantage, right? That's exactly what former Glee star Matthew Morrison did on the red carpet ahead of the evening's proceedings. He gave his best Gene Kelly impression by singing and dancing in the rain.

People Are Still Criticizing Sarah Paulson & Holland Taylor's Relationship

$

Just because there is a sizable age gap between two folks in an otherwise healthy, happy relationship, it doesn't mean there's anything wrong. Between consenting adults, you could argue that the old adage "age is just a number" really does hold up, and furthermore, it shouldn't really be a point of contention. But for Sarah Paulson, 43, and Holland Taylor, 75, their 32-year age gap still seems to be something people take issue with — and Paulson is so over it.

More: Sarah Paulson Opens Up About "Exquisitely Beautiful" Holland Taylor & Their Critics

In a new interview with The Sunday Times on Sunday, Paulson opened up about how people view her relationship with Taylor. “People look at me and Holland and say, ‘Mommy issues’, but I parent her as much as she parents me, so that’s not it,” she said.

"Mommy issues"? Ugh. Can't we leave the armchair psychology behind and celebrate two people who are clearly in a happy, fulfilling relationship?

Paulson went on to defend herself (although she shouldn't have to), connecting her relationship with Taylor to her tendency to have older friends and why age isn't really an issue for her, especially when she has dated older women before (previous to Taylor, she dated actor Cherry Jones, who was 18 years her senior).

“I’ve just always had older friends," she told The Sunday Times. "I think a lot of people have a stunted way of looking at older people, it’s a way of distancing themselves from something that they think will not happen to them. I have the good fortune of being with someone who is older and wiser than I am.”

People also shared Paulson's memories on how she and Taylor first started dating. Their paths crossed again a few years after they met at a party. They followed each other on Twitter, exchanged direct messages and went out to dinner. Not to throw out another cliché here, but as they say, the rest was history.

When Paulson and Taylor went public with their relationship, it was after months of speculation based on their cute, flirty tweets and Paulson's admission that she was in a relationship that was the "most wonderful and extraordinary thing."

A 5-Day Asian-Inspired Meal Plan That Is Better Than Takeout

Once I get home from work, all I want to do is lie down, watch TV and relax. Oh, you too? Making dinner is the last thing we feel like doing at the end of the day, but when our stomachs start growling, what do we do?

Sometimes we resort to takeout — ordering sushi, Chinese food or pizza. It’s simple and easy, and it tastes good, but the downside is that it can all add up fast. Luckily for you, you can have the same takeout dishes you love without ordering out all the time. We’ve come up with five delicious, healthy and quick Asian-inspired recipes that will fuel your takeout obsession all week long.

In this meal plan, you'll make a simple peanut sauce you can use in two different dishes. You can dress up plain-Jane noodles, or you can use it as a marinade for chicken breasts. You'll also find two Asian salad recipes with super-simple dressings and hearty ingredients.

The best part is that you'll have dinner on the table in under 10 minutes. We know you like the sound of that.

The goal of this meal plan is to eat healthier when and where you can as well as to save money on dinner. With these five recipes, you’ll be doing just that.

Make the chicken on Monday night (use only half the peanut sauce, put it in the fridge, and on Tuesday, use it in the sesame and peanut noodle recipe).

You can also cut down on the amount of chicken that the chicken in spicy peanut sauce calls for.

Will You Try the New Pickle Juice Slush at Sonic?

Updated June 11, 2018, at 2:28 p.m. ET: The day we have all been waiting for is here. Sonic's pickle slush is officially available to purchase at participating locations.

Back in March, Sonic announced they would be releasing the briny beverage sometime in June. And on Friday, Sonic tweeted that the new beverage would be dropping today.

The first reviews have been mostly positive.

tried pickle slushie

We haven't tried this salty concoction for ourselves but after searching through Twitter, the almost nonexistent number of negative tweets is good news. In fact, the general consensus seems to be that if you like pickle juice, you will most definitely like this new slush beverage.

If pickle juice just isn't for you, don't worry — Sonic's three tamer flavors also roll out today. If you prefer your summer drinks to be a bit more fruity, you can try a Bahama mama, blue Hawaiian or Tiger's Blood slush.

Original story, published March 19, 2018:

Sonic has us in a real pickle. Do we or don't we?

According to Food & Wine, the popular fast-food chain Sonic will be peddling chartreuse-green pickle juice snow cone slushes in June at various locations nationwide. Yep, you read that right: salty pickle brine swimming around in those nostalgic icy drinks we all know and love. Or, well, loved. RIP, slushes.

Food & Wine's Maria Yagoda dared to try the bold green drink at Sonic's headquarters in Oklahoma City. She lived to tell, people. “It’s surprisingly delicious (and makes a good accompaniment to burgers and/or tots and/or corn dogs.),” Yagoda said. “Sweet and tangy, the bright brine compensates for the over-savoriness you might have been worried about.”

More: We Tried 8 Brands of Butter to Find the Best

Yagoda's "might have been worried about" is our "continue to worry about, lose sleep over and cry to our therapist about." Call us old-fashioned, but pickle juice belongs in pickle jars. Period. We all had the perpetually pickle-scented younger sibling with the revolting habit of drinking the green brine, right? I don't want to relive that in an Icee, people.

But if you were that younger sibling and you can't get enough of the pickle syrup tang, no worries! Sonic wants to keep you and your pickle-craving palate happy. Want pickle syrup on your burger? In your shake? On your fries (as if mayo wasn't insult enough)? You've got it, kid.

More: Homemade Snacks Better Than Any Vending Machine Offering

As if 2018 hasn't been bad enough, Sonic is introducing the divisive flavor as part of its new Snow Cone Slushes lineup, and the other items sound maybe a little tastier: Bahama Mama, Blue Hawaiian and Tiger's Blood (this according to Foodbeast). No word on whether actual moms from Bahama, depressed Hawaiians or real tigers were milked for these flavors. But if pickle juice is allowed, then who knows what else they'll come up with?

It's not just Sonic, either. Pickle brine has apparently become an A-list ingredient of late. Plenty of formerly sane people have drunk the pickle-flavored Kool-Aid and sung its praises. Pickle juice has been recommended recently as a Gatorade replacement for sporting folk, and it's also been turned into soda. And Walmart is now selling pickle-flavored ice pops. What's next, pickle martinis? No, no; don't tell us. We were just kidding! Please, no! Oh, God, no... Guy Fieri, WTF, man!

Let us know if you brave one of these pickle slushes, OK? Just don't breathe on us. Cool.

Anthony Bourdain’s Estranged Wife Comments on His Death

In some ways, the first week of June has been really, really tough, especially for celebrity news. Just days after fashion icon Kate Spade was found dead in her New York City apartment from an apparent suicide, world-renowned chef, television host, author and traveler Anthony Bourdain was found also dead in his hotel room in France, again from an apparent suicide.

On Sunday, his estranged wife, Ottavia Busia, shared a photo of their 11-year-old daughter, Ariane, on Instagram.

In the caption on the Instagram post, which shows Ariane performing at a concert wearing studded, knee-high boots, Busia wrote, "Our little girl had her concert today. She was amazing. So strong and brave. She wore the boots you bought her. I hope you are having a good trip, wherever you are."

Bourdain and Busia married in 2007 but separated amicably in 2016. They never officially divorced, according to The New York Times, and they have been supportive of each other in spite of the split. Prior to Bourdain's death, they shared parenting responsibilities in raising Ariane.

He told People in 2016, “My wife and I live, have lived, very separate lives for years. There’s no drama here. We get along really, really well and it’s not a big lifestyle change happening here.” He also said that being away from his family up to 250 days a year was "really tough," adding, “As a family, I think we’ve done a really good job and we’re doing a really good job and would like to keep it that way."

Bourdain said that Ariane was used to his traveling schedule and that she “is a girl who knows her parents are weird. We have somehow managed to raise a very healthy, very happy, self-assured little girl who knows she’s loved, who finds her parents entertaining.”

Bourdain's mother, Gladys, told Page Six that because he and Busia never followed through on divorce, that makes Busia his legal next-of-kin. Although the family is still waiting for French officials to release his body, plans for his funeral are in Busia's hands. “Although they’re separated, [Busia will] be in charge of whatever happens,” Gladys said. “We haven’t talked for a couple days. I’m sure she’s as broken up as I am.”

As Bourdain's family begins to move forward, we wish them all the best. He is also survived by his girlfriend of two years, actor Asia Argento, who released a statement following his death on social media asking for privacy for herself and his family.

This Is What Happens to Our Brains After Sex

$

Ever since I started making out, fooling around and having sex with other people when I was in my teens, a hot topic of conversation among me and girlfriends was feelings of attachment after we'd had a great, passionate session with a potential partner.

I've had — and heard of — experiences from women who really weren't that into someone or weren't sure how they were feeling, then after having sex with them felt a strong sense of attachment. There are times we can confuse feelings of like, lust or love — I mean, it all feels good. But what is happening in our brains when we are physical with another person that causes this shift? And does that feeling last?

We asked a few experts who let us know the real reason you may be feeling more attached, attracted or "in love" with someone after you've had a sexual interaction.

More: Why the Brain Is Our Most Important Sex Organ

Blame it on the hormones

When we are intimate with someone, oxytocin, also known as the "love hormone" is released into the body "during intercourse and other forms intimacy," Dr. Sal Raichbach, a psychologist and licensed clinical social worker, tells SheKnows, adding that oxytocin is linked to "positive social functioning and is associated with bonding, trust and loyalty."

It's only natural we associate those good feelings with the person we shared them with and we are left wanting more of them. This may be why we start thinking of someone more after we share a passionate time with them, even if it was quick— we want more of that feeling.

Feelings of attachment are not from sex alone

The good news is that it doesn't take penis-in-vagina intercourse to produce oxytocin.

"Oxytocin is released in a variety of activities, from seeing our dog to getting or giving a massage, playing team sports, giving birth or seeing the color blue," Dr. Lauren Brim, sex educator and author of The New Rules of Sex, tells SheKnows.

Brim goes on to explain that a strong bond between two people or feelings of attachment for one person can happen during other kinds of intimacy as well, "which is why we can feel like we've fallen in love with someone we've only ever spoken with once," she says.

Intimacy is where it's at

It's also important to remember that having sex under any condition will automatically release oxytocin or make you feel connected to your partner. For example, Brim points out victims of sexual assault don't have feelings of attachment for their abusers nor can having regular sex in an unhappy marriage "fix" the relationship or make you fall in love again.

While sex can deepen an existing bond between two people, the thing that makes us feel attached is the "intimacy of the experience and the innate chemistry of the partners," she says. Things like looking into each other's eyes or sharing personal stories with another can create the same type of bond.

"As social creatures, we are designed to bond through a variety of activities, but the sex often creates a sense that we should form a relationship with the person because society has designated that as part of our social sexual script," Brim adds.

More: Not Clicking With Your Partner? We're Here to Help

Brim also notes that people are responding to sex the way we've been conditioned to respond, “so, if we’re told a story that men were needy after sex and women were the sexually promiscuous ones, then that would be the reality," which may very well be why some women think they are more attached or have developed deeper feelings for someone after they have had sexual intercourse.

Perhaps the next time you are wondering if you are in love or even have feelings for someone after being intimate with them, ask yourself if you just liked the experience and the feelings you had when you were having sex (including when you were kissing and touching) or if you think you experienced a type of intimacy on a different level and are experiencing deeper feeling for other reasons.

Like most things in life, there is no instant formula for having feelings for someone — with or without having sex. But keeping things in mind like the effect of hormones may help to explain why you suddenly become really into someone after being intimate.

Kylie Jenner Just Removed All Photos of Stormi's Face From Instagram

It's no secret that Kylie Jenner and her family don't exactly shy away from the limelight. But when it came to her pregnancy, Jenner kept the news private until she welcomed little Stormi Webster into the world in February. Now, it looks like the reality star and entrepreneur is shifting back to privacy mode.

More: Meet Kylie Jenner, Mommy Blogger

Astute followers of Jenner's Instagram have noticed that she deleted all photos that featured little Stormi's smile. But don't worry — Stormi isn't gone from Jenner's Instagram entirely. Instead, Jenner has opted to only share photos that conceal her daughter's (adorable, chubby) face.

On Sunday she shared a photo of herself with Stormi accompanied by the caption, "i spy with my little eye..."

When followers commented that Stormi's face was conspicuously absent from the photo, Jenner responded that, "Yeah I cut my baby out. I'm not sharing photos of my girl right now." And she doesn't just mean going forward; Jenner has already deleted all posts that feature Stormi's face.

Jenner didn't elaborate on the reasoning behind her decision, but it's totally understandable that she's chosen to keep Stormi's face hidden for the time being. And since she's still sharing other more subtle mother-daughter photo moments, at least we're not being totally kept in the dark as to Stormi's whereabouts (and cuteness).

As much as we'd love to see more pics of Stormi's adorable face, we support Jenner's decision. After all, plenty of parents are cautious about sharing photos of their kids on social media — and like pretty much every other new parent, Jenner is figuring this whole "raising a kid" thing out as she goes along.

All the Delicious Ways to Elevate Your Scrambled Eggs

$

For a dish so simple, there are a lot of ways you can cook scrambled eggs. At their most basic, you can just whisk your eggs and cook them in a pan until set. But there are a lot of small ways to upgrade your eggs so you can feel like you're dining at a fancy brunch place instead of scarfing down breakfast over the sink. Take a look at these easy tips, and the next time you have scrambled eggs you'll feel like you're living in true luxury.

1. Cook them in butter

Scrambled eggs are a relatively simple dish, so you want to add some flavor whenever you can. That's why most chefs stick to cooking their eggs in butter rather than oil. The butter adds a rich dairy flavor to your eggs without overpowering them.

2. Use a nonstick pan

For truly perfect scrambled eggs, you want to cook them in a nonstick pan. Anything else will likely leave you with flaky, crispy eggs bits throughout your scramble. A nonstick pan helps the eggs glide over the surface while they cook, helping you keep things nice and creamy.

More: How to cook the best scrambled eggs of your life

3. Use great eggs

Again, since your dish of scrambled eggs likely contains only a few ingredients, you want to get the best eggs possible. Free-range, organic local eggs are your best bet (Jamie Oliver agrees!).

4. Use duck eggs

If you like your eggs really rich, consider adding a duck egg to the mix. Because duck egg whites have more protein than chicken, they can be tough when scrambled on their own, but scramble one duck egg with two chicken eggs and you'll get the tender texture you desire with the added richness of the duck egg's yolk.

5. Add caviar

Caviar and soft-scrambled eggs are a classic pairing. Cook your eggs so they're super-creamy and then top with caviar. Each bite will be comprised of luxuriously smooth eggs punctuated with bursts of briny, salty richness thanks to the caviar.

6. Add truffles

Truffles make everything taste better, so of course they work well with scrambled eggs. If you can shave real truffles into your scrambled eggs, all the better, but you can also use truffle salt, truffle butter or truffle cheese to add the rich, earthy flavor to your eggs. Just avoid truffle oil, which is made with artificial flavoring.

7. Cook them slowly

When you add eggs to a hot pan, they immediately seize up. Instead, add your eggs to a cold pan, raise the heat up to medium-low, then cook low and slow to get the ultimate creamy texture.

8. Add heavy cream

Chrissy Teigen has a trick for making your eggs taste decadent without having to spring for fancy ingredients. Add heavy cream to your whisked eggs, and then cook them gently over low heat. You'll wind up with rich and creamy scrambled eggs that taste almost cheesy.

9. Serve on a warm plate

Scrambled eggs do not retain heat well, so Alton Brown has a small suggestion that makes a big difference. Serve them on a warmed plate. That way, the coolness of your plate won't immediate turn your eggs to icicles. You'll be able to enjoy their warm, creamy texture the whole time you're eating.
