Netflix Just Released New Kids' Features That Are Game-Changing for Parents

What if your kids could choose where their favorite TV storylines go?

Netflix's latest product innovation is choose-your-adventure-style, branching narratives for children's programming.

Intrigued? We sure are. Here's how it works...

Your family snuggles up to watch Puss in Boots... and laughs as Puss in Boots suddenly finds himself in the another story: Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Will the bears be buddies with Puss... or enemies?

You (or rather, your kids) get to choose. Yes, really! The story's arc is guided by the viewer, who nudges the story in the direction he or she wants it to go.

More: 10 kids' TV shows that parents love too

Carla Engelbrecht Fisher, director of product innovation at Netflix, explained in a press release: "Content creators have a desire to tell non-linear stories like these, and Netflix provides the freedom to roam, try new things and do their best work. Being an internet-based company enables us to innovate new formats, deliver at scale to millions of members all over the world on multiple device types and, most importantly, learn from it."

Right now, the interactive offerings are Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale and Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile. Puss and Buddy are helped along by impressive creators: DreamWorks Animation Television, American Greetings Entertainment and Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. This is pretty cool stuff!

The objective of the branching narratives is "to bring something completely new to Netflix that pushes the boundaries of storytelling and the way you engage with it," says Engelbrecht Fisher.

"We’ve done extensive research and talked to lots of kids and parents, collecting qualitative data to better understand if this is something viewers will like. While we’ve gotten positive feedback (for example, parents like the fact their child has the ability to make decisions and take a seat in the director’s chair, if you will), we’re eager to learn how our members will engage with the experience," she said.
So which storylines and choices would be the most popular in your house? Mean bears vs. friendly bears? Will your kids want to try to uncover all the various possibilities and storylines? (We're betting ours would.)
What prompted Netflix to take this risk and choose a new adventure for kids' programming?
"The children’s programming space was a natural place for us to start since kids are eager to 'play' with their favorite characters and already inclined to tap, touch and swipe at screens," Engelbrecht Fisher said. "They also talk to their screens, as though the characters can hear them. Now, that conversation can be two-way. It’s really about finding the right stories — and storytellers — that can tell these complex narratives and bring them to life in a compelling way."
We know your next question is "when?" Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale goes live worldwide today, June 20. Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile will be close on its heels on July 14.
A third narrative, Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout, is planned for a 2018 release. If you're wondering how it works, these new titles will be available on TV and iOS devices.
It will be interesting to see if kids welcome the chance to choose the direction of their favorite stories... or if this will be more a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Johnny Depp's Managers Air His Dirty Laundry About Reckless Spending Habits

It looks like Johnny Depp's legal woes are mounting rather that slowing down. Late Monday, Depp's emails detailing his financial crisis were released by The Management Group, which represents Depp and with which he is currently locked in a legal battle. It turns out that Depp was even more woefully in debt than we ever could have imagined; the airing of this dirty laundry is going to sting for a long time.

More: Johnny Depp's Alleged Downward Spiral Was Extremely Lavish

E! News obtained the official documents, which "include 11 exhibits of email correspondence between Depp himself, his sister Christi Dembrowski, and other lawyers, agents, managers and bankers regarding the movie star's accounts." E! was also able to report that these emails allege Depp's accounts were overdrawn by nearly $4 million as of 2010. This is bad, bad news for Depp.

More: Johnny Depp's New Japanese Beer Commercial Is Here & Confusing

The emails also make it appear that Depp's spending has been out of control for quite some time. In 2009, around the time that Depp starred in Public Enemieshis business manager Joel Mandel reportedly reached out to him to discuss curbing his spending habits. As E! reports, "He advised his client to 'take it easy on holiday spending' and 'discuss some dollar limit' on participating in a Dillinger Museum auction," which implies the Pirates of the Caribbean star's spending habits were not only lavish, but they were reckless as well.

While Depp acknowledged his spending was out of control and repeatedly attempted to quell Mandel's worries about his spending (including telling him that he would try to curb holiday spending during a family vacation), he appears to have believed his large salaries in various films were a solution to his financial woes. "According to Johnny, he was set to earn $20 million for The Tourist, $35 million for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and $20 million for Dark Shadows," E! reported. Now, amid this legal battle, it seems as if this money has come and gone.

More: Johnny Depp Reportedly Has Receipts in His Million-Dollar Lawsuit

This battle began when Depp alleged that his business managers cost him millions in their handling of his finances. TMG alleges these emails will help to prove that it was Depp who was at fault and not them. Per E!'s report, TMG stated that "Depp wants to deny this discovery because it will establish that TMG did everything within its power to make Depp, and all of his closest advisors, fully aware of Depp's financial condition. If TMG was trying to hide Depp's finances to cover-up their alleged misconduct, they would not have repeatedly advised Depp's long-term personal lawyer, Jake Bloom, and his longtime agent, Tracey Jacobs, regarding the situation."

And the winner of the Ultimate Cool Dad Award goes to (drumroll, please): Dave Grohl for encouraging his daughter Harper to show off her mad drum skills at a Foo Fighters show in Iceland (extra cool points there for the location).

Not a bad Father's Day for Grohl to get to share his love of music with 8-year-old Harper on a big stage.

Harper got set up on stage as her dad proudly shared the backstory of his daughter's surprise drumming event.

"About two weeks ago, my daughter said, 'Daddy, I want to play the drums,'" Grohl said. "And I said, 'OK — you want me to teach you?' and she said yes. And then I said, 'Do you want to get up on front of 20,000 people in Iceland and play?' And she said yes."

In rock-and-roll daughter style, Harper drummed for the band during a cover of "We Will Rock You" by Queen — the first song she'd learned as a drummer. How awesome is that?

Her dad said proudly, "There's another Grohl on the drum set now."

Top 14 Most Sexually Charged Excerpts From Erotica Books

Over the years, erotic novels have garnered a bad reputation for being horribly cheesy. Blame it on bad cover art, blame it on a few poorly-written books, blame it on Fabio — but most of us either avoid erotica because we're embarrassed to be caught with it or read it in secret, hoping never to be found out.

However, it's time to flip the script. Erotica is a legitimate form of literature, and it's frickin' hot as hell. What's not to love? Now that BDSM and other kinds of kink have gone mainstream, it's about damn time erotic novels stepped out of the shadows.

If you're curious about erotic novels (duh, who isn't?) and aren't really sure where to start, we've rounded up some of the best sex scenes ever written. Now get going.

"'God, David.' I arched against him when he moved to my other breast. Two fingers worked inside me, a little uncomfortable but nothing I couldn’t handle. Not so long as he kept his mouth on me, lavishing my breasts with attention. His thumb rubbed around a sweet spot and my eyes rolled back into my head. So close. The strength of what was building was staggering. Mind-blowing. My body was going to be blown to dust, atoms, when this hit. If he stopped, I’d cry. Cry, and beg. And maybe kill... I came, groaning, every muscle drawn taut. It was almost too much. Almost."

"When she saw that he was dissolved with pleasure, she stopped, divining that perhaps if she deprived him now he might make a gesture towards fulfillment. At first he made no motion. His sex was quivering, and he was tormented with desire… Marianne grew desperate. She pushed his hand away, took his sex into her mouth again, and with her two hands she encircled his sexual parts, caressed him and absorbed him until he came. He leaned over with gratitude, tenderness, and murmured, 'You are the first woman, the first woman, the first woman…'"

"He drove his tongue inside her, setting off another shattering moan that was music to his ears. She was quite an instrument to play, so finely tuned, and if he touched her right, she made the most glorious sounds — raw, intense, absolutely delicious noises of pleasure as he plundered her with his tongue. She grabbed his hair, yanked and pulled him closer as he’d told her to do. He thrust one finger inside her, crooking it and hitting her in the spot that turned her moans into one long, high-pitched orgasm. She shuddered against him, her legs quaking, and when he finally slowed to look up at her, he saw her hair was a wild tumble, and her face was glowing."

"Then his hands came to life. He went as if to rub his wrists, then he reached for the blindfold, his fingers dancing right in front of it without touching it, and then he reached out for me. I jumped. He caught me by the arms, wrapping his fingers all the way around them and bringing me forward. And then he realized I was naked, and he felt my sides and my breasts, giving a little startled noise. And before I could stop him, he had pulled me to him, forcing me against his chest. His cock was thumping against my sex, and he kissed me in that shocking way and I realized he had lifted me off my feet."

Ringo’s body was very different from Andre’s, and I liked it better. He was taller, more wiry, and one of those men who isolate the action of the pelvis from the rest of the body, who thrust without smothering, supporting their torso with their arms. But Andre seemed more mature to me, his flesh was not so spare, he already had less hair and I liked going to sleep bundled up next to him with my buttocks against his belly, telling him we were a perfect fit."

"'Five ... four ...' he said in my ear.

"The tram slowed and my heartbeat accelerated.

"'Three ... two ...' his voice taunted me.

"Every point in my body sparked with desire until I hit the golden spot. Then my back arched, my mouth opened and I lost all control of my senses. 'One,' I screamed and collapsed against him.

"He blew softly on the exposed center of her. 'But?'

"She inhaled, the breath ragged and not enough, and though it was he who knelt, it was she who confessed.'But I wanted to.'

"He rewarded her honesty with his mouth, consuming her like fire, his tongue stroking in long, slow licks, curling in a slick promise at the hard center of her pleasure, and she lifted her hips to meet his remarkable mouth, not caring that the action could be called nothing but wanton. She did want. She needed."

No teasing this time, my journalist. I will feel you. All of you. He sucks on my lower lip. He runs his fingers through my hair. Then his hand is on my breast, thumb on my nipple.

"Noelle is at our side, watching, touching herself. Only once does she lean forward and suckle at his shoulder. His mouth leaves mine and finds hers. He earns a delicious purr before I pull on his hair to get him back to me.

"I am dripping, and I can feel Avery, hard against my stomach, bigger than my husband. I wonder if Timothy will like that or turn Avery into a submissive pet, punished for his obscene show of masculinity. Then, he’s pressed to my opening, but he freezes. I look into his curious eyes. She cradled his hips with her thighs. And then he was at the portal. The sharp pain she had once endured was a distant memory, and nothing, absolutely nothing in this world, felt as good as the sensation of him slowly sliding into her.

"'Are you all right?' he asked. He sounded as if he was holding himself in check, as if it took all of his will to do so.

"The sudden, delicious sense that Jonathan is hers, for now, entirely and completely hers, fills her with as much force and speed as his hard cock. As his thrusts gain a steady tempo, she brings her hands to his pecs, his nipples, down his abs, clamping her legs around his waist, driving him further into her until their sweat-slick bodies are sliding together, and he's whispering in her ear, 'I never knew you were such a dirty girl, Emily Blaine.'"

"When at last I entered his chamber, I was positively quivering with excitement. The Beast was sitting in a chair in a remote corner of the darkened room. Removing my robe, I positioned myself on the edge of the bed in just the way he liked best, as was my habit. Within seconds I was soaking wet and aching for him. That's the way it was for me with the Beast. It was enough just to wait there, trembling and poised on my hands and knees, anticipating what was to come, to bring about that kind of response in me.

"I had not even heard him move when suddenly I felt his crude hands caressing my soft skin. 'Turn around,' he said suddenly in a gruff whisper.

"My toes brushed his chest and I splayed my hands wider. He sucked on my clit, kneading my ass. He'd surprised me the first time he'd penetrated me in both places, introducing me to a new realm of sexual fantasy. It was easy to imagine this moment happening in a movie. Just thinking about what we were doing and where was so hot I almost came from the mental picture alone. Ilyan put me down and grabbed my hand, tugging me upright.

"'Huh?' I blinked at him, a little lust crazed. He dug in his pocket for his wallet and slapped it on the table before kicking off his pants and underwear. I flipped it open and took out the condom he'd placed there this morning — just in case. So far we'd needed all of his just-in-case condoms. I tore the packet open but he took the bit of latex from me before I could roll it on him and did it himself. He pulled me to the edge of the table and thrust into me. I gasped and gripped the edge as my body stretched to accommodate him. The feel of him was growing more familiar. He leaned over me, forcing me back almost to my elbows and thrust, sinking fully into me."

"He gently bites my top lip, sucks it. Tugs at my nipple, rolling it between his thumb and forefinger.

"I feel it harden.

"I feel him harden.

"I feel myself getting wet.

"I wet my finger, run it up the lips of my pussy and imagine it’s his tongue, wetting the wings of my labia, feeling them flutter and spread, circling my clit and flicking it. Blood rushes to my head, to my clit. I feel dizzy."

Gal Gadot Was Grossly Underpaid for Playing Wonder Woman

It's no secret that Wonder Woman is proving to be a massive box-office success. The numbers are still climbing, but Forbes estimates that Wonder Woman has made about $600 million since its opening weekend earlier in June and those box office receipts will most likely continue to climb. In light of this, curiosity about Wonder Woman lead Gal Gadot's salary has been revived, and it's come to light that her salary comes nowhere close to reflecting what would be appropriate with those box office receipts.

More: The Best Reactions to Wonder Woman From Men

While it's been public knowledge since she first signed her contract with Warner Bros. Studios in 2014 for a three-picture film deal, the news that Gadot only made $300,000 for Wonder Woman can come as a bit of a shock. It's incredibly irksome to know that Gadot, who was a relative unknown when she first signed on to make three films as Wonder Woman for these DC Comics films, is locked into making such a low amount while the film she led is raking in the dough. While it cannot be confirmed precisely how much her superhero actor counterpart Henry Cavill (also a relative unknown when he signed his Warner Bros. contract) made (Refinery29 has quoted $14 million, but there's no hard evidence on this), his salary is being used as an example of the extreme wage gap between men and women working in Hollywood.

On Twitter, one user, Sarah, offered up the explanation that Gadot's $300,000-a-film salary is actually the industry standard, so there's no reason to pitch a fit. In fact, other famous actors currently playing superheroes made the same amount for their origin story films.

Sarah goes on to argue that if anything, Gadot has incredible leverage to bring to the table should she renegotiate her contract with Warner Bros. or decide to sign a new contract elsewhere.

Sarah's got a point, but I can't deny that it's galling as hell that we're even talking about the wage gap in 2017, especially when there are strong implications that Gadot is not being compensated appropriately. I mean, how does that even make any damn sense? While we may not know if her contract included bonuses for the Wonder Woman box office receipts or similar extra compensation, I think that she deserves a raise no matter what; she's definitely earned it.

You know who's just about at the end of her rope with dumb shit? Current Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay. After an idiot with the catchphrase "Waboom" officially became one of the men trying to woo her on the show and another man who had "trouble" written all over him (I'm looking at you, DeMario Jackson), Lindsay's had a tough go of it these last few weeks. Now, seemingly tired of the nonsense, Lindsay's clapping back at a low-key racist tweet. Yes, queen!

Then, out of nowhere, former Bachelor contestant Leah Block decided to tweet out, "I'm sitting here watching @BacheloretteABC and my roommate just sat down on the couch and said, 'what is this? @LoveandHipHop?' DEAD." Uh, no, Miss Block. That will not fly under Lindsay's radar unnoticed.

Without missing a beat, Lindsay retweeted her and simply said, "Let me know if she wants to meet Lee... it sounds like they have a lot in common." According to BuzzFeed, the backlash from Bachelorette fans against Block was so great that she promptly deleted the tweet and set her social media accounts to private after attempting to explain her actions.

Camila Banus is involved in a big storyline right now on Days of Our Lives. For any actor, having a prominent role is an honor when a show has an ensemble cast. Banus should be excited by the opportunity, but instead, she’s clapping back at the haters.

More: Camila Banus talks Gabi the stowaway, Will's return & a blind item

Her character, Gabi, is currently a part of a love triangle, which wedges her between supercouple Chad (Billy Flynn) and Abigail (Marci Miller). In May, Banus talked to SheKnows Soaps about the difficult position her character was put in.

“It’s going to be so confusing, honestly,” explained Banus. “Up to now, all that she’s been saying [to Chad] about Abigail is, ‘She’s your wife, and she’s the mother of your child. It doesn’t matter if she had a mental breakdown, she is your wife.’ ”

The love triangle is a complex story and one that Banus’ character doesn’t take lightly, even if she knows it is wrong.

“Gabi cares about Abigail,” she told SheKnows Soaps. “She was my best friend and I care about her health. I care about her physically and emotionally.”

Banus knew she was stepping into a storyline that some DOOL fans wouldn’t like. She’s been handling the backlash pretty well. Even Flynn stepped in to support her.

That doesn’t mean Banus isn’t feeling a little hurt by the reaction — she is human after all. In fact, one of Banus’ supporters sent over flowers to brighten her day and the kind gesture obviously worked. She posted her gratitude on Instagram.

At this point, the cyberbullies need to chill. DOOL always shoots six months ahead of schedule and new head writer Ron Carlivati’s scripts haven’t even aired yet. A regime always brings in fresh perspectives. If you don’t like where the Chad-Abigail-Gabi storyline is headed, it’s probably going to shift as Carlivati takes the show in a new direction.

In the meantime, it’s important to remember that DOOL is all fiction.

BiP to Resume Production, Denies Any Misconduct On Set

Updated June 20, 11:00 a.m. PT: There's been some stunning news out of the Bachelor in Paradise camp today as we are now learning that Bachelor in Paradise will resume production following the serious allegations of sexual misconduct and consent violation against BiP contestant Corinne Olympios. The Hollywood Reporter, one of the first outlets to publish a full rundown of this news, reported that Warner Bros. found no evidence of misconduct on the BiP set.

Warner Bros. official statement on the matter reads thus: "As we previously stated, we recently became aware of allegations regarding an incident on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We take all such allegations seriously. The safety, security and well-being of the cast and crew is our number one concern, and we suspended filming so that the allegations could be investigated immediately and thoroughly. Our internal investigation, conducted with the assistance of an outside law firm, has now been completed. Out of respect for the privacy interests of those involved, we do not intend to release the videotape of the incident. We can say, however, that the tape does not support any charge of misconduct by a cast member. Nor does the tape show, contrary to many press reports, that the safety of any cast member was ever in jeopardy. Production on this season of Bachelor in Paradise will be resuming, and we plan to implement certain changes to the show’s policies and procedures to enhance and further ensure the safety and security of all participants."

This is a shocking conclusion to what has been an incredibly tumultuous time for all involved with BiP. Just last week, both Olympios and contestant DeMario Jackson (who were both at the heart of the allegations of misconduct) had reportedly secured lawyers. Additionally, Olympios' legal team was denied access to the tapes of the incident in question by Warner Bros., which makes the studio's investigation conclusion all the more disheartening; what might have been uncovered if this had not just been an internal investigation?

It's still unknown whether the show will stick to the previously schedule premiere date of August 8 or whether Olympios and Jackson will be involved at all in any further filming.

Updated June 15, 7 p.m. PT: In the midst of the firestorm following allegations of misconduct on the Bachelor in Paradise Season 4 set, Us Weekly has obtained a press release revealing real-life repercussions for DeMario Jackson.

As outlined in the release, Jackson told Inside Edition that he has been fired from his job as an executive recruiter in the wake of the troubling accusations. However, the 30-year-old underscored that he does not hold Corinne Olympios accountable for the job loss.

"I don't blame anyone right now. All I want is the tapes," he said, referring to video footage of the alleged incident at the heart of the misconduct investigation.

Updated June 15, 2 p.m. PT: An anonymous crew member from Bachelor in Paradise has described the alleged incident between Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson that shut down the show's production, and it is truly horrifying.

(Trigger warning: Graphic depiction of sexual assault)

"Corinne and Demario found out when they arrived in Mexico that the story line would involve the two of them hooking up so they decided to hang out and get better acquainted over drinks," the insider said. "Soon they decided to go swimming and then they climbed into the Jacuzzi, they were both loaded. Corinne proceeded to remove her bathing suit and things got increasingly sexual. There was hugging and kissing and touching, but before long, she seemed to go limp and was sliding under water. DeMario kept trying to hold her up and at the same time he appeared to be having intercourse with her. After he finished — which only lasted a few seconds — he lifted her out of the water and laid her on the cement, where he proceeded to have oral sex with her. She appeared to be unconscious. At that point some of the crew came out and carried her off to her room. She was limp and seemed unable to walk on her own."

The source continued, "One of the things that really disturbed people was that no one called a doctor or paramedic, which some felt they should have. Instead someone made the decision to just let her sleep it off. When Corinne awoke the next morning, people began filling her in on what happened the night before, because she claimed to have absolutely no recollection of what transpired."

Jackson still denies any wrongdoing. In text message screenshots reportedly of a conversation between Jackson and a friend, he claims the footage from that night will exonerate him. Both he and Olympios have hired lawyers and seem to be gearing up for a battle.

Updated June 15, 3:55 a.m. PT: Mere hours after news broke that Corinne Olympios had retained the services of powerful Hollywood lawyer Marty Singer as the investigation into the allegations of sexual assault on Bachelor in Paradise deepen, the other major figure in this case has spoken out.

Late on Wednesday evening, DeMario Jackson released a statement to E! News about his own current feelings about the events of this incident. "It's unfortunate that my character and family name has been assassinated this past week with false claims and malicious allegations," Jackson told E! News in a statement via his publicist, Eve Sarkisyan-Nunn. "I will be taking swift and appropriate legal action until my name is cleared and, per the advice of legal counsel, will be seeking all available remedies entitled to me under the laws."

Jackson has maintained his innocence in light of accusations about his behavior on the Bachelor in Paradise set since the news broke. Earlier on Wednesday, SheKnows also reported that Jackson's first actual statements to the press were actually to a group of paparazzi, who caught up with Jackson outside a local Starbucks. There, he gave no comment except to say how wonderful a person Olympios is.

With news that Jackson has lawyered up, it appears the case around this Bachelor in Paradise incident is showing no signs of slowing down.

Updated June 14, 12:30 p.m. PT: Corinne Olympios has released a statement about the halting of production on her season of Bachelor in Paradise, and in it, she confirmed our worst fears: What happened on set was something terrible and damaging.

"I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened on June 4. Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production," Olympios' statement read.

She continued, "As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality. As I pursue the details and facts surrounding that night and the immediate days after, I have retained a group of professionals to ensure that what happened on June 4 comes to light and I can continue my life, including hiring an attorney to obtain justice and seeking therapy to begin dealing with the physical and emotional trauma stemming from that evening."

If Olympios doesn't even remember the night in question, it basically confirms early rumors that the sexual encounter she had was not consensual. A woman who is blacked out drunk cannot consent, period.

Olympios' lawyer is top Hollywood lawyer Marty Singer, a ferocious litigator who has represented countless stars through scandal.

DeMario Jackson, the other BIP star implicated in the event on set, has already maintained his innocence, and claimed that the footage shot by the producers who stood by and watched Olympios' alleged assault take place will clear his name.

The whole situation is ugly and heartbreaking, and its repercussions are sure to ripple through Bachelor Nation for some time. In the meantime, our hearts are with Olympios, who is in the midst of an experience no woman should have to endure.

Updated June 14, 8:15 a.m. PT: DeMario Jackson has broken his silence — except not really.

For the first time since Bachelor in Paradise production was shut down over allegations of sexual misconduct, Jackson was spotted by paparazzi on his way out of a Starbucks in Los Angeles and asked about the constantly developing rumors surrounding the show.

His reply? "No comment," he told reporters. He did add, "I have nothing to say. You know, Corinne's an awesome girl and that's all I have to say. Love you all, thank you for the support."

A source close to Jackson told Entertainment Tonight that footage will tell a different story than the headlines have.

"He's definitely said a few times that based on his conversations with other cast mates who were there that they never felt like it was to the level it's being portrayed," the insider said. "DeMario feels the footage [from the show] will back up his side."

Updated June 13, 7:50 a.m. PT: The King of Bachelor Nation himself, Chris Harrison, has finally spoken out about the rumors surrounding Bachelor in Paradise, and he's honestly putting our minds a little more at ease, considering how disturbing some of those rumors have been.

"By now, no doubt, you have heard that we have suspended production on this season’s Bachelor in Paradise," Harrison's statement began. "I can confirm to you that this is sadly the case. Out of respect to all involved, there’s only so much I can and will say at this time. Normally with a situation like this I would not say anything until the incident is fully resolved, but with all the rumors and misinformation being put out there, I don’t find that to be possible anymore."

Harrison continued, "Let me start by saying the safety and care of the cast and crew of our show is of the utmost importance to us. It is with this thought in mind that we made the decision to suspend filming. An investigation into the situation was started immediately. Warner Bros. is handling the details of that investigation. They’re moving quickly to gather all the facts, and once that’s done, a clear, concise decision can be made about where we go from here."

Harrison also briefly addressed press reports about the incident, specifically saying at least some of what's in the headlines is misinformation. "There are a lot of competing details in the various press accounts of the incident," he said. "And there’s a lot of misinformation out there too. We urge everyone to be patient until the investigation is complete."

He concluded, "I know in this day and age we want — and even expect — immediate answers, but in this case, it’s just not possible. So again, I urge you to please be patient and respect the privacy of the parties involved. I will keep you as informed and up to date as I possibly can. We’re sorry for any inconvenience and disappointment this may have caused the cast, the crew and our loyal fans. It is my sincere hope that we can come to a quick resolution on this and get back to work very soon."

Now we just hope that Harrison isn't sugarcoating this situation.

Updated June 12, 10:00 a.m. PT: New reports are coming out about Bachelor in Paradise and rumors that the season has been canceled following "sexual misconduct" on the set.

People magazine reports that two separate sources, including an anonymous contestant from Season 4, have said producers filmed DeMario Jackson in a sexual encounter with Corinne Olympios while she was allegedly too drunk to consent. "The show absolutely values the primacy of consent, and this instance it appears as though conduct allegedly occurred without the proper consent having been given," a production source told the site.

A cast member from the show claimed that two other contestants saw the incident happen and said that cast members are upset producers didn't stop filming or intervene. "People are pissed, and not just at DeMario. We’re pissed that this whole thing happened," the unnamed contestant told People. "They could have seen that she was drinking too much and that he was taking advantage. They could have stopped this before it got this far. But they decided to let it go, and let it happen, and see what happened? So, I’m angry at the show, and everyone else is too."

Multiple sources have said that Warner Bros. is investigating the alleged incident. People reached out to Mexican police, who were not aware of any incident on set.

Meanwhile, some former BIP cast members have weighed in, including Robby Hayes and Chad Johnson. In retrospect, their comments about the incident are anything but comforting.

"What happens in paradise, stays in paradise. #NoComment #BIP4," Hayes wrote, showing a shocking disregard for the sensitive and traumatic nature of the sexual assault investigation that could be happening.

Johnson's reactions, however, appear to be much worse. On his Twitter, he made a couple of callous jokes and alluded to his own misconduct that got him removed from Season 3 of Bachelor in Paradise.

"I'm excited for The Bachelor in Pornadise," he wrote, adding, "TV Shows I've been on - 4... TV Shows I've messed up so bad that they had to stop filming - 0"

Our thoughts are with Olympios, and here's hoping the rest of Bachelor Nation can keep their mouths shut unless they have support to offer her.

Updated June 12, 2017, 5:20 a.m. PT: Following the unexpected reports of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise, which resulted in a full shutdown of production, new reports on the exact cause of the misconduct are now being revealed.

Entertainment Tonight has confirmed that Olympios and Jackson's alleged sexual misconduct on the BIP set led to a total shut down on filming. According to an ET source's recollection of the events leading to the shutdown, things were going as expected in the first days of filming. Arrivals went smoothly, filming went smoothly and so forth. The cast was, as the source says, "drinking all day, having a good time… the guys and girls were bopping around, talking to everyone, trying to make connections.'"

Then, during what sounds like a filmed mixer or meet-and-greet between the cast, the alleged incident occurred. The source revealed to ET that Jackson was in the pool when he was approached by Olympios. The two reportedly began chatting, then Olympios may have "hop[ped] onto [Jackson's] lap" at which time things got very sexy. Maybe a little too sexy.

Jackson and Olympios' actions reportedly made a BIP producer feel uncomfortable to the point that filming was halted and then the decision was made for filming to be postponed altogether. There is still no word at this time on whether Jackson or Olympios will face any serious repercussions for their actions or if filming will resume at a later date. ET's report indicates that Jackson reached out to Olympios via social media and the two may have reconciled about the incident. No other cast members are on record at this time about the incident.

Warner Bros. did release a statement about the BIP incident, which Us Weekly reports says, “We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico. We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action."

[A previous portion of this update to the story has been edited for sensitivity. It was written before the more specific details of the allegations of misconduct were learned and upon further reflection, it was insensitive given the severity of the allegations.]

Original story:

A concerning start to the week this Sunday as Bachelor in Paradise — spinoff of the Bachelor and Bachelorette franchises, where the “losers” from previous season hook up and cause drama on an island somewhere — has halted shooting of Season 4 due to “allegations of misconduct on the set,” according to a statement issued by Warner Bros. The show has a release date of Aug. 8, but all dates are subject to change with this stoppage.

“We have suspended production,” the Warner Bros. statement continued. “We are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action.”

The cast members of this season were released just last week, and shooting had started after that at a resort in Sayulita, Mexico. So what could have happened? Rumors have started that the incident was between Corinne Olympios, the infamous villain from Nick Viall’s season, and DeMario Jackson, the infamous idiot who joined the cast of this season of the Bachelorette while he had a girlfriend.

This detective work as to who was involved comes from Reality Steve, aka Steve Carbone, who regularly spoils reality shows on his blog. He tweeted a photo that was sent to him by a fan, who snapped the picture at the airport after meeting the whole cast.

It’s unlikely that anything but a proper, legal statement will be released by BIP, ABC, and/or Warner Bros., but it is concerning that two notorious cast members and villains would be involved so early into shooting. Here’s to hoping something is smoothed over for a fun season of nonstop sexual energy on a beach.

“We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico,” Warner Bros. told Us in a statement on Sunday. “We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Your Nipples Can Change Colors, so This New Beauty Trend May Not Apply

A new beauty trend has people seriously questioning how they used to pick out their shades of nude lipstick in the past. The best part? It’s not just coming from any random corner of the vlogosphere. The television show The Doctors actually aired the tip, which states that in order to find the best shade of nude lipstick for your skin tone, you should be flipping up your shirt and matching it to the color of your nipples.

What a time to be alive.

“We have a great way to pick the best shade for your face,” physician Travis Lane Stork says in the clip. “What you want to do [is] you want to match your nipple color. Nature knows best.”

Nature knows best… You have to admit, this theory does kind of make sense, however wacky it may seem upon first glance.

But pause — before you start sharing the news with all your makeup-savvy friends (or worse, attempting to determine the exact HTML color code of your nip by standing in front of the mirror, comparing hues), know that there is a flaw within the areola philosophy. That flaw all comes back to science and the intricacies of the human body, which is kind of where we started in the first place.

Nipples change color à la a plethora of different factors. Pregnancy and birth control can alter the natural color of your nipples, as hormone levels dictate your nipples’ coloring. Another factor is heat: blood flow, whether or not you’re cold or hot, can affect the nipples’ shade.

So before you go testing out The Doctors’ beauty rule, make sure that you’re not too hot, not too cold, not experiencing fluctuating hormone levels, not pregnant and not on birth control. Or if you are, be prepared to have to rematch your lipstick shade once these circumstances change.

Kate Winslet Is Hoping for a Reunion With Leonardo DiCaprio

In case you were wondering, the friendship between Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio is stronger than ever. I learned of this fact when I read over Winslet's recent comments made at a press conference for The Mountain Between Us, her newest film about surviving in the perilous and wintry wilderness with Idris Elba (Side note: Can someone sign me up for that, please?). It seems like it was not lost on reporters at the conference that at the thought of Winslet surviving in a frozen tundra against all odds, she may have been able to call on a certain someone for help and use her Titanic training to help her during the shoot: DiCaprio. And of course the topic of whether or not they would actually work together again came up too.

"This was much harder than Titanic because we really were at 10,000 feet and it really was -38 degrees Celsius," Winslet told E! News. "I definitely had Titanic flashbacks. How could I not? Freezing cold. Me falling into that cold water." Additionally, it was not lost on Winslet that the shooting conditions for The Mountain Between Us were incredibly similar to the conditions she filmed under back in 1997. "It was definitely reminiscent of certain other challenging, strenuous experiences I had 20 years ago," she told reporters.

Naturally, given the direction of the questions about shooting conditions and Titanic, the question of DiCaprio came up. Winslet revealed that she actually consulted with The Revenant star about her new role, which is arguably quite similar to DiCaprio's own wilderness-survival film for which he won an Oscar. "[Leo and I] did speak before filming and he did sort of say to me, 'Oh my god, you are crazy. It's going to be freezing cold. Do you honestly know what you are sending yourself up for?'"

Of course, the one thing that everyone was wondering at that point — or maybe it's just me wondering it as I write about it — is whether or not Winslet would act with DiCaprio again. Given that they've delivered two explosive and well-received performances in Titanic and Revolutionary Road as well as maintained as 20-plus-yearslong friendship, the chances are high, right? "At the moment, no," Winslet told reporters. "There's nothing that Leo and I have planned. But as always I would love to work with him again one day but who knows? It might not happen until we're 70."

Gosh, can you even imagine what a movie with an elderly Winslet and DiCaprio would look like? Pretty freaking amazing, if I'm honest.

Pregnancy Diaries: The Mom Whose First Birth Experience May Have Scarred Her

In our new series Pregnancy Diaries, we ask expecting women to jot down every pregnancy-related detail of their lives for a week. (Special thanks to New York mag and Refinery29 for the inspo.) Work-related conundrums, struggles with IVF and a whole lot of nausea ahead. This week, we meet Emily, a 30-year-old married writer from Devon, England, who's 21 weeks pregnant with her second child. After a very tough labor, her first child was born with a hole on one lung, pneumonia of the other lung, a broken clavicle, and Group B strep. Emily is hoping this time goes more smoothly and is taking various precautions to relieve her anxiety. She’s planning for a natural, spontaneous hypnobirthing labor at the hospital.

How long did it take you to get pregnant?

In 2014, My husband and I decided to try to have a baby after we were married, and three weeks later (a week after we returned home from our honeymoon), I took a pregnancy test and we were pregnant. I don’t think either of us expected it to be quite so fast. We had our first daughter, Rosalie, in May 2015. I did wonder if we had been very lucky the first time around and expected that the second time it might be a little more difficult to conceive, so around autumn 2016, we started talking about trying for a second baby and again within the space of a few weeks, we were pregnant.

Were you previously using any method of birth control?

I never wanted to go on the pill because I couldn’t be sure of the long-term effects, etc., and other methods weren’t really suitable, so prior to getting pregnant with our first, I did have a copper coil (IUD), and between pregnancies, we used the natural method.

Any other details relevant to your pregnancy?

When my first daughter was born with complications, I knew that in my second pregnancy, I would be likely to have some anxiety issues and fears about the pregnancy and the labor. I couldn’t imagine how they would play out until now.

Day 1

7:30 a.m. — I wake feeling nervous and hopeful. Today is the day my husband and I have been waiting for excitedly because it’s our 20-week scan this morning and there has been much speculation by ourselves, family and friends as to what the sex of the baby is. Having had a beautiful baby girl, some of my friends — and actually a little part of myself — simply can’t imagine me as a mother to a boy.

My husband is upstairs already in the shower, and Rosalie hasn’t stirred yet, so I go to the kitchen to start on breakfast where I take my two anti-sickness tablets. The sickness has been far worse during this pregnancy than with Rosalie, even though I felt nauseous pretty much through the entirety of my previous pregnancy. I’m also craving very different foods this time; with Rosalie, it was all about pineapple, curry and bread, and this time, I’m so into mozzarella cheese, eggs and organic yogurts.

8 a.m. — My husband Tim brings my daughter downstairs and we make her some porridge and some fried eggs on toast for me (my go-to breakfast this pregnancy; it was scrambled eggs until I got very sick one morning and I can only have them boiled or fried now). After breakfast, my daughter and I take a bath together as my husband tidies up the plates in the kitchen.

9 a.m. — We drop Rosalie at Tim’s parents’ house, which is 10 minutes down the road, as the hospital prefers if children don’t attend the scan appointments.

9:30 a.m. — We arrive at the Centre for Women’s Health at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital for our anomaly scan. As our sonographer takes us on a tour of our baby’s anatomy, we both sit excited and nervous to hear that all is OK, which thankfully it is. Finally she asks if we’re sure we want to find out the sex of the baby, and I tell her my suspicions about having a boy and she points to the screen and exclaims; “I think you might be right!” Tim and I are over the moon and both start to get emotional. My husband starts to well up and laughs it off gruffly.

10:20 a.m. — We’re back in the waiting room when a nurse calls us for the antenatal check. All is fine, so now we wait for the doctor. A little backstory that I’ll inform the doctor of: When I became pregnant, I was mindful of the fact that I would most likely be affected by some of the issues from my previous labor and as someone who has suffered with anxiety in the past. Although I was carried along by the happiness of being pregnant for several weeks, by about week 15, I was feeling very low. I started to find myself irrationally worrying about something terrible, out of my control, happening to my daughter or my husband; I found myself fearful of driving and the world in general, and I was crying uncontrollably at night and found myself feeling very lonely and terrified about being with Rosalie on my own during the day. I soon decided that I couldn’t continue feeling like this and reached out to my midwife and GP, who both referred me to the perinatal mental health service to support me with my anxiety issues during my pregnancy and beyond.

Now we’re talking to the doctor and an obstetrician about a birth plan. I can either elect for a C-section or try for a natural delivery. Even though the first time was very hard, we decide we’d like to go for the latter, and after this pretty heavy discussion, the light and bouncy mood I was in having found out we were due to have a son has now become rather deflated.

12 p.m. — We pick up some sandwiches for lunch and head back to Tim’s parents’ house to collect Rosalie.

2 p.m. — We visit the local preschool to look around the facilities with a view to sending Rosalie there next year. The school has been rated as outstanding by Ofsted, and it really seems like a lovely school for Rosalie in the future.

3:30 p.m. — We’re home and although it is sunny weather outside, I feel pretty overwhelmed and exhausted, so I take a nap while Rosalie plays with Tim.

"No one really warns you how much you are going to fear for your children before you become a parent."

Day 2

7:30 a.m. — Tim drops Rosalie and I off to his parents’ house for the day. Usually, I work from home on a Tuesday while Tim’s parents watch Rosalie, and today, the producers of a property television show are filming at our house, so we’re at my in-laws. We’ve been looking to sell it for more space.

8:30 a.m. — After making breakfast for Rosalie and myself, I start working on my laptop in their dining room.

11 a.m. — I send off some emails, then give Rosalie a quick cuddle before continuing with more work. It’s quite a treat to be able to have a sneak peek into a day in the life of Rosalie whilst I’m working. She’s toddling around and speaking more and more everyday, so it’s a real joy to watch her go about her business.

5 p.m. — I hear Tim come through the door and I wrap up what I’m working on to go and say hello. He tells me that the filming is all wrapped up and apparently went very well. The producer commented that the house looked beautiful and complimented us on our style and how we’ve decorated the place, which is lovely to hear.

7 p.m. — We have dinner with Tim’s parents, then head home with Rosalie.

7:30 p.m. — After I have a bath with Rosalie and get her ready for bed, Tim does the goodnight routine with Rosalie and a load of her cuddly toys; he puts on lots of funny voices, which she loves. I like to eavesdrop at the door and giggle.

Day 3

8 a.m. — I’m feeling so tired today as I make Rosalie and myself breakfast. Today, we’ve made plans to have lunch with a friend and her son, but first I need to get to the supermarket, and I honestly just feel like I need to go back to bed.

9 a.m. — I receive two letters this morning; one from the perinatal mental health team regarding my referral for support, which asks me to call to arrange an initial telephone consultation and a second from Jenny, the obstetrician, who sums up the content of our conversation on Monday regarding the choices about the labor of this baby. I skim it through and those darker feelings of worry sneak back in. I decide to look at it again later.

10:45 a.m. — We’re finally out of the house and on the way to the supermarket. I pick up some organic dairy and a few bits for lunch and head over to my friend’s house for lunch at midday.

11:50 a.m. — When I arrive at my friend’s house, Rosalie is taking her nap. In the meantime, I check my emails and send a message to my best friend Alice, who lives three hours away. Alice recently had her first baby and absolutely loves being a mommy. I really miss living near her.

12:10 p.m. — Rosalie wakes up and I take her into the house. My friend and I have lunch together and then she puts her son down for a nap as I tidy up the kitchen. We have a coffee in the living room and play with Rosalie while my friend’s little one has his sleep. I tell my friend about my conversation with the doctor and the obstetrician at the hospital and ask about her thoughts on it all. She tells me again about her experience of labor, a topic which she and I have discussed many times previously. My NCT friends have been a saving grace, and we all agree that we probably would have gone mad without having the support we’ve had from one another. She definitely helps me to feel a little more positive about the decision that I have to make ahead of the birth of my second baby.

5 p.m. — Rosalie and I head home to find Tim already home. He and Rosalie have a big cuddle and we start to make plans for dinner. I was invited out for a drink with a couple of NCT friends tonight, but as I’ve been feeling so tired recently, I decide to let them go ahead without me and as another friend can’t make it, I don’t feel too much like I’m missing out.

6 p.m. — I take another look at the letter from the obstetrician and realize that if I want to have a natural labor, they’re suggesting that they would induce me only seventeen weeks from now. The thought is exciting but also rather scary, especially since I haven’t even thought about what we need to buy yet and also the question of the house move.

8 p.m. — Once Rosalie’s asleep, Tim and I watch the season finale of The Walking Dead, which I have a love-hate relationship with because although I find it thrilling to watch, I also find it terrifying. I definitely find that I am more vulnerable to scary and horrific television shows and movies during my pregnancy.

No one really warns you how much you are going to fear for your children before you become a parent, and I suppose if they did, you still wouldn’t have any idea how much that fear would paralyze you. Sometimes when I think of the state of the world, I feel powerless.

9 p.m. — We begin to discuss baby names again for the first time since finding out that we’re expecting a boy. We quickly whittle our 23-strong list of names to a shortlist of six using a points system. There is a name that we both love, but which I feel sounds a little nuts and I wonder if our friends will laugh at us. Tim is also very keen on another very sweet biblical name, which I like but I’m hesitant about because of a character in a television show with the same name. We decide to let those names marinate for a while before we discuss them again.

11:30 p.m. — I say a prayer in bed for those in pain and in need and ask God to give me courage and strength to look outwards, to be able to help others, to follow God’s lead and to not let myself be inhibited by my fears and anxieties.

"I don’t stop worrying, I just fall asleep."

Day 4

9 a.m. — My alarm hasn’t gone off, probably because at some point I turned it off and forgot about it, and I wake up shocked at the time. I hear Rosalie upstairs babbling to herself happily and call up to her that I’m on my way. I fetch Rosalie and make us both some breakfast. I send a message to my NCT friends explaining that I somehow entered the Bermuda triangle of sleep and that we’re therefore running late.

10 a.m. — I pick up the phone and call the perinatal mental health service to arrange a telephone conversation, but the next available appointment is at the end of the month. I feel a little disappointed that I can’t speak to anyone sooner, but I know that I can hang on if I just stay strong.

10:30 a.m. — Rosalie and I head off to Dart’s Farm, apparently the U.K.’s best farm shop, which is a little like a countrified version of the Harrods Food Hall; less caviar and Champagne, more artisan barbecue rubs, local pies and specialty cheeses. We meet two of my NCT friends and their sons at the playground just outside of Dart’s Farm. The park area is lovely and pretty vast, though there isn’t a fence or a gate between that and the main road, so I make a point of following Rosalie around wherever she wanders to. The children play together on the slide and the climbing frames.

1 p.m. — After lunch, one of my friends has to leave to attend some work meetings, so my other friend and I pop our sleepy little ones in their prams and take a stroll around the toy department to try to find them some presents for their upcoming second birthdays.

My midwife has sent me a message to tell me she’s received a copy of the letter from Jenny the obstetrician and to check that I am happy with everything stated. I send her a quick message back to thank her and explain that I am keen to discuss the options with her at our next appointment in a few weeks’ time. I also tell her that we are thrilled to be expecting a baby boy.

2 p.m. — We decide to sit outside while the babies continue to nap and my friend tells me he thinks the book The Secret might help me to focus on more positive things, especially right before bed, rather than worrying about things that probably won’t happen. Once the kids are awake, we drive back to my house separately for a cup of tea and a playdate.

4 p.m. — After the kids have played and we’ve had another hot drink and a natter, my friend heads off. My midwife has replied and congratulated us on our news. She also asks if I’ve heard from the perinatal mental health service yet. I explain that I received a letter and I’ve made an appointment but that it’s not for a few weeks. She messages back that if I need to pop into see her any time, I can. I do feel that I can trust my midwife this time, which is definitely a bonus. Though I didn’t have anything against my community midwife when I was pregnant with Rosalie, I didn’t feel that she was as easy to talk to as my current midwife, Kate. The midwife who delivered my baby, Kathy, was a wonderful support to me during and after the labor of Rosalie.

I try to find something to eat in the kitchen, as I’m heading to the theater with my mother-in-law this evening and there won’t be time for any dinner. I make myself a bare caprese salad with cherry tomatoes, organic mozzarella and fresh basil. When I tried it with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, as I would normally have it, it tasted a little too peppery and piquant for my liking; this baby likes everything very mild and soothing.

5 p.m. — My salad doesn’t fill me up very well, but when Tim gets home, he kindly makes me tuna and salad sandwich, which my tummy is grateful for.

5:30 p.m. — My mother-in-law arrives to pick me up for the theater; we’re going to the picture house in Sidmouth to see a National Theatre Live screening of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, as performed in London.

11 p.m. — I get home and I’m feeling hungry. I take a quick bath and enjoy an organic yogurt and a nectarine in front of the television. I brush my teeth and head for bed, though I find myself agonizing over a decision I made to move my car earlier today to help my friend find a spot to park her car. I didn’t want to leave Rosalie alone in the house, so I asked her to stay at the door inside the house and watch me, mostly so I could keep an eye on her. I was so afraid she would run out of the house, but she didn’t and instead when I edged the car forward, I inadvertently went out of her eye line for a split second and she burst into tears, thinking I had abandoned her. I jumped out of the car and ran back to her to comfort her and explained that I would never leave her. I reflect that the guilt I feel from seeing her so upset and thinking I had left her is just so overwhelming. I tell a sleepy Tim who reassures me and urges me to go to sleep. I don’t stop worrying. I just fall asleep.

Day 5

8:30 a.m. — Thank goodness it’s Friday; I feel exhausted, but at least I can focus on work today and not worry about Rosalie too much, though I’m sure I will anyway. Tim has already taken Rosalie to his parents', so I help myself to an egg on toast for breakfast.

9 a.m. — I start with emails today and then begin work on some features for upcoming issues. It’s nice to have something to distract me to be honest. Tim and I were supposed to visit a restaurant tonight for a review but it’s been postponed. I’m actually quite happy that we can have a quiet night tonight instead.

We’ve been so busy this week that we’ve hardly had a chance to have any time to ourselves, and I’m hoping that we won’t be too tired to have sex this evening. I’ve definitely been feeling in the mood for love during this pregnancy, but I must say we’ve had to adapt to be a little more creative with positions now that I have a sizable bump. I think being intimate helps to distract a little from feeling fearful and anxious, plus I love being close to Tim because he’s not only my husband, but he’s also my best friend and the person who I tell everything to. I trust him to no end, and he has always been so supportive of me through everything.

12 p.m. — Tim calls to ask if I’d like to have fish and chips with his parents tonight. I explain that I’d love to see them but I feel pretty nauseous and I don’t think that I could eat that. The weather is fine, so instead we settle on a barbecue.

5 p.m. — I’ve finished working and my mum calls to have a chat. My parents are due to fly out to Sydney next week to stay with my sister, her husband and their 11-month-old son Jack. I’m sad that we aren’t able to join them this time, but we make plans for later this year. I tell my mum about the discussion with the obstetrician on Monday and the decision ahead and she encourages me to follow my heart, as the obstetrician did, unless of course the doctors advise me another way for the baby’s safety.

Right now, I do feel that I would still very much like to have a natural labor, as I feel that it will benefit both my baby and myself, but I still want to keep mulling it over until week 35 when I will have another checkup with the obstetrician to see how big the baby is and to go from there. I’m also looking forward to my appointment with the perinatal mental health service because I’m hoping that will make me feel a bit more positive.

5:30 p.m. — Tim returns home with Rosalie and food for the barbeque. I have a cuddle with Rosalie, but when Tim goes upstairs to change into shorts and a T-shirt, Rosalie gets upset. I scoop her up as she cries “Dada!” tragically and tears roll down her face. I comfort her and tell her that Daddy has just gone upstairs to change his clothes and that he’s not left us. I start to sing a nursery rhyme and tickle Rosalie, and soon enough, she’s laughing again. We set to work on some dinner.

6 p.m. — We decide to make a Jamie Oliver recipe for BBQ chicken, and Tim starts work on the barbeque in the garden as I make the sauce. We have a drink — beer for Tim and apple juice for me — in the garden with some music as the barbeque cooks. Rosalie is running around on the grass in the afternoon sun. I actually feel uplifted for the first time in a while.

8 p.m. — After a bath with Rosalie, we put her to bed and watch the final episode of Desperate Housewives — we’ve been making our way through the whole program together for about a year.

9.30 p.m. — Bedtime, and Tim and I finally have some time together alone. I fall asleep as soon as my head hits the pillow.

Looking at Cute Animals Could Improve Your Relationship

What is it about pictures of puppies that make us melt? Our hearts start beating faster and we get the urge to plant a hundred kisses on that adorable face. Now, pair that cute Labrador photo with an image of your spouse, and you could have instant relationship bliss according to a study recently published in Psychological Science.

The researchers, led by James K. McNulty of Florida State University, explored how certain "interventions" can improve your thoughts about your spouse (as opposed to interventions that target your partner's behaviors). This phenomenon, known as conditioning, links a positive stimulus to an unrelated stimulus to create a positive association over time.

More: 7 Reasons Alpha Women Have Better Relationships

Over eight weeks, researchers asked 144 married couples to view a stream of various images that included photos of their partner. One group looked at images of their partner with a positive stimuli like a puppy, while the control group saw their spouse alongside a neutral stimuli — in this case, a button. The results: Participants who looked at positive images paired with their partner's face showed more positive automatic reactions to their partner than those who saw neutral pairings.

In other words, viewing uplifting content — including images of sweet puppies and adorable bunnies — along with pictures of your spouse was enough to rekindle a spark and make people want to spend more time making out (with your spouse, not the puppy).

More: 8 Things No One Tells You About Sex After Childbirth

McNulty told ScienceDaily that he was actually a little surprised that this intervention worked. "All the theory I reviewed on evaluative conditioning suggested it should, but existing theories of relationships, and just the idea that something so simple and unrelated to marriage could affect how people feel about their marriage, made me skeptical.”

Hey, we'll take it. We're not saying it's going to fix a deeply broken relationship, but if you fall victim to life's daily stressors and energy-drainers and have a tendency to snap or be irritated with your S.O. for no really good reason, this might be worth a try. You can reprogram yourself to think happy, mushy, affectionate thoughts about your spouse, just like you would with a baby animal. It could be just what the doctor — er, couples therapist — ordered.

Tony Danza Is Coming Back to TV, as Tony of Course

It's been a hot, hot minute since TV icon and idol Tony Danza was on television. The last time you probably saw him onscreen, he was playing Joseph Gordon-Levitt's dad in 2013's Don Jon, or maybe you saw him in a guest role on Broad City in 2016. Happily, if you're a fan of the former Who's The Boss star, you'll be able to catch him again on TV with his latest leading TV role.

According to Huffington Post, Danza will star in the Netflix original show The Good Cop. The show will focus on Danza, who will play "a former NYPD officer who pairs up with his detective son. The duo are an odd-couple pairing, as Danza’s character has never followed the rules and tries hard to loosen up his overly cautious son." I mean, this role sounds tailor-made for Danza, right? Even better, Danza's character is reportedly named Tony, because of course it is.

The Good Cop appears to be leaning more toward comedy than drama as a big comedy showrunner is throwing their weight into this project: Monk's Andy Breckman. Couple this with the fact that The Office's Howard Klein and another Monk producer, Randy Zisk, will be coming aboard as executive producers, and it sounds like you have a strong comedy-focused team working to make this show a total success.

I don't know about you, but I am so hyped to know that Danza is coming back to TV and he's capitalizing on the thriving niche of Netflix original programming to stage a full-fledged comeback. Danza and good TV go together like peanut butter and jelly, which means The Good Cop will probably be one heck of a delightful program.

June 26 marks two years since the historic Supreme Court ruling that affirmed the right of all Americans, regardless of sexual orientation, to marry and have their unions recognized. To celebrate the anniversary of that incredible moment, we spoke to couples across the country about how the Obergefell v. Hodges ruling impacted their own marriages.

Get ready to tear up over these amazing, inspiring love stories.

“The SCOTUS ruling was more than just a new law being passed, but a confirmation of acceptance. While my husband and I weren’t actively waiting for it to happen, it was a heartwarming decision when it did, being recognized by our U.S. government that we aren’t second-class citizens and can enjoy equal opportunity. The ruling was about more than just being able to refer to Alex as my husband, but enable us to enjoy all the rights and benefits of our married, straight counterparts. After that, getting married was breeze for us. The mayor of the town we got married in — Greenport on the North Fork of Long Island — 'officially' married us the day before the actual wedding. We're about to celebrate our one-year anniversary and can’t wait to attend future gay weddings of loved ones…” — Haven, New York, New York, married one year

"My wife and I have been together since 2004. We married in Georgia in 2009 when we didn't have marriage equality, but we had a glorious wedding just the same. We really wanted to honor our love for each other in a wedding in our home state before we had children. When New York passed marriage equality in 2011, we flew up there in August to legally wed at Manhattan's marriage bureau when our twin sons were just 5 months old.

"Even though we'd already had a big wedding with all our family and friends, getting legally married was incredibly different. We felt validated. Our relationship was in the books! With our love officially recognized by the government, we were affirmed in the eyes of the law, which gave us even more ammunition when fighting homophobia in our own red state. We're legally married now, and even if homophobic people want to oppose us, we have the law on our side. And that's a wonderful feeling." — Kirsten Palladino, Atlanta, Georgia, married six years, author of Equally Wed: The Ultimate Guide for Planning Your LGBTQ+ Wedding

“The Supreme Court ruling was such a happy day for us. I remember sitting together on the couch with the news on, our Facebook pages blowing up with congratulations. It was like the whole world was celebrating with us. Holly and I have been together a long time. Our success as a couple has been hard-won. Society doesn't make it easy to be a same-sex couple. And I don't think everyone recognizes how important marriage actually is and the legal ramifications that come along with it.

"Although we had a big Jewish wedding in 2008, we got married legally in Washington, D.C., in 2010 when Maryland began recognizing out-of-state same-sex marriages. Then we got married again in New York, Vermont and Maryland. Our plan was to get married in every state that we could so we could have all the rights and protections that come with marriage if and when we traveled in and through those states. When same-same marriage was recognized federally, it was like a dream come true for us. We could finally stop worrying and just live our lives. It really was a magical day.” — Jessica, Baltimore, Maryland, married nine years in November

“We became engaged on election night 2012. We planned our wedding never dwelling on the legality of it, yet it hung in the air like a sad deflating party balloon. In 2013, legal marriages were allowed to resume in California, so we soldiered on with great zeal having this local victory, yet never giving up on the hope that it would soon be legal for the entire country.

"We married in 2014. Where our marriage was legal in California, we were still unsure of what our federal rights were. We lived as a married couple but there was still a sense of fiction to it. When the Supreme Court handed down their ruling in 2015, the reality that we were as married as the straight couple next door suddenly turned our Pinocchio into a real boy. As odd as it sounds, the truth wasn’t quite as vivid until we filed our first tax return as a married couple.

"Don’t get us wrong — we would have been married in ceremony regardless of the law. We would have lived happily amongst our friends and family, paid bills, fought, planned vacations and parented our rescue dog Wilbur regardless of the law. But enjoying the equal rights and protections that everyone is entitled to makes this diamond a little shinier.” — Kaore, Los Angeles, California, married three years

“When the 2016 SCOTUS ruling became law, I was filled with hope and overwhelmed by happiness. Though my state, Massachusetts, has had marriage equality for about 13 years now — and was the first state to legalize same-sex marriage! — my heart felt full for all the other happy LGBTQ couples who no longer had to worry about their own states not recognizing their marriages or hospitals disallowing them to see their partners in times of need. When the SCOTUS decision passed, I knew that this country was officially headed in the right direction, although we still have important work to do, especially for the transgender community.” — Jackie, Boston, Massachusetts, married almost two years

Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Will Feature a Blast from the Past

We may have to wait until the fall for Season 14 of Grey's Anatomy to grace our screens but, happily, good news about the upcoming season is forthcoming — Kim Raver will be returning to Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to reprise the role of cardiothoracic god, Dr. Teddy Altman.

More: Grey's Anatomy's Finale Had a Sad Goodbye, But These Deaths Were Way Worse

We last saw Teddy in the Season 8 finale, when she was fired by her military buddy-slash-former-flame Owen Hunt. Of course, there was no bad blood over the job termination, since Teddy knew Owen was doing it so she'd actually accept the dream job she'd been offered with the Army.

In full disclosure, before you get your hopes up too much, Raver won't be returning to Grey's full-time. As of now, Deadline reports that the veteran actress will enjoy a guest arc. In fact, her upcoming stint was hinted at in the Season 13 finale, when Amelia Shepherd name-dropped Teddy.

It's a particularly exciting time to see Raver return, as so much has changed on the longtime ABC medi-drama over the past few seasons.

We watched in angst as Sandra Oh, who played Teddy's protege Christina Yang, left in Season 10. We mourned (let's be real, we're still mourning) the loss of Patrick Dempsey, aka Dr. Derek "McDreamy" Shepherd, in Season 11.

There are new babies, new relationships, ruined marriages and more. It will be interesting to see how a familiar face like Teddy plays into the shifting dynamic.

Owen is now married to Amelia, but their relationship is rocky at best. Not to mention, Teddy understands Owen in a way Amelia never could, given their military history. With his missing sister Megan, who was a POW, now back in the picture and Owen struggling to forgive himself for leaving her behind, Teddy will undoubtedly be a major source of comfort to him.

Could Teddy and Owen's closeness lead to conflict between Amelia and Owen? We'll find out when Season 14 premieres this fall.

Don't be surprised if Raver's face pops up on your TV screen outside of Thursday nights on ABC, though — she will reportedly also have a recurring role on the upcoming fifth season of Showtime's Ray Donovan, which premieres on Sunday, Aug. 6.

Let There Be Tears, Because Daniel Day-Lewis Just Quit Acting

Today, in information we were not at all prepared to process, three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis is retiring from acting. First reported by Variety, the surprising news has since been confirmed by Day-Lewis' spokesperson, Leslee Dart.

In a statement, Dart revealed, "Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject."

More: Day-Lewis in awe of Bill Clinton at the Globes

One of the most respected actors of his generation, Day-Lewis has enjoyed a decades-long career in high demand. However, the method actor — who is known for his constant immersion into roles — has proven highly selective, with only 29 acting credits to his name.

This is particularly impressive when you consider he holds the record for most best actor Oscars, with three: for 2012's Lincoln, 2007's There Will Be Blood and 1989's My Left Foot.

Day-Lewis, who made his (uncredited) screen debut at the tender age of 14 in the 1971 film Sunday Bloody Sunday, also left his mark on such critically acclaimed movies as 1992's The Last of the Mohicans, 1997's The Boxer and 2002's The Gangs of New York.

More: Daniel Day-Lewis Breaks Record with Third Acting Oscar

It is rumored, in fact, that Day-Lewis left acting prior to Gangs and was working as a cobbler. It was only after Gangs' director Martin Scorsese convinced Day-Lewis to star in the film that the actor decided to return to the industry.

Despite Day-Lewis' newly retired status, you can still catch the incredible talent onscreen one more time. The drama Phantom Thread, which is in post-production, is set to hit theaters on Christmas Day this year. The film was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, who Day-Lewis worked with on his Oscar-winning turn in There Will Be Blood.

While we're sad to learn that Day-Lewis will no longer be bringing his phenomenal presence to any more films, we're happy the actor — who once called his life a "lifelong study in evasion" — will finally be able to enjoy the privacy he so clearly craves.

The dual-citizenship star splits his time between New York City and Ireland with his wife, writer-director Rebecca Miller and their two sons Ronan Cal and Cashel Blake. Day-Lewis also has an older son, Gabriel Kane, from a previous relationship.

Thinking of Adopting a Cat? There's No Better Time Than Kitten Season

$

June is Adopt-a-Shelter-Cat Month, but did you know this celebratory month is timed (in part) for a very specific reason? Kitten season! Over the last 16-plus years working with animal rescue groups and shelters big and small, this is probably simultaneously one of the biggest and cutest issues I’ve encountered. Seriously, imagine Star Trek’s "The Trouble with Tribbles," and you’re pretty much there.

What is kitten season?

While this occurs to varying degrees across the U.S., kitten season is the time of year when neighborhood cats all begin to give birth. In the cooler regions, this usually begins in spring and goes through the summer. In some warmer states, it can seem like it lasts all year. The point? Shelters and rescue groups get flooded with kittens — lots of them — putting even more strain on the resources available. According to the ASPCA, 3.2 million cats are surrendered to animal shelters each year, and yet only 1.6 million cats are adopted, leaving a whopping million-plus without a home.

We are now at the height of kitten season in many areas — meaning there are lots of adoptable cats in need of a home. Whether your heart sings for a tiny tornado of kittenhood or, like me, has a special love for seniors, right now is a great time to adopt a cat. (Find out what Dr. Christie Long suggests everyone know before adopting a shelter cat.)

Are you ready to adopt a cat or kitten?

Of course, bringing home a new cat is a big decision and needs to be thought through. Adoption can be a 20-plus-year commitment, and every shelter and rescue group wants to help you make sure you’re ready. So today we’ll explore some of the things to know before adopting a kitten so you can make the best decision for you and your household.

Be ready for the cost of kitten care

Cats are a constant investment — one that pays dividends in love and affection, but an investment nonetheless. From litter to food to toys to vet visits, you’ll want to make sure you have a monthly budget for your cat’s needs. The last thing you need is a medical emergency and no medical fund to cover costs.

  • In their youth, you may have more costs, such as vaccinations, checkups, additional toys to keep kittens entertained and burn off all that baby energy, kitten diets, socialization classes, perhaps a leash and harness (if you’re so inclined) and spaying/neutering. (Please read this before you consider declawing your cat.)
  • Throughout their middle life, hopefully you mostly have wellness checks and vaccinations, dental cleanings, some rotating toys to keep kitty’s brain active and basic grooming to invest in.
  • In later life, your cat will need additional health screenings (usually increasing from once a year to twice a year as long as everything checks out fine). She may also need some additional support.

Research shows the average cost of a cat the first year is slightly over $1,000 with an approximate $700 investment each subsequent year of the cat’s life. All costs depend upon the area you live in, whether or not you carry medical insurance for your cat or have medical emergencies, and the veterinarian you choose. Doing some research on local prices of everything from a good-quality cat food to routine and emergency care can help you have a reasonable idea of how much a cat will truly cost you each year.

Consider the mental needs of your new kitten

When you’re thinking about adopting a new cat, consider what kind would do best in your home. Every cat or kitten will need companionship, love, food, water, medical care, training and mental stimulation. However, the last three on the list will vary quite a bit from one cat to another.

  • Kittens are a lot of work: It will be up to you to teach them their manners while keeping them entertained. No matter what their final temperament, kittens have a lot of energy to burn off and won’t be familiar with the do's and don’ts of the typical household. You’ll have to teach them or they’ll find other less-desirable ways to dispel that energy. Many rescue groups require adopting two kittens to help teach each other all of this if you don’t already have a resident cat.
  • Adult and senior cats need challenges and mental engagement too: Adult and senior cats are more seasoned and may already know their manners, but will always benefit from brainteasers and challenges as well. (Check out these tips for keeping kitty entertained and out of trouble.)

Are you ready for the time commitment?

Even though they don’t require the daily walks and constant attention of a dog, a cat still has needs, and thinking of them as low-maintenance doesn’t work to either of your benefits. Think about it — while you go out into the world and have lots of things to keep you engaged, your cat likely only as you. This means their needs like grooming, training, feeding and play need to come from you — or they will happily start their exercise program at 3 a.m. or suddenly pick a new “better” spot to pee and poop. If you want to train your cat not to be on countertops or limit scratching to certain areas of the house (like a scratching post or pad), you’ll need to carve out the time and attention for kitty training and mental stimulation.

Is your whole family on board?

Are there already pets at home? Is your living space large enough to accommodate another pet? Is Fido ready to share his living quarters? Asking yourself how your resident cats and dogs will handle the addition is an important pre-adoption step. Too often, a kitten or other new critter is brought into the home with the best of intentions — only to terrorize the existing four-legged residents.

If you already have an older cat, a new kitten can stir up the dynamics quite a bit. Check out a few tips on getting the two acquainted. If you’re already finding problems with the two, here are some tricks you might want to try.

What about those first few days?

With your new family member ready to come home, you’ll want to slowly get her used to the new surroundings. If you’ve never parented a cat before, you need to know what you’re getting yourself into. Like their big-cat relatives, domestic house cats are territorial. They like to be in control of their space. A new environment can leave them a bit anxious, and it may take weeks for them to get used to it.

Let Kitty explore rooms one at a time (by blocking off her access to other areas). When she first gets in, let Kitty naturally come out of her carrier and join you in a single room for a few days. Preferably where you plan to keep the litter box for the long haul. Don’t force this and don’t give her too big a space initially. If she scurries off and hides, that’s OK. She’ll just need some time before she’s trusting and comfortable in the environment. Pro tip: If Kitty hides, try sitting in the room and reading a book aloud. This will help her get used to the sound of your voice and feel more comfortable.

Settling in: The first few weeks

Definitely get your new cat or kitten in to see your vet within the first couple of weeks and bring any immunization/medical records you received when adopting her. (To find out what exactly happens at a wellness check, click here.)

Your new cat will probably be ready to explore the entire house. Monitor her and provide plenty of toys for her and you to bond over.

A new pet is always exciting for the whole family. If you have the space, the resources and the love to give, consider adopting one of the 3.2 million sheltered cats.

Signs of Dehydration You Might Miss

$

Staying hydrated is an absolute necessity for a healthy, functioning body. According to the Institute of Medicine, being hydrated means drinking 2.7 liters (or about 92 ounces) of water per day. But if y’all haven’t noticed, summer has most certainly arrived; as the temp goes up, so should your water intake. Why is that the case?

Dehydration occurs when you’re losing more water than you’re taking in, which is way more likely to occur on a hot day. You know how it goes. Your day is jam-packed with summertime activities. You’re running from one place to the next in the sweltering heat. You packed everything in your possession into your oversize beach bag... everything but a damn water bottle. You’re moving; you’re sweating. Uh-oh. You very well may find yourself dehydrated without even realizing.

“There are three general causes of excess fluid loss,” Laguna Hills gastroenterologist Kevin Ashby told SheKnows. “Those include fluid losses from the skin, like sweat or losses from severe burns, losses from the kidneys due to use of water pills or rare kidney disorders and gastrointestinal losses from diarrhea, vomiting and rare severe bleeding.”

If any of these conditions apply to you this summer, you need to be on high patrol for the secret signs of dehydration.

More: 6 Cups of Water a Day Could Make Sex Way, Way Better

How do you know if you’re dehydrated?

There are some signs of dehydration that you’ll feel right away. Besides being really freakin’ thirsty, oftentimes a low water intake will cause a sense of fatigue and dizziness with standing. You may also begin to get muscle cramps that make it difficult to move normally.

Other signs of dehydration are a bit sneakier. Feeling a little lost for words? According to Dr. Joel Bartlett, an internal medicine physician at the Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley, California, some of the lesser-known symptoms include confusion, weakness and speech difficulties.

Some of the more severe warnings include seizures or even becoming comatose. However, these are rare and occur after very long periods without liquid intake.

“These symptoms as a rule don't occur in isolation,” said Ashby. “Other more common symptoms of dehydration are very likely to be present.”

Rather than blaming any of these symptoms on the heat, stress or lack of sleep, get yourself some water while you can.

More: 3 Healthy Recipes That Hydrate Your Body

What do you do if you’re dehydrated?

The obvious answer here would be to drink water. But you can actually expedite this process by fueling up with electrolyte-fused beverages such as Gatorade, Pedialyte or Powerade.

If you’re nauseated or vomiting, Bartlett recommends "frequent sips," which means drinking a small amount every 30 to 60 minutes.

But if the symptoms don’t seem to be going away, it may be time to seek medical help.

“Your doctor can see signs of dehydration upon physical examination,” Ashby added. “These signs include dry mucous membranes (like the inside of your mouth), low blood pressure and decreased skin turgor, where the skin doesn't bounce back and rapidly flatten out when the skin is pinched.”

More: The Water Bottle That Tracks Your H20 Intake So You Don’t Have To

Besides ruining your sunny day, being dehydrated can have some serious long-term impacts on your body, including liver dysfunction and kidney injuries. So if you’re feeling unsure about your hydration, it might be best to get yourself to a doctor ASAP.

And how do you know if you are hydrated?

A good measurement would be the color of your urine. If you’re super-hydrated, it should be almost clear. If you find that it’s a bit darker in color, it may be time to chug.

You can also make personal efforts to keep track of how much you are drinking. For starters, you should be carrying your own reusable water bottle with you whenever you leave the house. Try counting the number of times you refill it. If you still struggle with keeping up with your water intake, try using an app like MyWater. With the click of a button, you can tally the total number of ounces of water, coffee, and tea that you down throughout the day and set notifications to remind you to keep on sippin’ on. As a bonus, the app allows you to track the water intake of your friends, family and children too — making sure everyone is kept safe this summer.

Prince Philip Was Hospitalized Due to an Infection

It's been an incredibly eventful week for all residents of London, including the royal family. After making the headlines these last few weeks for visiting various sites of tragedy around the city, the royal family faced another personal and nerve-wracking incident. On Tuesday evening, Prince Philip was taken to the hospital, according to the Buckingham Palace statement. Happily, by Wednesday afternoon (local time), the royal was released from the hospital and given a clean bill of health.

It appears his hospital stay was brief. According to E! News, Prince Philip was admitted to a London hospital "Tuesday night 'as a precautionary measure' to treat an infection 'arising from a pre-existing condition.'" While it appears that those in the know are keeping mum about precisely what that pre-existing condition is, it's nonetheless a relief to know that the 96-year-old monarch has been cleared to go home. Buckingham Palace also included in their statement that "Prince Philip is in good spirits and is disappointed to be missing the State Opening of Parliament and Royal Ascot. Her Majesty is being kept informed and will attend Royal Ascot as planned this afternoon."
