Jennifer Lawrence Drunkenly Climbing Over Oscars Seats Was Everything

There are a lot of things you can expect from the Oscars: a lukewarm funny opening monologue, a jab at Meryl Streep’s bajillion nominations and a drunk Jennifer Lawrence. This year, that last one happened before the show even began, and TBH, we can’t blame Lawrence.

More: See What the Celebs Wore to the 2018 Oscars

Minutes before Jimmy Kimmel took the stage to open the 2018 Academy Awards, the Red Sparrow actress was seen stumbling to her seat with a full glass of white wine. But instead of going down the aisle and sliding into her seat the regular way, J.Law decided to be creative and climbed over rows and rows of chairs before plopping herself down. And she did it without spilling even a splash of her wine. (Now, that’s an Oscars pro.)

The Actors Who Did (& Did Not) Support Ryan Seacrest on the Oscars Red Carpet

Despite reports of his alleged sexual misconduct making headlines, Ryan Seacrest opted to move forward with his scheduled gig as red carpet Oscars correspondent for E! on Sunday. While many people expressed their disapproval on Twitter, Seacrest wasn't completely without support. In addition to his E! colleague Giuliana Rancic, several other celebrities stopped to say hi to the beleaguered star.

And at least one of them was super pumped to see Seacrest: his Live With Kelly and Ryan co-host, Kelly Ripa. Some may even say her over-enthusiastic interview with Seacrest was a little too extra.

More: Kelly Ripa Gives Her Full Support to Live Cohost Ryan Seacrest On Air

Joined by her husband, Mark Consuelos, Ripa stopped to chat with Seacrest on the red carpet. Echoing the sentiments she shared last week on their daytime talk show, Ripa gave her co-host/friend a proverbial pat on the back, saying, "Mark came in town for 12 hours and this is how we're spending it. You look amazing. We were watching you upstairs in the hotel. You’re doing a great job."

Other stars who took the time to visit with Seacrest on the red carpet included Whoopi Goldberg, Sofia Carson, Allison Janney, Betty Gabriel, Rita Moreno, Diane Warren and Tiffany Haddish, who told Seacrest she was proud of him and that she'd been following his success since she was young.

However, not everyone was so quick to dismiss the allegations made against Seacrest by former E! stylist Suzie Hardy. In an interview published in Variety, Hardy claimed that Seacrest sexually harassed and accosted her numerous times during her six-year employment with the network.

More: How Kelly Ripa's Husband Mark Consuelos Really Feels About Ryan Seacrest

After launching an internal investigation, E! concluded there was "insufficient evidence to support the claims." But we all know that being cleared by your employer doesn't always mean you're actually innocent, and it certainly doesn't mean the public will move on.

To that end, Twitter was quick to express their reproach and to point out that veteran correspondent Seacrest didn't interview nearly as many stars at this year's awards ceremony.

Many of the Oscars' biggest names and nominees noticeably skipped interviewing with Seacrest. The entire Best Actress category — Margot Robbie, Meryl Streep, Frances McDormand, Sally Hawkins and Saoirse Ronan — chose to forego speaking to the E! host.

Could it have been because stars were shunning him, as Page Six reported prior to the evening? Or was this a calculated move by E! Network to circumvent problems? Their coverage reportedly included a 30-second delay, which could have been put in place to avoid airing any drama involving Seacrest.

Such a dramatic moment may have slipped by producers in the form of Empire's Taraji P. Henson. At the show to announce a performance by her dear friend Mary K. Blige, Henson appeared to make a pointed — albeit cloaked — dig at Seacrest.

Discussing all of Blige's success, Henson looked Seacrest directly in the eyes and said with a smirk, "You know what, the universe has a way of taking care of the good people." Henson then lightly lifted Seacrest's chin and said to him, "You know what I mean?"

Granted, the interview ended with a hug, so it's possible Henson was just talking about Blige's success. However, fueling speculation is a tweet by Vulture journalist Mark Harris stating that immediately after her interview with Seacrest, Henson told the next correspondent, "I'm great now that I'm in your company."

More: Meghan Markle Weighs in on the #MeToo Movement Ahead of Her Royal Wedding

Seacrest's scrutiny is the latest in a string of high-profile hiccups for E!, which has come under fire in recent months for its perceived lack of gender parity. Former host Catt Sadler left the network after discovering her male co-host, Jason Kennedy, was getting paid almost twice her salary. Last week, producer Aileen Gram-Moreno alleged to The New York Times that she was fired for allowing a clip of Eva Longoria defending Sadler at the Golden Globes in January to air.

As of press time, E! has not yet responded to backlash about Seacrest's appearance at the Oscars. Likewise, Henson hasn't commented on her exchange with the E! host, but Twitter is waiting with bated breath to learn whether that was, in fact, a dig.

Or, according to our favorite theory, a hex.

Mindy Kaling & BJ Novak Made Dreams Come True at an Oscars Party

Dark days may be upon us, but Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak are doing their best to take the edge off an already tense year. The pair, who memorably co-starred in The Office, partied at the annual Vanity Fair Oscars gala together — thereby giving countless fans major feels and, let's be real, hope that the sometimes couple is back "on" again.

(Oh, dear omniscient gods of television 'shipdom, please let us have this one thing.)

Kaling first sent fans into a 'shipper flurry by posting a video with Novak to Instagram, saying, "I'm headed out for a night of fun with my best friend."

She later followed it up with a glamorous selfie of the pair at the Vanity Fair party.

Like Kelly Kapoor and Ryan Howard — their onscreen alter-egos in The Office — Kaling and Novak have bounced in and out of an apparent relationship for years. While many have tried to define it, Kaling admits that not even she can succinctly describe their connection.

"I will freely admit: my relationship with B.J. Novak is weird as hell. He is not my boyfriend, but he is not my best friend," she told InStyle in 2015 (via Pop Sugar). "I guess you could describe our relationship as a 'romantically charged camaraderie with loud arguments,' but I don't think Facebook would accept this as a new status."

Judging by their seemingly mutual display of affection at Sunday evening's Oscars party, though, an official Facebook status change may be in order, or at least one can hope. That's what the Oscars are all about, right — never giving up on your dreams of Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak being together? Done.

Why Trans & Nonbinary People Must Be Included in the Abortion Conversation

Uterus User's Guide

In conversations about abortion rights, we (people who talk about abortion) use the word “women” a lot. As in, "Women need access to safe abortion," "Women deserve the right to determine what’s best for themselves and their families." When we only talk about women and when we assume abortion-seekers are always women, we erase the experiences of trans and nonbinary folks who want and have abortions.

“There hasn’t been a time when I wasn’t telling my abortion story,” says Cazembe Jackson, a black, Southern, queer and trans organizer and storyteller with We Testify, a project of the National Network of Abortion Funds, which aims to broaden the spectrum of abortion stories we hear. Jackson had an abortion in college after he became pregnant as the result of rape. Instead of stories exclusively by white, wealthy cis women, We Testify seeks to amplify the voices of trans people, nonbinary folks, people of color and those from rural communities.

More: How a Transgender Woman Is Able to Breastfeed

“I wanted to be the person I was looking for,” Jackson tells me. “I know there are other people like me — black trans men — who need to be able to see people like me talking about abortion access.”  In his abortion story, he also emphasizes the importance of seeing and hearing trans men in conversations about pregnancy.

“No one is talking about pregnancy and childbirth in a trans-inclusive way,” he says. “We need to separate gender from the ability to reproduce, but we only talk about removing uteruses and then acting like they never existed.”

Abortion access is one thing — but who do we want to be able to access abortion? If you’re poor or you live in an area with no clinic, for example, you should still be able to get an abortion, and if you’re an organization advocating for everyone, everyone should be part of the conversation.

“It’s not justice if only a select group of people can get it,” says Jackson. “If you don’t have a job, the choice to have an abortion isn’t really a choice. Everyone can’t pay for it.”

Jack Qu’emi Gutiérrez had an abortion in college. “I was one of the only trans [people] who was talking about my abortion experience as trans person,” they say. By the time they met up with We Testify organizer Renee Bracey Sherman, they had had many encounters with organizations who theoretically intended to implement trans and nonbinary inclusion, but weren’t actually trying that hard.

“People say stuff like, “Oh, we’ll get there,” and “This is Jack, her pronouns are they/them. I keep experiencing these things in supposedly progressive spaces, so I have to keep talking about it," they add.

“When you close down a clinic that provides abortion, you’re also closing down access to testosterone and other kinds of trans health care,” says Lizz Winstead of Lady Parts Justice League. Lady Parts Justice got its name from a 2012 incident in the Michigan statehouse in which Rep. Lisa Brown was told she could not use the word vagina when talking about a bill about transvaginal ultrasounds. The speaker of the house suggested “lady parts” as a more appropriate alternative.

While Lady Parts Justice does not claim to work with a reproductive justice framework (it’s a self-described abortion rights organization), Winstead emphasizes that their traveling company, which does comedy as well as clinic-escorting and other services in communities where abortion is openly stigmatized and inaccessible, includes trans and gender nonconforming people. “Seeing yourself on stage is vital,” she says. “This is a really good topic to be talking about constantly.”

More: Sexual Health in Your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s & Beyond

If it weren’t already abundantly clear, creating trans-inclusive spaces when it comes to discussing abortion is not just about making changes on paper — it’s about manifesting intention, and that means, among other things, showing up in the clinic when trans folks are seeking and getting the abortion. This is as simple as listening and paying attention when the patient states their gender, not mis-gendering them and if you do, apologizing and not doing it again. “Language makes a world of difference,” says Jackson.

In addition, think twice before bombarding someone with your questions. A medical procedure is a vulnerable moment, and it’s not the time to ask someone about their gender identity, their intentions for transition (short answer — it’s none of your business) or anything else that might be crossing your mind. If it’s not medically relevant, don’t bring it up.

If you’re trans or nonbinary, what should you keep in mind when going to get an abortion?

“Be firm about who you are,” says Qu’emi Gutiérrez. However, they emphasize the importance of self-care before, during and after the procedure. “If you just want to move on with your life, you might not want to educate your provider just then.”

More: Here's What to Do if You Can’t Afford an Abortion

Jackson suggests taking a buddy to your abortion and keeping in mind you’ll likely be mis-gendered. “Don’t allow it to make you feel like the gender that you understand is wrong. Had I known that, it would have hurt a lot less in that area,” he says.

So quit while you're ahead: Shut down those browsers and turn your attention to the spring break trip ideas ahead, which are guaranteed to make that budgeting spreadsheet smile. From hidden gems in the Midwest to all-inclusive options across the border, here are five options that are high in entertainment and low in cost.

Athens County, Ohio

Budget Family Spring Break Destinations | Athens County, Ohio

Estimated weeklong cost: $400

Never heard of this place? No worries. We hadn't either. But in the rolling hills of southeastern Appalachia in Ohio, this little-known destination is overflowing with adventurous pursuits — not expenses. It’s estimated by the tourism board that a weeklong vacation for a family of four (including a hotel stay, meals and entertainment) only comes out to a cool $400. To keep kids occupied in Athens County, consider renting bikes and exploring the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway, which takes you past the community center and Ohio University all the way to the wooded area of the Hocking River, where cherry blossom trees will be in their prime during spring.

Since you might need to refresh and recharge — you’re on vacay too, remember — make a pit stop at some of the several craft-beer breweries along the trail. Best of all, many of them are kid-friendly, so you can have a bit of booze while your kids get their pick of age-appropriate refreshments. For a chill day, hang by the beach area in Strouds Run State Park or rent kayaks. Depending on your budget, you can stay at a hotel, rent a cabin or nestle into a bed-and-breakfast.

Orlando, Florida

Budget Family Spring Break Destinations | Orlando, FL

Estimated hotel cost for six nights: $960

Finally, you can surprise your Frozen- and Cars-obsessed kiddos with a trip to the happiest place on Earth. While Walt Disney World doesn’t run cheap, you can cut back on the overall trip cost by staying at a hotel that’s not too far away from the resort and offers affordable amenities. One smart solution is Embassy Suites by Hilton Lake Buena Vista South, only a 10-minute commute from Disney with nightly rates starting at $160. Sure, that's not the cheapest hotel rate ever, but hang on: You can skip on paying for the parking at Mickey’s playground by taking the hotel's $8 per person round-trip shuttle. Each stay also comes with a free made-to-order breakfast and a complimentary "bites and beverages reception" in the evening so you spend less on overpriced park food. And while you're there, why not cut back on the card bill by enjoying a non-Disney day at the hotel by the outdoor pool?

Estes Park, Colorado

Budget Family Spring Break Destinations | Estes Park, Colorado

Estimated cost for a weeklong cabin rental: $828

Want to take a great Wild West road trip with your kids? Definitely make a stop along the famous mountain ranges that define this part of the United States. Did you know that one of the most affordable options for a family to experience the serenity and the adventure of the Rockies is by staying at the YMCA located right at the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park?

Here, you can rent a rustic cabin with two bedrooms for $118 a night and make it your home away from home. Buy groceries to cook in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoy the YMCA's complimentary yoga, wildlife ecology classes, guided hikes and sand volleyball.

Plus, the YMCA can also help you book arts and crafts classes — from silk painting to basket weaving — as well as archery and fly-fishing lessons. Throughout the property, you’ll find zip-lining paths, bikes to borrow, a disc golf course... the list goes on. One thing’s for sure: Everyone in the fam will come back thoroughly exhausted and with plenty of memories to share in class (or in the conference room).

Carlsbad, California

Budget Family Spring Break Destinations | Carlsbad, CA

Estimated hotel cost for six nights: $1,290

Close to San Diego, Carlsbad, California, is known for its famous Tamarack Surf Beach — as well as being home to Legoland and the Sea Life Aquarium. Here, you might stumble across wild peacocks that roam through the local historic park located in (wait for it) a canyon. Ideal for families looking for equal parts relaxation, exploration and entertainment, Carlsbad is far more affordable than most other towns off Highway 1.

Though the Cape Rey Resort is a tad more expensive at $215 a night, it’s well worth the price hike since it offers a ton of free or low-cost activities for families who book in advance. For example, the resort can arrange for kids to become official California State Park junior rangers. Bike rentals for exploration are also a fun addition, as are inexpensive surfing lessons (including instruction, surfboard rental and a GoPro camera to record your attempts at hanging 10). Many stays also include the Stay, Play & Save discount, which gives you up to 15 percent off at nearby restaurants and theme parks.

Quintana Roo, Mexico

Budget Family Spring Break Destinations | Quintana Roo, Mexico

All-inclusive stay for six nights: $652

For a spring break that doesn’t just get you out of town but out of the country, consider booking a beachy getaway to Quintana Roo, Mexico. On the Caribbean coast and just northwest of Cancun, there are plenty of affordable all-inclusive offers that remove much of the headache (and expense) of family vacation planning. One recommended option is the Grand Residences Riviera Cancun, where a family of four can stay for six — fun- and food-filled — nights with all meals and drinks included for less than $700.

In addition to several pools, Jacuzzis and, of course, a beautiful beach, the resort also knows how important it is to keep your most prized carry-on items — your kids — entertained so you can relax. Here, you can take everything from Spanish classes to snorkeling lessons.

All Hail the Women Who Just Bought The Weinstein Company

$

It probably would have been easy to just let Harvey Weinstein's embattled company, The Weinstein Company, fall into bankruptcy, ending the disgraced producer's long legacy of abusing women. But that would have provided no help or closure, plus it would have taken jobs from the 150 people the company employs, who don't deserve to be punished because their boss is a piece of human garbage. What to do? Obviously, women have the answer.

More: All the Celebrities Who Have Accused Harvey Weinstein of Sexual Misconduct — so Far

A group of investors, primarily female, saved TWC from bankruptcy at the last minute, swooping in with $500 million to buy the company. That includes $80 million they've pledged to put into a relief fund to disperse to Weinstein's many victims. They also plan to remove the board that covered up Weinstein's actions and install their own mostly female board and keep all of TWC's innocent employees in their jobs. Oh, and they're led by Maria Contreras-Sweet, the former head of the Small Business Administration during Barack Obama's presidency and basically just an all-around feminist badass who believes in giving women all the same opportunities that are given to men.

"I have had a long-standing commitment to fostering women ownership in business," she said in a statement. "This potential deal is an important step to that end."

More: A Timeline of Harvey Weinstein's Life in Hollywood

The deal isn't done yet. It will take 40 days to be complete. But at the end of that, the women who are stepping up hope to have a movie and TV production studio with a new name and a new commitment to giving women a platform to tell their stories. The timing for this couldn't be more perfect. Women are poised to run the new, post-reckoning Hollywood, and the industry can only get better because of it.

Millennials get a lot of hate, and frankly, I don't get it. Just look at all the amazing food trends they have given us! They reignited our love for avocados, filled our feeds with pictures of mermaid- and unicorn-inspired drinks and bedazzled our morning coffee, and now, they're taking beer to a whole new level.

As Munchies first pointed out, breweries across the country are now experimenting with mesmerizing, glitter-infused beers. This edible glitter is perfectly safe to eat (er, drink!) and will look incredible on our social media posts, which is obviously all any of us care about anyway.

The glitter beer made its debut at breweries like Ska Brewing in Colorado, Three Weavers Brewing Company out in California and at Bold Missy Brewery in North Carolina, but it seems to have actually been around for a while. In 2016, HuffPost wrote about a pink ale that included… you got it … edible glitter.

But, really, is that so surprising? If you happen to own some edible glitter, we imagine you can throw it into any beer you happen to have available anywhere.

Why You May Want to Consider the Latest Fitness Trend, 'Plogging'

Another day, another new fitness trend. While some — like spinning — are here to stay, others — like napercising — never really took off. Enter plogging.

What exactly is plogging, you ask? Before you get too excited, you should know it's really just going for a run and picking up litter along the way. (Or maybe that does get you excited — we're not here to judge.)

Like so many forward-thinking practices, this one comes from Scandinavia — Sweden to be exact. In fact, the word "plogging" is apparently a combination of the Swedish phrase "plocka upp' (which Google Translate tells me means "pick up") and jogging.

The BBC traces plogging back to an October 2016 Instagram post by retailer Scandinavian Outdoor (who else?), which invited people to join a group, "pick 'n jog."

MoreHot Baths Benefit Your Body Like Exercise Does

Given how Insta-friendly plogging is — combining everyone's favorite social media pastimes of showing off how much they work out and do good deeds — it's actually surprising this has taken so long to catch on.

That's not to knock plogging, though. If people want to run around and pick up garbage while they do it, more power to them. It's advised that if you intentionally set out to plog, you bring a bag for the trash you collect and possibly even some gloves to make the whole experience a little less gross.

plogging

Lest you think this is something reserved for fancy Europeans, it's not. Keep America Beautiful has partnered with an app called Lifesum that allows users to log and track their plogging.

MoreYoga Class Dropout Tries Again With Hilaria Baldwin

“Litter impacts our quality of life and economic development, and often ends up as marine debris, polluting our waterways and oceans and harming wildlife and the environment," Mike Rosen, senior vice president of marketing and communications at Keep America Beautiful, said in a statement. "Plogging is brilliant because it is simple and fun, while empowering everyone to help create cleaner, greener and more beautiful communities. All you need is running gear and a bag for trash or recyclables, and you are not only improving your own health, but your local community too.”

So in case you were looking for a way to get your steps in and your good karma points, plogging may be the answer.

Here's Why Giuliana Rancic Wasn't Wearing Her Wedding Ring at the Oscars

Eagle-eyed viewers of last night's Oscars red carpet proceedings might have noticed a tiny detail about Giuliana Rancic's outfit that's raising some serious concern among fans: She wasn't wearing her engagement ring or her wedding band. Is there trouble between her and her husband, Bill, that we don't know about? Do we need to brace ourselves for the news that another great Hollywood couple will soon be no more?

More: Giuliana Rancic Finally Responds to All the "Too Skinny" Body-Shaming

Actually, that couldn't be further from the truth, so take a breath, fans. The Rancics' marriage is still safe. There's a very simple reason Rancic wasn't wearing her engagement ring or wedding band at the Oscars: They didn't fit with her look.

Instead, she was wearing an enormous 10-carat diamond ring on her middle finger on her left hand. Pairing that ring with her 4-carat engagement ring and her diamond-studded wedding band would have made for one crowded, blinged-out hand. It would have been too much, and Rancic knew it. So she opted for the giant diamond that went with her dress, leaving her wedding set off for the night.

This isn't the first time Rancic has left her wedding set off in the name of fashion. At the Golden Globes, she also opted for one enormous ring on her middle finger instead of her engagement ring and wedding band.

Someone Tried to Steal Frances McDormand's Oscar

If there were an Oscar for best Oscars acceptance speech, Frances McDormand would have it in the bag. But unfortunately, that category doesn't exist, so the only Oscar McDormand took home last night was the one she won for Best Actress after giving an unforgettable performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri — except for the fact that she almost didn't even take the one she won fair and square home with her. According to The Hollywood Reporter, someone was arrested at an Oscars after-party for trying to swipe McDormand's statuette. What the heck?

The man, identified as Terry Bryant in the latest reports, was taken into police custody after trying to steal the award at the Governor's Ball on Sunday evening, police told THR. Thankfully, Rolling Stone had a little more information this morning, including the fact that Bryant shot video of himself after he nabbed McDormand's statuette, showing himself kissing the trophy and saying, "This is mine. We got it tonight, baby ... who wants to tell me congratulations?"

Rolling Stone also reports that Bryant was stopped by a photographer before he was able to leave the party and that photographer recovered the award for McDormand while security apprehended the suspect and waited for police to arrive to take over. Police reports show Bryant was arrested for felony grand theft.

"Fran and Oscar are happily reunited and are enjoying an In-N-Out burger together," McDormand's rep told reporters Monday. Of course she would have that kind of a sense of humor about almost losing her hard-earned award.

Whether the alleged thief was just a McDormand superfan or wanted the statue to turn a profit remains unknown. Someone should probably tell him, though, that Oscars statues aren't worth nearly as much as you'd think (considering the trouble you have to go through to make one and win one) and also, don't mess with McDormand's property, OK?

Here's How It Really Feels to Be the First Competitor Voted Off Survivor

$

Being voted off first is never easy. Stephanie Gonzalez has that distinction after her tribe sent her packing early on Survivor: Ghost Island. In our one-on-one interview with Gonzalez, she explained why her elimination came as no surprise despite looking like a blindside on TV. Plus, she revealed which player she believes has the best shot to win it all.

SheKnows: Were you really blindsided or did you know you were getting voted off?

Stephanie Gonzalez: I knew I was going home because of how inconsistent the names were being tossed around. I think we tossed around every single name in whatever conversation I was with. Then I realized when I went for a walk right before Tribal Council and we were getting ready to go to Tribal, I was not part of one conversation. Sure enough, eight votes my way. I was not a part of that one conversation right before Tribal Council, and that was the one conversation that all the votes got switched to me. I already knew going into Tribal, it's definitely me and I need to do whatever I can to save myself.

Stephanie Gonzalez whispers at Tribal Council on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: We saw you make some last-minute whispers with several people at Tribal Council. What was being said in those whispers?

SG: I spoke to Brendan and Michael. I confirmed that it was definitely me going home. They both gave me two different names when they were supposed to be in an alliance voting together. They couldn't get their stories straight with me. So I went directly to Libby and I told her that Brendan just decided to change the vote to Donathan. Brendan ultimately kind of spoke to everybody about who should go. I said, "Hey, Libby. We're changing the vote to Donathan. Not me." She said, "OK. That sounds good." Then I tried to talk with Michael and said, "You realize who's orchestrating this vote?" He asked if we should take Brendan out. I said no because he's really physically strong and we really need him. By the time I sat down, everyone had already whispered to each other about what I had said. It doesn't matter about how many times I got up to whisper.

Stephanie Gonzalez on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: Is there one person who turned the tide against you? How did it happen?

SG: It wasn't one person in specific. It was because everyone just didn't want it to be them. I was such a question mark. I wasn't a girly-girl they could figure out. I had a dynamic personality and they were afraid of me. They were like, "We don't really know what she's about. She's talking game. We're not really ready to play. We want to keep the camp happy. Let's get rid of her and we'll go back to camp happy." Brendan will not piss off Stephanie by voting Jenna off. Brendan couldn't get rid of Donathan because we had an emotional moment at the beach where he was saying he didn't want to go. We all got emotional. We saw a vulnerable side of him, and we didn't want to vote him out. At the last minute, it turned against me and it was a group thing.

Malolo tribe on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: What was going through your head as you were eliminated?

SG: I was livid. I already knew I was going home, so it was baffling our tribe just didn't care to keep strong and win more challenges. They actually chose to get rid of somebody that could potentially be a good asset for future challenges. I was really upset. I made a lot of sacrifices to go out there. I know everybody else did too, but my mom was getting married. I'm missing a huge wedding as she renewed her vows with my dad, so it really hurt me. I was pissed. They didn't show the lines I said, but I actually said a lot more than just "sad." I said, "One lion and seven lambs, and everybody is listening to the damn lion until they get taken out." I was really pissed that nobody wanted to play. Everyone was more concerned with keeping camp happy.

Stephanie Gonzalez at Tribal Council on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: Are you over it now?

SG: I'm totally over it. I don't dwell and let things sink in. It is what it is. I just hope people watching can see and understand there was a lot more to my story. There was so much that happened that was instrumental to my edit that couldn't be shown, otherwise we'd have a six-hour premiere. That's my biggest thing. I wish more than anything people could really see much more of what I had to offer in the conversations that were instrumental that didn't make it on TV.

Malolo tribe on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: Did you have any alliances?

SG: Yeah. I actually had a couple conversations with Steph that were really cool. We were talking about drinking wine and going out, just really cool things and we kind of bonded a lot. I also had a conversation with Donathan and Michael they didn't show. I had a couple conversations with Brendan when we got sea snails to eat. We caught a crab, and it was cool. I had a couple conversations with James, too, that were just really fun about coconuts. There were a lot of really cool connections and conversations and things you don't get to appreciate because it didn't make it on TV.

SK: You never got to experience going to Ghost Island, but what did you think was out there?

SG: I am super-bummed out that I didn't get to see it. As soon as Jeff announced Ghost Island, we were so excited. I stayed up that night thinking about it. I remember looking up at the stars and being like, "Oh, my God. I want to go to Ghost Island. Are there any ghosts? [Laughs] That's probably a stupid thought, but I need to see what the hell is there." I knew there was gonna be potentially decision games because he mentioned past Survivor decisions and mistakes. Of course, it was much cooler than what I imagined. It had the snuffers. I think that's the coolest thing. It was beyond what my expectations were of it.

Stephanie Gonzalez with Libby Vincek on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: How did you get on the show?

SG: I sent in a tape. I got a reply back, and it was a long, grueling process. I don't know that I've ever had so much anxiety in my life. Every day I was obsessively checking my emails and checking my phone calls to see if there was any kind of light I was going to be picked. They said, "Your video is good, but maybe if you send another one we can kind of get to know you a little bit better." This is no exaggeration [laughs], I spent three days with friends literally trying to record videos doing the most absurd, obnoxious and energetic things I could do all over my town. I went downtown at a parking garage and I was jumping from the ledge toward the screen while yelling at Jeff. I was talking about how much I hate Trump and how shitty of a person he is. I just did the most outrageous things. If there was any possibility of me getting on and they took the time to see my videos, I used the opportunity and ran with it. It was grueling and long, but overall I was insanely happy with the outcome.

Stephanie Gonzalez on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: You bring up President Trump. Did you guys talk politics during the game?

SG: We didn't talk politics, and I'm glad we didn't because I know Jenna and Libby are die-hard Trump supporters who voted for him. I'm really glad we didn't talk about that [laughs.] Even if we did talk about it, I treat people equally whatever their beliefs are.

SK: Who on your tribe do you believe is the most impressive player who stands the best shot to win the whole game?

SG: The most impressive player is Brendan. I think Laurel too just because she's quiet. Quiet gets ignored when it comes to the chopping block.

Stephanie Gonzalez on Survivor: Ghost Island

SK: What was your strategy going into the game?

SG: My strategy was just to be kind and very sweet to everyone. Naturally, that's how I am with people. I'm kind. I'm intrigued. I want to know their story. I'm a people person and a people pleaser. I wanted to bring that into the game, but not let it lure my decisions of what needs to get done.

SK: What did you take away from the experience?

SG: How bad I want to go back again. I dream about this every single night just how hungry I am to be put back out there. I feel like I have so much more to prove. First out is literally the worst vote. After three days, you're right back in Ponderosa. That's horrific to me. I feel like it's always gonna be a life dream to be put back out there. I owe it to myself to prove I can make it past three days. I feel like a kindergartner could do that.

Meghan Markle Is Picking Up Traditional Royal Habits From Kate Middleton

If we’re being honest, Meghan Markle doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to royal rules. She’s signed an autograph, worn her hair in a messy bun and — dare we say it — stepped out in public without pantyhose (the horror!). However, she’s slowly but surely learning, as evidenced by her latest public appearance when she copied a subtle yet crucial royal habit from her soon-to-be sister-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge, formerly known as Kate Middleton.

More: Check Your Mail! Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Are Sending Out Extra Invitations

Recently, Markle, Kate and their respective beaus, Princes Harry and William, attended an event highlighting the family’s charity, The Royal Foundation. And though the event — which marked the foursome’s first-ever public appearance together — saw huge headlines due to Markle’s astute and timely comments on the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements, royal historians also paid close attention to the way she was sitting.

For one of her first major public appearances since November, when she announced her engagement, Markle followed tradition by angling her legs in what royal fanatics call the “duchess slant.” The pose —which has been adopted by Kate, Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth and many royal women before Markle — consists of women keeping their knees together and ankles tucked and crossed when sitting down in a dress or skirt.

Meghan New Traditional Royal Habit : Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton at an interview

According to Myka Meier, royal etiquette expert and founder of Beaumont Etiquette, crossing one’s legs at the knees is seen as unladylike per royal tradition. To avoid this, royal women are taught the duchess slant, which prevents cameras and wandering eyes from looking up a royal woman’s skirt.

“Typically the ‘duchess slant’ is used when a lady has to sit for an extended amount of time while keeping poise and posture,” Meier told People magazine. “It is the perfect pose for when a camera is shooting directly in front of you because by slightly slanting the knees to create a zig-zag effect when wearing a dress or skirt, your legs are angled so that the camera only shoots the sides of your legs and protects your modesty.”

Along with keeping your knees together and in a slant, the duchess slant also includes keeping your hands folded neatly on top of each other in your lap and your shoulders squared straight ahead.

“The key with the technique is to square your shoulders straight ahead while maintaining perfect posture,” Meier said. “Keeping knees and ankles together at all times, position your legs so that you create a slant, angling your knees to the side. Hands should be folded one over the other and placed in your lap.”

However, the pose isn’t only for royal brownie points. According to Meier, it also helps your legs appear longer in pictures, so you can thank the royal family for your future tall-looking selfies.

Fans who follow The Band Perry's Kimberly Perry and her husband, former Major League Baseball player J.P. Arencibia, may have noticed that their social media feeds of late are noticeably devoid of any signs of coupledom. In fact, Perry and Arencibia have hardly mentioned each other on social media in the past year, the one exception being when Arencibia wished Perry a happy birthday on Instagram back in July 2017. That kind of social media silence is often one of the most telling but subtle signs a celeb marriage is coming to an end, and that's true for Perry and Arencibia; they just officially announced their split on Monday.

Perry officially filed for divorce from Arencibia after being married to him for almost four years. In her filing, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, according to People. Arencibia has stayed quiet so far, but a rep for Perry confirmed they're heading for divorce and asked reporters to give both parties privacy. Later, Perry released a short statement on Instagram.

"Yes, sadly it’s true, my marriage has come to an end," she wrote. "I know that beauty will come from these ashes and, as always, I want to thank you all for your love and support. I’ll be in touch soon."

Khloé Kardashian Shocked to Learn She's Not Having a Baby Boy

It's raining baby girls in Kardashian-Jenner Land. Khloé Kardashian was completely dumbfounded to learn that the baby boy she'd been expecting with Tristan Thompson is, well — a baby girl.

The big news was revealed on Sunday's season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians. It was Kris Jenner who first intrigued fans with this Instagram post before the season finale.

And then it was Kylie Jenner who got the baby sex news from Kardashian's doctor — and told Kardashian over the phone. Not sure why the doctor didn't deliver the news, but hey, this is Kardashian-Jennerland, and we're just visiting.

More: Khloé Kardashian Expecting... a Baby Boy?

The KUWTK episode featured Khloé Kardashian visiting Kim Kardashian West in San Francisco when Kylie Jenner phoned her — and told her that her baby is a girl. Kardashian's shocked reaction? "You're lying... I don't feel like I'm having a girl."

Kardashian and Thompson were apparently quite certain a baby boy was on the way. "When you have your mind made up as to what you're having... like, everyone told me you're going to feel what you're having and you'll just kind of know. And then when you find out it's the complete opposite, it's just a shock," Kardashian said in the same episode. "I just was convinced that I was having a boy, so to be having a girl, it's just like, ‘OK that wasn't what I thought was going on.'"

Don't tell North West, but her mom, Kardashian West, consoled her sister, saying, "It's OK. I cried when I found out North was going to be a girl too."

Don't worry. It was just the shock talking (and weeping). Kardashian tweeted to fans that she's actually over the moon about her soon-to-be daughter.

“God gives us what we need! His timing is never wrong! my hormones were IN RARE FORM for that news,” she tweeted. “I am now so excited my daughter will have forever best friends with Chicago and Stormi!! God is great!!! Thank you Lord for our princess.”

Fans were quick to offer congrats — and ask about possible baby names. Kardashian revealed she'd had plenty of boys names on tap, but is now stumped. She did hint at initials, though.

"I think a T but a K is an option as well. That’s as far as I know," she tweeted.

Chicago (Kardashian West and Kanye West's baby, born in January via surrogate) and Stormi (Kylie Jenner's baby with Travis Scott) will soon have another girl to grow up with, on and off camera. In fact, there is no way these girls are not going to be reality TV show stars in 2040. You heard it here first.

Itchy Vagina? Here's What's Causing It & How to Treat It

Uterus User's Guide

If your vagina — or vulva — is itchy, it's not only annoying, but it can be concerning as well. While there are many different causes, some are more common than others, and there is good news — treatment is available for whatever is ailing your nether regions.

Yeast infection

The problem: A yeast infection is one of the most common causes of vaginal itching. "A yeast infection occurs when the balance of organisms present in a healthy vagina is disrupted, resulting in an overgrowth of yeast, typically candida albicans, Dr. Peter Rizk, an OB-GYN with Fairhaven Health tells SheKnows.

"In addition to the telltale itchiness of a yeast infection, you may also notice pain or burning upon urination or intercourse," he adds. "Additionally, a thick, white discharge may also occur."

More: Here's What People Got Stuck in Their Vaginas Last Year

The solution: A yeast infection will typically respond to antifungal treatment, which can be purchased over-the-counter or be prescribed by a doctor, but it's important to see a medical care provider to get an accurate diagnosis so you're treating the problem correctly.

Bacterial vaginosis

The problem: While yeast infections are common, there is another baddie that can lead to vaginal itchiness — and it's not yeast. Instead, it's an overgrowth of bacteria that can be accompanied by vaginal discharge, burning and an unpleasant odor, according to Rizk.

The solution: Bacterial vaginosis requires a doctor visit for both diagnosis and treatment, which is in the form of antibiotics.

Dampness

The problem: A damp crotch isn't just uncomfortable — it can lead to an unpleasant bout of itching, explains Dr. Tami Prince, an OB-GYN and medical director at U.S. HealthWorks. Dampness can come from many sources: mild urinary incontinence, non-breathable undies or excessive sweating without changing your drawers.

The solution: Air out your vulva every now and then, wear cotton underpants, wear panty-liners if occasional leaking is a problem (and feel free to visit your OB-GYN to look into urinary incontinence as well) and change your bottoms after exercising.

MoreReminder: Vagina Is Not a Dirty Word

Contact dermatitis

The problem: Vaginal or vulvar itching can be caused by something as simple as the soap or laundry detergent you use, and it can develop even if you've been using the product for years, says Dr. Robin Evans, a dermatologist at Southern Connecticut Dermatology. The sensitive skin in this area is at risk of developing irritation from something it comes into contact with, which is known as contact dermatitis. Soap and detergent can cause this, but also wipes, shaving creams, condoms and lubes.

The solution: This may be a matter of whittling down the products that you expose your vulva to in order to figure out which one is the culprit behind your irritation. If you'd rather avoid guesswork, a dermatologist can conduct allergy patch testing (usually on your back), which can help identify the cause.

Aging

The problem: As long as we're living, we're also aging, and while being alive is good, aging affects all the structures of our bodies, including our skin. Aging skin, however, can be found in areas other than our face, and yes, we mean the skin you find in your pants.

"During and after menopause, estrogen levels are significantly lower than they were while you were still ovulating, and this can lead to thinning of the vulvar and vaginal skin," says Dr. Tsippora Shainhouse, a board-certified dermatologist who often sees patients in her practice who have been referred by their gynecologists. "This can cause a chronic irritation, itch or burning sensation and can increase the risk of skin tears in the vulvovaginal area," she adds.

The solution: Your doctor can prescribe topical or oral estrogen replacement that can improve your itchy-parts problem.

Lichen sclerosus

The problem: Lichen sclerosus is another specific rash that can appear in the vulvar area, says Evans. "It is important to identify and diagnose this rash (which is typically done with a skin biopsy) because of the potential development of scarring and skin cancer in these areas," she says.

The solution: This requires a doctor visit, as mentioned, and if this is your diagnosis, your doctor will probably prescribe a topical corticosteroid, which you will then apply to the affected area.

MoreWhat to Do If You Get Something Stuck Inside Your Vagina

Get yourself to a doctor

It's important to get a proper diagnosis if you experience more than a little occasional itching, as persistent itching really needs to be evaluated by a physician. While some causes of itching, such as constant undies wetness, can be remedied at home, other causes will need a doctor's input and treatment, but don't worry — you can and will get help so your girly parts will be happy again.

Chrissy Teigen is always our favorite to watch at Hollywood award bashes. She arrives drop-dead gorgeous on the arm of her doting husband (singer John Legend), and her awesome expressions guarantee unlimited GIFs and memes. What's not to love?

But this year, the six-months-pregnant model, Lip Sync Battle star and cookbook author played hooky from all the Academy Awards hullabaloo in favor of (wait for it) trying to track down a taco truck, as she revealed most entertainingly on her Twitter feed. And not just any taco truck would do for Teigen — she was seeking the exact taco truck featured in Netflix's Ugly Delicious.

There's never enough time to bond with your daughter, and that becomes truer and truer the older she gets. But with spring break coming up, her schedule just might be wide open, making this an ideal moment to plan some quality time. Our recommendation? Volunteer together.

Volunteering is a free and simple way to shake up your day-to-day routine and create a memorable experience. One brand that's all about fostering positive values like volunteering and philanthropy in girls is the tween clothing brand Justice.

We teamed up with Justice, whose mission is "Live Justice," to find five volunteer opportunities that allow girls to live out its mission-based values this spring break, and then we paired each activity with a piece from Justice's spring collection. From tending gardens to visiting nursing homes, our list has something you and your daughter will love.

Garden at a Local Park

If you want to get creative outdoors, see if your local park has any gardening opportunities or other beautification projects for volunteers. Cities like Sacramento, California, and New Orleans, Louisiana, offer gardening opportunities like weeding, mulching and trimming in city parks, where kids can work hard, get dirty and feel proud.

What to wear: Ombre Denim Jacket, $39.90

Serve Lunch at a Food Bank

In the U.S., more than 1 in 6 people face hunger, and more than 1 in 5 children are at risk of hunger. Volunteering at your local food bank or a national organization like St. Mary’s helps kids understand their good fortune and feel like they’re not only spreading positivity but also providing real solutions.

What to wearThrow Kindness Around Like Confetti Tee, $19.90

Become Running Coaches

Does your daughter love to run? Volunteer as a coach or running buddy with Girls on the Run, an organization Justice has partnered with. You two can get active while improving the lives of other girls.

What to wear: Printed Lattice High-Waist Crop Leggings, $22.90

Visit a Nursing Home

Make plans to visit a nearby nursing home. Whether you're there to chat with residents, do an activity together or assist staff, it’s a great way for your daughter to connect with an older generation and help the local community.

What to wear: Positive Message Cold Shoulder Top, $22.90

Organize a Community Event

If you can't find the perfect activity, why not start it yourself? Organizing a community event will allow your daughter to connect to her community and prove she can do anything. Organize a clothing drive together or a host block party to raise money for charity. She can always recruit some friends to join in and share time with those who matter most.

What to wear: Ombre Tank, $14.90

My Daughter Marched Before She Walked — but Activism Is More Than That

Winning Women banner

On Jan. 20, 2018, I participated in the Women’s March in NYC — along with my 3-year-old twins, 22-month-old daughter, my husband and around 200,000 other New Yorkers who are passionate about gender equality and fundamental human rights. Attending marches and protests is not new to me, nor is bringing my kids. The latter is a fact that elicits questions from some and praise from others.

At this particular demonstration, my youngest, Skyler marched proudly down 6th Avenue with a sign draped around her neck that read, “I Marched Before I Walked.” It was an obvious slogan; after all, her debut in activism had been in utero at the 2015 NYC Pride Parade. And at the ripe age of 22 months, Skyler had already been wheeled, slung, pushed and nursed through upward of 20 activism events. She rallied to #SaveOurHealthCare. She protested acts of injustice, from deportations to the tax scam to the end of DACA to the murder of Philando Castile to the appointment of Jeff Sessions to Trump's Muslim ban and beyond.

But I was still shocked by the reaction this tiny human with her simple sign received from fellow marchers and onlookers on Jan. 20. She was surrounded at every step by admirers — and after the March, photos of her went viral.

My daughter marched before she walked

My daughter marched before she walked

But while internet fame is all well and good (and I'm certainly proud that my daughter was rocketed so quickly into notorious pint-size badass territory), what happens next? Now that the March — two years of marches, in fact — is behind us, how can I as a parent keep the spirit of peaceful protest alive in my daughter's daily life? How do I teach her that activism is much more than marching?

More: The Best Kids Books for Baby Feminists

The way I see it, protests are just one spoke of the activism wheel, and modeling a multi-wheeled activist lifestyle with the hope of instilling that in our children is... well, a vehicle that seems difficult to keep up to speed.

Activism, in its most general definition, is concentrated campaigning with the goal of social or political change. So I see those activism spokes as: listening to viewpoints that are different from your own, communicating frequently with elected representatives, taking leads from those around us who are silenced or marginalized (both historically and presently), disrupting the status quo, showing up when injustices arise, standing in solidarity with others when basic human rights are threatened and speaking up and out for those whose voices are silenced by systemic systems of oppression.

But what does all that look like for small kids who spend the majority of their time bickering over who set foot in the kitchen first?

It looks like imagination.

More: How My Daughter's Mental Illness Makes Me a Better Mom

And involving young children in activism is as simple as creating spaces and providing opportunities for that imagination to flourish. If we can’t imagine a better future or a more just society, how will we ever be able to bring one about?

During the Women's March, we passed a poster with an illustration of the Statue of Liberty. My son, Zane, looked at it and asked me, “Mom, why does the pointy lady have blood all over her and why does she look so sad?”

"Well," I answered, “the pointy lady imagines a world where anyone can come to America regardless of who they are or where they are from. In our country right now, decisions are being made that make it difficult for all people to come to America, and that makes her very sad. What kind of America would you like to have?"

He didn't respond, but I could see him thinking — and imagining.

More: Feminist Sweaters for Little Activists

As a parent, I strive to fuel my children’s exploration and discovery of their sense of identity and their values. Contrary to the beliefs of some, involving young kids in activism doesn’t brainwash them with a specific "left or right" agenda; rather, it exposes them to a wide range of human struggles, causes, dreams and expressions. By growing up participating in activism, I hope my kids will discover for themselves — and continue to live by — the pillars of decency, compassion, justice, love and equality. And if the spokes of activism are varied and many, then their hub is undoubtedly imagination.

Skyler, I am also proud that you marched before you walked. May we all march for the world we imagine — and may we as parents raise imaginations.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z Are Getting Ready to Announce Big News

It's been four long years since Beyoncé and Jay-Z toured together, and for good reason. They've been busy doing things like having to twins and dropping surprise groundbreaking albums. You know, just casual things that couples do. But fans know they are long overdue for some marital/musical collaboration, and rumors are starting to fly saying the end of the Jay-oncé tour dry spell is on the horizon.

More: This Is What the World's First Beyoncé & Jay Z-Themed Restaurant Looks Like

"They will tour together starting this summer," an insider told People. "They are incredibly excited. It took a lot of work to make this happen. It’s the best choice for their family."

The source also explained that this summer tour will be a true family affair — that all the Carter kids — 6-year-old Blue Ivy and 8-month-old twins Rumi and Sir — will come along for the ride.

"They will all travel together and have a fun family adventure," the source added.

Of course, this isn't fully confirmed. A rep for Beyoncé didn't respond to People's request for comment. But if this is true, her silence isn't surprising; obviously Bey and Jay would have some epic announcement planned for something as huge as another joint tour, especially considering it would be their first time performing on a tour together since their On The Run tour in 2014.

Just last week, rumors started flying about their planned joint tour when some folks discovered a landing page within Ticketmaster U.K.'s site titled, "Beyoncé & Jay Z tickets." That page has since been deleted, but on the internet, nothing ever really dies. Screenshots have been circulating since then, with rumors ramping up to include a Beyoncé and Jay-Z collaboration album. Please let it be true. These two are too good not to combine their talents.
