Revolution preview: "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"

The enemies from Miles' past keep cropping up. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned, and Miles seems to have scorned quite a few.

Miles in Revolution

Talk about a needle in a haystack. This week on Revolution, our heroes will travel to Atlanta, searching for the nuke Monroe acquired in the last episode. Not to put a damper on this exciting race to find the weapon before the Militia finds the rebels, but we don't really know anything about this nuke Monroe traded for. Obviously, it's not a good thing to give the crazy guy a giant bomb, but using it isn't as easy as just dropping it out of a helicopter.

Not only that, but I thought Monroe wanted to control all of the United States, turning it into a Monroe Republic. What's the point of dropping a nuke on the populace you want to control? Hopefully this week will shed a little more light on Monroe's motive. Why does he want the nuke? And whom does he plan to bomb?

Missed the last episode of Revolution? Catch up with the recap >>

The rebels' search for the nuke will take them outside the Monroe Republic, uncharted waters for Charlie . It's her first time leaving the Republic. Outside, they find a thriving city within the Georgia Federation that is trading with Europe. It looks like Miles also finds an old friend who's out for revenge. She's keen on taking out her anger on Miles' junk for his crimes against her personally.

Want to stay on top of the latest Revolution gossip? Subscribe to our newsletter>>

No word on Captain Neville either, other than to mention he's on the run. We wonder how long it will be before Monroe discovers he's fled the city. Though we don't see it happening anytime soon, maybe Neville will eventually realize the error of his ways now that Monroe has turned on him.

The next episode of Revolution airs this Monday, April 15, on NBC. Here a preview of the episode:

IFC orders up new season full of girl power

Garfunkel and Oates plus Two Idiots lead the way in awesome shows planned for IFC's future.

Garfunkel and Oates

It appears as if IFC is jumping on the scripted bandwagon, too. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the channel has just ordered two pilots and eight scripts, marking its biggest pull for scripted material ever. To top it all off, a few of IFC's new interests include female-centered storylines... a first for the channel. Pre-tty cool!

The CW orders some cool new shows>>

The coolest of IFC's pilot orders is a little gem called Garfunkel & Oates. The comedy centers on the comedy-folk girl group made up of Riki Lindhome and Kate Micucci . While the pilot addresses the girls' career aspirations, it also follows their sometimes challenging attempts to relate to people whose lives are more "straight and narrow." Lindhome's and Micucci's lives and career choices are a little more quirky and adventurous. After all, they make a living singing sometimes raunchy and nearly always satirical songs.

Cable TV networks unleash ambitious new lineup>>

Another awesome show currently in development comes from Megan Mullally and Tina Kapousis. Two Idiots follows another pair of quirky women whose lives seem to take on an I Love Lucy feel as even the most menial everyday activities lead to misadventures. Their Ricky and Fred are played by their butler and a dimwitted shared boyfriend. If this is half as funny as anything else Mullally has ever done, it's sure to be a winner.

If being lady-lead is the least of your concerns, International Plan sounds hilarious. The show is based on the true story of writers Michael Blieden and Eric Ledgin , their international quest for love and the bonding process that came along with the project. We love watching a good bromance unfold!

Patrick Fugit is ABC's new leading man on Reckless>>

Those shows are only the tip of the iceberg, though. IFC also has a new animation in the works as well as a few other comedies. It sounds like 2013 and 2014 could shape up to be pretty decent years for IFC. We're excited for all the new viewing options!

VIDEO: First Dexter Season 8 teaser

Showtime releases a brand-new preview for Dexter Season 8. It's bloody... and creepy.

Dexter Season 8

You know that feeling you get when you watch certain movie trailers and immediately know that you do not want to see the movie? Or... maybe you do, despite knowing you'll be scarred for life. That's exactly how the new promo for Dexter's eighth season feels.

It's simple at first: The white paper and the splattered blood turn slowly. As the camera zooms out from the mess, Dexter speaks:

"I've always been a very neat monster. But, lately, the truth has begun to spill and too many people have seen the full picture. I'm losing control and the only thing I know for sure is that it isn't going to be pretty."

New faces for Dexter's final season>>

Zoomed all the way out, the blood splatter forms that "full picture," which is the silhouette of Dexter's eerie and demented leer. It's at that moment that a shudder will surely run up your spine. Your shoulders will pull upward, as if trying to protect your ears from his creepy promise, and your head will sink down as if trying to protect your neck from his butcher's knife. The simple sneak peek is startling. If the description doesn't prove it, you can watch it for yourself.

Did you look over your shoulder? We did. Despite knowing that Dexter mostly just wants to kill bad guys, his fondness for spilled blood is creepy nonetheless. Now that too many people know his secret and he's worried about his loss of control, will he remain on the straight and narrow , or will he seek out new targets? We're afraid to find out... and yet we're dying to know.

Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter on Women's Running cover>>

The newest trailer definitely steps up the shiver factor. Season 8's first trailer featured Dexter's long list of victims and promised that he wasn't done. This one, though, has a bit more feeling to it. Maybe it's Dexter's voice — or maybe it's just that blood-shaped expression. Either way, we're terrified.

Dexter Season 8 premieres on Showtime on June 30.

Nashville recap: These foolish games

Juliette and Dante's relationship causes friction on the tour. Meanwhile, Gunnar's new friendship brings back his creative fire, but at what cost?

Nashville episode 17

On this episode of Nashville, called "My Heart Would Know," a lot of people are playing games that will either get themselves, or others, hurt.

Recap of last week's episode of Nashville: Moving on and growing up>>

First up, there is Juliette and Dante having their little affair. Not only does it affect Juliette's mom , but when Avery walks in on them going at it, he nearly loses his job. Luckily Deacon was there to save Avery. As for Jolene, Juliette decides to resolve the whole issue by sending her mom home to a new sober companion and hiring Dante as her manager. I'm curious to see if that resolves anything with her mother, but I know darn well that Dante acting as Juliette's manager is going to cause static with Rayna and Deacon.

Then there was Scarlett , Gunnar and their new neighbor, Will . As soon as Gunnar opened up to Will about how he hadn't felt like writing since his brother died, I knew something bad was coming. There was just no way that Will would come along and be that nice without having some sort of backlash. Sure enough, Will took Gunnar on a wild ride that nearly killed them both. The craziest part was that it seemed to help Gunnar get over his dry spell. He sure did write a beautiful song after that, but I'm worried that means he's going to be trying stunts like that again.

Nashville news and spoilers: Rayna's new man and more>>

Finally there was Rayna and all of her family drama. Her daddy survives his heart attack, but that leads to the truth coming out about what really happened the night her mother died. It also led to her sister finding out the truth about Peggy's little secret, which led to Teddy finding out as well. That whole story was wrought with drama, but it did give us one of the best moments in the episode in my opinion: Deacon coming to the hospital to visit Rayna and the two of them reminiscing about old times. That made my heart happy.

My favorite bits:

"I think we should talk about your mother."
"That's a mood killer."

Juliette offering her jet to Rayna without hesitation. Of course she did it only so that Rayna would be out of the way, but I like to think that maybe a teeny part of her did it out of actual kindness as well.

Gunnar declaring a 24-Hour-Scarlett-O'Connor-Party. Too sweet!

"It's bad enough that my fans have to sit through her show just to get to mine."

The look on Juliette's face when her mom said that she and Dante needed to go home. Uh oh. Nashville episode 17

Scarlett asking Gunnar to write with her again.

Lamar demanding a milkshake.

"Well, why don't we let your cable guy weigh in?"

Avery walking in on Juliette and Dante. Oops!

Will calling Scarlett up on stage to sing. Yay!

Scarlett and Will singing that song together.

Literally cursing out loud when Dante had the nerve to fire Avery. Seriously??

"Will you carry me?"
"I will try." —Those three all drunk together was kind of adorable.

Deacon telling Avery to get back on the bus and then giving Dante hell for firing him. Yes! Way to go, Deacon!

"Unlike you I'm looking out for Juliette's best interest."
"That's a good euphemism for it."

Deacon telling Dante not to go near Avery. Is it wrong that that made me cheer?

"Oh my god, you're sleeping with him. And you call me disgusting?"—The woman has got a very good point.

Deacon giving Juliette the biggest cold shoulder on stage. Burn!

Deacon informing Juliette in no uncertain terms that Rayna was indeed his family.

Deacon showing up at the hospital for Rayna.

Deacon and Rayna reminiscing about the good old days.

"I did have a mouth on me."
"Some things never change."

"Thanks for coming."
"Well something about your voice in that message, sounded like you needed. Me."—The way he said that line just killed me.

Everyone toasting Scarlett.

Gunnar singing again.

Rayna telling her daddy that she felt like they missed their life together. Between that and Gunnar's song, I was totally in tears.

What did you think of this episode of Nashville? Do you think Gunnar has started down a slippery slope with the whole defying-death thing? What do you think of Juliette hiring Dante as her manager?

Winona Ryder's red-carpet comeback

Winona Ryder, 41, was an A-lister in the '80s who had a downfall in 2001. She's stayed pretty quiet ever since, but she showed up at a movie screening Monday looking great.

Winona Ryder at film premiere

Winona Ryder, what's your secret?

The 41-year-old star, everyone's favorite weird girl in the 1980s thanks to monster hits like teen serial killer romp Heathers and horror comedy Beetlejuice, hasn't been out and about much since her notorious arrest for shoplifting in 2001. But red-carpet photos snapped of her Monday at a screening of new thriller Disconnect show that Ryder's looking better than ever.

The Huffington Post points out that Ryder's not exactly making a comeback — the actress has never really gone anywhere, appearing sporadically in films all through the 2000s, though her last high-profile leading role was 1999's Girl, Interrupted.

She was in Black Swan as a ballerina in 2010, and provided a major character voice for 2012's Frankenweenie, directed by Tim Burton, with whom Ryder has had a long and fruitful partnership that produced films like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands.

Frankenweenie movie review: A new leash on life>>

In 2007, Ryder explained to Interview Magazine why she'd stepped away from the spotlight.

"I think when all that was happening, I did sort of get trapped into working too much," she said about getting caught shoplifting. "And then I sort of had... It wasn’t like a breakdown, but I was just exhausted, and I had to just stop and take care of myself. And then I kind of segued into only wanting to do one movie a year, and I was so lucky that I was able to do that."

Yeah, that is pretty lucky!

Winona Ryder exposes more Mel Gibson loathsomeness>>

Ryder said she watches today's crop of young starlets from the distance only time can provide. "They think it’s going to be like this forever so they’re not being more careful. But I’ve been doing this for a quarter of a century now. I remember when so many people were the number-one person at the box office. And I’ve also seen so many people crash and burn, or be on top and then just make some bad choices."

Ryder's next project, Homefront, is a thriller starring James Franco, Jason Statham and Kate Bosworth.

Children's area in the library

In honor of National Library Week from April 14-20, we encourage you to rally around your local book nook. You don't have to donate money — there are many other ways to support your neighborhood library.

Give your library
some love

Volunteer

Amy Meyertholen, HandsOn VISTA member and volunteer program coordinator for the Burton Barr Central Library in Phoenix, Arizona, has always loved libraries, seeing them as "a direct connection to the community." She encourages people to help build a symbiotic relationship between their libraries and the communities they serve by getting involved!

Celebrate National Library Week>>

Volunteering your time is one of the best ways to support your local library. While you'll want to check with your library's specific guidelines, Meyertholen says that in Phoenix "branches welcome volunteers anytime the library is open." Adults can simply fill out an application, complete a background check and start helping!

Volunteering isn't just for adults

Encourage your teens to check into the opportunities for them to help, too. Volunteering at a library is great for young people's resumes and their character development skills, too. The Phoenix libraries have specific teen programs during the school year, as well as summer programs to accommodate teens' busy schedules.

Volunteering opportunities for teens>>

Little library lovers

Help your young kids get involved in supporting the library by hosting a book drive, Meyertholen suggests.

"Help your young kids get involved... by hosting a book drive."

The Phoenix libraries have a specific foundation, the Friends of the Phoenix Public Library, where the books can be donated and then sold to raise money for library programming. Find out if your library has a similar support group for your local library network or ask about ways to donate books to benefit your library.

Support special events

If you have time restraints that limit you from volunteering at your local library on a regular basis, Meyertholen suggests looking into special events hosted by the "Friends of" your library groups in which you can get involved.

Spread the word

Dad reading to kids

You may have to keep quiet inside the library but not outside it! Help support your library by simply singing its praises to anyone and everyone.

Visit your library to improve your child’s literacy>>

Meyertholen says, "One really important thing individuals can do to support their libraries is to advocate for them! Talk to other people about the wonderful services the library provides to the community and encourage others to utilize the materials and programs offered. Speak out about why you value the library."

And take advantage of your library's amazing services. Aside from making a wide range of books, movies and music available for you to borrow at no cost, your library may offer story times and activities for kids and teens, educational programming for all ages and much more. If it has been too long since you've visited your local library, we invite you to use National Library Week as an excuse to get reacquainted with it!

Bethenny Frankel on divorce: It's "the most difficult thing"

Skinnygirl mogul Bethenny Frankel opened up about her divorce on Good Day New York on Thursday. She finds divorce to be "excruciating."

bethennyfrankeldivorce

The woman who thought she had it all just two years ago is speaking up about her divorce. Bethenny Frankel opened up about her marriage to Jason Hoppy during her guest-host on Good Day New York on Thursday.

She told her co-host Greg Kelly, "It's rough. I have to say, divorce is the most difficult thing you could ever go through in your entire life."

The couple, who married after a whirlwind courtship, pregnancy, TV wedding and sale of her Skinnygirl alcohol line, announced their divorce in late December. They were married for two years.

Many fans were hoping for a reconciliation between the two since their entire personal life had been documented on the Bravo reality show, Bethenny Ever After. Hoppy was even spotted wearing his wedding ring as late as Wednesday by New York Daily News even though they both have filed for divorce.

The 42-year-old didn't think the aftermath would be so tough. She said, "I never heard how excruciating [divorce] is."

While the duo has kept the focus on their daughter, Bryn, she admits that it's a "brutal, unnatural situation." Despite all of the emotional trauma with her ex-husband, Frankel reveals that the 2-year-old is "amazing" and thriving.

She shared, "Kids make you do things you'd never do. They bring out the best in you."

Bethenny Frankel works out in heels, talks fitness>>

Even though her personal life has been tough, Frankel's Skinnygirl line of alcoholic beverage continues to grow with a Moscato wine, a white cherry vodka, and a mojito joining the lineup.

She also has a daytime talk show debuting in the fall after a short test-run last summer.

However, Frankel seems to be taking the change all in stride. As she told E! News a few weeks ago, "I have a great life, I have a great daughter, I have good days and bad days."

5 Great indie flicks you won't see at the MTV Movie Awards

The 2013 MTV Movie Awards honored a few indie films this year, but they missed some must-see movies that should be added to your Netflix queue.

MTVMovieAwardsindieflicks

While the 2013 MTV Movie Awards did a pretty good job of honoring a wide variety of films this year, including indies like Silver Linings Playbook, Beasts of the Southern Wild and The Perks of Being a Wallflower, there are a few indie flicks that they missed.

SheKnows takes a look at five great indie films you won't see at this year's MTV Movie Awards.

Celeste and Jesse Forever

Parks and Recreation's Rashida Jones wrote this charming film with Will McCormack and she stars alongside Saturday Night Live's Andy Samberg. The story focuses on love and friendship and how it can get complicated along the way. Samberg turns in a heartfelt performance while Jones is trying to keep it all together in her personal and her professional life. Fans of Samberg will be pleasantly surprised that he is indeed more than just a comedian.

To Rome, With Love

While this Woody Allen film certainly didn't have the traction that his 2011 film Midnight in Paris did, To Rome, With Love continues the director's love letter to Europe. With a stellar cast featuring Penelope Cruz, Judy Davis and Alec Baldwin, the four vignettes feature the best of Allen's comedy and demonstrate why he's been a prolific filmmaker over the decades.

Take This Waltz

Audiences missed this movie as it came and went quickly from theatres, but with stars like Michelle Williams and Seth Rogen continuing their streak of excellence on the silver screen, Take This Waltz is a cannot-miss. film. Director Sarah Polley, whose first film Away From Her garnered critical acclaim, proves she isn't a one-hit wonder behind the lens. Watch this film as it takes you through a love triangle that is truly the anti-romantic comedy. Its steamy sensuality and the yearning for love will have you discussing the movie post-viewing.

The Intouchables

It's the second highest grossing non-English film ever, but don't let the word "foreign film" turn you off. This is an inspirational film that follows the friendship of a rich quadriplegic and a troubled young Senegalese man hired to be his live-in caretaker. It was distributed by The Weinstein Company, so you know Harvey definitely liked it.

Searching For Sugar Man

While it is true that the MTV Movie Awards don't honor documentaries, Searching For Sugar Manswept the documentary category during awards show season, including the Oscars. However, this true story is the perfect film for music fans. The documentary follows two South Africans who are in search of their musical hero, 1970s rocker Rodriguez. The story that develops is intriguing and amazing and it should not be missed.

What movies are you going to add to your Netflix list?

VIDEO: Taylor Swift's Diet Coke commercial featuring "22"

Taylor Swift is rivaling Beyoncé when it comes to big endorsement contracts. On Thursday, the singer's new Diet Coke commercial debuted featuring her latest single, "22."

taylorswiftdietcoke

Move over, Beyoncé! There's a new pop star in town promoting another soda brand. Instead of Jay-Z's wife and her favorite drink, Pepsi, it's Taylor Swift and her soda of choice, Diet Coke.

On Thursday, the beverage giant released their new commercial featuring the talents of the crossover artist and her new single "22." The ad showcases Swift writing the song in various locations while fans are shown singing the song in their car, at work and out at a club with friends. The commercial encourages viewers to "stay extraordinary."

It looks like the Grammy winner finds the bubbly, sugary drink a great source of inspiration in writing bubbly pop songs. It clearly inspired the lyrics shown in the commercial, "It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters/Make fun of our exes/I don't know about you/But I'm feeling 22."

Swift, who is now 23 years old, announced her deal with Diet Coke back in late January which the Coca-Cola Company confirmed in a press release as a "long-term partnership with the superstar."

The campaign is expected to include commercials as well as "advertising, retail activation, experiential and more."

Taylor Swift admits "Trouble" is about Harry Styles>>

It's unknown how much the young musician signed the deal for, but it certainly stirred up that old Beyoncé/Swift rivalry that began in Kanye West's head. He even took the time to rant and rave about their soda deals back in February.

Swift is no stranger to endorsement deals. She has worked closely with other brands like Target, Sony, CoverGirl and Elizabeth Arden in the past.

Grilled salmon with caramelized onions

Preparing dinner in less than half an hour is what we all need after a long day. Salmon is rich in omega-3s and onions are rich in vitamin C, so it's a perfectly healthy dish for the whole family.

Grilled salmon

The simplicity of grilling the salmon on a griddle with just a light sprinkling of salt brings out its natural flavor. Pairing the salmon with caramelized onions turns the dish into a sumptuous dinner.

Grilled salmon with caramelized onions recipe

Serves 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 big white onion, sliced into rings
  • Extra-virgin olive oil
  • Butter
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 14-ounce fillet of salmon with skin on

Directions:

  1. Over medium heat in a saucepan, add some extra-virgin olive oil and a knob of butter. When the butter has melted, turn the heat down to low-medium and saute the onions for 20 minutes.
  2. Add the white wine then turn up the fire. Let the alcohol evaporate.
  3. Add the vinegar and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle the fennel seeds. Set aside.
  5. Brush a griddle with extra-virgin olive oil or use an oil spray so that the salmon will not stick to the griddle.
  6. Over medium-high heat, cook the salmon with the skin side first. Turn to the other side when you see that the salmon is cooked almost 2/3 from the side that is touching the griddle. Sprinkle with salt.
  7. Serve the salmon while hot with the caramelized onions.

Charlie Sheen dishes the dirt on Lindsay Lohan

Lindsay Lohan might be trying to turn over a new leaf, but Charlie Sheen clearly didn't get the message. The actor dishes the dirt on Lohan's appearance on Anger Management while visiting The Tonight Show.

Charlie Sheen on the Tonight ShowLindsay Lohan might want to have a chat with Charlie Sheen about gossiping behind her back. She's trying to rehab her image, but stories about the starlet just won't die.

On Tuesday night, Lohan took to David Letterman's stage to talk about turning over a new leaf. Just one night later, Charlie Sheen took to Letterman's rival, Jay Leno, to address those Lohan rumors from her guest star appearance on Anger Management.

The late-night talk show host dove right into the Lohan gossip, bypassing the real reason Sheen was on The Tonight Show in the first place — to promote Scary Movie V.

Leno asked about the former child star's tardiness to the set.

Sheen's meltdown explained: Testosterone cream>>

Sheen responded with praise for Lohan at first: "Not on day one. Day one was fabulous. She was on time. Hit every mark. Made us look off our game, which we weren't."

However, that's where the praise ended.

Sheen continued: "Then we had to deal with day two. It was as though she had us held hostage because she gave us half a show."

The excuse Lohan gave was an earache, but it didn't seem like the former Two and a Half Men star was buying it.

He said, "No, she had an earache and was a little bit... four hours late. No, she was a couple of hours late. She was really not feeling well. We just worked around it."

Then Sheen took a comedic beat and shared, "She was late, what can I say! But when she got there she was prepared — with an excuse."

James Franco did not take Lindsay Lohan to bed>>

That was not the only drama the Mean Girls actress caused that day. It was also rumored that she stole a few items from wardrobe.

Sheen insinuated that Lohan did indeed take a few items, but he said she eventually paid for them when she was caught.

He revealed, "It's true, but it's not true. Nothing further, your honor. She borrowed some stuff and then was told they would take it out of her paycheck, and she said fine and that's all it was."

There's been no word from the actress about Sheen's storytelling on Leno, but the tabloid duo sure do make interesting news together.

Both Lohan and Sheen appear in Scary Movie V, which hits the big screen on Friday, April 12.

Why Maggie Gyllenhaal cut her hair super short

Think Maggie Gyllenhaal wanted a short pixie cut for spring and summer? Not really — she did it to cover up a terrible bowl cut!

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Michelle Williams might have caught eyes with her short, funky 'do on Tuesday night at the Kate Young for Target launch, but Maggie Gyllenhaal is also rocking a different style.

The actress and mom of two is currently sporting a pixie cut — but it's not because she wanted to chop her longer strands.

"I did a film in Ireland with Michael Fassbender, and I cut it in a bowl cut for that," the 35-year-old actress told InStyle at the event. "It was awesome for the movie, but then when I was home, I couldn't make it work!"

So, she turned to the pros — specifically, NYC stylist Serge Normant.

"I walked into his salon and said, 'Can you fix it?' and it came out looking like this," she said.

Her husband, Peter Sarsgaard, loves the look.

"I think the way he feels about me really does not have a lot to do with my hair," she joked to People. "And I'm really incredibly grateful for that."

She's growing to love it, too.

"When I was about 25, I had really short hair, and I loved it, but I always thought I would never do it again,"the mom of Ramona and Gloria Ray said. "But it feels great to have short hair! And it's nice now that the weather's gotten warm."

That's the glass-half-full spirit we love!

Good news: Ryan Lochte says he's single . Bad news: We have to watch him go on dates with other women on his new E! reality show.

Ryan Lochte

By now, you've probably seen the promos for Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte's new reality show on E!

We've seen 'em, too — and really, we have no clue what it'll show the Florida hottie doing, other than saying "JEAH!" about 50,000 times.

So, what will What Would Ryan Lochte Do? actually be about? Swimming, apparently.

"My biggest passion is swimming, but it's a sport that doesn't really get talked about until the Olympics, unlike baseball, football, and basketball, which are on TV all the time. That's one of the reasons I wanted to do this show,"he told Cosmopolitan in a new interview. "I want people to enjoy the sport as much as I do. My whole family swims! You can pretty much say chlorine runs in our veins."

Ryan Lochte is okay with SNL parody >>

That's all well and great, but we'd rather see more about his personal life — specifically, his love life.

"I am a single guy right now, but you'll see me going on dates," he added of the show, premiering on April 21.

So, what does a Ryan Lochte conquest look and act like?

"I need someone who is able to hold her own — if a girl is really independent, that's a turn-on for me. And she doesn't have to play a sport for me to be interested in her!" he said.

Ryan Lochte pees gold >>

But, she can't have one nasty habit — put out those butts, ladies.

"If a girl smokes, that's a big turn-off," he added.

And she has to be OK with his family.

"I know my family would never steer me wrong, so I go to them for advice," he continued. "And if I go on more than a couple of dates with one girl, it could get to that point where she would meet the Lochtes.
"

Two dates? That's a little soon, don't you think?

Ryan Lochte's one-night stands? Dear mom got it twisted >>

"I mean, I gotta feel comfortable with her in order for that to happen! But I want a best friend and a lover at the same time," he said. "And I want her to make me laugh. I like someone who doesn't care what people think — who's not afraid of making a fool out of herself."

Any volunteers? Too bad: We're in line first.

Christopher Nolan won't produce WB's Justice League

It's time to put the rumors to rest. Director and producer Christopher Nolan isn't bringing the Justice League to life. His reps, as well as Warner Bros. boss Jeff Robinov, have confirmed it.

Christopher Nolan

Christopher Nolan's done with comic book movies . The director of The Dark Knight trilogy is cutting his ties with the DC Universe. Following this summer's Man of Steel, he has no other superhero films in the pipeline.

Fans were hoping Nolan would have a hand in Warner Bros.' Justice League movie. However, the film, which will feature several DC characters like Batman, will have to do without Nolan's influence. EW spoke with WB president Jeff Robinov, who confirmed that Nolan was out.

Robinov was asked if it's true that Nolan and Christian Bale would work on Justice League.

His answer: "No, it's not."

Perhaps it's all for the best. Nolan's version of Batman wouldn't fit with the Justice League mold. Thankfully, Man of Steel will allow WB to create a superhero universe similar to what Marvel did with The Avengers.

its new Batman?

Robinov explained, "Nolan's Dark Knight series was deliberately and smartly positioned as a stand-alone. The world the films lived in was very isolated, without any knowledge of other superheroes. What Zack [Snyder] and Chris have done with this film is allow you to really introduce other characters into the same world."

What characters can we expect?

"We'll announce something in the next several weeks that will hopefully position the DC characters and the movies we're going to be making," Robinov revealed.

Justice League's superhero roster revealed?>>

The lineup shouldn't be too shocking. A few months ago, the rumored Justice League roster was leaked. The team is said to include Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Martian Manhunter and Aquaman.

Man of Steel opens in theaters June 14, while Nolan's working on his sci-fi film, Interstellar.

Why is Jay-Z and Beyoncé's trip to Cuba controversial?

Earlier this week, Jay-Z took Beyoncé on a romantic trip to Cuba for their fifth wedding anniversary. Who cares, right? Well, it seems that some do — and here’s why.

Jay-Z and BeyonceTime was when a wealthy celebrity could get on a jet and fly to Havana for some cuba libres, dance into the night and be back home the next morning. However, those times have changed, and evidently Jay-Z and Beyoncé didn't get the message.

History

In the 1930s, '40s and early '50s, Cuba was a place where many wealthy Americans had houses and vacationed. Obviously Cuba's history is long and storied, but for our purposes, this all changed in the late '50s when the Cuban Revolution deposed the Batista regime and the next leaders nationalized private property.

So the United States imposed a commercial, economic and financial embargo in 1960. While it's gone through many changes since then, the embargo is still in place, and that means you can't just hop on a plane and fly to Cuba for a vacation .

Cuba's at the top of our top travel destinations for 2013 >>

So how did Jay-Z and Beyoncé get away with it? Well, there is a "people-to-people" clause in the embargo, meaning U.S. citizens can go to Cuba on an organized cultural exchange trip. Considering the Carters went to a local school, took in a couple of performances and met with Cuban artists, they seemed to have stayed within the U.S. government's rules.

Backlash

The fact that the trip was technically legal didn't stop many lawmakers from questioning whether or not the Carters got special treatment from their friend President Obama in allowing them to go to the forbidden island.

Specifically, Marco Rubio, the Republican senator from Florida, said in a public statement on Monday that the Cuban regime had benefitted from the trip by using it as propaganda and the U.S. Treasury Department had knowingly sanctioned it.

He went on to argue, "If true, the Obama administration should explain exactly how trips like these comply with U.S. law and regulations governing travel to Cuba, and it should disclose how many more of these trips they have licensed."

Beyoncé wrote an Election Day love letter to President Obama >>

But Senator Rubio isn't alone. Other lawmakers have also criticized the trip, citing the Cuban government's egregious violation of human rights.

In a letter to the Treasury Department, U.S. representatives Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart of Florida wrote, "The restrictions on tourism travel are commonsense measures meant to prevent U.S. dollars from supporting a murderous regime that opposes U.S. security interests at every turn and which ruthlessly suppresses the most basic liberties of speech, assembly and belief."

Response

So that's the story. HOVA took Beyonce to HOVA-na, and now people are mad.

But if you're Jay-Z, you don't get mad. You get your friends together, record a response and release it to the world. That's the Carter way of getting even.

Should Beyoncé and Jay-Z have gone to Cuba? Let us know in the comments.

Rachel McAdams may star in new Cameron Crowe film

We loved to hate her in Mean Girls and cried with her in The Notebook. Now we may get to see the actress alongside two of Hollywood's hottest talents.

Rachel McAdamsRachel McAdams may soon lend her unmistakable screen presence to Cameron Crowe's next movie.

Deadline reports that McAdams may take on a supporting role in the project.

The as yet untitled comedy stars Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, but little else is known about the plot.

Crowe also penned the film's screenplay.

Rachel McAdams joins clean-cut celebs' need for weed>>

The flick should prove interesting since it has not only a great director at the helm but some of the biggest stars in Hollywood as well.

Crowe first caught the attention of audiences when he directed the hit romantic comedy Say Anything. In 1995, he released the now iconic Jerry Maguire.

Yet aside from Almost Famous, released in 2000, his later efforts haven't been as well received. Films like Elizabethtown and We Bought a Zoo proved to be somewhat disappointing.

Perhaps his newest venture, set to begin shooting in October, will mark his comeback.

Rachel McAdams and Michael Sheen split!>>

As for McAdams, the film seems to be right up the the 34-year-old's alley. In the past, she's made scene-stealing appearances in comedies like Mean Girls and Wedding Crashers but has also thrived in dramas like The Notebook.

McAdams can currently be seen in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder, opposite Ben Affleck. The romantic drama features McAdams as Affleck's childhood friend, whom he reconnects with while visiting his hometown.

This November, McAdams will appear in the sci-fi dramedy About Time, which also stars Bill Nighy and Tom Hollander. That same month, she'll star in the thriller A Most Wanted Man. The politically charged film features Robin Wright, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Willem Dafoe.

Jay-Z did not get White House clearance to go to Cuba

Jay-Z and Beyoncé decided to go on a trip to Cuba for their five-year anniversary, but some lawmakers are questioning who said they could go. The White House says it wasn't the president.

Jay-Z and Beyonce

After Jay-Z and Beyoncé traveled to the mostly forbidden land of Cuba, many questioned how legal the trip was.

"U.S. law prevents Americans from traveling to Cuba unless they do so under a general, religious or 'people-to-people' license," according to ABC News. "Trips for tourism are not allowed."

According to a new song by Jay-Z, the trip was condoned by the White House.

In the rapper's new song "Open Letter," he makes a very brave statement, saying that President Obama himself gave Jay-Z and his wife permission to visit Cuba.

"I turned Havana into Atlanta," Jay-Z raps. "Boy from the 'hood, I got White House clearance / Obama said, 'Chill you gonna get me impeached.'"

Media asked White House spokesperson Jay Carney about the song — and the trip — in a press conference on April 11.

"I guess nothing rhymes with Treasury," Carney responded, smiling. "It's a song. The president's not communicating with Jay-Z over this trip."

Beyoncé's big announcement: A Pepsi commercial? >>

He went on to say that even if the administration had wanted to, it's not the White House's place to sanction trips to Cuba.

"I am absolutely saying that the White House and the president on down had nothing to do with anybody's personal, anybody's travel to Cuba," Carney continued, according to MTV. "That is something the Treasury handles."

And Carney is right. ABC News looked into it more and found out about the legality of the trip, as well as who ended up giving the final OK for Mr. and Mrs. Jay-Z to visit the country.

"The mystery of whether Beyoncé and Jay-Z's wedding anniversary trip to Cuba was legal has been solved," said ABC News. "The Treasury Department says the power couple's trip to Cuba was authorized under a licensed program that encourages 'meaningful contacts' with the Cuban people."

Jay-Z, sports agent? >>

According to MTV, the question was raised after three Republican lawmakers asked for an investigation into Jay-Z and Beyoncé's trip. The couple went to Cuba to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary.

Battle of the flicks: Disconnect vs. 42

Disconnect, a cautionary tale about the dangers of the internet, opens against the Jackie Robinson biopic, 42. While Disconnect questions our cyber-addicted families, 42 tells the story of an American hero. Which one should you see? Tough call!

Disconnect

Disconnect

Jason Bateman stars in this poignant film that depicts the worst-case scenario of internet fraud, identity theft and teen cyberbullying.

Three storylines interconnect that may scare you into canceling your Facebook account. This movie is a frightening examination of our national addiction to social media and why giving up our privacy online could be a very bad thing.

Here's what some other gals thought:

Elizabeth Weitzman of NYDailynews.com said, "Their job, as defined by the filmmakers, is thus: to shake viewers out of complacency, and remind us that these disconcerting stories might just as well be ours."

Amy Nicholson of the Los Angeles Times said, "Humans are forever prone to disaster, iPads just pave the way. His attack sounds one-note, but it's the fallout that holds our interest as morality isn't as binary as 1s and 0s. Alas, the flick can't resist overheating."

Claudia Puig of USA Today said, "Characters are richly drawn and relatable, though at times stories teeter on melodrama. The overall effect, however, is powerful."

Harrison Ford plays legendary Brooklyn Dodgers general manager Branch Rickey, and Chadwick Boseman plays the iconic Jackie Robinson, in this true story about two men who broke the color barrier in one of America's oldest traditions — baseball.

This movie is inspirational and well acted, even if the script is a bit clunky.

Check out these reviews from other women:

Susan Granger of SusanGranger.com said, "An inspiring reminder that we need real-world heroes to expand the limits of our own aspirations."

Nell Minow of Beliefnet.com said, "It is solidly entertaining, delivering all of the expected notes, and if it seems heavy-handed to anyone old enough to remember a time before the Montgomery bus boycott and the passage of the Civil Rights Act, it is perhaps understandable that Hollywood does not take for granted that younger audience members remember there was once a time when segregation was not only legal; it was the law."

Dana Stevens of Slate said, "By burnishing Jackie Robinson's legend to such an unnaturally high polish, 42 does Robinson the man a disservice."
