Kiefer Sutherland to terrorize Pompeii as villain

Kiefer Sutherland's found himself on the wrong side of the law... in film. The actor has joined the cast of Paul W.S. Anderson's Pompeii as a scheming Senator. Jack Bauer's gone bad.

Kiefer Sutherland Kiefer Sutherland is returning to the big screen. During the past decade, he's spent most of his time working in television. He played the iconic Jack Bauer on Fox's 24, and now Martin Bohm on Touch. With his latest gig, he's going from celebrated hero to feared villain.

Kiefer Sutherland breaks down Touch, 24 similarities>>

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sutherland will play the bad guy in an upcoming movie. It's called Pompeii and co-stars Game of Thrones' Kit Harington, Mad Men alum Jared Harris and Sucker Punch's Emily Browning.

It's a period piece that takes place in 79 A.D., days before one of the world's biggest disasters. Harington plays "a slave stuck on a ship who must race against time to save his true love, his master’s daughter, as well as his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the coliseum when the destruction begins."

Browning stars as Harington's love interest, who's forced into marriage by Sutherland's Roman senator. Not only that but, his character's responsible for enslaving Harington's village. Harris plays Harington's master, who is Browning's father.

Kiefer Sutherland swears the 24movie will happen>>

While Sutherland gets in character for Pompeii, we're still desperately waiting for that 24 movie. Will Jack Bauer ever get one last hurrah? Fingers crossed.

Pompeii will be a 3D action flick directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. He is responsible for the long-running Resident Evil franchise. To date, the series includes five films with another on the way. Anderson also directed 2011's ill-received Three Musketeers 3D.

What do you think of Sutherland's new villainous role?

Bobby Brown freed from jail after just 9 hours

The New Edition singer has gotten off easy again. For his third DUI he was released from jail after only nine hours. But why did they feel that was a fair sentence?

Bobby Brown and wife Alicia Etheridge

Who said celebrities get off easy? Bobby Brown was sentenced to 55 days in prison last month for a DUI, but he was released after spending a small piece of that sentence behind bars, and it ended up being less than nine hours.

The singer, who has had problems with the law for years, was arrested for his third DUI in October 2012. The DUI was his second in 2012. He pleaded no contest and was given just under two months in prison, which he began at 10 a.m. on March 20. But by 6:58 p.m. the same day, the star was back out on the streets.

Bobbi K a no-show at dad Bobby Brown's wedding >>

According to Us Weekly, Brown’s attitude had nothing to do with the release, but instead “chronic overcrowding necessitated the release.”

However, jail time wasn’t the only part of Brown’s sentence, and he does have to complete the rest of it.

“Brown was also sentenced to four years probation, and was ordered to serve an 18-month alcohol program on the charges, all stemming from his October 2012 arrest for driving under the influence and with a suspended license,” said Us Weekly.“He was arrested in spring 2012 on similar charges — and was convicted in 1996 for DUI.”

Brown has been on a downward spiral since the death of his ex-wife Whitney Houston, who passed away in February 2012. But it appeared The New Edition singer was turning things around when he married girlfriend Alicia Etheridge in Hawaii in June 2012.

Bobby Brown: Whitney did drugs long before me >>

Back in March 2012, Brown was also pulled over for suspicion of being under the influence, and failed a field sobriety test. However, he managed to avoid jail time that time by agreeing to a rehab program and probation for 36 months. But the sentence didn’t seem to teach him his lesson that time, and there is a chance nine hours in jail won’t do the job this time.

Strawberry deviled eggs

These cute little strawberries are covered in white chocolate and filled with a sweet cream cheese to look just like deviled eggs!

Strawberries That Look Like Deviled Eggs

Another great way to put that egg tray to good use! These chocolate covered strawberries look just as festive as deviled eggs, but are a welcome break from the normal appetizer. If you are worried about food dye, plenty of companies are making all-natural dyes. Look in your local premium markets or online.

Strawberry deviled eggs recipe

Yields 24

Ingredients:

  • 12 strawberries
  • 1 cup white chocolate candy melts, or white chocolate chips
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Yellow food dye

Directions:

  1. Cut the strawberries in half lengthwise. Try to leave some of the leaves on each half. Place strawberries cut side down on a paper towel for 10 minutes. Strawberries need to be as dry as possible or the white chocolate won't stick.
  2. In a microwave safe bowl, add the white chocolate melts. Microwave for 20 seconds, stir and repeat until melted. Make sure to keep a close eye on white chocolate, if it overheats, it will seize.
  3. One at a time, dip the strawberries in the white chocolate until completely covered. Immediately place, cut side down, on a sheet of parchment paper. Allow to set in a cool room until the white chocolate has set, about 15 minutes.
  4. In the bowl of a stand mixer add the cream cheese and powdered sugar, mix on medium high until well combined. Add the lemon juice, vanilla and food dye and mix until well combined.
  5. Add the cream cheese mixture to a piping bag with a large tip. Pipe into the center of the strawberries. Chill until ready to serve.

Splash and other absurd reality TV premises

It’s not like we expect reality TV to be the stuff Oscars are made of, but reality TV shows like Splash toe the line between escapism and, well, something we just want to escape from.

Splash

When we first laid eyes on the promo for ABC’s new reality series, Splash, we actually thought it was a spoof. Had the TV strayed to SNL or MadTv? Nope — despite silly clips showing comedian Louis Anderson and promising “much more” than just hot girls in bikinis, Splash is no joke. The idea? Teach celebrities to high dive.

The show starts with actual divers adroitly leaping from the platform and into the pool, barely making a ripple. And then the celebrities show up, parading through star shapes in a canopy of water. Oddly, although you’d expect the show to take a lighthearted approach with its absurd subject matter, it doesn’t — the funniest thing about the show is that it tries not to be funny. But, hey, at least it’s an excuse to ogle over the host, Joey Lawrence.

The Sisterhood

Christians everywhere, be prepared to shudder. TLC’s The Sisterhood shines a light on what five Atlanta preachers’ wives do when they aren’t in church. And, well, let’s just say if these women were Catholic, there’d be a lot of Hail-Marys happening.

The stars of the show — or "first ladies," as they call themselves — are Domonique Scott, Tara Lewis, Ivy Couch, DeLana Rutherford and Christina Murray. These wives, whose husbands all preach at churches in the “evangelical Word of Faith prosperity theology,” deal with drama ranging from gossip-mongering to substance abuse and wild sex acts... so if you were expecting staid and stuffy, think again.

Best Funeral Ever

Maybe at some point you’ve told loved ones you want your funeral to be a party. “Don’t mourn my death,” you’ve said, “but celebrate my life.” You might think twice about that upon watching TLC’s Best Funeral Ever. The show follows the ins-and-outs of business at Dallas’ Golden Gate Funeral Home — a funeral home with a flair for the dramatic, to say the least.

Owner/CEO John Beckwith Jr. creates over-the-top spectacles of people’s passings, and there’s no shame in this man’s game. He even admits on air that he incorporates “professional mourners” at funerals — employees who have attended classes on faking grief so they can cause a contagion of tears during services. “A mourner can make or break a funeral,” he admonishes.

Curious about the kind of funeral you might find at Golden Gate? For the singer of Chili’s Baby Back Ribs theme song, the casket was modeled after a smoking pit and a BBQ-sauce fountain added ambience. We kid you not.

A romantic dramedy starring the hyper-neurotic Tina Fey is opening against the action-packed thriller, starring the gun-toting, mega-hottie Gerard Butler. Which one should you see? Tough call!

Admission

Admission

Tina Fey is known for playing slightly exaggerated versions of herself and her character Portia in Admission is no different. What is new, however, is her flirty love interest, played by Paul Rudd.

Fey plays the admissions director for Princeton University and Rudd plays the advocate for a unique high school kid who is desperate to get into the Ivy League school, but doesn't have the test scores.

Rudd and Fey play well off each other, but when Portia's secret past is revealed, she has some difficult decisions to make.

I found Tina Fey wonderful as Portia and loved watching her go deeper as an actress. Some other female critics however, don't agree. Here's what they thought:

Victoria Alexander of Film Festival Today said, "Tina Fey’s first big blunder."

Joanna Langfield from The Movie Minute said, "The biggest problem with this movie is that Tina Fey didn’t write it."

Christy Lamire from the Associated Press called it a, "major disappointment."

Olympus Has Fallen

This fast-paced, intense action flick with get your adrenaline pumping!

Gerard Butler stars as an ex-Secret Service agent who must singlehandedly save the president and the entire country from nuclear meltdown.

Those who like the Die Hard franchise would most likely enjoy this film for its intense action sequences and wry humor. I warn you, however, that it is incredibly violent and certainly not suitable for children.

Here's what some other gals thought:

Rebecca Murray from About.com had this to say, "It's fun, engaging, and — to use a descriptive phrase used far too often but absolutely true in this case — a white-knuckle ride of a film."

Paula Puig of USA Today said, "This is for those who like their political thrillers far-fetched, far-reaching and filled with pretty people."

Rebecca Cusey of Patheos said, "If I had a pickle for every time a person went to meet his Maker in this film, I’d have a bulging full barrel."

Play ball! A guide to Cooperstown, New York

Baseball fans, rejoice! The next season of America's favorite pastime kicks off on March 31, so why not visit the town where the sport was created?
Otesaga Resort Hotel

Cooperstown may be known to most as the home of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, but many who make the journey to "America's Most Perfect Village" discover a land rich in art, natural beauty and American tradition.

Where to stay

The Otesaga Resort Hotel is the grande dame of Cooperstown village. A member of the Historic Hotels of America, the Otesaga will celebrate its 104th season this spring as the premier resort in upstate New York. Occupying 700 feet of lakefront on the southern shore of Lake Otsego, The Otesaga is a magnificent, Federal-style resort with a front portico supported by massive 30-foot columns. Everything about the Otesaga calls to mind an era of style and grace, from the jacket-required, formal main dining room, to the white rocking chairs on the hotel's veranda overlooking the lake.

For travelers looking for a more intimate lodging experience, the 15-room Cooper Inn is the perfect alternative. Located steps from Main Street, the elegant inn features an original spiral staircase, period fireplaces and cozy guestrooms. Guests of the Cooper Inn are also invited to use the recreation options at The Otesaga, including golf, tennis, and swimming in the heated outdoor pool.

What to do

Welcome to the baseball mecca. One of the best-known sports shrines in the world, The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum is a living collection of the game's treasures, as well as a symbol of the most profound honors bestowed on an athlete. The museum’s collections contain more than 35,000 three-dimensional artifacts including bats, baseballs, uniforms, player equipment, ballpark artifacts, awards, artwork, textiles, tickets, collectibles and assorted memorabilia.

Fenimore Art Museum
Fenimore Art Museum

The National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum may initially draw tourists to Cooperstown, but it's the town's other attractions that make it hard to leave. The Fenimore Art Museum is an unassuming world-class, fine art museum that features a wide-ranging collection of American folk art; American 18th- and 19th-century landscape, genre, and portrait paintings; domestic artifacts; more than 125,000 historical photographs and the renowned Eugene and Clare Thaw Collection of American Indian Art.

Families also love The Farmers' Museum, a re-created 19th century village and working farmstead that gives visitors the opportunity to experience historic rural and village life first-hand through authentic demonstrations and interactive exhibits. Finally, make sure to stop by the Ommegang Brewery for a tour and tasting of a wide variety of Belgian beers.

The Farmers' Museum

Where to eat

Guests of the Otesaga Resort Hotel dine using an "American Plan," which includes breakfast and dinner at the resort's restaurants as a part of their reservation. That said, both the formal Main Dining Room and the more informal Hawkeye Bar & Grill are open to the public and offer gourmet cuisine that highlights the bounty of the region. The five-course dinner menu at the Main Dining Room changes daily, while the Hawkeye Bar & Grill operates with a seasonal menu. On Main Street, Alex & Ika offers innovative cuisine unheard of for a small town restaurant, with menu items including Thai coconut curried clams and honey cider cherry pork tenderloin.

Happy Birthday, Reese Witherspoon! Our fave Reese roles

$
0
0
Reese Witherspoon turns 37 today, and we couldn’t think of a sweeter actress to celebrate! In honor of Hollywood’s hottest Southerner, we recommend eight of our favorite flicks she’s starred in.

Actress Reese Witherspoon

The Man in the Moon

In 1990, Reese headed to a casting call for the film The Man in the Moon, expecting to be dealt a minor role. Instead she landed the lead as 14-year-old Dani Trant. Reese, 14 at the time herself, is utterly endearing as the young Louisiana girl who falls hard for her hunky 17-year-old neighbor — and sister’s boyfriend. If you love Reese, this movie is a must-watch. But be warned: it’s a bit of a tearjerker.

Fear

With Reese Witherspoon, Mark Wahlberg and Alyssa Milano at the helm, how could this movie go wrong? Anyone who was anyone in the ‘90s saw Fear in the theater and/or bought it on VHS as soon as it hit the shelves — nary a woman existed who didn't question her attraction to Mark as an extremely troubled teen. Three words: Nicole 4 eva.

Cruel Intentions

Ryan Phillippe and Reese Witherspoon may not have lasted, but the legacy of the movie they shared has. Ryan plays bad-boy Sebastian, with nefarious plans to bed Reese’s virginal Annette. She ends up stealing his heart in the movie, so we all swooned when the two got hitched the same year the film was released.

Legally Blonde

If there's one role Reese is most known for, this is quite possibly it — as preppy, pink-clad sorority girl Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. We all know the story: She gets dumped by her schmucky Ivy League boyfriend and follows him to Harvard, where she discovers her inner lawyer... and adds a little sparkle to everyone’s lives in the process.

Sweet Home Alabama

Another role close to Reese’s Southern roots is her turn as Melanie Carmichael opposite Josh Lucas as her ex, Jake, in Sweet Home Alabama. Um, huge bonus? Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey plays her sweet NYC suitor. They all end up well below the Mason Dixon line in pursuit of wedded bliss, and hilarity ensues.

Walk the Line

Who knew Reese could sing? The actress put her twangy pipes on display in the 2005 Johnny Cash biopic Walk the Line, and it won her an Oscar. She was stellar as Johnny’s longtime, long-suffering love, June Carter. So good, in fact, that when we rewatch the 2005 film, we even kind of want to like Joaquin Phoenix all over again.

Monsters vs. Aliens

Yes, this is an animated film. And, yes, you should watch it even if you don’t have kids. It’s that cute, we promise. Reese voices the lead character, Susan — a woman who gets struck by a meteorite on her wedding day and transforms into Gigantica. She’s transported to a secret government lair and paired up with other “monsters” to defeat an alien evil genius.

Water for Elephants

This book-turned-movie brought Reese together with Twilight star Robert Pattinson in a visual feast. He — a veterinary student who joins a traveling circus — and she — the circus’ star — bond over their love of animals and, ultimately, build a beautiful life together. But not before her tyrannical, circus-owning man creates major drama.

Vanessa Hudgens: Spring Breakers was "liberating"

$

Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine talk about ditching their good girl personas for the dark coming-of-age story, Spring Breakers.

Spring Breakers

You know them mostly for their virginal roles on Disney shows like Wizards of Waverly Place and the High School Musical series. But Selena Gomez and Vanessa Hudgens will smash that image to pieces with their dark and somewhat disturbing portrayal of college girls gone wild in Spring Breakers.

While the name may conjure up images of innocent, youthful revelry, the movie explores much more mature themes as the four protagonists venture from rite-of-passage partying to criminal behavior. The chain-smoking, bong-hitting, coke-snorting, gun-toting, bikini-clad "bad girls" show a side of themselves we didn't think was possible.

"It’s seriously unlike anything you’ve ever seen before," Hudgens told SheKnows when we sat down with the cast in Los Angeles recently. "It was such a liberating experience for all of us. We pushed ourselves every day and we pushed it to the limit. We had a great time."

WATCH THE INTERVIEW

With their immaculate hair, makeup and stylish outfits, it was hard to reconcile the image of these beautiful actresses with the troubled teens they play in the movie. But Hudgens told us, in the words of the film’s idol Britney Spears, they’re not that innocent.

"I think we knew we had it in us deep down," said Vanessa. "We all have a bit of a gangster side."

This side comes out in full effect when Hudgens and Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson engage in some crude gun play with James Franco mid-hookup.

"We definitely wanted to emasculate him," said Hudgens. "James is game. He’s really down to take it to the next level."

Off camera though, the ladies reverted to more wholesome behavior.

"We were dancing and making music videos in the bathroom," laughed Benson. "There was this big fan and we would just do photo shoots with our hair blowing around. And James would be just reading a book off to the side."

So can we expect more controversial roles for the girls going forward?

"Obviously, I am in a little bit of a transitional phase," 20-year-old Gomez told us. "I’ve been enjoying it. I don’t think there’s really a right or wrong answer in what projects I’m going to pick from this point on but I thought it was a perfect choice for me. It was a great director, a great cast, and I’m definitely proud of it."

Julianne Moore

Exclusive interview: Julianne Moore

You know Julianne Moore best as an acclaimed actress, but she's also a mother of two, an accomplished children's author and a freckle face. Moore's best-selling Freckleface Strawberry books are now going digital.

We had a chance to chat with Julianne about the new e-books and app, motherhood and more.

Celebrity mom and children's author Julianne Moore took time out of her busy schedule to talk to us all about Freckleface Strawberry— which was her nickname growing up and is also the name of her popular series of children's books.

About Freckleface Strawberry

Long before she was Amber Waves in Boogie Nights, Maude Lebowski in The Big Lebowski or Nancy Donovan on 30 Rock, Moore was a little girl nicknamed Freckleface Strawberry.

Freckleface Strawberry

Every kid is teased or feels self-conscious about one thing or another about themselves. For Moore, it was her freckles. As an adult, she took that experience and turned into a children's book— Freckleface Strawberry. To date, there are three books in the series, a full-length musical and most recently e-books and an app.

"Freckleface Strawberry is for the age when kids become very physically self-aware — when they start noticing things about themselves," explains Moore. "Prior to that, they don't think much about what they look like. Then they suddenly look in the mirror and they say 'Hey, my teeth are weird, I don’t like my hair, I don't like this, I don't like that.' And everyone has that experience. So that's obviously what it was with me and freckles."

As we all know, the things that we worry about as kids aren't a priority when we become adults. Moore decided to write the book when her young son began disliking certain things about his own appearance.

"I really wanted to write something about how we all have something about ourselves that we're not crazy about that doesn't necessarily go away, but becomes less important when you grow up. The things that rule our lives in childhood are not the things that really bother you when you become an adult because you have a family, you have a job and you have interests. So they go way down to the bottom of the list."

Dodgeball and best friends

Freckleface Strawberry books

The two follow-up books in the series include Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully and Freckleface Strawberry: Best Friends Forever .

"I think it's very important that kids try to solve their own problems," says Moore. "It's a very child-centric world in my books — and that's the way they live in their school and their community. Their world is about themselves and their peers. And they often do solve their own problems. I think, many times, you can let kids work things out. In Dodgeball, she finds out that she's afraid of balls. And then she finds out there are other kids who are afraid of monsters.

"I'm afraid of balls, I don't like to ski and I'm not very athletic..."

"I always say to kids when I talk about the book, 'Listen, I'm afraid of balls, I don't like to ski and I'm not very athletic but I'm not afraid of the dark, I'm not afraid of monsters and I'm not afraid of spiders.' We go through those things and then the kids will tell me I'm afraid of this but I'm not afraid of that. You realize everyone has different kinds of fears and by being friends we can help each other with our fears too."

The third book in the series is about "two very different kids becoming best friends," Moore explains. "And then someone tells them, 'Hey, you can't be friends because you are too different.' By the end of the book they realize of course they can be best friends." Moore says that Best Friends Forever is also a metaphor for marriage.

There's an app for that

Freckleface Strawberry app

All three of the books in the Freckleface Strawberry series recently launched in the the e-book format. You can snag the Kindle editions on Amazon for $7 each. To accompany the digital debut of the beloved character, Moore has also introduced the new Freckleface Strawberry Monster Maker app— free on iTunes. The iPad app features the freckle-faced character in an interactive tale about friendship and the imagination. At the end of the story, young readers are encouraged to create their own monsters and share their fun creations with family and friends.

The decision to go digital with Freckleface Strawberry was a logical choice.

"Obviously, it's a rapidly changing world," says Moore. "I sent my first email only 11 years ago and everything has changed so dramatically since then. The app is a way to expand the character and to create something that is family-friendly and child-friendly. We've all been in a situation where you're at dinner and you hand your kid your iPad so that they're occupied. I want to have something that I feel good about giving a child. That's how that happened and it's a logical extension of the books."

Freckleface Strawberry on stage

Kids love seeing their characters from their favorite books and TV shows live on stage — from Sesame Street to Yo Gabba Gabba!... to Freckleface Strawberry.

"It was interesting," Moore recalls. "Rose Caiola, who has a dance school for kids, had read the book in a bookstore and really liked it. She called me and asked if she could option it and I said 'Yeah, sure' — not thinking that anything would come of it because things get optioned all the time. But anyway, they developed this really adorable musical based on it. It ran for a long time off-Broadway in New York City. Now it's licensed and there are productions all over the country — and I think all over the world. On our website, it will tell you where the musical is playing. It's extremely gratifying and extremely flattering that it came about that way — totally out of left field."

Family time

Like all busy moms, the 52-year-old mother of two does her best to make the most of family time. Moore and her husband Bart Freundlich have a 15-year-old son, Caleb, and almost-11-year-old daughter, Liv.

"When you read anything on working and parenthood, the one thing that comes up again and again is flexibility."

"The first thing I'd like to say is that I'm extremely lucky because I have a flexible job," she says. "When you read anything on working and parenthood, the one thing that comes up again and again is flexibility. Women — and men — are asking for flexible hours. And that's exactly what I have. I have long stretches of time when I'm not working. I'm at home so I get up and make everybody breakfast. They go to school, they come back after school and we have dinner together — so it's regular family stuff. Then when I work, it's in little chunks — so that's helpful.

"In terms of family activities, we go to a lot of basketball. My son is on the varsity basketball team. He'd have at least a game a week — sometimes two — and we always did that as a family. We go out to eat a lot. We go for walks. We have a house in Long Island so we go to the beach. It's all the regular stuff."

Beyond Freckleface Strawberry

Moore, who was a big fan of Laura Ingalls Wilder as a kid, loves to read anytime, anywhere. She's a vocal advocate for early childhood literacy and enjoys writing for children tremendously. Though she is unsure if there will be more Freckleface Strawberry books to come, she does have another title hitting the shelves this year.

"It's coming out in September with Chronicle and it's called My Mom is a Foreigner, But Not to Me," Moore reveals. "It's a book I wrote for my mother. My mom died very suddenly four years ago — it was traumatic. She was from Scotland and it's really a book for kids with a mother from another country and how they seem so different from the rest of the world — with different cultures, different behaviors and different outfits. It's about how they are considered foreign... but not to you."

We look forward to all Moore's upcoming projects — whether on the big screen or in the bookstore.

Anders will play "Troy Cutler, the second-in-command to Stamos' Connor McClane at V3, the world's top sports and talent agency. What were on the minds and Twitter feeds of some of our favorite celebrity moms? Fergie tweets about her “rock n roll maternity look,” while Britney Spears tweets about her Shape magazine cover Kate Gosselin tweets potty-training advice, while Mariah Carey rounds out our list of top celebrity mom tweets of the week.

Pregnant Fergie and her sisterFergie

Pregnant Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie took time to tweet her thoughts to rapper Lil Wayne , who was hospitalized after seizures from what was reportedly an overdose of sizzurp, which is a drink that contains codeine mixed with soda.

“My prayers go out to Lil Wayne & his family tonight. #PrayForWeezy @LilTunechi,” she tweeted.

Fergie, four months pregnant with her first child with her husband Josh Duhamel, also wrote about her maternity fashion.

“Done w/ my morning workout... excited 2 see my #fashiondiary in today’s @nytimes,” she tweeted, with a link to an article about her fashion choices while in Austin, Texas for South by Southwest music festival.

“Being four months pregnant, I need to be comfortable, but I don’t want to be frumpy. I wore this black drapey Gucci dress, Kye lace-up leggings and Givenchy lace-up sandals,” wrote Fergie, who is pictured above with her sister Dana. ”This being Texas, I also added a skull bolo tie — I love a theme — and a Loree Rodkin gold crosses ring. It was my rock ’n’ roll maternity look.“

She also wrote about wearing a yellow and white floral Stella McCartney tunic. “I’m finding out that tunics are great for my growing belly. I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, and thought, ’What a cute Easter look this would be.’”

Kate Gosselin

Kate Gosselin defended her actions after asking a man named Carlos Gosselin to change his Twitter ID, writing, “@RealCGosselin it is illegal to impersonate people on twitter etc. please change your ID and email immediately.“

He tweeted back that there are other people ”with the same last name” and said she ”got her panties in a wad.”

“The [person] impersonating my child tweeted 'love you mom' 2me,” Gosselin wrote. “Whether he really has last name or not, it’s impersonation w that tweet! And if it was meant as a joke to me, then I missed the joke--busy being a mom and am CONSTANTLY dealing w ppl impersonating my children!”

Gosselin has 8 children, including Cara, Alexis, Madelyn, Aaden, Hannah, Leah, Joel and Collin.

She also put her extensive potty-training knowledge to good use by tweeting out helpful tips. “Potty training extras: I covered mattresses w crib protectors and DID use pull ups at night & rarely in day.”

“Oh-remembered 1 other thing! Going from pull ups to 'big kid' character underwear=a HUGE reward to get to 'real' underwear!” she wrote.

Britney Spears

Britney Spears and her son at a soccer match

Britney Spears was trending this week when she tweeted this:

”@Shape_Magazine Thanks for the great photo shoot today! It was fun to get all dolled up for the cover!”

And later that day she was spotted leaving a Kentucky Fried Chicken with a bag full of treats.

Also on her timeline? The pop star, who has two sons tweeted about a new addition to her family.

“Say good morning to my new baby people,” she tweeted, with a link to a photo of her new adorable white puppy.

This is the second new dog for the Spears' family this year, as she tweeted about her other “baby,” a dog named Hannah earlier this year. She even has her own Twitter account with the handle @HannahSpears. The bio very accurately reads, “I’m Britney’s Bitc*.”

“Mommy, are dogs allowed to gamble in vegas? Gonna cash all my bones in for chips,” tweeted Hannah Spears.

“I don’t think so honey,” Spears wrote back.

She also tweeted congrats to her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, who recently got engaged to businessman Jamie Watson. Spears has a daughter, 4-year-old Maddie, with her ex-fiance Casey Aldridge.

“So excited and happy for my sister, congrats @jamielynnspears - love you,” she tweeted.

Mariah Carey

“Roc & Roe celebrate the day! #DemBabies,” tweeted Mariah Carey, with a link to her 1-1/2-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe dressed out for St. Patrick’s Day in green hats.

I think we know Moroccan’s favorite movie! “Having a marathon of Shrek 1,2,3 & forever after with RocStar, he just can't let it go!” she wrote.

The American Idol judge is juggling being a mom and ’career woman’ — and that includes taking care of the kids, Mariah style — you know, wearing a designer gown.

“After the show last night: ) rushed home to put #dembabies to sleep!” she tweeted, with a link to a photo of her in a gorgeous black and gold gown while playing with the kids on the floor.

If Jimmy Fallon's out, will Seth Meyers tackle Late Night?

There must be something in the air at NBC. Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon aren't the only ones being affected by The Tonight Show shake-up. Saturday Night Live's Seth Meyers has been pulled into the drama.

Seth Meyers

We're in the middle of a late-night shuffle. A few years ago, we experienced something similar with Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien. The former was being pushed out of The Tonight Show, while the latter was being groomed as his successor.

Unfortunately, things didn't go according to plan. Leno returned to The Tonight Show after O'Brien spent less than a year at his desk. It was one of the most talked about recoups in TV history. Now, Leno's at it again. This time, it seems to be legit.

There have been reports that NBC is looking for Jimmy Fallon to take over The Tonight Show. The 62-year-old Leno is bowing out of his position. If Fallon goes there, who'll rule Late Night With…?

Jimmy Fallon jokes about Tonight Showtakeover>>

The New York Post believes the new guy will be another Saturday Night Live alum, Seth Meyers. He's currently the head writer at the sketch show, but a source says he's the top choice.

“Lorne Michaels wants Seth to take over from Fallon. It would be perfect for him. Tina Fey’s name had also come up, but she has said she was too busy to do it."

SNL's Seth Meyers cozying up to Kelly Ripa?>>

This isn't the first time Meyers has been the talk of talk. He was previously in the running to co-host Live! alongside Kelly Ripa, but the job went to Michael Strahan. NBC plans to unveil its new Tonight Show to advertisers in May, with Fallon debuting in 2014. But will it really happen? Stay tuned!

Is Tiger Woods faking it with Lindsey Vonn?

Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn publicly announced their relationship recently. Is it a true love match or a publicity stunt?

Lindsey Vonn

Tiger Woods is trying to rehab his image from crazed sex fiend to nice normal guy by dating Lindsey Vonn, claims a source close to the couple.

The athletic pair confirmed their relationship via social media and released cozy photos to the press, with the New York Times calling the coupling "a match made for SportsCenter."

However, a source told the New York Post the pairing is more like "a match made in marketing heaven."

"It immediately makes him more sympathetic, and makes Vonn a household name as she reaches a crucial point in her skiing career, the 2014 Winter Olympics," the source told the paper. "They know the sponsors are watching."

Calling the coupling "a carefully crafted PR move," another source cast further doubt on the relationship, saying, "Tiger had always hoped to win Elin back, so this is an unusual move."

Elin Nordegren recently began dating her uber-rich neighbor Chris Cline, who lives next door to the multimillion-dollar estate she purchased with part of her reported $100 million divorce settlement.

But Woods insists he and Vonn are just like any other couple. In his Facebook announcement he said, "Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become very close and are now dating. We thank you for your support and for respecting our privacy. We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple and continue to compete as athletes."

Tell us: Are Tiger and Lindsey faking it for the dough?

Are you scrambling to put together an Easter basket of goodies? While most Easter baskets include edible treats, we've got a few ideas of the non-food variety to add to the sweet treats.

Pick a theme

Easter baskets can be about more than just candy and a fun way to accomplish that is to build the contents around a theme. Sarah W. Caron, writer and mother of two, says, "My children's Easter baskets always include a token candy — usually a chocolate bunny — and several items of a single theme. While I adore the chocolate, I hate to think of my kids eating it all in one day like I did."

Need ideas for an Easter basket theme? Sarah changes their theme each year and shares a few great suggestions from past years. "One year, we did a 'new life' theme with bunny-shaped chalk, little wind-up hopping chickies and sand pails with eggs and chickens on them," she explains. "The previous year, we did gardening, with pint-sized gardening tools." Think about your children's hobbies and interests, create a theme and go from there.

Creative containers

Easter pailIf your Easter basket isn't the only one the recipient will receive, why not get a little creative with the "basket" part?Skip the traditional straw basket and think of some out-of-the-ordinary containers instead. Use a metal bucket, flip over a cowboy hat or fill up a canvas bag.

Debra Holland, Ph.D., shares, "Easter is my favorite holiday, and I go all out for my extended family — babies to 16-year-olds."

Debra goes all out with both the contents and the container. "They usually receive baskets from their parents, so I come up with alternatives, such as straw purses, plastic sand pails and this year — totes — to hold the goodies." She says, "Bigger boys and girls might like backpacks."

What about these unique Easter basket ideas? >>

Focus on the day

With all of the excitement over egg hunts, sweet treats and baskets full of little gifts, it's sometimes easy to forget the actual reason for Easter.

"It's sometimes easy to forget the actual reason for Easter."

For families who celebrate the religious aspect of the holiday, Alyice Edrich, of Alyice Edrich Creatives, says that when her kids were young, she always included a video or book related to Easter. "If there were no new ones, I would include a religious book geared toward their age. I also went to the trinket section of the local Christian bookstore and bought religious-themed toys."

Don't forget your oldest babies

Just because your little chicks have left the nest doesn't mean you can't gift them with an Easter basket. Instead of the traditional basket, you can put together an Easter basket alternative that suits their interests.

Shelley Joy, an early childhood educator and author of Little Bird You Are Perfect, admits that just like her own mother, she's not ready to let go! "I received an Easter basket of some sort until the year my mother passed away," says Joy.

"I have learned that my grown daughter, a new wife and mommy herself, is in need of a great pasta pot. My plan is to purchase a pasta pot and fill it with glorious fresh organic tomatoes, green peppers, onions, and herbs with several kinds of delicious and healthy pastas for her new little family… Filled with love, health and happiness, the basket will be waiting on her front porch on Easter morning."

Age-by-age ideas

  • Toddler: Stuffed animals, building blocks, Easter-themed soft books
  • Preschooler: Puzzles, coloring books, crayons, books, bubbles, chalk
  • Elementary schoolers: Small toys, DVDs, CDs, video games
  • Pre-teens: Nail polish, hair accessories, art supplies, video game character toys
  • Teens: Gift cards
