How to Spray-Paint Your Furniture Like a Pro

$

0

If your house or apartment is in dire need of a facelift, one of the easiest ways to make small renovations that truly stand out is by painting your furniture. And trust us, it's not as time-consuming (or as expensive!) as it sounds — especially if you opt for spray-painting your furniture instead.

Spray-painting gets the job done really fast, often in under 10 minutes. And compared to regular paint, it dries quickly, and you won't be dealing with any telltale brushstroke marks. Sounds great, right?

But first, you need to master the art of spray-painting, which we'll teach you to do below.

One tip before we set you loose, though: If you're a little hesitant to flip furniture currently in your home, opt for buying used furniture at a thrift store or via an app or website where people are selling used goods — so you can give your skills a test run first.

More: 6 Websites (That Aren't Craigslist) That Let You Buy & Sell Furniture

Step 1: Shop

Stock up on all the supplies you need to ensure you can complete your job quickly without another trip to the store. You'll need a mask, sandpaper, primer, spray paint and a sealer, depending on the project. Don't be tempted to buy the cheap or generic brands of paint. Brand names like Krylon or Rust-Oleum may cost a buck or two more, but it will be worth it in the end.

Much like other paint, spray paint has several different finish options, from flat to high gloss. Be sure to select the finish to fit your needs. For furniture, the higher the gloss, the easier it will be to clean. If it is a high-use piece, avoid flat paint — satin or gloss finishes work best for most projects. If you have a large project on your hands, do yourself a favor and invest in a spray paint handle — it can save your finger from aches and pains and make for a quicker job. They're only a few dollars at most hardware stores.

Step 2: Clean & prep

Be sure your furniture piece is clean and free of loose pieces or cracks. Tighten any loose screws and fix any structural issues so the piece is sturdy. For best results, sanding your furniture first is essential. Depending on the finish, you'll likely need a medium- to high-grit sandpaper. Sand the piece thoroughly, paying specific attention to any inconsistencies in the original finish or any rough areas. Always sand in the direction of the wood grain.

If you're painting over a piece of furniture with a smooth glossy finish — like most pieces made of particle board or MDF — you'll need to get that finish off as best as you can. Once it is sanded, wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove all the dust from the piece.

Step 3: Find a space

You should only spray-paint in a well-ventilated area and always wear a mask. Ideally you will be outdoors, so pick a day when the weather is neither too cold nor too hot, as that may affect dry times and create a bubbly finish.

In addition, avoid painting on a windy day. Not only will a lot of your paint blow off into the breeze, but you risk having particles of dust blow onto your wet project. Be sure to cover any surfaces that you don't want to get paint on, even if you don't think you're close enough for it to matter. Spray paint can travel.

Next: Step 4: Prime

A version of this article was originally published in March 2012.

Step 4: Prime

Other than sanding, priming is the most important part of your project, and it can even help make up for a poor sanding job. It will ensure even coverage and help the paint stick.

There are several varieties of spray paint primer available, including some tinted options that are perfect for projects where you're using a dark color like black or red.

Using long, even strokes, cover your piece with primer. Don't spray over areas that don't seem to be covered, as it can lead to dripping. Wait until the first coat dries and then add another coat or touch up if necessary.

It's a good idea at this point to do another brief round of sanding to remove any bubbles or inconsistencies that appear during the priming process. Be sure your piece is completely dry before you move on to color.

Step 5: Spray-paint it

Begin painting by using long, even strokes. Don't hold the paint too close to the piece or you may get rings or other marks of built-up paint. Much like the primer, don't try to cover it all with the first coat. A second coat is much better than drips that you'll have to sand off. Pay close attention to corners, arms, legs or ornate details, as that's where you are likely to get drips. It may look stripy initially, but those will be covered as you add more paint.

The best thing about spray paint compared to regular paint is that it takes less than 10 minutes to dry between coats, making for a quick job. Darker colors may require more coats than lighter colors. Let each coat dry completely, then assess if you want to add another.

Step 6: Seal it

Not all projects need to be sealed, but if you're spray-painting a high-use piece of furniture like a dining room table, a coat of polyacrylic will keep your furniture looking nice longer. Other projects may include desktops, armchairs and even coffee tables. Feel free to seal any project — it won't hurt it, it's just one more step.

Some other tips

If you make a mistake or have dripping or bubbling, don't panic; you can correct just about any error with another sanding job. Yes, it does take more time and work, but your piece won't be ruined. If you find your paint isn't sticking even after sanding and priming (this is rare), try another coat of primer and sand afterward before applying paint again. Spray paint doesn't work as well on some materials like plastic and some metals, so read the label carefully to be sure the paint will work for your project.

This Is How Katherine Heigl Landed Her Role on Suits

Being an actor, even an established one, requires a lot of waiting. Constantly auditioning, never knowing if a show will get renewed, seeing how audiences respond to a series or plotline – it all takes a lot of patience. But Katherine Heigl tried something new to win her role on Suits and her tactic was all about aggressively going after what she wants.

More: Jessica's Season 6 Suits Departure Was Perfect

“I totally pitched myself,” the 27 Dresses star told E! News Giuliana Rancic. Heigl explained that she’s been a huge fan of the show since it first began and her mother, who she works with, came up with the idea to call the showrunner. “We didn’t know at that point if it was going to go into an eighth season. So when [the show’s creator] said ‘I’m going to be busy with the eighth season’ I was like, ‘Really?’ Do you need anybody? ‘Cause I’m available.” It worked, since Suits star Meghan Markle happened to be leaving the show to marry Prince Harry.

Rancic asked Heigl the best part of being on the series now and the actress replied that it’s being such a big fan of the show. “I get to walk into something that I know I already love. It’s just been thrilling to kind of peek behind the curtain of a show I’ve kind of geeked out about.”

More: Katherine Heigl's Family Is Growing A Little Differently This Time

It’s not often that a show’s superfan gets to join the cast but Heigl joked that she’s going to try the tactic more often now. “I’m going to do that all the time. I’m just going to call everybody – the showrunners of all the shows I love – and be like, ‘Do you need a new character?’”

According to Variety Heigl will play Samantha Wheeler, a new law partner at the firm “who challenges the status quo and will either become the firm’s greatest ally or most powerful enemy.” Heigl told the publication “Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an EP I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am immense fan of. I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”

It appears that the character will be a formidable member of the firm. Heigl recently posted a set photo showing her character as all business. (Also, great shoes.) “Being a boss! #SmanthaWheeler has a badass office that I am thoroughly enjoying pretending is mine! #suitsusa #girlswithgumption #anythingyoucandoicandobetter,” she captioned.

So while Suits fans may be mooring the loss of Markle’s character it looks like the show’s legacy will remain safely in the hands of someone who loves it just as much. Season 8 will premiere on USA in the fall.

6 Signs You Might Be Gaslighting Your Child

Parents are just as flawed and complex as everybody else, and no matter how hard we try, our negative traits are going to affect our children in one way or another. Gaslighting is an especially egregious form of psychological abuse and one that's pretty darn complicated because the person doing it is usually totally oblivious to their own behaviors. When you gaslight your child (or anyone else), you're essentially setting them up to make them feel angry or upset — and then manipulating them to make them believe they have zero reason to actually be emotional.

"Gaslighting in practice is often subtle and can be difficult to detect, especially in the context of parent-child relationships, where imbalances of power are often a taken-for-granted norm," authors Damien W. Riggs and Clare Bartholomaeus state in a February 2018 study from Flinders University in Australia.

MorePolite but Deadly Clapbacks to Unsolicited Parenting Advice

In other words, you make them feel — over and over again — like they're going crazy. "Having your reality questioned has got to be the most damaging thing out there, because our reality and the way we think about the world is kind of all we have," Dr. Ben Michaels, a clinical psychologist in New York City, tells Health magazine.

The word itself comes from a 1938 play called Gaslight in which a husband dims the gas-powered lights in their home every evening and then vehemently denies it when his wife asks about the change she notices. What does the antagonist get out of such a ridiculous game? A feeling of control and power.

"Parents gaslight their children when either they lose touch with what antecedents are triggering them or purposefully set up antecedents to trigger their children — set them up to fail, that is," Cara Itule, a licensed marriage and family therapist at the Diagnostic and Counseling Center, tells SheKnows. "The etiology of a gaslighter parent can range from many different backgrounds. The parent can be a very overwhelmed parent, self-involved or narcissistic parent, uneducated or low-intelligence parent or an immature parent."

According to Healthline, people who gaslight other people in their lives may have a psychological disorder called narcissistic personality disorder. A person with this type of mental disorder has an inflated sense of self and needs and craves attention but may secretly feel vulnerable and ashamed of themselves — she or he also feels intense hurt when someone criticizes them, which explains why it's often so difficult for narcissist parents to even realize they are gaslighting their kids.

More: The Good News About Your Child's Bad Behavior

If left unchecked, long-term effects of gaslighting can leave the child feeling highly insecure, bitter, inflexible, anxious and aggressive, Itule says. "They grow up to be unsure of their place in the world, develop inferiority issues or seem highly paranoid and mistrusting of others," she says. "They may be more susceptible to abusive relationships as adults."

If you're unsure whether you're gaslighting your child, here are six signs that may convince you to seek help:

1. You exaggerate every conflict: There's never a small issue; every single thing your child does wrong causes you to fly off the handle and react. Whether your toddler lied about going potty or your teen lied about stealing the car, both can set you off in a way that makes your children question whether there is any sense or logic to your anger.

As a result, your kids may purposely begin keeping more from you because they never know what's going to set you off. Or they may begin lying to avoid the constant put-downs because they may feel as though they can't do anything right — two warning signs of being a victim of gaslighting detailed in the book The Gaslight Effect: How to Spot and Survive the Hidden Manipulation Others Use to Control Your Life written by Robin Stern, associate research scientist at the Child Study Center at Yale.

2. A meter maid is more flexible than you: You will not allow for any changes in your household routine, no matter how small. You need to feel completely in control of your environment at all times, which sometimes means you get unreasonably angry when your toddler refuses to take his nap at the hour that is best for you and your needs. This could lead your child to feeling like everything they do is wrong, one of the signs of being gaslighted in Stern's book.

3. You mock your kids' behaviors: Itule provides the following example to explain how a parent can gaslight a young child by humiliating them for having feelings:

“Sally is 3 and is crying because she wants to go to the park, but it's raining outside, so they can't go," Itule starts. "Sally is upset and frustrated. Her mother, Jill, is frustrated that her child won't stop whining, so she turns emphatically and mocks her by pretending she's Sally: 'Wah, wah, I want to go the park. I'm crying like a little baby. Nope!' Sally then feels confused, sad and highly distressed. She cries even harder, loses control and falls to the ground in a complete meltdown. Mom walks away from her child."

4. You overassert your power: As the parent, you're already the one in control of mostly everything, but that may not feel like enough for you. The moment you sense your child is flexing their wings and asserting control, you feel fear that this could mean they may one day not need you — or may no longer view you as the center of their universe. You combat this by talking crap about all their friends, none of which you think are "good enough" for them, and continually sending your child the message that they are helpless without your guidance. This in turn isolates your child from friends and family — another sign of gaslighting in Stern's book.

MoreKidstrology: Your Parenting Horoscope for May

5. You insist you know your children better than they know themselves: No one, not even your frustrated kid, can convince you that you may actually be wrong about their feelings and intentions. If you have it in your mind that they are responding a certain way because they're angry or sad, you'll tell them they're lying or that they aren't grown-up enough to understand.

Trivializing how your child feels instills doubt in their sense of judgment and memory — another sign from Stern's book (constantly second-guessing one's self).

6. You never apologize to your kids:  Saying I'm sorry, to you, is the equivalent of surrendering all your power and having no worth as an individual. As the parent, you feel you never need to apologize and will typically wait as long as it takes for your child to come to you after a conflict — no matter who is actually at fault.

"[Gaslighters] have to be right about everything. Someone's got to be wrong, and that is not going to be you," Dr. Jeremy Sherman, a social science researcher and blogger at Psychology Today, told Health magazine.

Never owning your mistakes sends your kids the message that they can do very little right in life and that they aren't worthy of an apology.

This Actor Is Leaving Chicago Fire & It Will Never Be The Same

After six seasons as badass firefighter/paramedic Gabriela "Gabby" Dawson, Monica Raymund is officially leaving Chicago Fire. She's been part of the NBC franchise since its debut, but now she says it's time for her to move forward.

More: This Is Why Sophia Bush Really Quit Chicago P.D.

On Tuesday, Raymund announced her official exit from the Dick Wolf drama on Twitter. "It has been an honor to play Dawson on Chicago Fire and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life,” Raymund wrote. “I am so thankful for the journey and especially to all of you for watching, but I have made the decision that it’s time for me to move on to the next chapter in life. I'll always be proud to have played a fierce paramedic with such an incredible cast and crew. On to the next! See you on the ice. Love, Monica."

Right before the Season 6 finale on May 10, there were reports circulating Raymund wouldn't be returning to the series and now we know for certain. Her departure is a huge loss for 'shippers of Dawsey (Dawson and Matt Casey, played by Jesse Spencer). They've been a massive part of the show and one of the most beloved couples.

More: Chicago P.D. Is Ruined Now That Sophia Bush Quit the Show

But as fans have seen over the past few seasons, they've hit many rough patches. It all came to a head in last Thursday's finale when Dawson decided she wanted to have a baby — and carry the child, despite doctors telling her she has an aneurysm that could rupture during pregnancy.

She and Casey were at odds by episode's end with Dawson saying it's her body, her risk and her choice. Casey didn't like hearing that and hit his breaking point. As he said to her, "I guess that's the crux of it, the thing I've never really understood." He continued, "When you adopted Louie without me, when you hid the fact you were helping Bria. You make these big emotional decisions as if my input doesn't matter."

Dawson tried to argue with Casey that she can't be dependent on how he feels or on her husband. He didn't agree and asked, "Why not, Gabby?! What's wrong with being dependent on someone who loves you with everything he has?! This is one decision you can't leave me out of. Either we're in it together or we're not in it at all."

Dawsey Problems

More: Sophia Bush on Starting a New Chapter

The finale ended with Dawson wanting to know more about a team of volunteer paramedics heading to Puerto Rico to help after the disastrous hurricane. She didn't make her final decision, but now that we know Raymund is done, there's a good chance Dawson opted to go.

What does this mean for Casey (Spencer is returning)? It seems most likely Dawsey will get divorced, which is something Spencer reflected on while chatting with Us Weekly after the finale.

"If the relationship couldn’t last, then it would be good for Casey to be single and focus on being a firefighter again," the actor told Us. "I think, taking time to take a step back from relationships and to gather himself again … they’ve seen a lot of tragedy so they’re good at picking up the pieces and moving on. I’d like to see Casey be a single guy and really focus on his job and do what he does best."

Raymund's exit is going to cause a major shift in Chicago Fire. Dawson's been a huge player since the very beginning, so it will be interesting to see how the drama pushes on without her. Even more so, Casey's storyline has always involved Dawson for a long time, so who knows what's in store for him.

More: 'Chicago Fire' Might Kill These 7 Characters in the Season 6 Premiere

Whatever happens, it's going to be a lot for fans to digest, especially female viewers. Dawson has been an empowering figure for women since the get-go and her exit marks a sad day. But, Raymund wanting to make a life change and pursue new opportunities is her choice and one fans should support.

Nikki Bella Imagines Herself Getting Back Together With John Cena, Too

Could a reconciliation really be possible for Nikki Bella and John Cena? After Cena went on the Today show earlier this week and confessed he still has deep feelings for Bella and wanted her back, it seems that Bella is now Team Reconciliation, too.

More: John Cena & Nikki Bella Officially Called Off Their Engagement, & We're Not OK

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight on Monday, May 14, Bella revealed that her feelings for Cena haven't diminished since they called off their engagement. "John is such an amazing man. He really is the love of my life," she told the news outlet. "I truly hope one day that we can work it out and get back together. I think there is hope."

And while Bella also commented to ET that right now she's taking time to find herself and do what's right for her, she hasn't stopped communicating with Cena. "We still talk. We go on and off, but yeah, right now we're talking. It's nicer when you're with someone who is understanding because you can keep a really great relationship. So that's really nice."

It's understandable that after six years together, Bella and Cena are still on speaking terms right now. Breaking up is tough stuff. The fact that these two have made it known that just because they called off the engagement they're not calling it off forever feels like a good sign, especially for fans of the couple who just want them to be happy.

That said, it feels like it has been a rollercoaster for Bella. Since the split and her subsequently processing that split in public and private, there have been details that have come out about the couple's relationship leading up to the breakup that have been believed to have caused it.

One major detail that could have contributed to stress fractures in the relationship came out in People in April, all about how Cena had once told Bella she would have to sign a 75-page agreement if they were going to live together at his place. Now, a new clip from the upcoming season of Total Bellas gives viewers insight into the months immediately leading up to the split and the literal and emotional distance between Bella and Cena.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, the clip shows Bella talking about just how much time she and Cena had spent together since they got engaged in April 2017.

"What's hard at times and what people don't realize about my relationship is I'm alone a lot and I'm alone in these big, beautiful homes, which you're like, gosh, I mean, these homes are unreal. But to be honest, since we've gotten engaged, John and I have probably shared our bed together maybe 30 days total out of, like, six months. Or, like, 40 days," she reveals.

Despite the potential problems that Bella and Cena were working through in the months leading up to their split, it's now clearer than ever that these two are committed to make it working again. It seems like Bella might take a little longer to get there (which is totally her right and she can take all the time she needs), but given what we know now, we shouldn't consider these two officially done by any means.

Fact or Fiction? Debunking the Most Common Myths About Hair & Water

$

0

Water rarely gets a bad rap. It helps keep vital organs functioning, and when our hair just isn’t working, that added moisture makes it easier to style. And if you’re growing out a very short haircut like me, wetting your hair every day almost feels necessary. But that daily process also takes time, and according to Britta Cox, founder of the innovative hair-drying system Aquis, it could be doing more harm than good.

While too much heat on the hair can cause irreversible damage, dousing it in water isn’t any better. Ahead, we debunk the biggest myths about how our hair interacts with water and finally separate fact from fiction... just in time for a new season.

More: A Guide to the Hair & Skin Benefits of Castor Oil

Wet hair creates better curl definition

The verdict: Fact (sort of)

Although getting your hair wet can help your curls re-form and take shape, the by-product will almost always be frizz. “Think of when you go out when it’s raining, and you just spent all this time on your hair in the morning. You’d protect your hair from the rain because it causes frizz, right? Spraying water onto your hair can help the curls re-coil, but also will cause that same frizz rain will,” says Cox.

To harness the benefits of wet curls, try a resetting spray instead. This will give them spiral and bounce but also protect them from the side effects of water.

Going outside with wet hair is OK

The verdict: Fiction

Most of us will walk out the door with wet hair to avoid the blow-drying and flat-ironing that leads to heat damage. But according to Cox, leaving hair soaking wet isn’t good for it either.

“Think about your nails after you come out of a bath. They look and feel soft and weak — not strong and healthy as they do when they are dry. This same thing happens to your hair after long exposure to water (your hair and your nails are both made of keratin),” she says.

The fancy word for this chemical change is called hygral fatigue, which is better known as water fatigue. Putting your hair through this on a daily basis weakens the hair strands, leading to breakage, frizz and all of the other signs of damage we’ve grown accustomed to. So don’t do it!

More: Halsey Calls Out Hotels for Only Making "White People Shampoo"

Water type doesn’t matter

The verdict: Fiction

Hard water, or water that has a high mineral content, can absolutely negatively impact your hair. So what separates “hard” water from the regular kind? Think of it like this: a water molecule is made of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.

But when water molecules percolate through limestone (i.e., pipes), they can pick up extra minerals, such as calcium and magnesium deposits, that can not only show up on your shower head but get into your hair too.

“Think about that white stuff that can appear on your shower door — those are the deposits being left in your hair,” says Cox. “Depending on the hard water type, it could even be making your hair more weighed down, meaning you’re spending more time volumizing your hair with products and heat.”

Air-drying is better than heat-drying

The verdict: Fact (sort of)

There’s no clear-cut answer to this. While leaving hair wet can result in a lot of damage, so can blow-drying it.

“You know, a lot of people don’t know this, but leaving hair soaked with water without zapping it out can result in a lot of damage similar to heat — frizz, dullness, tangles, breakage,” says Cox. “However, heat can actually break the bonds in curly hair (ask any curly-haired person who has suffered from severe heat damage) — meaning your hair can actually stop curling. You can’t rebuild those bonds once they’re broken too.”

Although a diffuser attachment won’t completely reverse the damage, it’ll certainly ease the distribution of heat onto your strands.

The hair porosity test is accurate

The verdict: Fiction

Experts routinely say that the hair’s ability (or lack thereof) to retain moisture largely determines the way we should treat it, thus maximizing the benefits of our go-to products. The most popular way to determine where our hair falls on the porosity scale involves cutting a small strand from our head and dropping it into a glass of water. If the strand floats after three to four minutes, you categorize as low porosity. If it sinks, consider your hair high porosity.

Cox says that the accuracy of this test is generally true, “but if your hair is covered with oil or sebum, it will likely float, even if it is porous,” so this test isn’t the end-all, be-all.

It’s OK to rinse your hair with hot water

The verdict: Fact (sort of)

Washing the hair with hot water actually accelerates the water fatigue process we talked about before. “However, once the hair is fatigued, rinsing it with cold water doesn’t make the cuticles close any faster. Cold water is great for your lymphatic system and skin, but doesn’t do anything for your hair,” says Cox.

Her best advice would be not to wash — or rinse — your hair with scalding-hot water. Instead, be gentle on it, like you would your skin.

Drinking a lot of water will help my hair grow faster

The verdict: Fiction

Although water is essential to the body, drinking more of it won’t have a direct effect on hair growth. What matters more is how water is topically applied to the strands.

“Water is great for your skin, though, and as your scalp is skin, water is probably good for your scalp health,” says Cox.

More: The Truth About How Often You Should Shampoo Your Hair

Steam is good for hair

The verdict: Fiction

While steam may be an effective detoxifying method for hair, it actually has the opposite effect on hair strands, damaging them from the inside out.

“When it comes in contact with water (including in the steam form), the inside core of your hair strand swells and bloats, pushing open the protective layers (called cuticles). Cuticles just aren’t meant to open and close that often. They’re not hinges. Broken cuticles are hair breakage. Open cuticles are frizz. Cuticles catching onto each other are tangles. Healthy hair is basically healthy, flat-lying cuticles,” says Cox.

More: How to Repair Damaged Hair Without Cutting It

Satin is the best fabric for hair

The verdict: Fiction

Although satin is cheaper and more accessible, silk is actually the best fabric for hair since it’s gentler. While the latter can give you a similar slippery feeling, it’s usually blended with rougher polyester. At the same time, neither silk nor satin is exactly ideal for drying sopping wet hair.

The next best thing would be a microfiber towel, which tends to dry hair faster than a cotton towel. But since they are also designed with an electromagnetic charge to catch dirt and moisture, that same charge also catches onto vulnerable wet strands, causing breakage, frizz and tangles.

If you need a happy medium, Cox recommends her Aquis towel. It dries with the speed of a traditional microfiber one but is made with a unique patented technology similar to workout gear that gently wicks away moisture.

The Cast of Grey's Anatomy in Their First Episodes vs. Now

For 14 seasons, Grey's Anatomy has been a mainstay on our TV screens — a comforting constant no matter how chaotic life gets. Over time, the faces roaming the halls of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital have surpassed simply being familiar. The characters feel like old friends who've grown alongside us. Perhaps that's why it's so easy to forget that more than a decade has passed and, just as it has treated us in real life, time has aged the good doctors of Grey Sloan.

Or how about when Alex Karev was a cocky jerk making the rounds (wink wink, nudge nudge) with every nurse in a 30-mile radius? Much has transpired since the first episode of Grey's Anatomy in 2005. The characters have endured heartbreak, joy, loss, love, near-death experiences and everything in between.

But can you see it on their faces? We went way back in time to pull photos from your favorite characters' first episodes and compare them to the doctors they are today. Warning: This experience may make you acutely aware of your own mortality.

1. Ellen Pompeo as Dr. Meredith Grey

Grey's Anatomy Meredith

It's impossible to look back on Meredith Grey's beginning and not feel a little sad since her beginning is all wrapped up in Derek Shepherd (may he #RIP). But aside from moving beyond that girl in the bar, Meredith's life has changed in myriad other ways, too: She's now a widow, a mother of three, chief of general surgery, a Harper Avery award winner and much more. Oh, and she's almost died about 100 times.

2. Justin Chambers as Dr. Alex Karev

Grey's Anatomy Alex Karev

Aw, look at little baby Karev! Then again, for as cute as the younger version of Meredith's "person" was, he wasn't exactly the loyal, kindhearted (albeit hotheaded) doctor we've all since come to know and love. Back then, he was more interested in the on-call room than in saving kids' lives. If there was a Most Improved Player award, it would definitely go to this guy.

3. Chandra Wilson as Dr. Miranda Bailey

Grey's Anatomy Miranda Bailey

Is it just us, or has Miranda Bailey softened in both looks and personality over the years? In the beginning, she was arguably the most feared doctor on staff at Grey Sloan — with a severe haircut to match her hard personality. However, in addition to a better coif, Miranda has morphed into a much more empathetic person... or, at least, residents no longer flee at the sight of her.

4. James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber

Grey's Anatomy Richard Webber

He may have less hair than he did in Season 1, but we'd argue that Dr. Richard Webber has gained so much more in the trade-off. Sure, he lost his loving wife Adele. But he has since remarried to Dr. Catherine Avery, formed a close bond with Meredith, reconnected with the daughter he didn't know he had (Maggie) and kicked his alcohol addiction for good.

5. Kevin McKidd as Dr. Owen Hunt

Grey's Anatomy Owen Hunt

Would it be wrong to say this man ages like a fine wine? Dr. Owen Hunt made us all swoon when he first swooped in as a gung-ho military man to yank an icicle out of Cristina Yang. And now, well, he's making us all swoon as head of surgery and current foster parent of one super-cute little kid.

6. Jessica Capshaw as Dr. Arizona Robbins

Grey's Anatomy Arizona Robbins

Although Jessica Capshaw's departure from Grey's has already been announced, we're clearly not ready to let go of her incredible character just yet. From the day she joined the team at Grey Sloan, Dr. Arizona Robbins has been a breath of fresh air. Who will be the bouncy, perpetually happy person to balance out Mer's dark and twisty persona once Arizona's gone?

More: These Grey's Anatomy Fan Favorites Are Officially Done, & We're Not OK

7. Sarah Drew as Dr. April Kepner

Grey's Anatomy April Kepner

Again, we're not ready. It's bad enough that Grey's is making us say goodbye to Arizona; it's even worse that they're taking away Arizona's BFF, April, in the same fell swoop. It's particularly difficult to say goodbye to April when you consider her tremendous growth since her first episode. She's been fired, she's lost a baby, she's gotten divorced, she's suffered a crisis of faith — and yet she always bounced back. She will be missed.

8. Jesse Williams as Dr. Jackson Avery

Grey's Anatomy Jackson Avery

My, my, my... how the times have changed for Dr. Jackson Avery. When he first joined Grey Sloan as part of the Mercy Grace merger, he desperately avoided any association with his famous family. He was also overconfident and not at all on the career path for plastic surgery. Now, he basically runs the hospital on behalf of his family and is the head of plastics. And don't even get us started on his complicated love life.

9. Camilla Luddington as Dr. Jo Wilson

Grey's Anatomy Jo Wilson

Were these pictures taken five years apart or five days apart? It's nearly impossible to tell (although the answer is the former). Either actress Camilla Luddington has stumbled across the fountain of youth or being delirious in love with Alex Karev keeps Jo looking just as young as the first day she came to Grey Sloan.

10. Caterina Scorsone as Dr. Amelia Shepherd

Grey's Anatomy Amelia Shepherd

Poor Amelia — she's right up there with Meredith in the "why do horrible things keep happening to me?" department. From battling substance abuse issues to losing her child to just recently having a large brain tumor removed, Derek Shepherd's little sis has overcome a lot to become the doctor she is today.

More: This Is How Grey's Anatomy Affects Our View of Medical Care

11. Kelly McCreary as Dr. Maggie Pierce

Grey's Anatomy Maggie Pierce

Say hello to the glow-up! Dr. Maggie Pierce was a hot mess when she first wandered into Grey Sloan, but she has since become one of the most endearing "new" characters on the long-running series. She's still awkward, of course — that's part of her charm. Just ask Jackson.

12. Kim Raver as Dr. Teddy Altman

Grey's Anatomy Teddy Altman

Although Teddy isn't a main character on Grey's Anatomy, she has been popping up for the better part of a decade now — and we're finally getting to see her come full circle. In the beginning, she was constantly pining over someone (mostly Owen). Now, she's strong enough to walk away from one-sided relationships. Did we mention she's also a kickass doctor? More Teddy, please!

Everything We Know About Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Wedding So Far

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding is almost here, and we couldn't be more excited. After a yearlong courtship, the pair announced their engagement in November 2017 and have spent the last six months planning what will no doubt be a beautiful wedding. As folks around the world prepare to celebrate this exciting day, it might be good to catch up on the wedding details that have been confirmed, proven false or widely speculated on. It's always good to be in the know, right?

Here's what you know should before Harry and Markle head to the altar in a few days' time.

More: How to Watch Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Wedding

The basics

The wedding is happening on Saturday, May 19. The festivities will kick off around 12 p.m. GMT, which is 7 a.m. EST and 4 a.m. PST for us Americans.

The wedding location

The wedding will be held at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

According to Kensington Palace, after exchanging vows, Harry and Markle will lead a parade through the streets of Windsor, riding in a horse-drawn Ascot Landau carriage the couple chose themselves. It's something Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge did on their wedding day. In fact, every British royal couple has gone on the traditional horse-drawn carriage ride right after their wedding ceremony.

Then they'll head to the reception.

The wedding reception

People magazine reported that the wedding reception luncheon will be hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, and it will be held at St. George's Hall at Windsor Castle. Later, Harry and Markle will host their own reception at the Waterloo Chamber, St. George’s Hall and the Grand Reception Room within the castle.

How Meghan Markle & the royal family have prepared

As early as January of this year, all of Britain began preparing for the huge influx of tourism that will likely come with the wedding. When Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge tied the knot in 2011, 350,000 tourists came to the U.K. for the big day. Britain's Office of National Statistics is already expecting similar crowds around Harry and Markle's wedding date as well as a $680 million boost to the U.K.'s economy because of the wedding.

The couple was granted formal permission to marry by Queen Elizabeth II in March. British law states that the first six people in line for the throne must have the current monarch's permission before getting married. Should any of them marry without formal permission, they give up their right to ascend to the throne as well as the right of all their descendants to do so. Harry is currently fifth in line, right behind his niece, Princess Charlotte, meaning he had to have his grandmother's blessing or give up his spot.

"I declare My Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which Consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council," her letter read.

The paperwork was officially released for public viewing over the weekend of May 11.

In April, TMZ reported that Markle tried to fly under the radar when she visited the VFS Global U.K. Visa Application Centre in Chicago, but staying incognito proves tricky when traveling with four bodyguards. Eyewitnesses say Prince Harry's bride-to-be was polite to the staff and was in and out within 10 minutes. To expedite the process and receive her visa sooner, TMZ's sources reported, Markle paid around $1,500.

Although her visa will initially be for dual citizenship, Markle will be able to return in six months to file for permanent citizenship in the U.K., which Kensington Palace confirmed she intends to do.

The wedding guest list

Of the 600 official guests who received invitations, Entertainment Tonight speculated that several of Harry and Markle's celebrity friends made the cut. Since the Spice Girls' Mel B already hinted at an appearance, the girl band could possibly be attending and performing. In turn, their attendance would likely herald a cameo from soccer king David Beckham. Other potential celebrity attendees include Sir Elton John, Serena Williams, Priyanka Chopra and the cast of Suits — notably, Markle's on-screen love interest, Patrick J. Adams, and his new bride, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario.

On March 28, we learned through Entertainment Tonight that Harry and Markle had sent out 250 invitations to members of the British Armed Forces for the royal wedding. In a statement issued by Kensington Palace, it was noted that there would be a special role for the servicepeople in attendance.

"Regiments and units that hold a special relationship with Prince Harry will provide ceremonial support at the wedding and during the carriage procession at the request of Kensington Palace. More than 250 members of the Armed Forces will perform ceremonial duties at the wedding," the statement read.

ET provided additional reporting on some those duties. Members of the Household Cavalry will line the stairs at St. George's Chapel, where Harry and Markle will be married. Also, members of the Windsor Castle Guard — which includes those who have served in the 1st Battalion Irish Guards, Royal Navy Small Ships and Diving, Royal Marines, 3 Regiment Army Air Corps, The Royal Gurkha Rifles and Royal Air Force Honington — who all have ties back to Harry, will line the streets of Windsor, the city where St. George's is located.

On April 10, the Daily Mail reported that the Obamas didn't receive an invitation to the royal wedding — nor did current U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May or current U.S. President Donald Trump. Since Harry is not a direct heir to the throne, he doesn't need to have such a formal guest list. That said, one might suspect the royal family doesn't want to make a bold political statement by picking and choosing which heads of state they invite to the wedding.

The person in charge of giving the wedding address

Over the weekend of May 11, we learned who will give the address at their May 19 nuptials.

"Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have asked that The Most Reverend Michael Bruce Curry, the 27th Presiding Bishop and Primate of The Episcopal Church, give the address at their wedding," Kensington Palace revealed in a statement.

Curry, who will travel from Chicago, Illinois, to Windsor to take part in the service, said of the news, "The love that has brought and will bind Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle together has its source and origin in God, and is the key to life and happiness. And so we celebrate and pray for them today."

The wedding photographer

In April, Kensington Palace announced the name of the photographer hired for the big day.

"Prince Harry and Ms. Meghan Markle have selected Alexi Lubomirski to be the official photographer at their Wedding on Saturday 19th May," said the Palace's press release according to E! News. "Mr. Lubomirski will take the official photographs at Windsor Castle following the Wedding at St. George's Chapel.”

If Lubomirski's name sounds familiar, it's because you've seen it before — he took the royal couple's stunning engagement photos. Lubomirski expressed his excitement in the release, saying, "I could not be more thrilled or honored to photograph this historic occasion.”

The wedding planner

There was a fun report released via Vanity Fair in early April that the "secret wedding planner" and close friend of Meghan Markle's, Jessica Mulroney, will likely be attending the royal wedding. Mulroney, a Toronto-based stylist specializing in weddings, is one of the top guesses for Markle's matron of honor — while that's unconfirmed, VF strongly believes she will be, in addition to covertly planning the major event.

The wedding dresses

From Entertainment Tonight: "Information about Meghan's wedding gown has been kept under tight wraps, but we do know that Jessica [Mulroney] flew to London earlier this year to help her friend choose a dress designer."

Vanity Fair also reported that Markle will have two custom-made wedding dresses. The first will reportedly be "an elaborate yet traditional bridal gown" for the ceremony and reception. The other dress is reportedly "a glamorous, more sophisticated" gown she'll change into for the evening to "party the night away" with less restriction.

The official lineup for the bridal parties

Just days before the royal wedding on May 19, Elite Daily reported on the official lineup for the bridal parties. The respective bride and groom's parties will be comprised of some younger faces than Americans might be used to seeing.

The bridesmaid's include:

  • Princess Charlotte, 3
  • Florence van Cutsem, 3 (Prince Harry's goddaughter)
  • Remi Litt, 6 (Meghan's goddaughter)
  • Rylan Litt, 7 (Meghan's goddaughter)
  • Ivy Mulroney, 4 (Jessica Mulroney's daughter)
  • Zalie Warren, 2 (Prince Harry's goddaughter)

Meanwhile, Harry's page boys will be:

  • Prince George, 4
  • Jasper Dyer, 6 (Prince Harry's godson)
  • Brian Mulroney, 7 (Jessica Mulroney's son)
  • John Mulroney, 7 (Jessica Mulroney's son)
Additionally, it was confirmed in May that, contrary to previous rumors that Markle's close friend, Mulroney, would be part of the bridal party, the future royal had opted out of a matron or maid of honor.

The music

This is still mostly TBD! Rumors have included the Spice Girls, Ed Sheeran and Elton John, but we're not 100 percent sure who could or would officially play at the wedding reception.

However, in April, E! News reported that Kensington Palace has announced what kind of music the nuptials will include.

"Both Prince Harry and Ms. Markle have taken a great deal of interest and care in choosing the music for their Service, which will include a number of well-known hymns and choral works," the palace revealed.

James Vivian, the director of music at St. George's Chapel, has orchestrated several live performances to take place throughout the ceremony — think choral groups, soloists, acclaimed 19-year-old cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, the Christian gospel group The Kingdom Choir and more.

Also, within hours of the service ending — according to Britain's Decca Records — the music from Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding will be released on audio and be available on vinyl May 25.

The flowers

In mid-April, Kensington Palace revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have chosen a florist to create the church flowers for their big day. In another nod to the couple's modern style, they chose high-fashion florist Philippa Craddock, who has previously collaborated with upscale brands like Hermès and Alexander McQueen.

According to the Palace, Craddock will source the foliage locally, drawing largely from the gardens and lands of the Crown Estate and Windsor Great Park. The fair-trade florist will also try, when possible, to use flowers and plants that are in season. "These will include branches of beech, birch and hornbeam, as well as white garden roses, peonies and foxgloves. The designs will reflect the wild and natural landscapes from which many of the plants will be drawn," says a palace blog post on the subject.

Additionally, Craddock will incorporate pollinator-friendly plants from The Royal Parks to "provide a great habitat for bees and help to nurture and sustain entire ecosystems by promoting a healthy and biodiverse environment."

The honeymoon

According to Entertainment Tonight, Harry and Markle will be staying in London following their nuptials. "The couple will be going on a honeymoon, but not straight away," Kensington Palace spokesman Jason Knauf told ET. "They will have their first engagement as a married couple in the week after the wedding."

It's believed Harry and Markle will honeymoon in Namibia. Travel + Leisure magazine previously reported that the twosome will likely stay at Namibia's newest luxury camp, Natural Selection's Hoanib Valley Camp if the end up going.

How to watch the royal wedding

On April 11, the official announcement arrived from Today that they had secured coverage for the royal wedding. Among the Today correspondents going over to the U.K. to cover this spectacular event are Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb, who will be doing a live show overlooking Windsor Castle, with Al Roker and Sheinelle Jones hopping in to do additional coverage. Additionally, PBS, CNN, and BBC America will be streaming the royal wedding and extraneous festivities on the special day for us Americans to enjoy.

It's so easy to look at celebrities, marvel at their shiny, perfect lives, and feel like a total mess in comparison. ("Here she is at a fabulous party on a Tuesday night while I'm sitting at home on my couch in food-stained sweatpants wondering how long I can get away without washing my hair and trying to think of ways to get out of an event this weekend because that would mean interacting with other humans.")

Occasionally, though, we get glimpses behind the curtain to see what life is really like for those who seem to "have it all" — and usually, it's not the ideal world we've imagined. Yesterday, Selma Blair did exactly that, opening up on Instagram about her struggles in Hollywood and living with depression and anxiety.

"I came to Los Angeles over twenty years ago. I lived in this cute studio apt in Brentwood. I met my best friend next door. I met a cute guy and I am still pals with his sister. I had all the hope in the world," she wrote underneath a photo of her with blond hair from her early days in Hollywood. "Auditions came. Work came. I kissed a girl . Hi @sarahmgellar! made friends. I lost many and miss some. I battled alcoholism and depression and anxiety. I am now winning that battle. Hi a much better life! I worked with some of the best directors."

The Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde actor detailed some of her early career successes followed by her experience with postpartum depression following the birth of her son.

"I had a son. Hi Arthur! I lived with #postpartumdepression for 4 long years. Crippling anxiety. I fell apart. The last moment being very public. I was sorry. I was humbled. I stayed humble," Blair wrote.

And although she has overcome some major hurdles, she acknowledges that she still has tough days: "I cry quietly so as not to wake my child. I am a good mother."

Blair ended the post by saying that she has "always been an actress," but hasn't always had hope that she would work again, but wants to remain optimistic.

"I want to have hope again. I want to thank you all for believing in me," she wrote. "I want to find the right work for me. And for me as a mom and as a woman who has come so far in personal ways. I want to make us all proud."

Well, you are making us proud, Selma! Talking about living with mental illness and normalizing the conversation is hugely important, and we are thankful that she has chosen to speak up and wish her continued success in the rest of her career and with mental health.

The Feud Between Pauley Perrette & CBS Is Real

Welp, NCIS fans — while it was fun to imagine for a minute that Pauley Perrette was leaving the crime procedural for benign reasons, new developments suggest otherwise. In response to Perrette's recent vague tweets alleging "multiple physical assaults" on set, CBS has responded. And their feedback? Well, it feels a bit dismissive.

More: Pauley Perrette Cryptically Tweets About the Real Reason She Quit NCIS

On Tuesday, the network issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter addressing Perrette's recent tweetstorm, saying, "Pauley Perrette had a terrific run on NCIS and we are all going to miss her. Over a year ago, Pauley came to us with a workplace concern. We took the matter seriously and worked with her to find a resolution. We are committed to a safe work environment on all our shows."

Perrette, who played beloved fan favorite Abby Sciuto for 15 seasons, suggested in the tweets that she left NCIS not due to a workplace concern but rather a pattern of abuse. Although she claimed a "very rich, very powerful publicity 'machine'" was keeping her silent, Perrette's follow-up to CBS Wednesday makes it seem as though she wasn't alluding to the network.

Pauley Perrette 1

Pauley Perrette 1

"I want to thank my studio and network CBS They have always been so good to me and always had my back," she wrote on Monday night, sounding very different in tone from earlier tweets, including the following tweet:

Perrette Allegations Tweet 1

More: Pauley Perrette's Final Episode of NCIS Was an Emotional One

However, with so few details concerning Perrette's initial allegations, nothing can be ruled out yet. Is it possible the actor's response proves the rich and powerful machine she spoke of is coercing her into remaining quiet? Fans seem to think it's a possibility, asking the star on Twitter for more "transparency" and to "stand up for herself" publicly.

Of course, it's important to remember that Perrette is a victim, and it can take time for victims to truly feel safe enough to come forward. Even in the midst of the #MeToo movement, women continue to be persecuted for bringing allegations to light. It's an unimaginable battle to have to face on top of the actual assault or abuse itself.

Perrette's journey of disclosure only just began in October 2017, when she tweeted her own #MeToo story. Revealing that she'd lost her virginity at the age of 15 when she was raped by a football player, Perrette opened up about how that assault had a ripple effect on the rest of her life.

Pauley Perrette 2

Pauley Perrette 2

"My rape led me into a series of abusive relationships, terrible self-worth and self-blame, dismissing a few groping incidents, allowing myself to be bullied by a powerful man for way too long in a work environment until I finally said ENOUGH," she wrote, adding that it is imperative to dismantle "the illusion of power that makes abusers think they are untouchable."

More: These Goodbye Tributes to NCIS' Pauley Perrette Are Everything

If there is a silver lining to be found in this sad situation, perhaps it is action. Now that the friction between Perrette and CBS has become public fodder, hopefully, the network will address more thoroughly what steps they intend to take to protect people from such abuse in the future.

Updated May 16, 2018, 9:00 a.m. PT: In addition to NBC and PBS providing coverage of the royal wedding, we've learned of two other key networks that will be covering the royal festivities: Fox News and CNN.

According to a press release issued by Fox News, "Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt will co-host Fox & Friends Weekend live from Windsor, England" beginning at 2 a.m. PST (or 5 a.m. EST for those on the East Coast). Then, Earhardt will join up with anchors Shep Smith and Sandra Smith as they broadcast from outside St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle at 3 a.m. PST (6 a.m. EST for the East Coasters).

Additionally, CNN anchors Anderson Cooper, Alisyn Camerota and Don Lemon will begin their live broadcast of the royal wedding at 2 a.m. PST (or 4 a.m. EST).

Original story, published April 20, 2018, 4:35 a.m. PT: We are officially less than a month away from quite literally the most exciting celebrity wedding of the year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding. The wedding, which will take place at Windsor Castle on Saturday, May 19, has been one of the most highly anticipated events of 2018. As details have emerged about these royal nuptials, which include everything from speculation about who is designing Markle's dress to the kind of wedding cake they'll be enjoying to which destination they'll choose for their honeymoon, we've all gotten a bit obsessed. (How many other royal weddings could we ever see, though?)

But the key question on everyone's mind at this point has to be: How can we watch the royal wedding if we're one of the many admirers who can't attend? Here's everything you need to know about how to watch Prince Harry and Markle get hitched.

More: Everything We Know About Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Wedding So Far

Who is covering the wedding?

The primary U.S. outlet covering the royal wedding (which means we get an all-access pass, so to speak) is Today. It was announced on April 11 that the primary Today team would be heading to the U.K. for the weekend of the royal wedding. Lead coanchors Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb will reportedly do an exclusive live show on May 18, the day before the wedding, with familiar faces like Kathie Lee Gifford and Al Roker making appearances.

Then, on the day of the wedding, Guthrie and Kotb will reportedly be watching and commenting on the wedding as it happens, starting about 30 minutes in. If Today tuning in 30 minutes late freaks you out, PBS is also reportedly covering the royal wedding — thank goodness for that!

Where can you watch?

Americans are in luck because we'll be able to watch right on our televisions. Today's live coverage of the event will air on NBC. Deadline confirmed on April 11 that PBS will be airing the royal wedding in its entirety on May 19, with plenty of royals-themed programming airing in the week leading up to the event.

Additionally, The Sun reported that there will be a pool camera at the wedding, meaning a camera that other outlets can plug into to stream the coverage. This could mean that other mainstream outlets here in the U.S., like ABC, CBS and CNN, could have access to royal wedding footage on the day. For now, consider NBC and PBS your best bet and check your local TV listings on the day of to make sure you're not missing anything.

What time does it air?

Blame time zones. To see the royal wedding here in the U.S., you may have to go to bed pretty early on Friday night. In the U.K., the event kicks off at noon on Saturday, so that's 7 a.m. on the East Coast of the U.S. and 4 a.m. on the West Coast. You can always DVR it, of course, but why do that when you can watch it live and nap in the afternoon?

And there you have it. All the key details about how to watch the royal wedding. Make space in your DVR now, and remember to set no less than a dozen alarms for the day because you do not want to miss a single second of this once-in-a-lifetime event.

Shortly before giving birth to her daughter, True Thompson, Kardashian's life was thrown into disarray when her boyfriend, Tristan Thompson, faced serious cheating allegations. Now, she's focusing squarely on her duties as a new mom, moving her career forward — and possibly getting back to normal with Thompson. No matter which way you slice it, this is a lot for one person to handle, even if that person is Kardashian.

Given this hectic but wonderful new chapter in Kardashian's life, we wanted to consult the tarot cards to see what the future held for her. To read Kardashian, we used the Bosch Tarot deck, which is based on the fantastical, intense artwork of Dutch painter Hieronymus Bosch. This deck's theme is ideal for examining Kardashian's larger-than-life narrative while gingerly examining her own humanity, the real person who exists outside her public persona.

Kardashian is only a month into motherhood, the most delicate and vulnerable space for a woman to be in. With that, we chose not to create a spread to examine her present energy, but rather to choose a single card per question to create as accurate an answer as possible.

Khloe Kardashian tarot reading

What's in store for Kardashian & Thompson?

Card: King of Pentacles

Reading: The King of Pentacles reflects stability in the material world. These two are going to attempt to make their family work. Kardashian is in this for the long haul and has True’s future in mind. She will do what it takes, including couples therapy, to keep them all together. Kardashian has her eye on the prize. She sees the big picture of what she wants. She is willing to sacrifice and do what it takes to keep them together.

Will Kardashian ever get married again?

Card: 9 of Swords

Reading: No. The 9 of Swords is a tricky and painful card. Kardashian, while a romantic at heart, will keep her autonomy.

Will Kardashian have any more kids?

Card: The Lovers

Reading: Yes, when the Lovers card appears, future children are imminent. Kardashian will likely have two more little ones; however, chances are staggeringly high it will be with a different partner.

What will Kardashian's next career move be?

Card: King of Swords

Reading: The King of Swords is about words and articulation. Kardashian's next project will be a book project. She will express, explain and work through (almost like therapy) what motherhood feels like to her, how she is evolving and how she is dealing with Thompson. The act of collaborating with a ghostwriter will be a way for Kardashian to redefine her narrative. It will help her retell the story of this last year, this period of her life. Ultimately, by empowering herself, she will empower others. This is especially empowering for those of us who have walked in Kardashian’s shoes and relate to the sting of betrayal when we are at our most vulnerable selves.

Is the end of Keeping Up with the Kardashians near?

Card: 9 of Wands

Reading: The 9 of Wands is close to an ending. The tarot minor cards wind down by the number 10, the number of endings and finality. Yes, the end of the show is near but the Kardashians will, of course, live on in new iterations.

What will Kardashian's daughter, True Thompson, grow up to be?

Card: 5 of Wands

Reading: An athlete! The 5 of Wands carries the energy of sparring, games and activity. True will become quite the sportswoman. She will be gifted, high energy and follow in her father’s footsteps.

Wow, these cards surprised us as much as they likely surprised you. Do you think Kardashian and Thompson will make it work? Could Kardashian be planning a book as her next big career move? Only time will tell.

Kendra Wilkinson has never been shy, so it's little wonder the outspoken star isn't mincing words when it comes to divorce. You've got to hand it to the Playmate-turned-reality TV star — it's a gutsy move to seek relationship feedback from fans on social media. But that's precisely what Wilkinson did on Monday in an attempt to determine how to best handle her, ahem, needs post-split.

Ain't no shame in her game! And, hey, there' shouldn't be, right? Being divorced doesn't mean a person ceases to have the same sex drive they did when they were married. So Wilkinson asks the question countless other people have thought: How soon is too soon? Is there even such a thing?

Fans are on the fence. Some suggested she take matters into her own hands (*wink, wink, nudge, nudge*).

Given Wilkinson and ex-husband Hank Baskett's tumultuous past, it's not hard to understand that Wilkinson may need to blow off a little steam. After nearly a decade of marriage that was punctuated by Baskett's alleged cheating scandal and numerous big fights, the couple called it quits in April.

Per Us Weekly, Wilkinson ultimately made the decision to walk away for the sake of their kids, Hank IV, 8, and Alijah, 3. "She's been really unhappy and felt uncomfortable in the marriage and they have been fighting a lot. She wants [her children] to be in a healthy environment and that's why she decided to go through with this," a source told Us.

On May 8, the newly single mama of two reiterated on Instagram that the "kids come first." However, she also stressed that she'd been focusing on her "mental, emotional, n physical well being" lately — and is now in need of some fun.

And judging by the question Wilkinson posed to fans on Twitter, it seems as though the reality TV star could be one step closer to finding some.

Comedian, actor, writer, director and general badass Mindy Kaling is absolutely loving her latest role: mom to her baby girl, Katherine. In an excerpt from a Shape magazine interview published by E! News, Kaling shared some sweet details about bonding with her daughter, who she has nicknamed "Kit."

"When she was born, she was kind of skinny and anxious," Kaling shared. "I think she was like, 'Can this woman take care of me?' But during our many breastfeeding sessions, we've gotten to know each other, and she's learned to trust me over time."

The actor is also absolutely thrilled that her doctor told her "incessant chatter is good for a baby" because, let's be honest, no one kills it at incessant chattering quite as well as Kaling. "I've lived my whole life waiting to have a captive audience," she told Shape. (Somehow, we're not surprised by this piece of information.)

"I spend the days narrating to her," Kaling shared. "I'm constantly doing voiceover for her, as I did in The Mindy Project."

We don't know exactly what she's telling little Kit all day every day, but we're pretty sure it's hilarious. But Kaling's not so sure her daughter is enjoying the one-sided conversation as much as she is. "Honestly, I feel like her first words are going to be, 'Just stop. Please!'" the actor joked.

Kaling gave birth to Kit in late December and moved into a new house shortly thereafter — and she's in total nesting mode. "I didn't realize how tethered to my house I would be as a new mom," she told the magazine. "I'd thought I could bring the baby with me everywhere. I also couldn't quite believe that every three hours I needed to be home to feed her."

Stay tuned to find out if Kit's first words are, "Enough, Mom!"

Khloé Kardashian Shared the Sweet Reason She Named Her Daughter True

In typical Kardashian fashion, Khloé Kardashian gave her baby girl a totally unique name that was definitely not on our list of guesses. Less than a week after giving birth, Kardashian announced that she and boyfriend Tristan Thompson had named their baby girl True.

If you're anything like us, you've probably been wondering how she came up with this name. Well, wonder no longer! In a new post to her Khloé With a K app, Kardashian shared that her maternal grandmother suggested the name.

"My grandma MJ suggested True. She told me it was my great-grandfather’s first name and my grandfather’s middle name," Kardashian wrote. “It stuck with me for my entire pregnancy and was the only one I couldn’t get out of my head.”

It's no secret that the Kardashians are a tight-knit family, so it's both sweet and fitting that the star chose to give her baby a name with family origins.

Kardashian is currently at her home in Cleveland, but she's clamoring to get back to Los Angeles so MJ can meet her great-granddaughter in person.

This is the first time Kardashian has spoken about who suggested her daughter's name, but you may have caught momager Kris Jenner's reveal about its origins back on April 16.

Portia de Rossi Officially Quit Acting, & This Is Why

If Portia de Rossi has it her way, you won’t be hearing about her in any upcoming roles anytime soon — or, to be more specific, ever. During a telling appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the actor revealed to the host (and, of course, her wife) what prompted her to give up acting for good.

More: Ellen DeGeneres Wrote the Sweetest Message About Life With Portia de Rossi

Well, sort of. You see, although de Rossi says she actually retired over a year ago, you haven’t seen the last of her on the small screen just yet.

Despite making the decision about 18 months ago — just after Shonda Rhimes wrote her off Scandal — de Rossi reached out to Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz to break the news that she no longer wanted to act.

“And I said if there was a Season 5, I won’t be doing it because I quit acting,” she recounted to DeGeneres, “and he seemed really understanding and he totally got it. We had a great conversation and then he wrote me into five episodes. Don’t know how it happened, but yes I am on Season 5.”

Ha! But, like, can you really blame Hurwitz? It’s hard to imagine the (hilarious) show without de Rossi playing Lindsay Bluth Fünke.

While our first inclination is to be selfish and wish de Rossi would reconsider — maybe she could just hang on to that one gig? — we can’t say we’re not excited to see what comes of de Rossi’s next venture. After DeGeneres lovingly joked de Rossi was “aging out” of roles, the now-former actor gracefully explained the reason behind her major career change.

"I just kind of was wondering, 'Is there something that I could tackle now that I've never done before that would be really challenging and different?' I kind of knew what acting would look like for me for the next 10, 20 years, so I decided to quit and start a business,” de Rossi elaborated.

That business is General Public. An art-curation and publishing company, it’s being billed as the first of its kind for creating reproductions of original works by emerging and established painters around the globe.

Good for you, de Rossi! We’re positive the star will be just as good at arbitering as she was at acting.

Ah butts, the great equalizer. Everyone's got ‘em and the ability to feel immense tushy pleasure. Whether you’re a booty beginner or you’ve been around the booty block, we’ve got the toys to make your anal exploration a thrilling adventure.

Before we get started, let us not forget the two cardinal rules of anal toys. First, your toy must always have a base bigger than the rest of the toy. This is to protect you from getting toys stuck inside you as well as adding extra control for movement during play.

Second is the importance of lube. The anus does not create its own lubrication, so outside lube is key. For silicone toys, be sure to use water-based lube, such as, Sliquid H2O and KY Liquid, because silicone lube will bond with your silicone toys and make your pretty toys sticky and uncomfortable. However, if you’re using a metal or glass toy, definitely go with a silicone lube like Überlube — it will last forever and can be used in the shower! Now that you’re lubed up, strap in (pun intended) and let’s get anal.

For first-timers:

Bendy Beads from Good Vibrations:

Start your anal journey off with anal beads. They’re great for finding your perfect fit, and these beads are especially bendy for maximal leverage and control.

For anal enthusiasts:

It has a remote control for dominant/submissive play, and because it simulates a tongue and finger combo, it leaves your hands and mouth free for other activities (double oral anyone?).

Rimming Plug 2, $150 at B-vibe

Silicone Love Rider dual penetrator:

If there is a penis and a vagina in your play equation, this is a fun toy for dual penetration. Made to be harnessed around the base of the penis, this toy can be inserted in the anus or vagina. With a bit of finagling, this toy could also be attached to a strap-on for double penetration with no penis present.

Silicone Love Rider dual penetrator, $24.95 at Adam & Eve

Lelo Bruno:

Once you feel comfortable with anal play and insertion, this prostate-tingling toy is perfect for any penis owner. This vibrator has two motors for both prostate and external perineum stimulation. This toy is easy to use solo for masturbation, and its waterproof capabilities make it a great bath time buddy. Plus, its shape is designed to stay, so you can wear it around all day long.

Lelo Bruno, $169 at Babeland

Anal toys are an amazing way to change things up in the bedroom, explore your body fully and engage in pleasure that can’t get you pregnant. It's great for all bodies, but be sure to ease into this new level of play, embrace lube and use condoms on your toys if you plan to use them with more than one person. Have fun, be safe and get your great equalizer going.
