Artisan food producers on Martha's Vineyard

$

0
Every summer, thousands of tourists travel to Cape Cod, particularly Martha's Vineyard, in search of sun, sand and fun. If you visit, be sure to grab some locally made food products. With everything from raw chocolate to local honey, you'll find something for everyone back home.

Martha's Vineyard

Come the end of March, locals on Martha's Vineyard start itching for the season to officially begin. Businesses are putting the final touches on any winter work they have been doing and local food artisans start producing their small-batch items.

Coffee

Todd Christy of Chilmark Coffee travels all over during the winter, exploring new coffee beans to roast in his shed up island. He's the owner and official coffee roaster, supplying farmers markets all over the island, as well as shipping nationwide. Sourcing beans that are organic and fair trade is one of Todd's main objectives; he wants to know that coffee farmers are being payed fairly and can support their families. You can taste both qualities when you sip his coffee. His most awaited product during the hot summer months and not available anywhere else but on island ? Menemsha Mud, his cold-brewed espresso that is so precisely made, it's an art. "Steeped for 24 hours in wonderful crystal clear Chilmark water at 42 degrees"— if that's not coffee art, we don't know what is!

Chocolate

Eat your chocolate and feel good about it — it's what the chocolate makers of Not Your Sugar Mamas want you to feel when munching on their chocolate. Founded by Ky and Bennett, its mission is "to spread health, happiness and love one kickass superfood at a time." Their chocolate is not heated as many other bars are, thus considered raw with its full health benefits intact. To make the chocolate bars even more power-packed, Ky and Bennett add ingredients such as maca powder, spirilina, agave nectar, and local honey and sea salt right from Martha's Vineyard!

And talking about chocolate, be sure to grab a bag of Enchanted Chocolates Hot Chocolate mix — it's out-of-this-world amazing! Unlike other mixes that are powdered, this mix is made up of ground bits of chocolate mixed with sugar and vanilla beans. The thick and creamy texture is well worth the calories.

Preserves

One of the locals' favorite finds at the farmers market is New Lane Sundries, created by Linda Lee Alley who started making preserves in 1987! She now makes more than 25 varieties every week during the summer, with a focus on locally foraged ingredients such as Rosa Rugosa petals, beach plums, elderberries, and Vineyard wild grapes. Although if you're craving these flavors, you'll have to make the trip on island! Available in her online shop are more classic, but still delicious flavors, such as Ginger Pear,  Strawberry Banana Pineapple, and Orange Jelly with Grand Marnier.

Support local artisans

Whichever product you do pick up on your trip to Martha's Vineyard, remember you're supporting a thriving community of artisans; people that give 110 percent every day and work endless hours on perfecting their product; community members who personally create your product, package it and deliver it with so much care and love. And they do this everywhere, not only on vacation. Be sure to scout out the best local products in your own community!

JWoww's new role in Snooki's life

JWoww has a new role: Godmother! The Jersey Shore star is BFF Snooki's right-hand woman when it comes to baby Lorenzo.

JWoww is Lorenzo's godmother

Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jenni "JWoww" Farley have a plan: They want to be family someday — and they're already close to that goal, thanks to baby Lorenzo.

Let us explain: Little Enzo was baptized over the weekend — and JWoww is his godmother!

"My precious godbaby," the 28-year-old reality star tweeted on Sunday, along with an Instagram shot of her holding the adorable infant.

"Lorenzo is finally baptized! He did so good.

So, does the addition of little Enzo in their lives make JWoww want kids with fiance Roger? Yup!

"Especially as we get older, [kids are] definitely a thought," the well-endowed MTV star said in January. "…[Roger]'s 37, so you know… you don't want to wait until you're 40 to have kids."

But, not before they get married.

"I'm more traditional and wouldn't have babies before a wedding," she added to InTouch Weekly, though Roger's not exactly down with that.

"Roger wants children now," she added.

And we think Snooki wants them to have a kid ASAP, too.

"We are about two-and-a-half years apart, so I thought, our kids can be two years apart," JWoww told the magazine last year. "They’ll date and have babies. I don’t even care if they date; I just want them to have kids so we’ll officially be relatives!"

Sounds like a plan!

Tell us: Do you think JWoww is the best choice for Lorenzo's godmother?

The Duggars might add another child... through adoption!

The Duggars aren't done adding to their family yet: Their recent trip to Asia has them thinking about adoption!

The Duggars are thinking about adoption

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar went through incredible pain when they lost their 20th child, Jubilee, to miscarriage in 2011. However, that sad experience didn't change their opinion on more children — in fact, they're thinking about adding another to the Duggar brood.

But, it'll be through adoption this time.

"We are open to the idea of adoption," Michelle told People. "We are praying about it, and we will see what God has in store. Love for children has been placed on our hearts."

The family was inspired after visiting an orphanage during their recent trip to Asia, documented for the TLC special 19 Kids and Counting: The Duggars Do Asia.

"The kids are definitely pushing towards wanting us to open our home up to another child or more," she added. "They see how much we have been blessed with and how little so many children have and they want to share. We tell our children that would have to be something that is God's will for our family, and we will see if it is. Our children love children, and we all do."

The family does have another bun in the oven though: Eldest son Josh and wife Anne are expecting their third child later this year.

So, will they go through with it? Michelle is putting all of her faith in God to give her the answer.

"We are open to whatever is in store," she added. "It doesn't really matter whether I would have another child or we would adopt, but we want to approach it with an open heart."

Hopefully they'll go for it!

Nashville preview: Episode 15

Rayna and Teddy's relationship grows more complicated when Maddie gets in trouble. Meanwhile, Deacon finds himself interested in someone new.

Nashville episode 15

Check out the synopsis and a couple of sneak peek videos below for Nashville"When You're Tired of Breaking Other Hearts".

Here is the official synopsis for the episode from ABC:

Katie Couric guest stars as herself when Rayna appears on the "Katie" show, trying to set the record straight about her marriage and balancing her career with motherhood. Juliette attempts to take her album launch into her own hands but it backfires when she tweets out a surprise concert location. Maddie lies to Teddy about her whereabouts -- with dangerous consequences -- and Deacon is drawn to his dog's pretty new veterinarian, Stacey. Meanwhile Avery tries to control his music destiny by flouting Dominic and Marilyn, and things are awkward between Scarlett and Gunnar as he continues to process his brother's death.

Nashville fans get the chance to meet Connie Britton>>

In the first sneak peek clip, we find Rayna and Teddy having a chat on the phone about some basic household stuff. It looks like they're getting along about as well as you'd expect from two people who are going through a divorce and both of them are pretty snappy with each other. When Rayna double-checks to make sure that Teddy can be with the girls that night, he reminds her that he does in fact know how to be a dad. This prompts Rayna to remind Teddy that she would very much like him to keep any "special projecting" with his new consultant out of their family home. Wow, did anyone else have icicles form on their computer while watching that scene? Because it sure was cold.

In the second sneak peek clip, we find Deacon at a hospital handing a stuffed animal to Rayna and saying to give it to "her". From the synopsis, we can assume that he must mean Maddie and that the dangerous consequences of her lying to her father about where she was include a hospital stay. Later, we see Deacon back at home having a chat with Cole about his new puppy. The talk soon turns to the puppy's new vet and the fact that Deacon has already slept with her. Wow, Deacon moves fast. Cole points that out as well, but also points out that it's Deacon's willingness to jump straight into the sack with women that proves he's still in love with Rayna. We think Cole makes an excellent point.

ABC's Nashville planning concert tour>>

What do you think now that you've read the synopsis and have seen a couple of sneak peeks from this episode of Nashville? Have you got any guesses as to what kind of trouble Maddie will get herself into? Do you think Deacon will continue to see the vet or was it just a one-time thing?

There's a good chance Clive Mantle feels life has been imitating art a little too closely lately! The Game of Thrones actor was bitten during a recent attack, just as his character was.

Clive Mantle

Clive Mantle's recent stay at a Travelodge hotel nearly cost him an ear! The Game of Thrones actor, whose character you may recall had two fingers bitten off, was allegedly attacked over a noise dispute on Sunday.

The 55-year-old British actor, who had been staying at the hotel in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in England, was attacked by a 32-year-old man after he asked a group of fellow guests to turn it down a notch.

During the scuffle, Clive Mantle was pinned to the ground and his ear was partially bitten off!

Seth MacFarlane and Game of Thrones girlfriend call it quits>>

"He is very shaken and shocked by what has happened. You don't expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel," his agent told the BBC. "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr. Mantle said the police, ambulance, and hospital staff were amazing."

The thespian had just completed his role in The Ladykillers for the Theatre Royale showings, but is now uncertain if he'll be able to continue on to performances in Salford, England.

"Clive doesn't yet know when he will be able to rejoin the cast and feels he must mention the ambulance crew, police, and hospital staff who were all superb," a spokeswoman explained. "Fiery Angel, producers of The Ladykillers, are horrified by the events of Sunday morning and are doing everything they can to ensure Clive has a speedy recovery."

Check out the incredible 14-minute Game of Thrones recap>>

A Travelodge spokesperson added, "As this is a live police investigation, we cannot offer any further comment at this stage, but we can confirm we are working very closely to assist Northumbria Police with their investigation."

Perhaps Mr Mantle should have a chat with Jared Leto about all the ear craziness that's been going on lately?

Best wishes go out to Clive Mantle for a speedy recovery!

James Franco talks hating on Hathaway: "It's just kind of fun"

James Franco has broken one of Anne Hathaway's rules, and quite possibly their recently repaired friendship too! The actor shared some theories on "Hatha-haters" during a recent chat with Howard Stern.

James Franco Anne Hathaway

Who better than James Franco to shed light on the new hate-on-Anne-Hathaway phenomenon? Much to the Oscar winner's frustration, her former co-host indulged in a coversation about "Hatha-haters" during a recent chat with Howard Stern.

"I'm happy to revisit this, but you're going to have to take the lead," the 34-year-old explained to his interviewer. "She does not want me talking about this, but okay."

"Everyone sort of hates Anne Hathaway, and I've explained that I do too and I don't know even know why sometimes," the shock-jock offered in an effort to get the discussion rolling.

"She's just so affected [and] actress-y that even when she wins an award she's out of breath, and then she has the standard joke that sounds like it's [been] written [for her]. And it all seems so scripted and acted."

James Franco is too trashy for his neighbors>>

Before James Franco weighed in, the ever-opinionated Howard Stern added, "She comes off like the goody two-shoes actress and it's just fun to sort of hate her. Hate is a strong word... but [I] dislike her, even though she is a great actress. Is that accurate?"

"I'm not an expert on — I guess they're called 'Hatha-haters' — but I think that's what maybe triggers it," the actor, who memorably bombed at the 2011 Academy Awards alongside the newlywed brunette, agreed.

Did Anne Hathaway have an Oscars-sized meltdown?>>

"We haven't talked in a while," the Spring Breakers star shared of his current relationship with the Les Miserables actress. "Anne and I made up, by the way. Let's just get that on the record."

"It was a really hard time after the Oscars," James Franco added. "She wasn't mad at me, I don't think... she didn't say she was mad at me for what happened... The critics were so nasty."

Are Howard Stern and James Franco right that it's "fun" to hate on Anne Hathaway?

The singer got a new toy and, according to his neighbor, was loud and unruly all night. But Bieber apparently didn't appreciate the feedback.

Justin Bieber

Justin Bieber’s recent bizarre behavior is continuing and now the singer could be in legal trouble after an incident that took place at his home early Tuesday morning.

Justin Bieber murder plotter is still plotting >>

TMZ originally reported that an altercation took place between Bieber and his neighbor when the neighbor came to his house to complain about loud parties that happen when the teen is out of town. But the website later reported the fight was actually over a new Ferrari.

"Bieber had the car delivered to his home last night on a flatbed truck ... and this morning, he was racing the vehicle up and down the streets," TMZ said. "Neighborhood sources tell us ... the neighbor was furious about the deafening noise AND felt Justin was endangering the community by tearing through the streets at breakneck speeds."

Selena Gomez: Justin Bieber's a crybaby! >>

According to the website, the neighbor showed up at Bieber’s house at 9 a.m. to talk about the situation, and that is when the two got into a fight.

Sources told TMZ Bieber asked the neighbor to leave, but had to get security to escort him off the property. The neighbor didn’t see it that way.

"Bieber's neighbor later filed a battery report, alleging that the 19-year-old singer made physical contact with him and threatened him," according to ABC News.

In the past few months, the Biebs has been acting very out of character and this isn't the first time he has been accused of battery.

"In January, Moshe Benabou, a bodyguard who claims to have worked for Bieber, filed a complaint against the pop star, and is seeking $421,261 for assault, battery and overtime fees," according to the Huffington Post. "Likewise, in May a photographer accused Bieber of battery; however after investigating, the Los Angeles DA's office declined to file criminal charges due to conflicting witness accounts and an overall lack of evidence."

Justin Bieber, if I was your mother... >>

Bieber's return home from his show in Poland also gave his female fans an eyeful. He went through airport security without a shirt . However, that is one move that was very much in character for the newly-single pop star.

So much for love: Kordell Stewart shocks wife Porsha Stewart with a harsh divorce filing on Friday that not only requests zero spousal support for Porsha but also insists that Kordell keep all of their marital assets.

Kordell Stewart files for divorce from Porsha Stewart.

NFL quarterback Kordell Stewart looks to have blindsided his wife, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Stewart, when he filed for divorce on Friday.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta recap: Booty production begins>>

While Kordell and Porsha's relationship was a source of continuous drama for the cameras and other cast members — who did not hesitate to voice their concern of Porsha's self-described "submissive" role in her marriage — Porsha gave no indication her love life was in serious trouble.

Kordell Stewart requested Porsha receive no spousal support. TMZ reports court documents state Porsha is "an able-bodied person, earning income and is capable of supporting herself." Porsha released a statement to the press just hours ago and expressed her shock and dismay at Kordell's decision to divorce.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kenya Moore calls out Kordell Stewart>>

"Mrs. Stewart is disappointed about her husband's recent filing for divorce," said her rep to omg! "Mrs Stewart held off on filing for divorce herself and remained committed to the marriage because Mr. Stewart promised to work on the marriage with her. Instead, he misled her and she found out about the filing in the media. Mrs. Stewart hopes to resolve these personal issues privately with the support of her family, friends and strong faith."

TMZ reports the court filings also indicate Kordell claims there are no martial assets to divide which suggests to TMZ that Kordell Stewart has a prenuptial agreement with Porsha.

White House Down has everything a blockbuster needs. Explosions? Check! The country in peril? Check! Channing Tatum with a gun wearing a tank top? Double check!

Channing Tatum

Oscar-winner Jamie Foxx channels his inner Barack Obama, while Channing Tatum does his best John McClane impersonation in White House Down. The trailer for Roland Emmerich's latest film has debuted online.

There are two things that Emmerich is good at: natural disasters and destroying the White House. Go watch 2012, The Day After Tomorrow and Independence Day for proof. This time, he's back in Washington DC and once again our freedom is threatened.

2012 blows up box office before New Moon premieres>>

In White House Down, Officer John Cale is initially denied the job of a lifetime — to protect the President of the United States . After the Secret Service passes on his application he takes his daughter to go on a tour of the White House. In an ironic twist, a mercenary group breaks in, takes over and it's up to Cale to save the President.

Bruce Willis celebrates 25 years of Die Hard>>

The film definitely falls in line with Emmerich's notable works. You can see bits and pieces of his previous films, as well as others like Die Hard, in this film. White House Down boasts an impressive cast including Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Richard Jenkins and James Woods.

Clarke plays the bad guy in the film, which will be a dramatic change from his role in Zero Dark Thirty. The actor is really coming into his own. He recently snagged the lead in the upcoming sequel, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.

Will Justin Timberlake host the 2014 Oscars?

$
0
0
Will Justin Timberlake host the 2014 Oscars? That's what some people would like you to believe, but hold the brakes, there is one thing they are forgetting.

JustinTimberlakeOscarsJustin Timberlake is probably one of the most popular figures in Hollywood these days. He has a new album out, he has an upcoming tour with Jay-Z and he's even being considered for the role of Daddy Warbucks in the reboot of Annie.

With all of those jobs on his plate, it's amazing that his name is being tossed in the ring for one more gig — host of the Academy Awards. The 2013 show with Seth MacFarlane has barely been laid to rest and already Oscar pundits are starting the rumors for the 2014 ceremony.

Here is the one thing that many Oscar watchers are forgetting though, it is the producers of the show who pick the host, not the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Until those producers are announced, which usually happens in the late summer or early fall, the host rumors will just be rumors.

Even with these facts at hand, it's fun to see that names like Timberlake are being thrown about because whether you liked MacFarlane or not this year, it created a buzz around the show. It's important to the Academy to keep their show as relevant as possible because it is a big moneymaker for them and ABC which broadcasts the ceremony.

According to Nielsen ratings, a million more people tuned in to see The Family Guy creator take the stage and sing "We Saw Your Boobs." The female audience in the coveted 18-49 age demographic also increased by 11 percent. After a few years of drooping ratings, this is exactly the direction in which the network wants to see viewership head.

Timberlake Tuesday: Is Justin the most supah-fly stud ev-er?>>

Once the producers are selected by the Academy, there is no doubt the heat around Timberlake will increase. He's talented, he's a singer, he's an actor and he's funny. All of these attributes are something that an Oscar host should have, along with a huge fan base.

The Academy can't miss with a selection like that. However, does Timberlake even want the job?

It's one of the hardest and most thankless jobs in the entertainment industry, with the criticism high and the accolades low. MacFarlane knew his time on the Oscar stage was a one-off, so he won't be returning.

The only other certainty is the date for next year's show which the Academy announced on Monday. In the meantime, we can just hope and speculate for a "Suit and Tie" opening number with Timberlake in 2014.

James Franco did not take Lindsay Lohan to bed

James Franco admitted on Howard Stern's show on Monday that he turned down an opportunity to bed Lindsay Lohan. It seems the actress' troubles weighed heavily on his mind.

JamesFrancoHowardSternappearanceHoward Stern certainly knows how to get the juiciest gossip out of the celebs that come and visit his radio show. James Franco's recent turn on the couch resulted in a few stories about Anne "Hatha-haters" Hathaway and the actor's encounter with Lindsay Lohan.

The Oz Great and Powerful star claimed on his Monday appearance on Stern's show that he turned down an opportunity to bed the troubled starlet.

Stern asked Franco straight out, "You turned down sex with Lindsay Lohan, didn't you? Back then, when she was a lot hotter?"

The 2011 Oscars host tried to deflect the question a bit with his response, "Oh, gosh. Poor Lindsay. I haven't talked to her in a while."

Reportedly, the two met through mutual friends years ago while he was staying at the Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood. The celebrity hot spot was a frequent partying location for Lohan in her heyday.

Of course, the shock jock wanted all of the details of how Franco said "no" to Lohan.

The 34-year-old actor replied, "I mean, I don't want to brag about it. I don't know how that got out."

It does seem that the actress' troubles definitely made the Oscar nominee think twice before accepting her advances.

Vanessa Hudgens' scary threesome with James Franco>>

He continued, "[She] was having issues even then, so you feel weird. Honestly, she was a friend. I've met a lot of people that are troubled and sometimes you don't want to do that."

The refreshing response from Franco shows that he didn't take the easy route with Lohan who has not been on the right path for years. Even her latest court appearances show a young woman who is unfocused and not ready to accept responsibility for her actions.

For single ladies who think the free-spirited Franco is just their type, the actor is actively out there dating.

He shared with Stern, "I'm getting older. I would like a long-term relationship."

Just not with Lohan.

Dionne Warwick files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy

Dionne Warwick filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last Thursday because her tax liability to the IRS and the state of California ballooned to over $10 million.

DionneWarwickbankruptcy

The April 15 tax deadline is looming for all Americans, but for Dionne Warwick, that deadline is looming large. Last Thursday, the legendary singer filed for bankruptcy in a New Jersey court.

Warwick filed for Chapter 7 because she owes close to $10 million in back taxes to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. The amount has ballooned over the years with additional penalties and interest.

Her tax troubles have been well-known in the entertainment industry. Back in 2009, her tax bill was approximately $2 million to the state of California alone.

The burden became too much for the 72-year-old. Her liabilities now include $7 million to the IRS for the years 1991 through 1999. She also owes more than $3 million to California for business taxes.

According to the Huffington Post, the filing states that her monthly income is $20,950 from royalties and retirement income. However, her total monthly expenses fall into the same range at $20,940. That leaves her a surplus of only $10 each month.

IRS seizes Lindsay Lohan's bank account>>

Warwick's publicist, Kevin Sasaki, said in an official statement, "In light of the magnitude of her tax liabilities, Warwick has repeatedly attempted to offer re-payment plans and proposals to the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board for taxes owed. These plans were not accepted, resulting in escalating interest and penalties. Although the actual amount of back taxes owed has been paid, the resulting penalties and interest has continually accrued."

Warwick is listing very few assests on the Chapter 7 filing, including two pairs of diamond earrings, two fur coats, gowns totaling $5,000 and 10-year-old furniture sets for her living room dining roomand bedroom.

Lauryn Hill seeks refugee status from IRS>>

She was last seen as a contestant on The Celebrity Apprentice back in 2011 and she appeared in the documentary, The Houstons: On Our Own, about the death of her cousin Whitney Houston.

Warwick is famous for her songs like "Walk On By,""I Say a Little Prayer," and "Do You Know the Way to San Jose."

Once Upon a Time spoilers: Moving to Neverland forever?

$

With casting starting for what could be the famed Lost Boys and Peter Pan, rumors are flying that we may see a lot more of Neverland than Storybrooke next season.

Once Upon a Time spoilers - moving to Neverland forever

Once Upon a Time is currently off on another hiatus until April 21. Though the series may not be running any new episodes for a few weeks, we've still got a lot of juicy spoilers to hold you over until then.

Beware: Spoilers for Once Upon a Time below — you have been warned!

Rumors are rampant right now about the show possibly leaving Storybrooke next season and heading to Neverland forever. Where is this coming from? Well, first of all, we just learned that Neal's fiancée is a woman who has been searching for magic for a very long time. We still don't know why yet, but we do know that she's working with Owen and there's no doubt that their intentions are anything but good. Could they be planning to steal magic from Storybrooke? If they do, could that mean that the people of Storybrooke may end up on the run and looking for a new place to live? Neverland sounds like as good a place as any.

Once Upon a Time recap: Retribution at last>>

There's also the fact that the titles of the final two episodes of the season come straight out of Peter Pan. With episodes called "Second Star to the Right" and "And Straight on Till Morning," how can we not predict that at least some of the characters are going to end up in Neverland for a long time?

Next up, we have news from Eonline that roles are being cast for three 16-year-old boys who are going to be part of what's described as a "sinister group." The tough leader of the group is Felix and his companions will be two boys who are identical twins. Reportedly, the roles could be recurring. So is it possible that these could be the famed Lost Boys? Could it also be that Felix will turn out to be Peter Pan? We don't have any details to back that up, so we're just going to call those guesses for now.

Finally, there's something that Robert Carlyle said in an interview with TVLine. He was talking about the relationship between Mr. Gold and Neal, saying that "it's going to take a while to get any kind of resolution on that. But in Episode 21 or 22, something happens which changes [their relationship] forever."

From that we can assume that something really huge is going to happen, and what could be more huge than everyone making a run for Neverland? Sure, the cast and creators have already admitted that everyone is going to visit Neverland at the end of this season. But Carlyle said what's going to happen will affect Gold and Neal "forever." Plus, we already know that Neal spent a lot of time in Neverland with Hook. If Neal's father were in danger, who's to say that he wouldn't find a way to bring everyone back there to keep them safe?

Work begins on Once Upon a Time spin-off>>

Right now this is just wild conjecture, but you have to admit that it's all possible on a show like Once Upon a Time. So what do you think of all the casting news and other tidbits about the end of this season? Do you think everyone is headed to Neverland in Season 3 or do you have other ideas of what might happen?

The Following sneak peek: "Whips and Regret"

Joe and his followers don't just plan on getting Claire back and living happily ever after. They have a deeper plot that involves a serial killer boot camp and weird men in cages.

Emma and Jacob in The Following

The next episode of The Following promises to get deeper and darker now that Joe Carroll has Claire back.

At least, that's what Roderick's hoping. He and Carroll don't seem to be on the same page, though, which could lead to a falling out between the two. Roderick wants to move on to bigger things, while Carroll tells Roderick he doesn't make decisions anymore. He even becomes violent with Roderick, punching him in the face. With Carroll and Roderick's relationship on the rocks, could this be Jacob's opportunity to step up as second in command?

Missed the last episode? Here's the recap >>

Jacob seems more interested in that than patching things up with Emma. Emma just wants Jacob to love her again. From the looks of Jacob's new attitude, however, he's more inclined to kill her. After his threat on last week's episode, we can't believe she's still trying.

Carroll is also working on his respective relationship. He wants Claire to love him again. Unlike Emma, Carroll seems a lot more confident Claire will come around. It appears as though he's withholding Joey until Claire becomes more compliant. Jacob tells her threateningly to make an effort. We see Claire dressed for dinner and meeting with Carroll. Our guess is she'll play nice until the cult gives her access to her son. Then she'll find a way to escape the house with Joey.

How The Following lured Kevin Bacon to TV >>

Even though Carroll isn't quite ready to unveil his full plans, he's still prepping for them. Hardy and his team uncover what appears to be a serial killer training ground in the form of an after-hours bar. According to show creator Kevin Williamson, as they raid the bar, they uncover the connection between it and the cult.

Williamson said this is one of the scarier episodes. We'll plan on sleeping with the light on.

"Me time" for moms: Hot stone massage

Every mom needs a little pampering now and then. After all, we have the hardest jobs on the planet. Next time you need a break, head to the spa for a massage. Instead of Swedish or deep tissue, consider a hot stone massage instead.

Hot stone massage

Most of us have had a massage of some sort or another, whether at a salon or at home, but have you tried hot stone massage? Hot stone massage is when the massage therapist heats stones and then places them in specific spots on your body to relax your muscles.

Origins of hot stone massage

Hot stone massage

Many Native Americans would warm stones on the fire and then use them to treat aching muscles. Some form of hot stone massage was also used in ancient Egypt and India. Nowadays, stones are generally warmed with hot water in an electric heating device until they reach the optimal temperature for this treatment.

The stones then are placed in key spots along your spine, between your toes, in the palms of your hands and elsewhere on your body. The massage therapist may also hold the hot stone in their hand while giving you a Swedish massage. Some say that a massage stroke with a hot stone is equivalent to 10 strokes without one.

Hot stone massage benefits

The hot stones relax your muscles and tissues to relieve stress and pain. Also, the stones can help your body to release toxins and improve circulation. Many therapists believe that hot stone massage can be used to treat much more than back pain or tension. Arthritis, circulatory problems and anxiety are oftentimes treated with this type of massage. Some research shows that hot stone massage can help with conditions such as insomnia, depression and even infertility.

Why "me time" is essential for your health>>

LaStone Therapy

You may have seen some spas advertising LaStone Therapy. This trademarked type of massage uses hot stones, as well as frozen or chilled marble stones. The hot and cold temperatures both stimulate and relax the circulatory system, promoting detoxification and movement of fluids in the body. This method was developed by massage therapist Mary Nelson of Tucson, Arizona in 1993. Therapists must be certified to perform this type of treatment. LaStone Therapy has a spiritual component too, as the therapist aims to open up the energy channels of the body.

Is hot stone massage right for you?

If you are a mom who is looking to relax, but you don't like the deep pressure of a traditional massage, then a hot stone massage may be the answer for you.

"Most moms are dealing with stress and tension on a daily basis."

Most moms are dealing with stress and tension on a daily basis. And as we get older, back pain, insomnia, poor circulation and even arthritis can become issues. If you are looking for a natural way to treat these conditions, then hot stone massage may be worth a shot.

If you have recently had surgery, are prone to blood clots or are pregnant, you should talk to your doctor before having any type of massage. If you have a rash, inflamed skin or open wounds, you also should refrain from massage until you are healed. If the stones feel too hot at any point during your massage session, be sure to let your therapist know immediately.

The cost of a hot stone massage varies from spa to spa and therapist to therapist, but you should expect to pay about $100-$150 for an hour session.

How to get rid of frizzy hair

One of the biggest beauty dilemmas is dry, frizzy hair. Sometimes it's easier to just pull your hair back and not deal with it, but it's a better idea to actually do something about it.

  • Condition it — Even if you don't shampoo every day, your hair needs daily conditioner — especially in dry weather. If you like a leave-in rather than an in-shower conditioner, try Living Proof No Frizz Leave-in Conditioner .
  • Stop rubbing it — Don't rub your hair vigorously with a towel when you step out of the shower. Instead blot it dry with a thick towel. Skip the blow dryer if you can, but if you don't have time to let it dry naturally, use a diffuser on your hair dryer to reduce heat damage.
  • Get it cut — To reduce split ends and frizzy hair, get a haircut often. A trim every six to eight weeks works best for most women.

"If your hair is looking dry and frizzy because of the weather , there are good products to help smooth it down," says Chris Padula, co-owner of The Beauty Parlour."For a quick fix, use a weightless styling creme like L'Oreal Texture Expert Smooth Essence. This product should be every girl's best friend."

Spring into a new hair color

Take your look from drab to fab with new hair color for spring. This season, it is all about showing off gorgeous hairstyles with a bright and noticeable color.

"Bold and rich hair is going to be a bigger hit this spring than natural and subtle colors, so it is a great time to have some fun and try something new and exotic," explains Maira Padula, also co-owner of The Beauty Parlour. "Nature seldom gives us better rich color than a bottle, so for those looking to experiment with hair color, now is a good time to get started. Also, move away from abrupt heavy styles and move toward something a bit lighter, looser... and more carefree."

Make waves

You don't have to spend all day in the bathroom with a flat iron and a blow dryer. What mom has time for that? What you should do is make the most of what you have. If you have naturally curly hair, embrace it, and if you have stick-straight locks, learn to love your style too. Talk to your stylist about a haircut that works with your natural waves .

For special occasions — like date night with your hubby — you can spend a little extra time on your hair. If you want gorgeous wavy locks, Chris Padula offers these tips.

"Invest in some medium sized Velcro rollers, some long metal rollers and a great volumizer. After you get out of the shower, towel dry your hair as much as possible so you do not dilute the product. Spray a few sections of your crown at the root with the volumizer for body and then just dust the ends with the same product to attain some control.

Then, with a blow dryer, roughly dry all of your hair, concentrating on the roots. When your hair is about 95-98 percent dry, put in the rollers. You don't have to get too precise with how you place them... if you have a good cut, the shape will do the hard work for you. Once the rollers are in place, dry your hair that last little bit while it is on the rollers. It is very important to let your hair cool on the rollers . With minimum fuss, your hair should have some nice bouncy, flirty waves when you take it down. Give it a shake and you're ready to go!"

You love your kids, but sometimes they drive you to the edge of sanity. It would be great to hire a regular babysitter, but your budget is just too tight these days. Have you considered enlisting the assistance of a mother’s helper?

How to find a good mother's helper

What is a mother's helper?

A mother's helper is a little different than a nanny or babysitter because she assists the family while one or both parents are still at home. Mother's helpers can help with childcare, laundry, cooking, cleaning or other household chores. The best part about a mother's helper is that because a responsible parent is still at home, the pay is significantly less than that of a nanny or babysitter. Oftentimes, young girls who are not quite full-fledged babysitting age will work as mother's helpers in order to gain skills and training for future babysitting positions.

Mother's helper job responsibilities

Mother's helpers can be asked to do a variety of household chores. Do you work from home? Hire a mother's helper to entertain your children while you finish up important projects that require more concentration than you can achieve while you have a 2-year-old hanging from your ankles.

Household chores getting you down? Ask your mother's helper to pitch in and together you'll knock out an enormous amount of work in no time at all. Do you homeschool? How about asking your mother's helper to play with your toddlers while you do lessons with your older children? There are many ways that you can tailor your mother's helper to the specific needs of your family.

Real help

Victoria Hudson, mother of two toddlers, talks about her mother's helper experience: "As a work-at-home mom with two little ones in the house, I was going crazy. I would try to work and the kids would be climbing all over the computer. I wanted to hire a part-time nanny or babysitter, but the rates were completely out of my price range. Then a friend suggested that I hire a mother's helper. I found a wonderful girl who lives just down the street from us. She comes over for a couple of afternoons each week and it has made all the difference!"

How to train your mother's helper

If you choose a young mother's helper that is just learning the ropes, it will be your responsibility to train her to assist your family in a way that is most useful to you. Don't think of this as a drawback. While you will have to put in a little more time and effort in the beginning to teach her how to do certain chores, on the positive note, she is coming to you with a learning attitude and she should be happy to follow your instructions.

Don't be shy. Tell your mother's helper exactly what your family's needs are and give her detailed instructions on how she can help. Don't just say, "Please entertain the children while I work." Instead, describe exactly what your expectations are. "I'd like you to play with the children while I finish this project. I will need approximately two hours. Please take them out in the backyard where they can play with the sprinkler or in the sandbox. If they get hungry, clean them off outside and then bring them into the kitchen for a snack."

How to find a mother's helper

The best way to find a mother's helper is to utilize the connections you have in your own community. Ask around at church, playgroup, the YMCA, Zumba class, knitting circle, etc. Most moms of tweens are eager to help their daughters gain babysitting skills before they reach legal babysitting age. Arrange a time to talk with your potential mother's helper and her parents to make sure everyone is in agreement before you start working together.

Mother's helper compensation

Depending on how much training they need, compensation can vary widely for mother's helpers. If you are the first family she has assisted, $3 per hour is a generous rate. As time goes on and your mother's helper reaches legal babysitting age, you will want to raise her rate to at least minimum wage or whatever the going rate is in your community.

Once your mother's helper becomes a full-fledged babysitter, you can also feel confident to leave her with your children while you leave the house. This is also a wonderful way to gain trust in a babysitter before leaving her with her children, because you can really get to know someone while you are in the home together.

Says mother of three Tania Turner, "I am so pleased with our mother's helper! She started working with us when she was only 11 and she helps out with everything around the house. She has always had a great attitude and the kids love her. Now she is 14 and she is a babysitter for lots of families in our neighborhood. But she always works for us first because we have such a close relationship thanks to our mother's helper experience."

Vehicle 19: Paul Walker is back in the driver's seat!

Paul Walker's new car movie Vehicle 19 pulls into theaters June 14.

Fasten your seatbelts! Blue-eyed bad boy Paul Walker returns to theaters playing a foreign traveler who gets tangled up in police corruption in Vehicle 19. It seems that his Fast and Furious movies have steered him into the driver's seat of this new thriller where he is in for the ride for his life.

The opening scene is the same old story we've heard for centuries from guys: "Angie, it'll be different this time." OK, Paul, but just because we love you so much! I guess part of his karma was picking the wrong rental car with a hidden body tied up and a concealed weapon inside. You're not in Kansas anymore, Paul. There's no use flexing your muscle car in South Africa. Paul's character Michael Woods ends up in the wrong place at the wrong time and this time he has to drive on the right side of the car. As the song from Cops says, "Bad boys bad boys, watchya gonna do when they come for you?" Instead of playing good cops the police are the bad boys this time.

There are lots of speeding cars and stunts that will keep you on the edge of your seats and, since this is a movie, there are no driving rules or speeding tickets! The faster Michael goes, the safer he is. He's a man with nothing to lose, except his life. I don't think we will ever see a movie where Paul Walker is following the speed limit.

If Paul Walker continues his driving career in films, why not call up Ryan Gosling from Drive before he takes a break from acting! That would definitely start some heart palpitations. Another reason why we love Paul Walker is his philanthrophic efforts in supporting the "Love the Ocean" campaign. Must be why you can see the ocean in those blue eyes.

Vehicle 19 finally parks in theaters June 14.

When Smash star Debra Messing was cast in a CBS sitcom pilot, fans thought the writing was on the wall for the NBC series' fate. But Debra sat down exclusively with SheKnows to give us the scoop!

Everything is coming up roses for Debra Messing! We caught up with her in NYC, where she was on hand for the Macy's Flower Show with Zyrtec, to get the scoop on Smash's future and her brand-new CBS pilot.

Fans of the NBC show should be happy to hear that it's still got a shot, despite a scheduling switch. "We have no idea what is happening with Smash," she told SheKnows exclusively. "We know that it's moving to Saturday night at 9 and that they're going to run the entire season, and so we're thrilled about that. And now we're just waiting."

It was announced this week that Debra is set to star in a new CBS pilot, leading many to believe that Smash was officially kaput. But the actress says the NBC series is her first priority.

"Everyone knows that if Smash is picked up, then that's where I'll be," she explains. So it's a backup plan of sorts... but either way, the former Will & Grace star is excited to show off her comedic chops once again.

"I'm ready to laugh again!" she told us, adding that the new CBS pilot is an import from overseas. "It's based on a successful show in Israel. It's the same production that brought Homeland and In Treatment from Israel to America so they've got a great track record. It follows a mom who works, who is just trying to do it all, like we all are. But I think it's a really fresh look at modern motherhood."

As for her favorite part of filming two seasons of Smash, Debra says it's the musical numbers she gets to experience. "Just the singing and dancing — it's so joyful and inspiring to me," she shared. Funny, we thought it might be meeting her current love interest and former co-star Will Chase on set!
