Mike Fisher announced his retirement from the NHL last summer, but it's not going to last — he just announced he plans to return to the rink and play for the Nashville Predators, and his loving wife, Carrie Underwood, might just be his loudest-cheering fan right now.

Underwood has always been loudly supportive of Fisher, and this is no exception. She tweeted the news that he's ending his retirement along with some sweet words of encouragement.

"This is happening! Fish is back! So proud of you, baby! We want the cup!!!" she wrote, referring to the Stanley Cup that the Predators lost in the finals last year against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In a press conference on Wednesday, Fisher credited Underwood and her support for being a big part of why he made the decision to come out of retirement and play another season.

"Carrie, she kept asking me almost every day what I was going to do," he said. "She wanted me to do it. She's usually right."

How cute is that?

Plus, this means we'll get to see Underwood rocking her Predators jersey rink-side again. Hopefully, it also means she'll being singing the national anthem at some games again because she absolutely crushes it every time she does. Seriously, this family is too sweet with how they all love and support each other like this, taking such an active part in each other's careers.

This Product Is Going to Revolutionize the Way We Take Pregnancy Tests

There's a new product coming to the market that aims to revolutionize the way women test for pregnancy. Called Lia, it's the first FDA-cleared flushable and biodegradable pregnancy test. Lia's founder, Bethany Edwards, won The Pitch contest at SheKnows Media's BlogHer18 Health conference in New York on Wednesday, Jan. 31.

The Pitch is a competition held during every BlogHer conference that aims to celebrate and elevate female entrepreneurs. It works a bit like an all-woman Shark Tank. Three women each have two minutes to pitch their business idea to the audience and a panel of judges. The judges ask each contestant some hard-hitting questions (which Edwards answered brilliantly) and then the audience votes to choose the winner. This year, Edwards won, taking home a grand prize of $50,000 provided by SheKnows Media.

More: Jillian Michaels on #MeToo, Adoption & Hopes of Training Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The event was hosted by Camila Alves, who shared the lessons she learned while founding her own business, Yummy Spoonfuls, an organic baby food company. Edwards joined Alves onstage to pitch Lia and explained how important it is for women to have a pregnancy test option that's flushable, as it adds a level of privacy to the experience.

"Ninety-two percent of women value privacy when taking a pregnancy test," said Edwards. “After speaking with hundreds of women, we heard stories ranging from being excited to being upset, and for people who are trying to get pregnant and are struggling, seeing those pregnancy tests pile up in the trash can is a stark reminder of your struggle to get pregnant, so we really felt that this was important for us to intervene and bring a new product into this market.”

Edwards developed Lia while attending the University of Pennsylvania. "This was part of my research while I was at the University of Pennsylvania getting my master’s degree in product design... One of the things we really wanted to focus on was making sure that our packaging was subtle and reminiscent of a greeting card and that our pouches are nondescript. They’re unbranded; they’re ultra-thin; and we can ship this to you in an envelope.”

More: Camila Alves on How She Started Her Organic Baby Food Company

The disposable and flushable pregnancy tests are good news for the environment too. Edwards told the audience plastic pregnancy tests "are bulky. They're expensive, and they add 2 million pounds of plastic waste to landfills every year." Unlike plastic pregnancy tests that can take hundreds of years to decompose, Lia tests decompose in soil after just two months.

If you're wondering if these revolutionary new tests come with a hefty price tag, it turns out they're pretty comparable to traditional versions. The price “is anywhere from $13.99 to $15 for two,” said Edwards. Lia tests will only available for purchase online at first, but Edwards said it's a goal to stock them in drugstores one day — something The Pitch cash prize may help accomplish. You can sign up here to be the first to know when Lia is available online.

In a world where women are forced to constantly fight for privacy and autonomy for their own bodies, now seems like the perfect time to help bolster a product that helps provide and protect just that.

Jamie Dornan & Dakota Johnson Have An Intimate 'Brother-Sister' Relationship

Well this is awkward. Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have starred in three Fifty Shades movies together, which means three movies worth of some very kinky sex scenes. Yet the way Dornan describes their relationship? He likens them to siblings. Hoo boy. You might have wanted to think more about that before it came out of your mouth, bud.

More: Anastasia Steele Finds Her Strength in the Final Fifty Shades Freed Trailer

At least Dornan seems to recognize how weird that is. He dropped that little bit of info during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and he nervously laughed as he dished, "This is going to sound bad, but it's almost like brother-sister."

The audience nervously laughed at that point, too, as Dornan continued, "Because I am married and [Dakota's] had quite a lot of relationships in the time that we've known each other, so that's happening in our own lives. You just sort of have this mutual love and respect for each other. I feel we know each other so well—intimately."

Yeah, that's an understatement. You can't spend that much time naked with someone and not be close, I guess. But speaking of all that time they spend naked together, Dornan also shared how he keeps those sex scenes from getting too intimate: He wears a "wee-bag."

As the audience awkwardly laughed again, he clarified, "Well, that's an expression from where I'm from—a wee-bag. But it doesn't mean it's actually wee in size," he says. "I wear quite a big bag!"

More: Fifty Shades of Grey's Jamie Dornan Wouldn't Be Friends with Christian Grey

He also shared that he got to pick out his "wee-bag" from a wide selection of shapes and sizes, but that the one he ultimately settled on was used. You know, just normal job stuff. Lifestyles of the rich and famous, amirite?

Arianna Huffington Is Helping Us Build a Healthier Relationship With Technology

As the founder of the Huffington Post and CEO of Thrive Global, Arianna Huffington has spent a lot of time perfecting the delicate art of achieving a work-life balance. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, Huffington attended SheKnows Media's BlogHer18 Health conference and shared some of her best tips for living a successful, fulfilling and, most important, joyful life.

More:  Chelsea Clinton, Gwyneth Paltrow & Other Women Win Voices of the Year Awards

After selling the Huffington Post in 2016, Huffington devoted her time to a new startup, Thrive Global, because she had experienced firsthand how detrimental burnout and exhaustion can be to our health. Huffington said, "I used to believe that in order to succeed, you always had to be hustling, hustling, hustling, and I ended up hitting my head on my desk, breaking my cheekbone and having this wake-up call that led to, ultimately, my leaving the Huffington Post over a year ago to launch Thrive Global in order to help people bring these small, microscopic behavioral changes into their lives that will change everything.”

It probably comes as no surprise that our cell phones are one of the biggest reasons we overwork ourselves to the point of exhaustion. ”We are becoming more and more addicted to our phones and social media, and the impact is getting worse and worse on mental health, on depression, on anxiety, and people are feeling more and more isolated from each other,” said Huffington.

Well, Thrive Global is giving people the tools they need to have a healthier relationship with technology. Thrive Global's app, Thrive, is an easy way to disconnect from your phone and reconnect to your life and the people in it. It might sound ironic that an app can help you unplug, but it makes sense. “You download the Thrive app, and you use the Thrive mode when you want to have real time to have a meal with a friend or your children, your loved one or to do deep work,” Huffington explained.

When you set your phone to Thrive mode, anyone who tries to call or text you will receive an automated response letting them know you're in Thrive mode. You won't receive any notifications until after you turn off Thrive mode and are ready to reconnect with the digital world.

Before you panic and think, "But what if there's an emergency?" don't worry, because you can create a VIP list of contacts whose notifications will still come through despite being in Thrive mode. The app also tracks how much time you spend on all your social media apps so you can check your usage and cut back if you learn you're spending an exorbitant amount of time scrolling through Instagram or Facebook. “It’s basically a way for us to have a digital coach to help us make small behavioral changes to better our lives," said Huffington.

More:  Before #MeToo, Amy Ziering Was Out There Giving Women a Voice

The key to building a healthier relationship with technology is to train yourself to develop new, healthier habits, she explained. When asked how she personally initiates a true change in behavior, Huffington said, “The keystone habit that helps you with all the other habits is sleep. It’s the most disrespected part of our lives.”

Sleep serves as a catalyst for an overall healthy lifestyle. "When you’ve got the amount of sleep you need, you don’t crave carbs and sugar as much. Your workouts are stronger. You’re more present with your whole life,” said Huffington. “When I’m sleep-deprived, I don't like myself very much. I am the worst version of myself.” #Same

If you're ready to make some healthy changes and reinvent your relationship with technology, the Thrive app is now available for Samsung devices and will be available for iOS soon.

Birth Doula Kim Kardashian West Is Reporting for Leg-Holding Duty

Kim Kardashian West: reality TV star, entrepreneur, master of the selfie, wife, mother and... doula?

In a recent interview with Access, Kardashian West revealed that she'd be taking on a new and exciting role as a childbirth assistant for her sister, Khloé Kardashian, who is pregnant with her first child.

More: Khloé Kardashian's Baby Boy Name Is Shockingly Traditional

"She was in my delivery room both times," Kardashian West told Access. "She was the leg holder, that was Khloé's responsibility. She was good at it. She was really like the doula, the coach, the everything all-in-one. I want to be that for Khloé."

Though holding down your sister’s legs as she pushes may not be the most glamorous job, it’s an important one. A study conducted for the National Center for Biotechnology Information found that women felt more comfortable and less stressed about the birthing process when they had a trusted individual providing empathetic emotional support. Just having a “familiar attendant” nearby to communicate both logistics and words of encouragement helped women feel more secure and more confident.

Kardashian West may not be a professionally trained doula, but her experience as a mother and as a sister is likely to help calm Kardashian’s nerves on what will likely be one of the most exciting — and scary — days of her life. But Kardashian West isn’t the only one who will be nearby for the delivery; Kardashian West said her whole family would be present in Cleveland, Ohio, for Kardashian's delivery. And as of now, there’s no word yet on whether they’ll choose to invite the entire Keeping Up with the Kardashians film crew too.

And Kardashian West also isn't the only member of the family sharing her mom wisdom with Kardashian. During a recent interview on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Kimmel, Kardashian confided that sister Kourtney Kardashian, also a parent, has been very vocal about the do's and don'ts of motherhood — with a massive emphasis on the don’ts. What’s on Kourtney's list of no-nos? Putting a TV in the nursery and allowing children to play with plastic toys. As for whether she’ll follow her sister’s guidance, Khloé Kardashian laughed and said, “Thanks, but no thanks.”

Like many new mothers, Khloé Kardashian’s been getting a lot of unwarranted advice lately as fans criticize her workout regimens and pick apart her photos from the past. We hope she's mostly shrugging it off and reminding herself that sometimes mother (that's you now, Khloé) really does know best.

Va Phillippe is following in her parents’ Hollywood footsteps, but not in the way you might think. The 18-year-old daughter of Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe recently made her modeling debut, and she looks stunning.

Along with big-name stars such as Rowan Blanchard and Kirsten Dunst, Ava lent her face to Rodarte’s Fall/Winter 2018 Portrait Series. The teenager appeared in two photos for the fashion house. One look featured her in a flowy pale pink gown with giant red flowers on her wrist and waistline. The other look featured Ava in a tiered skirt with sunflowers on her wrists and an umbrella made out of leaves in her hands.

"thank you to the one and only @rodarte (@kateandlauramulleavy) for this incredible opportunity to play dress up and support the creativity of women!” Ava wrote on Instagram.

Reese Witherspoon and her daughter, Ava Phillippe, have always had a special bond. Aside from looking nearly identical, the two women have a shared passion for fashion, and they steadfastly support each other's ambitions — such as Phillippe's debutante ball and Witherspoon's venture into the business world. Now, the darling duo is showing off their constant twinning in an official photo shoot for Witherspoon's clothing and home decor brand, Draper James.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, both women are total naturals in front of the camera, though they often play very different roles. While Witherspoon continues to act and produce, Phillippe is on her way to becoming a breakout modeling star. According to Harper's Bazaar, the fashionista is the newest addition to the Rodarte team.

The mother-daughter photos, taken to support the Draper James Spring 2018 collection, feature bold pinks and reds in Witherspoon's/Draper James' signature preppy style with playful lace patterns and quirky prints like hearts and arrows. The line is, of course, just in time for Valentine's Day — and what better way to celebrate love than by gushing about your kid?

"From the time she could speak, Ava has always had her own ideas, and I love to watch her express herself," Witherspoon said on Draper James' blog, Love, Reese. "She also cares deeply about her family and the world around her. She frequently educates me on news stories and issues young women are facing."

Witherspoon has been a staunch advocate for #TimesUp, the movement that calls for an end to injustices such as pay inequality, sexism and harassment. In addition to helping organize the all-black sartorial statement at the Golden Globes, Witherspoon has been vocal about her own experiences with sexual harassment and assault and is determined to make all working environments safer for women like her daughter. One of the ways she’s doing this is by demonstrating that women can indeed create, run, build and slay successful businesses — a message that’s not lost on Phillippe.

“I love being around my mom, and this shoot was an opportunity to have fun and support her work as a female entrepreneur,” Phillippe told Love, Reese. “She also brings a lot of comfort and positive energy with her to work, and I think it’s inspiring to see her personal relationships with everybody on set.”

Could Phillippe run her own business one day? Obv, especially since her mother and countless others are paving the way for women to (finally) rise to the top.

Why Seeing a Sex Worker Can Be Good for Your Relationship

$
0
0

Congratulations! By deciding to see a sex worker with your partner, you've already taken the very first step when it comes to improving your relationship. (I'll get back to that point in a moment.) Before I can explain why a visit to a sex worker as a couple can be good for your relationship, allow me to put your mind at ease.

First of all, no, I’m not going to steal your husband. In fact, I want to make what the two of you have become even better. And no, I’m not going to violate your consent. As a professional, I’m not going to pressure either one of you into activities that make you uncomfortable. You set the boundaries and describe what you've always wanted to explore, and I create an experience from there. With that out of the way, let's focus on what’s really important: how seeing a sex worker can be beneficial to your relationship.

1. You're looking to add some sizzle between the sheets

After many years of marriage, it’s only natural to want to explore something new. Variety is, after all, the spice of life. Sometimes this is his idea, other times it's hers. Whichever the case, it's a very normal and common thought to have.

By choosing to experience a professional threesome, you're able to dictate what that encounter looks like — not to mention that you're getting the benefit of a true professional's expertise. For example, most couples aren't familiar with safe sex practices for threesomes. This is where my professional experience comes in. We all get to have safe, legal fun together without any of the STI concerns of a threesome in other circumstances.

More: A Legal Sex Worker on What It's Really Like to Work in a Brothel

Variety can help couples learn more about their partner's sexuality. Maybe you find a new kissable spot on his neck, or perhaps he learns exactly how you like foreplay. You're setting the stage to learn more about your partner and allowing them to learn more about you too.

2. You’re bisexual & interested in being with a woman

Sexuality is something I always encourage couples to be open and honest about. If you have a desire that your husband isn't able to meet by virtue of his sex, setting up a date with a legal sex worker is a great option. You both get to participate and explore those desires. Sometimes your husband just watches; other times he joins in. Simply communicate what your comfort levels are.

Sex workers aren't just for men, ladies; we're here for you too. When your subtle desires go unmet, they begin to weigh on your relationship, and as time progresses, that weight will only get heavier. Rather than allow your bisexual desires to hinder your relationship, instead use them to fuel an incredible experience you can share with your partner.

3. You want to see him with another woman

This fantasy is much more common than you think. In fact, 30 percent of the couples I see are seeking this particular experience. You aren't alone in your desire to see him with another woman. You also aren't alone in your concerns about the other woman. Rather than putting your trust in a stranger, put your trust in an expert.

This can benefit your relationship in a number of ways. You're getting to fulfill a fantasy for both of you at the same time. He, like most men, has probably fantasized about being with two women at some point in his life. You want to see him with a second female, but you still want to set the ground rules. Having a mutually pleasurable experience can give inspiration for future sexual encounters and create a starting point for dialogue about your sex life. Plus, you'll both leave with fantastic memories you can look back on together. Shared experiences are a proven way to bring couples closer together.

MoreSexual Health in Your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s & Beyond

4. You learn how to talk about sex

I strongly believe that the foundation of any strong relationship is built with communication. This includes your sexual prowess. If you've never asked your husband how he likes his oral sex, you're missing out on a huge facet of your relationship.

But starting the conversation is hard. Where do you even begin? My job is to help you both find the language you need to talk about sex to each other. All encounters begin with a conversation — one that both partners get to be involved in. We will chat openly about your fantasies, about your sexual desires, about how you liked to be touched and so on.

Once you've built those basic language skills with me, you get to take them home with you. And once you've started the dialogue, it's easy to keep the conversation going. A great piece of advice I always give my couples is to set aside a night once a month when you purposefully practice your sexual vocabulary by having a conversation with your partner during a sexual encounter. Many female clients have reached out later to tell me their sex lives have never been so good.

5. You want to improve your sex skills

Have you ever faked an orgasm? Eighty percent of you just nodded your head. What if I told you that you'll never have to fake an orgasm again? Wouldn't it be great to have your partner know exactly what turns you on and precisely how you like to be touched?

MoreWhy the Brain Is Our Most Important Sex Organ

Consider that my gift to you. I'll teach him the sex skills he needs to get you off so you don't have to. Most men simply have no idea how the female body works, much less how the female orgasm works. Much of my role in society is to fill the sexual education gap that exists in this country. I have the privilege of teaching sex skills in an incredibly erotic and fun way.

This works in reverse too. Have you always been curious about how to perfect your oral sex techniques or wondering which positions feel the best for him? Consider my bedroom to be your classroom. Let's learn together.

Sex workers like myself have incredible skill sets that are both needed and desired by society. Much as visiting a dentist is good for your oral health, visiting a sex worker with your partner is good for your sexual health. Society has stigmatized sex to the detriment of us all. Fight back against that stigma by exploring, improving and working on your relationship in a sexy, fun way.

Jim Carrey's Wrongful Death Lawsuit Has Been Dismissed

Updated Feb. 1, 2018, 7 a.m. PT: A wrongful death lawsuit filed against Jim Carrey that was set to go to court this year has been dismissed, E! News reports. Brigid Sweetman, mother of Carrey's late ex-girlfriend, Cathriona White, filed the suit after White's death by suicide in 2015, accusing Carey of illegally obtaining the drugs that White used before her overdose and subsequent death.

"The case and all claims against Jim Carrey have been dismissed," Carrey's publicist told reporters. "He is extremely grateful to everyone in his life who supported him throughout this challenging episode."

Despite her case being dismissed, Sweetman released a statement that was positive overall.

"Mr. Burton and Ms. Sweetman are pleased the case has been resolved," her statement, released by her lawyer, reads. "They appreciate the support they have received worldwide."

The case had a set court date in April, and the trial was expected to last around four weeks. Carrey had filed a countersuit against Sweetman for extortion, calling her wrongful death suit a "shameful shakedown for money." The outcome of that suit is still pending.

Original story:

E! News reported today that actor and comedian Jim Carrey could face trial next year over the death of his ex-girlfriend Cathriona White. She was found dead in her Los Angeles home in September 2015, and the cause of her death was later determined to be suicide from an overdose. Carrey was sued by White’s mother, Brigid Sweetman, in October 2016. The wrongful death case is still up for deliberation.

Sweetman claims that Carrey provided White with the drugs that killed her and “intimidated and threatened her in an effort to silence her,” according to E!. Carrey and his lawyers have responded by seeking to strike all allegations against him, as they are “irrelevant, false and improper.” He calls the suit a “shameful shakedown for money.”

On Wednesday, however, according to E! News, Judge Deirdre Hill of the Los Angeles Superior Court explained that she needs more time to consider everything in the case. She indicated that she would not throw out the case, despite requests from Carrey and his lawyers. Hill has set a trial date for April 2018, saying the case could take up to 20 days.

We Don't Need a Charmed Reboot – Here's Why

$
0
0
If you haven't heard the news, on Jan. 25 it was announced that the highly-talked about Charmed reboot scored a pilot order at The CW.

According to TVLine, this particular reboot will be set in present day. Apparently, this version will be "a fierce, funny, feminist reboot" and will focus on "three sisters in a college town who discover they are witches. Between vanquishing supernatural demons, tearing down the patriarchy and maintaining familial bonds, a witch’s work is never done."

As exciting as it sounds, especially since it's making more great roles for women, we don't need a Charmed reboot. Even original Charmed star Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell, is upset at the idea.
Initially, she tweeted, "We wish them well." However, she then took to Twitter on Jan 26. expressing her disgust over the new project. "Here’s the thing," Combs tweeted. "Until you ask us to rewrite it like Brad Kern did weekly don’t even think of capitalizing on our hard work. Charmed belongs to the 4 of us, our vast amount of writers, crews and predominantly the fans. FYI you will not fool them by owning a title/stamp. So bye."
Holly Marie Combs

Holly Marie Combs

As for Shannen Doherty, who played Prue Halliwell and was killed off at the end of Season 3, she shared some interesting thoughts on Twitter on Jan. 27, including, "Everything is a remake or a reboot. Every show, every movie in some way. Charmed was a wonderful empowering show for women." She later tweeted, "So curious... if it was not a reboot and just was a show about sisters and family dynamics with super natural powers.... thoughts?"

When it comes to a beloved series like Charmed that aired for eight seasons, there will understandably be mixed reviews. But, it seems like there are many fans who aren't backing the reboot, including me. Let's discuss why a Charmed reboot shouldn't happen.

1. There's no need to mess with perfection

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

Let's face it: Charmed is pretty much perfect as is. When something is that good, why try to recreate it? It's hard to improve upon something that was such a success the first time around. Granted, this reboot seems to be finding inspiration from the original and hopefully not trying to copy it exactly, but sometimes it's best to leave well enough alone.

2. It could tarnish what Charmed what fans already know and love

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

The reboot and original will forever be connected. When watching the reboot, most viewers will most likely be comparing the new with the old. If the reboot turns out to be really bad, it could end up tarnishing what fans already know and love. Not to mention, the reboot could possibly even do a disservice to the original by delivering poor story lines and not following through with its overall promise: "a fierce, funny, feminist reboot."

3. Fans don't want it

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

There are some passionate fans who don't want anything to do with the reboot. As one person tweeted, "Wtf do they mean by 'feminist' reboot? The original #Charmed is already one of the most feminist shows ever. They're trying to tarnish its legacy and reputation just to make an excuse for this cash-grab." Another individual wrote, "Hearing all the news from across the pond about a charmed reboot. Nope you can't re do that show it was/is amazing. Don't ruin it." Enough said.

4. A "feminist" twist? Huh?

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

The description of the so-called reboot says it will be "a fierce, funny, feminist reboot". Um, what's that now? This doesn't sound like it was worded correctly or maybe we're all misreading it. Whatever the case, it sounds like this reboot is saying the original wasn't "fierce" or "funny" or "feminist'. That's exactly what Charmed was and why fans loved it so much. Piper, Phoebe, Paige and Prue embodied all three of those characteristics.

5. You can't substitute the original cast

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie Combs, Rose McGowan and Shannen Doherty will forever be the original Halliwell sisters. It's unclear if the three sisters in the reboot will share the same last name, but, if so, they have a lot to live up to — and it won't be easy.

6. It's basically a remake

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

Isn't a reboot supposed to have something to do with the original cast in some way? Also, this sounds more like a remake, which is another issue. When there is a successful, beloved TV or movie remakes aren't needed. You just can't remake greatness. Maybe if this newer version was instead "inspired by Charmed" there wouldn't be as many in an uproar.

7. There are already too many reboots and revivals

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

In a world of reboots, why do we need another one? Seriously, why is this a trend and when is it going to stop? From Roseanne to Murphy Brown to Will & Grace to Magnum P.I. to Party of Five to Roswell to now Charmed? The madness needs to end.

8. It's just too soon

Why we don't need a Charmed reboot

Charmed only came to an unfortunate end in 2006. It's only been a little over 12 years. If you think about it, it hasn't been that long since fans had to say goodbye to the Power of Three. It's like ripping a band aid off way too quickly and pouring salt in the wound. Plus, Charmed is obviously a classic and will become even more of one in another 20 years or so. Classics are not to be tampered with.

As wonderful as it is that the reboot is creating more roles for women and is written by women, there will be one and only Charmed and that's the one that began in 1998.

The Super Bowl: an American tradition when we all gather round the TV, cheer on our favorite football team, pig out on hors d'oeuvres and bask in the glory of Super Bowl commercials. For some, the commercials are even more exciting than the game because advertisers who manage to snag a highly coveted spot during the event go all out to create prestige ads. In fact, I'd argue that seeing what companies come up with is part of the fun and excitement of the Super Bowl. So, considering just how much fun Super Bowl commercials really are, why wait until the Super Bowl when you can watch many of them now?

Blessedly, commercials for Super Bowl LII have been trickling onto the internet lately for our viewing pleasure. One by one, ahead of the big game, we have been treated to some of the most unusual, amusing and celeb-filled commercials currently made for TV. And it should be noted it also looks like we’re in for a really weird, emotional ride.

Although NBC’s reported price tag for a 30-second spot averages more than $5 million according to Sports Illustrated, companies and advertisers ranging from Budweiser to Skittles were clearly more than happy to pay up. What they came up with this year is really and truly next-level.

Without further ado, here are all the Super Bowl commercials that have been released so far.

The people he speaks of are employees from Budweiser’s brewery in Georgia, where they not only make beer, but also produce water under the company’s emergency water program. In addition to raising awareness, the commercial aims to raise money for the American Red Cross — where a portion of proceeds from Grey’s single will be donated.

What It’s Really Like to Have a Skin Condition in the Age of Instagram

Don’t let the haters tell you different: Self-love is a radical act, especially in the social media age, when it seems everything has been filtered and edited beyond recognition. And the stakes are even higher when you’re battling a debilitating skin or health condition and you bravely choose to share that journey with complete strangers.

Social media influencers Jordan YoungerMercedes MatzNitika Chopra, and Charreah Jackson know this all too well. While speaking on the #LifeUnfiltered panel at the BlogHer18 Health conference in New York City, each woman (including Jackson, moderator and cancer survivor) opened up about living with a unique health condition and the impact it ultimately had on her personal journey. Collaboration and sharing are often the benchmarks of a successful online venture, but as it turns out, they’re also an integral part of personal development too. In short, speaking up is never a bad thing.

For instance, 23-year-old Matz admitted to letting her lifelong struggle with eczema keep her from sharing her true self, both online and with friends. It wasn’t until joining Dove’s recent Make Peace with Dry Skin campaign, where she fronts the brand’s new DermaSeries collection, that she was able to get fully real about learning to love her skin.

“I honestly hated the way I looked for so long,” she said. “[Dove] gave me the safe space to share my story…. Talking about it became very therapeutic for me. I think visibility is something that’s very important because I felt alone for so long, and seeing women go through the same thing as me… it really helped.”

“Self-love is being more committed to your happiness than to your suffering in every single moment,” said Chopra of her aha moment. And while these ladies experienced a “coming-out” of sorts about their struggles, Younger found herself doing the same thing, but only after creating a hugely successful business that ultimately led to orthorexia, an eating disorder best described as an obsession with eating foods that are healthy.

Once known as The Blonde Vegan, Younger shared that although everything looked great to her blog readers and social media followers, she was actually “spiraling into this obsession with juice cleansing” and not fueling herself properly.

Eventually, things got so bad that she decided to walk away from her brand and create a new one — The Balanced Blonde — that was more in line with her healthier way of living. “It’s so important to listen to our bodies and to heal ourselves from the inside out,” she said.

Max Gail will debut in the recast role on General Hospital as Sonny Corinthos' (Maurice Benard) estranged father Mike Corbin on February 5. Soaps.com readers will likely recognize the actor for his role on Barney Miller where he played Detective Stan 'Wojo' Wojciehowicz from 1975 until 1982. TVLine reports that the role will be part of a major storyline arc. The part was previously played by Ron Hale from 1995 until 2010.

Mike Corbin abandoned Sonny as a child, for which Sonny resented him for years. He had no contact with his father until he was an adult and Mike returned to Port Charles. Luke Spencer hired Mike to work at his blues club, not knowing he was Sonny's long lost father. Sonny later learned he had a half-sister Courtney, who was told by her mother that her father had died. The truth was her mother kicked him out for gambling all their money away. Mike later took a job as manager at Kelly's and tried to reconnect with his children, but continued to have trouble with gambling. Sonny often found himself paying off his father's debts and bailing him out of trouble. After a run-in with the Russian mob nearly left him dead, Mike left Port Charles in 2010 to check into rehab for his gambling addiction. General Hospital spoilers indicate that Sonny will receive an emotional call by the end of the week which brings up the past, and that a family matter will shake up the extended Corinthos family.

Is Smoking Weed in Front of Your Kids Ever OK?

$

Did you read the title of this article and have a strong yes or no gut reaction? You might be surprised to find out that opinions from parents and medical experts alike on whether it’s OK to smoke pot in front of your kids actually vary quite a bit.

“Whether it’s alcohol or cannabis,” says Jane West, a Denver-based mom and cannabis activist, “it’s all about having honest conversations with your kids, modeling good behavior and helping them develop the self-confidence and common sense to make responsible decisions.”

We live in an ever-changing landscape when it comes to weed. Over the past decade and a half, we’ve seen a steady rise in marijuana use in America, and at the same time, we’ve seen a steady decline in the perceived risks. We’re also learning more about the therapeutic value and effectiveness of marijuana for the treatment of chronic pain, insomnia, nausea, anxiety and more. More than half of U.S. states have gone green, legalizing marijuana in some form: either medically or also recreationally. And policy advocates are pushing for new laws in more states in 2018. But with these greener pastures come some grayer areas — such as whether it’s OK to do a little puff-puff-pass in front of the kids every now and then. After all, most of us don’t think twice about letting children witness us enjoying a craft beer or glass of rosé. To get a sense of the bigger picture here, we turned to parents, health professionals, weed advocates and adult kids raised in pot-positive homes.

More:  Pregnant Women Are Using More Marijuana — Is That a Bad Thing?

Is it safe to smoke up in front of my kids?

Let’s get one thing out of the way: Smoking anything in front of your kids probably isn’t a good idea. We’re all familiar with the health risks of secondhand tobacco smoke. Although research is still out on the exact effects, studies do show that marijuana smoke has similar chemical compounds to tobacco smoke, just in different amounts. Exposure to secondhand marijuana smoke could lead to respiratory issues. You also risk giving kids a contact high, which could result in an increased heart rate, feelings of sleepiness and impaired motor and memory skills.

But nowadays, cannabis comes in many forms. The old “I didn’t inhale” jokes take on new meaning. “There are cannabis-infused wines, coffee and, of course, various edibles,” says Dr. Junella Chin, a physician specializing in integrative cannabis medicine. “This allows parents to use more discreetly. When using a vape, joint or pipe form,” she adds, “the conversation of smoking and the health effects of that should be addressed with children.”

Of course, secondhand smoke isn’t the only safety concern we need to tackle here. Marijuana is, after all, a mind-altering substance just like alcohol, and people have different reactions to it. “I think most people can remember an experience where a person was drunk and belligerent,” says Lynn Zakeri, a Chicago-based clinical therapist. “While this may not happen in an aggressive way with marijuana, it can cause anxiety, paranoia and adrenaline-like symptoms that mirror clinical symptoms.”

If you’re choosing to use in front of your child, make sure you know how you’ll react and know your tolerance. That awareness can be a little trickier with pot than it is with pinot. If you don’t have access to a reputable cannabis supplier — in a state with laws in place for testing and package-labeling — you could be playing a guessing game. Also, as Racine Henry, a New York City-based marriage and family therapist, points out, “Taking care of your kids while high may seem harmless, but the danger of weed is unless you grow it yourself, you don’t know what it could be laced with.”

Could someone call Child Protective Services?

A big question many pro-pot parents have on this topic is whether they'll get in trouble for using marijuana with their kids present. The answer is an unhelpful maybe, and it's even unclear in states where weed use is on the up-and-up. But the reality is that a well-meaning (or busybody) neighbor — or a mandated reporter such as a teacher — could easily call Child Protective Services on you and a representative could pop in for a welfare check on your child. There’s no way to ensure you won’t have an issue like this, but you can take precautions.

“I don’t consume in front of my children, and I keep all cannabis out of sight and out of reach,” says West, who is CEO of her cannabis lifestyle brand. “But I believe that parents should be able to make such choices for themselves and their families without the fear of losing custody of their children and other drastic repercussions.”

How does weed impact your parenting?

Some argue that cannabis use, like many other substances, is a way for parents to numb out — and that's not necessarily the healthiest way to parent. Zakeri gives the example of “the dad who checks out after work to smoke and is only half-present during family interactions.”

But West argues that her personal pot use actually makes her a better parent. “When my busy workday is over and the kids are asleep,” she says, “I’d rather turn to cannabis to unwind than far more dangerous substances like alcohol or pharmaceuticals. By opting for legal, recreational cannabis, I am a happier and healthier woman, and that allows me to be the best parent possible.”

More:  Is Nitrous Oxide Even Still a Thing, & Should Parents Be Worried?

What are we teaching our kids?

If you are a marijuana-using parent, think about why, when and how you use — and what you want to teach your kids about cannabis. If you’re using pot every night to blunt (no pun intended) your feelings, for example, that’s different than occasionally taking the edge off. Daily or habitual use — without a medical diagnosis, that is — can work to normalize and possibly encourage the use of recreational substances as coping mechanisms. “I think it is important to understand what, as a parent, you are supporting,” Zakeri says. “I would rather my child make his own decision to use mood- and mind-altering substances without using my example as a reason to use.”

On the other hand, a pro-cannabis household could have its benefits. Mitchell Colbert’s parents openly used in front of him when he was young and even grew marijuana in their backyard. He saw no harm in trying it as a teen despite all the warnings that came along with a D.A.R.E. curriculum. “I saw my parents using it without any negative effects,” he says. “It seemed in many ways much less harmful than alcohol.” Colbert is now the communications head and senior consultant at Pistil + Stigma, a women-led boutique cannabis consultancy focused on government compliance issues. He credits pot for his diverse group of friends, keeping him open-minded, and even boosting his creativity. Eventually, he recognized that weed had merits beyond getting high. “Cannabis helped me control my feelings of depression without needing to take pills,” he explains. “My depression is largely managed these days.”

What about medical marijuana?

Estimates show that more than 2 million people now use cannabis therapeutically in states that have legalized medical marijuana. So if you’ve got chronic pain, cancer or other health issues, you may have very different reasons for using cannabis in front of your kid than the next person. In fact, maybe it’s the only way you can get through the day.

“Cannabis is the only anti-nausea medicine that increases appetite,” says Chin, who prescribes cannabis to patients as an alternative. “It helps patients sleep and elevates their mood, which is not easy when someone is facing a chronic and life-threatening illness. I could write six different prescriptions, which may or may not interact with each other, or we could just recommend trying [this] one medication first.”

About half of Chin’s patients are children with intractable epilepsy, cancer or chronic pain, so talking to her own kids about why she prescribes cannabis is important to her. “I explain that healthy kids are not coming to me for help with cannabis,” she says. “In most healthy children, their endocannabinoid system is functioning normally. I explain that by adding cannabis to their normally functioning endocannabinoid system, it may actually interfere with their developing brains.”

What if your chronically ill child needs medical marijuana? Should you use cannabis too in solidarity? That’s a personal choice, but there could be a benefit. “I do think when parents use it recreationally in front of their kids,” Chin says, “it helps decrease stigma.”

More:  Should You Smoke Pot With Your Teen?

So what’s the verdict?

Whether you have an edible now and then, vape for pain or completely abstain, how you handle the pot issue with your kids is really up to you. If you use marijuana, do so responsibly, and don’t forget to have a conversation with your littles. “Using cannabis in front of your children is a parenting choice,” Chin says, “and educating kids and speaking openly about it is crucial — just like you would about alcohol and tobacco."

Julianne Hough Opens Up About How One Diagnosis Changed Her Life

Julianne Hough was 18 when she first heard the word "endometriosis." She had just moved into a new apartment in Los Angeles, and her roommate, hunched over in pain in the bathroom, explained it to her.

“I was like, ‘Endo, what? Endometri, who?’” Hough tells StyleCaster at the BlogHer18 Health conference, where she was a keynote speaker, in New York City on Wednesday, Jan. 31. “This is a terrible thing to say, but as an 18-year-old, I was like, ‘She’s just dramatic. I have those same things. That’s just you having your period.’”

Julianne Hough Opens Up About Endometriosis | SheKnows

Though Hough had been experiencing symptoms of endometriosis — a condition in which the tissue that typically lines the uterus grows outside it — since she started puberty, she wasn’t ready to seek a diagnosis yet, afraid of how it might hurt her career. So she chalked the pain up to menstrual cramps and hoped it would go away.

“I was like, ‘Ugh. I don’t have time. I don’t want to have some disease. I just need to move on with my life,’” Hough says. “You think that it’s going to hinder you, that it’s going to be your identity. As a woman too, in the industry, I was like, ‘Well, I can’t complain about it. I have to be a tough cookie. I’m not going to be that person. I’m not going to be that girl.’”

A year later, Hough found her big break as a professional dancer on Dancing with the Stars, but her symptoms didn’t stop. Still, she wasn’t ready to seek a diagnosis, so she forced a smile and danced through the pain. “It’s like, ‘Yay! Put on a smiley face. Everything is perfect. Everything is great,’” Hough says. “There’s only so long that you can keep that up. You get exhausted. I was so tired of trying to be Miss Perfect and pretending everything was fine.”

It wasn’t until two seasons in that Hough experienced a major painful episode while dancing and finally went to see a doctor. After three days of testing and exams, Hough was officially diagnosed with endometriosis.

“I was 20 years old when this happened. I was like, ‘Holy cow! Wait, what?’” Hough says. “At first, it was scary. I was like, ‘Who am I? I have endometriosis? What does that even mean?’ I had so many questions. ‘Is this going to hurt my career? Maybe I can just keep it secret.’”

Soon after, Hough underwent surgery to remove her appendix and ease her stomach pain. She made headlines for coming out with her diagnosis, but it wasn’t until years later she felt fully comfortable sharing her story.

“I was quiet about it for a few years,” Hough says. “Then I realized that by me talking about this, it’s not going to heal me, and it’s not for me to talk about, it’s for others. By me having endometriosis, this doesn’t hinder me at all. This gives me power because I can have a voice to help other women have a voice, and once they have a voice, they can help others. Vulnerability gives you strength. You help yourself when you help others.”

Still, Hough’s battle with endometriosis and its effects is ongoing. Hough has dreamed of becoming a mom since she was 5 years old, and though endometriosis doesn’t preclude the possibility of natural childbirth, Hough acknowledges there are other options for motherhood.

“I’ve wanted to be a mom since as early as I can remember. I just have this ‘I can’t wait to be that person’ feeling,” Hough says. “What I’ve realized is that I can be a mother… I can be a nurturer. I can be a giver and help raise people. I can also adopt. I can do all those different things. There are so many options for me to be a mom.”

Having a family is a topic Hough has addressed more since marrying her husband, NHL player Brooks Laich, in July. “My husband and I were both like, ‘We want to wait a few more years.’ Because we have a lot of stuff to do personally, and we want to be together for a few more years before we bring a life into this world. But it’s definitely more of a conversation than ‘Oh, yeah! We’ll get pregnant. Whatever!’”

Though learning that she may not be able to carry her own children was hard to hear, Hough is thankful the news might have saved her from heartbreak over potential miscarriages had she not known.

“Knowledge is power,” Hough says. “The more you know, the more you can do things to either help or prevent, and the earlier you can catch it, the better. I’ve learned things through having endometriosis that maybe I never would’ve found out if I was trying to have kid. It could’ve been really difficult for me with having miscarriages. Now I have knowledge, and now I can actually prepare and hopefully not be let down when otherwise I could’ve been very badly.”

Julianne Hough Opens Up About Endometriosis | SheKnows

Hough’s new perspective on her condition is why she partnered with #SpeakEndo, a campaign encouraging women to learn more about endometriosis. For Hough, ignorance isn’t bliss, and education is key for health and happiness.

“It’s all about education. People don’t know what they don’t know,” Hough says. “It’s not about being like, ‘We don’t have a voice!’ It’s not about fighting. It’s about educating. It’s not about being a victim. It’s about being a victor.”

This Grey's Anatomy Character Might Leave After Having a Complete Meltdown

It's hard to believe, but there's a chance that Grey's Anatomy might sucker punch us all and take one of its veteran characters off of the show. Now, it's easy to understand why this would happen in the sense that killing off some of our most beloved characters when we're least expecting it is a thing that Grey's is prone to doing. But, at the same time, does it have to happen again? Do Grey's fans have to spend the rest of 2018 consoling themselves over the loss of a beloved, long-running character?

More: Guess Who's Returning to Grey's Anatomy in the Spring

While nothing has been confirmed, it certainly feels like Grey's is preparing us for the worst when it comes to Miranda Bailey. On Thursday night's episode "(Don't Fear) the Reaper," Bailey admitted herself to the hospital in a stunning clip where she revealed that she was having a heart attack. The clip that was released before the full episode aired showed the tense moment when Bailey checked in, delivering a very stunning admission: "My name is Miranda Bailey. I am Chief of Surgery at Grey Sloane Memorial. And I believe I am having a heart attack."

Grey's Anatomy Bailey Heart Attack Clip

Grey's Anatomy Bailey Heart Attack Clip

The clip only serves as the starting point for Bailey's complete meltdown on Grey's, which comes very rapidly and very dramatically despite her best efforts to convince her colleagues that she is totally fine. This heart attack, which could be seen as the result of Bailey's built-up stress from her work and her personal life, might be the thing that gets Bailey written off the show for good.

More: 10 Struggles Every Grey's Anatomy Fan Knows to Be Real

Chandra Wilson, the actor who plays Bailey, opened up to Entertainment Weekly just a day before the episode aired about Bailey's future on the show. While it appears Wilson was teasing Bailey's future, it feels like the writing is well and truly on the wall.

"Let’s say Bailey has been stressed. Is Bailey leaving? I think this is the right thing to say: Bailey’s been stressed and needs to take care of herself," Wilson revealed. Now, the notion of self-care and finding the time to recuperate could point to, at the very least, a long sabbatical for Bailey and her subsequent writing off for a while; that would be the best case scenario. Bailey is a veteran of the show and one of our favorite characters. It's just not her time to go in any way.

More: Ellen Pompeo's New Contract Means Big Things for Grey's Anatomy

That said, there may be a silver lining to Bailey's possible Grey's exit: she could always pop up on the Grey's spinoff, Station 19. The show is set to include her husband, Dr. Ben Warren, who is currently going through a career switch from medicine to firefighting. So even if we lose Bailey in one way or another because of this awful heart attack plotline, we can still hold out hope to see her in the future. Keep those fingers crossed!

Mental illness is slowly but surely coming out of the shadows. With celebrities like Demi LovatoKristen Bell and Emma Stone opening up about their own struggles and with social media providing platforms for anyone who wants to discuss their own experience, we're gradually chipping away the stigma surrounding mental illness.

Now, a new partnership between Be Vocal: Speak Up For Mental Health and Getty Images aims to facilitate a further shift in how we view and talk about mental illness by providing photos and language tools to add to the conversation.

Be Vocal Speak up

Currently, if you do a search for images of people with mental health conditions, chances are what you'll find isn't great. The photos feature disparaging imagery with little diversity. The Be Vocal Collection is trying to change that by offering photos showcasing 10 people living with different conditions, all taken by photographer Shaul Schwarz, all of which are free to download and share on social media or for journalists to run alongside articles.

The 10 individuals featured in the Be Vocal Collection include an orchestra conductor, a Marine Corps veteran, a three-time Olympian and a graphic designer and painter, among others.

There is also a downloadable guide to help people to use more mindful language when discussing mental health conditions. While there is no one-size-fits-all standard, this resource reflects the general consensus when it comes to describing people and their various conditions. Specifically, the goal is to use nonjudgmental "people first language" to talk about people as individuals, rather than defining them by their diagnoses.

MoreTalking About Mental Health Is Good — Investing in Mental Health Is Better

Be Vocal Speak up

For example, instead of saying "She is a schizophrenic," you could say, "She has schizophrenia," or "She is living with schizophrenia." Or rather than saying "He is psychotic/disturbed/crazy," you could say, "He is disoriented/hallucinating/experiencing symptoms of psychosis/experiencing psychosis." At the same time, feel free to use other descriptors about a person's many other roles in life — like being a daughter, scientist or teacher — instead of focusing solely on their mental health condition.

Through small changes, we can make a significant impact on how the world views mental health.

Be Vocal Speak up

"Sometimes, without even knowing it, the images and words we use can be hurtful or inaccurate — particularly when it comes to mental health," Lovato — who has partnered with the Be Vocal project — notes in the resource. "If we as a society make the effort to be a little more mindful about the imagery and language we use, we have the power to help change perceptions of mental health in America. While some things are common sense, there are other tips I've learned as an advocate that I want to share with others."

Everything You Need to Know About 2 Dope Queens

If you, like me, are a massive fan of podcasts and that fandom happily intersects with your love of comedy, then you're probably already tuned in to the 2 Dope Queens frequency. And if you're not already, you should be, because the 2 Dope Queens podcast and the women behind it, comedians Phoebe Robinson and Jessica Williams, are slowly dominating the podcast and comedy worlds, respectively, with their work.

Williams and Robinson have been the minds behind the 2 Dope Queens podcast for four seasons now, and they're gearing up to bring their show to an even wider audience with a four-part limited HBO series. As a podcast, each episode is a recording from a live show where these cool women open up with a little banter back and forth before bringing comedians onstage so they can each do a short set. What's great about 2 Dope Queens is that Robinson and Williams really wanted the show to focus on bringing non-straight, non-white, non-male (although it happens from time to time!) comedians into the spotlight.

Now, 2 Dope Queens is ready to hit the big time with its HBO debut. According to Deadline, the 2 Dope Queens HBO specials are pulling no punches. Expect Williams and Robinson to get real and unfiltered about topics like "Blerds, Hot Peen, Hair, New York," as Deadline summarized it, and to bring in stars like Hannibal Burress, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon Stewart, Williams' former Daily Show boss. It sounds like the HBO special of this hit podcast is going to go all-out with no holds barred, and frankly, I am all the way here for it. Just one look at the most recent trailer for the HBO special seems to confirm that Williams and Robinson are doing good work by bringing 2 Dope Queens to the masses.

Ready to read more about the women behind 2 Dope Queens? Good, because if you keep scrolling, you're bound to end up reading some pretty fun stuff.

1. Williams already has serious comedy chops

If you're not already a major fan of 2 Dope Queens but still feel like you've seen Williams somewhere, then you've most likely seen her do her thing on The Daily Show. Beginning her run while Stewart was still on air and ending a short while after comedian Trevor Noah replaced him, Williams rose to prominence with her politically charged, edgy yet necessary takes on the sociopolitical issues of the day.

2. Robinson is a published author

Robinson doesn't just act, write for TV and produce; she's a published nonfiction author, too. Her book, You Can't Touch My Hair (And Other Things I Still Have to Explain), was released in October 2016. Composed of personal essays touching on feminism, pop culture and race (all topics near and dear to Robinson), the book did well enough in its sales and promotion that there's a good chance Robinson could write another one in the near future. At least, that's what I'm hoping, anyway.

3. Williams really, really loves J.K. Rowling

A massive Harry Potter fan, Williams has previously described what it was like to actually meet Rowling, but the photographic evidence and subsequent caption (which is a borderline novella) really drive home the fact that Williams meeting Rowling might be one of the coolest things she's ever done — aside from 2 Dope Queens, that is.

4. Robinson never set out to be a comedian

In a 2016 interview with NPR, Robinson revealed that a career in comedy was never Plan A.

"I was a funny kid growing up, and I did improv in college and went to Pratt Institute, but I did it very informally. It was just me and some of my friends goofing around on campus," she told NPR. "I never really thought of comedy as a career."

In fact, Robinson's career goals didn't really account for her natural funny side, which needed to be used. "My goal was, when I moved to New York, I was going to write serious films. I'm a huge movie buff and so I was like, I'm going to write my American Beauty. I'm going to write something earth-shattering [...] and I'm going to marry Robert DeNiro," she said. "That was the plan."

Sure, life doesn't always turn out the way you planned, but I'd go out on a limb and say that Robinson must be pretty happy with this Plan B.

5. Robinson is good friends with another boundary-pushing modern feminist icon

Robinson is, of course, making moves on her own merit, but I'll never say no to her teaming up with best friend — and solid feminist and comedic icon in her own right — Ilana Glazer to create some good comedy. While Robinson often cheers on Glazer on social media, the women have teamed up in the past to do shows together, and yes, Glazer does pop up on 2 Dope Queens from time to time. Love it.

6. Williams is going to be in the next Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them film

Not only did Williams get to meet one of her personal icons, but in October 2017, she revealed that she would be joining the cast of the Fantastic Beasts sequel in a still-undisclosed role. Even though fans have no idea who she'll be playing, let's keep our fingers crossed that she'll be able to make us laugh while lighting up the big screen.

7. Game of Thrones babe Richard Madden is one of the many stars to appear on the podcast

Not only did Robinson work with Richard Madden on the upcoming comedy Ibiza, but she was also able to get him on the podcast to bombard him with Games of Thrones questions (because what else are you going to do when you have a hot GoT alum on your show?).

8. Like many of us, Robinson is all heart-eyes emoji for both Michael Fassbender and Michael B. Jordan

While promoting You Can't Touch My Hair, Robinson let slip who her celebrity crushes were, and honestly, they're super relatable: hot actors Michael Fassbender and Michael B. Jordan. It also sounds like Robinson is making it her mission in life to get cozy with the Michaels, and I really like her outlook on it:

"I know he's in a relationship, but I'm like, listen, Michael, I don't have an Oscar — that is correct. I am not famous. I don't have a stylist. But what I do have is a great personality, and I have a Walgreens card, so I mean, we can get discount shaving cream all. the. time. Michael B. Jordan, I'm here for you, too. Michael Fassbender is not the only Michael I'm after. This is an equal opportunity Michael situation."

9. Williams took part in a purity ceremony when she was 14

One of the highlights from a 2017 NPR interview includes Williams revealing that she took part in a somewhat atypical purity ceremony when she was a teenager. It sounds like it left a serious impression on her.

"We had these crazy white gowns, and I remember our pastor putting rings on our fingers, and we were all women and the whole church was there, pretty much," she said. "I remember that being the first time where I felt like my body wasn't my own, and as a woman, my body, no matter what I did with it, it belonged to somebody else and I was responsible for guarding this idea of purity, and if I didn't, there was something wrong with me."

10. Williams has always felt like she's of two vastly different worlds

Williams Potterworld Instagram

In that same NPR interview, Williams speaks about how she's always felt like she had interests and places in both white and black communities. In this way, it's profoundly shaped her worldview and her comedy.

"I was always told that I acted too white. I was always told that I was going to date a white guy — which, in fairness, was true: I do have a white boyfriend. So they weren't entirely wrong, but all of those things were really damaging. I grew up hearing, 'You're pretty for a black girl,' 'You speak well for a black girl,'" Williams said. "I was really bookish. I was reading all of the time. I had big glasses... I read so much Harry Potter, that's like all I wanted to talk about. I watched stuff like Lizzie McGuire. I watched things that were very mainstream, but white, and I went to a predominately white school."

The Link Between Breast Cancer Treatments & Heart Disease Risk in Women

Breast cancer and heart disease are two of the biggest health concerns for women, but treating one condition may have a direct impact on developing the other. According to a new statement from the American Heart Association, some treatments for breast cancer may increase the patient's risk of heart disease. As a result, the organization encourages weighing the risks and benefits of different breast cancer treatments before deciding on a course of action.

Breast cancer survivors, especially women over the age of 65, are more likely to die from cardiovascular disease than breast cancer, the AHA points out, emphasizing the importance of effectively taking heart disease risk factors into consideration when treating breast cancer.

“Any patient who is going to undergo breast cancer treatment, whether they have heart disease at the beginning or not, should be aware of the potential effects of the treatments on their heart,” said Dr. Laxmi Mehta, chair of the writing group for the new scientific statement. “This should not deter or scare patients from undergoing breast cancer treatment, but should allow them to make informed decisions with their doctor on the best cancer treatment for them.”

For example, certain targeted breast cancer treatments can cause damage to heart muscle. And while in some cases, this damage is temporary, for others, it can be permanent. As a result, people who receive these targeted therapies need to be closely monitored for symptoms of heart failure and disease both during and following their cancer treatment. If medical professionals and patients are more aware of this connection, they can be on the lookout for signs that certain cancer therapies may be having an unwanted side effect and can change their course of treatment.

Radiation — another common breast cancer treatment — may cause coronary artery disease or blockages. Other breast cancer treatments, such as anthracyclines, can cause abnormal heart rhythms, which can be completely harmless for some patients but lead to life-threatening heart rhythms in others. Lastly, treatments like antimetabolites may prompt spasm of the heart arteries, which can mean chest pain symptoms but could result in a heart attack.

Fortunately, there's some promising news too. For example, the AHA says that a few small studies suggest that administering some common chemotherapy drugs in new ways — like, doing it slowly rather than all at once — may actually reduce the patient's risk of heart disease.

What to do

Lifestyle changes that help prevent or reduce the risk of heart disease are even more important for people being treated for breast cancer. The AHA has created a list of ways to improve your health behavior called Life’s Simple 7, which spells out specific ways to take care of your heart, including being physically active; achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight; eating a healthy diet; avoiding tobacco; and maintaining healthy levels of blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.

“Fortunately, with the advances in breast cancer treatment, there has been a growing number of survivors. However, during and after the treatment of breast cancer, having optimal control of heart disease risk factors is important, because older breast cancer survivors are more likely to die of heart disease than breast cancer,” Mehta said in the statement. “And that's why Life's Simple 7 is important for all patients with and without breast cancer.”

According to the AHA, there are an estimated 47.8 million women in the U.S. who are living with cardiovascular diseases and approximately 3 million breast cancer survivors, yet many people still regard breast cancer as the primary threat to women’s health. The organization wants people to know that it is important to recognize these conditions in order to maximize the chances of survival.
