200 little dog names that don't skimp on personality

$

Long gone are the days of naming your petite pup something predictable like Tiny or Peewee — how about a standout name like Thumper, Webster or Clementine instead?

The best part of naming a small dog is the multitude of choices. You can base your pup's name on small things, things that sound small, words for small or small things in foreign languages... you can even go nuts and make up impressive-sounding but completely ridiculous names. Sky's the limit.

The important thing is to take your time and choose a name that really suits your little munchkin (which isn't on this list but would still make a cute name). Got a new puppy? Test out a few different ones until you find just the right fit for your new pup's personality.

How to be a better mom: Vacation without your kids

$

0

Last month, I went to Majorca without my children. Just me and nine other women. A beachfront hotel with a rooftop terrace. No kids. No sand in our rosé wine. No tantrums interrupting our siestas. For four glorious days, I didn't once step on a LEGO brick or have to pin a small person down to brush their hair.

More: My ex and I vacation together to make our kids happy

I'm aware that not everybody can afford to go on vacation to Majorca, with or without their kids. (FYI, I live in the U.K., so it's not exactly jet-setting travel; I'm certainly not lucky enough to be able to jet off to Hawaii whenever I need a break from motherhood.) But I'm grateful that I'm in a position to be able to do that — not on a regular basis by any means, but often enough to let me feel like I've really been able to relax and recharge, entirely removed from the family home.

I used to feel guilty for leaving my kids behind for a few days, but looking back, I can see that was just wrapped up in the overall guilt that all single parents experience. I had already split my kids' family unit in two, and now I was waving goodbye to them as I hotfooted it off on a city break? But still, I went, and that first time was tough. It was much, much tougher than simply dropping them at their dad's place for a couple of nights and returning to my own home, which may have been a break from my children, but was by no means a vacation. I did housework. I did paperwork. I sorted laundry and prepared meals for the following week. Typically, in those early days, there was also a fair amount of sitting around drinking wine and beating myself up over my decision to become a single parent while I scrolled through 10 million photos of my kids on my phone. I may have cried a little — or a lot. When the kids came back to me on Sunday evening, my house was spotless, but my stress levels were through the roof and I had a killer hangover to boot. Relaxed and refreshed? Not so much.

Over time, I realized that spending my weekends in this way was doing none of us any good. So I vowed to keep my wine intake to a minimum and do at least one thing every weekend that I couldn't easily do when the kids were in my care. A long run. A long lie. A trip to the cinema to see a movie that didn't feature animated fish. And, eventually, the occasional trip away.

Some might say it's selfish to go on vacation without your kids. I say the complete opposite. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it's necessary.

More: Halloween is for kids, so stop trying to scare the crap out of them

I appreciate my kids even more when I come back to them, and I'm pretty sure the feeling is mutual. As a single mother, I have a pretty intense relationship with my kids. I'm their primary caregiver, and neither of them is old enough to really remember what it was like when we were a family of four instead of three. I probably do overcompensate for this, primarily in affection and attention — and yes, sometimes in new LEGOs — which means time apart from them can be more of a wrench for all of us.

My longest trip away from my kids was when I visited my friend in Vietnam. My son was only 5 years old; my daughter merely 2. I was enormously apprehensive about traveling over 5,000 miles to leave them in the care of their father and grandparents for an entire week. I missed them terribly — of course I did. But I can't deny the feeling of complete freedom I had, pretty much as soon as I took my seat on the plane. For starters, air travel without children is wonderful after five years of flights with at least one squirmy, hungry, overtired tot in tow. I napped. I watch a movie without a single interruption. I ordered more than one alcoholic drink. I appreciated every single second of alone time on that 13-hour flight, and I can say the same for the rest of the trip.

There's something about being away from my kids in this way — as in another city, another country or even another continent — that has a way of reinforcing the bond between us. In this case, absence really does make the heart grow fonder. I miss them so much it's actually a physical sensation in or somewhere very close to my heart. But I also treasure my time away from them, knowing I'll go back to them more than ready to pick up the parenting reins again.

The best part of all? My kids are always fine when I'm away, which tells me that despite any lingering single-parent guilt, I'm doing a pretty good job of bringing them up to be happy, secure, independent young people.

Rihanna's current relationship status: Bye, Drake, hello... Chris Brown?

Rihanna and Drake have broken our hearts with their split (we seriously thought their relationship was going to work out this time around), but it turns out one person is pretty happy about the breakup — and that person is reportedly Chris Brown.

More: Rihanna is finally expressing her love for Drake & it's about damn time

Referring to Rihanna and Brown's breakup in 2009 as "ugly" would be an understatement, so it would be a controversial move if Rihanna decided to take him back. But apparently that hasn't stopped Brown from pulling out all the moves: According to a HollywoodLife source, Brown has been "going after Rihanna again, hard.

"He just had his assistant send a ton of stuff to her in Barbados for her and her family," the source continued. "He sent booze, flowers, a bunch of toys for all the kids — he knows the way to her heart is through her family."

But that's not all. Apparently Brown took his gifts one step further by handcrafting something for Rihanna. "Plus he did some painting for her — he had it all covered up, but it was something he did himself," the source explained. "He's saying he's going to get her back, that they belong together and stuff. He definitely sees this breakup from Drake as his opportunity."

More: Wait, that's not Rihanna leaving the Biebs' party with Leonardo DiCaprio

Would Rihanna really go back to Brown? Well, if her recent Instagram post is anything to go by, she doesn't seem big on getting back with any of her ex-boyfriends.

5 celebs Joe Jonas channels in DNCE's new music video 'Body Moves'

NSFW alert! And we're not just talking about his band's new music video. His AMA got pretty, uh, revealing too.

During the Reddit AMA, Jonas was asked if he's bigger than his brothers. His answer? "I like to think so. Although, it's not often that I’m in a locker room or shower with my brothers, so I couldn't really tell you. But, I'd like the internet to believe that I’m still killin’ it."

We believe it.

But anyway, back to the video.

DNCE just released the music video for their new single "Body Moves" from their first self-titled album, and giiiiiiiiiirl open that window because you are gonna need something to cool you down after watching it.

Apparently, it was hot to Jonas as well. He also revealed during his AMA that there was some "half-chubbing" going on.

"I wouldn’t say a full-blown boner, but I would say a halfie. I mean, it's kind of hard not to in that situation, especially when you're trying to be intimate, and also they put us in an elevator, me and Charlotte McKinney, who I’m sure Reddit is very familiar with. They put her in an elevator with me, and then they had kind of a hidden camera filming this whole time, and I had a great time doing the video."

Not only is this video super-steamy, but we think Jonas and his band may have taken some inspiration from a few other musicians before putting together this sex tape-inspired video.

1. Adam Levine

Not only are the two men lucky enough to get it on with two gorgeous blond models (Levine with Anne Vyalitsyna in Misery and Jonas with Charlotte McKinney), but they also share a resemblance; both have dark hair and dark eyebrows.

2. Enrique Iglesias

Again, both men share a resemblance with dark hair, but the elevator scene in the DNCE video reminds us of this scene in Iglesias' "Finally Found You" video from 2012.

3. Ricky Martin

Martin's "She Bangs" video showcases some grope-y dancing, similar to "Body Moves."

4. Danny Zuko

Maybe it's the black shirt and again, the dark hair, but Jonas sure does channel the original player Danny Zuko from Grease in the video.

5. Robin Thicke

Known for the controversial lyrics to "Blurred Lines," Thicke knows what makes a sexy music video, and we're sure Jonas looked to him for some inspo.

What Scott Baio said while defending Donald Trump is beyond infuriating

Scott Baio may be more disgusting than Donald Trump.

More: We don't need to have daughters or wives to find Donald Trump appalling

The Republican presidential nominee has come under fire in the last week for some remarks he made in 2005 on a hot mic. He bragged about sexually assaulting women, claiming that because he was famous, he could do whatever he wanted to women without their consent, including "grab them by the pussy."

It shouldn't be surprising that Scott Baio would defend Trump even after this, but even Baio's misogynistic track record couldn't prepare us for how truly awful his remarks would be.

"I like Trump because Trump is not a politician. He talks like a guy, and ladies out there, this is what guys talk about when you’re not around. So if you’re offended by it, grow up, OK?"

Scott Baio defends Donald Trump

Grow up? Grow up?! Excuse me, but did Baio just tell us to grow up because we got upset that a man literally bragged about sexually assaulting women?

This is rape culture, folks.

More: Kids react to the second presidential debate between Clinton and Trump

And for the record, lots of men have come forward to say, very vehemently, that no, this is not just what men talk about when they're on their own. Sex talk is one thing; sexual assault talk is always unacceptable.

Athletes speak out against

Athletes speak out against

Athletes speak out against

Athletes speak out against

Baio ends his remarks on the subject by saying, "And by the way, this is what you guys talk about over white wine when you have your brunches. This is the way the world works. It’s not a big thing."

I can't say I've ever had a conversation about grabbing anyone's genitals without their permission at any point in my life, but maybe that's just me. Ladies? Back me up.

Baio is right about one thing: "This is the way the world works."

Yes, this is the world we've created for women. It's a world where 1 in 3 women will be sexually assaulted in her life, and less than 1 percent of accused rapists will ever see a jail cell.

Image: Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network

And why is sexual assault under-reported and rarely prosecuted in the U.S.? Because of statements like Baio's. When women believe that sexual assault is "the way the world works" and that powerful men brush it off as just something men do and talk about, when a freaking nominee for president jokes and brags about it, sexual assault happens, and women just accept it as a part of life. That's fucked up, you guys. We can't let Trump's or Baio's remarks slide. This has to end somewhere.

Justin Timberlake, like most new dads, has no idea what he’s doing

It's not like Justin Timberlake to divulge too much about his private life, but when it comes to his baby son Silas, he can't help but gush. And smile. And gush. And smile.

More: Ben Affleck knows the bottom-line truth about being a dad

The dad of one was interviewed by the Today show and revealed just how much fatherhood has changed him. "You literally just wake up, look in the mirror and go… 'I have no idea what I’m doing!'" he said.

Timberlake and wife Jessica Biel welcomed their son in April 2015, and it wasn't long before baby Silas made his Instagram debut. Now 19 months old, he has only made a few appearances on his dad's social media pages, but he's always super-cute when he does.

Timberlake also spoke about the influence Silas has had on his music, confessing that he "would never have written a song like Can't Stop The Feeling" if it weren't for his new role as a dad. “I don't know that it was directly inspired to be something that my son could listen to of mine because there's a lot of music he can't listen to of mine. At least not yet!” he added.

Some of his praise was directed toward his "superhuman" wife Biel: “It's crazy. I have this new appreciation for both of them," he explained. “You know, her and him. It's humiliating and it's humbling at the same time.”

Timberlake and Biel will celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary next week — they married in an Italian ceremony in 2012.

Donald Trump reportedly walked in on naked teens at beauty pageants

$

Donald Trump's perversion isn't even limited to women who are of legal consenting age.

More: What Scott Baio said while defending Donald Trump is beyond infuriating

A number of former contestants in his Miss Teen USA pageants have come forward saying Trump would let himself into their dressing rooms while they were changing. Some of them were as young as 15.

The four women who made the claims were part of the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant. Three of them spoke anonymously, while Mariah Billado, a former Miss Teen Vermont USA, allowed her name to be used.

"I remember putting on my dress really quick because I was like, 'Oh my god, there’s a man in here,'" Billado recalled. Trump, meanwhile, said "something like 'Don't worry, ladies, I've seen it all before.'"

More: Trump's comments showed me that words really do matter

It doesn't seem unlikely that this is exactly what occurred since Trump has admitted to going right on into the dressing room at the Miss USA pageant (the one for adults, not that it makes it any less disgusting).

In a 2005 episode of The Howard Stern Show, Trump bragged that seeing the contestants naked was just one of the perks he enjoyed as owner of the pageant.

"I’ll go backstage before a show, and everyone’s getting dressed and ready and everything else," he said. "And you know, no men are anywhere. And I’m allowed to go in because I’m the owner of the pageant. And therefore, I’m inspecting it."

He continued, "You know they’re standing there with no clothes. And you see these incredible-looking women. And so I sort of get away with things like that."

From a man who openly brags about sexually assaulting women, this shouldn't be a surprise. But when will Trump's actions be enough for his remaining supporters to jump ship? Is ogling undressed, underage girls enough? Somehow, I doubt it.

People accused me of being lazy – until I was diagnosed with narcolepsy

$

If there has been a constant in my life, it would be exhaustion. No matter how much sleep I got the night before, no matter how much coffee I drank, I was always so, so tired. In high school, I struggled to stay awake in my classes and sometimes I lost the battle altogether. It wasn't uncommon for me to miss an entire geometry class, waking only when the bell rang. My grades suffered, and I actually failed a couple of classes. At parent-teacher conferences, most of my teachers would say that I was smart, but I didn't apply myself. Not one mentioned that I slept in class.

More: The hardest part of lupus was not knowing what it was

I was hopeful that college would be different. Being on my own for the first time was scary, but I looked forward to the change of scenery and thought it might help me stay awake. In reality, my academic performance was worse. I still slept through some of my classes, but this time I did it in my dorm room. On more than one occasion, I managed to sleep until sometimes 4:00 in the afternoon. Needless to say, I didn't return to school the next year.

I spent my 20s bouncing from one job to the next. Getting to work on time was an issue, since I struggled to get out of bed in the mornings. While at work, I would sometimes doze off in front of the computer, or I would struggle to concentrate on even the simplest tasks. When I worked out of town, I had trouble keeping myself awake while driving, even in the morning after a full night of sleep.

My body and mind felt starved for rest, and the constant lack of energy pulled me into depression that only made it worse. I drank heavily throughout my 20s, gained weight, and sank deeper into depression. Now that I was an adult, I no longer heard that I didn't apply myself. Instead, I was just flat-out lazy. When I tried to describe how I felt, the usual response was to "Suck it up, everyone gets tired sometimes."

I finally went to my doctor to get some answers. My first diagnosis was depression, which led to a frustrating month of taking an anti-depressant that did nothing for me. At my next appointment, I was diagnosed with an under active thyroid and given a prescription for Levothyroxine. A few months later and I still didn't feel better. Feeling pretty hopeless, I gave up on doctors for a while. The end of my 20s brought huge changes to my life, and I didn't have time to dwell on how tired I was. After my son was born, I let the exhaustion envelope me like a comfortable old blanket. Now that I had a newborn to take care of, people were more understanding when I said I was tired.

More: My autoimmune disease didn't kill me but it took my job, friends, and house

I knew I needed to start taking care of myself to be a good mom. I found an exercise program that I loved, started going to therapy, and improved my diet. Everything should have been perfect, but I was still constantly exhausted.

My OB/GYN referred me to a primary care doctor in her network. This new doctor took her time reading over my medical history and asking me so many questions. Then she looked me in the eye and asked if I had ever been tested for narcolepsy. I'll admit that I laughed, because it sounded so silly. I wasn't falling asleep in the middle of conversations!

Still, she wanted me to have a sleep study. I agreed, and spent a night in a sleep study room with wires stuck to my head, face, chest, and legs. A week later, I was driving home from my son's dentist appointment when I got a phone call about the results.

Image: Ashlee Greenlee

"The test showed definite signs of narcolepsy," she said.

I didn't hear much after that. Shocked to finally have an answer, I actually started crying. My sweet boy was asking, "What's wrong, mama?" from the backseat, and I couldn't quite come up with a way to describe it. After so many years of wondering what could be wrong with me, and hearing about how lazy or unmotivated I was, I knew it wasn't my fault.

Now that I am being treated, my life has improved drastically. For the first time in my life, I can workout every day without being completely sapped of energy. Normal daily responsibilities are no longer overwhelming. Working on my laptop isn't a guaranteed accidental nap anymore. Best of all, I can (almost!) keep up with my energetic boy.

I do still have difficult days, but I'm thankful to finally be feeling better than I ever have.

Reality TV star breastfeeds on live TV because hungry babies don't wait

When a baby needs fed, everything else has to be put on hold. Including live TV appearances. OK, so that's not something many breastfeeding mums have to deal with, but reality TV regular Sam Faiers did — and she handled it like a boss.

More: Baby poop decoded: What those crazy colors really mean

Faiers was being interviewed on ITV's This Morning on Wednesday about the new series of her reality show The Mummy Diaries, and her 10-month-old son Paul (her first child with fiancé Paul Knightley) decided he was hungry. Well, what's a mum to do? Faiers decided to breastfeed her son live on the This Morning sofa during her chat with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, covering him with a blanket while he nursed, then passing him to Willoughby while she buttoned up her shirt and carried on with the interview.

Viewers were quick to sing her praises, taking to social media to show their respect for the mum and backing her decision.

More: The weird breastfeeding problems no one tells you about at birthing class

We're loving Faiers' attitude. She might not be the average working mum, but she still has to fit the demands of a breastfeeding baby into her schedule and this proves that sometimes you just have to go with the flow — and to hell with what anyone else thinks. All nursing mothers have been there: You're in the most inappropriate place ever and your baby decides they need to eat. Right now. A 10-month-old won't wait patiently for five minutes, no matter how nicely you ask.

Back in July, Faiers caused a bit of a stir when she posted a picture of her breastfeeding her son on Snapchat, with some fans blasting her move. "I'm all for women breast feeding in public but does Sam Faiers really need to put it on her snapchat story," complained one.

In a word: yes. Because that is her story, or at least a huge part of it right now. Breastfeeding is demanding and time-consuming and tiring. Faiers is a reality TV star, and this is her reality.

The one leaked Clinton email that matters the most: Risottogate

Of all the revelations that came from the WikiLeaks "October Surprise" bank of Clinton emails, this is the one that surprised us the most. One Merrill Lynch financial adviser's influence extends far beyond the Clinton Foundation. It goes straight into Clinton campaign chair John Podesta's... kitchen?

More: The easiest, creamiest oven-baked risotto

Yes, kitchen. Among the leaked emails is this conversation between Podesta and Peter Huffman, who has worked with the Clinton Foundation. It's about risotto. Pay attention, because this is pretty crucial information.

Podesta asks:

So I have been making a lot of risotto lately...and regardless of the recipe, I more/less adhere to every step you taught me. Question: why do I use a 1/4 or 1/2 a cup of stock at a time? Why can't you just add 1 or 2 cups of stock at a time b/c the arborio rice will eventually absorb it anyway, right?

Huffman replies:

Yes and no Yes it with absorb the liquid, but no that's not what you want to do. The slower add process and stirring causes the rice to give up it's starch which gives the risotto it's creamy consistency. You won't get that if you dump all that liquid at once.

So. Podesta. Trying to take shortcuts on your risotto? Trying to game the process? Tsk-tsk, I am disappointed.

More: Gluten-free cauliflower cream risotto

I'm kidding. I make my risotto in a pressure cooker, so I'm not one to talk. I do toast the grains first, then let it absorb about a cup of white wine. But then I add all the stock at once and cook the whole thing for about seven to eight minutes. And you know what? Stir in some freshly grated Parmesan at the end, and it's plenty creamy. You'd be surprised.

More: 9 foods you didn't know you can cook in a pressure cooker

There are a couple of different ways you could view this revealing email. Either Podesta is a total cheater in all things, or he's simply a smart person who questions everything and looks to find the most efficient means to a goal. I think it says a lot that he had the curiosity to keep asking about risotto.

Steve Jobs: The real story behind Jobs and his daughter Lisa

If you haven't seen the 2015 Steve Jobs movie yet — based on the book of the same name by Walter Isaacson and with a stellar Rotten Tomatoes rating of 86 percent — there's still plenty of time. A year later, and the media's continuing to buzz about the highly rated movie, which you can catch for free on HBO Go or rent on iTunes or Amazon Video. The biggest topic of interest? We're all still trying to figure out what really went on between Jobs and his daughter Lisa, and how much was exaggerated for the sake of the big screen.

Separating fact from fiction

It's common knowledge that movie and TV plotlines are normally, shall we say, embellished — even when based on a true story. This is exactly what got fans to talking after seeing the movie. We see Steve Jobs' daughter Lisa appear in multiple stages and ages throughout the movie, played by three different actresses as she grows up.

More: One Steve Jobs trailer flaw involves Kate Winslet's character

And while the movie mainly focuses on Jobs' legacy and lifetime achievements, broken up into three different acts based on major product releases, critics say the interaction between Jobs and Lisa in the movie is actually a metaphor for his ego and his need to control everything around him.

Here's what we know about the real Lisa Brennan-Jobs: Born May 17, 1978, Lisa Nicole Brennan is the Apple co-founder Steve Jobs' daughter from his high school love, Chrisann Brennan. Jobs wasn't present for Lisa's birth, but he came to visit a few days after she was born.

The name Lisa was then given to a new computer Jobs was working on, but he created the acronym "Local Integrated Software Architecture" to explain the name to customers. In a very strange act of parenting, he told Lisa he did not name the computer after her. According to Isaacson's book, Steve Jobs, years later Jobs said, "Obviously, it was named for my daughter."

More: Jobs movie review: Ashton Kutcher's sleek hardware

Strangely, though, perhaps terrified by the prospect of being a father, Jobs publicly denied being Lisa's dad, and a legal case followed. Even after a DNA paternity test established Jobs as Lisa's father, he made up a ridiculous argument that because the DNA test said he was 94.1 percent likely to be Lisa's father, 28 percent of the male population could also be Lisa's father. Years later, Jobs apologized for the cruel remarks.

Once paternity was legally declared, Jobs was forced to give Lisa's mom $385 per month in child support. He increased the amount to a mere $500 a month once he became a millionaire. As Lisa Brennan got older, she and her father reconciled, and she even lived with him during high school. She legally changed her name to Lisa Brennan-Jobs. Wanting to be a writer, Lisa attended Harvard University and graduated in 2000.

Next up: Lisa Brennan-Jobs is the real star of the movie

Lisa Brennan-Jobs is the real star of the movie

According to AppleInsiderLisa Brennan-Jobs gave a rare interview in which she spoke about her life after her father's death, saying, "It wasn't until really he passed away that we all as kids and my mother realized how much he really had an effect on the family. And while he wasn't involved on a kind of day-to-day basis, when I think of who I am today and who my brothers and sisters are, so much of it is thanks to my father."

MoreAshton Kutcher hospitalized after trying Steve Jobs' fruit diet

When asked why she didn't pursue computer engineering like her father, she said Jobs urged his children to explore different fields and find what made them happy. But it's easy to see that a career in technology would be intimidating, considering he accomplished so much in his short life. "He encouraged us to follow our dreams. I had big shoes to fill if I wanted to go into science," Brennan-Jobs said.

Steve Jobs screenwriter, Aaron Sorkin, said he discussed the movie with Lisa Brennan-Jobs before making it and calls her the "heroine of the film."

According to Business Insider, Sorkin also said, "At first I didn't know what I was looking for. Lisa didn't speak to Walter Isaacson when Walter was writing the book because her father was alive at the time. But she was willing to speak to me. She was able to tell stories about her father that weren’t necessarily flattering stories, but she would tell the story and then show me how you could see he really did love her."

Lisa Brennan-Jobs has three half-siblings, Reed, Erin and Eve, whose mother is Jobs' widow, Laurene Powell Jobs. Lisa Brennan-Jobs is currently a freelance writer living in New York and has written for such publications as O, The Oprah Magazine and Vogue. You can also read Lisa Brennan-Jobs' blog. In the movie, Brennan-Jobs is played by actresses Ripley Sobo, Makenzie Moss and Perla Haney-Jardine at various ages.

Lisa Brennan-Jobs

Lisa Brennan-Jobs

But that still doesn't answer the question on everyone's mind: Was the portrayal of Steve Jobs' daughter in the movie really accurate? There are plenty of facts about Lisa in the movie that have been confirmed — like the paternity dispute and the initial denial that Jobs named the Apple Lisa after his daughter. And yet, like most on-screen adaptations, the Steve Jobs movie isn't 100 percent on point.

The scene of 5-year-old Lisa bonding with Jobs backstage by using MacPaint is reported to be pure fiction. And while we don't want to give away any spoilers, the big reconciliation between Jobs and Lisa at the end of the movie also leaves out the fact that Jobs had remarried and had three other kids. What's true is most of the good stuff, though some details may be shaky. Jobs and Lisa were in a much better place before he died in 2011, and their tumultuous relationship alone makes the movie worth watching.

For those who haven't seen the film just yet, here's the official trailer for Steve Jobs, released in 2015:

I'm losing customers because my coworker sabotaged me

Today we're talking about when a coworker sabotages your work.

More: One of my coworkers is stealing money out of purses and my boss won't do anything

Question:

My coworker Peter threw me under the bus to all of my customers. Just before I left on a much needed vacation, I outlined the two major projects I had in the works and gave Peter everything he needed to handle any customer calls.

Peter said “No problem, I’ll handle everything just as you would want.” My computer signature auto-reply let customers know that if they had questions, Peter could take care of them. Peter however, told every customer who called, “I’m sorry, I wasn’t left information on that.” As a result, when I got home my inbox was full of angry emails, and I lost several key accounts.

How do I handle this? I want to tell my customers that I didn’t let them down, that I gave Peter enough background information that he should have been able to handle their questions.

More: I'm bored by my new job but scared if I leave it will look bad on my resume

Answer:

Don’t. If you start explaining what happened, you’ll risk making your customers uneasy. It will seem like you and Peter are playing shift the blame games and that they’re caught in the crossfire. Instead, call every customer and apologize profusely, then determine what they need and how you can help them.

Call the customers you lost as well. You may not be able to get them back, but if you handle those calls well and they find they don’t like their new vendor, they may return.

Next, meet with Peter. Don’t confront him, fact find. Did he not know how to handle the customers’ questions and thus truly felt he didn’t have enough information? Did he feel you unfairly dumped your job on him? Or, as you may already suspect, did he intentionally sabotage you, and if so, why?

Finally, fill your boss in, as he’ll undoubtedly learn about this situation and it’s better if he hears the straight story from you. Take the high road in how you factually present the situation and make no accusations.

Outline for him the information you gave Peter before you left and add that Peter told you “No problem,” but then told customers he wasn’t left the proper information. Provide your boss the emails you received and tell him how you’ve resolved the customers’ complaints.

My guess – neither you nor anyone else in your company will ever experience the “Peter” situation again.

I was the cute pregnant jogging lady (until I wasn’t)

$

Before I even became pregnant, I envisioned myself as one of those healthy, fit pregnant ladies. You know the type — you see them jogging around in cute exercise clothes looking like it wouldn’t even occur to them that they were nine months pregnant until they looked down and saw their huge tummies and went, “Oops! Ha-ha. Well, one more mile, why not?” They look like they barely stop exercising long enough to even get pregnant, let alone get slowed down by any sort of inconvenient gestation. To be a pregnant jogger, to me, meant that you were in total control of your body, inside and out.

I still remember the jog I went on the morning I first found out I was pregnant. I bounced along to Robyn’s “Stars 4-Ever” thinking to myself and the little zygote within, “You and I are going to go on a lot of runs like this!” It was happening! I was going to be one of those cute, fit, pregnant jogging ladies!

And actually, I was — up until a point. Certain health goals that I had early in my pregnancy went by the wayside when real life stepped in — it’s hard to eat salad for lunch every day, for instance, when you’re going through a massive veggie aversion. However, I did keep up my running by signing up for one short-distance race a month. Just like Katie Benzel over at the Washington Post did in “How I kept running while I was pregnant,” I paid close attention to my heart rate and exertion level to avoid overdoing it.

More: Exercising while pregnant

I wasn’t always successful. During one race when I was about five months pregnant, I felt a competitive rage toward a guy ahead of me who would repeatedly jog, slow down to walk, then glance over his shoulder at me, who was slow and steady like the proverbial pregnant tortoise. I envisioned him thinking “You’re not going to get beaten by a pregnant woman, are you?” So I kicked it up to a sprint for the last quarter mile and beat the guy. I felt an alarming cramping afterward.

In my seventh month, I ran my last 5K during a laid-back neighborhood charity race. It felt like it took forever, even with numerous walk breaks. Where I had earlier felt joy and pride in my physical achievements, I was now only tiresome slog. I decided my days of being a cute, pregnant running lady were over.

By the time I got pregnant a second time, I was over trying to be the cute, pregnant anything. Especially when it came to running — the idea of chugging along carried little to no appeal to me. Instead, I purchased a waterproof iPad case and spent the majority of my pregnancy exercise time in the pool, doing laps and listening to books by Amy Poehler and Tina Fey. In the pool, I was weightless, invisible, uncompetitive with myself or with anybody else. I didn’t have to be cute or fast when I was just underwater.

More: Moms can't stop laughing at stroller company's ridiculous photo

I’m grateful that I was able to exercise during both my pregnancies — I wanted to make sure I could return to exercise after giving birth without taking too much time off, and it was helpful for managing stress and back pain. Some mother-runners worry about keeping pace with their pre-pregnancy selves once they’re with child or once they’re officially mothers, but learning how to mesh your fitness routine with your pregnancy is a microcosm of parenthood itself. You do the best you can with what you’ve got and be ready to adapt if things don’t work out the way you want them to. Either you run slower or you just find a new pool to jump into.

Everyone's excited for Bethenny Frankel's baby news! Well, except for her mom

This could be big news for The Real Housewives of New York!

More: Bethenny Frankel's NYC apartment comes with neighbors Beyoncé and Jay Z

Reports are saying that newly divorced Bethenny Frankel has big plans with her new man, Dennis Shields. First on the list? Apparently, the couple wants a baby via a surrogate.

Frankel is already mom to 6-year-old daughter Bryn with her ex-husband, Jason Hoppy. An insider told Life & Style magazine that while Frankel is sure she wants to add to her brood, she's "about to turn 46 and she’s not delusional about wanting to carry a child at her age. But Bethenny has always wanted a sibling for Bryn."

While this could be very happy news for Frankel as she moves on from the end of her marriage, not everyone is there to celebrate with her. Her estranged mom, Bernadette Birk, actually had some nasty things to say about the idea of Frankel having another baby.

More: You'd have to pay Bethenny Frankel to get her to LuAnn de Lesseps' wedding

"I think it’s stupid, because she can’t even take care of [Bryn]," Birk said. "She’s all over the place. Really, is she going to have a baby to cement the relationship with this new guy? I don’t know. Bethenny always has a reason for everything she does."

Harsh words.

But it's nobody's place to make this decision but Frankel's. She's actually already tried for another baby. She had a miscarriage five years ago, and she reportedly can't have kids of her own anymore after that, so a surrogate may be her best bet. And with all the drama Frankel brings to RHONY, we can't help but think having something positive to focus on, like raising a new baby, could be a great thing for her.

Mark Burnett’s refusal to get involved in politics could severely damage his brand

Is Mark Burnett’s refusal to get involved in politics damaging his career?

More: What Scott Baio said while defending Donald Trump is beyond infuriating

Burnett, the massively successful TV producer behind shows like Survivor, Shark Tank, The Voice and of course, The Apprentice — the show that made Donald Trump a household name — is facing mounting pressure to release condemning behind-the-scenes footage of Trump.

It’s unclear what that footage may show, but as Trump faces backlash over leaked audio in which he bragged about sexually assaulting women, rumors are growing saying his comments on The Apprentice were much, much worse.

Anyone who worked on the show faces a $5 million contractual penalty for leaking information from the show, Politico reports. Still, former producers, staff members and contestants have been quietly opening up about the things they heard during filming — claims say Trump used the N-word on set, ranked female contestants by their breast size and talked openly about which female contestants he would most like to have sex with.

Burnett, as the show’s creator and executive producer, should have access to the damning footage of Trump that others are saying exists. And as Election Day draws near, the pressure put on Burnett to release the footage is growing stronger.

More: Trump's comments showed me that words really do matter

Famous civil rights lawyer Gloria Allred has been leading the charge. This week, she held a press conference near the Beverly Hills corporate office of MGM, the production company that owns rights to The Apprentice, calling on the company and Burnett, its president, to release the tapes "in the public interest."

Mark Burnett urged to release Donald Trump tapes

Mark Burnett urged to release Donald Trump tapes

Allred has also offered her legal expertise to help Burnett navigate the legality of releasing the tapes. Since Trump himself was a partner in the show, he may have a legal right to say when and where proprietary footage is released. Burnett actually released a statement earlier this week saying that he does not personally have the right to release the footage.

"MGM owns Mark Burnett’s production company and The Apprentice is one of its properties," the statement read. "Despite reports to the contrary, Mark Burnett does not have the ability nor the right to release footage or other material from The Apprentice. Various contractual and legal requirements also restrict MGM’s ability to release such material."

More: Donald Trump reportedly walked in on naked teens at beauty pageants

How this may affect Burnett’s career is the big question. TV executives say Burnett, who has a good reputation in the entertainment industry, could hurt potential future deals if he burns Trump by releasing the footage.

“There’s no upside to it,” one industry executive told Politico. “You erode any trust that anyone ever had in you. Who would ever want to work with you again?”

But how fans will react is another question. As more and more people turn against Trump in the days leading up to the election, Burnett’s refusal to release footage that has the rumored potential to finally end Trump’s campaign may not sit well with those who actually watch his shows. Whether his decision to stay out of the political arena this year will negatively affect Burnett’s brand remains to be seen.

Nick and Sonia have some sweet but challenging moments on Married at First Sight

This week, Nick and Sonia are still living apart. Nick tells the camera that he is confused and not sure how to move forward with this change, and that he wants to try living with Sonia again.Dr. Pepper Schwarz, one of the show's experts, suggests to Sonia that she may want to consider moving back in but Sonia isn't sure yet.

Nick and Sonia are given exercises by Schwartz to practice getting to know each other. The questions are designed to get them to get vulnerable with each other. They work: Nick is able to open up with some feelings and thoughts. But later he appears frustrated that his improvements haven't made her want to move back in with him yet.Sonia tells the camera that she has to move at her own pace. She decides that she wants her father's input and has him go by the house with Nick to see what he thinks. The father makes an excellent point that each of them should want to be together for ever. They are each choosing the relationship and need to want this relationship in order for it work.

My thought is that Sonia should absolutely only move back when she feels emotionally comfortable. While I think the experts make the argument that marriage can only grow when two people live together,I’m not so sure this marriage would fare any better if she moved back in so quickly.I believe that if they were doing well as a couple, it would naturally allow for them to develop a relationship that becomes closer.Just by putting them together under the same roof will not create any more connection.I would be more concerned with helping Nick to learn to accept where she is at emotionally and not push for a change in the living arrangement because he would like her to live back at home. He needs to focus on her emotional comfort more than his own.But that takes a lot of emotional maturity to realize the needs of the other over self.

There's a sweet moment where Nick teaches Sonia how to play golf and she appears to feel that this brings them closer together. She tells the camera that her perception is changing and she feels that she might move back in. So, we will see next week what is to come.

Five clues that give us hope Steve Burton is returning to General Hospital

$

It’s a Sophie's-choice situation in the soap-opera world right now. With the news that Steve Burton is exiting The Young and the Restless at the end of his contract in December brings about questions to whether he would entertain a return to General Hospital.

More: Steve Burton’s exit from Y&R signals a big problem in daytime TV

Burton played Jason Morgan on GH from 1991 through 2012. When he departed the show, the role remained dormant until 2014 when Billy Miller took over the role as a part of the character’s return to the show.

Miller won over most of the GH fans even though Burton is still seen as the “real” Jason by longtime viewers. Both talented actors brought their own interpretation to the character, so this latest twist in the soap world leaves us wondering if Burton will return to GH if Miller’s current contract negotiations don’t work out with ABC.

Here are a few hopeful signs that might have us seeing Burton back on GH.

ABC

Let’s be honest, it’s been a tough year for actors on General Hospital when it comes to contract negotiations. Sometimes it works out, like in Rebecca Herbst's case, and sometimes it hasn’t, just ask Tyler Christopher. If the Miller contract talks go south, will the network just swoop in and offer the role back to Burton?

More: Soap operas constantly tackle social issues — and often before other TV shows

Legacy character

Jason Morgan is definitely a legacy character on GH. There are some fans who only see Burton in the role no matter how great Miller is at his job. Sometimes a show will take the opportunity to get the original actor back as a part of that legacy.

The timing

The timing is curious, isn’t it? Burton announces his departure at the end of his contract around the same time Miller’s contract is up. Maybe we are fishing for something that isn’t there, but it sure does raise a few eyebrows.

Y&R changes

Burton’s departure also comes at a time when Y&R has a new executive producer and head writer on staff. Former executive producer Jill Farren Phelps lured him over to CBS. Now that she’s no longer in charge, maybe he felt like it was a good time to jump ship?

More: General Hospital star Matt Cohen shouldn’t leave his daytime job

Billy Miller’s career

Miller has successfully straddled his time on GH by also continuing to work in primetime television and in major motion pictures. He has appeared in SuitsAmerican Sniper, Bad Blood and Urban Cowboy during his time on the ABC soap. We’ve recently seen quite a few actors explore their careers beyond daytime TV, could Miller be looking to do the same thing?

As we all know, anything can happen in the soap-opera industry and viewers have seen plenty of shifts in the last 18 months. We will have to seen what Burton’s next big step is, but one can always hope for a GH return.

He says to her, "Going up the escalator?" To which she responds with, "yeah." You can then see her going up the escalator, and it's what happens next that has everyone talking — Trump says, "I am going to be dating her in 10 years. Can you believe it?"

It's finally time to pull the trigger and do that Pinterest project you've had pinned for a rainy day. DIY dog treats are ridiculously easy to make at home, and while we haven't personally taste-tested them, we've seen firsthand that the dogs are going crazy for them. Because store-bought dog treats get stale and are also made with added ingredients, these fresh-baked treats are the perfect way to show your pooch how much you care.

And did we mention they're super-easy? If you've got some organic peanut butter and whole-wheat flour in your pantry, then you're halfway there:

Before making these dog treats, be sure you take your dog's dietary needs into consideration. Some dogs don't do well with peanut butter while some dogs love it. As always, put your dog's best interest first. However, I've never met a dog that doesn't like homemade treats. They make wonderful gifts tied in baker's twine or delivered in small jars.
