Casey Anthony shows her face in public, asks for sympathy

$

Casey Anthony likely doesn't have much public sympathy, but that doesn't stop her from living off others. Anthony commented on her dire financial status today in court.

Casey Anthony acquitted of murder.

Do you feel sorry for Casey Anthony?

Anthony hopes her bankruptcy judge will show her some compassion as she made her first public appearance since her acquittal of her daughter's murder in the summer of 2011. Anthony left jail in July 2011.

Casey Anthony breaks her silence>>

Anthony appeared before a Florida judge this morning to explain the details surrounding her financial distress and why she is unable to pay back the almost $800,000 she owes to various creditors. The Associated Press said Anthony told the judge she's unemployed, has about $1,000 to her name and lives off the generosity of others for all of her basic necessities including food, rent and utilities.

Does Casey Anthony have a sugar daddy?>>

Said Anthony, "I don't pay rent. I don't pay utilities. I guess you could say I'm living free of the kindness of others." Casey, who is 26 years old, said she survives off friends and money given to her by strangers through gift cards and cash. The AP says she earned about $200,000 for personal photographs which in turn paid for her criminal defense. Anthony states she still owes about $400,000 in legal fees and court fees.

As for why she's been unable to work? USA Today reports Anthony's lawyer told local news station WTSP that Anthony has received death threats as well as notice that a $50,000 bounty on her life is currently being offered. In order to remain safe, Anthony must remain as far out of the public eye as possible.

Casey Anthony filed for bankruptcy in Jan. 2013 and stated she has not received any offers for book, movie or television deals.

Not all guilty secrets are based on wrongdoing. Sometimes they stem from actions not taken or from a desire to avoid hurting anyone’s feelings. Keep in mind that good intentions can pave the way to hellish situations and that what a loved one needs from you is understanding; not a lecture. Would you really have done things all that differently if you were in this person’s shoes? Food for thought on Wednesday when the Moon occults Pluto.

aries

ARIES

You may not be out of the woods debt-wise, but at least you can see the forest for the trees. Continue working with that financial plan in play and you should be in the clear by Sept. 20. Meanwhile, you may be seized by a wave of regret for a recent decision on Wednesday. Don’t make something that wasn’t easy harder. What’s done is done — move on.

taurus

TAURUS

Curb that impulse to a make a scene and to have it out on Wednesday. Restraint is the order of the day — especially when dealing with ex-spouses, button-pushing adolescents, and scheming supervisors. Your patience will pay off on Friday when an opponent inadvertently plays into your hands by giving you the information you need to turn the tables in your favor.

gemini

GEMINI

An embattled situation grows quiet and this won’t sit easily with you. Has your nemesis really moved on to easier prey? Or is this a ruse aimed at getting you to come out of hiding? Believe it or not, it looks as if your strategy of evasion has worked and you have exhausted this person’s resources. This could result in a litigious suit being dropped or talk of a settlement on March 8.

cancer

CANCER

You have no idea where things are going and that’s OK, because everything will fall into line on March 11 when Mars, the action planet, begins its translation of light at the top of your horoscope. This will green-light all of your hopes and dreams and ambitions. Meanwhile, refrain from doing something provocative just for the sake of being provocative. You want to harness the energies at play and not be overrun by them.

leo

LEO

You are in the final stages of wrapping up a contentious financial matter and/or family dispute, so don’t let yourself get sidetracked. If anything, you can expect a fresh round of complaints, problems, and demands on Monday and Wednesday. These are the desperate actions of people who know that they have already lost, so just keep doing what you are doing and things will be settled in your favor on March 19.

virgo

VIRGO

You thought the door was closed, but you may find your heart softening instead. It’s surprising considering how far along you are with your exit strategy. Sometimes we don’t know how much we value someone until we stand at the point of no return. Friday would be a good day to remember the message of Pisces, which is that forgiveness isn’t a sign of weakness, intolerance is. This is one time when a second thought leads to a second chance that’s worth taking.

libra

LIBRA

Perhaps you should stop saying no to an opportunity that keeps presenting itself. It’s because there was no guarantee that things would work out that you kept turning it down. You didn’t want to get your hopes up only to be disappointed. However you will also never know what could be if you don’t try. Go ahead and take the plunge on the 9th.

scorpio

SCORPIO

Your love of old things leads to a remarkable discovery this week. Maybe it’s an antique hidden in a corner of the attic, a piece of information tucked between the footnotes, or taking an old talent of yours off the shelf and brushing it up a bit. It only goes to show that what’s old is renewed again when Saturn in Scorpio sextiles Pluto in Capricorn.

sagittarius

SAGITTARIUS

You will face two moral dilemmas this week. On Monday you will have to decide if the truth will set a friend free or just make her miserable. And on Saturday you will have to decide if taking the fall for someone else is worth the tumble. Let your conscience be your guide and you can’t go wrong.

capricorn

CAPRICORN

You were born under Saturn, the planet of time. Things take twice as long to come together and twice as long to fall apart. This gives you plenty of time to consider the consequences of your actions in both the before and the after. It also bestows the gift of hindsight, as you’ll see on Friday when a rare Saturn/Pluto sextile reveals the hidden merits of something you assumed was an exercise in futility.

aquarius

AQUARIUS

It’s true that when a door closes then a window will open — as long as you don’t slam that door shut. You may not like how things are concluding between you and another party, but where does it say that you have to part on bad terms? Re-invoke the same good spirit that was there when you got together. It’s not as hard as you think.

pisces

PISCES

You’re going to feel like you can have your cake and eat it too with so many planets in your sign this week. This sounds like a good thing until you realize that it could be the recipe to disaster — or at least a bad bout of indigestion. Take the time to really identify what matters most to you on the 6th and 7th and you can enjoy dessert with no regrets.

Halle Berry has confirmed that she will play Storm in the upcoming X-Men Days of Future Past.

Rumors that Halle Berry will reprise her role as Storm in the latest X-Men film have been confirmed.

In a new interview with BlackTreeTV, the Oscar-winning actress said that she's "excited" to join the cast of the highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past.

"The fans really love Storm, and so I’m really happy that it’s worked out that way," Berry said. "No matter what my part will be or won’t be, to be a part of that is always a good thing. I love it."

Storm, a powerful, take-charge mutant, is arguably one of her most beloved characters to date. Berry previously took on the role in X-Men, , X2 , and X-Men: The Last Stand .

It's still unclear how large a role Storm will play in Days of Future Past.

The comic book film will serve as a follow-up to the 2011 prequel, X-Men: First Class. The latest installment of the blockbuster franchise is said to take place at various points in time — allowing actors from First Class and those from the earlier X-Men flicks to appear in the film.

Days of Future Pastboasts an impressive cast list that includes Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Peter Dinklage.

It was announced last week that French actor Omar Sy, who starred in the French dramedy The Intouchables, is also set to appear in the film.

Directed by Bryan Singer, the action flick will include appearances from notable X-Men alum like Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin and Ellen Page.

Berry is currently promoting The Call, a thriller about a 911 operator's attempt to save a kidnapped teenager .

Last year she starred in the drama Cloud Atlas with Tom Hanks, Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant.

Days of Future Past is slated to begin filming this April and is scheduled to be released on July 18, 2014.

WillFerrellMTVMovieAwards

MTV is changing things up for the MTV Movie Awards on April 14. They're adding a new category and Will Ferrell is going to be the first honoree.

The Anchorman 2 star will be receiving the first-ever Comedic Genius Award.

Stephen Friedman, president of MTV, said in a statement on Monday, "Will Ferrell epitomizes what it means to be a comedic genius and it's only fitting that he should be the inaugural recipient of this award."

Friedman continued, "Over the course of his extraordinary, 17-plus-year career, he has entertained audiences across the globe with an impressive array of laugh-out-loud performances on air, online and in films. Simply put, Will Ferrell is 'kind of a big deal.'"

This won't be Ferrell's first trip to the MTV Movie Awards, though. He has eight nominations from films like Old School, Elf and Blades of Glory, but he has only one win to his name. He earned the Best Kiss award in 2007 for Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby with co-star Sacha Baron Cohen.

Whammy! Kristen Wiig confirmed for Anchorman 2>>

The rest of the nominees for this year's show will be announced on March 5 during the cable network's 2013 MTV Movie Awards Nominations Spectacular. The show will be hosted by MTV's Josh Horowitz and this year's Movie Awards host, Rebel Wilson.

Television audiences can watch the Movie of the Year announcement at 7:58 p.m. EST and then head over to MTV's website to watch a 30-minute live stream for the rest of the nominees. Fans will be able to vote for their favorite stars and films beginning March 5.

Now, we'll just have to wait until April 14 to see if Ferrell shows up as himself or Ron Burgundy.

Emma Stone tweet: Andrew kissed Shailene?

Did Emma Stone use Twitter to accuse her boyfriend Andrew Garfield of hooking up with his co-star Shailene Woodley? Her cryptic — and since deleted — tweet seems to suggest trouble brewing.

Shailene Woodley on the red carpet.

Emma Stone's Twitter account is currently blank, but yesterday Stone sent out her first-ever tweet and it seemed to hint boyfriend Andrew Garfield was cheating on her with his co-star Shailene Woodley.

The odd tweet has since been deleted but Perez Hilton nabbed a screenshot. Stone's tweet read: "nawder nas islasehne tsintgi ni a erte." Hilton decoded Emma Stone's tweet to read: "Andrew and Shailene sitting in a tree."

Looking back: the romance between Stone and Garfield>>

Stone and Garfield began dating her co-star in The Amazing Spider-Man the summer of 2011 after filming began in 2010. In 2012, Life & Style reported the couple had moved in together in New York City.

Shailene Woodley was recently cast as a new love interest for Garfield's Peter Parker character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Woodley is set to play Mary Jane Watson. The Hollywood Reporter claims Shailene's role will be small in the second film but the love between Parker and Watson will blossom in the third installment of the franchise.

Shailene Woodley's pivotal role with co-star Andrew Garfield>>

Despite Emma Stone's weird tweet about boyfriend Andrew Garfield and Shailene Woodley, Stone stepped out with Andrew in New York City last night. The pair were spotted being very affectionate towards one another as they ran errands in the city.

Emma Stone has not yet released any further details on her odd tweet about boyfriend Andrew Garfield and Shailene Woodley.

Heidi Klum joins America's Got Talent

NBC announced on Monday that they were moving forward with four judges for Season 8 of America's Got Talent. The cast includes Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B, plus the surprising choice of Project Runway veteran, Heidi Klum.

HeidiKlumAGT

Someone on the America's Got Talent set was not being very discreet after they slipped TMZ a photo of the judges table from the New Orleans audition set. The official roster for Season 8 will include veterans Howie Mandel and Howard Stern and newcomers Mel B and Heidi Klum.

The ladies replace outgoing judge Sharon Osbourne who had a pretty public spat with NBC after they reportedly fired her son, Jack, from Stars Earn Stripes due to his multiple sclerosis diagnosis.

In fact, when Osbourne was asked by TMZ if she would forgive the network for their actions, she said, "Over my dead body!"

NBC confirmed the news about Klum joining the AGT team on Monday while the Mel B announcement happened in late February.

Paul Telegdy, NBC reality chief, said in an official statement, "Heidi has an amazing career across multiple media platforms, and has built a brand that is a force in the entertainment business."

Telegdy added, "She has achieved superstardom while balancing being a businesswoman and hard-working mom, bringing a huge amount of experience, discernment and taste to the panel. As we look to develop an act that will get the world's attention, we and the contestants will benefit from Heidi's international sensibility and understanding of what works in today's global entertainment industry."

Klum also seems to be excited by her new position with the peacock network. She said in the same statement, "America's Got some serious Talent! I'm really excited to join the panel of AGT to see it all -- from the ridiculous to the fantastic! I love the surprise element of the show and not knowing what we'll see next and who will wow us. I'm also looking forward to spending time with my fellow judges - Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Mel B!"

Heidi Klum wants crazy sex with an old guy>>

AGT has never utilized four judges on the show before so the new element should add a different dynamic to the show.

Supermodel Klum is no stranger to the reality show competition format since she has hosted 11 seasons of Project Runway. The big question mark is whether she has the eye and the advice to offer the performing contestants given she's more widely known for her work in the fashion and beauty industry.

Taping for the latest season of AGT began on Monday.

Fox re-ups The Following plus 3 comedies

The Following has cast a spell on us and Fox has taken note. The network has renewed the series for a second season. They also gave three deserving comedies a shot in the arm.

The Following

Kevin Bacon is sticking with TV a little longer. The veteran actor's freshman series The Following received the stamp of approval from Fox. Not only will it finish out its first season, but it's been renewed for a second!

According to Fox chief Kevin Reilly , their decision was a no-brainer. "From the very beginning, we felt Kevin Williamson and Marcos Siega had created a high-quality, edge-of-your-seat drama that could break from the pack, and it is exciting to see the audience responding," Reilly said.

How The Followinglured Kevin Bacon to TV>>

"Kevin Bacon and James Purefoy have given us two of the most compelling characters on television and the entire cast is incredible. I'm delighted to have this thrill ride continue on FOX for another season."

It's great news considering midseason shows have been dropping like flies. ABC recently canceled ZeroHour after only three airings. The Thursday night drama failed to bring in the ratings to keep it afloat.

Back at Fox, they kept the positivity flowing by picking up Raising Hope, New Girl and The Mindy Project for another season.

New Girl’s Hannah Simone talks cats, fondue and why Schmidt doesn't deserve Cece>>

"We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television," Reilly continued. "These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the FOX comedy brand next season and beyond."

Are you excited for these four returns?

The former Girls Next Door star checked into a Las Vegas area hospital on Monday to have her baby girl.

HollyMadisonbabygirlHolly Madison is on her way to becoming a first-time mother. In fact, she told the Las Vegas Sun that she was planning on checking into a Las Vegas area hospital on Monday in preparation for her new arrival.

The former Girls Next Door star told Robin Leach, "It’s time now. We have decided to induce the delivery if necessary. I will go in Monday afternoon or early evening. It still might take up to three more days, though."

Her official due date is on Tuesday, but the mother-to-be is clearly eager to meet her little girl. However, don't expect her to give every detail of the birth on various social media outlets.

Madison said, "You’ll know when the baby is born, but I’m not going to be tweeting during the delivery."

Madison and her fiancé Pasquale Rotella, CEO of an electronic concerts promotion company in Las Vegas, have planned an Alice in Wonderland nursery for their new bundle of joy. The Peepshow star was pretty hands-on in terms of the decor, doing most of the painting herself.

What will the baby's girl's name be?

Well, the former Playboy Playmate is keeping that under wraps for now.

"We have her name picked out, but that has to remain a secret for now," she told the Las Vegas Sun. "It’s such an unusual and difficult name I have a feeling we’ll add something simpler once she’s arrived safely in our world."

Holly Madison's "ridiculous, human-sized" dog problem>>

Her baby girl will also make her debut in a magazine exclusive, but she did not mention the publication.

Madison has already raised a few eyebrows with her announcement that she was planning on eating her placenta to ward off possible postpartum depression. Many mothers swear by the remedy.

After giving birth, her next project will be her upcoming nuptials to Rotella. They are planning a summer wedding.

For now though, she's focused on the next few days and her baby girl.

Holly Madison hospitalized>>

Madison shared, "I’m feeling very relaxed, very, very happy, contented, yet a little restless with anticipation, but all is good. I’m ready now for the delivery. I can’t wait to be a mommy, although I’m not giving up my career."

She continued, "Everything is wonderful. These are the happiest days of my life."

There's nothing better than a joyous mother-to-be!

Harrison Ford to star in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues

Star Wars legend Harrison Ford is set to join Will Ferrell and Steve Carell for Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

"Great Odin's raven!"

As if we weren't already eagerly anticipating the release of Anchorman2 : The Legend Continues, now comes news that Harrison Ford is set to join the cast.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the legendary actor is slated to star as a veteran newsman in the comedy.

The film serves as a follow-up to the 2004 hit Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which stars Will Ferrell as a newscaster whose job is threatened when a female anchor is hired.

Both Ferrell and Applegate, along with the stars of the original film like Steve Carell and Paul Rudd are set to reprise their roles in the sequel.

This is also true of many of the film's supporting players, including Fred Willard and Chris Parnell.

Bridesmaids funnywoman Kristen Wigg and 30 Rock star James Mardsen are also slated to appear in the Adam McKay-directed film.

Of course, there's also likely to be plenty of cameos! But little is known about the plot of the forthcoming Anchorman 2, which was penned by Ferrell and McKay and is being produced by Judd Apatow.

Over the course of his lengthy career, Ford has taken on a variety of different characters but he rarely appears in comedies. For every light film like Six Days, Seven Nights, he has done about five high-octane thrillers like Air Force One.

Later this year, the busy 70-year-old will star in the Jackson Robinson biopic 42 as well as the thriller Paranoia alongside Liam Hemsworth and Gary Oldman. He'll also appear in the sci-fi adventure Ender's Game, co-starring Abigail Breslin and Ben Kingsley.

In 2014,  Ford will reprise his roles in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, two of the biggest franchises of all time.

Do you think Ford has the comedic chops to share the screen with the likes of Ferrell and Carell?

Anchorman: The Legend Continues is scheduled to be released on Dec. 20.

At-home science experiments for kids

$
0
0
No bachelor's degree in science necessary! You and your kids can do these science experiments at home! These are simple, age-appropriate experiments using items that you likely already have around your home and will really get your kids' scientific curiosity going. Use this as your go-to list for family-friendly scientific fun!

First things first...

Before you launch into the world of science with your kids, do some prep to make sure that they not only have fun,  but possibly learn a little along the way too! Pick up some of those classic black and white covered composition books that make the perfect "lab books" for your kids to predict what will happen, draw pictures of each step of the experiment and record their observations.

Don't forget about safety! Even the simplest of experiments can quickly turn dangerous when kids are involved! Be extra cautious if you're doing experiments that involve heat and remind them that, no matter how excited they get, only Mom or Dad are allowed to touch and move hot items safely. Goggles would also be a great idea and your kids are probably still young enough to think they're pretty cool.

Lastly, prep your house for your experiments before you even get your kids involved. Put away anything breakable, lay down plastic or newspaper on surfaces that could get wet or ruined and make sure you've done all the dishes so that you can easily dump things in the kitchen sink afterwards. And, if all else fails, move the experiment into the garage or backyard where messes hardly matter!

Grow a little something

Avocado pit science experiment

The simplest of science experiments for kids can come straight from your refrigerator or pantry and although the results aren't immediate, it is a fun way to introduce your kids to science. Start with whatever seeds you may have in your house — from the pit of an avocado to a few leftover lima beans to the seeds from the apple that you just cut up for lunch.

It's most fun if you get a few types of seeds going at the same time, so that your kids can compare the ways that they grow with each other. For avocado pits, place toothpicks in the fat part of the pit so that you can suspend it in a jar, glass or vase of water, with the water coming about half way up the pit. Put it on your windowsill and let it be, checking it each day to make sure there is enough water. Eventually, your kids will be rewarded with stems that start to shoot out the bottom of the pit, into the water!

For other seeds, the classic method of wrapping the seeds in a paper towel soaked with warm water and putting them in a sealed plastic bag will always be the quickest and easiest way to get them growing. Leave them for a solid 24 hours before you start checking them, or leave the paper towel underneath the seeds, so that you can easily see them grow through the bag.

Did your kids love this experiment? Try taking it to the next level with how to grow seeds indoors>>

Where science meets pretty

Colored water and flowers science experiment

The next time you're picking up some blooms to brighten up your home, grab a bunch of white carnations while you're at it! We have no idea if carnations are the hottest new trend in home floral decor, but we do know that they can go a long way for some simple science fun.

Grab a bunch of glasses and fill them with water — one for each bloom in your bunch, giving them a fresh cut at the bottom of the stem first. Then, start experimenting with some colors, using food coloring. Do the basics that you have in your food coloring pack — straight into the glasses of water — and also use it as a chance to mix some secondary colors . Once every glass of water has a color, sit back and watch. It won't be long before the stems of the flowers start to suck up the colored water, turning each bloom a new, colorful hue! And, don't forget to pull out those lab books — this is the perfect chance to draw some pretty observation pictures!

Like oil and water

Oil and water science experiment

We all know the old water and oil experiment, right? Fill a plastic water bottle with cooking oil and water — a half-and-half ratio works great — leaving room at the top of the bottle. Your kids will notice right away that the two liquids separate from each other . Then, take it to the next level by adding some food coloring and seeing what happens . And, shake it all up for a few minutes — make sure the lid is on tight first — and watch it all settle back again. Lastly, once the oil and water have fully separated again, put the entire bottle in the freezer for a few hours and see what changes have occurred. Your kids will be shocked to see that the water, now frozen, is at the top of the bottle and the oil at the bottom!

Yesterday proved to be a bitter pill to swallow in Hollywood, as Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian and Kelly Osbourne were all rushed to the hospital. But what landed them in the ER?

Justin Bieber on concert in LondonJustin Bieber

It's been a rough month for the Biebs. He sufferred the"worst birthday" ever, showed up at a concert two hours late and had his pricey Fisker Karma sports car wrecked again. And now this: During Thursday's concert in London, the pop star fainted backstage after becoming short of breath during his set. For nearly half an hour, fans waited to hear word on what happened to take the 19-year-old from the stage. Perhaps feeling the pressure from the recent criticism for being late, Justin decided the show must go on — he was examined by venue medics and given oxygen before returning to finish out the night. He headed to the London Hospital Clinic after the show for a follow-up examination, where he was cleared of any serious condition.

Kim Kardashian in ParisKim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian hasn't let pregnancy slow her down. The reality star, who is expecting a baby with boyfriend Kanye West, has kept up a dizzying pace, including jet-setting across the country for press appearances and even across the globe for fashion shows. A recent trip to the ER, however, reportedly served as a wake-up call to the busy star. According to the New York Post, Kardashian was rushed to the doctor's office when she "feared she was having a miscarriage." Don't worry — baby Kimye is totally fine! Kim took to Twitter this morning to reassure fans, saying, "Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm doing fine! Just resting... having a good weekend. Love you guys!"

Kelly Osbourne at the Grammys

Kelly Osbourne

In a shocking turn of events, Kelly Osbourne found herself in need of urgent medical attention Thursday when the TV star had a seizure on the set of E!'s Fashion Police. Kelly's spokeswoman confirmed that the 28-year-old did suffer a seizure, but was now alert and in stable condition. Shortly before the episode, Kelly commented to guest host Melissa Rivers that she didn't feel good — moments later, she fell to the floor and began convulsing. Paramedics quickly arrived on the scene to jet the star to the hospital, where she's being held for observation. Ever the trouper, Kelly made it a point to send out a personal update via Twitter: "Thank U all 4 UR beautiful well wishes yes I did have a seizure they are just trying to figure out why?" Take it easy, Kel... Fashion Police wouldn't be the same if you missed an episode!

Music Review: Laura Marling "Where Can I Go?"

No. Seriously. Get on your knees and bow before the queen.

Laura Marling's A simple introduction

World, meet Laura Marling. A wisp of a girl from England, she was raised by a music teacher mother and a father who ran a recording studio. She also grew up listening to her parents' folk records and feeling slightly out of place among people her age — a characteristic still noticeable today when she stands onstage in front of fans and shies away from autograph lines after concerts.

Study up, listen in

Small in stature, but not in voice, Marling's every note calls to memory those same folk albums she was raised on. There's something very simple, crisp and clean about her music. But she dives to far greater depths of lyricism and meaning than anyone else in the industry. Laura released her first album, Alas, I Cannot Swim, the same year that Taylor Swift's second album, Fearless, released. The two women are only a few months apart in age, yet Laura's music started out unfathomably more mature than what Swift is releasing even now, five years later. The comparisons stop at their air, their hair and their acoustic guitars.

Music Review: Lissie's 'Go Your Own Way'>>

On the eve of releasing her fourth studio album, Once I Was An Eagle, Marling's music sounds more her own and also more rooted in the past than ever before. From what I've heard thus far, she's on the cusp of something magnificent and I can't wait to hear what the rest of the album is like.

So, "Where Can I Go?"

Marling's first single off Once I Was An Eagle is proof that folk that runs through her blood. Her sweet but knowing tone fits perfectly when she sings lines like, "Truth about desire they say is the need to breath for another day/The truth I heard about regret, It's the hardest truth I've come to yet/Late at night he'll come to me and tell me I'm alone/Don't you think I already know?" Her simple guitar playing builds into the driving and triumphant sound of an organ . All this to say: The song would not be out of place on Joni Mitchell's album, Blue.

Listen. Please.

Alec Baldwin: We're expecting a girl!

Alec Baldwin and his wife, Hilaria Thomas, are thinking pink these days as they announced on Thursday that they are expecting a girl.

AlecBaldwinBabyGirl

Are you keeping track of this week's Hollywood baby news? Holly Madison had a girl and named her daughter Rainbow Aurora. Jessica Simpson accidentally announced to Jimmy Kimmel that she's having a boy. Ali Landry confirmed that she is pregnant with her third child.

Now, Alec Baldwin joins that list: he's having a girl.

Baldwin and his wife Hilaria Thomas broke the news in mid-February that they're expecting their first child together. The former 30 Rock star has an 18-year-old daughter, Ireland, from his marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

Thomas is currently a lifestyle correspondent for Extra, so all of the baby news exclusives are coming from the entertainment show. Thomas is due late this summer as is Extra colleague Mario Lopez's wife Courtney Mazza. The set will be filled with baby news and stories.

Baldwin is already used to being outnumbered by gender in his household. As Thomas told Extra, “Alec and I are overjoyed that we are going to be welcoming a little girl into our lives.” The couple joked that with two female dogs and a baby girl in the house, Alec will really be outnumbered.

Alec Baldwin vs Shia LaBeouf: Who's the bigger hothead?>>

The couple met in 2011 and married in late June 2012. While it seems that his marriage has encouraged the actor to get into shape, it has not toned down his temper or his strong opinions. He's currently engaged in a war of words with actor Shia LaBeouf after the young actor dropped out of a Broadway show.

Let's hope a new baby with late-night feedings and diaper changes will help Baldwin take it down a notch.

Congratulations, Hilaria and Alec!

A toddler walks into a sushi bar

How To Take A Toddler to A Sushi Bar and Survive

What to order &
how to stay sane!

A new mom's survival guide to visiting your local sushi restaurant with a toddler in tow and still getting invited back.

As a new mom there were a few things I'd fallen in love with during my childless years that I refused to give up once I was an official member of Club Mom. One of those things was eating at nice restaurants that did not mandate that waitstaff lead birthday songs or employ the use of woodland creature-style mascots. Our local sushi bar was one of those places. Although the days of leisurely dinners and uninterrupted wine-fueled conversations were on hold for the moment , I was bound and determined to figure out how to not just visit my favorite dining establishments, but to enjoy myself. I was doing this not just for the sake of my husband and me, but as a way to introduce my daughter to new foods and show her the importance of culinary exploration, hoping that one day she will fall in love with it as much as we have.

And, mama needs to get out of the house.

First: Know when to go!

First, and most important, is timing. Kids are wiggly, rowdy, prone to tantrums and, if they aren't yours, completely annoying. I get it. In my experience with a very mobile child, the best time to go is about 5 p.m. More like a late lunch in my childless days, but it's a big part of ensuring a low-stress meal. Most restaurants are nearly empty, allowing for immediate seating, shorter ordering-to-eating lag time and fewer patrons to irritate if wiggly child has a meltdown. Also, most people who DO favor a 5 p.m. dinnertime are often senior citizens who tend to forgive toddler shenanigans and other moms who are just grateful that said screaming child is not theirs.

Toddler at sushi bar

What can you order?

Now, here we are, with mostly well-behaved small person, seated and ready to go. What CAN you order at a sushi restaurant? Well, when it comes to raw fish, it's tricky. There is nothing inherently wrong with raw fish and plenty of cultures feed sashimi to very small children. The problem is the risk of food poisoning coupled with the fact that children under 5 are highly susceptible to foodborne illnesses. All of this can result in major consequences. So my official, on the record, recommendation is no raw fish for your wiggly toddler. There will be time for that later in life. But don't be discouraged, there are still plenty of foods on the menu for your tiny human to eat. At a very young age, my daughter began to love edamame, and, lucky for us, it arrives at the table mere moments after ordered, although you will still have to shell it. For the same reason, a small side of rice is a great menu option as well. Order both while you are in the process of sitting down in the hopes that they will be at the table by the time your adorable tiny human is settled into the highchair.

Check out these safe sushi choices for kids>>

You're on a roll!

But what about rolls?! You came to a sushi bar, you want rolls! Although the general public will tend to flip their lids about mercury poisoning, the risk is really low. In most cases, you would have to eat more than 12 ounces a week for it even to be a factor. If your child rarely or never eats fish, just make sure they don't eat the equivalent of a large burrito's worth of fish, and you shall be fine. If you still have concerns, the types of fish to avoid, according to the CDC, are: shark, swordfish, king mackerel and tilefish. Cooked salmon or shrimp rolls are a great option. California rolls are generally made with Krab , which tends to be an amalgamation of various types of fish, both shellfish and fin-bearing fish. Although some fish in that Krab may be high in mercury it won't be the majority, making California Rolls a safe option. When ordering your tiny wiggly human a sushi roll, ask that they do not add wasabi to the roll. Nearly all rolls are made with a small amount of wasabi inside the roll. Some chefs tend to add more than others and that can lead to a painful first sushi bite for a tiny sensitive palate. Veggie rolls, filled with cucumbers and avocado, are a fabulous choice as well.

How to Take A Toddler to a Sushi Bar and Survive

Waiting is the hardest part

So you've placed your order, now what? Let's back up to before we started this brave and daring sushi adventure. Sometime prior to your adventure stop by the dollar section of your local Target and grab a few things. To be honest, it doesn't even matter what they are. Measuring cups? Sure! Crayons? Even better! Squeezy stress balls? Hey, you might need that one for yourself. Wrap them up like presents and place them in the depths of that oversized handbag you most likely own now that you are a mom, pulling them out at dinner to distract and amuse your child for tens of minutes! Cheap dollar store items now have untold value. Once that has reached its inevitable end, you will need backup. If you own a portable internet-capable device , download Sesame Street prior to your departure for an emergency backup plan or visit YouTube for an Elmo search. Another great strategy is to put small toys inside small Tupperware containers and put those in your Huge Mom Bag. Especially if these are toys your child has never seen before, it will amaze and astound them, and they will be completely entranced by placing the toys from one container into the other. Also, an easy way to bring home leftovers! Look how ecofriendly you are.

You survived. Your first trip to the sushi bar accompanied by a tiny human, and you lived to tell the tale.

The View is going to look decidedly different next season! One day after Joy Behar announced she's choosing to leave the daytime talk show, rumor has it Elisabeth Hasselbeck will also be leaving, but under a different set of circumstances.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Barbara Walters

The View ladies are dropping like flies! Elisabeth Hasselbeck is reportedly getting axed from the show after a poll of viewers revealed her conservative opinions and politics made her unpopular.

On the tail of news that Joy Behar is choosing to leaveThe View after 16 seasons of wisecracks, reports are circulating that Elisabeth Hasselbeck won't be returning either — but this departure doesn't appear to be the blonde's idea.

Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg walk off The View >>

Us Weekly reports an inside source has spilled the gossip beans, explaining that the conservative co-host is getting the boot after market research numbers proved she's unpopular with those who count most — the audience.

"The viewers they polled all said she was too extreme and right wing," the unnamed insider explained. "People did not watch the show because of Elisabeth. So they told her yesterday her contract would not be renewed."

Bill Maher: Elisabeth Hasselbeck has a "bug up her a**">>

However, a rep for the 35-year-old mother of three has a different take on the reports that her client has lost a seat at the show's table. When reached for comment, the rep stated: "Elisabeth Hasselbeck is a valued member of The View and has a long-term contract."

Hasselbeck, whose television career began in 2001 as a contestant on Survivor, joined daytime television's talk platform in November of 2003 following Lisa Ling's departure.

No word yet on if Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd and 83-year-old Barbara Walters, who just recently returned to television after battling chicken pox, are expected back for Season 17, but it's probably best not to assume anything at this point!

What's your take on Elisabeth Hasselbeck reportedly being booted from The View?

Sofia Vergara is set to star alongside Jason Statham in a remake of the 1986 film Heat.

Sofia Vergara is set to take on yet another action film.

The curvaceous star, who will soon be seen in Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills, is slated to appear in Heat alongside Jason Statham.

The high-octane thriller is a remake of the 1986 Dick Richards film of the same name. Not to be confused with the 1995 crime drama starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro, the original features Burt Reynolds and Karen Young.

Set in Las Vegas, the film is based on the bestselling novel by William Goldman.

According to Variety, Statham will take on Reynold's role while Vergara will star as a friend of Nick's who also happens to be a prostitute.

The plot concerns Nick Escalante, an ex-soldier with a gambling problem who attempts to raise enough money to move to Venice, Italy. His plans go awry when he finds himself embroiled in a conflict with the Mafia.

The film will be directed by Simon West, whose previous credits include the guilty pleasure action thriller Con Air, and The Expendables 2, also starring Statham.

Interestingly enough, William Goldman, who wrote the screenplay for the original Heat, will also pen the remake.

Vergara is best known for her role as Gloria on the hit sitcom Modern Family but in recent years, the Colombian-born actress has appeared on the big screen in films such as New Year's Eve.
