Luann de Lesseps, what's with all the, like, uncool boyfriend-stealing?

Poor Sonja Morgan should probably stop hanging out with Luann de Lesseps.

More: RHONY's Bethenny Frankel is savage, and I love it

Morgan, who joined The Real Housewives of New York cast in 2008, still devastated from a painful divorce, has opened up on Twitter about two relationships she's had since she split from her husband — and both men were stolen from her by de Lesseps.

Early on in her stint on RHONY, Morgan was dating Harry Dubin, who famously gave her a promise ring. Soon after, however, Dubin left a party with de Lesseps instead of Morgan, leaving her devastated.

"I gave back [the] ring. He was going to copy [Ramona’s]. We went out decades ago. Harry’s always had a thing for me but he’s a player," Morgan tweeted about the incident. However, she followed that tweet with another saying she wasn't ready for a serious relationship with Dubin.

More: Expect Luann de Lesseps to wear not one, not two, but three wedding dresses

"Just wasn’t ready. Was raising my daughter & getting through my financial affairs. Done. Now I don’t feel on hold," she wrote.

Fast-forward to Thomas D'Agostino, with whom Morgan claims to have had an affair lasting 10 years, though it was rarely physical — Morgan said she and D'Agostino were physical only about five times during the 10 years they knew each other, though they talked often and were very close.

As Morgan was sending her daughter to boarding school, she was also planning a future with D'Agostino... until de Lesseps announced that she was engaged to him.

"OMG I’m so embarrassed at my reaction to Luann’s happiness at her engagement party. My first reactions were territorial, and I was shocked it was the same Tom as in ‘my Tom.’ My really good friend," Morgan wrote in a blog post about the engagement.

"Tom also made me mad with recent things he had said to me and the press downplaying our relationship, and therefore, my feelings. It’s embarrassing for me, looks like I’m jealous, and I want her happy as long as it lasts. Marriage or no marriage, I just want Lu happy, not hurt and disappointed."

More: Maybe it's none of our business, but Luann de Lesseps should dump her fiancé

Do you think Sonja Morgan should be so understanding after Luann de Lesseps keeps stealing her boyfriends?

6 unexpected health benefits of sperm — yes, you read that right

$

0

Sperm may not be the first thing you want to talk about on a girls' night out or at family dinner, but there's science surrounding the baby batter that most of us have encountered a time or two before. We already know that sex is great for your physical and mental health. Sex past the age of 50 can even help you live longer. But for all of their function, those little swimmers aren't normally given enough credit. Beyond the sperm-meets-egg scenario, the recent developments in sperm research are way different (and way more bizarre) than any of us expected.

What we're trying to say is, it might officially be time to stop worrying about whether to spit or swallow:

1. Semen is a natural anti-depressant

I know sex in general can put a smile back on my face, but I never thought it had anything to do with semen. According to a study conducted on 293 female college students at the State University of New York in Albany, exposure to semen can lower symptoms of depression. The study compared female students who were having sex with condoms versus those who were having sex without, and found that the latter group overall showed fewer signs of depression.

More: Bigger breasts linked to depression and eating disorders

According to the study's author, "These data are consistent with the possibility that semen may antagonize depressive symptoms, and evidence which shows that the vagina absorbs a number of components of semen that can be detected in the bloodstream within a few hours of administration." Basically, women absorb semen quickly, and thus its benefits can be easily detected in the bloodstream.

But don't go having unprotected sex because of this. I will state the obvious: There are still such things as STDs and you can still get pregnant despite this health benefit.

2. It helps you sleep better

Yes, sure, you're usually worn out after sex, but that may not be why you sleep so well that night. Semen actually contains melatonin which is a chemical that induces sleep and relaxation. Whether you ingest it, or receive it through intercourse, it will enter your bloodstream and help you doze off better than most over-the-counter sleep aids.

More: 6 Extremely common sex problems it's OK to finally talk about

3. A multivitamin in each ejaculation

One teaspoon of semen contains over 200 proteins and several helpful vitamins and minerals including vitamin C, calcium, chlorine, citric acid, fructose, lactic acid, magnesium, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sodium, vitamin B12 and zinc. While amounts of each vitamin vary with age and relative health of the obliging male, there is usually a significant amount of zinc present (about 3 percent of US RDA), which is an antioxidant that helps slow down the aging process. So besides exercise, sex (sans condom) gives you a healthy dose of something good.

Next Up: Oral sex can lower your blood pressure

{pageBreak}

4. Oral sex can lower your blood pressure

A recent study suggests that swallowing the baby juice on a regular basis can lower your blood pressure. Women who swallow their male mate's sperm during oral sex often have a much lower risk of getting preeclampsia — a complication during pregnancy that results in super-high blood pressure. So semen is helpful in making and birthing a baby.

5. It lowers the risk of prostate cancer (when expelled)

So this last one's not so much a health benefit of semen, but rather the act of semen is released. The Journal of the American Medical Association reported that "high ejaculation frequency was related to decreased risk of total prostate cancer." This means that whether you do it alone or with a friend, if you're ejaculating regularly, you're lowering your chances of getting prostate cancer later in life. Suddenly the term "release your demons" takes on new meaning.

6. It could be the next all-natural fire extinguisher

You read that right. Research that's being conducted at the Polytechnic University of Turin suggests that the DNA in semen could be used to create flame-retardant materials. Right now, they're looking specifically at DNA from herring sperm cells and finding that it converts to a "ceramic-like material when exposed to extreme heat."

The science behind it is a little intense, but simply put, the components found in the DNA could be an environmentally friendly way to protect fabric from flame. While this sounds awesome, I wouldn't go attempting the human fire extinguisher just yet.

I ruined my professional reputation and I don't know how to regain anyone's trust

$

Today I'm discussing how to handle losing your professional reputation.

More: My last job was so awful that I'm freaking out on my new boss

Question:

I made a serious mistake, permanently damaging relationships with my boss and coworkers when I lied and almost lost my professional license. I’m on probation and can’t work in my chosen profession for a year. What’s worse is that the verdict against me now sits on my permanent public record, meaning that anyone who looks into me professionally will see it.

My only chance for career salvation seems to be to move to another city, but my family is here. Without them, I don’t have any backup for my kids when I travel, and my kids don’t want to leave their schools and friends.

I desperately want to win back the trust and respect I’ve lost. I sent my former boss an apology letter and email, but she returned it unopened. I tried to arrange lunch with two of my former coworkers, but each said she was terribly busy. A third was willing to talk with me on the phone, and I told him how very sorry I was. I said I wanted to make amends and he said, “The problem is, no one knows if this ‘new you’ is just a new scam you’re trying to pull off.”

What can I say to win back their trust and respect? And a year from now, how do I handle those who ask me questions about my record?

More: Bullying at work is just as toxic as in the school yard

Answer:

Talk doesn’t earn trust. Repeated honest actions win trust and respect.

Begin by admitting what you did wrong, first to yourself and then to others. We respect those who honestly admit mistakes and who tell the truth, even when doing so puts them in a bad light.

Then, make genuine amends by reversing your former actions. If in the past you’ve used others, offer to be of service to them. If you weren’t straight with others, tell the truth from this moment on, even when it works against your interests. Be the opposite of a scammer by thinking of others first, not yourself.

Although you can’t work in your chosen profession, work hard in whatever career field you’ve landed. By doing so, you can build a new record. Those who meet you and look into your past will see an individual who acts radically differently than her record. If you’re lucky, they’ll ask you about it, and you can tell them you learned a painful lesson.

In other words, don’t just talk a good story, visibly and completely change your behavior so that those you wronged, and others, see a new you.

The hate Bethenny Frankel is getting on Instagram is the worst we've ever seen

Bethenny Frankel is taking an online beating.

More: Bethenny Frankel did the right thing on RHONY, despite it going horribly wrong

The Real Housewives of New York star posted a photo to her Instagram, showing her wearing a tiny, white, lacy romper and a headband, captioned, "I nvr saw a romper i didn’t like."

Bethenny Frankel romper photo

Bethenny Frankel romper photo

Surprisingly the insane amount of hate in the photo's comments has nothing to do with the fact that Frankel is a mom wearing a romper that appears to be designed with Coachella in mind. It's all about her actions on the RHONY reunion show. And suffice it to say, viewers are not happy with Frankel.

More: The story of Bethenny Frankel throwing a drink at a concert is hard to believe

"Hate to say it, but you are one rude and hypocritical, miserable bitch @bethennyfrankel. I sure hope you find real happiness and stop being so awful," one commenter wrote.

Another wrote, "@bethennyfrankel do you purposefully try to dress innocently because you're such a monster bitch? My GOD this season has been painful. Jill Zarin needs to come back and bitchslap some sense into you. Gross."

More comments call Frankel every derogatory name under the sun and call her out for being BFFs with Andy Cohen, who basically runs the Housewives franchise.

"You sold your soul to Andy cohen..how sad. Your a bully!!" one wrote. Another added, "Your comment to @DorindaMedley said it all. That she 'didn't do @Juleswainstein any favors...to me that reads like you intend to have her fired from the show, and I find that truly repulsive. Are they all to kowtow to you as @caroleradziwill does? YIKES."

Regardless of how Frankel has acted on RHONY, fans need to remember that this is a TV show that shows only a tiny fraction of her real life. No matter what she does on the show, she doesn't deserve this kind of hate — no one does.

These Native American culinary staples are the original superfoods

$

0

It's easy for a lot of us to forget, but there was a rich culinary history already in place in North America before Europeans arrived.

So as summer turns to fall and the last harvests of the season occur, we're taking a closer look at some of the essential ingredients used by the American Indian peoples who lived off the plants and animals of the northern Midwest.

These foods are just some of the staples of the Dakota, Lakota and Nakota people of North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Iowa and parts of Canada, and of the Ojibwa, Menominee, Cree and other peoples of the Great Lakes region.

From wild grains to nuts and fruit, why not try incorporating some of these foods into your diet to appreciate the nourishing foods native to our country?

More: The Dakota Access Pipeline debate: 4 things you need to know now

1. Wild rice

Wild rice is a staple of the people of the Great Lakes region and Northern Midwest. This nutrient-packed grain, which is not directly related to the rices of Asia, has a nutty outer husk and fluffy interior. It grows in shallow lake waters and along stream beds.

Use wild rice to make poultry stuffing, grain salads or porridge; add it to soups and stews; or simply cook and enjoy on its own.

Where to find: Red Lake Nation in Northern Minnesota produces and sells hand-harvested wild rice.

2. Chokecherries, blueberries, wild plums and other berries

Foraged berries and fruits were an essential part of the diet of American Indian peoples of the North and Midwest.

Some of these fruits, like blueberries, were eaten fresh, while others, like chokecherry, wild plums and high bush cranberries were cooked and sometimes sweetened with maple syrup before being consumed due to their bitter, tannic flavor when raw. Fruits and berries were often dried in the summer to be enjoyed in the winter or were mixed with fat and dried meat to create pemmican, the original energy bar. (Pemmican is a mixture of dried meat and berries with rendered fat.)

Where to find: You can buy chokecherry syrup made, grown and hand-harvested by the Anishinaabeg of the White Earth Nation from Native Harvest or try some wild plum jelly from Red Lake Nation Foods.

3. Corn

Maize (corn), native to the Americas, was a staple of Midwestern peoples (and is still a huge crop in the Midwest today). Early wild maize was nothing like corn as we know it today, but through selective farming, American Indians were able to increase cob length and kernel size over thousands of years to create dozens of hearty varieties of maize.

Some varieties of sweet corn were eaten fresh, but more often corn was allowed to dry on the stalk, where it was then harvested and used throughout the winter. It could be added whole to soups, or could be ground into cornmeal and corn flour and then used to thicken stews, to make porridge or to make bread.

Other times, it was nixtamalized, which happens when dried corn or cornmeal is soaked in a solution made from lime (not the fruit, but a byproduct of limestone) or wood ash and water. The process makes the vitamin B in the corn digestible. Nixtamalization is also how corn is made into hominy and how cornmeal is prepared for tortilla making.

Where to find: You can try some of the non-GMO corn products grown by Ramona Farms on the Gila River Indian Community website.

4. Bison

Bison was an extremely useful animal to American Indians. Not only did just one bison provide hundreds of pounds of meat, but its bones, hide and fur could be used to create tools, clothes and housing materials, too.

Bison meat is extremely lean and protein-rich. Its meat was often dried into jerky, which could be eaten all winter or used to make pemmican.

Bison was almost hunted to extinction at the turn of the 20th century. The U.S. government had a campaign to eliminate bison as a means of committing genocide against the American Indian people who depended upon it for food.

It was only after the bison were nearly extinct (it's estimated only 100 to 500 of the animals were left by the early 20th century, down from nearly 40 million in the mid-1800s) that new conservation plans and individual ranchers stepped in to stop their disappearance.

Where to find: Today, bison meat is available in restaurants and grocery stores nationally and hailed as a healthy alternative to beef due to the fact that it is lean, high in protein and low in cholesterol.

More: Jerky is the satisfying high-protein, low-carb snack you've been overlooking

5. Potatoes and turnips

Potatoes and turnips were both farmed and foraged by the American Indians of the northern Midwest. These hardy root vegetables could be kept for long periods of time without spoiling, including through long winters. They were used in soups and stews, and also eaten on their own, boiled, mashed or baked in the fire.

6. Maple syrup

There was no refined cane sugar in this area before it was invaded by the Europeans. Maple syrup, made from boiling the sap of maple trees in the spring, was used instead. It could also be further reduced into a dry maple sugar or into a fudge-like candy.

Where to find: You can pick up maple syrup at just about any grocery store or farmer's market around the country. But Native Harvest sells hand-harvested maple syrup from the Anishinaabe of Northern Minnesota.

7. Honey

Honey was also used as a sweetener in everything from porridge to bread to pemmican. Try using it where you would use sugar to add an extra something special to your food.

8. Venison

Like bison, deer were used for more than just meat. Their hide and bones were incredibly useful for creating leather and tools.

Deer meat is also a very lean source of protein. It could be dried into jerky and eaten throughout the winter and on trips, be reconstituted in soup and stews or dried and added to pemmican (or simply eaten freshly cooked).

Where to find: Fresh wild venison can be hard to come by if you don't know a hunter. But there are a few sources online, such as Broken Arrow Ranch (Texas).

9. Hazelnuts

Hazelnuts and other foraged nuts were an important food source for the American Indian peoples of the northern Midwest. Nuts are high in protein and healthy fats, making them an ideal compact source of energy.

Some foraged nuts could be eaten raw, while others were dried or roasted and kept for eating throughout the year. Nuts could also be ground into meal or flour to create porridge, breads and cakes or be used to thicken soups and stews. Try adding ground hazelnuts to your oatmeal or experiment with them in a batch of cookies.

SNL just hired two new white guys — have they learned nothing?

$
0
0

Saturday Night Live is getting ready to launch its 42nd season, but just because the show has reached middle age doesn’t mean it’s done so with a ton of growth. The proof: Saturday Night Live just announced three new cast members, two of which are white guys.

More: The theory that Taran Killam was fired from SNL to make room is ridiculous

SNL revealed the addition of three new featured players on Monday, Sept. 12, Mikey Day (pictured above), a writer since 2013, Alex Moffat and Melissa Villaseñor. The announcement came just weeks after the show shocked fans by firing SNL fan-favorites Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah before their contracts were up. Around the same time, the show also let go of featured player Jon Rudnitsky, who had only been on the show for one year. Despite calls for diversity so loud Saturday Night Live was forced to host a last-minute casting session for a black female comedian only a few years ago (that’s how we got Sasheer Zamata and Leslie Jones, FYI), apparently Lorne Michaels and the minds behind SNL feel that two white guys can’t go without being replaced by two other white guys. It's a sad reality check, particularly since Saturday Night Live has, itself, poked fun at the lack of diversity in Hollywood.

SNL sketch — Screen Guild Awards

SNL sketch — Screen Guild Awards

Of course, the news isn’t all bad. Villaseñor is making history as the first Latina cast member in SNL history. Villaseñor, who was previously introduced to American audiences on Season 6 of America’s Got Talent, is no doubt a thrilling addition to the cast, and it could even be a sign that SNL is moving toward a more diverse cast. However, the fact that SNL still hired two white men is more than a little disheartening, especially considering the fact that one could make the argument that Villaseñor is just replacing another POC comedian. One could accuse SNL of trading in one of their three black male comedians (Pharoah) for a Latina, though that is a bit harsh on Villaseñor, who no doubt deserves her spot on the show by her own merits, not just her ethnicity. Still, the cynic in me sees these new hires as proof that SNL wants to keep its ethnic makeup consistent going into its next season.

Melissa Villaseñor Stand Up

Melissa Villaseñor Stand Up

More: Proof the new SNL writers will make the show smarter and, well, funny again

It would seem, perhaps, that the folks over at SNL don’t really get how increasing diversity works. If they were truly committed to making a show that wasn’t dominated by white men, then they would have to allow for some white men to leave the show without being replaced by other white men. That’s just how math works. Either the showrunners at SNL have forgotten what a diversity push means or they’re not attempting to diversify their cast any more than they already have.

Of course, as featured players, it’s likely we won’t be seeing a lot of Villaseñor, Day or Moffat, at least not at first. Funny or not, featured players tend to be stuck in the background at Saturday Night Live, and they have a tendency to get fired (see: Rudnitsky). Should firings occur after this season, the next time SNL has some hiring to do, let’s hope they take diversity more seriously.

The Sister Wives are looking to make some real change for polygamous families

$

0

As you may already know, polygamy is not a method of marriage that is used only in the household of Kody Brown and his wives on TLC's popular reality series Sister Wives. In fact, the idea of a man marrying more than one woman at a time is a common practice for a select number of families — oftentimes those who associate themselves with the Mormon religion — and is practiced both within and outside of the United States. And now Kody Brown and his four wives (Christine, Meri, Robyn and Janelle) are taking what originally began as a 2012 lawsuit against the state of Utah to a more national level: Their petition against the criminalization of polygamy is headed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Yep, a reality television show could be changing the ways marriage is viewed in the United States as we know it.

In fact, Brown and his four wives officially filed the request on Monday, Sept. 12 for the U.S. Supreme Court to hear their case for legalizing polygamy.

Now, before you begin passing judgment, it should be noted that nationwide legalization of polygamy isn't exactly what they're asking for. If anything, the Sister Wives stars are looking for justice in terms of their own religious freedom and the freedom of speech and to privacy in regard to the ways they are choosing to live their lives instead of constantly facing threats of prosecution or any other possible legal charges that may hang over what they refer to as their "spiritual union," making this the first time in over 100 years that the U.S. Supreme Court is looking at a case related to polygamy. Things just got really real.

More: Kody Brown and his sister wives are sick of being considered 'criminals'

But what brought them to this point? Well, after their 2012 case against Utah, Brown and his wives actually did take a step in the right direction for the polygamist cause. The federal court overturned Utah's bigamy law in 2013, therefore legalizing the idea of polygamy to a point where one could not be arrested because of it. However, when the cause they sued Utah for in the first place contained no backing, their case was thrown out in April 2016. And they will now be taking what began as a statewide ban onto the national stage as soon as a Sept. 10 hearing.

More: Sister Wives' Kody Brown reveals he wanted to quit the show

Meanwhile, the possible passing of the petition could also directly affect the already bonded family, as Brown has a legal contract with only one of his wives, Robyn, therefore resulting in what could be three more televised wedding ceremonies to legally bond the polygamist family as one if their petition goes as planned. And who knows? Maybe this could even be means for Brown to introduce another wife into their family. We'll just have to wait and see.

I want my kid as far away from her BFF as possible

$
0
0

I typically don't tell teachers their business. I'm not the one with a four-year degree, a license and countless years of experience in the classroom, so I tend to avoid walking into my kid's class on "meet the teacher" night and rattling off a list of demands and instructions that hilariously imply that my child is the only one they'll be with all year and that they are paid enough to act like it.

But there is one thing I rally for. One issue that I press with irritating importance. One request that is ignored, year after year, to the detriment of everyone involved: Please, please, split my child up from her best friend.

More: My sons masturbate and I'm not about to joke about it

I love the girl who holds the other part to my kid's cracked-heart BFF necklace. She is a sweet, fiery, bright, opinionated and kind girl. How could I not love her? She reminds me a lot of my own daughter. You know that saying about opposites attracting? Not in this case. Having my kid's bestie in my house is like having two of my own kid in my house. Her mom feels the same way.

And while it goes without saying that I love my own child dearly, you know what you don't want two of in one room when the goal is to learn and not to play? At a shared desk? Next to each other? Across from each other? My kid.

Every year, because some force in the universe hates me, my child and her friend are placed in the same classroom when they go back to school. Without fail, they're at the same desk. Every year, I pull the teacher aside and gently warn her: Do not do this thing. Split them up. Give my kid one of those horse blinker things, or drape her with a blanket like you would a noisy parrot, and don't even let on that her friend is within 5 miles. Trust me.

They never trust me.

I don't know what they see on paper. Two intelligent girls with good grades and no behavioral issues to speak of, probably. Which is great. But I know what they'll see within the first two weeks of school. Two intelligent girls, one who can't focus worth a lick and another who just loves the high-octane life of mile-a-minute anime recaps and verbal Minecraft tutorials. Girls that get louder and louder and louder. Girls that whip each other up and, though they may not mean to, take time away from cursive and fractions and papier mâché and spend it all on their own private world.

More: The 16 most brilliant things moms have ever done to get their kids to behave

They'll meet two biffies with a dynamic so tight it's impenetrable. One is a little too sensitive. The other is a little too protective. They'll find that as long as one has the other's attention, three isn't just company — three doesn't exist. Not even when three is Mrs. Three, heretofore known as the boss of you until next summer.

Inevitably this means they will also not meet my daughter — really meet her — until after they've grown accustomed to this version of her. Some of them, speaking from experience, will not take the disorder that we've been struggling to treat seriously; it will look like apathy, full stop.

They won't see how much she loves to learn or know that when she fails, it is not because she is a flighty, inconsiderate child who won't pay attention. By the time I am sitting across from her teacher again at the end-of-quarter parent-teacher conference, they will hand me a list of all the ways my child falls short, and they will place the blame squarely on her friend's shoulders. Maybe when her friend's mother walks in, she'll get the same talk.

They will note that now that they've corrected the issue by separating the girls, things seem to be improving. Let's hope it isn't too late for them to pull it together. They've got their eye on those two. This kind of thing is unacceptable.

More: Spoil your baby all you want, but there will be hell to pay

And I will agree with them. My child is not perfect. When she's side by side with her BFF, they aren't in the classroom or even in my kitchen after school — they aren't even on the same planet. And it is unacceptable. School is for learning. And yes, I'm sure it is improving now that you've separated them, which is what I begged you to do two months ago.

And I too will hope it isn't too late.

These pressure cooker accessories are going to change your life

Once you’ve gotten comfortable with a pressure cooker, electric or not, you slowly fall in love with it and use it more and more. Now you can venture into Insert Land and try even more recipes that you would have never thought you could pressure cook. Check out what you can do with these accessories.

More: 9 foods you didn't know you can make in a pressure cooker

1. Collapsible steamer

This metal basket with perforations can be set inside the vessel and can hold an assortment of vegetables to steam. Because some steamers are propped up on a little built-in stand, the trivet underneath is unnecessary. The liquid leftover from the steaming process can be used later for vegetable stock too.

2. Compartmentalized inserts

Stackable metal inserts can be used to cook multiple different types of foods for the same duration. Indians, traditionally masters of pressure-cooking, use one insert to cook basmati rice and another for lentils (to make dal recipes fast). But these compartments are useful for simultaneous cooking of many foods: vegetables, pasta, legumes and pulses, rice and desserts.

3. Instant Pot silicone lid

This Instant Pot silicone lid lets you take your cooked, one-pot meal from the cooker to the table, and later store it in the fridge without transferring the food. The lid seals tightly on the metal insert.

More: How pressure-cooking is different from slow-cooking

4. Round baking pans

You can insert springform pans to make cheesecake and smaller Bundt pans make a bundt-designed dessert or quick breads. Just measure the inside of your pressure cooker to get the right size.

5. Small custard cups or ramekins

You likely already have these in your cabinet. Individual flans and other custard dishes work well in the pressure cooker if layered properly. About six to eight 4-ounce ramekins could fit in two layers in most pressure cookers. Stack a set of four above another set of four with a trivet between them.

More: 12 reasons why pressure cookers are the new slow cookers

6. Aluminum foil

Here's another pressure cooker accessory you already own. Why foil? Foil strips make a great sling contraption for handling hot inserts inside a pressure cooker. There are fancier slings out there as well, but the foil will do just fine. Before you begin cooking, fold a long sheet of foil lengthwise into thirds and place your insert pan on top of it so each end of the foil strip makes a handle. After your food finishes cooking, you can use those foil handles to lift your insert pan out of the pot.

TLC faces another scandal: The Willis Family star arrested for alleged rape

TLC might want to reconsider their vetting process when sourcing new programming, because they've picked some people with seriously shady pasts to appear on their shows over the past couple years.

First Here Comes Honey Boo Boo got the axe after June "Mama June" Shannon was linked to a convicted sex offender, then there was the explosive controversy that enveloped the Duggar family. Now, TLC show The Willis Family has been canceled after being faced with a scandal of their own.

Willis family patriarch, Toby Willis, was arrested on Friday and charged with raping an underage girl in 2002, according to a statement released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, via Fox News.

"TBI Agents arrested the 46-year-old in Greenville, Kentucky, where he travelled [sic] in an effort to avoid law enforcement, and charged him with one count of Rape of a Child," the press release said. "The investigation into Willis remains active and ongoing."

Willis' mugshot has also been released, and his appearance is far from the shiny, happy face of a conservative Christian father of 12 talented country musicians who fans have come to know on the TLC show.

Official news of The Willis Family cancellation may have just now surfaced, but according to a People source, TLC had already planned to take the show off the air before news of Willis' arrest was made public.

"The family was alerted of the cancellation back in May 2016," the source said. "The network performed extensive background checks on all the family [members] and found no issues. Obviously this is something they were never aware of."

More: If Jinger Duggar actually gets married, you had better believe TLC will be there

All traces of the family have already been erased from TLC's website. "We are shocked to hear the news," the network said in a statement to People.

Sorry, but the details behind Alec Baldwin's fake painting dupe crack us up

Dear, dear Alec Baldwin. We hate to see bad fortune befall you, but the details about this latest misstep are kinda making us giggle.

According to Page Six, Baldwin is now involved in a bitter feud and lawsuit with New York's Mary Boone Gallery owner, Mary Boone, because experts recently revealed to him that a painting he purchased for $190,000 in 2010 is not authentic.

Baldwin had been interested in "Sea and Mirror" by Ross Bleckner for a decade, and "Ms. Boone told Mr. Baldwin she would look into obtaining the work from the collector who currently owned it," Baldwin's suit says, via Page Six. Boone obtained the painting for Baldwin for a nominal $15,000 commission.

More: Alec Baldwin probably doesn't want to look at his daughter's new photo spread

It's not necessarily the fact that Baldwin got defrauded that is amusing — obviously, getting ripped off for that much money is no laughing matter — but other tidbits sprinkled throughout the lawsuit filed by him reek of his 30 Rock character, Jack Donaghy.

In the papers, Baldwin somehow manages to work in his "multiple Emmy Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Screen Actors Guild Awards" and also says that he was originally skeptical of his purchase's authenticity because it "appeared brighter and smelled different than he would have expected."

More: This Fox News CEO lawsuit is exposing a whole lot more than sexual harassment

Can't you just see Jack taking a deep whiff of the painting and saying, "This smells... fake"? There's also the fact that Baldwin is suing Boone for more than three times what he paid her.

"Sadly, Mr. Baldwin’s decision to continue this personal attack is not surprising given his history of lashing out against anyone he believes is beneath him," Boone's lawyer, Ted Poretz, told Page Six. "Ms. Boone has no interest in misleading clients and we are confident that this frivolous and vindictive lawsuit will be dismissed."

More: Alec Baldwin's memoir: 9 taboo topics we hope he doesn't shy away from

The source of Baldwin's bitterness can probably be attributed to the fact that he had been longing to purchase the painting since 2006 — long before he finally got his hands on the alleged counterfeit — and even referenced the art at a 2012 Kennedy Center event honoring Paul McCartney, saying, "I love this thing so much," according to Page Six.

Do you think Baldwin's suit is funny or just sad?

Why would Meghan Edmonds ever visit Vicki Gunvalson in the ER?

I never thought I'd find myself defending Meghan Edmonds, but she has been at the center of far too much criticism during The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 11. Edmonds has her issues, but right now, she's not responsible for the majority of the drama on the show. She just wants to focus on her relationship with her husband — and their baby-making efforts.
Edmonds might not be eager to start drama, but tonight, she ended up doing so anyhow. As you may recall, she declined to visit Gunvalson in the emergency room during last week's episode — and her decision annoyed Heather Dubrow. According to Dubrow, it was heartless of Edmonds to not visit, especially since it wouldn't have taken that much time out of her day. I can see Dubrow's point, but I honestly don't think it's that big of a deal.
Vicki Gunvalson
Image: Bravo
As Edmonds admitted in last week's Bravo blog, "It was pretty hard to gauge the severity of the accident." Yes, Dubrow made it clear that Gunvalson was injured, but she didn't fully convey the severity of the situation. Keep in mind, also, that Edmonds had spoken to Kelly Dodd about the accident, and at the time, Dodd was actually laughing about it. Edmonds simply didn't think that the situation warranted a visit.

Think about it and be honest: If an acquaintance was involved in an accident and you didn't think it was that bad, would you drop everything and rush to the emergency room? Probably not. Hospital visits are for close friends and family members. It would be nice if Edmonds stopped by, of course, but her failure to do so doesn't make her a bad person.

Heather Dubrow
Image: Bravo
Honestly, if I happened to be in Gunvalson's situation, I wouldn't want an acquaintance with whom I have a history of drama barging into the emergency room. I suspect that Gunvalson would have appreciated a visit from Edmonds, but her latest tweets indicate that she and Edmonds are on at least somewhat good terms — so she must not be that offended. She even went out of her way to defend Edmonds last week.

I find it very perplexing that Dubrow is so offended by Edmonds' lack of an ER visit. Is this really worth compromising their relationship? Dubrow had best be careful or she could prompt the breakup of yet another Real Housewives friendship.

Amber Portwood's reunion with her cellmate reminds us of how far she's come

Perhaps because he's one of the most hated men on reality TV (or maybe just on Teen Mom?), or maybe because he's actually really into her, Matt did something really great for Amber on this week's episode of Teen Mom OG. For Amber's 26th birthday, he contacted her former cellmate, Nicole, and brought her to Amber's surprise birthday party. I do not recommend watching this scene without some kind of tear-absorbing apparatus nearby, because even if you don't think you're a sap, this might convince you otherwise.

More: Jenelle Evans finally confirms pregnancy, and she’s already picked a name

Amber was sentenced to five years in jail on felony drugs charges back in 2012 and served 17 months, getting released due to good behavior in November 2013. Amber coped with legal troubles, some of which stemmed from an assault caught during the filming of Teen Mom, struggled with drugs and alcohol, as well as her mental health, on-camera, and it was definitely hard to watch, especially because it meant an indefinite separation from her daughter Leah.

Since she left prison, Amber's transformation has been significant. She's no longer using, she's been working on repairing her relationship with Leah's father, Gary, and she looks great. (Reminder: Weight loss is not always an indication of physical or mental health.)

More: Is Farrah trying to patch things up with her former Teen Mom costars?

Nicole and Amber's reunion was super emotional, not just because there was crying, but because of one moment in particular, when Amber said, "We made it. We're the only ones." Apparently, out of all of the women she and Nicole knew in prison, they're the ones who haven't gone back. Amber credited Nicole with making her a better person, helping her make important changes. At the party, the two recalled that they had always planned to see each other again, but they couldn't have imagined the circumstances. There was so much joy between them and it definitely was a solid move on Matt's part to make the reunion happen.

That being said, Amber will always be emotionally fragile (you can be strong and fragile at the same time), and based on what we know about Matt, and information that keeps emerging, it's alarming that they're still together, although their engagement is suspended indefinitely, as Amber reported to Farrah a few episodes ago. Amber and Matt both have pasts they'd like to forget and it's not hard to see how that might provide glue for a relationship, but how long can that last? And what will the consequences be for Amber if this doesn't work out? After she's worked so hard and come so far, it would be awful to see it all fall apart.

Dancing with the Stars gets scary very quickly for Ryan Lochte

Tonight's Dancing with the Stars premiere performances were overshadowed by two protesters during the show who rushed the stage after Ryan Lochte's routine.

More: Rio really wants to make Ryan Lochte pay

CNN reports that while only two people made it onto the stage, at least four others in the audience yelled anti-Lochte chants. Lochte has been facing the negative aftermath of his Olympic scandal in which he admitted to exaggerating claims that he was robbed at gunpoint while in Rio.

And while Lochte is far from deserving of the American public's love right now, that doesn't mean people get to be disrespectful and disruptive.

DWTS judge Carrie Ann Inaba was clearly unimpressed with the troublemakers who came onstage uninvited.

"Excuse me," she said repeatedly while the camera stayed on her. ABC reportedly refused to air footage of the protesters, assumedly so as not to encourage future incidents with unnecessary publicity.

"So many feelings are going through my head right now," Lochte said when the show returned from break after security was able to get the situation under control, "I'm a little hurt."

More: Come to DWTS Season 23 for Ryan Lochte, stay for these 12 other celebs

That comment didn't help me feel sympathy for him, but I am, of course, glad the protest didn't go any further than just a rude interruption. I think Lochte has a lot more apologizing to do before he gets the country back on his side. I don't see him lasting long on Dancing with the Stars just because who will vote for someone who embarrassed the nation on a world stage? Of course, the show will probably want to keep him on for the sake of viewership since everyone is buzzing about what he'll have to say throughout the season.

I'm not sure I'm willing to give him a second chance. I was so disappointed by his actions at the Olympics because I felt that what he did took away from all the amazing, respectable athletes who made the United States look good in Rio. Thanks to Lochte, we just looked like assholes.

Maybe that world embarrassment is punishment enough for Lochte. And maybe, through DWTS, he'll be able to begin to make amends. But for me, it's just too soon to see him trying to win back the public. I'm actually surprised that DWTS even let him compete on the show, given that practically all of Lochte's sponsors back home quickly dropped him.

I think Lochte should have gone from the Olympics to some alone time for self-reflection, not back in front of a national audience.

More: Ryan Lochte wants DWTS to fix his image, but Hope Solo fans aren't having it

But just because Lochte needs to learn some manners, doesn't mean that those who are upset with him get to forget theirs.

Do you think Lochte will be the first voted off Dancing with the Stars or does he stand a chance at redemption?

You can blame Scientology for Maksim Chmerkovskiy & Kirstie Alley's sad feud

Kirstie Alley and Maksim Chmerkovskiy became tight when they were partnered up on Dancing with the Stars back in 2011, but it's been no secret for a couple years that their friendship is all in the past.

Though Chmerkovskiy has spoken about the rift publicly several times and it's been widely speculated as to what caused their falling out, he's never come right out to say what the true source of their shattered relationship is — that is, until now.

You see, it turns out there is one entity that Chmerkovskiy can place solid blame on: the Church of Scientology. He has officially been shunned by the controversial religion.

More: Katie Holmes' reaction to Leah Remini's ABC special is fascinating (VIDEO)

Kirstie Alley and Maks

"Scientology happened," Chmerkovskiy answered when Us magazine asked why he isn't friends with Alley anymore. "You can thank [my friendship with 2013 contestant and former Scientologist] Leah Remini for that. A note was sent to a friend telling me I was 'disconnected,' as in, I am no longer allowed to be Kirstie’s friend. I find it ridiculous for an adult human being to 'disconnect' from someone. But everyone is entitled to their own insanity."

Remini, as you may remember, famously ran screaming from Scientology a couple years ago and has been steadily exposing the horrors she experienced while involved with the religion ever since.

More: Tom Cruise is reportedly freaking out over Leah Remini's Scientology reveals

But just because Chmerkovskiy is officially "disconnected" from Alley at this point, that doesn't mean they are over for good. He also told Us that the estranged people in his life always have a way of finding their way back to him in the end.

"I may turn off a bigger percentage of people than I keep around," he said. "But over a period of, let’s say, 10 years, people all come back in some way, saying, ‘Hey, we haven’t spoken in a decade, but I understand where you’re coming from, and I want us to continue being friends.’ I have a 100 percent return rate."

What do you think? Is there still hope for Alley and Chmerkovskiy's friendship or has Scientology come between them for good?

The new arrival is a second son for the Baldwins, joining big sister Carmen Gabriela, 3, and big brother Rafael Thomas, 14 months. Leonardo Ángel Charles Baldwin was born in New York City Monday, and his mom announced the news on Instagram with a gorgeous picture of the newborn in her arms.

After centuries of being largely confined to the Latin culture, Leonardo has been rising steadily in the baby name chart since the 1950s and is now at an all-time high at No. 102.

A Spanish/Italian variation of the German Leonard, the Baldwins' choice may be a nod to his mom's Majorcan roots, just like their older children (Carmen is the Spanish variation of Carmel and Rafael is the Spanish variation of Raphael.)

Leonardo a strong baby boy name meaning "brave lion," and of course the name of the man considered to be one of the most creative people who ever lived, Italian Renaissance painter/scientist/inventor Leonardo da Vinci. The most famous bearer of the name in recent times is actor Leonardo DiCaprio, whose pregnany mother apparently felt her first kick while looking at a da Vinci painting in the Ufizzi Gallery in Florence, which inspired her to give her son the name.

RHONY's LuAnn de Lesseps & Bethenny Frankel need to stop fighting dirty

Bethenny Frankel and LuAnn de Lesseps are taking their feud to a new low.

More: The hate Bethenny Frankel is getting on Instagram is the worst we've ever seen

As viewers will know, Frankel and de Lesseps have been feuding on The Real Housewives of New York, and their fight intensified recently when Frankel revealed that de Lesseps' fiancé, Thomas D'Agostino, had kissed another woman while he was dating de Lesseps. De Lesseps retaliated by claiming that Frankel hooked up with Dennis Shields, who Frankel is now dating, while he was still married, which Frankel denies.

And now, Page Six says that it got a "sketchy" anonymous tip from someone claiming that de Lesseps and D'Agostino were getting down and dirty in a bathroom stall at a hotel in New York, saying that de Lesseps performed an "unspeakable sex act" on him for nearly an hour while passers-by could hear "audible moans" and "whispering in French." According to the site, de Lesseps thinks it's Frankel's friends who started the rumor.

More: The story of Bethenny Frankel throwing a drink at a concert is hard to believe

De Lesseps also says there's no way it could have happened because she was in Philadelphia for a funeral when it supposedly went down.

"Obviously a desperate attempt by the Housewives camp to ruin my reputation and my upcoming marriage," she said. "Not going to happen! It’s really sad how desperate these women can be. I think the show should be renamed The Desperate Housewives."

Sorry, LuAnn, that name's already taken.

More: Wait a second, Bethenny Frankel — is that throwback picture really you?

My kindergartner's photos don't need to be retouched, thanks very much

$

Navigating the gazillion options on your child's school portrait form requires the time and patience of a glorified soul. I am no such thing, which is why when my kindergartner handed me that bulging packet her first week of school, I marked off the second cheapest option (so not to seem as cheap as I actually am) and prepared to cut a check and find a place to stash all of those 2.5-inch x 3.5-inch pics (your kid can be pageant-cute, but I challenge you to locate six people who want to carry her photo in their wallet). As I skimmed the column to write $27 on the last box, I noticed an interesting offer. For an additional $5, I could check off the retouch box that would give the school photographer permission to erase my 5-year-old's facial flaws.

You know that feeling you get when someone's creepy uncle party-hugs you for 15 seconds too long? That's how I felt imagining the conversation that took place among the adults who thought retouching kids' photos is a solid money-making idea.

More: Babysitters deserve more than minimum wage — even for 'just watching TV'

Now, I understand this one photo form is probably the same one my daughter's school hands out to the fifth graders (some of whom are going through puberty and have the rare pimple or two). It's also the same form, I'm sure, they give to the neighboring high school students, 99 percent of whom probably feel they have hundreds of facial flaws they'd just love to obliterate.

It's one thing to offer tweens and teens a retouching option that zaps their acne and fixes uneven skin tone — and, in fact, I think it's a wonderful option. Going through life as a 15-year-old with raging hormones and a new body that doesn't feel completely yours yet is awkward enough; having to stare at a crater-size pimple on your cheek every day because your mom refuses to remove the "stunningly gorgeous" portrait of her baby from the living room coffee table is torture.

If digitally removing acne helps your adolescent feel better about himself, then I'm all for it. Hell, at this point, it would be refreshing to find out that's the only thing that has been retouched when we see flawless pics of celebrities in magazines. But the offer to "whiten" our children's teeth? To lighten the color beneath their eyes? Stop right there — because no child needs to be sent the message that his or her body isn't good enough for picture day.

More: Keeping your maiden name is all well and good 'til you have kids

Like lots of kids, including your child, my daughter is gorgeous. Her skin is flawless and shows no sign of living yet, which is expected of someone whose greatest life stress is choosing a doll to take to bed at night. She has a tinge of purple beneath her eyes that is noticeable because her skin is almost translucent. Chalk it up to genetics — those mini-circles never disappear, no matter how far back I push her bedtime. She has an under-bite that our dentist has already assured me will require braces in a few years. She may come out of puberty looking like Kaia Gerber — but there will be so-called flaws along the way that she may curse every time she sees a photo of herself.

And that thought makes me want to cry. We are taught to always be working toward some ideal of physical perfection that includes pearly teeth, smooth skin and zero traces of life's hardships showing up on your skin and your body and in your hair. The reality is, if any of us ever feel like we've achieved a heightened state of flawlessness, it can be whisked away from us in the next breath — because, literally, walk outside and the wind will show you how little it cares about your perfect hair.

These things we (or photographers) consider flaws in our children are merely signs of their genetic makeup (in the case of teeth and under-eye circles), and in the case of hormonal acne, beautiful signs that they are growing and maturing into healthy young adults. What's wrong with wanting to document their childhood, year by year, exactly how they are?

More: 12 kids whose lies were so good their parents couldn't keep a straight face

By all means, erase the pimples that will make your teen cry — in my opinion, her emotional health and self-esteem are far more important than holding firm to the belief that all retouching is wrong. But it needs to stop somewhere. Teeth? Eyes? In kindergarten (or high school)? Just hand my daughter a comb seconds before the bulbs are set to flash and remind her to smile. She's still young enough to love herself — that, and not more beige under her eyes, makes the most beautiful photo of all .

Exclusive: DWTS' Carrie Ann Inaba gives all the deets on that Ryan Lochte moment

$

Wow. What a night it was on Dancing With the Stars! I can’t believe we are starting our 23rd season. The cast and crew have been busy all week getting the stage together and preparing their dances for opening night. It has also been a busy week for me: choosing gowns, getting looks together for the season and presenting at the Creative Arts Emmys with Chris Parnell — which was something new for me. But before we go into that, let’s talk about...

What happened last night when Ryan Lochte danced

Lochte danced with Cheryl Burke (who has returned after quite a long hiatus), and while he wasn’t incredible, he showed up and truly gave his best. His body has been trained for swimming, and being upright in a ballroom hold is something very different for him. He will have to work hard against his own muscle memory to win our shiny mirror-ball trophy. But that’s the beauty of DWTS — It’s a level playing field for all who dare to dance. And Lochte did that.

More: Dancing with the Stars got scary very quickly for Ryan Lochte

Here's what you didn't see: While I was giving my critique of his dance last night, two men wearing white T-shirts with "Lochte" crossed out across the front slowly started walking across the stage — downstage of Tom Bergeron and Lochte — toward the judges' table and cameras. I think they just wanted their faces and shirts to be seen by the millions of people who watch our show; they wanted to voice their opinion of Lochte live on TV. America gives us the right to have free speech — we are very fortunate for this.

But there is a time and a place to exercise that right, and it is not during a television show that hundreds of people have worked very hard to put together. That's why I believe the cameras never showed them; we didn’t give them the airtime they desired.

Ryan Lochte DWTS
Image: ABC

Sure, the final product made me look like I was having some sort of episode by myself, saying, “Excuse me!" but I was trying to let security know there were people on the other side of the stage who shouldn't be there. I was looking in the opposite direction of everyone else so I saw them first, walking right toward me. It was a bit unnerving. As the men got closer, I knew something was wrong, so I alerted security by saying, “Excuse me” and “Back off!"

I knew that no one else was seeing these men, but I realized that they were up to no good. Our team quickly handled them and removed them from the ballroom. I cannot say for sure, but I believe the “hecklers” were wearing jackets over their "Lochte" shirts until he performed. Luckily, they got no airtime and everyone was safe. After they were removed, I looked up and saw a few women with the same shirts on. Derek Hough also saw them and pointed them out to security during the commercial break, and we had them removed as well.

More: Ryan Lochte wants DWTS to fix his image but Hope Solo fans aren't having it

Our show has a first-class security team, and we are all family. We take care of each other. I am grateful for our team, and I’m grateful no one was hurt. I felt bad for Lochte in that moment because I realized the Rio Olympics incident will always follow him, but it’s important for everyone to know that it's not the DWTS judges' job to judge other people — but only to judge performances. Lochte is just another contestant on our show and will only be critiqued for his performances on the ballroom dance floor. I hope that there is some solace and safety in that for him, and that he will be comfortable enough to remain on the show. It's my hope he will work hard like everyone else and stay focused on the task at hand, which is to learn how to dance.

Now, let's go back to focusing on the premiere episode

Val, Laurie DWTS
Image: ABC

DWTS is a show that encourages people to congregate, sit on the sofa with their friends and family and enjoy some good entertainment! The premiere was more than just the “Lochte Incident." We had some stellar performances by James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess, Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy, and Terra Jole and Sasha Farber. BabyFace Edmonds and Allison Holker — along with Vanilla Ice and Whitney Carlson, Marilu Henner and Derek Hough — gave good showings and impressed us all as well. We also got to know a few new folks who still have lots of time to improve.

The premiere was more exciting than anyone could have imagined, and the shining stars at the end of the night, Val and Laurie, really helped to lift the mood in the ballroom after what was a really uncomfortable situation. I think DWTS has a responsibility to be entertaining and to be a place for positivity. There is enough going on in the world right now that makes the DWTS ballroom a sacred space — a place where we try to keep it heartwarming and fun, inspiring and entertaining.

I will be blogging here on SheKnows all season. Aside from DWTS, I will also talk about personal things and beauty and fashion because I like to share my thoughts on more than just the dances.

More: DWTS literally has the craziest roster of contestants this season

Speaking of fashion, last night I was wearing a cheerful pink Monique Lhuillier gown (which had pockets — I love, love, love pockets! ) and some incredible jewelry from Jared Lehr, who I am quickly becoming a huge fan of.

I don't consider myself a fashion superstar, at all; however, I do love incredible jewelry. I often try to choose a clean, simple dress that we can accent in a unique way with the jewelry. I love finding special pieces to wear in my personal life or on the show. Jared Lehr is a newer jewelry designer (though he is the son of Sam Lehr), and I have the good fortune of being able to wear a lot of incredible pieces on red carpets and on our show.

Sunday night I got to wear a really special Tadashi Shoji white and black floral column gown to present at the Creative Arts Emmys (which will air this Saturday) with some stunning jewels by Le Vian, Mattia Cielo and Maxiór Joias.

Those pieces are one-of-a-kind, and designed to empower women to show off their own style. I love anything that is designed with the intent to empower women and showcase our strength. As people say, designs are like wearable art, and they were indeed empowering to wear. So, thank you to the designers who dress me and allow me to enjoy their incredible artistry!

Here's what's to come...

I also wanted to give you a sneak peek of my Emmy’s dress for next week. I’m excited to wear this dress:

Thanks to my stylist Jen Rade; I had so many beautiful options and it’s not always easy to dress me because I am not a size 2 or a 4! I’m a size 6 to 8 in real life, and not everyone likes to dress my size, but Jen always gets the best dresses for me and I’m grateful to all the designers who work with me and my “real woman” curves, which I'll talk about more in future posts… Until then!

The freak-out over this teacher's selfies is straight-up body-shaming

$

0

An Atlanta elementary school teacher has made headlines, but not for her teaching methods. Thanks to a pink bodycon dress and a pair of skinny jeans, she's gone viral, been labeled the "sexiest teacher alive" and even has her very own hashtag: #TeacherBae.

More: Kim Kardashian lashes out at trolls messing with her kids

Her real name is Patrice "Tricey" Brown, and she teaches fourth grade. She's clearly well-educated and she looks like she'd be a fun, enthusiastic teacher. But who cares about any of that when we can debate whether she's dressed inappropriately to teach a bunch of 9-year-olds?

In images posted to her Instagram account (which has now been made private), Brown wears a range of cute outfits. There's no cleavage in sight. All her skirts fall to the knee. So what's the big deal?

Teacher BAE 2

Teacher BAE 2

Let's be honest, this isn't really anything to do with what she's wearing. It's the shape of Brown's body — something she has no control over — that people are deeming "inappropriate." If she was a thinner woman without curves, nobody would have batted an eyelid. It's blatant body-shaming, and it's absolutely disgusting.

More: Headmaster's letter to teachers is actually genius parenting advice

Forget the form-fitting dress and the high-waisted jeans. What critics are really saying here is that Brown is too sexy to be a teacher. Take a moment and consider how ludicrous that is. Can you imagine hearing the same thing said about a male teacher? Can a man be too toned, too handsome, too tall to teach kids? No, because society only has a problem with a sexy woman also being intelligent or professional.

To the parents who wouldn't want Brown to teach their 9-year-old sons in case they are too distracted by her butt to learn anything: Your issues go way beyond a woman in a tight dress. Fourth graders don't desire the way adults do. In fact, many of them aren't yet at an age when they are aware of desire or even understand what it is. But in any case, it's perfectly normal for young boys (and girls) to develop crushes on teachers. Still, they're far more likely to have a crush on the little kid sitting next to them in class.

More: Police just served an 8-year-old with a restraining order

If we want our kids to grow up with a healthy body image, we have to be seen to support bodies of all shapes and sizes. We have to set an example to our sons and daughters by talking about the parts of a woman that can't be measured by measuring tape.

Brown's ability as a teacher is the only thing parents should be concerned about. It's interesting that these images of her aren't the ones that went viral over the weekend.
