Did Selena Gomez Have a Panic Attack During Her AMAs Performance?

$

There's no question that something seemed a little off about Selena Gomez's performance at the 2017 AMAs this weekend. It was an emotional performance, to be sure. She was carried onstage by dancers who were acting out a kidnapping, while she was dressed in just a white slip with fake blood on her knees. But what was really strange about it was the expression on Gomez's face. She looked a little...lost? Scared? Anxious, maybe?

People were quick to call her out afterwards for lip-syncing, and I can see why people would have jumped to that conclusion. But now, more news is coming out and it appears that Gomez's off night may have been due to something much more serious.

"There was a rumor that Selena had a panic attack during her performance, we don't know how true this is but could be why she looked sad throughout," a Gomez fansite tweeted soon after she performed. "No matter what we are grateful for everything she has done."

The rumors are unclear about whether Gomez suffered this alleged panic attack onstage during her performance or right before, but either way, fans are jumping to her defense, praising her for performing through what was clearly a difficult situation for her, regardless of the reason.

Gomez herself has not addressed the rumors, but did take to Instagram to thank her fans for their support after her performance.

"Thank you guys! We did it! Thank you to my best friend Petra [Collins] for helping me bring it to life," she wrote. Gomez has since deleted that post, just adding to the confusion about what exactly happened at the AMAs.

Hilarie Burton Describes Her Scary Encounters With a One Tree Hill Showrunner

Updated Nov. 20, 2017, 9:05 a.m. PT: Hilarie Burton, one of One Tree Hill's most famous stars and the woman who was groped by Ben Affleck on live TV, is now further detailing the ways she says One Tree Hill showrunner Mark Schwahn assaulted her.

In an interview with Variety, Burton said Schawhn forced himself on her several times, twice kissing her without her permission, and once putting his hand down her pants while she was at a concert with him and his wife. One of the kissing incidents happened in a limo, she said, while she and Schwahn were discussing the show's upcoming season. The second time was at a wrap party for a shoot, when she says he kissed her at a bar.

"Right on the mouth. It was something I had to get out of. It wasn’t a peck. It wasn’t ‘Hey, sis, how’s your day?’ It was a boyfriend kiss," Burton said.

In addition to those incidents, Burton described how Schwahn created an environment on set where people were verbally abusive, and women were pitted against one another.

Original story:

One Tree Hill was pretty much required viewing for all millennials. Little did we know that behind the scenes, showrunner Mark Schwahn created an allegedly abusive environment that some of the stars are still struggling to move past today.

Over the weekend, Audrey Wauchope, a writer on the show, claimed in a series of tweets that she was sexually harassed while working on One Tree Hill. Wauchope never named Schwahn, but on Monday, 18 of the show's former female cast and crew members — including Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton and Bethany Joy Lenz — published an open letter claiming Schwahn harassed and abused them.

"Many of us were, to varying degrees, manipulated psychologically and emotionally," the letter read. "More than one of us is still in treatment for post-traumatic stress. Many of us were put in uncomfortable positions and had to swiftly learn to fight back, sometimes physically, because it was made clear to us that the supervisors in the room were not the protectors they were supposed to be."

In the letter, the women claimed that Schwahn's treatment of them was "deeply upsetting, to traumatizing, to downright illegal," and that they were put into positions that they felt were "physically unsafe."

The letter has been met with overwhelming support from the male stars of One Tree Hill, who have been taking to social media to stand with their costars and colleagues.

Bohemian Baby Names for Little Free Spirits

Hoping to raise a child of the Age of Aquarius who's open-minded and creative and a true free spirit? Well, sorry to break it to you, but they might end up a conservative working in finance. Oh well. The best you can do is instill a love of art, nature, humankind and peace in your kid and hope for the best — that and maybe give them a name with a bohemian vibe. It couldn't hurt!

Bohemian baby names may not be the most popular choices, but they're not entirely unheard of either. In fact, some names that may be considered avant-garde have featured in the U.S. top baby name lists in recent years — many of the examples below appeared in the top 100 baby names in 2016.

What does a bohemian name entail, anyway? Well, it means whatever you want it to mean: old-fashioned and whimsical, artsy and offbeat or chic and fresh. Whatever type of bohemian name you choose, these suggestions will definitely set your kid apart from the Emmas and Williams of their class.

If you're still struggling to come up with a creative name, just look in some creative places. Think about books you've read and films or TV programs you've watched: What unusual names stood out? Cadence from American Wedding? Aria from Pretty Little Liars? Calliope from Grey's Anatomy?

You might be surprised to find inspiration in possibly the least bohemian book around: the Bible. In the Old Testament, the name Delilah, which means "delight," was given to the temptress who tricked Samson into revealing the secret behind his strength.

Another way to tap into the unconventional is to take a more traditional name and consider its nicknames or alternatives — Cora or Coral from Caroline or Catrine instead of Catherine. When you think about it, there's offbeat name inspiration pretty much everywhere you look; we're confident you'll find just the right one for your soon-to-be beat poet (or whoever your sweet kiddo turns out to be).

Lena Dunham's Employee Quits, Cites Her 'Hipster Racism'

The fallout continues after Lena Dunham released a statement of support for a Girls writer who was accused by an actress of sexual assault. Amid backlash, Dunham retracted that statement and apologized (although her apology still made it pretty clear she still stood by the writer, Murray Miller).

More: Why Lena Dunham's Time 100 Dedication to Constance Wu Is Problematic

Now, one of Dunham's most prolific writers for her online newsletter, Lenny Letter, has quit, citing Dunham's response to this scandal, but also accusing Dunham of racism.

In a statement posted to Twitter, writer Zinzi Clemmons said Dunham is "well-known" for her "hipster racism." Clemmons said she knew Dunham and many of her friends, including Girls star Jemima Kirk, when they were all students.

"Back in college, I avoided those people like the plague because of their well-known racism," she wrote. "I'd call their strain 'hipster racism' which typically uses sarcasm as a cover, and in the end, it looks a lot like gaslighting — 'It's just a joke. Why are you overreacting?' is a common response to these kinds of statements."

Clemmons continued, "In Lena's circle, there was a girl who was known to use the N word in conversation in order to be provocative, and if she was ever called on it, she would say, 'It's just a joke.' I was often in the same room with her, but I never spoke to her, only watched her from afar in anxiety and horror."

This is far from the first time Dunham has been accused of racism. She's long been criticized for her white feminism, which many say ignores the intersecting oppressions experienced by women of color.

You Can Save the Oil After Frying a Turkey, but You Gotta Do It the Right Way

$

Frying a turkey isn't really the traditional method of cooking a Thanksgiving bird, but it does give it an awesome crispy skin and juiciness that is through the roof. Still, a lot of us seem to avoid the whole deep-frying situation because of the terrifying tales of Thanksgiving Day explosions — and the fact that the process requires a whole grip of oil. We're talking 3 to 5 gallons. And oil doesn't grow on trees. That ish is expensive.

The good news is you can recycle the oil you use to fry your turkey, so you can get at least a little something back on your oil investment — there are just a couple of simple rules of thumb to follow so it's safe to use.

More: How to Cook a Perfectly Roasted Turkey

Choose the right oil

First of all, it's important to buy your oil with reuse in mind. According to The National Turkey Federation, only oils that have high smoke points should be used — they suggest peanut, refined canola, corn oil, rice oil and sunflower oil. An oil's smoke point is the temperature at which it begins to break down and create irritating smoke, according to Livestrong.com. Exceeding an oil's smoke point can cause the oil to be harmful if consumed.

Here's a tip to make sure you haven't passed the smoke point threshold: When you're heating your oil to fry your turkey, monitor the temperature regularly to ensure it doesn't exceed its smoke point. Safflower and cottonseed oil smoke at 450 degrees F. Canola oil smokes at 437 degrees F. Soybean, peanut and corn oil smoke at 410 degrees F.

Most recipes call for peanut oil because of the flavor it imparts, but you'll have to make sure none of your guests have a peanut allergy if that's the route you choose.

Filter your oil after use

After the oil cools overnight in a covered pot, strain the cooled oil through a fine strainer, then filter the oil through a fine cheesecloth or coffee filter. Filtration is especially important if you have used seasonings or breading on the turkey you fried.

More: The Do’s & Don'ts of Carving a Turkey — 9 Tips for the Perfect Bird

Oil storage

Used oil should always be covered and refrigerated to prevent it from going rancid. Though peanut oil is the one most commonly used for frying up a turkey, it's also the most perishable of the oils and must be kept cold if you plan to keep it longer than a month. You can also freeze it to extend the shelf life even longer.

Used oil will thicken and become cloudy when chilled but return to its original consistency when reheated. The oil will also develop a cloudy appearance that could remain when brought back to room temperature and will only clear up temporarily while heated.

Proceed with caution when using refrigerated oil. One ChowHound user reported a scary situation while reheating cold oil.

"My mom put a saucepan full of oil on the stove straight from the fridge and as it heated it went up like an atomic bomb onto the ceiling," they wrote. "No one got hurt but soooo dangerous! It must be left out till room temperature when using large quantities that are cold."

Shelf life

Most oils may remain in the refrigerator for several months or until signs of deterioration begin.

Peanut oil can usually be used three or four times to fry turkeys before it shows signs of going bad, according to the Texas Peanut Producers Board via The National Turkey Federation. Watch for foaming, darkening or smoking excessively — these are all signs that your oil has gone rancid and needs to be discarded. Other signs of bad oil include a rancid smell and/or failure to bubble when food is added.

Sara Ramirez Gives Fans Hope for a Grey's Anatomy Return

Pretty much since the moment she left the show, Grey's Anatomy fans have been clamoring for Sara Ramirez to return. In the 10 years she starred as Dr. Callie Torres, she was a fan-favorite character — and for good reason too. Callie was not only one of the most visibly and proudly bisexual characters on TV during her run, but she was a badass woman to cheer for.

More: Grey's Anatomy's 300th Episode Will Be Full of "Ghosts" From the Past

But could she actually return to Grey's Anatomy? The current season has already been full of surprises, and if Ramirez does return, it will also be somewhat unexpected. But fans shouldn't rule it out, because Ramirez hasn't denied a return to the show just yet. Instead, she's teased it, voicing her excitement to appear on the show should Shonda Rhimes ask her to do so.

"When Shonda [Rhimes] and I last spoke, we agreed to keep the conversations going, and she knows I’m open to keeping those conversations going," Ramirez told Entertainment Weekly about the possibility of a return.

But that's all she's saying about that. We'll all just have to continue wondering if this is wishful thinking or if Callie and Penny might have another shot at love one day.

More: Grey's Anatomy Pissed Off Fans With Callie's Low-Key Send-Off

What Ramirez does know, though, is that she made the right decision in leaving Grey's to focus on LGBTQ activism.

"It has been a really full year and a half," she explained. "Taking a step back from the industry has allowed me to take space and get even more clear about things that are important to me. Coming out publicly was an organic decision and one that I spent a lot of energy and time making. It was incremental, not a spur-of-the-moment decision."

Ramirez continued, "By the time the Orlando shooting happened, especially in the context of the political climate escalating, I felt an urgency around coming out publicly in ways that I haven’t felt before. This past year and a half has taught me how to embrace myself fully, to never ever be afraid to claim my truth and power in spaces, and that bisexual, pansexual, queer-identified women of color, of all genders, or no genders, deserve to exist fully and equally in any and every space with respect to our visibility, representation, dignity, and various intersecting identities."

Please Do Not Put VapoRub in Your Vagina

$

In the latest strange "health" trend of 2017, people are reportedly using Vicks VapoRub — an ointment and topical medicine primarily used to relieve coughs, nasal congestion and muscle aches and pains — on their vaginas. Whether to soothe itches, bring down swelling, cure thrush or boost sex drive, medical professionals warn against using VapoRub for anything other than its intended use.

Dr. Senait Fisseha, an obstetrician-gynecologist and professor at the University of Michigan, explains that using Vicks VapoRub can impact the vagina in significant ways.

More: 8 Things Your Vagina Is Telling You

“[The] vagina is extremely sensitive,” she explains. “It’s important to do a risk-benefit analysis of scientific data. The harm outweighs the benefits.”

When it comes to using VapoRub to treat infections, itchiness and swelling, Fisseha advises against this.

“[VapoRub is] topical and not meant to go into the system,” she says. “The vaginal mucosa is very sensitive and vascular and chemicals can cause damage by negatively impacting the natural flora. As the vagina is absorbent, these chemicals can be absorbed into the body’s system.”

For instance, for those who consider VapoRub a viable solution to something like vaginal thrush — a common yeast infection — it’s best to err on the side of safety and seek a prescription straight from a medical professional instead.

And the common cold product should not be used to mask any smells.

“The vagina is self-cleaning and should not have a strong odor,” says Fisseha. “There are normal bacteria present in the vagina that protect it from infection.”

Bottom line: If you are considering using VapoRub on the vagina — don't.

The power couple celebrated 17 years since they tied the knot, and to commemorate the occasion, Zeta-Jones posted the sweetest message to Douglas alongside a throwback picture from their 2000 wedding at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

"17 years ago today, I said ‘I do’ to my best friend and father of our two and a half month old son," Zeta-Jones wrote. "Thought it could never get better than that day, but it did. Happy anniversary darling, Michael. With you, in my life, and Dylan and Carys, every day could be a twelve hour fantastic party at the Plaza in New York. Love you. #love #lovestrong."

Diana Ross's Grandkids Were the Real Stars of the AMAs

The iconic Diana Ross may have won the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2017 American Music Awards on Sunday, but her grandkids — led by grandson Ryan — definitely won the internet. At the event, plenty of glitterati, including the Obamas via a recorded message, praised Ross lavishly for her dazzling career. President Obama quipped, "When we heard Diana Ross was getting the Lifetime Achievement Award, our first reaction was, 'She doesn't have it yet?'"

Stellar actor (and Ross's daughter) Tracee Ellis Ross was on hand to present her mother with the award at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Diana's son, Evan, was also there to introduce his famous mom: "What do you get when you cross a chart-topping singer, breathtaking beauty, captivating actress, trailblazing style icon, record-breaking pioneer, legendary megastar, international superstar and an all-around boss? Everybody, you get my mom. Miss Diana Ross."

Nice going, kids. But Twitter really only had eyes for Ross' grandkids, who boogied down onstage in celebration with Grandma. Diana's victory lap started as a solo performance of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and ended in a grand-diva-plus-grandchildren dance party on live TV. Not too shabby, Ross clan. Check out the clips (and tweets) below.

The grandkids started off wiggling in the audience. Jagger, daughter of Evan Ross and Ashlee Simpson — who knew? I DID NOT KNOW —  was shy and stayed in her dad's arms. But her older bro, Bronx, and her cousin Ryan started shimmying pretty hard. And when Grandma Ross beckoned for her grandchildren to come up on stage, they needed no further persuasion.

The kiddos even pulled a (nice) Kanye. Ross, accepting her award, said, "This is all about love," and grandson Ryan immediately Kanye'd the mic to say, "Grandma, I love you and I'm so proud of you." I mean, come on. Killing it clearly runs in the family.

Spoiler: That's Not Actually Serena Williams’ Baby in Her Latest Ad

Hey, even a baby needs a day off once in awhile. Especially if said baby is Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. — tennis icon Serena Williams' daughter. Though Alexis was primed for her big screen debut as the costar in a Gatorade ad with her mom, the almost-3-month old had to bow out when she got sick. No prob: When you're Alexis Olympia, you've got a stunt double lined up at all times.

"While Serena intended to have Olympia make her screen debut as part of this film, her daughter was under the weather and unable to be on set, but the sentiment remains the same," a Gatorade spokeswoman wrote to publication AdAge via email.

Other than that small blip, the commercial filming went on as planned: It features Williams cuddling a Baby Alexis lookalike.

The video is still fab, though we admit we can't wait for Alexis Olympia to get better and take her rightful place as Most Famous Baby in Commercials Ever. In the ad, Williams tells her "daughter" that she doesn't mind if she plays tennis badly — as long as she keeps playing sports. Williams also talks about the great things she's found in athletics, from courage to bonding with her teammates to learning to set goals for herself. The commercial also shows photos of other inspiring women playing various sports as kids — including Girls star Allison Williams and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki. The girl-power campaign — supported by Gatorade and PepsiCo — is trending on Twitter: #SistersinSweat.

Williams tweeted, "There are so many reasons to quit, but even more to keep playing. Even if you don’t go pro, sports can teach you so much. So keep playing."

We're on board with these #SistersinSweat for sure. And we hope future athlete Alexis Olympia feels better soon so we can see her make her debut (outside her crazy cute Instagram account, that is). Maybe baby Alexis partied a little too hard at her parents' wedding on Thursday in New Orleans? The event was commemorated with many emotions by her dad, Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian.

Whoa — a Radio Station Is Advertising a Baby as a Contest Prize

$
0
0

While most radio show call-in contests have prizes like concerts and movie screenings, one Florida station is giving away something else: The possibility of a baby.

Technically, 103.9 FM in Fort Myers, Florida — the station behind the giveaway — is advertising it as a “Win a Baby” contest. But it’s important to point out that this name is misleading: Whoever wins this contest isn’t handed a fully formed human baby child that is theirs for keeps. In actuality, the radio station will cover the costs of one round of IVF (retail value: approximately $20,000) for one couple struggling with infertility. There is no guarantee this will result in a baby. In fact, there is a 29.5 percent live-birth rate for the first cycle of IVF.

And this isn’t a giveaway to the 100th caller: In order to be considered for the prize, a couple must make a four-minute video that, according to the contest’s official rules, “will be judged on the content of the story and the compelling manner in which each video entry tells the story of the entrants and their desire for a baby as solely determined by the judges.”

More: Knowing When to Draw the Line on Fertility Treatments

The contest stems from the experience of one of the radio station’s hosts — Jason “Big Mama” Jones — who along with his wife is attempting IVF to conceive at a fertility clinic called IVFMD in Naples, Florida. According to the station’s website, “now they want to take a lucky couple on this amazing journey of in vitro fertilization.” If you want to enter, you need to be at least 21 years old and reside in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades, Hendry, Sarasota or Manatee counties in the Fort Myers area. Contestants must upload their videos by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 24.

While at first, this may appear to be a strange, even ethically dubious, contest, it’s actually not that far-fetched. For instance, people have been turning to other nontraditional ways of covering IVF expenses, like using crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe or Kickstarter.

The contest shares a common trait with these fertility treatment crowdfunding campaigns: The creation and presentation of a compelling narrative to prove why they deserve to be parents. This does have the potential to become problematic, as couples in both circumstances may feel the need to prove they’re the “perfect victim” — in other words, that they’ve done everything right medically and financially, but despite that still can’t afford their dream of having children. It also excludes those who may not have the means to create a winning video.

Along the same lines, it’s important to keep in mind that while technology surrounding assisted reproduction is always advancing, it’s still financially out of reach for many. Is giving people the option of having their IVF expenses covered by winning a radio contest really that problematic?

Again, it doesn’t solve existing inequities in the health care system or even guarantee the winning couple will walk away with a baby, but it might mean that two people who would like to be biological and genetic parents get that opportunity.

Jaime King Hears Your Body-Shaming, & It Hurts

Jaime King is here for women. When it comes to finding the right balance between work life, home life and caring for oneself, working on projects that speak uniquely to issues women face or even pointing out harmful comments in an attempt to get others to see that it's not right, King has made it her personal mission to dispel the negativity aimed at women and lift herself and other women up in the process. Sure, she may not do it perfectly or she may not feel like she's getting it right 100 percent of the time, but she's human; it happens. Regardless of this, it's clear from the work she does on camera and the way she lets us into her world on social media that her voice is strong and clear and yes, she's here to lift all women up.

This idea became increasingly clear when King sat down with SheKnows in person to speak about her new film, Bitch (it's in theaters now!). In the film, King plays the sister of the film's protagonist, a wife and mother who snaps under the pressures of motherhood and soon begins acting like a vicious dog. The film, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, is a darkly comic look at what happens when one woman's psyche is finally torn apart as the expectations of her gender roles grow too heavy to bear. For King, the message and themes of Bitch are incredibly important, especially as they relate to the unique issues women of today face.

More: Paris Jackson Takes Naked Selfie to Promote Body Positivity

"When Marianna [Palka, the film's director] wrote Bitch and how timely it was, it wasn't like we were trying to put out this thing that has this very left message or feminist message. It's a holistic film about love. It's really pro-family," King explained. She continued, "That's [what it's] really about, really looking at ourselves by taking that word, bitch, and they hear that title and they're like, 'Are you the bitch?' and I'm like, 'That's why it's a great title' because of course, they think that's the ultimate insult. One of the women in the film has to be a bitch. And so, it's so fascinating to see, between the first act and the end, to see this guy, his transformation, that we can all relate to."

But Bitch is not the first time King has had to interact with barbed words directed at her or about her gender and find a way to nullify them. It becomes clear while talking with her that King is uniquely aware of her position in the entertainment industry as a model, actor, wife, mother and woman. All roles subject her to an unfair amount of scrutiny and frequently that takes the form of body-shaming comments.

At one point in our chat with King, she recalled when those body-shaming comments, the easiest barbs for the public to throw, really got under her skin. It began with the unveiling of her new collaboration with the fashion line For Love and Lemons.

"The other day, I posted this video of this collection I worked on for two years. It's a collaboration with For Love and Lemons and I'm so excited about it and I wanted to collaborate. I've had this dream since I was 18. I've always wanted to create a collection for every race and every size because growing up in the fashion industry, I would see all of my black girlfriends and all of my girlfriends of color always struggling with things, things that people would never get [...] not to mention bigotry and discrimination," King explained.

She continued, describing how her own changing body influenced the collection as well as her aforementioned concerns with creating something for women of all races. "I remember when I turned 18, all of a sudden I had a completely different body, and then in my 20s, I was 60 pounds heavier (I had endometriosis that was undiagnosed), and it was like, I wanted to create this collection that was for every single woman. I was adamant about it."

Jamie King Body Shaming Instagram

But as soon as King posted the video online, instead of seeing celebratory comments, she was met with criticisms about her own appearance. What should have been an exciting time for her was undercut by the negativity pouring out from others. "So as soon as I posted this video of myself in full-brief underwear and this little top, [the commenters are] like, 'You're anorexic. You need to get help. You need to eat a cheeseburger. This is disgusting. You're unhealthy. This would never fit a size 6,'" she said. "It was like someone just took a dagger."

King's reaction was, of course, understandable given the criticism; it hurt and it hurt her deeply. "I was just like, isn't it interesting that I spent two years and half of my life dreaming of making a collection for everybody and the first thing people are doing is judging that I'm too thin, that I'm ugly. I'm too skinny, that I'm promoting something that's unhealthy when I do yoga every day or when my diseases actually affect my body weight."

More: No One Should Shame Women for Having Plastic Surgery — Including the President

And here, it becomes clear King wants people to take a step back and hopefully see that the words they use carry weight and meaning, and often they are used to talk about a person or situation they know nothing about. "The way that these autoimmune diseases — the endometriosis, the PCOS that I have — the way that it burns the calories in my body and the way that I eat [...] it's like I can't win. Like I was called 'fat' when I was [one] weight and 'too skinny' when I was at this weight. It doesn't matter who you are, that hurts," she told SheKnows.

"It's just really interesting to see what happens when you live in your authenticity. It's not easy to be living in your authenticity all the time or to be as outspoken as I am because I don't feel like I'm the first person to speak out about these things," she notes.

And whenever she gets too worried about speaking up or being honest and real with others, she reminds herself of this one very true thing: "I'm like, 'There's a reason why I'm saying it in the first place. There's a reason why I'm saying it, and it's because I don't want people to feel alone in this world."

Drew Scott and Linda Phan are in the final months of wedding prep and the excitement is palpable. In a new interview with People magazine, Scott and Phan detail their wedding requirements as well as the various reasons they're beyond excited to finally get hitched.

One of the first big reveals from their exclusive interview are the wedding requirements. Seeing as the pair have planned a destination wedding in Italy (so dreamy!), it turns out that the wedding requirements are very Italian but very also very necessary.

"We’re looking at somewhere where we can chow down on pizza, pasta and gelato. Those are the requirements," Phan told People. This is a woman after my own heart because I, too, have those same wedding requirements. How 'bout that?

While Scott and Phan haven't found a wedding venue yet, they are looking into sites with plenty of history — a fairly easy get when you go to Italy. Their ideal spot? A historical castle, of course.

Scott's excitement about getting married practically radiates off the page in this People interview, especially when he comments about just how creative he's open to getting for his big day. Luckily, it sounds like Phan is cool with him getting creative too.

"This is our big day—we can do whatever we want!" Scott said, "One of the things that I love about Linda is that she’s with me in that sense. If I want to wear a gold leotard, I’ll do it. We’re not ones to have a basic white wedding." Okay, well, I'm not sure how well a gold leotard would look in the middle of a historic Italian castle, but you're the design expert; I trust you.

With Scott's Dancing With the Stars duties officially done, it looks like he's in full wedding planning mode with Phan, which is totally exciting. Tamera Mowry-Housley Gets Real About Parenting

Actor and entrepreneur Tamera Mowry-Housley currently cohosts The Real, where she comments on real issues parents face every day. She is also a brand ambassador for Huggies GoodNites.

You may know that I'm one of the hosts of The Real, and one of the things I love about doing the show is that I get to do just that: get real. So I want to get real with you about some of the very real challenges of parenthood — because all parents experience challenges, and we all experience them differently. Don't get me wrong: There’s nothing I love more than being a mom to my two kids. But any parent will tell you this is not a job for the faint of heart, especially when it comes time for potty training.

More: Stop Telling Me to Predict My Toddler's Tantrums

My son Aden is turning 5 this November, and my little girl Ariah is 2. They’re both at such fun ages and are really starting to show their little personalities. Aden loves playing outside and is completely obsessed with games and sports. Ariah has this amazing and completely contagious spirit that puts me in a good mood no matter what. I also love seeing her relationship with my husband, Adam — she is such a daddy’s girl! My kids are definitely a handful sometimes, but we are just so excited to watch them grow and achieve each milestone — even if we’re a little sleep-deprived in the meantime.

One milestone in particular that Aden and I reached together this year was potty training. Potty training during the day was actually fairly straightforward for us; we started once he was showing signs of readiness and did it together every step of the way. The hardest part was that Aden was still experiencing wetness at night. I was so surprised and confused; I had thought we'd done a great job with potty training. I started to wonder, "What have I done wrong?"

I won’t lie. Aden's nighttime wetting completely caught me off guard, so much so that I began questioning myself as a parent. No one really talks about this stuff, so Adam and I wondered if Aden was the only kid his age experiencing this. I'm so glad I found out just how wrong we were.

It turns out that 1 in 6 kids experience nighttime wetting, and some kids just take a little longer to be dry at night, even after they’re potty-trained and are dry during the day. I learned this the hard way. In most cases, this is something that evolves naturally as children grow, and I'm relieved to say Aden has been waking up dry lately. Before that, he was wearing nighttime underwear to stay comfortable and protected without feeling like he was wearing a diaper. He still felt like a "big kid" who had conquered the potty during the day.

The whole potty-training and nighttime-wetting experience really made me realize that every child has such a different developmental timeline — and that’s perfectly OK. It may not seem like a big deal, but now that we've been through it, I feel much more relaxed about parenting (and life in general). All these unexpected blips on the child-raising road remind me of what's most important: to love my children and do what works best for my family. One of my favorite sayings is, "Comparison is the thief of joy," and it really couldn’t be more spot-on. So I stopped comparing Aden and Ariah to other kids, and that changed everything.

I’ll also say that after talking about these potty-training pitfalls, tons of parents have come up to me or messaged me to tell me about how their child is experiencing the same thing and how relieved they felt to watch me speak openly about it. It just goes to show: No matter what you’re going through, someone else is going through it too.

I used to fear vulnerability so much, but now I embrace it. Before, I felt like admitting that things were different with my family meant I was doing something wrong. I feared people would judge me and think I was a "bad mom." But now, I remind myself that my kids are so loved — and that's all that ever matters.

I wish more parents knew that you aren’t ever alone, and when you speak up about a challenge, in fact, you’re probably saying exactly what someone else needed to hear in that moment. When we open up and support each other, whether that's on social media or IRL, we’re always better for it. So no matter what your child is experiencing, I always encourage people to speak up and get real — because chances are, you’ll find people with just the information, resources and inspiration you and your family need.

Comedian Kevin Hart and his wife, Eniko Parrish, have some happily sleepless nights ahead. Their first child — a boy — arrived in the wee hours of Tuesday morning according to a tweet and an Instagram post from Hart later that day. “God is truly amazing…Kenzo Kash Hart was born at 1:45am,” Hart wrote. Given the unique name, we're guessing kiddo will grow up to be a fashion designer... or a country music icon perhaps.

“He is healthy & already smiling. Thank you all for your prayers!!!! We love & appreciate ya #Harts.” Maybe nobody tell Hart and Parrish that smiling that early is probably just gas. We'll just keep that between us.

According to TMZ, the shower cost a whopping $117,855. On Snapchat, Hart joked about the extravagant budget — and its limits: "We couldn't afford a lion, so we got the dog and just put the [mane] around the dog," he laughed. "It's still ballin'; it's just on a budget!" Um, sure...

Barack Obama's Birthday Tweet to Joe Biden Is a Meme Come True

Turns out yesterday was an extremely important day in history: Nov. 20, otherwise known as the birthday of one former Vice President Joe Biden. Obviously, this momentous day could not pass without Biden's BFF/co-parent to the nation, Barack Obama, doing something to commemorate it.

This is the president-vice president pair who reportedly share friendship bracelets, so obviously, birthday wishes between them are going to be epic — and Obama did not disappoint. On Twitter, he posted his happy birthday message to Biden in the best way possible: as a meme.

The meme, which shows a jovial Biden interrupting Obama's speech, reads:

"ME: Joe, about halfway through the speech, I’m gonna wish you a happy birth--
BIDEN: IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!
ME: Joe."

It's a play on a meme that became super-popular right after the 2016 election that showed all the pranks Biden was supposedly setting up in the White House for when Donald Trump would arrive, with Obama chastising him every time by simply saying, "Joe." Meant to capitalize on the friendship the two men, ostensibly built during their eight years in the White House, while imagining Biden as a rogue fellow with Obama being the one who keeps him in line, the meme soon went viral and left us all tickled pink.

Needless to say, Twitter lost it when they saw Obama is now officially in on the joke. Their reactions, like the one you're likely having while you read this, are epic.

"People want to set me up and I am just like, ‘No thank you!’" she told News.com.au in a new interview, adding that she hasn't "been on a date" since the split. Instead, her focus is solidly on the three kids she shares with Affleck and navigating post-divorce life with them by her side.

"I would not have chosen this life for myself or for my kids," she said. "I would not choose to be single or be in this position. It’s something that we are working through."

Even after their official divorce last April, though, Garner and Affleck are peacefully co-parenting the kids, 12-year-old Violet, 8-year-old Seraphina, and 5-year-old Samuel. Part of that means spending Thanksgiving as a family, even though they aren't together anymore. During the interview, Garner revealed their plans, which include Affleck's mom coming to help with the kids.

"Ben's mom, Chris [Boldt], will be in town and she and Ben will take the kids and I'll have crafts set up and I'll have T-Ball, soccer, I'll have everything set up," she explained. "If they will play with the kids and just let me cook, it is heaven for me. I will make homemade bread, I'll make stuffing, I'll make a turkey, I'll make gravy, I'll make sweet potato pudding, I'll make pies. Just let me have that day in the kitchen." Uh, can we have a seat at that dinner, please? The food sounds delish, but the Thanksgiving attendee roster sounds even better.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a holiday tradition that began in 1924. For three hours each Thanksgiving, floats, performers and balloons march through Manhattan for the 3.5 million people watching in person and more than 44 million people watching from home. This year will mark the 91st time the parade has delighted fans of all ages.

In 2017, five new floats are being introduced, and we have a sneak peak.

You'll Never Guess Why Audrey Roloff Was Mom-Shamed This Time

Little People, Big World star Audrey Roloff seems to attract more mom-shamers than most, and we honestly can't figure out why. She and her husband, Jeremy Roloff, welcomed baby girl Ember Jean in September, and Audrey's mothering (not Jeremy's fathering, naturally) has been under the hater-fueled microscope since day one. In fact, Audrey Roloff was being shamed for showing her pregnant belly in a series of cute social media posts before Ember even arrived on the scene. So what gives with all the Audrey haters and trolls? Is it the adorable baby? Is it Audrey's great hair? Inquiring moms want to know.

More: Audrey Roloff Shamed Again for Baby Outfit

The latest in "WTF is wrong with people?" news: Audrey Roloff posted a very sweet pic on Facebook on Nov. 15 of Ember's recent checkup at the pediatrician. In the photo, a grinning Audrey holds Ember's teensy hand in an exam room. “Getting so tall and strong,” was the innocent caption. We'll give you a minute to see if you can find something to troll. Just try. Nope, we couldn't find anything either.

Audrey Roloff FB

But if for some reason you went out on a limb and guessed "ripped jeans" — ding, ding, ding! You win the Absurd Troll Bait Identification Prize, because shamers did indeed shame Roloff for her torn attire. Basically the instant the post went live.

Enjoy this unpunctuated monologue:

"Blouse is very cute not a fan of the ripped jeans and a big hole at the knee and I will tell you why...It seems like her younger generation is not into dressing up as when I was growing up, dressing up meant you had style and class... at appointments and get togethers with family and when meeting with friends I want to feel and be my best...If you want to look like that with hanging out with friends at the movies or chillin and going to the mall then by all means dress like that but it seems like women of her generation dress like tom boys and do not want to dress feminine anymore just put on a sweat shirt and a hoody even meeting family at a restaurant like that... get a nice blouse and a pair of slacks that is how women dressed back in the day and I think women lack style and taste anymore."

More: Audrey Roloff Struggling Two Weeks Postpartum

God forbid moms dress comfortably or, even worse, like a "tom boy." (We'll try to contain our anger over here.)

Just last week, Roloff posted a completely lovely pic of Ember to celebrate the little girl's 2-month milestone. Let's play another round of "WTF is wrong with people?" shall we?

Audrey Ember

Audrey Ember

Did your inner Victorian nanny cluck at the unironed blanket and Baby Ember's bare legs? Neither did ours. But if so, you are a winner! Commenters had a field day arguing about whether or not this baby blanket should have been ironed (What? I mean, what??) or whether or not Ember was catching pneumonia from the comforts of her own home.

OK, one more super-fun round of "WTF is wrong with people?" We present to you exhibit C, a shot Roloff posted in early November on Facebook:

Baby wipes AR

Baby wipes AR

Oh, OK. We know you're trying to pretend you didn't notice that she piled baby wipe packages on her sleeping child in a super-awkward way. That's really nice of you, and we appreciate it. But, yeah, that didn't fly so well with commenters:

"They should not be on baby like that come on. There not light in weight," said one horrified commenter.

"Ok what the heck put the wipes packages on the bed or some thing not on a beautiful sleeping baby girl," freaked another.

Bonus points if you can target another detail that made some shamers lose their shit. No? Surprise: It's the clear pacifier.

"Is this little Baby Girl Roloff, or a doll? I've never seen a pacifier like that before. It's a little weird to me, kind of medical device looking with the hole in the mouth piece and the part that goes over the nose. Things have advanced since I had a baby, this pacifier must be safer for baby I guess [horrified emoji face]"

Thankfully, Audrey does have some outspoken and protective fans to dish it out to the trolls:

"Don’t you people have anything better to do then try to shame this young mother. She is dressed in the style of her generation you don’t need to dress up to take a baby to the doctors. Last week she didn’t iron the blanket the baby was on this week it’s her jeans. Do you need to be reminded she is the mother of a two month old? Time and sleep are precious!"

Damn straight, lady. Another remarked sagely:

"Seems like the 'self righteous' love to hang out on Roloff’s pages. Do these people hear what they are putting out there? What is the point of their judgements?"

Girl, preach. In the meantime, Audrey, just do your mom thing. Try to keep calm (it's gotta be tough given these dire social media circumstances) and carry on.
