5 Things You've Always Wondered About Dating Answered

Most women have gathered around a brunch table or dirty bar to discuss the big questions that come with dating. You know the ones I mean — the ones we all experience (sometimes over and over) but for which we can, for some reason, never really find a single works-every-time answer. But still, we can never get enough wisdom, ideas and theories that can help us navigate those inevitable relationship quandaries.

To give you some important tools for your arsenal, we canvassed women for the dating questions that they’ve never quite figured out. Then we reached out to experts for their input. We discovered that, while there may not actually be a one-size-fits-all answer to our most earnest questions, we do have some A-plus advice that will at least shine a brighter light on the murkiest (and at times embarrassing) dating questions.

On pursuit

Q: “How much should I pursue a relationship? How much should I hold back? How to answer: 'Should I text him or her, or wait to be texted — and for how long?'" — Taylor, 28, New Jersey

A: “Don’t play games. Be yourself. If you’re not sure who that self is or what you want in life and relationships, then focus on finding out rather than texting strategies. Think about it: If you haven’t figured out who you are, how can you find someone who’s the right a match? When you come from an authentic place, no matter how you communicate with people you’re dating, you’re acting out self-respect rather than a place of fear. If you like someone, you can show that person. And at the same time, always have your own life filled with friends, passions and hobbies. I think there’s a difference between ‘she’s hard to pin down and get a date with’ because she has a full life versus ‘she’s playing games and being coy.’ Your behavior — texting and otherwise — shouldn’t be centered around another person and how you hope or fear they’ll perceive you. And ultimately, at the end of the day, you should choose to spend time with someone because you want to be with that person — not because you can’t live without that person.” — Nicole A. Schaffer, Ph.D.

On being pursued

Q: “How much effort is enough effort to receive? How do you know when it’s the right balance? If a person likes you, will he or she really do anything or do whatever what it takes to be with you — or are people sometimes just busy with other life things and not prioritizing relationships?” — Rose, 26, Queens

A: “You have to ask yourself: Do I want someone who makes their relationship a priority? If the answer is yes, then he or she should be making efforts to be in touch regularly and clearly stating when they want to see you and making that happen — not to mention making it clear how much they like spending time with you. If they really like you, they’ll want to be with you and their efforts will match. Let people show you who they are and what their priorities are based on their actions, not just their words. Remember, people generally show the best side of themselves during courtship when they’re out to impress and before they’ve gotten too comfortable. Try to project out and think about what it’ll be like when things get more difficult or less exciting — as life tends to do. If they don’t make efforts in the beginning, it’s not going to improve later.” — Sharon Sommers, Psy.D.

On being ghosted

Q: “Why did he or she ghost? How can I avoid being ghosted on?” — Every single girl we asked for questions

A: “First of all, recognize that being ghosted doesn’t define who are you, but rather says more about the person that’s ghosting — and it’s nothing good! Don’t attempt to mind-read and create a story about why the person is ghosting. Accept that, ultimately, you don’t know why. Tolerating the unknown is difficult in any context — especially when it comes to dating, when you’re excited about someone — but do your best to try to tolerate the uncertainty and ambiguity. Because that’s far preferable and much healthier than making up a story about what’s wrong with you.” — Schaffer

On text interpretation

Q: “Are there any general rules when it comes to reading the tone of a text? How can you avoid misunderstandings?” — Maya, 25, Manhattan

A: “First rule of thumb: No drunk texting! That’s never a good idea, as you know if you’ve ever done it. Get one of those apps that has safety measures to prevent you from doing so, or better yet, don’t get so drunk that it’s a regular risk! Secondly: Put off today what you can do tomorrow. Not literally — I don’t mean wait a day to respond to messages to appear mysterious — but in other words, if you’re not sure how you want to respond yet, put down your phone and ruminate for awhile before sending a message. In this digital age, the concept of empathy sometimes gets lost on the screen. In texting, think about what you would like to hear/read via text. Put yourself in the other person’s shoes and think about how s/he would feel reading your text. And sometimes, if there’s a pattern of misunderstandings — some people are better at texting than others — just suggest meeting in person or hopping on the phone to talk about anything important rather than risking misinterpretation or unnecessary drama.” — Schaffer

On finances

Q: “How should we split things if my S.O. makes more money than I do? How do we keep it fair?”

A: “Money is harder to talk about than sex. More important than the dollar amount that each partner pays is their intent. I think it’s important to treat each other well. That might mean that the person with the lower income pays for drinks when the higher-income partner pays for the pricier dinner. And all offerings should be sincere — so don’t offer to pay just to ‘test’ if someone’s generous or cheap. Honestly offer what you can. Obviously there are major spoilers ahead here, so if you haven't seen the season finale of The Walking Dead, stop reading right now and go watch it. You're way behind.

All of us who have watched TWD from the beginning have learned not to take it too hard when a character gets killed off because it happens. All. The. Fucking. Time.

In Sunday's season finale, it was a memorable death: Sasha, played by Sonequa Martin-Green, took a suicide pill to zombify herself after her solo mission to kill Negan went awry and she was captured. Then, as a walker, she attacked Negan again. Unfortunately, Negan escaped, and Sasha was killed. Cue all our tears.

And we're not the only ones crying. Pretty much every cast member on TWD is mourning Martin-Green's exit, and most of them took to social media to leave her heartfelt tributes.

Martin-Green already has her next career move planned out: She's going to star in an upcoming Star Trek revival, something that has her The Walking Dead co-star, Andrew Lincoln, pretty excited.

"She’s an incredible personality with incredible grace and strength and tenacity," Lincoln told Variety after it was revealed that she was exiting TWD after her fifth season as Sasha. "She’s a very impressive woman. She will be leading that starship with the same class and fortitude. That is going to be one happy spaceship. I’d love to beam myself up at some point in some kind of Greg Nicotero special effects makeup."

Mel Brown's Headed for a Nasty Divorce

Former Spice Girl Melanie "Mel B" Brown is heading into one nasty divorce battle.

It's been a couple of weeks since Brown filed for divorce from her husband, Stephen Belafonte, and now, she's filed new court papers requesting a restraining order. In her filing, she claimed that Belafonte physically assaulted her on numerous occasions during their marriage and that he verbally abused her by making disparaging comments about her appearance and her intelligence, particularly just after she had given birth. The restraining order was granted by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge, who ordered Belafonte to stay away from Brown and her three kids.

But Belafonte didn't take the accusations lying down. He fired back with a statement denying all of Brown's abuse allegations.

"What matters most to Mr. Belafonte is the safety and well-being of his daughters and step-daughters. It's a shame that Ms. Brown elected not to proceed in a respectful and amicable fashion in this very private matter. In due course, Mr. Belafonte will be filing his response to the outrageous and unfounded allegations made by Ms. Brown, which allegations he vehemently denies," Belafonte's lawyer said in a statement. "When the Court determines the truth, it will become clear that this entire charade was nothing more than a smear campaign intended to cover up Ms. Brown's own conduct during the marriage in light of her current involvement with a family television show, and in an effort to unfairly gain leverage both financially and with respect to custody of the children."

The statement continues, "When the degree to which Ms. Brown has gone to create a false depiction of her marriage to Mr. Belafonte is uncovered, real victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse will be understandably offended, angry and upset. Mr. Belafonte is confident that the truth will come out when he has his day in court at which time he looks forward to being reunited with his children. In the meantime, Mr. Belafonte requests that he and his children be given the space they deserve during this challenging time."

Brown definitely has support on her side, though. Her estranged sister, Danielle Brown, posted on Instagram to back up her claims and send a message to reporters covering Brown and Belafonte's split.

"Dear all media I won't be selling a story on my sister never have and never will!! Here is my comment below so you can now leave me and my mum alone and let us be united and grieve the loss of my dad," Danielle wrote. "@stephenthinks11 8 years of abusive calls me and my mum have had stating we would never see Melanie again. I am laughing and celebrating as you were wrong.you are a sorry excuse of a man !!"

She ended her post with a note saying she hopes Belafonte and the nanny he allegedly cheated on Brown with, Lorraine Giles, "rot in hell."

Brown also has support from her celeb friends, including Sharon Osbourne, who claims she witnessed some of the abuse Brown suffered at the hands of her husband.

"In the situation that she’s been in for 10 years, it’s not just physical, it’s mental abuse too," Osbourne, who was a judge on X Factor alongside Brown, said during Wednesday's episode of The Talk. "Three years ago, in the final two days of X Factor, she didn’t make the first day and she was in the hospital. And it was reported in all the papers that said ‘allegedly’ she’s been beaten by her husband. And she came back for the final day and she had a black eye and bruising everywhere, but she made the final."

Osbourne continued, "This has been brewing and people talking for a very, very long time. You know what, she’s a good girl. She’s a great mother. She works her bum off."

It's a good thing Brown has all this support — it sounds like she's going to need it.

8 Reasons Why Sex Can Absolutely Get Better With Age

$

For many women, the thought of aging and what comes with it (gray hair, wrinkles, hot flashes anyone?!) may not exactly put them in the mood. Some assume that sex simply takes a backseat as the years pass — and it's true that life gets busy and complicated, and sex isn't always at the top of the agenda.

Whether you're worried that getting older will make you feel less physically sexy or less interested in getting laid, it's true that your sex life may change as you age, but that doesn't mean it has to change for the worse. While maintaining satisfying sex does take work — especially if you're in a decadeslong monogamous relationship — studies actually show that sex often can, believe it or not, get even better with age.

Curious about why and how getting older can make some women feel even hotter and headier between the sheets? We talked to real women who spilled their great-sex-at-any-age secrets..

No inhibitions

“I can't recall the last time I felt worried and shut down over some insecurity about my body, my partner's body or whatever we're doing together. When I was young, that's how I felt all the time. But now, it's sex with full lights on, lots of noises, during which I ask for what I want, accept what's offered and just go for it. I'm never disappointed by sex, because with maturity comes acceptance and gratitude, both for my many diverse sexual partners and for myself.” — Stephanie, 45, Mesa, Arizona

More soulfulness

“As we get older, sex isn't just a function of unbridled lusty attraction. Sex and intimacy, when you're over 50 and have had more than 25 years together, becomes an extension of the sacredness of a life shared. It isn't even simply sex anymore, but rather an open-hearted communication of two souls. When we honor our own innate soulfulness, only then can we honor our partner's innate soulfulness. This enables a couple to share a smile that's a divine, sacred union that just might lead to divine, sacred lovemaking." — Renee Tarantowski, 50, Mundelein, Illinois

Less stress

“My fear of getting pregnant in my 20s, 30s and even 40s made me more paranoid about sex. Even when I was on birth control, I worried because I had friends who got pregnant while on the pill. Being preoccupied with that worry made great sex very, very difficult for me. Now that I'm in my 50s, and there's no biological way for me to get pregnant, I have a lot less anxiety when I have sex — and that spells better sex." — Mary, 56, Woodstock, New York

Better self-understanding

“By the time I reached 50, I knew my body better than ever. After having kids and going through menopause, my body changed so much — including and especially what turned me on and made me orgasm. Now that I know what my body likes, it makes sex that much more fun and satisfying with my husband." — Judith, 62, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Body love

“I’m definitely more comfortable with my body today than I was in my 20s and 30s. While I still exercise, I don’t worry anymore about my love handles, thighs and stretch marks. That’s a far cry from when I was nearly anorexic in my youth because I worried how my boyfriends would see my body. I’m happily married and my husband couldn’t give a lick about my soft areas. Losing these concerns and growing confidence over the years has made sex better." — Chris, 43, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Deeper emotional connection

“I used to read page after page of 'sex advice' in all those women's magazines when I was younger. I feel like a lot of it distorted my vision of what good sex is. As I got older, I put the magazines down and listened to what I wanted, not what the world told me I should want. It was then that I actually started enjoying sex. It wasn’t easy, though; it took two failed marriages to realize that sex isn’t just about the physical, but also so much about the mental and emotional." — Faith, 51, Sacramento, California

Quality over quantity

“I don’t worry about how frequently I'm having sex anymore. It's natural that when you’re younger, you’re having more of it. But my husband and I are both in our 70s and just don’t have the energy and stamina that we used to. That’s not to say we don’t get physical with each other. Just because we’re having less sex doesn’t mean we’re not sexually satisfied. Over time, you develop a closeness and trust, like you’re one person. That said, even things as simple as a hug and kiss feel wonderful with him. And when we do have sex, it’s just as magical as it’s always been." — Anne, 73, Montclair, New Jersey

Less stress, more sex

“It’s really not until after you retire and the kids are off to college and on their own that you really have the time to relax and enjoy each other. Sex always felt good with my husband, but it was often hard to squeeze it in. Making time for sex physically and mentally can be challenging, but now that we have less stress, our sex life has become more fun and relaxed. It's easier to be present.” — Stevie, 64, Overland Park, Kansas

Moonlight's Pivotal Same-Sex Kiss Is Nominated For a Big Award

$

0

The 2017 MTV Movies Awards have been announced and holy smokes, is this an exciting lineup. According to a press release from MTV, the categories are getting a major shake-up this year: "In a first-of-its-kind move, MTV is blending nominees across movies and television where actors from all screens can vie for the Golden Popcorn in the same categories. Additionally, the show will break down the gender wall with exclusively non-gendered categories." Can I get a hell yes?

There's some new categories thrown into the mix this year, like Best Fight Against the System (obviously here for Get Out), Best Hero (it's totes going to go Felicity Jones in Rogue One) and Best Duo (how could Broad City lose?). But the most interesting of the new categories is, without a doubt, the Tearjerker category. I'm calling it right now: it's going to be a tough fight between Hodor's death on Game of Thrones and the This Is Us karate scene with Jack and Randall, but Hodor will for sure prevail.

More: 22 Best Moments From the MTV Movie Awards (Including That Kiss!) — in GIFs

Along with all those first-of-its-kind moves, one of MTV's nominees this year is set to break some big, big barriers. Two of the Best Kiss nominees, Moonlight's Ashton Sanders and Jharrel Jerome, could potentially make MTV Movie Awards history if they win on May 7th. The category they're nominated in, Best Kiss, may have a noticeably large group of same-sex couples nominated over the years, but this category has been astonishingly white and has, when it comes to the kinds of kisses getting nominated, favored gay kisses played for comedic effect.

Moonlight Teens
Image: Giphy

Jerome and Sanders' Moonlight kiss is my favorite in this category. They're up against Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling for La La Land, Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard for Empire, and last but not least, Zac Efron and Anna Kendrick for Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. Not to shade the latter couples, but line up all those kisses and tell me Moonlight's is not the most perfect out of the entire group. Go on, I dare you.

This kiss is not only genuine and passionate, but it is so representative of a kind of longing unique to how we portray queerness in film. You can see there is a desire to say things that can't be easily said between the two young men in this film. Their moment on the beach is so full of intensity, teenage hormones, and love that it's tough not to feel the emotional pull of it as you watch. Basically, Jerome and Sanders deserve to win this.

More: Why Our World Needed Moonlight So Much, As Explained by Director Barry Jenkins

Apart from its singular greatness, this Moonlight kiss (should it be crowned the winner) has the potential to occupy a unique seat in MTV Movie Awards history. In the 25 years of the MTV Movie Awards' existence, there have been 18 same-sex kisses nominated. Those kisses break down into the following demographics:

  • 14 couples and 4 threesomes
  • 6 kisses have been specifically guy-on-guy
  • Among the guy-on-guy kisses, only 2 have been played for serious reasons relevant to the story (James Franco and Sean Penn in Milk and Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal in Brokeback Mountain) and not for comedic effect between two straight male characters
  • Out of the 40 people included in these nominations, only two non-white actors have been nominated (Sacha Baron Cohen and Natassia Malthe).

So, in an overwhelmingly white category and in one that often nominates gay male kisses played for the punchline rather than something meaningful, Moonlight's pivotal kiss could make MTV history. Jerome and Sanders would join a small group of actors of color to win the award (joining Will Smith, Sean Patrick Thomas and Sacha Baron Cohen). They would also be the first pair of male Best Kiss nominees of color to win and, furthermore, win for a kiss that was productive to Moonlight, championing and exploring a queer narrative we rarely see on film.

So yeah, does Moonlight deserve to win? Obviously. Are the chance high that it could win? Considering it's already managed to surprise us with big awards wins in the recent past, I think that anything is possible where Moonlight is concerned.

Sandra Diaz-Twine Says She's Still the Best Survivor Player Ever

The only person to ever win Survivor two times has now experienced how it feels to be voted out of the game. Sandra Diaz-Twine, the self-proclaimed queen who won Seasons 7 and 20, was booted when an unfortunate tribal swap put her in the minority. During our one-on-one conversation with Sandra, she declared that she is still the best castaway in Survivor history before expressing her confidence that she was a likely contender to win again. Plus, she responded to all her haters on social media — including reacting to the nastiness she's received from notorious Survivor villain Russell Hantz.

SheKnows: As you were sitting there at Tribal Council, did you know you going to be voted off?

Sandra Diaz-Twine: I had a feeling it was gonna be me. I was optimistic that Ozzy seriously wanted to have an alliance with me, but Sarah told me to my face that she couldn't believe I had gone to so many Tribal Councils and was still in the game. Right there I just realized they wouldn't even let me get my foot in the door. Not on that tribe. I had a feeling if it's not Tai that it's gonna be me. Why not take me out? This was their chance.

SK: What did it feel like to have your torch snuffed out for the first time ever?

SDT: I was joking about it because I said, "Jeff, you've been dying to snuff my torch for years." I always felt like Jeff couldn't wait for the day he can snuff my torch. I always said he didn't love me as a player, so I asked him one time. He said, "No, Sandra, you're mistaken. I adore you as a player. You're one of the best winners ever." When it happened I was like, "Jeff, you've been dying to snuff my torch. No! Don't do it! Don't do it, Jeff!" It has to happen. I was OK then. I'm OK now. I have zero regrets.

SK: It did seem like there was a real possibility the tribe was actually going to change their votes at the last minute to get Tai out of the game instead of you. Is it something you believed was going to happen as the scrambling unfolded?

SDT: Yeah. In my conversation with Ozzy, I told him I wanted to offer him the same alliance I offered to Malcolm. "You protect me now, and I'll take care of you later when we make the merge and it's every man for himself. These people love you now, and they smile at you and they're happy you're in their tribe, but once we merge they're gonna come after you. This is your fourth time playing. This is the time to get it right. I can help you get there. Use me. Keep me around." I thought it was solid and that we had made an agreement. Everyone was telling me, "Don't worry, Sandra. It's not you. It's Tai. We're ready to get rid of him." But Tai at Tribal Council is grabbing on to his pocket like he had an Immunity Idol. I think that's when Ozzy got scared with the fact that Tai was so blatant in saying Ozzy had to go because he's a strategic player and a physical threat. That was real. I think Ozzy panicked, because if Tai did have something and played it, there was potential for Ozzy to go home. I think it all backfired. I ended up being the victim, but it was either they're going for Tai or they're coming for me.

SK: You went into this season as the only two-time winner. You're an undefeated force in Survivor history. Was there any hesitation about going back and putting your winning streak at risk?

SDT: No. Not at all. Although I did get voted off, which I totally expected this to happen eventually, I still feel very successful. No one is a two-time winner like me. It's not even just winning. It's winning the first season you go on. Not winning later on down the road after you play a second, third or fourth time. You can't take this away from me. I won both the two seasons that I went on back-to-back. I didn't think it would hurt my chances any. It actually showed more of my game. I couldn't hide behind no one. No one was a bigger threat than me with the exception for Tony being crazy as a winner. I really was always in the forefront, but I always had the right people with me until this tribe swap.

SK: Do you still believe you're the best player of all time?

SDT: I am. If I'm not, who is? You tell me.

SK: We did see a much more aggressive game from you this time around. There were many times you were very vocal and snarky toward your fellow castaways. Were you concerned that your outspoken nature was going to make you a bigger target than you already were?

SDT: No. Not at all. Maybe in future games, but at that time I was always with the right people. I was only boisterous when something goes wrong and someone upsets me. It's not like every time I open my mouth I'm upset about something. For the most part, I'm very calm. I get along with everyone. I love them all to pieces. If I do play again and they're coming after me, they better come guns blazing because they're gonna get an even bigger Sandra!

Sandra Diaz-Twine at Nuku camp on Survivor: Game Changers

SK: In all the pre-game interviews, nearly every single castaway said they wanted to vote you off first. That didn't happen, and you made it much longer than most of the competitors had initially intended. That being said, what was your strategy to overcome being such a huge target?

SDT: As long as I had the right people on my side, I was good. The only reason me and you are having this interview is because I picked the wrong buff last night at that tribe swap. Had I gone to Exile Island, or had I gone back to the Mana tribe with Troyzan, Hali, Michaela and Aubry, I would've been OK for a couple more days. Had I made the merge, I would've went all the way to the final three because I had all my ducks in a row. I would've made it to day 39, but grabbing that buff was something I couldn't control. It was the only thing that did me in. You can do everything in your power to control the game, but something like a tribe swap or an Idol, can set you back. That's what happened to me.

SK: The first time you won on Survivor: Pearl Islands, Facebook was something that didn't even exist. Now, with this season, you've been getting quite a bit of haters lashing out on social media. What has it been like for you to read some of the nasty comments?

SDT: The thing is, they don't really know me. I only got on Twitter because Courtney Yates [Survivor: China, Survivor: Heroes Vs. Villains] was like, "Sandra, you gotta go on Twitter." I'm like, "Courtney, I don't like that stuff. That's not how I am. I work every day. I don't just sit here every minute of every day on social media. That's not me." She was like, "So many people love you, but some people are gonna hate you. You just have to put your big girl panties on." So I was like, "OK. I'm gonna put my big girl panties on and see what happens." So for the most part, if they don't like me I just block them. If they want to go hate and talk nasty, go somewhere else. If I really impact someone that much, then forget it. I'll probably even lose more fans because I won't stop.

SK: Some of the anger toward you from fans came when you pushed so hard to eat the baby goat. In reality, you've gone on the record to say your tribe actually ate some goat when you were away with producers filming a confessional.

SDT: Exactly. The next day we had goat. When you go back and watch the footage, you're gonna see Malcolm eating a big piece of meat, me eating a big piece of meat and Aubry eating a big piece of meat. That's not fish and that's not chicken.

SK: Which goat did you guys eat?

SDT: It wasn't one of those two you saw on TV. Those two were let go.

SK: Speaking of haters, Russell Hantz has been blasting you on Twitter since you were voted off. He even made a comment saying his heart breaks for your husband because he has to sleep with you. What's your take on Russell today?

SDT: I was hoping not to have to talk about him during my interviews until now. I saw Russell a couple of years ago. I asked him how he was doing, and he had a TV show. I was really, really happy for him. The thing is, I've already moved on. It's been six or seven years. I actually told him last night that I felt bad for him. I feel he needs some sort of therapy, because I don't wake up every day thinking of Russell Hantz or how he played Survivor or that he played three times and lost all three times. He swears he's the best player ever, yet he has nothing to show for it. It's kind of sad that he wakes up, yawns, brushes his teeth, pees and then thinks about me and my millions and my wins on Survivor. It's one-sided because I don't think much about Russell. Period. Yet, it seems that not a day can go by where he's not thinking about me.

SK: Is there anybody on this cast who doesn't deserve the title of being a game changer?

SDT: When I saw Hali in California for the very first time, I didn't recognize her face. I was like, "Who is this girl?" I didn't know who she was. But now knowing Hali and playing with her, I know exactly why she's out there. I know exactly why every single person on this cast is out there. They are game changers because of the moves they make. They're awesome players. There's no telling what's gonna happen. This season has to be number one. Pearl Islands was number one forever until Heroes Vs. Villains came along. I honestly believe Game Changers is gonna be number one followed by Heroes Vs. Villains and Pearl Islands. Wait until you see the rest of what's going on this season. It's gonna be awesome. It's gonna be a good season.

SK: Are you promising fireworks?

SDT: Oh, yeah! Oh my God. Every Tribal Council since Tony went home, is it not another better Tribal Council following? Tony goes home. Caleb goes home. Malcolm goes home. JT goes home. I go home. Every Tribal Council is just better than the previous one. It's only gonna get better.

SK: Of the three times you've played Survivor, do you have a favorite moment?

SDT: Getting rid of JT far exceeds everything else. I didn't know JT was after me, so it was awesome.

SK: What parts of your strategy did we not see on TV?

SDT: Malcolm was my number one. Although in Malcolm's interviews, he kept saying that Aubry was his number one and he told her everything. Well, I told Malcolm everything. I think that's another reason why me and Aubry couldn't play together. Not that we were fighting for Malcolm, but I was trusting him with everything and he would turn it around and confide in Aubry about everything.

SK: Is this the first time since Heroes Vs. Villains that you've been asked to play again?

SDT: No. In Blood Vs. Water, my daughter tried out and she stayed in California for the whole week of casting. In the end, we didn't make the final cut. That was the only other time there was consideration for me to come back and play.

SK: Would you play for a fourth time?

SDT: I would.

SK: What would you do differently?

SDT: Nothing. There's nothing I can do differently. All I know how to do is play my game. I just have to make it as far as I can being that I'd probably again be the biggest target out there.

What Eating the Feet First on a Chocolate Bunny Says About You

Every Easter, I sneak into my kids' baskets to snack on their life-size chocolate bunnies, a ritual I've indulged in since they were babies. As I hide away in the laundry room nibbling, there's always one rule I adhere to: Eat the feet first, so the bunny's still smiling when my kids dig in. Am I the most thoughtful mom ever or what?

Well, it may be sweet, IMHO, but it's definitely not normal according to a new study published just in time for Easter. Because according to everyone else in the world, eating the chocolate bunny's ears first is the only way to go — 59 percent of the 28,113 respondents preferred to eat chocolate rabbits starting with the ears.

While only 4 percent of us start at the other end and gnaw off the feet first. And the rest of the chocolate bunny eaters have no particular preference when it comes to how they devour their victim. Researchers found that the rest of the bunny eating bandits — 33 percent total — have no preference as to where they start.

The head study author, Kathleen Yaremchuk, a researcher and otolaryngologist at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, wanted to have fun with the topic and to establish the unique nature of chocolate bunny eating — which must be why she hilariously titled the study "Seasonality of Auricular Amputations in Rabbits." "It was interesting to discover that few other confectionary symbols, such as Santa, succumb to isolated defects like the chocolate bunnies do," said Yaremchuk. She also told the New York Daily News, "People don’t report eating Santa’s face."

Regardless of what the study says, I'm sticking to my feet-first rule. After all, my daughter says that starting with the feet is the only way to go — because you can live without feet, but not without a head!

The Major Way Modern Daters Are Different From Older Generations

$

Going out on a first date isn't about putting on heels and an LBD and splitting a fancy meal — at least not anymore according to a new study. And if couples are going out for elaborate feasts, they're probably going Dutch according to new data from a joint survey by Tinder and GrubHub.

In the study, the two digital on-demand companies polled 2,000 singles and found that the majority were A-OK with splitting the check on a first date (or, if they're millennials, maybe they've just gotten used to it?). In fact, only 36 percent would say no to a second date simply based on who footed the bill. And 62 percent weren't even that interested in having a high-end meal; they just wanted a hearty one! Hey, fair enough.

More: What to wear on a first date

Still, even if couples are kind of over the idea of old-fashioned, formal dining-out dates, it turns out that they do still care about etiquette. Casual restaurants and paying for yourself is one thing, but bad table manners is another entirely. Not knowing how to use chopsticks or stealing food off a plate is still considered a major faux pas. At least some things are still sacred!

Maybe most interesting of all is that 60 percent of respondents were down with the idea of getting takeout and eating dinner at home during the third date. (Emphasis on third — since Netflix and chill is often code for "hang out and hookup," it makes sense that some people would be more comfortable with takeout on the couch after a few dates getting to know one another. If you like someone enough to make out, you probably know it by then.)

Looks like dating isn’t nearly as complicated or high-maintenance as it used to be — at least not where eating is concerned!

Did Social Media Create the Sanctimommy — or Were People Always Terrible?

$

Welcome back to Parental Advisory, where I answer all of your social media and IRL parenting etiquette questions. This week, let's discuss the origins of sanctimommies.

Question:

I'm 34 and childless by choice, and I've been DROWNING in sanctimommies now for over a year. It has gotten to the point that I had to deactivate my Facebook page. The entire medium has been commandeered by self-righteous parents and not-as-cute-as-you-think baby/toddler photos.

I really don't mind kids. Kids are great. I just can't stand the entitlement (self-righteousness/arrogance/condescension/etc) that new parents seem to be basking in these days.

I've been wondering if parents were always like this (and yes, there are exceptions to the rule, but it seems like a majority of them fall into the "my baby gives me license to be an asshole" category), and I just didn't see it because my peers and I were the kids... or if social media has given birth to this monstrosity? I really don't remember my mother treating me like I was some sort of golden snowflake, but maybe they all do it, and Facebook and Instagram just put the whole smelly mess up close and personal in my face. What do you think? Is it just a matter of perspective, or is this a new thing?

— A.

Answer:

It probably won't surprise you, A., to learn that I've gotten this question a lot, from graduate students writing theses about how parents use social media to national newspaper reporters to my own friends and acquaintances. Everyone wants to know which came first, the social media or the sanctimommy, and I approach the answer much like the classic chicken and egg analogy. Sometimes the question is less about social media and more along the lines of, "Were pretentious parents always this way, or did they get that way after having kids?" which is a similar thought process. Regardless of how it's phrased, people seem to be asking essentially the same things: Is everyone doomed to become an entitled jerk after having kids, or were people already jerks to begin with? And does social media encourage and enhance this behavior, or simply project who a person really is (both online and offline) by giving parents platforms on which to showcase their supposed superiority?

Kiss My Ass
Image: STFU Parents

My short and subjective answer to this question is that social media has definitely aided annoying parents by overexposing their awfulness. It's created a way for opportunistic people to become slightly more "famous" within their social circles by morphing into caricatures or exaggerated personas that outwardly reflect who they want to be. It's hard to say whether the parents who appear to be trying very hard to get attention on Facebook act the same ways in their real lives as they do in their virtual lives, but I tend to think of their roles on social media as performative. They're putting on a show for their friends, relatives, coworkers and former classmates, and they have no plans of stopping.

More: Can I Ask My Anti-vaccination Sister to Keep Her Kids at Home?

Facebook and Instagram ensure that as long as people keep churning out content, they'll find new ways for them to present it, whether it's by introducing a gallery option (now parents can upload a series of images in a single update), making it easier to upload videos or just creating new emoji responses that encourage users to click more. Researchers say that for every social media fave or like, users are hit with a short blast of dopamine, which feels good and can be somewhat addictive. So as much as it runs contrary for us to click fave or like on content that we don't actually like — for instance, another daily update tracking potty training progress — we do it anyway, as we actively participate in social media's "like currency." This results in convincing parents that their friends want to hear every detail or see every new development related to their kids and parenting. It's a cycle that may never slow down.

Activity
Image: someecards

So with that in mind, I'd bet on more people abandoning Facebook before parents (or any group of oversharers) pull the plug on overexposed content. Facebook and Instagram are currently encouraging more storytelling, and they want users to consistently update and share their stories. For parents who get a kick out of telling the world what amazing thing their kid said, did or sharted that day, this is an alluring invitation. For everyone else, it's just another reason to make use of the hide feature or spend more time offline. It's smarter to assume that sanctimonious parents who post nonstop on social media have found a space in which they're comfortable than to pretend that social media will ever be a place where people don't overshare or put themselves (or their kids) on a pedestal.

Get on track
Image: STFU Parents

The real issue that you're describing, A., is the influence that social media has had on parents' personalities. And I think the entitlement some parents display does have to do with feeling buoyed by their friends and parenting communities online. There's strength in numbers, and that applies to parents' self-righteousness as much as anything else. The more parents see their peers complaining, bragging, oversharing pictures of their water birth, etc., the more justified they feel in doing it too. Social media also allows us to publish our thoughts on anything at any time, which doesn't help when you're a condescending asshole who thinks her rude opinions are valid.

More: Is Giving Unsolicited Advice Online Helpful — or Rude?

Do parents think of their kids more as special snowflakes now than they did 20, 30 or 40 years ago? If I had to take a guess, I'd say, "Hell yes." There's more competitiveness in parenting than there used to be, and social media fuels self-important attitudes. I think of social media's popularity as being concurrent with the rise of double-wide strollers. Sure, strollers always took up space on sidewalks, but now they take up more space. Our voices and opinions were always heard, but now with social media, our voices and opinions are seen and heard by far more people (and in real time!). Advertisers too can make parents feel special, offering them products and solutions and high-tech devices that reassure them that they're a cut above the rest and so are their kids.

Tag your friends
Image: STFU Parents

This combination of child-worship and social media validation is why it feels like "the whole smelly mess [is] up close and personal in your face," A., and you're just one of many people who's had quite enough of the toxic aroma. My advice is to keep doing what you're doing and steer clear of stinky bombs of parental entitlement online because you're still going to come across those double-wide stroller wielders in real life. And if you're anything like me, you'll steer clear of those too.

Eileen Davidson Is Hoping For a RHOBH Reunion on Y&R

Erika Girardi is all over television these days. In addition to her time as a cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, she’s enjoying a stint on Season 24 of Dancing With the Stars. Will a recurring role on The Young and the Restless be next?

More: How The Young and the Restless Wasted Elizabeth Hendrickson’s Return

Soap fans already know that Girardi made her debut on the CBS soap back in December as Farrah Dubose, a high-powered real estate agent who runs into Eileen Davidson’s character, Ashley Abbott, at a coffee shop. The role was a gift from Davidson for Girardi’s 45th birthday with one catch — she had to audition for the role for Y&R producers.

Her turn on the show was a hit and Davidson is angling to get her pal back on Y&R. In a recent TooFab.com interview, Davidson shared her thoughts on getting her RHOBH co-star back to Genoa City.

“As soon as she aired on the show in December, I called upstairs and said I’d love her to come back, but I don’t have that kind of power,” she explained. “They need to make sure it works in.”

More: General Hospital's Carolyn Hennesy Has Some Great Advice for Jennifer Lopez

Davidson wasn’t the only one who thought Girardi did a great job, legendary soap actor Peter Bergman had high praise for her.

“I got a text from Peter Bergman, saying, ‘Your friend Erika was prepared, interesting, interested, so incredibly lovely to work with,’ “ shared Davidson. “And this is from a guy who doesn’t watch The Housewives, doesn’t know from Adam, and he just thought she was terrific.”

That news probably excited Girardi because she’s a fangirl of Bergman’s work.

“And the greatest thing about it – and I was talking to Erika about it yesterday – Peter Bergman was on All My Children, and she was a huge All My Children fan,” summed up Davidson. “He was one of the biggest characters on that show. And she was so nervous about it, basically working with one of her childhood icons, so that’s pretty cool.”

For now, RHOBH fans will have to settle for watching Girardi battle it out for the Mirror Ball Trophy with partner Gleb Savchenko on DWTS. They haven’t been at the top of the leaderboard yet, but she’s still in the fight.

If not, perhaps The Young and the Restless can find a reason for Girardi to stop by Genoa City again.

Those of us who grew up dancing along to "Sweatin' to the Oldies" alongside our moms have been having a real hard time with all the strange news surrounding Simmons in the last few months. He's completely disappeared from the public eye, and those who know him have had some conflicting reports as to why — reasons have ranged from he's just taking a break from being uber famous to he's literally being held hostage by his crazy housekeeper.

Those closest to Simmons have maintained that he's fine and healthy and definitely not being held hostage, but you can't help but wonder, right? I mean, it's weird that he just dropped off the face of the earth so suddenly. What kind of Simmons fan wouldn't have some ~theories~ about this?

But Simmons could make his triumphant return to the spotlight! Page Six reports that he's signed on to collaborate with his longtime manager, Michael Catalano, on a new line of merchandise, and according to Catalano, it's "possible" that Simmons could make some public appearances to promote his new products, though officially, that "is yet to be determined."

We can all only hope now, and dream of the bedazzled athletic wear we've been missing for years.

If you have an albuterol inhaler in your medicine cabinet, then you might want to check out the voluntary recall just issued by the British pharmaceutical company, GlaxoSmithKline.

The drugmaker is recalling more than 590,000 albuterol inhalers because of a “possible risk that the affected inhalers could potentially not deliver the stated number of actuations,” spokesperson Juan Carlos Molina wrote in an email.

More: 10 Struggles Anyone With Allergies Knows Too Well

Three lots of Ventolin HFA 200D inhalers have been voluntarily recalled from hospitals, pharmacies, retailers and wholesalers in the United States. The affected lot numbers include: 6ZP0003, 6ZP9944 and 6ZP9848.

Albuterol is a bronchodilator that relaxes muscles in the airways and increases airflow to the lungs. When functioning properly, the metered-dose inhaler releases a fixed dose of medication in aerosol form. Albuterol inhalation is used to treat or prevent bronchospasm in people with reversible obstructive airway disease. It is also used to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm.

The recall was classified as a class-2 recall, which means "the products might cause a temporary health problem, or pose only a slight threat of a serious nature," according to the Food and Drug Administration.

It’s not a patient-level recall, but people with inhalers that are among the affected lots can contact GSK’s customer service center at 1-888-825-5249. If the devices are not relieving symptoms, patients should seek medical treatment right away.

The Cheap Moisturizer This Victoria’s Secret Model Swears by for Glowing Skin

$

OK, I know — most of the time, a supermodel’s skin care routine involves insanely luxurious and over-the-top products like liquid gold facials and diamond-infused serums, at least according to what we see on Instagram. But, every now and again, one of them throws us mere (equally awesome, though significantly shorter) mortals a bone and admits that their dewy, seemingly perfect complexions are the result of cheap, grocery store-brand products and not frequent trips to the fountain of youth. And the latest model to drop this knowledge on my brain? Victoria’s Secret Angel Stella Maxwell, who swears by Whole Foods products for her smooth-as-hell skin. Yup.

More: You Need to Watch This Beauty Vlogger Apply Makeup With a Hard-Boiled Egg

I recently found myself interviewing the Maxwell at an event for the latest Victoria’s Secret collection release. While rattling off her beauty and fitness routine (these are, of course, the things people want to talk about when you look like Maxwell), she began discussing her face, saying “my skin is quite dry, so I like to use products that are moisturizing,” which, OK, no shock there. But then, just as I expected her to drop the name of some insanely pricey La Mer crème — or a $225 tube of Prevage Daily Serum, perhaps — Maxwell casually mentioned the $19 tube of Weleda Skin Food that she slathers on her skin day and night. And yes, she buys it at Whole Foods.

Sure, I’ve heard of Weleda before, but never in a cult-favorite, oh-my-God-try-this way. Which is a damn shame considering the fact that upon some quick research the face-and-body moisturizer has hundreds of obsessive reviews online from people who swear by the chamomile- and calendula-infused moisturizer for making their skin glow with the light of 1 million moons. Plus, it’s completely natural, using rosemary extract and sweet almond oil to work its nontoxic magic, so it’s safe for even the most natural of beauty lovers.

Weleda Skin Food
Image: Weleda

But lest you think Weleda is the only affordable product Maxwell uses, she also mentioned to me that she keeps Heritage Store Rosewater Spray on hand during the day to offset dryness (“I like to use rose water; like, the mist is really good,” she said of the oil- and alcohol-free formula), as well as double face masking whenever she can, using either a sheet mask with an eye mask, or two sheet masks in a row. “Sometimes, I’ll put the eye mask [on first] and then put a face mask over it,” said Maxwell. “Even before the Vanity Fair [after-party for the Oscars], I did two face masks, putting one on top of another. I just laid on the couch and let it marinate.”

And there you have it — a supermodel’s not-so-secret lineup of skin-saving products. Though we can’t promise you’ll be any closer to looking like a Victoria’s Secret model after trying Maxwell’s Whole Foods buys, we can say that with these kind of prices, you might have enough cash leftover to try a gold facial. Maybe.

The Lykoi Werewolf Cat Is the Answer to the Age-Old Cat vs. Dog Conundrum

If you've been agonizing about whether to get a cat or a dog, all of your problems are now solved — because there is a weird cat-dog hybrid roaming this Earth, and no, we're not kidding. The Lykoi werewolf cat looks like a wolf, acts like a dog, but is really a feline.

This rare breed is adorable — in that "it has a face only a mother could love" type of way — which, of course, is a recipe for us to fall madly in love with it. And for a mere $1,950, you can adopt a Lykoi cat of your own according to the Lykoi Cats website.

Lykoi insta 1

Lykoi insta 1

Because of a unique genetic mutation, these (kinda) furry felines are left looking like their hair is permanently standing on end, which is the reason they've been nicknamed the werewolf cat. Not only do they always look scared, but some Lykoi cats can lose almost all of their hair when shedding and then regrow it as they get older — which is thought to happen because the breed doesn't have an undercoat.

Listen up, dog lovers, because the curious new breed also acts like a canine. They like to play, they're loyal and they won't even plot revenge against you behind your back. The name Lykoi is said to have come from the Greek word for wolf. The Lykoi have an acute prey drive, which means they'll stalk and pounce on anything they think is prey.

And if you're looking for a cuddle buddy, the Lykoi is definitely for you. Lykoi Cats — who claim they are the original breeders of the Lykoi — say the breed are totally heat seekers and even when they are not cold, they are going to look for warm bodies, cozy blankets and warm windows.

Um, the Lykoi cat had us at "hello."

They're all pretty terrible at guessing the songs, but things take a hilarious turn when both teams start reading "Give Your Heart a Break," by Lovato.

"Don't wanna break your heart. Wanna give your heart a break. I know you're scared it's wrong, like you might make a mistake," Winter reads, while McBrayer looks like he has no idea what the song is before guessing that it's by Britney Spears.

Lovato reads, "There's just one life to live, and there's no time to waste, so let me give your heart a break."

Naturally, Manganiello also has no idea what the song is, or that Lovato is reading her own lyrics.

Is It Time to Rethink How We Handle Latex Allergies?

$
0
0

A few weeks ago, an Australian woman almost died at an Adele concert after having a serious allergic reaction to latex powder on balloons dropped on the audience during the show.

Pooja Newman, who went into anaphylactic shock when the balloons were released, told Yahoo News: “I felt my lips swelling and couldn’t breathe, I knew I was in trouble.”

This eye-opening incident raised several questions about latex allergies, including whether more precautions should be taken to prevent future situations like the one in Australia. Is latex the new peanuts — something that should be avoided in public situations?

Here’s what you need to know.

What causes latex allergies?

According to Dr. Purvi Parikh, an allergist with Allergy & Asthma Network, latex allergies are usually caused by repeat exposure to the material.

This can happen in different ways, including working — or spending a lot of time — in medical facilities, as well as frequent use of products containing latex. This includes many types of rubbers, balloons, condoms and several types of plastics, Parikh told SheKnows.

More: What Causes Nasal Allergies?

“The more you’re exposed, you’re at higher risk for developing it too,” she explained. “Incidents of latex allergies [are] much higher in health care workers as opposed to [the] general population.”

Where are some unexpected triggers of latex allergies?

According to Parikh, certain shoes may have latex in the soles. In fact, she has treated a patient who had an allergic reaction to rubber flip-flops. Another common but frequently overlooked cause is adhesives.

Latex allergies are triggered by both contact and inhalation. Some people are so sensitive that breathing it in can trigger a reaction.

What about condoms?

Luckily for those with allergies, there are latex-free condoms on the market. When you’re having the “how will we have safer sex?” conversation with a new partner, it’s a good idea to ask whether they have latex allergies and plan accordingly. If you’re someone with latex allergies, investing in and carrying some latex-free condoms is your best bet.

More: The Best Condoms for Latex-Sensitive Ladies

Are there other latex-free products?

Increased awareness of latex allergies — especially in medical facilities — has resulted in an increase in the use of latex-free products like rubber gloves, Parikh said. Outside of medical facilities, these are also frequently found in hair and nail salons, the restaurant industry and cleaning/maintenance services.

What does a latex allergic reaction look like?

According to Parikh, like any allergic reaction, the symptoms can range from mild to very severe. Mild symptoms can include itching or a rash. More severe symptoms can be full-blown anaphylactic shock. This would look similar to what would happen if someone ate a food they were allergic to — there would likely be a rash in addition to difficulty breathing and loss of consciousness. There are also a range of symptoms in the middle, including sneezing and coughing.

When should you get tested?

If you notice rashes or a more severe reaction around things that contain latex, you should be seen by a doctor and be tested, Parikh said.

Getting tested is important because you should know if it’s a latex you’re reacting to so you know what to avoid and you can be prepared and armed with the appropriate emergency medications, she added.

Are latex allergies the new peanut allergies?

Given the life-threatening reaction the woman at the Adele concert had to balloons raises the question of whether we are at the point of trying to eliminate using latex as part of a public health initiative.

“I don’t know if we’re quite there yet,” Parikh said. “Luckily, latex allergy is a little rarer than peanut allergy and less prevalent. It’s less frequent than accidental ingestion of peanuts. I don’t think, widespread, it needs to be latex-free just yet.”

Most hospitals and medical offices are currently latex-free, she added.

What should you do if you have a latex allergy?

Parikh’s main advice is to try to avoid it as much as possible.

“This is easier to do within your own home or if you know you’re going to a dentist or medical facility where there might be latex,” she said.

In unknown situations where you aren’t sure if you will encounter latex, Parikh suggested bringing along all necessary medications. She also advised people with allergies to speak with their doctor about an emergency action plan and wearing a medic alert bracelet if their allergy is severe.

“If you know you have a latex allergy, be empowered not only to have all the appropriate medication, but be proactive calling places ahead to see what you can avoid, predict and control,” she said. “As much as you can be prepared ahead of time, the better.”

Long Live Prince Harry, Boxing Toddlers and Cute Dogs

We've pretty much had it with our own country. Let's just pretend that the United States is still a wee upstart colony of the British Empire, shall we? La la la we can't hear you, Trump. La la la we belong to the Queen.
OK, who are we kidding? Our hearts totally belong to the Queen's ginger grandson, Prince Harry, who was spotted play-boxing with a toddler with the same name.

This is what we needed to see: nice humans doing good things for the world and hanging with happy toddlers and cute dogs.

Prince Harry was on hand earlier today at the British team trials in Bath, England, for his brainchild, The Invictus Games, taking place this September in Toronto. The Paralympic-style games launched in London and are open to wounded, sick and injured serving and former members of the armed forces. Three hundred people were on hand at the University of Bath to try out for this year's games.
Dan Phillips — who injured his spinal cord in Afghanistan and was medically discharged from his regiment — was one of the 300 and is hoping to take part in archery and shot put events. He was, in his own words, "chuffed to bits" to introduce his son, Harry, to the prince. ("Chuffed to bits" = best phrase ever. Please tell us how to apply for British citizenship immediately.)
“Big Harry was teaching little Harry to box,” Phillips said. “They were high-fiving and boxing... [and] we call our son our Prince Harry!”
According to his little namesake, Harry Phillips, the shorter Harry won the match. When the toddler was asked who'd won, he told reporters, "Me!" We die. We have melted of cuteness. We had a good life. No regrets.
Our favorite ginger prince thanked all the competitors, saying, "This is the Invictus family. Make the most of it, enjoy it. I’d like to see you all there, but the reality is we only have 90 places. But what I do hope is your journey up to this point has been recovery no matter what — and on top of recovery you’re here making friends and sharing stories and experiences you’ll never forget.”
If that still doesn't melt your ice-cold monarchy-rejecting heart, try this on for size: Prince Harry also spent time with former marine and archery competitor Jon Flint and his assistance dog, a black Labrador named Jester. (A court jester! How great is that?)
The dog barked and did a happy dance when Prince Harry greeted him. Good dog, Jester! We would have done the exact same thing. And maybe peed submissively. Just a little.
Seriously, when is Prince Harry going to give us some royal ginger babies? Just marry Meghan Markle and get on it, Harry. We need more adorable royals in our miserable, bad-news-bloated American lives, please.

Is Robyn Brown Really Pregnant and Getting Divorced?

The Sister Wives are just an ever-flowing well of drama, which is probably why they make for such truly great reality TV. They've been plagued with so many rumors lately about their family's impending divorce-pocalypse, and as much as they keep denying it all and tweeting about how happy they are, the headlines keep piling on.

Now, the family is allegedly in total crisis mode because Robyn Brown, Kody Brown's only legal wife, is reportedly pregnant with another one of his children, yet still planning to divorce him as soon as possible.

"Robyn has been planning to divorce him for a long time," Robyn's so-called best friend Kendra Pollard told Life and Style. "Being pregnant has not changed her mind. She’s saved up enough money to retain a lawyer. This is really the end of Sister Wives."

Pollard went on to say that Robyn plans to move back to Utah, where he family will help her get settled while she negotiates a spin-off series.

"Her family has been very supportive," she said. "[They] told her they will look after her during the pregnancy and help her get settled."

Here's the real question that comes out of this report, though: Why are news outlets still quoting Pollard? What is her actual relationship with the Brown family now? We know that she at least used to be a close family friend — she was featured in some episodes of Sister Wives years ago. But she's been quoted spilling supposed family secrets to tabloids for years. Why would the Brown family stay friends with her when she's constantly spreading this information that they claim isn't true?

So either Pollard isn't still friends with the Browns, which would mean information she has about the family is questionable, to say the least. Or, she's still friends with them, which would make it seem like the family is in on all this fake information being released. Pollard has proven to be wrong about the family so many times. Why are we still giving her the time of day?

So, anyway, take this story with a grain of salt. Once divorce papers are actually filed, we'll reassess Pollard as a source of Sister Wives intel.

Burger King's Fruit Loop Shake Is the Latest Frankenfood Mashup You Need to Try

Growing up, I always liked Burger King because its flame-grilled burgers tasted slightly more like real meat than anything from its fast-food competitors. But these days, BK's menu is more like a Ripley's Believe It or Not of crazy food mashups that really shouldn't exist, but taste bizarrely delicious nonetheless. Case in point: Their latest (limited-edition) culinary oddity is a Fruit Loops milkshake.

Other than the fact that I think their head of product innovation is probably a sugar-crazed 7-year-old, the shake actually does sound pretty good. It features vanilla soft-serve, pieces of Fruit Loops cereal and a fruity sauce, of course, to give it that extra hit of synthetic fruit flavor.

Milkshakes seems to be getting crazier and crazier with each passing year (never forget Wayback Burgers' line of cricket and jerky protein milkshakes, shudder), but Burger King isn't the first to add cereal to the mix. Carl's Jr had a slightly less appetizing Cap'n Crunch shake a few years ago.

Considering the Fruit Loops shake comes after menu mashups like Mac n' Cheetos and Spicy Chicken Fries, it makes me wonder what's next for Burger King — hot dog onion rings? Breakfast sandwich soft-serve? But still, weirdness aside, I must admit I'm intrigued.
