11 of Our Favorite Gwyneth Paltrow Quotes of All Time

$

Although Gwyneth Paltrow has, on more than one occasion, been accused of being pretentious and polarizing, the reality is that the actress is just brutally honest. While that kind of honesty isn't always easy to hear, it is kind of refreshing, right?

More: Gwyneth Paltrow's New Meal Service Actually Sounds Kinda Good

Whether she's waxing poetic on Goop about a ridiculously indulgent beauty treatment or talking about how wine helped her get through the toddler years with her kids, Paltrow never pulls any punches. It's not something you can say about just anyone, and certainly not about many people in the PR-driven world of Hollywood.

In celebration of Paltrow's upcoming 44th birthday, we've pulled some of the outspoken star's best quotes ever. Here's to you, Gwynnie! Keep on keepin' it real, girl.

On being present

"If I make my kids something delicious and we sit down to eat it, and I put my phone away and I really listen, that is such money in the bank," Paltrow shared with Self in 2016.

On bacon

"I'm not sure how healthy bacon is in general," she shared in My Father's Daughter, "but I know it's incredibly delicious."

On marriage

"I asked my dad once, 'How did you and Mom stay married for 33 years?' And he said, 'Well, we never wanted to get divorced at the same time,'" she told Refinery29. "And I think that's what happens... when two people throw in the towel at the same time, then you break up, but if one person's saying, 'Come on, we can do this,' you carry on."

On hanging with Queen Bey

"Beyoncé's like, 'OK. The singing is great. But you're not having any fun,'" Paltrow said. "She's like, 'Remember when we were at Jay's concert and Panjabi MC comes on and you do your crazy Indian dance? Do that. Be you!'"

On her ideal last meal — and dealing with the toddler years

"Oysters and cocktail sauce, and then a baked, stuffed lobster and french fries. I would have a baguette and a cheese course for my dessert, and red wine," she said. "I drank like crazy [when the kids were babies]. How else could I get through my day?"

More: Gwyneth Paltrow Admitted She Doesn't Even Read Goop

On making time for yourself

"At first, I was lying there [on a massage table], like, 'What am I doing? What am I not doing?' But then I thought, 'Can you take one hour? It's not like you're doing this every day.' So I really let everything go," she told Self. "And after, I thought, I wish I could get to this place every day, at least for a little while."

On craving time with her kids

"I'll probably get kicked out of our school for admitting this, but I let Apple stay home yesterday. I just needed to be with her. We went out to lunch, we went to the beauty salon, we were together," she told Good Housekeeping in 2011.

On being authentic

"I am who I am. I can't pretend to be somebody who makes $25,000 a year," she now-infamously once said.

On finding inner peace in nature

"I'll never forget it. I was starting to hike up the red rocks, and honestly, it was as if I heard the rock say, 'You have the answers. You are your teacher,'" she revealed. "I thought I was having an auditory hallucination."

On one of her favorite food memories

"I had my first bowl of gazpacho when I was 15 in Spain, and the impression it made was a lasting one," she said in My Father's Daughter.

On balance

"You know, I use organic products, but I get lasers. It's what makes life interesting, finding the balance between cigarettes and tofu," she memorably told Harper's Bazaar.

Walmart has a New Delivery Service, & It's Making People Nervous

We’re busy. Sometimes we’re so busy with work and our families and relationships that basic chores like shopping get pushed to the back burner. Eventually, we have to make the time to buy that milk and bread, though, right?

Well, maybe not. Walmart is testing a new idea that is both brilliant and kind of scary. They are one-upping the grocery-delivery concept by bringing your order beyond your front door and into your home, and even placing it in your fridge for you.

More: 31 best beauty products to buy at Walmart

Walmart recently announced this new idea, which they are currently testing in Silicon Valley. How it works: You place an order on Walmart.com, then the items are packed and handed off to a driver, who will then will deliver it to your home. If you don't happen to be home to receive it, the driver will then use a one-time passcode to enter your house and place your delivery in your fridge. The customer receives an instant notification and even has the option to watch the delivery happen in real time over cameras. You can make sure that milk is put away correctly!

Sure, it’s great if you have a lot on your to-do list, but the concept of having strangers in your home is pretty scary. And there’s a lot of trust on the line there: What else will they be doing while in your home to drop off those groceries? The ability to watch the delivery on camera helps, but I don't think I'll be subscribing to this delivery service anytime soon.

Broadway veterans Idina Menzel and Aaron Lohr got married recently in what might be one of the dreamiest weddings of 2017. No, really. We have the photographic evidence. But you don't need photos to know that this happy moment was a long time coming. The performers met over a decade ago while working together on the film adaptation of the hit musical Rent. After a yearlong engagement, the time finally came for the two to take the plunge and walk down the aisle.

You couldn't find a more in-love couple if you tried; I'm convinced of it. Just look at the photos that Menzel posted to both her Instagram and her Twitter page following the dreamy nuptials. In the first photo posted, she wrote, "Wanted to let you know... married the love of my life Aaron Lohr this weekend at our home. Dad & son walked me down the aisle. It was magical. Thank you to everyone who helped make my wedding day so special."

Wearing a beaded off-the-shoulder lace dress and a crystal headband, Menzel is basically a Disney princess come to life — no big surprise since she played Elsa in Frozen. She can be seen in one photo leaning into Lohr, about to kiss him and, oh my gosh, be still my beating heart.

The setting for their wedding looks absolutely dreamy, and knowing that they were surrounded by friends and family after a long, long time of knowing one another feels like the perfect way to begin a new chapter in their lives together.

This will be Menzel's second marriage. She was previously married to another one of her Rent co-stars, Taye Diggs. She and Diggs finalized their divorce in 2014 and now share custody of their son, Walker Diggs.

This Time, It Was Drew Scott Who Was Injured While Rehearsing for DWTS

By now, enough seasons of Dancing with the Stars have gone by for us to know it's practically inevitable that one of the contestants will get injured, either during training or while the show is airing. What we didn't expect was for it to happen so soon and for one of the fan favorites to be the star who's down for the count.

Property Brothers' Drew Scott is recovering from a hamstring injury during a rehearsal that may force him to stick to the sidelines for a while. According to Us Weekly, Scott stopped in the middle of a dance, saying, "It felt like a knot popped in my hamstring. It felt like a snap, kind of."

Scott was reportedly in pain when he appeared on the Dancing with the Stars Snapchat story, icing his leg and giving fans a quick update. "Right now, I can’t bend my leg and put weight on it," he said. "I don’t know what we’re going to do for tomorrow. So annoying."

The day after the injury, Scott opened up about it on Us Weekly's Instagram story.

"Did you all hear a whimper last night?" he wrote. "That was me....lol. I'm sooo mad I pulled my hamstring during rehearsal!"

Scott is far from the first celeb to sustain an injury during the grueling training process for DWTS. Mere days before the news of Scott's injury came out, we learned that his fellow competitor Vanessa Lachey had injured her toe while in the second week of rehearsal. As for Scott, the HGTV host has been put through the ringer for the show; he recently revealed that training caused him to lose 27 pounds before live shows even started.

We hope Scott makes a speedy recovery because we and so many other fans are rooting for him to take home the Mirror Ball.

New Dad Andy Samberg Shrugs, Says, ‘Everyone Gets Peed On’

SNL alum and Brooklyn Nine-Nine star Andy Samberg and his wife, singer Joanna Newsom, weren't talking much at first about becoming parents. They never announced Newsom's pregnancy — and their baby girl's arrival a few months ago came as a total surprise to most of us. We still don't know her name — or birth date. Sneaky celebs.

But Samberg's finally talking about life as a new papa. Or it may just be the sleep deprivation talking, but we'll take it. This week, the comedian told Us Weekly at the Fox Fall Party in West Hollywood that he's only been "sleeping a little bit" since his daughter's arrival.

More: Andy Samberg & Wife Joanna Newsom Secretly Welcomed a Baby Girl

He talked to Us of his baby girl in comic fragments: "She’s not crying all the time. That’s nice. I feel like everyone gets peed on. I don’t have a crazy one. I’d have to mine my mind. I’m too sleepy for remembering memories."

Despite all that, the underslept Samberg seems pretty happy about fatherhood, adding to Us at the event that "it's going wonderfully."

More: Andy Samberg & Joanna Newsom Have Hipster Wedding

The official birth announcement came via Samberg's rep, Jillian Roscoe, who released a statement to USA Today on Aug. 8. Roscoe's statement was more terse and less than celebratory. "We can confirm they had a baby girl and that is all at this time." Oh, Jillian. Why are you the way you are?

Samberg also told USA Today in early August that being a new parent was not half bad. "It feels fantastic!" he told the publication, adding, “They’re in charge. Yes, indeed. But [it's] the best.” Let's hope that little drill sergeant lets you sleep soon, buddy.

Lindsey Graham Used Debunked Videos to Make a Case Against Planned Parenthood

Lindsey Graham, repeat after me: "Planned Parenthood does not sell fetal body parts." We get it — you’re desperate to repeal and replace Obamacare and have failed so many times that it’s embarrassing. But perpetuating a proven lie in order to take crucial medical care away from millions of Americans is dangerous and cruel.

Let’s back up. Last night, Graham (R-SC) and his colleague Bill Cassidy (R-LA) participated in a CNN town hall with Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) to discuss the Republicans’ latest attempt to pass a health care bill. Predictably, like so many previous debates, the subject of defunding Planned Parenthood came up, which is the Republican version of a beauty pageant contestant saying she wants world peace.

More: No, Republicans: Defunding Planned Parenthood Definitely Will Not Save Money

At one point, a woman in the audience shared a personal story about the time Planned Parenthood doctors discovered cysts and benign tumors in and on her ovaries.

“I’m grateful for Planned Parenthood because without their care, it’s quite probable that my husband and I would not have been able to become parents,” she said. “Why would you advocate for a bill that would block women like me from the essential care that helped me to become a mother [and] provides affordable cancer screenings for thousands and thousands of people?”

So, wait. She’s saying that Planned Parenthood helped her become a mother and have kids? As if their purpose as an organization were to provide essential medical care and allow people to determine if, how and when they become parents?

Graham and his cohort are definitely big fans of women getting pregnant and giving birth to babies, so it’s safe to say he was pleased with this outcome, right?

More: Kate Walsh on Why Defunding Planned Parenthood Would Be Disastrous

Nah, to Graham, this seemed like a good time to dredge up a claim that surfaced in altered videos that have been squarely debunked.

“All I can say about this debate, about Planned Parenthood [is] a lot of Americans were pretty upset when they saw the videos of selling body parts of aborted children,” Graham said.

Lindsey, no.

Those edited videos you’re referring to from 2014 were the subject of several investigations, all of which proved them to be fake — not to mention the fact that the two anti-abortion activists behind the videos were charged with 15 felonies. The claims made in the videos regarding Planned Parenthood selling fetal tissues and parts are not true.

Here are some things that are true: Planned Parenthood provides services and information to 2.5 million people — yes, that includes some men — each year and an estimated 1 in 5 women in the U.S. has visited a Planned Parenthood health center at least once. The organization estimates that it helps prevent around 579,000 unintended pregnancies each year.

How to Identify & Fix a Motivational Imbalance in Your Relationship

$
0
0

We know how important it is to find balance in our lives when it comes to work and life. It’s just as important to have balance in our romantic relationship. An imbalance can be super-draining, especially if you feel like you’re doing all the work and your partner is coasting. It may even cause you to resent your partner if you think they’re being lazy, but most relationship imbalances stem from having different personality types. Feel drained but aren’t sure if you have an imbalance in your relationship? First, check these four signs.

1. One partner is resentful

If you or your partner is resentful of the other’s motivation and success, then it’s a sign the relationship is out of balance, notes certified counselor and relationship coach, Jonathan Bennett. “Both partners have gotten on different life trajectories and the gap will only grow if the imbalance continues.”

2. You don’t feel heard & respected

If you feel like your ideas are always shot down or belittled, it may be time to redefine the boundaries and expectations in your relationship, explains relationship expert, Yahya Smith. Because of this, you are not able to help each other grow individually. “If you see no way that your partner is contributing to your growth — in life, love, business, etc. — then you are off balance,” she says.

More: 5 Expert Strategies for Dealing With Office Drama

3. An activity gap

If one partner is constantly busy with fun, exciting activities while the other does little or nothing, then it’s a sign the relationship is out of balance. “While both partners don’t have to be equally active or like the same thing, if one person is very active and the other never does anything, it will eventually create a strain on the relationship,” says Bennett. For example, you always want to go out and your partner always wants to stay in.

4. You feel drained & over extended

It’s as though you have to give and give the right things to be accepted, explains licensed marriage and family therapist, Lisa Bahar. “Feeling as though your partner is never satisfied and noticing you have more resentment than gratitude and are complaining more than admiring is a clear sign of an imbalance.”

Now that you’ve identified the imbalance, here are five tips to help you fix it.

1. Say no more often

Speak up and say no to any unwanted requests from your partner, advises Bahar. “Notice when you are compromising against your better judgment and be willing to communicate and learn how to accept someone not liking you for changing or not giving like you use to.”  Eventually, your partner will get the point that they have pick up their own dry-cleaning or pack their own lunch.

More: The New Rules of Workplace Productivity

2. Set ground rules

For example, you both go out to a club/bar. “Drive separate so the reserved partner can leave whenever they are ready without dragging the outgoing partner away from the fun or agree on a time that you will leave and stick to it,” says relationship expert and professional profiler, Angel Tucker. Pay attention to each other’s feelings at specific times. If you’re the outgoing partner, Tucker says to make sure not to abandon your more reserved partner when out. This will let them know you care about them.

3. Communicate about relationship goals

If one partner isn’t quite as motivated as the other, then communication about shared goals and values can be helpful. “It’s possible the less motivated partner doesn’t feel invested in the relationship and is worried about being left behind or getting dumped,” says Bennett. This means you have to truly understand and empathize with each other.

4. Assign roles in what is happening

For example, if you have both agreed that you need to accomplish a particular task, then assign pieces of that task to each person so that both feel like they are involved, suggests Tucker. “With each person assigned specific roles in the project, it prevents one partner from having everything the way they want it and the other partner wondering why they are even there.”

5. Celebrate each other’s wins

This goes for literal and figurative wins. “If you are very business-savvy and your partner is more spiritual, be open to allowing your partner to motivate you in the area where they are stronger so that you can grow together holistically,” says Smith. She adds that small celebrations can be incentive enough to help an unmotivated person get up and go.

Audrina Patridge's Ex, Corey Bohan, Won't Be Charged With Domestic Violence

Updated Sept. 26, 2017, 9:30 a.m. PT: Due to a lack of evidence, Audrina Patridge's husband Corey Bohan will not be charged with domestic violence, Us Weekly reports. The couple's divorce is still moving forward, and Patridge's restraining order against Bohan will stay in effect.

Patridge detailed years of physical and emotional abuse in her divorce petition, but Bohan is denying everything according to a source. Meanwhile, Patridge is staying with family even though she owns the house they lived in together. Sources say a prenuptial agreement will protect Patridge's wealth and ownership of the house as the divorce moves forward.

Us Weekly does make the important note that while the allegations of domestic violence may be dropped from Patridge and Bohan's divorce proceedings, the case of domestic violence will be pursued in court in a separate case. "A rep for Patridge told Us Weekly on Monday that a family domestic violence case is still open outside of the District Attorney's office. 'Audrina is putting on a brave face, but these exchanges between Audrina and Corey are court ordered to take place at a police station for her protection. There is still a family law domestic violence case open.'"

Original story:

As more details emerge in Audrina Patridge's divorce from Corey Bohan, people who are reportedly close to the former couple are sharing some terrifying details that they say pushed Patridge to file for the divorce and a restraining order from Bohan.

"Over the years Audrina has had many instances where she’s been scared [by Corey] but she finally felt she couldn’t deal with the emotional abuse and fear any longer," an alleged insider told People magazine. "She realized that she needed to end things for good. She got the restraining order because she was afraid how he would retaliate when she filed for divorce, so she had to get some additional protection."

Patridge filed the restraining order for both herself and the 1-year-old daughter she and Bohan share, stating in court documents that she's afraid Bohan will take their daughter to his native Australia. A judge has ordered him to stay at least 100 feet away from Patridge, their daughter and their dog, other than during supervised visits with the baby three times per week.

In court documents, Patridge outlined some of the alleged incidents that pushed her to file for divorce and the restraining order, including one that she described as "the final straw."

"[Corey] was being very aggressive with me, arguing, following me into every single room of the house, repeating himself, getting really close to me as his temper escalated, all because I refused to tell him which person told me that he cheated on me with another woman," Patridge wrote. "I became frightened and said I would talk to him but he needed to let me take our daughter to my grandma’s house or my parents’ house so she wasn’t in the cross-fire."

She continued, "He wasn’t listening and kept following me, cussing, yelling at me. I had Kirra in my arms, trying to leave. [Corey] locked the door and pushed me back with her in my arms. I begged him to please let me go and take Kirra somewhere else, I didn’t want her around all this."

Sonny Kiriakis & Will Horton Had the Most Important Relationship in TV

The return of Chandler Massey to Days of Our Lives this fall has been a huge watershed moment for NBC. The character of Will Horton and his love story with Sonny Kiriakis, played by Freddie Smith, was a groundbreaking one on television. It really is a romance for the ages.

Here are the reasons why we should consider Will and Sonny’s relationship the most important in soap opera history.

Days of Our Lives finally took a leap

Sonny and will first kiss

Sonny and will first kiss

It took DOOL 45 years to embrace a gay character. Honestly, it took far too long to introduce Sonny Kiriakis as its first openly gay character, but the show’s writers gave this storyline major impact. Will Horton was brought on the show as a romantic partner for Sonny a year and a half later.

The storyline was so natural, it just felt right. The writers treated them like any other heterosexual couple on the show. It wasn’t about writing stories for gay characters; it was about writing stories for two people in love.

The right actors

Will and Sonny romantic moments

Will and Sonny romantic moments

To get the storyline to feel organic, the show had to find the perfect pair to execute this story. Smith and Massey had a wonderful chemistry that made their characters feel like they were destined to be together.

Both Smith and Massey had a great understanding of how these characters were supposed to develop and the gravitas of what they were portraying to soap fans.

"As far as Sonny and Will go, I get the power couple thing between them and they have the healthiest relationship on the show, believe it or not,” Massey said to NewNowNext in 2013. “But life throws all these things at them and basically the only way Will can get through it is by leaning on Sonny so they’ll be staying together and only grow deeper in love."

After Massey left the role to return to college, Guy Wilson stepped into Massey’s big shoes to continue the love story, which eventually led them down the aisle.

By the time the Supreme Court of the United States ruled that same-sex marriage was a right in all 50 states on June 26, 2015, Will and Sonny were already married. DOOL had shown fans how important all types of love stories were and how they deserved representation on daytime TV.

Historic moments

Chandler Massey daytime emmy wins

Will and Sonny were the first male-male wedding on daytime TV and they were DOOL’s first male supercouple, who even earned the cute couple nickname, “WilSon.” They were 'shipped on by DOOL fans with numerous Tumblr accounts honoring their relationship and YouTube accounts creating video edits of their most romantic moments.

What’s even more fascinating is that both characters are the children of DOOL supercouples themselves. Will is the son of Lucas and Sami, while Sonny is the son of Justin and Adrienne. This gives the storyline and history an even greater impact.

The show not only had the viewers and critics applauding DOOL for this storyline, the series went on to win four GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Daily Drama for their portrayal of Will and Sonny’s relationship. Massey went on to win three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2012, 2013 and 2014. It was the first time an actor had been honored for playing a gay character. Smith went on to win the same award in 2015.

Sonny mourns will

Sonny mourns will

The greatest injustice done to this couple was in 2015 when Will Horton was killed in the show’s serial murder storyline of the Necktie Killer. Will and Sonny were not in a good place, but Sonny’s reconciliation attempt was thwarted by his husband’s death.

Not many people were happy about this turn of events on DOOL including Alison Sweeney, who plays Will’s mother.

“I thought it was a huge mistake to kill Will, especially for the show's 50th anniversary,” She told TV Guide magazine’s Michael Logan in June 2016. “It still makes me angry when I think about it.”

With Will back in Salem, it looks like the writers are setting up the fans for a love triangle between Will, Sonny and Sonny’s fiancé, Paul. Sonny can’t seem to let go of his love for Will even though he’s set to marry Paul. Is a WilSon reconciliation coming up on the horizon?

Let’s hope so because DOOL threw away one of their most impactful relationships in soap history for a salacious serial killer storyline.

Kim Kardashian West Is Chopping Up Her Dresses for North

It looks like North West won't have to wait until she grows into her mom's Gucci. Nope, that Gucci is currently being shrunk down just for North.

We suppose we shouldn't be surprised that Kim Kardashian West is showing up us slacker mom fans by spending her free time chopping up her old couture and tailoring it to fit her 4-year-old daughter. And if you asked, "What free time?" hey, you're preaching to the choir here. Kardashian West continually amazes us with her multitasking abilities — including balancing her multimillion-maybe-billion-dollar empire with sewing vintage Versaces into Halloween costumes or whatever.

Oh, don't get snarky on us now. Yes, we know Kardashian West probably has five au pairs from Monaco to assist these endeavors — and at least one full-time shoehorn technician to help her into her Jimmy Choos each morning. And there's probably a Cordon Bleu-trained chef on hand to whip up mac and cheese for Saint and North and any other Kardashian cousin who happens to stop by. But still, we must admit the image of Kardashian West slaving away over a sewing machine Project Runway-style to personally tailor her fancy frocks to fit North is pretty damn endearing.

More: Twitter Pounces on Kim Kardashian West for North West's Droopy Faux Corset Dress

In case you weren't keeping up, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star is slowly taking over the world with fashion phone apps, contouring kits and a coffee-table art book. She's also expanding into the world of children's fashion with a line called Kids Supply. And Kardashian West and husband/rapper/fashion dude Kanye West are also reportedly expecting their third child via surrogate. So what have you done lately? I for one just learned how to make kale chips. So...

Kardashian West talked to T Singapore, The New York Times Style Magazine for its October issue and gushed about her life as a mom. "My whole world is my kids, it’s all I care about… from literally every last thing that they do to what they wear, to all their activities. I love being their mom. I definitely don’t hang out with my friends as much just because I have to be with my kids.”

She continued, “It’s been such a fun journey to figure out how our kids like to dress and how to make cool clothes for kids,” she says. “We’ve always been tailoring things and cutting things up, or taking dresses of mine and cutting them down to North’s size.”

North, you lucky thing. Hopefully the pint-size couture wardrobe you've got going on takes the edge off all that sibling rivalry. You've got a puppy and some Gucci party dresses. Come on. What more do you want, kid?

Mom of NFL's Colin Kaepernick Responds to Trump Comment

Do not mess with Teresa Kaepernick — or her baby. Even if her baby is a grown-ass NFL quarterback. Because if you do, you will lose.

You may have noticed a Twitter discussion over the weekend regarding NFL players taking a knee during the national anthem to protest racial injustice and police brutality. And by "discussion," we mean Twitter exploded into a massive dumpster fire thanks to the barrels of gasoline poured on it in the form of Trump tweets that lambasted the players who chose to kneel.

The heated discussion (yes that's a pun and a euphemism) began last season when Colin Kaepernick — the then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback who's currently a free agent — opted to take a knee during the anthem at the beginning of games as a peaceful protest against racism in the U.S.

More: 5 Meaningful Ways to Protest When You Can't Attend a Rally

Trump was not happy, and neither were many other Americans. His tweet firestorm was preceded by his angry speech at an Alabama rally on Friday. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out. He’s fired! He’s fired!'" the president said, according to ESPN.

Trump also tweeted 17 times over the past weekend about his disgust for the protests (he did not send any tweets about hurricane-decimated Puerto Rico, however).

As you can imagine, Trump's "son of a bitch" comment was the subject of criticism from concerned citizens — including Colin Kaepernick's mother, Teresa Kaepernick. Teresa won much of Twitter's heart with her response.

Teresa Kaepernick has since spoken to Deadspin about her now-famous tweet. “I have four sisters and said, ‘You’re not gonna believe this. The president just called me a bitch,’” she explained.

More: Is "Activism Fatigue" a Thing?

“As a mom, you’re protective of your kid," she continued. "I grant you he’s a 29-year-old man, he doesn’t need my protection, but boy, somebody insults somebody you love, and your first instinct is to really wanna just go after him... It’s like a bully on a playground, I guess. It’s almost what I’ve come to expect from [Trump] and what most of us have come to expect from him… We are all just sitting back seeing what’s gonna happen in this country. There’s not much we can really do."

This isn't the first time Teresa Kaepernick has openly supported her son's act of nonviolent protest. She and her husband, Rick Kaepernick, adopted biracial Colin when he was just 5 weeks old after having lost two sons to congenital heart failure. The couple told The Undefeated last year in a statement, "Colin is carrying a heavy load and following a difficult path that he truly believes in. He is putting his entire future and possibly his life on the line for those beliefs... We want people to know that we are very proud of our son and admire his strength and courage in kneeling for the rights of others."

Chip & Joanna Gaines Decided Fixer Upper Season 5 Will Be the Last

It's the end of an era at HGTV. Chip and Joanna Gaines, the couple behind the massively popular house-flipping series Fixer Upper, have announced that they intend to end the show after the next season.

More: You Can Help Chip & Joanna Gaines With Their Next Project

"It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last," they wrote in a joint statement on their shared blog Tuesday. "While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place."

While fans of the show will no doubt struggle with the news, it seems like a good time for the Gaineses to move on. After all, they've probably fixed up every house in all of Waco, Texas, on HGTV's dime. And knowing them, they have something new in the works. We just don't know what it is quite yet.

More: Apparently, Donald Trump Likes to Watch HGTV on Air Force One

But based on their statement, it might be a minute before we see more from the Gaineses. It sounds like they might be ready for a break.

"We’ve been all over the world now," they wrote. "But there’s something really romantic about not just saying, 'Remember where you came from,' but really living that out."

And they want to give their four kids, ages 12, 10, 9 and 7, a chance to grow up outside the spotlight.

"They’re so young, and we want to give them the chance to have a normal childhood," they said. "Family is the most important thing in the world."

We'll be waiting to see what the Gaineses have up their sleeves, but in the meantime, we hope they enjoy taking a little break from their nonstop lives as international celebs.

The Newest Trailer For the Last Pitch Perfect Movie Is Here

The final installment of Pitch Perfect is coming, and sing if you agree that you're not ready to see the end of the Barden Bellas on the big screen. Still, even though it's bittersweet that this will be the last movie in the franchise, it looks aca-mazing, so there's that.

Pitch Perfect 3 trailer

In the newest trailer that just dropped, we see that this time, the Bellas are going international. Just after getting a little bit called out by the present Bellas for being stuck in their pasts as college acapella singers, the Bella alumni jet off to Spain to compete for a spot in a concert for American troops overseas. Obviously, because nothing is that easy for the Bellas, they're met with other groups who are, as Beca puts it, "better at the one thing we do than we are at that thing."

More: Anna Kendrick's New Motto Should Be Everyone's Life Goal

While that's all going down, there's also a record label that says it's interested in signing one of the groups, but from the look of things in the trailer, it's actually just sneakily trying to sign Beca out from under the Bellas. That's bound to cause some drama.

Also, there's a scene where several of the Bellas are running from an exploding building, so whatever is up with that.

One thing we don't see in this trailer (thank goodness) is more of the body-shaming jokes centered around Rebel Wilson's character that have been heavily criticized in the other two films. Honestly, with a cast as talented as this one, there's just no need to resort to body shaming for laughs. We hope that message has finally sunk in this time around.

8 Period Fashion Products You’ll Want to Snap Up This Fall

With vaginas and labia taking center stage at New York Fashion Week this year, reproductive and sexual health is having a major fashion moment. Aside from the destigmatizing effects of wearing your body politics on your sleeve (or shirt), some companies go the extra mile to make sure that their products are actually making a difference. By supporting companies and organizations that strive to educate the public about menstrual equity while providing menstrual products to the people who need them, you can help tear down the menstrual taboo — one pad at a time.

African-print robes

In a perfect world, every person would have the necessary resources to manage their period in a healthy and hygienic manner — but unfortunately, for many people around the world, that’s not the case. Enter Adrienne and Andrew McDermott’s charity fashion line, The Robe Lives, that donates 100 percent of it’s profits to The Cup Foundation.

The hope is that the bright statement robes will act as conversation-starters, allowing for people to get educated on the topic of menstrual equity. In particular, prompting more of a conversation about the fact that adolescent girls in Kenya miss an average of 4.9 days of school every month because of their periods and 1 in 10 African girls skipping school during menstruation and some girls even dropping out entirely due to a lack of access to menstrual products according to UNICEF.

Menstrual pad panties

While visiting Uganda in 2012, Diana Sierra was surprised by how many adolescent girls dropped out of school due to an inability to effectively manage their period. Thus, Be Girl Panties were born.

The Be Girl period panty functions as both a panty and a menstrual pad. Designed with mesh pockets to hold reusable inserts or other absorbent material such as toilet paper, the panties reduce waste and don’t expose users to unnecessary chemicals and perfumes. The panties created a sustainable, culturally relevant solution for girls in Uganda because the product adheres to cultural norms, works for their body types and utilizes resources they already have access to.

This Is Not a Luxury T-shirt

Conscious Period, an organic cotton tampon company, was started by Annie Lascoe and Margo Lang, both of whom were fed up with the lack of ingredient transparency in the menstrual product industry and with the designation of menstrual products as “luxury items.” In addition to making healthy period products more accessible to all, Conscious Period has collaborated with Faircloth & Supply to create the This Is Not a Luxury” tee. The partnership brings the tampon company together with an organization that provides school uniforms to girls in Nepal.

Leak-proof swimwear

One of the worst parts of getting your period in the middle of a vacation is not being able to go swimming without worrying about your menstrual product leaking. Crystal Etienne spent years testing various prototypes and tweaking her designs in order to create swimsuits that could collect menstrual flow with or without the help of a menstrual product. PantyProp sells a variety of styles of swimsuit bottom and one-pieces, helping all women to feel comfortable and confident while on their periods.

Period-inspired bling

British jewelry designer Lili Murphy-Johnson challenges the taboo that surrounds menstruation by bringing the controversy to the forefront of conversations. Her line of period-inspired jewelry features blood-red jewels, pad-shaped gold rings and golden tampon trinkets that are sure to get people talking.

Emergency tampon necklace

Swedish designer Katarina Hornwall has created a necklace pendant to discretely carry an extra tampon on your person at all times. Made of solid aluminum, the chic tampon-shaped pendant opens to reveal a secret compartment for storing an extra product. The minimalist look of the necklace turns a menstrual product carrier into a gender-neutral, high-fashion accessory.

Period. T-shirt

Last year, Johanna and Brittany Cosgrove launched Nope Sisters, a New Zealand-based social enterprise that creates embroidered tees with a simple but strong message. Their first design was the MastectoTee, which featured breast cancer scars inspired by their own mother’s surgery. Profits from the design were donated to a local breast cancer survivor group. Their second design, the NOPE tee empowers wearers to speak out against sexual harassment and assault. Proceeds from this design were passed on to Wellington Sexual Abuse Help Foundation.

The Cosgrove sisters’ newest design, the Period. shirt, is a direct response to the unaffordability of period products. Many students miss out on their education due to a lack of access to menstrual products, so the Cosgrove sisters have teamed up with another local social enterprise that provides subsidized menstrual cups to New Zealand students.

Fashion menstrual cups

The Swedish high-street fashion brand Monki is partnering with Lunette to create standout pink menstrual cups that come in a silk drawstring bag with the words “Periods are cool. Period.” printed across it. Monki’s eight-piece fashion collection also includes decorative pins and custom “Periods are cool.” underwear to continue to spread the period positivity.

The company had pledged to donate 5,000 menstrual cups to The Cup Foundation, an organization that seeks to educate and empower girls living in challenging environments in Kenya by giving them life skills, training and access to menstrual cups.

This Year's Most Adorable Halloween Costumes for Babies

$

Halloween is right around the corner, and pretty soon, your news feed will be flooded with tutus, spandex, face paint and pictures of babies in costumes. And while your baby has literally no idea what Halloween is about, it’s still pretty delightful to dress them up — if only to provide photographic cuteness/embarrassment for their future high school yearbook. Sure, babies are adorable any time of the year, but put them in a costume, and you've got a recipe for instant "awwwww."

Unfortunately, not all costumes are created equal. Some are too cute for words, some are lackluster, and some... well, maybe those parents will get more creative next year. And even though the kiddo probably can't walk or talk yet, they will certainly be the center of attention in one of the getups ahead.

We rounded up 10 of the best Halloween costumes for babies this year. These will leave all the other parents muttering under their breath, "Now, why didn’t I think of that?!"

Hot sauce

This spicy costume is sure to get some knowing nods from those gastronomic daredevils who put hot sauce on everything and probably have some stashed in their bag (swag) at any given moment. This baby is sure to get smiles every time he wears this onesie, because be real. This is not just for Halloween. (Etsy, $36)

The sweetest. Thing. Ever. Babies of all sizes will love this roomy, cozy costume that is also guaranteed to elicit cooing from everyone who crosses your path. Besides, who wants to squeeze their kid into something uncomfortable and have them a) flip a shit or b) discard parts of their costumes once the pictures have been taken, leaving everyone to wonder why that pirate isn’t wearing any pants. (Etsy, $60)

Sushi baby

Two words for you. Sushi. Baby. Dress your baby in this simple suit and there is zero chance you won’t hear, “OMG, how cute! I could eat them up,” a thousand times over the course of this Halloween. Probably best for warmer climes — unless you're prepared to BYO sushi pants. (Etsy, $38)

Rosie the Riveter

Rosie the Riveter! Is there a more perfect costume for your strong baby girl than this cultural icon representing women in the workforce and generally kicking butt? Pair with a speech bubble that says “We Can Do It!” and your little gal will be unstoppable. (Shopzeon, $46)

Baby astronaut

For the next generation of space explorers, this tiny trick-or-treater costume is out of this world — and will have you saying, “One small step for man... and another small step... really teeny steps... maybe go ahead guys, we’ll catch up.” (Chasing Fireflies, $26)

Burrito

Got a babe who’s too young for trick-or-treating? That doesn’t mean they can’t still be the cutest bundle of cheese, lettuce and tomato swaddled in this burrito costume. Take them to Chipotle. See what happens. Maybe you’ll get an actual burrito out of it. (Etsy, $65)

Max from Where the Wild Things Are is a beloved literary character — and it makes perfect sense for your baby to be the "king of all wild things." Good luck getting them to take off the crown when Halloween is over, though. (Jet, $40)

Favorited GoT Couple Kit Harington & Rose Leslie Are Reportedly Engaged

Game of Thrones might be one of the darkest, most twisted shows on TV. Behind the scenes, though, there's cause for some serious celebration — stars Kit Harington and Rose Leslie are reportedly engaged!

More: Kit Harington Was Punk'ed on the Set of GoT

They haven't confirmed anything yet, but People magazine has a source that says the news is legit, and TBH, we wouldn't be surprised. Harington and Leslie have been dating since 2012 (with one short break when they broke up and then quickly reconciled), and they're one of the cutest, sweetest couples out there.

And we already knew they were serious, because Harington admitted on The Late Late Show back in June that they had just moved in together.

More: Game of Thrones Baby Names True Fans Need to Add to Their List

"I’ve moved in with my other best friend, Rose," he said. "I’m very, very happy and it’s going well. She has all sorts of ideas for the house. I said to her — because she moved into my house — I said, 'Look, darling, it’s important that this is our space, that it feels like our space and that you haven’t just moved into mine. Move anything you want around — change anything or chuck anything out.' So I went to the shops and I came back and said, 'What did you decide?' And she went, 'We’re moving the kitchen downstairs.'"

That's not the only time Harington has had a cute story to share about Leslie. He's also shared that his favorite time on GoT was shooting Season 2, in large part because of Leslie.

"Because the country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love," he told L’Uomo Vogue.
