Amy Schumer May Have Changed Her Mind About Having Kids

Actor and comedian Amy Schumer shocked fans with her recent surprise wedding to Chris Fischer, a chef. Perhaps even more surprising? Schumer's rethinking her former stance on having kids — which is to say she wasn't planning on having any, ever. And to this possible change of heart, we say, Oh, hell yes! Seriously, can you imagine Schumer's motherhood tweets? She'd give Chrissy Teigen and Ryan Reynolds — both hilariously funny about parenting — a run for their money on Twitter. We are all for it.

Recently on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Schumer said, "Here's the thing. I have never wanted kids. Then I saw myself as a baby on your show, and I thought, 'Who am I to deprive the world of such a beautiful baby?' So I think we're going to do it, but just use my genetics."

Schumer was referring to an earlier appearance on DeGeneres' show in which Schumer dressed up as a baby. Just go with it.

Anyway, we think Schumer would be a terrific mom, and here's why:

She's already great with the worst age of kids (teenagers)

Recently, she hosted a screening of her new movie, I Feel Pretty, for a group of teens — and judging from her Instagram photos of the event, everyone had a blast.

Schumer wrote, "Had the greatest time watching @ifeelpretty with all perfectly perfect teenage girls. Thank you Sascha and Lola for hosting with me. I love every smart, kind, brave, adorable girl I met tonight. Thanks for the best night ladies  #sweatpantsrequired."

Schumer is all about family. On April 5, she posted an adorable throwback photo of herself and her younger sister, Kim Caramele, having ice cream with their mom, and we melted like that ice cream. Schumer often works with her sister, and their bond is crazy-tight. Check out Caramele's sweet reaction to seeing Amy in her wedding dress.

And then there's the time Schumer and her new hubby spent Passover/Easter with a dear little old lady that fans on Instagram have assumed is Schumer's grandmom. Look at that hand squeeze. Hell, even if it's not her grandma, the hand squeeze alone tells us Schumer's got her priorities in place. "Happy Easter and Passover or just happy Sunday from my fight club," Schumer captioned the super-sweet photo.

She practically grew up in a baby furniture store in Manhattan

For realsies. Schumer's parents owned a baby furniture shop on the Upper East Side of Manhattan called Lewis of London (so posh!). The store imported Italian baby cribs until the shop went under when Schumer was a preteen. But we have no doubt Schumer's remembered all her high-end crib experience.

Yes, we may be a little overeager for Schumer and Fischer to get breeding. But can you blame us? She's the voice of motherhood we'd really, really like to hear — because we already know she wouldn't sugarcoat a thing.

Jenna Bush Hager Reveals Plans for Barbara & George Sr.'s Love Letters

With 73 years of marriage in the books, Barbara Bush and George H.W. Bush knew how to keep their romance alive and thriving. Married in January 1945, the couple's marriage was truly one for the history books. Their time together included raising a huge family, watching George's political career take them all the way to the White House, partaking in various philanthropic efforts (including Barbara's national campaign to improve family literacy during her time as first lady) and, perhaps most wonderfully of all, lots of love letters that, according to a letter Jenna Bush Hager read live on Today this morning, will now be passed down in their family for generations to come “so they know what true devotion looks like.”

More: George H. W. Bush Is "Stoic & Strong" but Brokenhearted by Barbara's Death

CNN published one of those love letters on Wednesday, just one day after Barbara's death, reportedly due to health complications related to COPD and congestive heart failure. The love letter, written in 1943 by George to Barbara while he was serving in the Navy during World War II, is a precious look into the couple's then-budding romance. In the letter, written sometime after their engagement was announced, George seems thrilled their relationship was getting more and more official as time went on. Even the way George address his beloved — "My darling Bar" — is just too sweet.

The letter begins, "This should be a very easy letter to write — words should come easily and in short it should be simple for me to tell you how desperately happy I was to open the paper and see the announcement of our engagement, but somehow I can't possibly say all in a letter I should like to."

George, only 19 years old at the time, is very articulate about his feelings for Barbara. He continues in the letter, writing, "I love you, precious, with all my heart and to know that you love me means my life. How often I have thought about the immeasurable joy that will be ours someday. How lucky our children will be to have a mother like you."

George and Barbara likely kept up this adorable correspondence while he was serving, and it undoubtedly laid the solid foundation upon which their marriage was built. Barbara would comment later in life that she "married the first man she kissed" (that's George, of course, and they met when she was 16) but this letter only goes to show just how evergreen their romance truly was.

Barbara stayed in the habit of writing to those she loved — not just her husband. In fact, on Today this morning, the presidential couple's granddaughter, Jenna Bush Hager, shared with Today coanchors Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and their colleague Craig Melvin the last email Barbara wrote to her. Reading it aloud on air, one line hit particularly hard: "I am watching you. I love you. Ganny."

Bush Hager also confirmed to her Today colleagues the Bush family was staying strong in the wake of the loss of their family matriarch.

This Is the Most Sexually Satisfied State in America

Does the quality of your sex life depend on where you live? While the extent of your sexual satisfaction depends on a wide variety of factors, a new survey from Lovehoney (released ahead of Sexual Happiness Day on April 21) found that it can vary greatly depending on your state — and apparently, Louisiana is the place to be.

When asked to rate their sexual satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being not fulfilled at all and 10 being very, very fulfilled), respondents from Louisiana had a mean score of 9.1 — a decent bit higher than the state in the No. 2 spot (Kentucky, coming in at 7.8).

More: You Will Not Believe These Unusual Places Where People Admit to Having Sex

Maryland (7.6), Illinois (7.1), Wisconsin (7.0), Virginia (6.9), Georgia (6.7), Texas (6.7), Massachusetts (6.6) and Ohio (6.4) round out the top 10 states. Noticeably absent from this list: New York and California, home to much of the entertainment industry and associated with more liberal attitudes toward sex (although it may be a case of more sex not necessarily meaning it's better sex).

Does marriage lead to greater sexual satisfaction? Survey says: maybe. Around 63 percent of married Americans rated their sexual fulfillment between 5 and 9, compared with 53.6 percent of unmarried Americans.

As far as age goes, Americans between the ages of 41 and 45 reported the highest rates of sexual fulfillment, with nearly a quarter of respondents saying they'd rate their own sexual satisfaction a perfect 10. The next most-fulfilled age group is 51- to 55-year-olds (with 17 percent giving their sex lives a 10), followed by 46- to 50-year-olds (with 15.4 percent rating their bedroom satisfaction as a 10). And at the bottom of the list? That'd be millennials, with only 8.1 percent rating their sexual fulfillment as a 10.

So, does this mean we should all get married and move to Louisiana in our 40s? Probably not, but it's always interesting to see sex data like this to see who really comes out on top.

Charlize Theron's Experience Gaining Weight Sounds Like an Actual Nightmare

Charlize Theron is no stranger to completely sacrificing her body and appearance for a role. When the use of makeup and prosthetics transformed her into serial killer Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 film Monster, she won an Oscar. When she trained to become a lean, mean, (faux) killing machine for the 2017 hit thriller Atomic Blonde, she sustained tons of cuts, bruises and even lost a tooth. Theron throws herself into just about every role she tackles, which makes her transformation for her upcoming dramedy, Tully, just as jaw-dropping as her previous ones — and potentially even more nightmarish.

While speaking with Entertainment Tonight about the film, Theron opened up about gaining weight to do justice to her character, Marlo, a mom of three who is dealing with the exhausting balancing act of parenting a newborn and two elementary school-age kids. "I gained close to 50 pounds for this film," Theron explained. "I just I wanted to feel what this woman felt, and I think that was a way for me to get closer to her and get into that mindset."

That level of weight gain, even for a film role, had a serious emotional impact on Theron. "You know, it was a huge surprise to me. I got hit in the face pretty hard with depression. Yeah, for the first time in my life I was eating so much processed foods and I drank way too much sugar. I was not that fun to be around on this film."

Photos of Theron's weight gain emerged in 2016 while filming Tully. While the plot details were kept under wraps at the time, Theron's commitment to the role was evident even back then, when outlets like People magazine were reporting she'd only gained about 35 pounds.

Putting the weight on was a true test of Theron's mettle as well. She detailed the highs and lows: "The first three weeks are always fun because you're just like a kid in a candy store," she recalled. "So it was fun to go and have breakfast at In-N-Out and have two milkshakes. And then after three weeks, it's not fun anymore. Like, all of a sudden you're just done eating that amount and then it becomes a job. I remember having to set my alarm in the middle of the night in order to just maintain [the weight]."

You can see the effects of all those late-night binge sessions best in the official trailer for Tully. On top of the added pounds, you can also feel the stress of Theron's Marlo coming through the screen; this is a transformation on all levels.

Shedding the weight was yet another hurdle for Theron. Unlike other transformations, which could be easily removed with a little makeup remover or some stitches or even the benefits of a high metabolism because she was younger, the Tully weight wanted to stick around. But Theron is back to her healthy weight, promoting the heck out of yet another role that fans will surely appreciate her putting all this effort into.

10 Mother's Day Gifts That Will Always Make Your Mom Smile

$

Where would we be without our moms? I don't know about you, but I defer to the wisdom of my mother nearly every day. I call her about everything from my kids' health to my own financial planning.

We all want to make our moms (and other beloved mothers in our lives) feel special. This hope manifests every day, of course, but we're especially mindful each year when Mother's Day rolls around.

More: What Mother's Day Means to Me, According to Real Moms

It may seem impossible to pick the perfect gift for your mom. And, let's be real, no one wants to be the person who gives a present that winds up discreetly tucked away in a dark closet somewhere. You want to give the moms you love something they will love.

Fortunately, there are a few go-to gifts that are total wins for Mother's Day. Consider bestowing one or more of the following on the busy, wonderful moms in your life.

1. The gift of fashion

For many women, nothing beats a new outfit. A cozy sweater on a chilly day, a pair of lounge pants for relaxing at home, a comfy tunic that looks great for work or dinner on the town — whatever your mom's personal style, something new to wear is sure to put a smile on her face.

2. Something for the kitchen

Sharing food is sharing love. Lots of treasured family moments happen at the dinner table. If cooking is one of your mom's passions, gifting her with a new kitchen gadget is an ideal way to feed her soul. Some moms prefer brunch with cocktails or breakfast in bed on their special day. Regardless, you can't go wrong with the gift of good food.

3. A chance to put her feet up

After a busy day, an evening of relaxing on the couch with loved ones can be just the thing. This Mother's Day, why not invite Mom to take it easy for a while? Spruce up the living room with new throw pillows and blankets, order a pizza and settle in for a fabulous family movie night.

4. Spa treatments

Everyone needs to rejuvenate now and then. If your mom is due for some pampering, give her the luxury treatment at the spa or at home. After a bubble bath and a good dose of hair care, beauty treatments and aromatherapy, she'll be ready to take on the world again in no time.

5. A beautiful bauble

There's a reason jewelry is a tried-and-true gift for mothers — it's classic. If you really want to go the extra mile to show her how much she means to you, select a necklace and earrings in a color that matches her favorite outfit.

6. A family photo session

Flowers wilt away, but photos of her family will endure for years and years. It can be hard to wrangle the family for a snapshot on any given day. But who's going to say no if you arrange the shoot as a gift for Mom? Brownie points if you hire a "set stylist" to assist with hair and wardrobe.

7. A subscription you know she'll use

Subscription services offer practically anything you can think of these days: tea, magazines, gym memberships, cheese, movies, makeup and (my personal favorite) wine. The list goes on, so spend a few minutes selecting and setting up one that's geared entirely to her tastes.

8. Housekeeping

Keeping the house clean is a thankless task that never ends. Having someone swoop in and take care of it for you is priceless. This year, show Mom you love her by running the vacuum, doing the laundry and washing the dishes — or hire a service to come over and do the job.

9. Tickets

With the busyness of mothering, she might not get out of the house as much as she used to. Evenings are often spent sewing on buttons, packing lunches and tucking the little ones into bed. Give your mom tickets to her favorite new play, then hire a babysitter and send her out for a night on the town.

10. A gift card

Don't worry, this isn't a cop-out. It's really one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give. Gift cards never go out of style, and any size is the right size. When she's picking out a pair of shoes or a new book to spend her gift card bucks on, she'll be thankful you gave her the opportunity to decide for herself.

Whatever way you choose to make Mom feel special this year, remember this: There's no wrong way to tell her you love her. Happy Mother's Day, everyone.

How I Learned to Love My Body After Having a Mastectomy

As I traced the line of stitches that now extended from my right to left torso, I watched my finger trail over the bumpy scar that traversed my body in my bathroom mirror. Moving my gaze upward, I stared at my breasts, which no longer were a matching set.

My left breast was now comprised of fat that had been relocated from my stomach in what is called a TRAM-flap reconstruction, an option for women after undergoing a mastectomy. To treat my breast cancer, I had done both the mastectomy and reconstruction in one surgery and had been under anesthesia for seven hours. Seven. Hours.

My right breast was smaller than the last time I had seen it — my plastic surgeon had reduced it to closely match my left, and it now had a long scar underneath it and a small vertical one starting at my nipple and meeting the other stitches in the middle like an upside down T.

More: This Is How I Learned I Had Breast Cancer

While taking stock, I noticed something was missing: a nipple on my left breast. My nipple was gone, a result of the mastectomy. It was something I know my surgeon had told me was going to happen, but in all the commotion of learning I was undergoing this operation, it was a fact I had forgotten. My left breast looked foreign to me, almost like when someone shaves off their eyebrows and you can tell something is off but you just can’t quite put your finger on it.

This was my first glance at my own reflection since I had left the hospital after four long nights of morphine drips, nurse visits at all times of the day and my mother — my new roommate — quietly (sometimes not so quietly) snoring on a makeshift cot next to my hospital bed.

I stood naked in my bathroom and cried.

I cried because I did not know this new body; this was not the body I had been born with. Those were not the breasts Rob had touched in the ninth grade; the scar running across my body had not been with me in college, at graduation, at my best friend’s wedding. It was all new.

Over the next few months, my body and I got to know one another. I slowly became used to the scars but would still have moments of “whose body is this?” The stitches eventually dissolved, and the healing process was already underway when the chemotherapy had begun. I was fully healed by the time radiation had ended, almost one year after my initial surgery, and I was given the “all clear” to resume my normal life, which I took it to mean, “find a job and start dating again.” The realization that someone new would have to see my scars gave me a pit in my stomach that lasted for weeks.

This new body had been kept behind closed doors for so long that the idea that someone else would accept it haunted me and made me doubt my own body, and to this day, I chastise myself for having those thoughts.

I’d flip-flop between emotions while getting ready for second and third dates (OK, sometimes first ones too). From: “What if we go back to my apartment? What if I want to take my clothes off? What if I do and he can’t handle what’s under there? Will anyone ever? What if no one ever wants to see me naked again?” To: “Fuck those guys. They don’t know you. You never have to see them again. If they can’t deal then they aren’t worth it.”

I was mentally exhausted before I had even walked out of my door.

I would tread lightly when it came to intimacy. My bra would always stay on, and no one would even ask what was underneath, which was fine with me, as I was still not sure how to navigate these conversations. They don’t give you a manual on how to deal with intimacy and your new body at the oncologist’s office, and as many times as you discuss it with your therapist, they’re not going to be in the bedroom with you to walk you through it.

More: Please Stop Calling Me a Breast Cancer "Survivor"

It’s been seven years since my body was altered forever. Seven years since I stood in my bathroom and reintroduced myself to, well, myself. I still have insecurities about my body, but those days are fewer and further between. My boyfriend’s favorite part of my body are the small blue radiation tattoos that adorn my left side because he says, “They remind me of what a badass you are,” and he’s right. Scars are there to remind us of what we’ve been through, and hopefully, we've come out stronger and more badass on the other end.

Cooking With Cannabis Oil: 5 Things to Know Before You Try

With medical marijuana legalized in more and more states and with some even legalizing recreational marijuana, people have been finding new ways of appreciating the herb. For those who aren't fans of smoking or just want to try something a little different, cooking with cannabis is the way to go.

Before learning about ways to make marijuana your go-to herb in the kitchen, find out whether it's legal in the state you're in. Currently, medical marijuana is legal in 30 states and Washington, D.C., while eight states and the District of Columbia have legalized it for recreational use. Thirteen states, however, have decriminalization laws in effect, so make sure to know what the legalities are where you live first.

More: Let’s Talk About What Marijuana Can (Maybe) Do for Your Sex Drive

Once you've figured out whether it's kosher to cook with cannabis where you live, you need to decide how you'll use it. You can certainly use the actual herb ground up, but when it comes to cooking, many are finding that using cannabis oil is the easiest way to go.

While some people use cannabis for recreation, many use it for health reasons, which is why cannabis oil in particular is seeing a spike in popularity. People suffering from a range of health challenges — from PTSD to irritable bowel syndrome, arthritis, migraines, insomnia and more — have found benefits to using cannabis oil.

Deborah Schatan, director of product development at CBD Guild — a California-based company that specializes in cannabis oil and extracts — offers up some tips for those interested in adding a different sort of herb to their cooking.

1. Pick marijuana that is right for you & your needs

If you're uncomfortable with the high that marijuana can cause, take care to find a cannabis oil that is high in CBD and low in THC, like Care By Design's 18:1 cannabis oil extract. Some conditions and individuals respond better to high-CBD products, others respond better to high THC, so you may wish to experiment with gradually more THC.

You'll also want to look at how the cannabis oil you're buying was extracted. Some product makers use toxic solvents that can leave a residue, which is not healthy for anyone, but especially not for someone who's immunocompromised.

For more of a head high, any sativa strain or hybrid will work. For more of a body high or "stoned" feeling, use an indica strain hybrid.

More: Marijuana Wine Is Actually a Thing You Can Buy Now

2. Cannabis oil works well with sweet or savory recipes

Your recipe will need to contain either a fat or an oil-based ingredient that can be infused with the cannabis concentrate. Such fats include butter, ghee, lard, shortening and other vegetable or nut oils. If your recipe does not list a "fat" ingredient, you can dilute the cannabis concentrate in a small amount of your favorite spirits: vodka, rum, cognac, etc.

Note: Wine and beer are water-based and will not work well as a carrier for cannabis oil. Depending on the recipe, you might want to adjust the sweetening and flavoring/spice measurements to counter the inherent bitterness of the cannabis oil.

3. Keep an eye on the heat

As long as the infused oil or fat is not used directly on high heat, such as in a hot pan or skillet for frying, the potency should hold or only slightly diminish. Always heat your fat or oil to the temperature a hot beverage such as coffee or tea is served at — 160 degrees F (71.1 degrees C) to 185 degrees F (85 degrees C). Alcohol does not need to be preheated.

More: Does Marijuana Use Impact Your Fertility?

4. Choose wisely

Schatan also cautions to always choose a lab-tested concentrate so you can easily and safely measure your active ingredient to suit your individual dosage and the volume of the recipe.

5. Start small

And the biggest tip of all? Remember to start low and go slow until your individual dosage is known.

Lies My Yoga Teacher Told Me

$
0
0

Yogalandia is rife with hilariously bad platitudes. If you’ve done any time on the mat, you’ve at some point been told to surrender your toxins or melt your heart or make your inner body bright. And though I never asked my students to honor the goddesses that live in their inner thighs, even I cringe recalling some of the silly, nonscience-based claims I subjected people to in my youth.

But there were lines that even as a rookie yoga teacher I knew not to cross. For instance, I never told my students with mental health issues that they should stop taking antidepressants and meditate instead. Nor did I tell my students who had cancer to do a juice cleanse in lieu of chemotherapy. I would never have dreamed of informing my pregnant students who had C-sections or epidurals that they hadn’t had a “real birth.” I never told students who were grieving, sick or sad that their suffering was a result of their karma.

Believe it or not, teachers are actually out there making these ignorant claims. We don’t talk about it because critiques and callouts don’t mix well with mainstream yoga’s “love and light” ethos. But it disturbs me how many yoga instructors push anti-science health advice and ill-informed judgments on their students.

MoreThe Best Yoga Apps You Should Download Right Now

“It’s actually a serious problem in the yoga community that some teachers overestimate the ability of yoga to treat diseases and conditions,” Nina Zolo writes at Yoga for Healthy Aging.

When they first start teaching, yoga instructors are often in their “honeymoon phase” — a rose-colored-glasses period when they see yoga as the solution to all of life’s difficulties and the remedy for all illness. Yoga and “natural” wellness are good; Western medicine is bad. This kind of black-and-white thinking in the yoga world leads to a great deal of presumption, misinformation and outright denial of reality. Here are just a few of the lies yoga teachers have told me (and I assure you these tales are only the tip of the bad-advice iceberg):

  1. That I wouldn't need to go to therapy if I did yoga daily.
  2. That I didn’t need to take antibiotics for my urinary tract infection: “Just drink cranberry juice and it will go away!” (Note: Do not try this unless you’re OK risking an extremely expensive emergency room visit and a week off work to recover from your kidney infection.)
  3. That if I had my uterus removed, I would lose my identity as a woman and the "seat of my creativity."

You may be asking why on earth anyone would seek out health advice about a serious medical condition from a yoga teacher in the first place. They’re not doctors. They’re not therapists or nutritionists. But spend any time in Yogalandia, and you’ll learn three things:

1. We put yoga teachers on pedestals. For some of us, they are the people we went to after doctors shrugged off our health problems and told us there was nothing they could do to help. Never overestimate how much faith yoga students have in their teachers. And while there are some teachers who’ve spent decades studying anatomy, psychology and health, others haven’t a clue, which brings us to No. 2.

2. There are inexperienced, poorly trained yoga teachers everywhere. The yoga industrial complex and its glut of yoga-teacher training is partly to blame here. As yoga has spread to gyms, beaches, schools and senior centers, studios struggle to make money, and lucrative teacher training has become the financial foundation of most studios. But unleashing hundreds of green teachers on the world every few weeks isn’t elevating the quality of the teacher pool.

3. Because we live in America, many of us don’t actually have access to medical doctors, nutritionists or therapists. If you lack decent health insurance, your vinyasa teacher might be the only person willing to spend 15 minutes talking to you about the sciatica pain that makes sitting down agony, the endometriosis that’s forcing you to lose a week at work every month, the nausea from your chemotherapy or the anxiety you can’t seem to shake. If we’re going to call out yoga, we also need to call out Western medicine and the disgrace that is the American health care system, both of which fail millions on a daily basis.

Still, yoga teachers need to realize this deeply flawed world is the one we live and teach in. And we need to do better.

To a vulnerable and struggling student, a teacher’s offhand comments can be deeply traumatizing. For instance, Janelle* told SheKnows about a painful experience she had at a studio in New York City where she practiced regularly. “Someone in class who knew I was battling cancer asked me how I was doing (I was going through radiation after chemotherapy and surgery),” she explained. “Before I could answer, my teacher physically walked into the middle of our conversation and informed me that diseases of the immune system are related to a doshic imbalance and that eating a balanced doshic diet as well as the thoughts we tell ourselves can lead to disease.”

Janelle remembers the last sentence her teacher said to her clearly. “'You have to think about what you did wrong either earlier in your life or in past lives that has made you sick.’ Basically, [she was saying that] it was my karma to get cancer.” Janelle never went back to the studio again.

More: How to Navigate Yoga While You Have Your Period

Similarly, yoga teacher Sheela Cheong overheard another instructor telling a student that yoga would cure her mother's cancer. Cheong intervened when the instructor advised the student against doctors and hospitals.

“At that moment, I had to interrupt and tell the student directly: No, that is not true,” she told SheKnows. The instructor defended her position, but Cheong objected again. “That doesn't make it either scientifically or medically correct information. Speaking directly to the teacher, I said, ‘It's not right to be giving students medical advice. We are not trained doctors.’ ”

Sadly, stories like these abound. In both of these instances, the teachers’ recommendations about cancer were unsolicited (as well as cruel and wrong). But as any yoga instructor will tell you, students ask them on a daily basis what to do about their particular maladies and injuries.

One hundred million Americans suffer from chronic pain, and many of them turn to yoga to try to fix it. And of course, yoga can relieve pain and help with chronic health problems — even doctors know that. But as instructor Andrea Leber described in a blog post titled “When Being A Yoga Teacher Isn’t Enough,” students often approach teachers with very general questions.

  • “I have this lower-back pain. What do you think it is?”
  • “My knee is painful. What should I do?"
  • “Can I do yoga after surgery?”

Leber pointed out that most yoga teachers are coming from a good place and want to help their students — but they don’t have the training to diagnosis illness.

“It’s frustrating to tell people that unfortunately I cannot solve their issue…. But it’s also dishonest to pretend that I can,” she wrote. “In many cases, ‘doing the right thing’ means sending them to someone who has a medical degree.”

Students would be far better served if yoga teacher trainings emphasized the boundaries of our scope of practice. “Scope of practice” is a term that describes what a health care practitioner is allowed to do in keeping with the terms of their professional license. Medical professionals and massage therapists are highly aware of what their scope of practice does and does not include and know how important it is both legally and ethically to stay in their lane.

Scope of practice (or as teacher B. Grace Bullock calls it, “scope of service”) is a concept every yoga-teacher training should prioritize and every teacher should consider daily and should be clearly defined.

“Most yoga teachers do not have the skills or training to properly evaluate and diagnose physical or psychological complaints, or to recommend a course of treatment,” Bullock wrote at Yoga U. “Teachers can provide support and encouragement for those facing challenges, and share yogic teachings and philosophy that will aid students in their journey. This service is invaluable. The scope of service that yoga teachers provide is like no other, and it is important to stay within it.”

Scope of service in the yoga studio means healthy boundaries. It means you can offer breathing exercises, calming yoga postures and empathy to a depressed student, while at the same time encouraging them to seek therapy or medical attention. It means you can give students support and tools as they navigate pain and illness, which looks very different from trying to fix or cure them. It means asking students if their doctor has approved them doing inversions or given them the OK to return to class after giving birth. It means listening and staying aware that your opinion is just that: an opinion, not a diagnosis.

On so many levels, I owe my life and my health to yoga, and I can’t imagine my life without the wisdom and support of my teachers. Because of that, I’m asking the community to do better by asking more from teachers and those who train them.

I want yoga folks to let go of their knee-jerk hostility toward Western medicine and their dogmatic obsession with “natural” health (whatever that is). I want teachers to study both the yoga sutras and science. I want them to ask themselves before telling their classes that twists are detoxifying or backbends cure depression, “How do I know this? Is there any evidence to back up this claim?”

Students take our words seriously, and teachers need to do the same. I want all of us to engage in rigorous self-honesty and make sure we’re responding to students who are hurting from a place of service, not ego. I want us all to realize there is no shame in telling our students, “I don’t know.”

They've been together for 11 years and married nearly six, but the bloom is definitely not off the rose of Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel's relationship — and we shouldn't expect to see it go anywhere anytime soon. When SheKnows spoke with Biel over the phone about all things Mother's Day-related — from the best gift she's received to the lessons she's learned as a mom — as well as her new partnership with American Express, she revealed the one sweet thing Timberlake does for her on every special occasion.

When asked about a particularly memorable Mother's Day gift she's either gotten or received, Biel's answer was a twofold surprise. "I always like an experience," she shared initially. "Instead of an actual gift [...] going to lunch with my family or having a special day with my mom."

The second part of this answer involved Timberlake. "My husband always, always sends me flowers, which I always adore and it's something I look forward to," Biel told us. "It's the simple things, I think. I'd much rather spend a day hanging in the park or playing in the pool than getting some kind of big thing."

Buying flowers for his wife is just one of the many ways Timberlake shows his affection and comes through as a life partner for Biel. The couple regularly shares their affection for one another with fans on their Instagram accounts. As recently as April 7, Timberlake shared his love for Biel with a photo of her hugging him from behind just before he went out to perform. "She's always got my back," he captioned the very cute Instagram snap.

Biel doesn't skimp on flaunting the affection right back. For Timberlake's 37th birthday on Jan. 31, Biel posted a photo of the couple embracing along with a heartfelt message. "I'm so proud of all you've accomplished and all that is ahead for you," she wrote at the time. "[P]lus you're a super hot dad. A ninja dad. A kiddie teeth brushing, Jedi sleep mind tricking, intimidating dad voice disciplining SUPER HOT DAD. I love you, you hot dad... I'm here, right by your side, OG fan girl #1."

Celebrating all of the little moments that make life special is important to Biel, who told us that's why she wanted to partner with American Express for the Live Life Moments campaign. "I just love this campaign. I love this idea of really taking time out of our lives to make life moments a spontaneous experience where you're really in the moment," she explains, continuing, "It's my life, you know? It's something that I'm trying to do on a daily basis. I fail at it all the time. But I think it's such an important, amazing platform to say, 'You know what? Everyone has their busy lives and we're doing a million things at once, and that's important. But we're important. We're important too.'"

Biel finished with some great life advice we can all carry with us: "We have to take time so we can rejuvenate our minds, rejuvenate ourselves and get ready to go back to work." We couldn't have said it any better.

Krispy Kreme's New Lemon-Glazed Doughnut Has Finally Arrived

Remember back in January when Krispy Kreme held its first-ever crowdsourced contest asking us all to vote for one of four new doughnut glazes using the hashtag #VoteForGlaze? The options were blueberry, caramel, maple or lemon; and the contest was a huge success, attracting nearly 2 million votes. The winner? The lemon-glazed doughnut — and after months of waiting, we'll finally get to taste it.

For only one week this month — from Monday, April 23 through Sunday, April 29 — the new doughnut will debut at participating Krispy Kreme locations across the U.S. and Canada.

Lemon Glaze Doughnuts Krispy Kreme

"The bar doesn't get any higher than our Original Glazed Doughnut!" said Jackie Woodward, chief marketing officer of Krispy Kreme, in a press release. "Experimenting with the many flavor profiles lemon presents to create an all-new lemon glaze was a fun, but serious culinary challenge. There has been so much anticipation and zest for the new Lemon Glaze Doughnut, we can't wait to share the joy with our fans!"

You might be wondering — like we were — why we had to wait so long for the new glaze to debut, but there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for it. According to Krispy Kreme's release, their culinary team spent months perfecting the new glaze, "which balances the freshness of real lemon, the brightness of citrus and the sweetness of Krispy Kreme's iconic Original Glazed Doughnut."

Here, take a napkin to mop up your drool.

This isn't the first time Krispy Kreme has experimented with bold new flavors. Back in August 2017, Krispy Kreme teamed up with Reese's for the Reese's peanut butter-filled doughnut: a fluffy, raised doughnut stuffed with light Reese's peanut butter cream and topped with a chocolate glaze and a sprinkle of Reese's Mini peanut butter chips and peanuts.

A little further back in April 2017, Krispy Kreme partnered up with Ghirardelli to launch two new doughnut flavors: mint chocolate and sea salt-caramel.

With such decadent doughnuts as of late, these zesty new lemon-glazed doughnuts should help balance out their already sweet menu — and we can't wait to get our hands on one next week.

I'm a Working Mom, & I Use Marijuana Daily

Like so many moms, I have way too much on my plate. At this particular moment, my 3-year-old is intent on occupying my lap, is raining crumbs of banana bread onto my keyboard, is threatening a Category 5 meltdown if I don’t switch over to the TV show of her choosing and is generally demanding my full attention as I try to work. It’s overwhelming. But unlike many moms, I have a (not-so) secret solution: I consume cannabis daily. And I don't just mean in the evenings when my kid is asleep; sometimes I use marijuana first thing in the morning — you know, when I wake up super-early to hit the gym. (What? Did you think stoners were lazy?)

I'm far from the lazy, checked-out stoner stereotype. In fact, I'm engaged and ambitious — in addition to being anxious. On top of being a mother, I run a company (full disclosure: a cannabis company) with my husband, which is great for our marriage (can you hear my sarcasm?). I left my support network of longtime friends back in New York in order to pursue this life on the West Coast — and in part to be there for my father-in-law, whom I watched slowly deteriorate and then die from ALS. Now, I cochair a nonprofit in his honor. And of course, my own parents are getting older now, and the 2,000-mile distance between us weighs on me.

It’s a lot to juggle, and it’s a lot to be anxious about. But daily cannabis use helps me — more than anything else does — to stay the course, focus on the task at hand, and minimize stress.

More:  Is Smoking Weed in Front of Your Kids Ever OK?

Marijuana helps me pivot away from the “bad thoughts” in my head; in fact, it stops them in their tracks. With motherhood comes a new baseline level of anxiety. This includes the low-level stress of getting enough sleep at night or getting out the door in time to make preschool drop-off — all the way up to the deeper, darker, unflinching anticipation of the death of everyone I know.

Then there is the endless cycle of obsession and worry about our business. We wake up thinking about work, we go to sleep thinking about work. It makes falling asleep a chore of its own that brings on additional anxiety to cap off each day. In the past, I tried prescription medication (both Zoloft and Xanax), I tried exercise (I ran a half-marathon six months postpartum) and I committed to a year of therapy, and while each approach had its merits, none provided instant, on-the-spot relief. So now, during the day, I use sublingual cannabis (as needed, not all the time) that is very low in THC; 2.5 milligrams does the trick for me personally, but it’s best to start low and build up.

It sounds silly, but cannabis helps me get on my kid’s level. Pokémon, trolls, Legos, play dough... I find myself more engaged and less concerned with the cleanup when I’ve consumed cannabis — and I don’t mind hearing my daughter sing the same two lines from that Frozen song 100 times in a row. (It’s actually entertaining.)

More: How to Talk to Your Kids About Drugs & Alcohol

Another surprising revelation is how cannabis has helped me engage with my body in physical fitness. Like many of us, I drag my feet to the gym, but I know exercise is great for maintaining my mental health. I find that on days when I’m dragging, if I spray sublingual cannabis just as I’m walking into the YMCA, my 4-mile run feels much more focused. I enjoy every breath and step, and I marvel at the harmony of my physical body working as a sum of its parts. It feels great.

What else? My husband and I live and work together, and sometimes it’s a challenge to have normal husband-wife hangs when all we do is talk about our work and parenting. So, when things get tense or too routine, marijuana has helped breathe life into our relationship at times, whether it’s helping us laugh, joke or share deep thoughts. I don’t think we’ve ever had a fight on cannabis, but we definitely have while drinking. In fact, I find marijuana to act very much the opposite of alcohol; at best, cannabis can work as an aphrodisiac or at the very least, it can bring you back to the friend zone from a fight. It's also a lot easier to wake up with our kid the next morning without an alcohol-induced hangover.

I, like many parents, used to "reward" myself with a glass of wine or whiskey at the end of the day. I mean, many parents don’t go out as much as we used to pre-kid, so we have to make our own fun at home, right? It used to be that when our kid was down for the night, my husband would have a cocktail ready for this minor victory. Thanks to this habit, our waistlines expanded and our sleep felt disrupted. I’ve never slept well on nights when I was drinking, and we would wake up dehydrated and foggy.

Drinking, to me, also feels addictive — like, once I have one, I want another and then another. With cannabis, I feel like I have control over my use. I could take it or leave it (and some nights I do just leave it). And most nights, when I do consume cannabis, I don’t need much. Just a little end-of-the-day reward to relax. Since slowing down on drinking, my husband and I have lost 30 pounds between us. We’re also much more alert and present when we wake up and feel ready to attack the day’s crazy schedule.

More: Pregnant Women Are Using More Marijuana — Is That a Bad Thing?

So, today, in the spirit of 4/20, I’m being open about my cannabis use. I’m finding each year, this admission is being more accepted and commonplace within my circle of friends, family and colleagues. It’s really helped me become a calmer, more engaged parent, a more accepting and forgiving wife and a more productive and focused CEO. It sounds like the weirdest ad to say I'm living my best life because of marijuana — but it's true.

Drew Scott Knows the Real Reason Behind Jonathan Scott's Breakup

It's been a few weeks since Property Brothers star Jonathan Scott split up with his girlfriend of three years, Jacinta Kuznetsov. Now, it looks like we're finally getting the scoop on why these two called it quits. Interestingly, the information is coming from Jonathan's twin brother, Drew Scott.

While speaking with Us Weekly, Drew opened up about how he's supporting Jonathan during this tough time and why the split happened. "Our family is really close and we’re all here to support each other," Drew explained. "I mean, the main thing for him and Jacinta, they knew that they weren’t right together. They’re good people, but they’re not right together."

Drew's comment adds a bit more insight into the couple's dynamic in the wake of Jonathan's announcement of the split. On April 6, Jonathan wrote on his Instagram, "There’s no drama or negativity; no jealousy or hate. Not even sadness or sorrow. Our memories are filled with joy and we will continue to advocate for each other as friends wherever we go."

Jonathan has remained pretty quiet about the split since then. To Jonathan's and Kuznetsov's credit, if there was ever discord in their relationship, they never made it known to the public, and keeping a low profile right now will help curb any rumors of drama.

Luckily, neither Jonathan nor Drew has time to dwell on this split because their lives are about to get very busy in some very fun ways. Drew is currently in the midst of planning for his sure-to-be-stunning Italian wedding to his longtime sweetheart, Linda Phan. Meanwhile, he and Jonathan (who will no doubt have a major role in Drew's wedding) get to throw themselves into their various television projects, which show no sign of letting up now that their new multiyear deal with HGTV has been announced. Onward and upward!

Kerry Washington's Scandal Farewell Will Make Even the Toughest Gladiator Cry

Time to take off your white hats, Gladiators, and raise a wine glass to Scandal, which aired its last-ever episode on Thursday night. After seven seasons, the beloved Shondaland show's series finale wrapped up all its storylines, gave a majority of the remaining characters happy endings and let the credits roll for the final time. It's the end of an era, and to mark the occasion the show's leading lady, Kerry Washington, penned an emotional farewell on her Instagram.

More: The Cast of Scandal Documented the Emotional Series Finale

"This picture was taken when we completed filming our very final scene in the Oval Office set," Washington began, writing what was a long caption on a very happy photo that depicts her smiling, arms and legs spread out like a starfish, on the set of Scandal. If you're a die-hard fan of the show, there's no doubt you already have tears welling up just from looking at the photo.

She continues, remembering the good times, as she writes: "So many of @scandalabc’s most iconic scenes happened in that Oval. It has been, in many ways, the center of our #Scandal universe. Other sets were already being dismantled and we knew this one would be next. So, before saying good-bye, I stretched out on that gorgeous rug and tried to just take it all in. Swipe! Soon after, a few beloved crew members joined. Because... why not? LOL."

The joy of Washington's caption transforms into sentimentality as she wraps up her farewell. "Tomorrow morning I will wake up and begin to try to process the magical dream of the past seven seasons," she writes. "I imagine it will take some time to really understand what just transpired in my life. But, this much, I know...I am filled with endless gratitude for our #Scandal Family. Our glorious cast & crew and our community of #Gladiators. TOGETHER, we have changed history. Transformed television. And illuminated each other’s lives."

Saying goodbye is going to be tough, not only for her and her castmates, but for fans of the show. What will we fill our time with now? With its consistently high ratings and wildly dramatic plot twists, Scandal was the unmissable show on TV for a long time. Sure, we have other Shondaland shows to ease the pain, but the prospect of not seeing Olivia, Fitz, Mellie or any of the beloved Scandal crew is pretty gut-wrenching.

Luckily, that photo of Washington looking blissed-out on the Oval office carpet wasn't the only photo she posted to commemorate Scandal's finale. Earlier on Thursday, she also posted photos of herself and her costars. In one photo, we see her with Bellamy Young, Darby Stanchfield and Katie Lowes, all looking rather glam. "I love my #Scandal Sisters. #Scandal family is real."

In yet another couple of photos, Washington cozies up to Tony Goldwyn (better known as Fitz to the Scandal fandom). There was no caption posted, but the love and warmth coming through the photos was enough to make it feel like these two are personally saying goodbye to each and every fan. You guys!

More: Kerry Washington's New TV Show Will Be Nothing Like Scandal

According to Variety, the series finale of Scandal drew in a record 5.4 million viewers — not a shabby turnout for a show that was bidding us all adieu. While the Scandal cast will be heading out on their own separate journeys in the wake of a strong finish, we know Washington will remain in the TV realm with her future projects. According to her IMDb page, she will be starring alongside Reese Witherspoon in the adaptation of the novel Little Fires Everywhere, a drama set in the suburbs in the 1990s. Obviously, we are going to be eagerly awaiting the series premiere, because we'll never get enough of watching Washington on TV.

Libby Vincek Was Heartbroken Over Her Survivor Elimination

Libby Vincek is one of those castaways we barely got to know. Despite being mostly invisible throughout Survivor: Ghost Island's episodes, she was actually considered a significant threat by multiple people. We asked Libby how she felt about the edit leaving her story on the cutting room floor and what she did in the game to be perceived by others as such a threatening player. Plus, she revealed why some of the women were targeting her.

SheKnows: Did you have any idea you were going to be eliminated? Explain what was going through your mind when Michael played his Idol.

Libby Vincek: I knew for sure I was in danger. Camp life that day was insanity with talks of Idols, fake Idols, alliances, and just every kind of strategy was being brought up, confusing the heck out of everyone. The only thing I knew for sure was the Naviti girls didn't like me and wanted me out. There was nothing I could really do about that. I knew that if I had voted Michael, there was a slight chance of saving myself with the others who were splitting the vote. Michael had a great plan; we just didn't have enough time to gather the numbers to execute. So when Michael pulled out that Idol, my heart dropped to the bottom of the ocean. I knew I was a goner.

Libby Vincek voted off Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: Multiple castaways voted out earlier this season have said you were a major threat in the game. Why do you think people were so threatened by you, and how did you try to curb those opinions?

LV: Well, that's pretty awesome. I was genuine with the bonds I made efforts to form and stayed strong with where I stood. I wanted to be proud of the person I watched later on, and I think within all of that, people found me threatening. I tried to show that I would value their opinions and gameplay. Taking the reins in things would've put me in even more trouble. I would try and find ways to get the target off my back but let others feel it was their idea.

Libby Vincek on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: Explain your feelings about the edit, because we didn't get to see too much of your story until your elimination episode. Tell us some things about your game that didn't make it on the show.

LV: I think it's really difficult to get a true grasp of the complexities of the relationships in a one-hour episode. Obviously, there were relations that I believed were stronger than they turned out to be. I worked hard to keep the bonds between some people in my tribe, which apparently weren't as strong as I thought. If I could say one thing I wish was more evident, it would be how passionate I was to play the game and how hard I worked to earn the position I ended up in. Many are wondering about Michael and I, and yes we were tight, but honestly didn't spend more than a minute by ourselves. If anything, I wish we would've worked more together in an obvious way. With the same reactions from them, we could've made a few more moves together.

Michael Yerger and Libby Vincek compete on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: What was your end-game strategy to win, and who did you want to take to the final Tribal Council?

LV: My end-game strategy was to go to the end with someone I trusted and someone I saw as a threat, but necessarily didn't play a good game. If I could pick one person to go to the end with, it would be Jenna because she's an awesome player and could totally trust her working to the end with me. If I won over her, it would be a true testament that I really played well.

SK: How did you get on the show?

LV: I was actually found through a mutual friend who played Amazing Race. I was in a rough spot in my life and truly didn't know where my next step was going to be. Out of the blue, I get a message asking if I'd be interested, and well, here we are today. I had to, of course, prove myself to Jeff [Probst] and the other producers that I could handle it. I think I can say I proved it to them.

11 Royal Traditions Meghan Markle's Broken Already

$

If there's one thing we know about Meghan Markle from obsessing over watching her relationship with Prince Harry unfold, it's that she isn't exactly conventional — at least not where royal customs are concerned. Leading up to and throughout her engagement, Markle has quietly (and gracefully, it would seem) broken tradition in a way no other royal fiancée ever has. And let's be real: It's one of the reasons we all love her so much, right?

More: Everything We Know About Meghan Markle & Prince Harry's Wedding So Far

Rule breaker though she may be, Markle has already managed to endear herself to the public. However, what's even more impressive is that she's obviously managed to infiltrate the royal family's super-tight inner circle despite her nontraditional approach to becoming an official royal family member.

When you consider just how many royal rules — both spoken and unspoken — Markle has defied, her warm reception seems even more impressive. Here's how she's stepped out of line with royal tradition (so far).

More: Royal Rules Meghan Markle Will Have to Abide By After Marrying Prince Harry

1. She spilled the beans about their private life

In Vanity Fair's October 2017 issue, Markle appeared on the cover. That in and of itself courted the kind of celebrity attention royals aren't particularly fond of, but Markle also gushed about her relationship with Prince Harry — before they were even engaged. To the rest of us, this seems sweet, but in the royal family, it can register as taboo.

2. She's not shy about showing her affection

Just as Markle couldn't resist gushing about her royal beau in print, she doesn't try to hide her public displays of affection either. She and Prince Harry are often photographed holding hands and have also been snapped cozying up to each other. But royal etiquette guru Myka Meier told People royals shouldn’t engage in PDA because they are “working representatives of the British Monarchy.”

3. She sometimes goes sans tights

If you ask us, tights are passé these days. However, it's considered improper in the royal family not to wear them under your dress at public events. Accordingly, Markle created quite the stir when she stepped out to officially announce her engagement — sans tights.

4. She’s a divorcée

Granted, this isn't unheard of in the royal family, but it is highly unusual. Markle married producer Trevor Engelson in 2011 after dating for six years. The couple quietly split in 2013. Of course, it's worth noting that Engelson is currently in talks with Fox about an untitled comedy pilot centered on a husband who must share custody of his kids with the British royal family when his ex-wife gets remarried... to a prince. (*Insert eye roll here*)

5. Cross-body bags — not clutches — are her thing

Royal etiquette expert William Hanson told the Daily Mail royal women carry clutches to deter people from trying to shake their hands. The unspoken rule here is that people should only try to shake if and when the royal first extends their own hand. Markle doesn't seem to mind, though. She routinely chooses totes, satchels and what seem to be her favorite, cross-body bags, over the classic clutch.

6. She plans to make a speech at her own wedding

ICYMI, Markle isn't the kind of woman who will be silenced. As opposed to falling in line with the customary reception speeches made by the bride's father, the groom and the best man, Markle intends to deliver her own. In it, the future royal reportedly plans to thank the queen and pay "affectionate tribute" to her prince.

7. Diamonds really are this girl's best friend

The beautiful blue sapphire ring that belonged to Princess Diana (and now to the Duchess of Cambridge) stands out as a shining example of royal engagement ring bling in that most royals opt for designs that incorporate gemstones. The queen, Princess Anne, Sarah Ferguson (aka the Duchess of York) and Princess Margaret all have gemstone engagement rings. Markle, however, sports an all-diamond design.

8. She sometimes signs autographs

With the exception of Prince Charles, who gave his autograph to victims of a Cornwall flood in 2010, the royal family had adhered to a firm no-autographs rule. However, Markle skirted this convention in Cardiff by writing a sweet and simple note to a 10-year-old girl named Caitlin Clarke.

9. She takes political stances

While the royal family isn't known for getting involved in sociopolitical controversies, Markle stands by her beliefs. And in the throes of #MeToo and #TimesUp, that has meant voicing her support for these important movements.

10. She's an actor

Because the royals are notoriously reserved, a person who's a celebrity in their own right in the family is something of a coup. In fact, it's widely assumed Markle left her role on Suits in order to pursue her relationship with Prince Harry.

11. She attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

In an unprecedented move, Markle attended the prestigious Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting with Prince Harry — something that hasn't been done by the betrothed of any prior royal.

Take notes: Joanna Gaines knows how to ring in a milestone birthday in the most perfect way possible. Not only is our favorite HGTV superstar riding high off a strong finish to her hit series Fixer Upper, but she's also in the exciting preparation stage ahead of the arrival of her fifth child. Truly, all things are coming up Gaines right about now.

On Thursday, Gaines rang in her 40th birthday by sharing on her Instagram an adorable photo of how she celebrated her special day. "This is 40. And I like it..." she wrote, using the very apt hashtags #pregnantandforty and #anddoughnuts to finish off the caption. The photo itself depicts a gleeful Gaines biting into a doughnut as she rests a cup on her pregnant belly. We're pretty sure that if you look up "bliss" in the dictionary, you'll find this photo next to the definition.

Gaines wasn't the only one posting about her very happy 40th birthday on social media. Hubby Chip Gaines chimed in as well. In lieu of eating a doughnut with his wife in a photo (although we have a feeling he had one with her off camera), Chip posted an equally short but very sweet message on his Twitter. "Happy birthday sweet girl!" he wrote, using the hashtag #40neverLookedSoGood to sum up his feelings.

"I'm a complete @twitter nerd. I'll admit that!" he tweeted, asking his followers to help his wife meet that special goal: "& this is sooo superficial & DUMB, but.. Rachel Weisz & Daniel Craig Are Expecting Their First Child

Rachel Weisz and Daniel Craig have some news: They're expecting a Bond baby! Weisz made the reveal in The New York Times on Friday.

"I'll be showing soon," she told the Times. "Daniel and I are so happy. We're going to have a little human. We can't wait to meet him or her. It's all such a mystery."

Weisz' latest movie, Disobedience, in which she costars with another equally sexy (and also recently pregnant) Rachel, Ms. McAdams, premieres this week at the Tribeca Film festival. And as for Weisz's partner in parenting, what's more badass than an international spy who jumps between moving train cars? A spy who takes time between missions to read bedtime stories, of course.

Let's hope Craig keeps his beloved Bond character's can-do attitude — "I don't stop when I'm tired; I stop when I'm done" — in mind when he's up at all hours of the night.

More: Rachel Weisz & Daniel Craig Honored for Charity Work

While it's the couple's first child together, the Times notes that neither of them is new to the parenting world. Weisz has an 11-year-old son with Darren Aronofsky, and Craig has a 25-year-old daughter with Fiona Loudon.

Unfortunately, the exciting news has been a bit overshadowed by the internet's fixation with Weisz's age; she's 48. Take a glance at Twitter, and swarms of "concerned" commenters have felt compelled to tweet that getting pregnant in your 40s is "dangerous" and "stupid."

While sure, it's not quite as common for women in their 40s to give birth as women in their 20s or 30s, the CDC reports that the number of women aged 45 to 49 who gave birth in 2016 slightly increased over the previous year. The year-over-year rate rose even more for women aged 40 to 44 (4 percent).

More: Daniel Craig Has Officially Announced His Return as James Bond

This data isn't all that surprising. Many women have chosen to postpone their pregnancy plans for financial and work reasons, among others. Plus, enhanced science and technology (IVF, egg and embryo freezing, etc.) have decreased the pressure for some to get pregnant in their younger-adult years.

Plus, around here, we generally think it's best to trust women to make the best decisions for their own bodies and their own futures. You know, just a general rule of thumb. Plus, that gives us more time to speculate about the fun stuff like names and make baby Bond memes.

Your Definitive Guide to Lube

Like it or not, it's time to talk about lube. Though many put it in the category of something you only need when there's a problem, lube is actually a really helpful, fun addition to all types of sex — regardless of your age or whether you have a partner.

“There’s a lot of controversy surrounding lube and women,” Jenny Block, author of The Ultimate Guide to Solo Sex, tells SheKnows. “Like it’s either for old ladies or bad girls.”

Some people with vaginas ooze lubrication, and that’s great — but that's not the case for everyone. “Lacking personal lubrication during sex can not only cause discomfort for both partners, but can also be a major source of self-consciousness for women,” Alice Wood, a sex and relationships coach, tells SheKnows. “Using lube is the easy answer to this issue, plus it adds an extra bit of sensation for both partners and may help prolong intercourse.”

If your vagina and vulva area doesn’t get wet naturally, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with you. Also, if you haven’t found a lube that feels good, you haven’t found the right one — yet. Hit up your local sex store, see how different products feel and buy a few samples. Several lube companies sell sample packs online as well, so you can try a variety of types before committing to a large quantity.

The first thing you need to decide is whether you want a water-based or silicone-based lubricant.

“Water-based lube is lighter, generally suitable for sensitive skin, easily cleanable with water and compatible with silicone sex toys,” Wood explains. “If you are looking for some particular brands, pay attention to Sliquid’s and LELO’s products — they are hypoallergenic, unscented and comparatively longer-lasting.”

Wood notes that silicone-based lube is considerably thicker and better suited for shower sex or anal play.

Here’s the right kind of lube for a variety of sexy situations:

Sugar & your natural pH levels don’t play well

Dr. Pari Ghodsi, an OB-GYN, recommends that people steer clear of flavored lubricants for intercourse since the sugar in these products tends to throw off the pH balance of your vagina, which can lead to yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis.

Silicone lube makes silicone sex toys deteriorate

When you are playing with a toy made from silicone, avoid using lubes that contain silicone. “Silicone plus silicone-based lube always equals a farewell party for your favorite sex toy since it gets covered in a sticky residue you cannot clean off,” says Wood. Also, silicone tends to compromise the integrity of softer sex toys made from silicone. When in doubt, water-based lube is always a safe bet.

Silicone is perfect for water play

Silicone lube isn’t water soluble, which means it has staying power for sex play in the bath or shower. “Be careful not to get it on the floor though, because it’s super slippery!” Lanae St.John, a board-certified sexologist, tells SheKnows. Safety first!

Don’t desensitize for activities like anal sex

St.John advises against using lubes that are desensitizing for activities like anal sex. “Using a desensitizing lube to reduce pain during anal won’t allow you to be aware if any tearing is happening,” she says. “That puts a person at risk of long-term damage, getting an infection transmitted to them, etc.”

Silicone lube is best for butt fun

Unlike the vagina, the anus is not self-lubricating. A lot of people have anal sex horror stories because they weren’t properly slicked up before a partner tried to insert a toy, finger(s) or penis. When it comes to anal sex, you can never have too much lube. Silicone works best IMO, but again, opt for a water-based product if you’re using a silicone toy.

Beware of lubes with nonoxynol-9

It's also important to pay attention to the ingredients list of your lube. “Lubes with the spermicide nonoxynol-9 can cause tiny micro-tears in sensitive tissues,” says St.John, “which also puts a person at risk for getting infections.” There are a lot of good options out there, so no need to go for this one.

Step away from the petroleum jelly

Do not use Vaseline or baby oil for lube if you’re using condoms, gloves or dentals dams. Ditto for olive oil, coconut oil and Crisco. Although some of these products are perfectly safe to ingest, they’ll deteriorate barrier methods. That said, I’m a big fan of using almond oil and coconut oil for manual play (on myself and others) if toys and barrier methods aren’t involved.

Solo sex

My personal go-to for solo sex is Überlube. This silicone godsend is the slickest lube I’ve encountered and has incomparable staying power, so you can take your sweet ole time without having to reapply. And if you do, it comes in a glass pump bottle that’s a sexy, always-within-arm’s-reach addition to any nightstand.

So there you have it — there's no reason not to invest in some lube. It'll only make things better (and wetter).

Behati Prinsloo Criticized for Daring to Pump & Dump at Coachella

Another day, another celebrity hounded by unsolicited parenting advice from swarms of social media commenters — and this time, they're coming for Behati Prinsloo. Like thousands of others, the supermodel and mother of two drove to the California desert last weekend to let her hair down and get her dance on at the Coachella music festival. But unlike some other concertgoers, Prinsloo dared to post a picture of herself pumping breast milk with the caption, #pumpanddump.

"Don’t dump!!!!! Save it for a milk bath," one person practically shouted from behind a keyboard. Others wrote that pumping and dumping is an antiquated practice and that Prinsloo should know that. Doesn't she follow all of the mothering trends?! But wait; it gets better. One person even seemed offended that Prinsloo wasn't rushing off to the nearest FedEx to ship off her milk.

"Why don't you donate instead of dumping it," the person wrote sans question mark.

Of course, there were some breastfeeding-shamers too.

"How to turn a beautiful thing into something disgusting by ugly @behatiprinsloo," one person wrote. "You're so dirty poor untalented girl who needs attention." Um, what? Really?

OK, so here's the thing. Alcohol does enter breast milk just as it would enter the bloodstream. However, the American Association of Pediatrics has conducted research that concludes moderate drinking (i.e., a glass of wine) shouldn't harm a nursing baby. For mothers who don't want to "pump and dump" but are still worried about lingering alcohol content, Dr. Thomas Hale, a La Leche League International Health Advisory Council member, told SheKnows that the best plan is to "pump and store" milk before drinking. "Alternatively, a mother can wait for the alcohol to clear from her system," Hale added.

And ultimately, it's up to the mother, not the onlooker, to decide what's best for her child. If Prinsloo wants to drink a beer (or even three!) and dispose of her breast milk, that's her prerogative.

Alanis Morissette has us a little tripped up right now because almost overnight, she has transformed into someone we don't recognize. Don't worry; this isn't the bad kind of transformation where we're giving her a cautious side-eye. Rather, we're kind of in awe over Morissette's total transformation, and the more we think about it, we're really into it.

Us Weekly alerted us to the new look, and we had to find a full-length picture ASAP to take it all in. Gone are the long hair and streetwear we're used to seeing Morissette sport. It's really the end of an era. Morissette showed off her appearance on Wednesday while attending a performance of the hit Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen. She wore a considerably shorter, shaggier haircut and paired the new hair with some cool aviator-style glasses with a chain. We can really only describe the look as "mom chic," but it really suits her.

Why the new look, exactly? Well, according to Morissette's Instagram, the singer has likely changed things up for her latest gig, a musical titled after her debut album, Jagged Little Pill. While Morissette has not officially confirmed her involvement, we can guess that she's joined the Jagged Little Pill ranks because she's been posting about it quite frequently. That new look of hers also happened right around the same time she started posting photos of rehearsals with the cast and a preview of the show's script.

According to a Playbill news item about a preview of the musical, Jagged Little Pill will use Morissette's music catalog as it tells the story of "a modern, multi-generational family" and will "explore gender and racial identity." From the Playbill report and Morissette's photos, the show appears to be in the preproduction/rehearsal stage.

Aside from these exciting developments with her look and the musical, Morissette's been keeping a fairly low profile lately. She has some performances in Australia already in the books this past January, and this fun new project will likely be keeping her occupied over the coming months. Stay tuned for more developments, because if this new look is any indicator, the Jagged Little Pill musical is going to be a fun ride.
