Light the Night Walk

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is always looking for ways to say goodbye to blood cancers forever. Light the Night is a walk to bring hope to people who are battling blood cancer. So it's time to get outside, enjoy the beautiful outdoors and help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society beat these fatal illnesses.

Light the Night walk

What it is

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society strives to help blood cancer patients live longer, better lives. They are committed to finding a cure for all types of blood cancers, including: leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. Thanks to its major fundraising campaigns, Team in Training and Light the Night Walk, LLS has raised more than $750 million in research funding since 1954. This dedication to advancing cancer treatment has led to a five-year survival rate for people with leukemia that has nearly quadrupled since the conception of the organization, and Hodgkin’s lymphoma is now recognized as one of the most curable forms of cancer.

Why it was founded

In 1949, Rudolph and Antoinette de Villiers, parents of a leukemia patient, started the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society five years after their son, Robert, succumbed to leukemia. Frustrated by the lack of treatments for the disease that took their son, the grieving parents started the Robert Roessler de Villiers Foundation to help improve fundraising and education for leukemia with the hope that someday no parent will have to face the tragedy of losing a child to blood cancer.

How it is making a difference

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has witnessed immense progress in the fight against blood cancers in the many years since its conception. The society saw the first successful bone marrow transplant in the 1970s and has supported progress in the drugs used to treat leukemia and lymphoma, as well as developing an understanding about what causes these diseases and how to prevent them before they attack the body.

Light the Night

Light the Night Walk involves communities coming together across the United States and Canada to raise funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to continue its success. Each event is an inspiring, leisurely evening walk in which walkers carry illuminated balloons: white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of a loved one lost to cancer. These communities of walkers gather together on this special night to bring hope and light to the darkness of cancer.

Sign up for a walk and learn more about the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society here.

Cooking can be a challenge if you have a small kitchen. Between counter space and storage, you can only buy the appliances you need. We've got the scoop on the most useful gadgets you can own.

Make the most of your kitchen space

Cooking can be a challenge if you have a small kitchen. Between counter space and storage, you can only buy the appliances you need. We've got the scoop on the most useful gadgets you can own.

Whether you live in an apartment or a smaller house, it's hard to want to spend a lot of time cooking if your lack of space is going to make everything a pain. Get excited about cooking again by leveraging your space with these clever gadgets for small kitchens.

5 cooking gadgets for a small kitchen

1

KitchenAid Stand Mixer

Many cooks with small kitchens think they can't have a stand mixer. Not true. In fact, that's the one appliance you need. KitchenAid makes a variety of attachments that can turn your KitchenAid Stand Mixer into just about any device you need. It can grind meat, squeeze fresh juice, make purees, slice fruits and veggies into perfectly uniform shapes, grate cheese — using just the flat beater , you can even use it to make shakes!

The attachments will take up some space, but you can fit most of the more awkward attachments on a single shelf in your cabinet . For the mixing attachments, you can hang those either behind your mixer or in a cabinet on tiny hooks installed easily with a screwdriver . Or, you can buy the MixerMaid

2

George Foreman 5 Serving Multi Plate Grill

The best way to save space in a small kitchen is to have gadgets that serve more than one purpose, and this grill from George Foreman is a multitasking champ. It comes with two grill plates, a deep dish bake pan and a muffin/bake pan . You can purchase up to seven additional plates to customize it to your needs.

3

Ninja Kitchen System

The Ninja Kitchen System is a less-expensive and lighter-weight alternative to the KitchenAid. It can do almost everything the stand mixer can do, but it's lightweight enough to be stored under the counter and pulled out when necessary. It also has quite a few attachments .

The quality isn't quite as high as the KitchenAid, but it's still well reviewed. It's also likely to take up more than one shelf in your cabinet because it requires the additional canisters for certain types of work. But it's a great buy for cooks who value countertop space over storage space.

4

George Foreman Smart Kitchen 30-Cup Multicooker

This workhorse functions as a slow-cooker, rice maker and steamer and does all tasks well. The 30-cup pot is a big advantage whether you're cooking for a large family or just want to make up a batch of your famous chili and freeze the leftovers for a quick meal later in the month.

The steaming tray allows you to steam veggies or meats while cooking rice or making other recipes that contain liquid below. The steamer also works well to steam dumplings , tamales and other foods, though it's a bit small to do large batches.

In addition to multiple heat settings that give you a lot of control, it also has a one-touch sear setting , has a nonstick coating and features a tempered glass lid with an adjustable steam vent. Better yet, most of the parts are dishwasher-safe, and it takes up about as much space as a large saucepot when stored.

5

Kitchoo Collections

Sometimes, the best solution to a small kitchen is to just give yourself more space. If a remodel is out of the question for you, check out these clever stand-alone kitchen designs from Kitchoo. The features vary based on the model you choose, but you can get your Kitchoo with anything from a sink, dishwasher, drawers and cabinets, burners, a microwave grill and more in a variety of colors. When it's not in use, it can be folded up and packed away so it's dual purpose is barely noticeable.

The Kitchoo isn't yet available in the U.S., but they're working on it and plan to have availability in the states soon. Stay tuned to their blog or social media pages to get the news the minute it breaks!

Mindy McCready's final heartbreak: Losing her kids

Mindy McCready faced losing her kids again before deciding to end her life, but her ex says if her sons were with her that day they'd be dead too.

Mindy McCready

Mindy McCready was driven to suicide by court papers saying she could lose custody of her two sons, according to a friend of the fallen country star.

Private investigator Danno Hanks told People he received an email from McCready that read, "The most important thing are [sic] my babies must come home."

"She lost all hope," Hanks told the mag.

He also revealed that McCready had emailed him a suicide prevention video she put together, featuring rural images interspersed with photos of herself and boyfriend David Wilson, who killed himself last month.

"She said she wanted to put together this video to help people deal when someone had suffered a suicide in their life and God," he said. "I asked her if I could post it and Mindy's answer was, 'You'll know when it's right.'"

Mindy McCready committed in wake of boyfriend's suicide>>

McCready was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head on the front porch of the home she shared with Wilson, who shot himself in the bedroom of the same home last month. She also shot and killed her dog, and the father of her oldest child said he is positive that if the boys had been with her, she'd have killed them too.

"Just look at what she did and how she did it," McCready's former fiancé Billy McKnight told the National Enquirer. "She killed the dog before she killed herself and I fear she would have taken those kids with her too if they had been there."

Justin Timberlake delivered a stellar performance at the Brit Awards Wednesday with One Direction offering a glimpse of boy bands past.

One Direction at the BRIT Awards

The Brit Awards secured two of the hottest pop acts around these days: One Direction and Justin Timberlake performed Wednesday night in London at the annual music award show.

One Direction — or 1D as they are commonly called — was up for Best British Group while Justin Timberlake was of course only performing at the Brit Awards.

Watch: Justin Timberlake releases video for "Suit & Tie">>

Timberlake performed his latest single, "Mirrors," at the 2013 Brit Awards. MTV News reports Timberlake's Brit Awards performance included a cool beginning with Justin standing just "beneath a spotlight" and then working his way up to a climactic ending complete with a dramatic light show and Timberlake singing in the rafters.

One Direction's Brit Awards performance was also a delight for fans. The young boy band — whose band members' ages range from 19 years old to 22 years old — performed "One Way or Another," a cover of American band Blondie's 1979 hit. Hollywood Life described One Direction's Brit Awards performance as filled to the brim with "boyhood energy."

One Direction's next venue: your mouth>>

While One Direction's career seems to grow hotter with each new single, Justin Timberlake is already a musical icon. Timberlake wasted no time giving eager fans a glimpse of his reinvented musical style that clearly shows just how Timberlake has evolved and matured over these past few years.

In a way, One Direction represents a look back in time at Justin Timberlake when he too was the member of new and increasingly successful boy band *NSYNC. .

Trump threatens suit over wicked-popular Dump Trump

Donald Trump is threatening to sue the man behind the Dump Trump petition, which strongly urges Macy's to cut ties with the Celebrity Apprentice star. In a seething letter, the billionaire's legal team names the amount they believe is owed in damages.

Donald Trump and family

Another day, another threat of a lawsuit from Donald Trump. The 66-year-old, who can prove he's not part orangutan, is now taking aim at the creator of an online petition that urges retail chain Macy's to cut ties with the Celebrity Apprentice star.

While the petition has become wildly popular, with over 685,000 people having added their names to the list, it's also caught the attention of the billionaire mogul and his legal team. Alan Garten, Donald Trump's attorney, has sent a letter to Angelo Carusone, the person responsible for starting the Dump Trump petition at SignOn.org.

Trump will sue Carusone for damages "not less than $25,000,000" if he continues his campaign.

Dump Trump petition gets a big-name celebrity backer>>

"While you claim to be merely exercising your right to free speech, your egregious, pre-meditated and illegal conduct far exceeds anything protected by the Constitution," a letter from Donald Trump's attorney, dated Dec. 27, reads.

"Rather than simply engage in lawful protest, you have apparently made it your mission to interfere with and intentionally disrupt Mr. Trump's longstanding and well-established business relationship with Macy's as well as his contractual dealings with other third parties through mob-like bullying and coercion."

In a statement, Dump Trump petition creator Angelo Carusone responded to the suit threat by saying, "Donald Trump's attempt to silence me will not work. I've dealt with enough bullies and know better than to succumb to intimidation. By threatening me, Trump is only reinforcing the point that we've been trying to get Macy's to recognize: that Trump's brand is consequence-free bullying and chicanery; it shouldn't be rewarded."

Donald Trump: No regrets, no fear of Dump Trump petition>>

Taking the feud to Twitter Wednesday, Donald Trump attacked Carusone, tweeting, "My ties & shirts at Macy’s are doing great. Stupid @GoAngelo is making people aware of how good they are!"

Contradicting his lawyer's claims that damages were done, the curiously coiffed man pictured above with wife Melania and son Barron in January added, "Looks like a lawsuit against GoAngelo won’t work—my ties & shirts doing too well at Macy’s--he's actually helping. I have no damages!"

Do you think Donald Trump is right to sue over the Dump Trump petition?

Arrow is beefing up its cast. Emily Bett Rickards has gone from recurring guest star to series regular. Her character, Felicity, is joining the good fight against the criminals of Starling City.

Arrow

Tonight, Arrow returns with a new episode — and a new team member. Felicity Smoak has joined forces with Oliver Queen   and his partner John Diggle .

New Arrow trailer: Oliver faces the grim reaper?>>

Felicity's a tech genius who works for Oliver's family, at Queen Consolidated. Now that she's been brought into the vigilante fold, how will she fit in with the group?

In an interview with TV Guide, Emily Bett Rickards explained, "Her role now is to help them solve different crimes in Starling City as well as creating a different balance to the group that the audience, and Olivier and Diggle, will enjoy as well."

Some fans want Felicity and Oliver to be more than just friends. They've even come up with a combo name for the nonexistent couple.

"Yes, Olicity, I think it is," Rickards said. "[Laughs] It's hard to say if there's going to be a love interest/crush/relationship, but the relationship definitely starts to change. Oliver has a lot of walls, but with the biggest wall down and that secret out there — even though he still has secrets from everyone — it allows Felicity to see Oliver more clearly."

Teen Wolf star targeted for Arrow's sidekick>>

This week's "The Dodger" episode will show us a different side of Felicity. She'll dress to the nines at a high-class event to help Oliver catch a thief. We'll also meet another character from the Green Arrow comic — Roy Harper aka Speedy.

Elizabeth Taylor's jewels have female stars drooling

Jewelry from the collection of the late Elizabeth Taylor brought stars flocking to the Bulgari event in Beverly Hills Tuesday night. Check out Julianne Moore modeling a $6.1 million piece below!

Julianne Moore

Elizabeth Taylor's jewels have the rich and famous making their way to Bulgari's Beverly Hills location. There, eight pieces from the late star's collection are currently on display.

Julianne Moore had the honor of wearing the $6.1 million emerald-and-diamond Bulgari creation seen here, which was given to Elizabeth Taylor as a wedding gift from Richard Burton in 1964.

The 52-year-old Moore, who earned our nod for best dressed at the Golden Globes, is the first person to wear the piece since Elizabeth Taylor herself! Taylor died in 2011 at age 79 of congestive heart failure.

Did sticky-fingered Lindsay steal Liz Taylor's bracelet?>>

New mom Drew Barrymore also attended the Bulgari event and gushed to reporters about Elizabeth Taylor: "Well, I think it's amazing to see what she personally, and Richard Burton, created for their lives. I think it's about seeing a moment where they responded to something and purchased it. I'm so curious as to what made their pupils dilate."

Kirsten Dunst added with a laugh, "Richard Burton really got [Elizabeth Taylor] some beautiful jewelry, so she has good taste in men, that's for sure!"

$127,000 in jewelry goes missing from Julianne Moore's home>>

After rubbing elbows with the rich and famous, as well as setting eyes on the collection herself, Dina Gachman noted for Forbes, "The jewels aren't for sale, which is kind of nice. If you love Elizabeth Taylor it's not about how much they cost; it's about remembering how completely fabulous she was. Talented, outspoken, gutsy, and, of course, breathtaking."

Are you envious of those who are seeing Elizabeth Taylor's prized jewels?

America's Got Talent: A Spice Girl's moving in

America's Got Talent lost one Brit — and gained another. Spice Girl Melanie Brown is slated to replace Sharon Osbourne on the NBC competition. Wednesday, the network confirmed her addition to the show.

Melanie Brown

Last summer, Sharon Osbourne announced she was leaving America's Got Talent. Her departure was retaliation against NBC for its treatment of her son Jack, who was set to appear on the reality show Stars Earn Stripes.

Jack Osbourne to NBC: You're full of "bull-f---ng-s--t!">>

The younger Osbourne was recently diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and as a safety precaution, the network rescinded his invitation.

Sharon Osbourne: The real reason I quit America's Got Talent>>

The UK Daily Mail is reporting that Melanie Brown, aka Mel B. from the Spice Girls, is joining the judges' table. According to the newspaper's sources, Brown is a favorite of America's Got Talent creator Simon Cowell.

"Simon loves trying people out on his shows, Mel's already been a judge on X Factor Australia and it's too far for her to keep taking the kids. She did want to do X Factor UK, but Simon really wanted her to do America's Got Talent."

Apparently, Brown has the personality and résumé Cowell's looking for. Her no-holds-barred approach will fit in perfectly with fellow judges Howie Mandel and Howard Stern.

Howard Stern feels devilish on America's Got Talent>>

After months of rumors, NBC has confirmed what we all suspected.

In a statement, NBC president of alternative and late-night programming Paul Telegdy said, "To know her is to know a very frank, strong, enduring entertainer. Someone who has a very strong point of view. We needed somebody who was qualified for the job. She's an amazing singer, dancer and a huge personality. The contestants will get a lot of constructive feedback from her and I can't wait to see her chemistry with Howard and Howie."

Brown may not be the only newcomer. EW claims NBC may hire a fourth judge for the competition.

"The right person has to show their hand," Telegdy said.

Stay tuned!

James Brolin on his Community debut as Papa Winger

Daddy's home! Community's delving into Jeff's dysfunctional family. With the help of James Brolin, father and son will put it all on the table. But don't expect it to be a conventional confrontation.

James Brolin

Jeff Winger is finally dealing with his daddy issues. This week, he'll confront his absentee father, William, as played by James Brolin. The veteran actor jumped at the chance to exercise his funny bone on the NBC series.

On the outside, Jeff is a narcissistic mess. He has moments of kindness, but they're few and far between. What comes across as cold, however, is just a defense mechanism he developed as a young child. When his father left his family, Jeff cut off his emotions.

Community recap: Haunted family reunion>>

This season, Community will tackle his family troubles head-on. Brolin will appear as the dad Jeff barely knew, and their reunion is odd to say the least.

According to Brolin , "The father tries but I just don't think he fits in a lot of places. And a lot of his answers are from left field. I loved every bit of dialogue that they had written. Every once in awhile there's something kind of delicious and fun for an actor who's done a lot of things, and this is one of them.

"From the moment he opens the front door, whatever he says is just off," Brolin continues. "And when Jeff says something and he answers, it's just not on the same track at all. There's probably something very sad about this, but there's something very funny and recognizable about it... Good comedy is about real stuff."

It's about time! NBC's Communityreturns tonight>>

Brolin has a thing for playing estranged fathers. He also appears on ABC's Castle as the title character's dad.

Community airs Thursdays at 8/7c on NBC.

Shia LaBeouf exits Broadway play, goes public on Twitter

$

Shia LaBeouf was set to make his Broadway debut in the play Orphans, but creative differences with… someone have him ranting on Twitter.

Shia LaBeouf at a movie premiere

Shia LaBeouf has exited the Broadway play Orphans, though whether he was fired for his performance or quit over feuds with co-star Alec Baldwin is unclear.

The play is scheduled for previews the week of March 19; producers announced to the Associated Press that LaBeouf dropped out due to "creative differences."

Just what those differences are is tough to say; LaBeouf certainly muddied the waters with a series of Twitter posts last night in which he revealed private emails between he and Baldwin and other Orphans insiders.

LaBeouf posted an email exchange between he and Orphans director Dan Sullivan in which the director said, "I'm too old for disagreeable situations. [Y]ou're one hell of a great actor. Alec is who he is. [Y]ou are who you are. [Y]ou two are incompatible. [T]his one will haunt me."

Tina Fey hints at Mean Girls musical with Mariah Carey>>

Reading between the lines, it sounds like Baldwin and LaBeouf are fighting about… something? Who can tell? That was one heck of a diplomatic response, particularly if you take a look at LaBeouf's side of the email conversation: It's a long, weird series of statements about what a man is and does . Um, what are you talking about, Shia? What? "A man knows his tools and how to use them." Hmm, speaking of tools.

Where were we? Oh yes, Shia LaBeouf.

He also posted an email exchange between himself and Alec Baldwin in which he starts up the man-statements again: "A man can tell you he was wrong … He can apologize, even if sometimes it's just to put an end to the bickering."

Baldwin responded, in part: "I don't have an unkind word to say about you. You have my word."

The New York Times has it that LaBeouf didn't leave on his own steam: Producers elected to replace the actor because they weren't into his "performance choices."

So which one is it? Was he arguing with Baldwin or doing bad acting? Neither? Both? LaBeouf didn't clear things up much with a series of odd posts following the posting of the private emails in which he opined about acting and the theater, such as: "actors used to be buried with a stake through the heart. those peoples performances so troubled on-lookers that they feared their ghosts." Also: "the theater belongs not to the great but to the brash. acting is not for gentlemen, or bureaucratic-academics. what they do is antiart."

Uh… huh. Just gonna leave that there.

What do you think? Is LaBeouf wrong to reveal private emails publicly? Does it sound like he got a bad rap? He's known for some pretty far-out statements and behavior— is this more of the same?

Whether your best china is from a yard sale or an expensive item you received for your wedding, pull out your best. Even if it is melamine, using your favorite plates will make your dinner look and feel special.

Check out these tips to set a beautiful table>>

Music sets the mood

The music playing for your date night does not have to be bom-chicka-wah-wah type music. If country music is your thing, put on your favorite country playlist. Or maybe you prefer Carbon Leaf or Mumford and Sons? Whatever your favorite music is, just play it. Often at restaurants, between the hustle and bustle of food being served and the people who are dining with you, you cannot even hear the "soft" music playing. When you set the mood with your favorite music, dinner conversation will be much more comfortable and the evening will just "dance" on, so to speak.

Pick your menu

When you have a date, the meal can be quite pricey. Considering your budget, you can still splurge and not break the bank. You can still have a seafood or pork tenderloin meal, but when you make it yourself, you will have leftovers! Flip through your local grocery store's sale ad to see what great items are on sale. Plan your menu around that. For example, if chicken thighs are $1.69 a pound, you might want to make a meal around chicken thighs. Or if scallops are on sale, perhaps a pan seared scallop starter is a great way to kick off the date.

Think outside the box

Get creative! Do you both love malbec or riesling wine? Pick up a couple of boxes of wine instead of bottles. A box of wine is usually the equivalent of four bottles, so you certainly get more for your money, and it stays good for four weeks after opening. At most restaurants, a glass of wine is about $10. If the two of you each have only one glass, that is $20 for just two glasses of wine! You can have four bottles for the price of two glasses, so date night in just keeps getting better and better when you think outside the box, by buying the box!

Don't forget the sweet ending

Dessert is the best part of the meal. Plan something yummy, but remember yummy does not have to mean extravagant. Homemade whipped cream and berries are a sweet treat, and you can feed each other with your hands. Regardless of what you serve for dessert, save room for "later." No one feels like hanky-panky when they have had too much to eat. Let your meal settle while the two of you enjoy another glass of wine, your favorite music and your dreams for the future.

Josh Brolin and Diane Lane split: What happened?

Oscar-nominated power couple Josh Brolin and Diane Lane have announced their split after eight years of marriage.

Diane Lane & Josh Brolin

Less than two months after actor Josh Brolin was arrested for public intoxication, he and wife Diane Lane have announced they are splitting up.

A rep for the couple confirmed the news to Us Weekly, saying, "Diane Lane and Josh Brolin have decided to end their marriage," adding that they have been separated for a couple of months — the timing of which seems to coincide with Brolin's arrest.

What happened? No one's talking yet, but an insider told the mag there's no big drama. "It was a mutual decision," the source said. "It is very amicable. It's not ugly, it's just over."

But fans might find it hard to believe that it's not ugly. In addition to the recent alcohol arrest, Brolin was cuffed for spousal battery just four months after the couple's wedding following "a misunderstanding at home," his rep told People in 2004. Lane did not press charges and the case was dropped.

This will be the second divorce for both stars. Brolin was previously married to actress Alice Adair with whom he has two children, Trevor, 24 and Eden, 18. Lane wed actor Christopher Lambert in 1988; the couple split in 1994. After being introduced by his stepmother Barbra Streisand at a 2002 party, Brolin and Lane wed in 2004 at the actor's central California ranch.

The news puts a damper on Oscars weekend as both actors have been honored with nominations in the past: Brolin nabbed a Best Supporting Actor nom for 2008's Milk and Lane for Best Actress for 2002's Unfaithful. Keep an eagle eye on the red carpet to see if either shows up to this weekend's festivities.

How the Oscars is trying to improve its cool factor

Not yet, but he’s sure pulling out all the stops this year in an attempt to be cool. Oscar has stumbled onto a cold reality — his celebrity-studded celebration of Hollywood’s finest accomplishments translates into a real snooze-fest for the public. But not this year. Here are a few ways Oscar is bringing his"A game" to the 85th Academy Awards...

Oscar statue

Seth MacFarlane

Is Seth MacFarlane the coolest, most unassuming guy in Hollywood? Pretty much. He's the mastermind behind Family Guy and Ted and is nominated for an Oscar for best song, making him the first Oscar host to be in Oscar contention. Known for his inappropriate, envelope-pushing humor, Seth is certain to serve up a little edge at the Oscars. And this is Hollywood, so talk about a room of material at Seth's disposal! Will Oscar's attempt to bring in a younger and hipper crowd pay off? Oscar is counting on us to tune in and find out.

Cue the ladies

Oscar, you sly dog you! This year, four Oscar-winning actresses are confirmed to present — Halle Berry, Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock and Reese Witherspoon. With all these beauties, who will be the beast? John Travolta, while not beastly per se, has been shrouded in tales of impropriety for several months. Seems Oscar may be testing the tried-and-true formula for tabloid TV — sex and scandal.

Oscars? There's an app for that

Look who's getting all techie at 85! For the first time, the Academy Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood to bring the audience and viewers the best audio experience possible. On top of that, not only can members of the Academy vote electronically this year, but there is also an app for Oscar die-hards! An electronic "back-stage pass," the official Oscars app gives you all the inside scoops on nominees, and it allows you to cast a vote for your personal faves. You can even stalk your favorite stars from the red carpet, to the stage, to behind the scenes on Hollywood’s biggest night!

Roadtrip!

Oscar isn't done making history. In another Oscar first, the "Oscar Roadtrip" kicked off in New York City Feb. 4 and will be visiting cities in a cross-country tour to reach Hollywood by the night of the Oscars, Feb. 24.

"We created the Oscar Roadtrip to bring the magic and fun of the Oscar ceremony to movie fans across the country," said Josh Spector, managing director of digital media and marketing for the Academy. "The Oscar Roadtrip makes it possible to share the once-in-a-lifetime thrill that only comes from holding an Oscar statuette."

We can see the Facebook frenzy now! Well played, Oscar, well played.

Parks and Rec prepares for Leslie and Ben's vows

Parks and Recreation is planning a double feature. Thursday night, we'll get an hour of laughs that includes Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt's wedding. It's been a long time coming.

Parks and Recreation

Love is in the air on Parks and Recreation. The NBC comedy is taking the plunge with Leslie and Ben . The dynamic duo of Pawnee will soon make it official. Tonight, they'll say those magic words: "I do."

Parks and Recreation sneak peek: Two "parties">>

It took several seasons to get the happy couple to this point. But in true Parks and Rec fashion, don't expect the wedding to go smoothly. After all, the impromptu ceremony will be a collaboration within the Parks department.

Parks and Recreation men: The Department of Sexy>>

"There are a lot of details about the wedding, [and] everybody has a job to fill,” says showrunner Mike Schur . “Part of the fun of the episode is that — since the wedding was originally planned for May, but at the black-tie gala they decided to do it that night — they basically have two hours to put it together. So, there’s a part for everybody to play.”

Everything happens on the fly, and they'll need someone to perform the ceremony. That's where Tom comes in.

Schur explains, “Tom becomes the officiant and has to get ordained online in an hour. And Donna [Retta] plays a role in that we’re, for the first time, going to feature her beautiful and professionally trained singing voice.”

Marriage is a big deal, but don't expect it to dramatically change the show. Parks and Rec prides itself on having multidimensional characters.

“They’re both committed — not only to each other, but to their careers and their friends and to living a full life," Schur reveals. "Maybe there’s a trap you can fall into if you have to tell the story repeatedly about their relationship, but we don’t have that problem.”

Parks and Recreation airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on NBC.

Are you excited for the couple's big day?

Howard Stern slams Clive Davis

Howard Stern jumped in to defend Kelly Clarkson after Clive Davis made certain allegations in his new memoir. The American Idol star says his account is filled with "misinformation."

HowardSternslamsCliveDavis

It looks like the he said, she said fight is going to continue a bit longer now that Howard Stern has jumped into the fray. On Wednesday, Stern decided to show his support for Kelly Clarkson in her battle against Clive Davis' comments in his new book.

The memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, not only includes the music mogul's admission that he is bisexual, but it includes his account of a crying incident in his office over the song "Since You've Been Gone."

Davis believes he was the one who pushed for the hit song on her album, My December, while Clarkson maintains the sobbing was over another big song "Because of You" when Davis dismissed her as a "sh**ty writer."

After Clarkson took to her WhoSay account to clear up the confusion, Davis spoke to the L.A. Times to defend her allegations.

Kelly Clarkson is totally chill about her upcoming wedding>>

He told the paper, “In the book, I provide an in-depth look at our years together during which we shared major multi-platinum success, as well as a few creative differences. I am truly very sorry that she has decided to take issue with what I know to be an accurate depiction of our time together.”

Now, to add more spice to the pot, comes shock-jock Stern who tore apart the 80-year-old executive. On his SiriusXM radio show, he said, “It sickens me when management guys like to set the record straight about how f**king creative they are and what geniuses they are.”

Of course, Stern wasn't done; he continued with, “This guy is trying to diminish what she does? Doesn’t he have enough in life, can’t he tell his story without f**king degrading her?”

Kelly Clarkson's wedding theme: earthy>>

Well, it seems that Stern knows a bit from experience since creative types are always clashing with executives over personal projects and freedom of expression. It is Stern's own freedom of speech that landed him the deal with SiriusXM satellite radio after years in terrestrial radio.

The America's Got Talent judge even supports Clarkson's talent as someone with an "amazing voice" who has "worked hard to get to where she is."

Hopefully, this is the last word on the subject matter and Clarkson and Davis can go back to a peaceful and successful music partnership.

Laura Bush: Gay marriage ad doesn't have my blessing

Laura Bush may have previously spoken out in favor of gay marriage, but apparently that doesn't mean you can quote her on it! The former First Lady wants out of a new pro-gay marriage ad.

Laura Bush

Laura Bush's gay marriage quotes are causing a stir. Not because of their content, but because the former First Lady and Spoken from the Heart author did not give permission for what she said previously to be used in a new ad.

The Respect for Marriage Coalition caught soon-to-be-grandma Laura Bush off guard by using a quote from her that dates back to a 2010 conversation with Larry King, in which she said, "When couples are committed to each other and love each other then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has."

Christian Carrie Underwood supports gay marriage>>

After word reached the 66-year-old that she's appearing in a new pro-gay marriage advertisement, a spokesperson had this to say:

"Mrs. Bush did not approve of her inclusion in this advertisement nor is she associated in any way with the group that made the ad. When she became aware of the advertisement Tuesday night, we requested that the group remove her from it."

So far, it does not appear the group has any plans to take the ad down, but rather plans to spend $1 million to air the spot nationally as well as run print ads in major newspapers.

"We used public comments for this ad from American leaders who have expressed support for civil marriage," a statement from the Respect for Marriage Coalition reads. "We appreciate Mrs. Bush's previous comments but are sorry she didn't want to be included in an ad. The ad launched a public education campaign that will now move to new and different voices that reflect the depth and breadth of our support."

Eastwood's gay marriage mantra: "Leave everybody alone">>

Interestingly, the gay marriage ad also features a clip of former Secretary of State Colin Powell voicing his support for same-sex marriage rights. Yahoo News notes that a spokeswoman for Powell stated they were not asked for permission either, but that "his remarks are in the public domain and we have not asked them to remove it."

Do you think the new ad had the right to use Laura Bush's gay marriage support quote?
