Brie Larson & Lupita Nyong'o Totally Failed While Presenting at the SAG Awards

When two actresses of such high caliber as Brie Larson and Lupita Nyong'o take the stage together, you know magic will follow. What you don't expect, though, is for the pair to have a live presenting gaffe.

More: These SAG Award Dresses Were Absolutely Stunning

While presenting the award — or "actor," as the SAG Awards statues are called — for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Larson ran into some trouble with the teleprompter. "Here are the nominees for actors, well, you just passed... OK," she said as she read the screen. She then quipped to the crowd, "I hope you know what the category is because they just passed it."

As the teleprompter reversed so Larson could read the nominees, she and Nyong'o couldn't contain their amusement. When the teleprompter was finally ready, Nyong'o succinctly said, "Here are the nominees," at which point she and Larson burst out laughing, with the latter joking, "This is going so well."

If we're really being honest, though, the slip-up proved to be a nice moment of levity in an otherwise serious night. (Watch the hilarious interaction here.)

And while Larson and Nyong'o didn't exactly pass their teleprompter task with flying colors, they did deliver a big dose of magic just moments prior — before presenting the award, the pair revealed that SAG has created a new code of conduct for sets so that actors can feel safe from sexual misconduct.

Larson and Nyong'o are both past SAG Award winners. Larson won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for The Room in 2016, while Nyong'o won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for 12 Years a Slave in 2014.

Kristen Bell at the SAG Awards Proved She Should Host Everything

In addition to the inevitable pressure that comes with being the host of any award show, Kristen Bell really had her work cut out for her as the first-ever host of the SAG Awards. But, you know, she's Kristen Bell — which basically means she was destined to nail it.

More:  These SAG Awards Dresses Were Absolutely Stunning

Despite admitting early in the evening that she was nervous coming into the night, Bell pulled off her hosting duties without a hitch. And while she kept it pretty PC, the Good Place star didn't let the curtain close on the ceremony without a few funny bits and at least one serious dig.

If we were to make a highlight reel of Bell's hosting tonight, the following five moments would make the list.

1. Her "first lady" inference

Taking the idea of being the "first lady" of SAG and running with it, Bell said, "My first initiative as first lady will be cyberbullying, because I have yet to see any progress made on that problem quite yet. And I'm looking at you, Tony Hale. You're a bully, and guys — he is savage on Twitter. I am serious."

Of course, this was a little jab at the real first lady, Melania Trump, whose own anti-bullying campaign has been called farcical due to her husband's aggressive Twitter tendencies.

2. Her self-deprecation

Bell didn't just zing 'em at Melania. In fact, she kicked off the evening by poking fun at herself (and SAG too, really). "When I was young, I used to record Disney movies on my cassette player," she said. "I would sing every lyric in the Disney canon, knowing and believing that one day I would be part of that magic. I am Kristen Bell and I am a narcissist. Sorry — and I am an actor!"

3. Her poignant message... with a plot twist

While we all enjoy laughing at Bell's quirky brand of humor, we also love feeling inspired by the big-hearted star. Bell did just that as she wrapped up her opening monologue, sharing a powerful, timely and kind message.

"Everyone's story deserves to be told, especially now. We are living in a watershed moment, and as we march forward with active momentum and open ears, let's make sure that we're leading the charge with empathy and with diligence, because fear and anger never win the race," Bell commented, before playfully adding, "Most importantly, regardless of our differences, I think we can all come together and delight in one thing: Frozen 2 is coming out in theaters in 2019."

More: Best GIFs & Behind-the-Scenes Moments From the 2018 Golden Globes

4. Her standing ovation for Meryl Streep

Leave it to Bell to get the crowd on their feet for Meryl Streep — when Streep wasn't even in the room. To drive home her point that the actors in attendance cared more about their awards than what she was saying, Bell started tossing out random words. Then she pivoted and starting naming celebrities in the room, ping-ponging from Steve Carell to Cheryl Hines. "Sorry I can't resist this one: Meryl Streep," she said, prompting everyone to stand and start clapping. "You guys, she's not even here," Bell interjected. "She's not, but let's keep that applause going for Olivia Munn and Niecy Nash." Good one, Bell!

5. Her shameless husband plug

Like any good host, Bell made her way into the crowd at one point. Sitting next to her husband, Dax Shepard, Bell spoke about how excited she was to introduce someone she loved dearly. Someone who was a phenomenal talent, smart, funny and incredibly good-looking to boot. She then turned to the person seated on her opposite side — Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig. Still, Shepard was a good sport and gave Gerwig a hearty round of applause.

Everything You Need to Know About Endometriosis

Growing up, were you told painful periods were par for the course? We've certainly joked about heating pads and fetal positions while soldiering through workdays with anti-inflammatories. But now that women’s reproductive health is coming out of the dark, we’re learning that recurring pain is not just part of being a woman.

Yet even with this increased awareness, women are still struggling to find a diagnosis. They’re told by their mothers to "suck it up" or dismissed by their doctors. “It’s really important to note that a lot of women who don’t get diagnosed with endometriosis have seen a bunch of different providers,” said gynecologist Alyssa Dweck, an assistant professor at Mount Sinai who most recently published The Complete A to Z Guide for Your V.

If you’re experiencing painful periods, here’s what you should know about endometriosis.

What is endometriosis?

“It's when tissue that is similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus, which ends up causing inflammation, pelvic pain and potentially infertility,” said Dr. Ken Sinervo, the medical director for Center for Endometriosis Care and a surgeon who specializes in endometriosis treatment. The disease affects 1 in 10 women and is by far the most common cause of pelvic pain, according to Sinervo. Women most often have symptoms when they first start to menstruate, although a few — about 10 percent — may not experience any issues until later on, if at all.

The pain goes far beyond "normal" menstruation cramps. “These are women whose periods are taking over their lives. They miss school. They miss work. They’re literally incapacitated,” Dweck said. “They complain that their uteruses are being squeezed, as if it’s a wet towel getting wrung out."

Sometimes endometriosis causes other symptoms, too, like nausea, vomiting, pain during sex or bowel and urinary disorders, which might lead doctors to think another disease is to blame. Pain tends to start early in a woman’s menstruation history, typically within the first five months of menarche. But diagnosis often doesn't come until much later. “I definitely feel that most women start off having painful periods early on. Then in their teens, most of them get placed on birth control, which may make it better for a little while," Sinervo said. "Eventually they end up getting diagnosed because their symptoms become more progressive or they have more symptoms present.”

What causes endometriosis?

Doctors haven’t come to a single theory on what causes endometriosis, but there are a few popular ones. One theory is “retrograde menstruation,” where menstrual tissue flows backward through the fallopian tubes — which occurs in up to 90 percent of all women — and implants outside the uterus. Another theory suggests that endometriosis is an autoimmune response, in part because women with endometriosis tend to have a much higher occurrence of other autoimmune disorders such as lupus and multiple sclerosis. The other widely believed theory, held by several specialists, including Sinervo, is that women are born with endometriosis. “Once you start menstruating, you actually activate those cells and turn them on, and that’s when the endo starts to happen,” he said.

Doctors do know, however, that there is some kind of genetic link. “We know that if you have a first-degree relative [who has endometriosis], it increases your risk significantly,” Sinervo said. “So if your mother has it or your sister has it, you’ve got at least two or three times chance of having it.” However, it’s not a direct line. Even in identical twins, he says, there is only a 35 to 40 percent chance of both twins having endometriosis. So, other factors also seem to play a part, though it’s currently unclear what they are.

How it’s diagnosed and treated

The only definitive way to diagnose endometriosis is through laparoscopy. The disease is staged depending on the severity from stage one to stage four, with stage one being a few lesions and stage four being deep endometrial implants in the pelvic lining and ovaries. Some women may stay at stage one indefinitely, and others may progress to further stages. This is one of the current frustrations of endometriosis, Sinervo said. “We don’t know who’s going to have the disease potential to be stage four.”

After diagnosis, patients and their doctors can make choices on how to proceed.

Watchful waiting

For those with mild endometriosis or who are entering menopause, they might choose to do “watchful waiting,” which is delaying treatment and trying to manage symptoms. But menopause may not be the cure-all they’re hoping for, Sinervo said. “Some women who go into menopause may still have some symptoms because of their endo.”

Drugs

They might choose to do drug therapies, such as birth control pills or a medicated IUD, and anti-inflammatory drugs, which may relieve symptoms. Some women may find more relief on drugs that simulate menopause, like Lupron, and others like letrozole, which help “prevent the conversion of weak estrogens to strong estrogens,” Sinervo said. More drugs may be coming that may work for more patients. But at best, these current drugs help calm symptoms but don’t halt the progression of the disease or cure it.

Surgery

According to the Endometriosis Foundation of America, the gold standard for endometriosis treatment is laparoscopic excision surgery, where any endometriosis tissue is removed. This is different from ablation surgery, where tissue might be cauterized or lasered away. Where recurrence rates vary widely for endometriosis — anywhere from 6 to 67 percent, depending on the treatment — Sinervo said excision has a recurrence rate of just 5 to 10 percent. This is why he believes earlier intervention with laparoscopic excision, even in patients with mild disease, could lead to better outcomes.

What to do if you think you may have endometriosis

Talk to your health care provider, although you should be ready to advocate for yourself. “I have many, many patients who have seen eight to 15 doctors before they’ve been diagnosed,” Sinervo said. Also, Dweck and Sinervo agree that education and awareness are power. “The more you know about endo and the more you know about how it’s treated is going to greatly affect the number of potential surgeries you have and your chances of avoiding unnecessary surgeries — and unnecessary medical treatments.”

Ah, Valentine’s Day. The holiday of hearts, heart doilies, heart candy and heart-shaped pillows/stuffed animals/fluff-filled things.

For parents, it’s also often the holiday of trying to super-glue teeny googly eyes onto 24 Tic Tac boxes to attach to a card that says something probably corny and definitely punny like, “You’re a breath of fresh air, valentine!” And for teachers, Valentine’s Day means receiving many, many, (oh, so many) of those aforementioned corny cards scribbled with an adorable illegible signature from one of their little students. Chances are, your child's teacher will admire that card, maybe take a photo to put on Instagram (#TeacherLife) and then promptly toss it in the trash. But not this year.

Rumors Are Spreading Fast That Olivia Munn & Chris Pratt Are Dating

Seeing Chris Pratt and Anna Faris break up was pretty devastating to a lot of longtime fans of the couple. But at the end of the day, we love them, and we want them to be happy. So, since Faris has moved on with cinematographer Michael Barrett, it only makes sense that fans would be eager to see Pratt find a new someone special too.

More: Chris Pratt & Anna Faris Have Made Their Separation Even More Official

And for a minute, it seemed like that could be the case. An eyewitness spotted Pratt and Olivia Munn on what they described as a "romantic" dinner date at a West Hollywood hotspot over the weekend, saying they made no attempt to hide their PDA.

"He had his arm around her at one point," the onlooker told Entertainment Tonight. But is there any truth to that story? It doesn't look like it.

Munn was quick to shut down relationship rumors by tweeting screenshots of a text conversation she had with Faris, assuring her there was no truth to the reports Munn and Pratt were dating.

"Hey there! Sooo... I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth," she wrote. "I'm sure you already know it's not true, or maybe didn't care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it's not true."

Faris responded, "Oh my god-this town is so fucking crazy-you are so sweet to text-I love you-having said that if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled!... let's please catch up soon."

Munn also added a few of her own thoughts about the rumors.

"1. Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup," she wrote. "2. Not every woman is 'furious' at another woman for dating her ex."

She also took aim at some tabloid stories that hinted at a feud between Munn and Faris over Pratt, saying, "Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people think."

Amen to that.

The way Munn and Faris handled this whole situation is getting some praise from other stars too. Faris' Mom costar Allison Janney told Entertainment Tonight on the SAG Awards red carpet that the whole interaction spoke to how much respect there still is between Faris and Pratt.

"Chris and Anna, from my point of view, still love and respect each other very much," she said. "I think they would be happy, she would be happy for him to find someone, and she has found someone."

Janney continued, "They're just lovely people. And Olivia's a lovely person too, so I'm glad they didn't let a tabloid or whatever... I'm glad they put out the fire before it got out of hand."

Chrissy Teigen Posts Sexy Pregnancy Pic — & a Gender Reveal?!

If you have a pulse, you may have heard that supermodel Chrissy Teigen and singer John Legend are expecting their second child together. (Their adorable firstborn, daughter Luna Simone, will turn 2 this April.) And as of yesterday, fans are speculating that the couple is about to have another girl — thanks to a revealing (in more ways than one) Instagram post from Teigen. Here's exhibit A.

Chrissy Teigen girls weekend

Chrissy Teigen girls weekend

Sexy pregnant belly: Check. Relaxed pose: Check. But a revelation about the sex of the baby? That might be a stretch. Teigen's Instagram post caption simply read: "Girls weekend - Quaker Hill, NY - 2018." But, of course, Teigen didn't mention which girl(s) she's hanging with in New York — and there were no other women in the pic. So this has the internet doing what the internet does: guessing that Teigen is referring to a wee girl-to-be in her (still an innie) belly.

But — the plot thickens — in January 2017, Teigen revealed on Twitter that the single remaining embryo she and Legend had from earlier rounds of IVF is male.

The couple has struggled mightily and candidly with infertility, so we're guessing they would have used that male embryo this time around.

Is there anything over on Legend's social media accounts that might shed more light on the subject? Well, yesterday the singer posted a daddy-daughter shot of himself with Luna captioned "#sundance bound!" — so we know for sure Chrissy wasn't referring to Luna as part of her mysterious girls' weekend posse.

Social media sleuthing aside, we're still placing our bets on Legend and Teigen having a boy on the way. Teigen's far too blunt to play any guessing games. Sorry, internet: Sometimes, a girls' weekend is just a girls' weekend. We're just glad Teigen's getting a chance to put her feet up and relax while Legend and Luna take Sundance by storm.

Everything We Know About Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Wedding Menu

In case you've been asleep at the wheel for the last couple of months, we, as a global community, have a royal wedding to prepare for. And sure, the people immediately involved in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's upcoming May nuptials are likely far busier than the rest of us. But there's no doubt in my mind fans of the royal duo are on tenterhooks about the details of the royal wedding — especially because there are still so many things we do and, crucially, don't know.

Now, if you're like me, the one aspect of the royal wedding (as with all weddings and joyous celebrations in general) you're keeping the closest tabs on is the food. It's likely not that big a reach to say the food that will be served at the royal wedding will be lush to the max, full of flavor, probably very rich and sumptuous and, considering Harry and Markle are a young couple, fun as heck.

More: You Can Feel the Love in Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Engagement Photos

So, with that in mind, let's assess what we know about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding menu. You may be surprised at how much we already know.

Who's in charge?

According to Town & Country's report in early January 2018, it looks like a caterer has been decided on for the wedding, though the intel should be taken with a grain of salt. Citing The Telegraph's educated suggestion, it looks like the U.K. catering firm Table Talk could very well be responsible for the food on the big day.

Not only is Table Talk road-tested when it comes to royal affairs (they catered Pippa Middleton's wedding in 2017), but one look at the company's Instagram shows that this company understands how to pull off a chic and thoroughly modern affair. I mean, look at this lush table setting recently set up for an event at the National Gallery in London. I'm swooning!

What kinds of food will be served?

Here's where things get pretty darn interesting; try not to get too hungry.

If Table Talk is indeed catering, then we can look forward to some delicious and playful food being served. According to Food & Wine magazine, Table Talk is known for serving up dishes like gazpacho in a shot glass and cocktails in teacups and providing elegant touches like oyster and dessert bars. Again, look at their Instagram and you'll see proof of their inventiveness. Colorful macarons, simply plated but complex dishes and eye-catching ingredients: If this is the kind of food happening at the royal wedding in May, then count us in.

Table Talk Table Setting Instagram 3

Table Talk Table Setting Instagram 3

Of course, we should also account for the fact that both Harry and Markle will likely want to honor some more traditional royal wedding menu choices, and to do that, they could look to the menu older brother Prince William and his wife, the Duchess of Cambridge, chose for their special day. Back when the couple tied the knot in 2011, dishes like Gressingham duck, Windsor lamb, English goat cheeses, miniature Yorkshire pudding with roast fillet of beef and horseradish mousse, quails eggs with celery salt and gâteau opera cake were served.

Basically, expect to gain 5 pounds just reading through the menu details when we finally get the official word, because there will be no shortage of rich food on offer.

More: Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Set an Official Wedding Date

Will American touches be added?

While there is confirmation various American touches will come through during the wedding ceremony (including the fact that Markle will be given away by her mother and that she will have a maid of honor), we have to get a bit more speculative when it comes to the royal wedding menu. In all likelihood, if Markle is already making tweaks to royal protocol, then she'll have a voice in what kind of food is served. Now, we shouldn't expect ribs and hamburgers to surface at the reception, but there is a good chance food trends for 2018 currently taking over here in the States could influence the royal wedding reception.

Oh, and we can't forget the fact that Markle has already chosen the cake (the cake!). Rumor has it she's already asserted her culinary tastes into the wedding planning process by requesting a banana cake be served. If this ends up being true, I would pay big money to know how it went over with the guests.

More: Prince Harry & Meghan Markle's Wedding Will Have Some American Touches

There is no doubt Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding will be a special one and one that fans are eager to bear witness to. And while many of us will not be able to see the royal wedding menu firsthand or taste the food that's on offer, it's hard not to feel that excitement kick up a notch just reading through the details of what could be served.

"Chuffed" is British slang for happy or pleased, so we take it the pair's felines get along well and won't mind being part of a blended family. We can't wait to hear what's on the horizon for this couple, who already has one of the sweetest love stories in show business.

More: Here's Why Ed Sheeran Quit Twitter Yet Again

Sheeran and Seaborn met back when they were both students at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, England. They were just friends, and they lost touch after graduation when Seaborn left England to play field hockey for Duke University in the U.S. But Seaborn moved to New York after graduating college and they reunited in 2015 and started dating. She moved back to England soon after to be closer to him.

Sheeran has also admitted that Seaborn inspires a lot of his sweet lyrics, and his song "Perfect" is about her and their relationship. "I found a girl beautiful and sweet ... I never knew you were the someone waiting for me ... 'Cause we were just kids when we fell in love," he sings. Is anything more perfect than that?

Oh, John Stamos, you sly dog. You always know how to set our hearts aflutter. First there was Full House, then there was Fuller House, and now, there are full hearts across the land as Stamos' fans eagerly await the arrival of the actor's first child with his fiancée, Caitlin McHugh. Last night, the couple attended the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where Stamos and McHugh ruled the red carpet — with some serious baby bump PDA.

As they made their ridiculously photogenic appearance, Stamos was all over McHugh's belly. OK, John, we get the point: You're really, really excited to become a dad. It's cute. Stamos is 54, so one could argue he waited until he was really ready to make the shift from bachelorhood to fatherhood.

In an interview with People TV, Stamos confided that he's been rehearsing for this moment. “I’ll be a fun dad. I’ve been practicing for a long time,” he said to host Jess Cagle. “I’ve done every shtick you can do with a baby on TV... all the bits and jokes and diaper gags. I’ll probably just do all that stuff.”

"I asked... she said yes!... And we lived happily ever after," Stamos captioned the post. His rep confirmed the engagement and provided more details to E! The film concluded with Sebastian from The Little Mermaid encouraging John to 'Just ask the girl.' Caitlin said yes, then John whisked her to 21 Royal where they shared the news and celebrated with their families."

Man Who Eats Raw Salmon Daily Has Terrifying Tapeworm Experience

You might want to rule out sushi as your lunch or dinner option today after reading this story about a man and his truly terrifying tapeworm experience.

More: Scary News About the Health Risks of Eating Sushi

It all started when the unnamed man, who loves raw fish so much he reportedly eats it daily, felt sick, experiencing abdominal cramping and bloody diarrhea. While in the bathroom, he noticed something hanging out of his body.

"He grabs it, and he pulls on it, and it keeps coming out," emergency physician Dr. Kenny Banh recounted on a recent episode of the podcast This Won't Hurt A Bit. Banh was the doctor on call at the local emergency room in Fresno where the man went. Banh said the man then held it in front of him and "it starts moving."

Banh continues to say the man, who asked to be treated for worms, was carrying a plastic bag in his hand. In it, Banh said he saw the worm wrapped around a cardboard toilet paper tube. Banh would soon discover it to be a 5-1/2-foot-long tapeworm after unraveling it onto paper towels on the emergency room floor.

No, the man didn't just arrive from a foreign country or do anything unusual that could have exposed him to the parasite, according to Banh. Instead, Banh would discover the man just really loved raw salmon sashimi.

The risk of getting a tapeworm from eating raw or undercooked fish is low, but it's still possible. Around this time last year, it was reported that the tapeworm known to infect salmon from the Asian Pacific was also present in fish from U.S. waters.

The best way to protect yourself? Eat seafood that's been thoroughly cooked. If cooked seafood isn't your jam, experts also recommend only buying raw or undercooked fish from restaurants that are up to par with their health grades and have great food-storage practices.

Whether plans for parenthood are in the cards or not, fertility is something every person with a uterus has to address at some point in their life. Like it or not, approximately half of us have to start making decisions around if, how and when we get pregnant — but despite it being a topic so many people think about, it's still not widely discussed.

A new survey of millennial women (between the ages of 25 and 33) conducted by Celmatix highlights the stigma that still exists around discussing fertility. Specifically, 39 percent of those surveyed say they don't talk to their partners about fertility, and more than 60 percent say it's also something they don't mention to their friends.

To help break the taboo around the topic, the #SaytheFword campaign was conceived to encourage women to address their concerns and experiences with all aspects of reproductive health, from egg freezing to pregnancy to miscarriage and fertility treatments. For example, the survey found that nearly 60 percent of women don't talk about fertility with their mothers. While this isn't possible for everyone, those who do have access to and a relationship with their mother may benefit from having this conversation, as it could contain valuable information on family health history.

More: What Your Mother's Reproductive History May Have to Do With Your Fertility

Egg freezing is another area people are still pretty hush-hush about. While 13 percent of women reported they either have had their eggs frozen or are interested in doing it, the survey found that more than a quarter of them haven't told anyone else about it. And despite the fact that the egg-freezing procedure involves multiple steps and visits to a doctor, 69 percent of those who said they have frozen their eggs or are considering it haven't spoken to their OB-GYN about this option.

Fertility is a pretty broad topic and not something that should only come up if someone encounters problems getting pregnant. Rather, taking ownership of your fertility could mean everything from choosing the right birth control for you to considering egg freezing to deciding parenthood is not your thing. And yes, it also includes actual fertility treatments, though for many people, that's not something they are comfortable sharing with others. In fact, the survey found that 75 percent of women who are interested in or have undergone fertility treatments haven't spoken about it with their friends.

MoreKnowing When to Draw the Line on Fertility Treatment

Of course, part of owning your health and fertility is only sharing information at your own pace — and that is perfectly fine too. The point of the #SaytheFword campaign, however, is to help empower those who might want to talk about it but don't feel as though anyone cares or is listening. People do care and are listening, and chances are, there's someone else out there who can relate to your experience or could learn something from it.

How Women Owned the SAG Awards Last Night

The 24th Annual SAG Awards was the first major award show after the Golden Globes and the launch of Time's Up. While the all-black dress code was relaxed, the issues of equality, diversity, inclusion and safe working environments were at the forefront of everyone's mind. It was a night when we expected powerful statements to be made, for actors to continue their displays of solidarity with the women and men who have come forward with their stories of sexual assault in the entertainment industry and when, maybe, they might get a little bit of relief from that crushing reality as well.

In fact, it seems like the unofficial theme the evening was a celebration of women and all the change they are capable of creating in this industry. With Kristen Bell serving as the SAG Awards' first-ever host and women presenting each and every award, there was a refreshing change in the air. On that note, here are some of the strongest moments for women at the 2018 SAG Awards.

Kristen Bell

Kristen Bell SAG monologue

She’s the first host SAG has ever used for their show — and she’s female.

“There’s never been a host for this awards show before, first time, first person, first lady," said Bell in her opening monologue. "I never thought I’d grow up to be the first lady, but you know what? I kinda like it.”

Of course, as first lady, she needs to have a platform. What did Bell decide on? “Cyberbullying.”

Yes, it was a dig at first lady Melania Trump, who doesn’t seem to be making any headway in that area, especially with her husband, President Donald Trump.

Alison Brie

She was put in an awkward position on the red carpet while talking to Giuliana Rancic at E! News. She answered a difficult question about her brother-in-law, James Franco, and the sexual harassment allegations about him. What could have been really messy TV turned into a moment she handled with aplomb.

"I think that above all, what we've always said is it remains vital that anyone that feels victimized should and does have the right to speak out and come forward. I obviously support my family," Brie said. "Not everything that has been reported is fully accurate, so I think we're waiting to get all the information. But of course, now is the time for listening and that's what we're all trying to do."

All-female presenters

The SAG Awards used only female presenters for the award categories as a part of a celebration of women. Believe it or not, this wasn't a reaction to the sexual harassment stories that happened in the fall; it was something they had decided on long before Harvey Weinstein was the main headline.

“We did that separate from what’s going on," SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris told Red Carpet Report in December. "For us, it’s about inclusion and how do we ask for inclusion and diversity if we don’t reflect it? This year we wanted to be able to focus on a group of performers who are not always seen. They are put on the sidelines, so it was kismet — it was meant to be.”

The moment she took the stage and the audience gave her a standing ovation, Rita Moreno commanded every second of the spotlight.

“That’s a lot of love, but I can take it," she said to the audience.

She won her Life Achievement Award five years ago, and it was presented to her by Morgan Freeman, whom she’s known for 50 years. She was thrilled to be able to reciprocate and present him his own Life Achievement Award at the SAG Awards this year.

She even took a moment to scold him when he went to make his acceptance speech, "Morgan, lift up your hat. Now we can see you!”

If you missed Rita Moreno’s speech five years ago, go back in time and treat yourself. It’s worth it.

Brie Larson & Lupita Nyong’o

Right before Brie Larson and Lupita Nyong’o revealed the final category of the night, the women announced the new SAG-AFTRA on-set code of conduct to address sexual harassment. It was a powerful way to end the evening, especially since both Larson and Nyong’o have been active in the Time’s Up movement. Larson has been an advocate for sexual assault survivors after her Oscar-winning role in Room and Nyong’o shared her Harvey Weinstein story earlier this fall.

The women of SAG came to win, and darn it if they didn't win the entire evening. It will certainly be interesting to see if this trend continues throughout awards season to its thrilling final chapter at the Academy Awards. Here's to hoping.

10 Tips for Getting Your Digestive Health Back on Track

$

Health has many components, and there are plenty of things that can make us feel better or worse. One thing is for sure, though: If your digestive system is having issues, you're going to feel like crap.

As we learn more about the role digestion plays in our overall health, keeping your system in balance continues to seem like one of the best things you can do for your body. Here are some tips to help keep your digestive flow on track.

1. Incorporate healthy bacteria in your diet

Factors such as stress, lack of sleep, antibiotics, illness, aging and poor diet choices can lead to an imbalance of your digestive tract bacteria. Certain probiotics, mostly found in dairy products and some fortified cereals, can help to maintain the balance of "good" bacteria in the digestive tract. Try a daily helping of yogurt with probiotics.

2. Keep the fiber on deck

Consistently eating the right amount of fiber can help promote bowel function. High-fiber foods such as fruit, vegetables and whole grains also help you feel full, which can help lower your chance of overeating throughout the day. Keeping a running tab on the fiber you consume to help give you more energy.

3. Hydrate

Water is one of those essential elements for a healthy digestive system. Adequate hydration gives your digestive system the moisture it needs to properly function. Also, sometimes our bodies mistake hunger for thirst, so stay hydrated to prevent unnecessary overeating. Try keeping water with lemon slices around to help boost your intake.

4. Become a frequent flyer

Eat small, frequent meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism revved up, your blood sugar balanced and your energy up. This can also help you avoid feeling ravenous at your next meal, which in turn can lead to eating larger portions of high-fat foods that can slow your digestion. Try ruining your appetite before going to a party or out to dinner with a nutrient-dense snack like a handful of nuts or a plain yogurt.

5. Work it out

Exercise can help create a healthy digestive environment by allowing food to move through the large intestine much quicker, which also decreases the amount of water lost in the stool. Intestinal muscles that contract during exercise also contribute to more efficient movement of stools.

6. Slow & steady wins the race

Some researchers claim that the more you chew your food, the less you eat. Chewing foods slowly also increases the digestive enzymes in your mouth, which allow for better overall digestion as the food moves through your digestive tract. Besides, who wants to feel like the elephant in the room by expelling gas caused from eating too fast?

7. Don't pull the trigger!

Festive holiday foods, such as red wine, holiday citrus punch, spicy shrimp appetizers or tomato bisque soup, are all examples of foods that may irritate the digestive system. By avoiding trigger foods such as these, your digestive system will operate smoother.

8. Think saucer (but not flying saucer)

Having a smaller plate means that a smaller amount of food can fit on it. With less food on your plate, of course, you'll eat less. Portion control is important not only for weight management, but for reducing the stress on the digestive system that comes from overeating.

9. If it's fried & dyed, lay it to the side

Heavy, wintry foods, such as duck confit, eggnog and apple pie not only stay in the digestive system longer, but they cause more stomach acid to be produced, which can also lead to gastric reflux. Processed comfort foods such as instant mashed potatoes, canned gravy and cranberry sauce may be challenging for your digestive system; avoid these and your stomach will thank you.

10. Indulge consciously

For those dishes that just can't be trimmed of fat and calories, go ahead and go for it — but in a conscious manner. Avoid the post-meal sluggish feeling by cutting the portion in half and feel empowered having a controlled portion. Always try to have a cup of tea on hand — try mint or cinnamon tea. This will help slow down your eating, allowing you to listen to your body and be more mindful.

Eugenie and her new fiancé, Jack Brooksbank, announced their happy news Monday, Jan. 21, closely followed by the traditional celebratory engagement photo shoot. Seriously, check out that rock, which bears a real resemblance to the one worn by Eugenie's mom's, the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson.

There's no date set for this royal wedding yet, but E! News reports it's set for this fall, and the couple will tie the knot at St. George's Chapel in Windsor, the same place where Harry and Markle are having their May wedding.

Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip released a statement saying they are "very pleased" and "wish the couple the best," though Eugenie's fiancé probably wasn't subject to the same royal approval process as Markle — Eugenie is only eighth in line for the throne. Both Eugenie's and Brooksbank's parents, though, sound thrilled.

"Jack is an absolutely outstanding young man and Eugenie and he have got to know each other over a number of years, and I'm really thrilled for them," Eugenie's father, the Duke of York, said. "I am just completely overjoyed for them and wish them every happiness."

Brooksbank's parents said in a statement that they are "completely over the moon" and "very excited."

"We could not be more delighted with the news of the engagement," they added.

7 Ways to Add More Fruits & Veggies to Your Kid's Plate

Look. It's hard enough to eat vegetables as an adult (sometimes burritos just sound better without trying to play the healthy card). So, if we're being honest here, who can really blame kids if they don't rejoice over broccoli on their plate?

Still, kids want to be healthy, and they'll eat healthy, too — as long as food tastes good. Since fruits and vegetables need to be eaten one way or another, here a few ideas for getting them down the preferred way: with a smile.

1. Swap real spaghetti with spaghetti squash

Melt some butter and mix some pesto and marinara sauce over a plate of baked spaghetti squash. No need to spill your secret. Just put it in front of your kids and see what they think. Who knows? They might not miss a beat.

2. Snack on fruit pouches with veggies mixed in

There are fruit pouches — or, as I like to call them because it's more fun, squeezers — and there are fruit pouches with veggies mixed in that will go undetected by all but the most discerning small mouths. GoGo squeeZ manages to weave butternut squash into its Mighty Mango pouch and carrots into its Mighty Berry. A true win-win.

3. Have make-your-own smoothie days

Don't want to make smoothies yourself? Try getting the kiddos excited about creating their own. Lay out some ingredients, and then let them choose a few and dump them into the blender.

More: Yes, It Is Possible to Eat Fast Food Without Eating a Bunch of Junk

4. Have baked sweet potato fries with dinner

Kids love fries. Just swap potatoes for sweet potatoes and the fryer for the oven. You can even try purple potatoes, which have loads of antioxidants. Your kids might just think purple fries are the coolest thing since sliced bread.

5. Get creative with cauliflower

This magical vegetable can be disguised as mashed potatoes, rice, pizza crust and even mac and cheese. I didn't believe it either until I tried it myself. Here are a few recipes to slate into your meal planning.

6. Think small — very small

Cutting vegetables isn't the time to go big or go home. The smaller you chop them, the easier they are to mix into other dishes. For example, put minced broccoli in scrambled eggs or mac and cheese, add diced bell peppers to pasta sauce or cut squash into baby pieces and toss into a cheesy omelet. Yum.

7. Add to casseroles and soups

You could add shredded cheese to soups and casseroles, but you could also add shredded veggies like carrots, squash and potatoes. It's easy to avoid those big, chunky veggies that make kids go "ew." Additionally, grilled cheese and soup? Not something kids hate. What they don't know is that you pureed butternut squash or tomatoes to help make that creamy base.

Matt Lauer's Wife, Annette Roque, Has Reportedly Kicked Him Out

Matt Lauer has been laying low since he was fired from NBC in late November 2017 due to allegations of inappropriate sexual behavior at work. He's been spotted with his kids in the Hamptons, which makes sense since he and his wife, Annette Roque, own a home there. But as whispers about an impending divorce grow louder and louder, it's now reported Roque has kicked Lauer out of their New York estate.

More: Katie Couric Opens Up About "Crushing" Aftermath of Matt Lauer Firing

Page Six was first to report that Lauer has allegedly been given the boot by Roque, who they say plans to officially file for divorce soon. However, reps for Lauer have refused to comment on whether he and Roque are actually separated, despite all the rumors they're on the brink of a breakup.

This wouldn't be the first time the couple of nearly 20 years hit a rough patch. Roque filed for divorce from Lauer in 2006 citing "mental abuse, extreme mental and emotional distress, humiliation, torment, and anxiety" as her reasons for wanting to end the marriage. According to reports, though, she withdrew her divorce petition a few weeks later, and she and Lauer have been together without any public issues ever since.

But Lauer and Roque wouldn't be the first couple to fall apart after allegations of sexual assault and misconduct went public. For example, Harvey Weinstein's wife, Georgina Chapman, left him very soon after dozens of women went public with their stories of his repeated abuse in October 2017 with divorce proceedings currently wrapping up. Considering what Lauer is accused of, it wouldn't exactly be surprising for Roque to make the decision to leave him.

Page Six reports he's staying in another home in the Hamptons so he can be near his kids. But until he comments on this (or Roque files for divorce), it may be a while before we know what's actually going on with his marriage.

5 Bad Health Habits & How to Fix Them

$
0
0

Habits are hard to change. We get that. But if your habits are detrimental to your health, you have even more reason to change them. But what can you do? Thankfully, there are a few tips and tricks that can help you get through the struggle of sitting on your can too much or not drinking enough water. We consulted with several experts to find out if there's any way to change our habits, and here's what they had to say.

Sitting too much

The problem: Sitting down on your tush for hours at a time is bad for your health, and a study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine shows it can actually kill you — yes, even if you exercise. Of course, this is a hard habit to break even if you want to, as many of us spend the day chained to a desk or in another sedentary job.

The solution: Physical therapist Jasmine Marcus says you can use your phone — yes, the one you play Candy Crush on when you're sitting on the toilet. She suggests setting reminders for every 30 to 60 minutes to get up and move around, which is not only good for your health, but can help keep you mentally alert as well. "You can also enlist a friendly coworker to remind you both to get up at work every so often or have a family member bug you to get off the couch when you're at home," she says.

Not drinking enough water

The problem: Water helps a ton of your body's systems work normally — such as regulating your temperature, lubricating and cushioning joints and protecting your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues — and also helps rid your body of wastes. So while we know water is essential for good health, it's hard to pound enough water every day.

The solution: Courtney Meidenbauer is a registered dietitian and nutritionist and the state media representative for the Wisconsin Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and she suggests keeping a water bottle on hand at all times — so there is none of that "out of sight, out of mind" business going on, as it serves as a visual reminder to drink water. Also, she says she carries a big bottle. "I found a larger water bottle also means less refilling, so that reduces another barrier to not drinking enough water," she says.

Additionally, registered dietician and nutritionist Jeanette Kimszal says you can boost your fluid intake by incorporating more water-containing foods in your diet. These include grapefruits, oranges, apples, pears, cucumber, celery, spinach, iceberg lettuce, bell peppers, green cabbage, cauliflower, eggplant, red cabbage, broccoli, carrots and green peas, she says.

Biting your nails

The problem: Nail-biting is a habit that can develop in childhood, but for some of us, it can hang on past adolescence. It can damage teeth and expose the biter to a hell of a lot more germs than non-nail-biters and can be psychologically or socially stressful.

The solution: Dr. Natalie Dattilo, a licensed clinical psychologist, says that if you're a nail-biter, examine your triggers — for example, do you tend to chomp them while you're on your phone, while driving or while feeling anxious? Instead, she suggests trying something new, such as chewing gum, sitting on your hands, squeezing a stress ball, eating a crunchy veggie or clasping your hands together. This means you'll have to turn an unconscious habit into a conscious one, and don't give up if you find yourself gnawing away — learn to recognize when and where you do it, and make an effort to do something else.

Mindless eating

The problem: You need food to live, of course, but if you eat when you're not hungry, you risk gaining weight and a whole host of health problems, such as heart disease and diabetes.

The solution: Karen R. Koenig is an eating psychology expert, and she has some great tips for those of us who like to mindlessly munch. She suggests making note of potential triggers, such as sadness, boredom, stress, loneliness, confusion or helplessness. If you're feeling a desire to eat, check to see if you're feeling any of these triggers and address them instead of eating. For example, if you're stressed out and want to snack, instead deal with your stress a healthy way, such as engaging in exercise.

Not getting enough sleep

The problem: Sleep is important for your physical and mental health, yet millions of Americans don't get enough.

The solution: Duke University's Dr. Sujay Kansagra, Mattress Firm's sleep health expert, says there are a few ways you can improve your sleeping habits, which can lead to better health. For starters, ditch caffeine. "Even morning caffeine can linger in your system when it's time to sleep," he says.

Next, keep your smartphone out of your bedroom. "Watching TV or surfing the web until you feel sleepy can disrupt the secretion of a natural sleep hormone called melatonin, leaving you to a night of restless sleeping," he explains.

And third, avoid alcohol at nighttime. "Alcohol may help you fall asleep, but it will actually disrupt deep sleep and wake you earlier than you want," he explains. "Try to go to bed with a blood alcohol content of zero for the best sleep."

Habits are hard to break

While habits can be incredibly hard to break, with a little self-reflection and some motivation (plus carrying a large water bottle around), you can make a healthy change for the better.

James Franco Might Have Been the Most Uncomfortable SAG Awards Attendee

Updated Jan. 22, 2018, 11:30 a.m. PT: After skipping the Critics' Choice Awards among backlash over several allegations of predatory and sexually exploitative behavior, James Franco did attend Sunday's SAG Awards, where he was nominated for Best Actor for his role in The Disaster Artist. Though he appeared at the ceremony, Franco did not walk the red carpet or give any interviews.

His sister-in-law, Alison Brie, did address the backlash against him on the red carpet, though, telling Entertainment Tonight, "Tonight is about the work that has been done, and I think it still is important for all of us to celebrate that. So much goes into these projects that is behind-the-scenes that people don't see, so it's nice to still celebrate them. And, you know, I really admire how he's handling everything, listening and being open to change. I think we all need to support men being open to change if we want to see major change in this industry."

Despite Brie's support, though, others in the industry are not on Franco's side. Speaking at the Los Angeles Women's March on Saturday, Scarlett Johansson made a subtle dig at his choice to wear a Time's Up pin to the Golden Globes, which were held just days before five women would tell the LA Times he exploited or assault them. Without ever saying his name, Johansson told the crowd, "My mind baffles. How could a person publicly stand by an organization that helps to provide support for victims of sexual assault while privately preying on people who have no power? I want my pin back, by the way."

Original story, published Jan. 12, 2018: In light of five new sexual harassment allegations against him on Thursday, James Franco is laying low. Even though his movie The Disaster Artist is continuing a successful award show run, Franco skipped Thursday's Critics' Choice Awards and wasn't there to collect the award he won for Best Actor in a Comedy.

The award was presented during the one-hour pre-show by Vice Principals star Walton Goggins. The pre-show was streamed online before the main show was broadcast. When Goggins announced Franco as the winner in the category, there was a smattering of applause before Goggins announced that Franco wasn't there to accept the award. It was definitely a pretty awkward moment.

Considering that Franco has now been accused of sexual misconduct by so many women, he likely made the right choice to stay home from the ceremony. We've already seen these kinds of accusations topple the careers of men more powerful than Franco — Harvey Weinstein, Louis C.K. and Kevin Spacey, to name a few. And while Franco's attorney keeps denying that's there's any truth to any of the claims (Franco himself hasn't made a public statement since the new allegations were published Thursday), five accounts from five separate women are hard to ignore.

More: Best Excerpts From Golden Globes Winners' Speeches

In the days of the #MeToo movement and the Time's Up initiative, patience for this kind of behavior — both in Hollywood and among the public — is wearing increasingly thin. Franco is now learning that his actions have consequences, as powerful men before him have learned in recent months and as powerful men after him will learn in months to come.

Never Be Late Again: Morning Hacks From a Mom of 5

$

Once you have kids, you'll laugh that pre-children you never could figure out how to arrive places on time. Because back then, you weren't dealing with a toddler you would dress and would then suddenly be naked again two minutes later for some inexplicable reason. Or a child who couldn't possibly go to school because her ponytail just doesn't look right. Or a teenager you swore was awake but is now apparently sleeping again.

Parents resort to all kinds of tactics to get their kids out of the house on time. One mom I know even uses a megaphone (you know, so she won't have to yell). But after spending the past 13 years trying to get my five kids out of the house, I've come across a few hacks that actually really work — no megaphone required (unless you just like using it).

But I also wondered what other moms were doing to get out on time. So, I've rounded up these tips and more from moms across the country along with my own; of course, not every hack will be a game-changer with every kid, so try them out and see which ones make a difference for your family. And then, prepare for the stares of awe and the feeling of satisfaction when you find yourself at your intended destination, on time and stress-free.

More: 10 Life Hacks All Moms Need

Do everything the night before

And I mean everything. Look, I know how it goes: Who wants to make all those lunches when you're so snuggly on the couch watching Game of Thrones?! But put the television on pause and make those lunches. Also make sure the coffee is ready to go, the backpacks and athletic equipment are by the door, the winter gear is lined up, permission slips are signed and clothes are picked out for the next day. In fact, some particularly morning-averse kids can even benefit from sleeping in their clothes. Look, I don't want to sleep in daytime clothes myself — but if it works for them, go for it.

And remember: You're not a personal assistant. So, as your kids get older, they should be doing a lot of these things themselves. Write up a checklist and make sure they take care of all this stuff before they get TV/YouTube/Xbox Live time at night.

Set your alarm 15 minutes earlier

You're already getting up too early — so why not be less stressed while you do it? As one mom I spoke with, Alexandra, points out, "It really doesn't make a difference physically because tired is tired whether at 6:15 or 6:30 a.m. But it makes a huge difference in ETA."

Another mom I interviewed, Amanda, agrees that simply getting up earlier can make a difference in having a smoother, more efficient morning. She says, "I can gently tell the kids, 'Hey, guys, good morning! I made cinnamon toast and it’s almost ready!' Rather than just barging in with a grumpy, tired expression demanding they rise." Who wouldn't get up for delicious cinnamon toast?

Take breakfast with you

If the whole cinnamon toast scenario doesn't work out, here's another option: Have breakfast on the go. This works really well in my house and saves a tonof time. So what do you take? Breakfast bars, granola bars, yogurt drinks, cereal in a bag (no milk), whatever they want — as long as it's not a box of Junior Mints. (Although, yum.)

Keep extra essentials near the kitchen

If you live in a house where the bedrooms are on a second floor, make sure to keep some morning necessities on the main level. There will always be a kid who forgot socks, and not having to run back up and downstairs saves precious minutes.

Along those lines, it's a great idea to have children brush their teeth in the kitchen or a nearby bathroom. When kids head back upstairs for personal hygiene tasks, they have a mysterious way of completely disappearing for a long stretch of time — time that, in the morning, you don't have to spare. My daughter recently got her ears pierced, for example, so we keep the cleaning solution and cotton balls right by the front door.

Motivate with tech if you must

Some children are highly motivated by television or their smartphone. So, consider telling your kids that they can watch a few minutes of TV or use their phone ifthey get everything done on time in the morning. But be warned: This can seriously backfire if your child throws a fit when you tell them it's finally time to go.

Or here's another idea: If you're driving your kids to school, put their screens in the car while they get ready in the house. Let them know they can use the devices when they're ready to go, with seatbelts on. And never be afraid to shut the Wi-Fi off in your home to get those dawdling teenagers out of the house faster. I mean, with no Wi-Fi, what's even the point of trying to stay home, kids? (*Wink*)

Double the drive-time

Does the drive take 10 minutes? Schedule 20. Assume there will be traffic or meltdowns or missing items you need to turn back for. This way, when your kid suddenly knocks a dish to the floor, you've got built-in padding minutes to do a quick cleanup and stillarrive on time.

Put shoes on in the car

For some reason, it can take a kid an awfully long time to put on a pair of shoes. And toddlers tend to kick them off in the car anyway. So just throw their shoes on when you reach your destination. And let your older kids spend time lacing up sneakers while you're sitting in traffic instead of when you're trying to motivate them out the door.

After all that, if you're still late once and awhile, go easy on yourself. Remember: You'll get another chance when that alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m. tomorrow. Godspeed.

If you've been especially heartbroken over the fact that Anna Faris and Chris Pratt split in 2017 and might be looking for a way to hang onto the memories (even though they're co-parenting really well and moving on, so chin up!), there's a way for you to do that. About a week ago, Faris listed the home she and Pratt shared in the Hollywood Hills for $2.5 million, which means (do you see where I'm going with this?) you could get be the person to live in the house immediately after the two celebrities you've loved for so long. Sure, it may be a pricey way to show you're a true fan who never forgets the glory days of a former power couple, but you only live once, right?

Make no mistake: the $2.5 million price tag may sound exorbitant but it's not only fairly reasonable for a home in the Hollywood Hills, the listed features in the house make this pad a must-purchase. Try not to get the itch to put in a bid when you read the following description about the house, OK?

The home has three bedrooms and three baths and comes in at around 2,563 square feet. The house itself is located on a cul-de-sac and the lot is over 35,000 square feet, so you have a heck of a lot of space to run around and create your own private oasis in Los Angeles. Hell, pretend you're in the Jurassic World sequel and put a cardboard cutout of Pratt in the bushes to really bring the backyard to life.

The house also boasts a mid-century feel with an open floor plan, hardwood floors, floor-to-ceiling windows to let in tons of natural light, Sub Zero appliances, granite countertops, a swimming pool and a small, sandy boccie court. Guys, this house sounds freaking unreal. Seriously, when can I move in?

The final note here is that Faris and Pratt have lived in the home since 2005, so there are likely memories about in this house. Think about it: This was the house they bought well before Pratt got his breakout role on Parks & Recreation and before they had their adorable son, Jack, and it's the home where Faris has recorded nearly every episode of hit her podcast, Unqualified.

There's no word yet on where Faris and Pratt will move once the house is sold, but let's not think about that. Let's just ogle the amazing photos of the house on Trulia, shall we?
