Just When We Were Getting to Know Tyra Banks Boyfriend, They Go & Breakup

Oh, man. Another day, another celebrity couple we really loved together breaks up. This time it's Tyra Banks and her longtime boyfriend, Erik Asla. Details are still emerging, but it seems like like the split is amicable, even though Asla has reportedly moved out of the couple's Los Angeles home.

It's not super surprising we don't know a whole lot about the breakup yet, considering these two went to great lengths to keep their relationship private. The couple went months and months without being photographed together in public through out their relationship — but we were still able to gather enough info about Asla to know that we really liked them together.

Here's a little about Banks' now-ex.

1. He's Banks' baby daddy

Banks announced the birth of her and Asla's son, York Banks Asla, early last year with a cute Instagram post.

"The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here," Banks wrote on Instagram of her baby, who was born via surrogate. "He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world."

2. He's already removed almost all traces of Banks from his Instagram

Erik Asla Tyra Banks Instagram

In fairness, Asla didn't post pictures of Banks on his social media that often throughout their entire relationship, but when he did, they were stunning. Looks like he's already scrubbed his Instagram page, however, and removed all images of Banks from his feed with the exception of one solitary pic (above).

3. He's nearly a decade older than her

We know that age isn't anything but a number, but Asla is nine years Banks' senior. Who knows if that had anything to do with their breakup.

4. He's a photographer

Shocker that Banks would be cozying up with a photographer, right? Asla's work has appeared in just a few rags you might have heard of, such as Allure, Bazaar, Dwell, Elle, Glamour, GQ Australia, Marie Claire, The New York Times Magazine, Vogue and Vanity Fair.

He has also shot for Calvin Klein and Saks Fifth Avenue. Of course, his website is chock-full of amazing photos of Banks too.

5. He likes to keep his work simple

The beauty in Asla's work is truly in its simplicity.

"Sometimes I like to do 'clean' shoots," he wrote on Instagram. "No impressive and talented collaborators, no assistants or light sources or anything else. Just inspiration and a beautiful and alluring subject who truly enjoys the process of creating magic together. This is what creativity is all about."

6. He's Norwegian

Asla was born in Norway but moved to Los Angeles to further his photography career and studied under the legendary image-maker, Herb Ritts.

7. They met at work

Asla and Banks met on the set of Norway's Next Top Model and initially tried to keep their romance on the down-low but were spotted holding hands and kissing during a lunch date shortly after beginning their courtship.

8. He has more children

According to his work website, as well as his personal social media accounts, Asla has three daughters who also live with him in LA.

9. His social media presence will melt your heart

Endearing bios, breathtaking photos... the caption for his photo announcing the birth of baby York says, "Witnessing the dawn of life is possibly life's greatest gift." Serious swoon.

When Is It Time to Hire a Tutor?

$

The leaves are starting to drop — and so are some of those can-do start-of-school intentions. What can you do if it seems like your kid’s academics are taking a downturn?

Many parents immediately call in the reinforcements: get a tutor, stat! But hold up a hot minute. Before you make that call and kiss a substantial amount of money goodbye, see if you can get a sense of the following:

  • Does he seem frustrated?
  • Is she complaining about feeling lost or unable to keep up?
  • Does the teacher share your concern?

If the answer to these questions is yes, then some outside help might be in order. Heidi Robinson of Varsity Tutors says that parents should keep an eye out for signs of academic distress — such as more frequent requests for help or changes in behavior. “Academic struggles can manifest in lower self-confidence and even anxiety,” she says. So while it’s a good idea to consider all causes and options, you should feel comfortable interceding if you do determine that your child requires more academic support than she's getting.

More: Finally, Parent Report Cards Are Here

Involve the classroom teacher

Clair McLafferty, a veteran math tutor, says that involving the teacher in this process is a big advantage. Since the teacher directly observes your child’s daily learning, they should be able to help you identify any challenges. “Since the teacher sees the student more often [than the tutor does], they usually have a better grasp of a student's strengths and weaknesses,” she says.

Robinson believes this as well. “Teachers have plenty of insight into a student’s day-to-day performance,” she says. “They can confirm a parent’s concerns and pinpoint specific areas for improvement.” If you’re told that one-on-one help would be beneficial, you know you’re on the right track in seeking a tutor.

You may also find that the support of tutoring helps with school anxiety; if your child is stressed about meeting expectations with grades or test scores, having someone to effectively coach them on targeted skills or strategies may help to lessen any concerns. And if the tension is yours, a tutor might be the ticket to relieving that as well. Robinson points out that “newer teaching approaches, such as common core, unfamiliar types of assignments or advanced material can create anxiety for parents, who may not feel equipped to support their children well.”

Choose the best tutor for your child’s needs

So, let’s say that you’ve decided to get a tutor — what should you look for? Once you’ve identified a reputable service or independent tutor, preferably through a referral from someone who’s used them before, you’ll want to interview this person.

A good tutor is someone who understands the material and how to communicate it in a variety of ways. This is essential because your child may need a few different explanations to find one that makes sense for him or her. Additionally, you’re going to want to know that this person will be able to communicate with you: How is she progressing? What seem to be the trouble spots? Connecting the tutor and the teacher offers a direct line of communication that’s helpful for everyone.

Get the most out of your time

Beyond these insights into your child’s learning, what else should you expect from a tutor’s services? While your kid may be hoping that the tutor will do his homework, that won’t really help in the long run. McLafferty states that the work needs to be the child’s — not the tutor’s. “If a tutor is working through every problem for them, the student isn't learning anything,” she says. "That's not to say that one or two of the problems won't be used as examples, but the student should be able to demonstrate a concept by the end of the session.”

Instead, as Robinson puts it, a tutor should “suggest new approaches to solving problems, pinpoint additional areas for improvement and focus on helping the student build confidence as they gain mastery of the material.”

McLafferty has found that the students who benefit most from tutoring are the ones who are ready to accept help and prepare for their sessions. “If the student is willing to put in the time to do the work to be prepared, they'll usually see a more significant improvement in their grades than those who come to a session with no work done and no specific questions,” she says.

More: Can Kids Benefit From Instability?

Maximize learning impact

Since tutors can’t work magic, parents can help to boost tutor effectiveness by maintaining consistency of routines and providing a reliable study environment. Kids who are well-rested, eat nutritiously and have a quiet place to work are more likely to reap the benefits of tutoring. Some families find that scheduling sessions outside the home, at a library or a coffee shop, is more beneficial; other parents like having the ability to check in on what’s happening. McLafferty also stresses that even with tutoring, continuing to take advantage of help at school is important. “If the teacher offers help, provide the resources (scheduling, rides, etc.) that they need to make it to those one-on-one sessions,” she says.

Explore alternative solutions

If you’ve determined that your child needs support, but traditional tutoring isn't working — or just plain doesn’t fit your budget — know that there are other resources available. A lot of high schools coordinate peer tutoring for different honor societies. Call to ask if such programs exist near you. Similarly, many public libraries offer free homework assistance during specific hours and some even do so online. Sites like Khan Academy offer free tutorials in a variety of subjects, and online services such as Varsity Tutors allow you to skip the hassle of in-person meet-ups.

Tutoring isn’t always the answer. After all, maybe your kid just needs a little more encouragement or freedom — or the problem isn't academic at all. As a parent, you’ll often be able to tell whether a bad grade is a one-time blip vs. an emerging pattern. But when some extra help is needed — or when you simply don’t know where else to turn — tutoring can be a lifesaver. As long as you make sure to choose your tutor carefully, communicate well and prepare your kid to make the most of the tutoring time, you might find that the school year just got a lot less stressful.

Are the Obamas Moving?

The Obamas have been busy this year, especially when it comes to real estate. Not only did they buy the nine-bedroom, eight-and-a-half-bathroom house in Washington, D.C., they had been renting since they left the White House (for a cool $8.1 mil, no less), but now it seems like they're setting their sights further from Washington with yet another acquisition.

Multiple sources are reporting the Obamas are looking toward the Big Apple for their next residence, which may or may not be permanent (the couple is in the city often, but have previously said they planned to stay in D.C. where Sasha attends the prestigious Sidwell Friends School until her graduation).

More: Barack Obama's Shoutout to Michelle Obama Is the Best Kind of PDA

The home in question is a spacious apartment in Manhattan at 10 Gracie Square in a building that's previously been called home by Gloria Vanderbilt and other notables. It was built in the 1930s, but has many modern amenities, including tight security, an underground parking garage, a fitness center and a basketball court, the latter of which the former president is probably pretty excited about.

More: Michelle Obama's best quotes can help us get through the next four years

Sources tell Page Six the Obamas may be the buyers of a $10 million duplex in the building, which recently went into contract. The apartment has five bedrooms, four bathrooms and even a library — perfect for writing their next set of books. And the move would put them closer to older daughter Malia, who is currently attending Harvard University.

While I kind of like the idea of the Obamas staying in Washington, I can't blame them for wanting to move to the city that never sleeps. Even if the apartment is used just as a home away from home when they're traveling for business, I think the Big Apple would be lucky to count the former first family among its residents.

John Bradley Spills on Game of Thrones Season 8 in Such a Sam Way

And it turns out that not only is actor John Bradley just as lovable, but he's also dishing the details on the final season of the show, which just ups his love factor by about a bajillion.

More: This Might Be the Real Reason GoT’s Final Season Is Only 6 Episodes

"We assembled a team of directors this year who have been in charge of some of our big episodes in the past," Bradley said in an interview with HuffPost. "[Directors] Miguel [Sapochnik] and David [Nutter] have done some of the standout episodes of previous seasons. Clearly every single episode of the six you’ve got left in Season 8 is gonna be monumental and needs somebody at the helm who’s done that kind of high-stakes, high-octane direction before for us."

He added, "I think what we used to call Episode 9 in Game of Thrones folklore — the episode when everything comes to a head and you get a lot of spectacular sequences — I think you’re gonna get six ‘Episode 9s’ this year. You can tell that because we’ve got directors who have been in charge of some of the most huge set pieces in the past doing episodes all throughout the season."

Bradley called the finale "poetic," which makes us wonder: If he's read that script, then can we assume Sam lives 'til the end? And, if that's the case, can we then assume this epic Game of Thrones theory about Sam is indeed correct?

Peter Kraus Isn't Done With The Bachelor Franchise Just Yet

All hope is not lost that Peter Kraus will someday return as The Bachelor after he left Rachel Lindsay brokenhearted in The Bachelorette Season 13.

More: If You Want to Sleep With Nick Viall, Here's Your Chance

Creator Mike Fleiss announced today that Kraus will be joining the franchise's new series The Bachelor Winter Games, which will premiere February 2018, coinciding with the Winter Olympic Games. The show will bring back fan favorites from seasons past who will compete in winter-themed athletic challenges at a luxury winter resort. Because resorts are key here in Bachelor Nation.

Kraus may not have won Lindsay's heart, but he definitely walked away from the season as the hands-down fan favorite and fans' top choice to fill the shoes as the Bachelor for Season 22.

Unfortunately, Fleiss didn't share fans' sentiments.

But it looks like Kraus may have learned his lesson about vocally opposing quick marriages on a show that's all about finding the one to marry in eight weeks.

peter kraus tweet 1

There's a clear strategy here. Kraus appears on The Winter Games, claims he was just afraid with Lindsay and now he really is looking for marriage in only eight weeks, and by Season 23, he is the man leading the show and handing out the roses. I'm calling it now.

And no complaints here. Though I do think Kraus should get to hand out roses whether he wants to propose or not. After all, only four out of the first 10 Bachelors ended their seasons with a proposal. Since when did The Bachelor become all "diamond ring or bust"? It's not like the engagement makes the couples any more likely to stay together.

More: Corinne Olympios Has a New Boyfriend & a New Show

Either way, the odds are in Kraus' favor. Just because he didn't become the Bachelor for Season 22 doesn't mean he's out of the running. It just means we have to wait a bit longer to see his handsome face handing out some roses.

Plus, it's a win for ABC because having Kraus on The Winter Games will definitely drive viewers.

8 Ways Essential Oils Can Be Harmful

$

If you ask us, nothing beats burning essential oils and curling up with a book after a long day. Essential oils have been around forever, but they’ve burst back onto the health and wellness scene in recent years. Our social media feeds are flooded with friends touting their value, and while essential oils do have plenty of proven benefits — such as helping with anxiety, stress and mental clarity — they can also be harmful if not used correctly. After all, they’re powerful extracts, and they need to be used carefully.

We asked the experts for the lowdown on essential oils so you can use the aromatic oils for the right reasons.

They’re not regulated in the U.S.

In the United States, the FDA doesn’t regulate the essential oil market. In fact, Jessie Hawkins, director at the Franklin Institute of Wellness, says oils are classified as dietary supplements. As such, the labels on oils can be misleading in terms of purity and potency. Not all oils are created equal — some products aren’t therapeutic-grade and others may contain other fragrances, contaminants and chemicals that detract from the quality of the oil. To ensure you’re using the best essential oils, go straight to the source, like your aromatherapist.

More21 Essential Oils With Benefits Aromatherapists Swear By

They can interact with medications

Essential oils are the essence or extract of plants, and some oils have major contraindications. As Hawkins explains, they can affect the way medications are metabolized in the body. She says essential oils can especially impact the effectiveness of antidepressants and antianxiety medications.

“For example, lavender essential oil has strong antianxiety properties — it’s even a prescription in Germany — so if you ingest it along with antianxiety medication, it can cause problems,” she tells SheKnows.

Wintergreen is another one to watch out for. It’s a type of aspirin, so it shouldn’t be used while on blood-thinning medication. Likewise, peppermint oil can interfere with antiplatelet and anticoagulant drugs as well as some diabetes medications.

Ways essential oils can be harmful

They have a toxicity level

Since they’re so concentrated, essential oils have a toxicity level, and it’s important to dilute certain oils for safety reasons. According to Hawkins, “Many people don’t know how to dilute them properly.”

Wintergreen is a good example — it’s known for its pain-relieving properties, but it’s potent and can be dangerous if ingested in its pure essential oil form. To use it safely, dilute a very small amount in a "carrier oil," such as coconut oil or olive oil.

They’re not always safe for ingestion

Some essential oils may be safe to consume in small amounts (under the guidance of a certified aromatherapist), while others should be avoided.

“We can look at oils in the same way as over-the-counter medications. They’re safe to use, generally speaking, but they can be harmful if not used properly,” Hawkins says.

MoreAromatherapy for Kids

Tea tree oil, lemon oil and lime oil can disrupt the digestive tract and cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain if ingested incorrectly. The same goes for ginger, frankincense and spearmint oil.

Remember: Just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it’s safe.

They can irritate skin

“To be honest, we see more issues with topical application,” Hawkins says.

Some people are sensitive to botanicals, and many oils can irritate the skin if applied directly. For instance, lemongrass, cinnamon leaf, citronella and oregano oil are all quite corrosive, so it’s important to dilute them in a moisturizing carrier oil.

“Skin irritation is the most common reaction for the average person, but in extreme cases, [applying essential oils] can result in contact dermatitis. There was a case documented where someone applied peppermint oil and it burnt their skin so badly, they had to get a skin graft, “ Hawkins warns.

They can cause photosensitivity

Applying essential oils can also result in photosensitivity, which causes your skin to burn when exposed to sunlight.

“Citrus oils such as bergamot, lemon and lime can have an adverse effect in that you’ll get a sunburn when you normally wouldn’t have, which can then lead to blisters,” Hawkins explains.

MoreHow I Used Tea Tree Oil to Treat My Acne

And what about beauty products? Many skin care brands use essential oils, but Hawkins says to read labels carefully or ask an aromatherapist for advice if you’re unsure about their safety.

“Aromatherapists have learnt that bergamot oil is great for wrinkles, and they’ll often prescribe anti-wrinkle products containing it — but they’ll tell their clients to apply them at night to avoid sun exposure,” Hawkins tells SheKnows.

They may lead to allergic reactions

Essential oils can also cause the same kind of allergic response as their dried herb counterparts. For instance, those allergic to ragweed may also react quite strongly to chamomile oil.

They’re not all safe for pregnant women

During pregnancy, obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Joseph Sgroi says women can use essential oils and carrier oils for massages, compresses and baths to reduce anxiety, aches and pains. The key is to use the highest-quality oils and in small amounts.

“Only use one drop of essential oil at a time. The recommended dilution is 1 percent or less for all skin applications. In the bath, pregnant women should add no more than four drops of essential oil,” Sgroi tells SheKnows.

“Often, pregnancy carries the stigma of a no-go zone for massages and aromatherapy treatments. On the contrary, pregnant women can greatly benefit from essential oils,” he says.

However, Sgroi says there are some oils that should be avoided completely, as they may irritate the skin and respiratory system.

“These include sassafras, wormwood, cassia, pennyroyal, mustard and elecampane.”

He also advises steering clear of the following essential oils during pregnancy:

  • Oregano
  • Thyme

  • Savoury

  • Clove

  • Cinnamon

  • Cumin
  • Aniseed
  • Fennel

  • Anise star

  • Sweet birch

  • Wintergreen

With a little common sense and a few tips, essential oils can be part of your relaxation routine — just be sure to use them properly.

Nicole Richie’s Secret Solution for Adult Acne

It might seem odd to rub even more oil into an already oily pimple, but Nicole Richie is making the case for why moisturizing blemishes is the best way to beat breakouts. In a recent interview with E! News, she admitted that she’s a subscriber to the belief that drying out your skin results in the production of even more acne-causing oil. To counter that, she recommends moisturizing your blemishes to rebalance your skin’s oil levels and reduce acne.

“Now I heard, and I tend to believe this, that if you dry out a pimple, it sends a message to your skin that it needs to produce more oil,” she said. “So, what you actually should do is moisturize and do what you’re normally doing and then it balances out and goes away.”

Richie isn’t alone in standing by this skin care strategy. E! News also spoke to celebrity dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe to get the lowdown on why moisturizing your blemishes is so effective. “It seems counterintuitive to cleanse your oily skin with oil,” Bowe said. “However, it is actually one of the best ways to remove the excess makeup, sebum and buildup on your face without stripping your skin.”

More: Why Nicole Richie Hates Makeup

Along with lathering moisturizer on her pimples (her favorite is Biologique Recherche P50 mixed with a little water), Richie also keeps her face clean by cutting foundation out of her beauty routine. To cover minor blemishes, Richie opts for a tiny bit of concealer. “I let my skin breathe. I’m all about a moisturizer, not foundation,” Richie told Coveteur. “If I have a little spot that needs tending to, just a little dab of concealer and that’s it.”

Hillary Clinton Gets the Inspiring Thanks She Deserves on The Tonight Show

When Hillary Clinton sat down on Wednesday night to chat with The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, she probably wasn't expecting to be thanked by the female writing staff of the show. Moreover, she probably wasn't expecting to be thanked by the show's other guest for the evening, Miley Cyrus. But that's exactly what happened when Fallon revealed Clinton would be getting personal thank-yous from this group of young women following her interview with him. Get your tissues ready because it's about to get beautifully emotional up in here.

Fallon's regular segment wherein he writes thank you notes to various institutions, people or objects has become a segment filled with quirky comic relief. However, for Clinton's special appearance, the segment was reworked so the women who write for The Tonight Show could take some time to give their heartfelt thanks to Clinton. Of course, there were some chuckleworthy lines, including one writer's note that "[Y]ou taught me that when dealing with a difficult defeat, it's OK to take time to reflect, set your focus on a new path forward and maybe find a cave in the woods to scream into," but there were also plenty of touching observations.

But maybe the most touching of these thank-yous came courtesy of Cyrus, who was visibly overcome when she began to say her thank you to Clinton. "Thank you, Hillary, for being a constant beacon of strength, hope and determination for me and millions of other young women," she said, her voice cracking a little with emotion at the very beginning. "You’ve been a role model and an inspiration and a voice of reason in uncertain times. I could go on and on, but I’d like to get right to the point."

Mark Salling Pleads Guilty to Charges of Child Pornography Possession

Updated, Oct. 5, 2017, 7:50 a.m. PT: Former Glee star Mark Salling has concluded his child pornography case by taking a plea deal. On Wednesday, Oct. 4, he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor.

The Blast obtained the court documents, which reveal that he has agreed to serve four to seven years behind bars. Salling will have to register as a sex offender and have no communication with anyone under the age of 18 unless a parent or legal guardian is present.

MorePeter Kraus Isn't Done With The Bachelor Franchise Just Yet

Once his prison sentence is complete, Salling will reportedly be on parole for 20 years, enter a sex offender treatment program and have to stay 100 feet away from public swimming pools, playgrounds, video arcades, schoolyards and parks. He will also have to pay $50,000 in restitution to any victim who has requested it.

Salling took the plea deal after facing up to 20 years in prison. He was originally arrested back in December 2015 after law enforcement officials found more than 50,000 images and videos of child pornography on his computer and 4,000 images on a flash drive.

Original story:

Glee's Mark Salling has turned himself in to federal authorities on child pornography charges, but that doesn't mean he is admitting guilt. At his hearing in Los Angeles on Friday, Salling pleaded not guilty to two counts of receiving and possessing child pornography. Salling faces some pretty serious consequences for his alleged actions whether he turns out to be guilty or innocent.

The charges were brought after federal authorities seized thousands of images of underage girls from Salling's laptop, a hard drive and a USB flash drive last December. Salling was told in court that he must meet several conditions in order to be released until his trial. These include posting $150,000 bail ($100,000 of which must be paid out from his own account), wearing a GPS monitoring bracelet and agreeing to take regular drug tests.

More: Glee's Mark Salling is finally facing his child porn charges

And there's more. Salling's passport was taken away, and he will only be allowed to access electronic devices that have been approved by federal authorities. He isn't allowed to step within 100 feet of a school, park, arcade or any other venue where children hang out.

And it's pretty obvious that his legal woes are going to cost Salling in professional opportunities. The actor, who played Noah "Puck" Puckerman on Glee, was immediately cut from the miniseries Gods and Secrets following news of the child pornography charges.

More: Mark Salling's child pornography case won't be concluding anytime soon

This isn't the first time Salling has had trouble with the law. In 2015, he settled a lawsuit with ex-girlfriend Roxanne Gorzela, who accused him of sexual battery. He was ordered to pay Gorzela $2.7 million.

Salling's trial is set to begin on July 12. If convicted of both federal charges, he faces a minimum sentence of five years and a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

Fixer Upper's Joanna Gaines & Daughter Recreate La La Land Dance

Sometimes, motherhood means trying to get everyone out the door with clean socks on. Sometimes, though, it means channeling Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone in a late-night impromptu dance party with your 7-year-old.

HGTV's Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines and her daughter Emmie Kay had a blast on Wednesday night showing off their best La La Land moves. Gaines posted a video on Instagram of the two of them hoofing it Broadway-style in silhouette — and all we can say is Gosling and Stone better watch out, because these Gaines gals are on fire. Gaines captioned the video, “Late night dance party #emmielou #lalaland.”

Joanna Gaines

Joanna Gaines

Is anybody else surprised to learn that Gaines is actually an amazing dancer? Look at that Fosse footwork! Hey, Dancing with the Stars: Maybe it's time for a parent-child edition.
Gaines and her husband, Chip, have been married for 14 years, and in addition to Emmie Kay, the couple has three other kids: sons Drake and Duke, ages 11 and 8, and daughter Ella Rose, 9. Emmie Kay, the youngest of the posse, has apparently been telling her parents she's ready for a new sibling — ensuring that the fam will be able to perform A Chorus Line eventually.
Joanna Gaines told People about Emmie's wish: “Emmie has never really wanted one, and now she’s like, ‘Okay. I want a brother or sister.' So I’m thinking that might be a sign.”
Chip Gaines sounded less convinced. “I think that’s a sign that Emmie’s lost her mind.” Valid points on both sides.
We're all for more Gaines kids — at least if it means a constant stream of choreography videos. Plus, the Gaineses will soon have more time on their hands for baby-making, since Joanna Gaines confirmed on her blog that Season 5 of Fixer Upper will be their last.
"This has been an amazing adventure! We have poured our blood, sweat and tears into this show," she wrote. "We would be foolish to think we can go and go and fire on all cylinders and never stop to pause. Our family is healthy and our marriage has honestly never been stronger... This is just us recognizing that we need to catch our breath for a moment. Our plan is to take this time to shore up and strengthen the spots that are weak, rest the places that are tired and give lots of love and attention to both our family and our businesses."
Sounds like the family has their priorities straight for sure: rest, love, dance parties. Check.

Have you been trying to be a little healthier lately? Maybe, for instance, swapping out ground beef for ground turkey in some of your favorite recipes? Well, sadly, the plan may have backfired, as one North Carolina producer is recalling 38,000 pounds of its ground turkey.

The contamination of the turkey, from Prestage Foods Inc., was noticed on Sept. 27, when a store found metal shavings inside a package of the turkey.

The turkey was shipped to nine states (Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, Pennsylvania and Tennessee) and includes these products:

  • 1.3-pound white Styrofoam trays with clear plastic film covering packages containing ground turkey labeled "Publix ground turkey breast WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS" with inkjet print on the side of trays displaying the first four digits of 7268 and 7269.
  • 1.3-pound white Styrofoam trays with clear plastic film covering packages containing ground turkey labeled "Publix ground turkey WITH NATURAL FLAVORINGS" with inkjet print on the side of trays displaying the first four digits of 7268 and 7269.
  • 1.2-pound white Styrofoam trays with clear plastic film covering packages containing ground turkey labeled "Fit & Active Fresh Ground Turkey With Natural Flavoring" with inkjet print on the side of trays displaying the first four digits of 7268 and 7269.
  • 1.0-pound white Styrofoam trays with clear plastic film covering packages containing ground turkey labeled "Weis Markets Fresh Ground Turkey Breast" with inkjet print on the side of trays displaying the first four digits of 7268 and 7269.

If you have one of the recalled products, you should throw it away or return it to the place of purchase. And don't forget to check your freezer — you don't want to forget about a package of ground turkey in there only to consume it months from now.

Sherwin-Williams has declared Oceanside their color of the year. It’s a deep blue-green hue that can’t help but make us think of travel. We want to be sitting by the ocean enjoying the breeze. Instead, we’re at work. Dreaming.

“People today have a growing sense of adventure, and it is making its way into even the coziest corners of our homes. We are craving things that remind us of bright folklore, like mermaids and expeditions across continents,”  Sue Wadden, director of color marketing for Sherwin-Williams, told People. “Oceanside is the color of wanderlust right in our own homes.”

If a vacation isn’t on your horizon quite yet, then painting your house with the hues of the ocean is a great backup choice. And if you are looking to be part of the trend but painting your walls is not an option right now, there are lots of great accessories that give you the same vibe, but will also allow you to get your security deposit back. .

Here are some of our favorite accessories that closely resemble Oceanside and will give your home a nice burst of color.

After a six-year acting break, Renée Zellweger is jumping back into the film game in a big way. Not only did she release Bridget Jones's Baby in 2016, but her new movie, Same Kind of Different As Me, looks to be the kind of role we love for Zellweger: A woman who knows what she wants and is just adorably quirky enough that you never say no.

In the film, Zellweger stars opposite Greg Kinnear. They play a struggling married couple who befriends a homeless man, a friendship that takes them on a journey that will change their lives. The film is based on the book of the same name, which also happens to be based on a true story.

Needless to say, the trailer alone is enough to get the tears flowin'.

This isn't the first time Zellweger and Kinnear have shared the screen together. They also appeared together in 2000's Nurse Betty.

Of course, a lot has happened for the two actors since 2000. Zellweger won herself an Oscar for her role in Cold Mountain and Kinnear has appeared in dozens of films and television shows like The Kennedys, which earned him an Emmy nomination.

But it seems their careers have taken them full circle with Same Kind of Different As Me and SheKnows has an exclusive look. In the clip for the film, Zellweger's character, Deborah, is ready to get down to business helping at a homeless shelter. Her husband, Ron (Kinnear), isn't so keen on the idea, but, well, as another shelter helper says as he hands Ron an apron, "My wife wore the pants too."

Pink Juggles Kids, Music & Badassery in Her New Documentary

Many of us will agree that 2017 has not been a banner year. I for one am ready to take a break from the world. How about you? But one thing (the only thing?) 2017 has done well is documentaries about badass female musicians. First, we devoured Lady Gaga's Five Foot Two on Netflix, and now we have Pink's upcoming short film about her life as a pop star mom and how she tries to balance it all without going crazy (a feeling many of us can relate to).

The new film, On the Record: P!nk — Beautiful Trauma, will be out on Apple Music on Oct. 13. Early this morning, the singer tweeted the trailer: "I made a thing with @AppleMusic! It’s a documentary about #BeautifulTrauma – Check out this trailer."

Beautiful Trauma is Pink's seventh album, and the documentary follows its creation — and Pink's challenges balancing career with motherhood behind the scenes. She and husband Carey Hart have a daughter, Willow Sage, 6, and a son, Jameson Moon, 9 months. And all four of them are constantly on the go.

More: 4 Reasons Pink Is Our Total Mom Crush

People released an exclusive sneak peek of the new film, and it seriously looks fantastic. “I would like to put everything I am and everything I have into everything that I do,” Pink says in one scene. “I’d say the hardest part is just trying to figure it all out. I signed up for this when I was 16, and now I have children, and I have a marriage. I just want to always make sure that I’m doing right by them. It’s not a simple puzzle anymore it’s not just me.”

The trailer montage is a crazy blur of kids and rehearsals and video shoots and photo shoots and travel — and just reinforces our general feeling that Pink is one of the natural wonders of the world.

More: Pink Talks Her Daughter Through a Loose Tooth on Tour

“The studio sessions, then you write the songs, and then you have to finish the songs and somebody’s in New York and somebody’s in Philadelphia. Then maybe there’s a choir in Philadelphia and then it’s photo shoots, it’s video shoots, and then you’re in dance rehearsals,” she says in the trailer. “Then you’re on a festival tour at the same time over here and you’re getting ready for your regular tour, so it’s rehearsals and it’s putting on shows and then your 6-year-old has surf camp and your 8-year-old has a vaccination and then your album’s out.”

Yeah, she said "8-year-old," not "8-month-old." Because mom brain exists, even for musical icons. When a producer points out her mistake, Pink laughs, "I said 8-year-old? Ah, shit."

Pink is clearly as excited as we are about the new album and the documentary, as teased by her Instagram post today.

Come on! How can you not love these two together?

It’s been a storybook romance from the beginning, and it’s pretty evident that they are having the time of their lives. Let's hope neither of them breaks the other's heart after the difficult times they each went through before they got together.

The wedding speculation has run rampant for much of their relationship, but it has stepped up a few notches since Stefani’s sons, Kingston, 10, and Zuma, 8, starred in Shelton’s recent wedding-themed music video, “I’ll Name the Dogs.”

While the video focuses in on an older couple getting married, it’s hard not to read into Shelton’s music. Does he have marriage on his mind?

It doesn’t seem like a proposal happened on Stefani’s 48th birthday, but Christmas and New Year’s Eve are just around the corner. It’s the perfect time to propose.

The couple does have a joint venture happening soon with the release of Stefani’s new holiday album. The duo is singing together on the track, "You Make It Feel Like Christmas." The single is out on Friday, Oct. 6, and Stefani teased her fans on Twitter with just a taste of what's to come.

It’s guaranteed to be a new holiday classic because fans just can’t get enough of Shelton and Stefani’s relationship — and it seems like they can't get enough of each other. It's so cute!

Brittany Kerr Aldean could only think of her baby — the one she hasn't even met yet — during the horrific mass shooting on Oct. 1 at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas. Kerr Aldean, wife of singer Jason Aldean, is pregnant; she was watching her husband perform from a tent near the Mandalay Resort and Casino when gunfire began and chaos erupted in the crowd of thousands around 10 p.m. local time.

Idris Elba Was Put in an Awkward Position During Kanye West & T-Swift's Feud

When you're Idris Elba, you're more likely to be walking a red carpet at a major award show versus becoming entertainment magazine fodder. There is one particular day, though, that the actor realized he was living out a tabloid dream: when he co-hosted the 2016 Met Gala with Taylor Swift, who was in the middle of a feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West.

The event occurred about two months before those infamous Snapchat videos were released by Kardashian West in 2016 to act as proof that Swift knew West was going to mention her in his song, “Famous.” For Elba, he apparently fell smack-dab in the middle of this feud and it was a little bit of a surreal experience.

In a recent interview with The New York Times, he talked about how it felt to be a part of pop culture history. “I felt really famous that day. It was a bit awkward because Taylor Swift and I had to present an award,” shared Elba. “We were walking through the crowd and obviously, there was a little beef between Taylor and Kanye. I didn’t know any of this. But I was there! And I was, like, ‘Oh, this is awks.’”

Of course, that feud goes even further back to 2009 when West started the whole mess by rushing the stage after Swift had won Best Female Video for “You Belong With Me" at the MTV Video Music Awards. West’s infamous speech is often quoted because it was so next-level awkward.

Elba is way too smart to insert himself into the beef, but he it seems like he enjoyed the moment just a little bit. It might have been awkward, but we all know Hollywood enjoys petty drama every once in awhile.

Lisa Vanderpump has not had an easy two weeks, and it has nothing to do with the latest drama on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Vanderpump, an avid animal lover and vocal supporter of animal rights, is mourning the loss of not one but two furry friends, her dogs Pikachu and Pink Dog. The sweet pups died within two weeks of each other; surely a tough blow for Vanderpump and her family.

On Wednesday night, Vanderpump shared the news of the loss of her second pet, Pikachu, on Instagram.

“Rest in peace my sweet Pikachu, we will miss you so much,” she wrote. “Such sadness at your loss.”

Vanderpump elaborated on her dog’s death in a statement to US Weekly. “It was unfortunate timing to lose two of our furry children in six days. Pikachu was suffering the last few days, so it gave us some solace when he passed," she shared. "The carers at VCA treated him with love and compassion and he is now at rest. In light of recent tragic events, it makes me appreciate even more the huge comfort that our beloved pets give to us in this very sad world."

While she thinks Pikachu was 11 or 12 years old, Pink Dog’s death was a surprise since she was only 5 years old. Vanderpump even revealed that her husband, Ken, did everything they could to save the dog.

Fans have been reaching out to the reality star to console her and welcome both of the dogs over The Rainbow Bridge, from the name of a poem that is often quoted to console grieving pet owners.

Vanderpump’s love for animals is well known and she is an animal rights activist. She even opened The Vanderpump Dog Foundation back in 2016 to rescue dogs and create awareness about the horrific abuse and slaughter of dogs for the Yulin Dog Meat Festival.

May Pink Dog and Pikachu rest in peace.

Jake Gyllenhaal Plays a Hot Dad in Calvin Klein Ad

It's been mere weeks since Jake Gyllenhaal told People he wants a family of his own, and the Oscar-nominated actor has already gotten his wish. Well, sort of — a new ad campaign for Calvin Klein features Gyllenhaal as a father.

More: Jake Gyllenhaal Got Shifty When Questioned About T-Swifty

According to W, the campaign was shot by photographer Willy Vanderperre, a longtime collaborator of CK's chief creative officer Raf Simons.

The photo of Gyllenhaal, which is sure to set ovaries aflutter, shows the actor sharing a loving embrace with a woman and little girl... presumably the partner and child, respectively, of his character. The trio makes quite the beautiful family, even if it is merely a figment of Simons' imagination.

If you're wondering who the other members of Gyllenhaal's fictional family are, you're looking at Liya Kebede — an Ethiopian-born model, designer, actor and maternal health advocate — and a 4-year-old actor by the name of Leila.

Little else is known about Leila at this time other than the fact that she is clearly supremely cute.

It's no surprise the ad campaign for Eternity Calvin Klein would include Gyllenhaal, as he is the star of the brand's fragrances division. The scent is described as "distinctive, romantic, and timeless" to embody the "sensitive yet masculine, refined yet strong" spirit of the modern man.

We'd say Gyllenhaal captures that essence pretty well. And, hey, fatherhood looks good on him, don't you think? Judging by Gyllenhaal's recent comments on becoming a parent (and his constant gushing over his nieces), this sweet ad campaign probably didn't cure his case of baby fever.
