Airdate for Mad Men's Season 6 announced

Absorbing AMC drama Mad Men, which won the Outstanding Drama Series Emmy in four of its five seasons, is coming back for a sixth this spring.

Jon Hamm, Matthew Weiner and John Slattery

Don Draper is coming back April 7, so get your classic cocktail glasses and vintage underwear ready for the premiere party.

Mad Men fans have been waiting with bated breath to hear the announcement of the start of the sixth season. That date is more fraught than usual, since Mad Men has aired at various times of the year, including one break in which the show didn't appear for a long, slow 17 months due to complex negotiations within AMC, the channel that airs the show, and Lionsgate, Mad Men's production company.

Fans feared another long break before the start of the sixth season, but a relatively short 10 months will have passed between the April 7 Season 6 premiere and the Season 5 finale, which aired June 10, 2012.

Still, 10 months is a long time to wait. Fans hoping to hear pre-premiere spoilers are mostly out of luck, though, because Mad Men's actors fear incurring the wrath of famously secretive showrunner Matthew Weiner if they reveal any plot points.

Elisabeth Moss, who plays Peggy Olson on Mad Men, said earlier this month that "about half" of the Season 6 episodes had been shot and they were "pretty amazing."

Weiner himself, who wrote the Season 6 premiere, said that the two-hour opening show is "different than last year's." Fans will remember that the Season 5 premiere was also two hours long and featured Jessica Paré as Mrs. Don Draper, throwing her husband a not-so-successful 40th birthday party highlighted by her sexy rendition of the French pop song "Zou Bisou Bisou."

Weiner insisted that viewers should be familiar with that premiere and the entire fifth season before diving in to Season 6. "You should know what happened at the end of last season before you see the episode. The whole season is in reference to last season."

Mad Men goes to the movies!>>

Weiner also said that the Season 6 premiere is "constructed like a film" and "foreshadows the rest of the season."

Fans hoping to catch up with Season 5 can watch all of it on AMC On Demand; episodes will also air each Sunday morning starting at 6/5c a.m. on AMC.

Weiner and AMC have agreed on an option for a seventh season, though they haven't officially announced it yet. Weiner claims to have an "endpoint" in mind for the series, but hasn't shared his vision.

What
do your fashion choices say?

Concerned about what that low-cut top will say to your date? Don’t worry — we called in the experts to find out for sure!

Low-cut tops and short hemlines

Tip: Learn how to stay classy in crop tops. Click here!

Anything too short or too low-cut says that you’re trying too hard and that you may be promiscuous, says Alan Au, VP of Jimmy Au’s For Men 5’8” And Under. "If you’re going to be fashionably provocative, wear a shorter skirt or a lower cut top, but not both at the same time. Pick one or the other.”

The “kitchen-sink” look

Believe it or not, guys don’t care about trends, notes Rebecca Raskind, VP of CLD Style House & PR and dating expert for the site ThreeDayRule.com. "You could be wearing every trend in the book — neon jewelry, spiked Jeffrey Campbell platforms, a leopard print jacket, harem pants and a cropped bustier — but unless this is your everyday style and you are completely confident in it, steer clear of mega-trendy items. Your guy wants to date you, not a street-style caricature.”

"Women who take better care of themselves and don't get lax with their looks
tend to have better relationships."

sweatpantsSloppy casual clothes

Yes, there are occasions where a more relaxed look makes sense, explains Raskind. "For example, maybe your date is taking you to a yoga class and then out to lunch or a baseball game. You would certainly look out of place in a skirt and heels here. However, you should still make some effort. Oversized sweats, a baggy hoodie, messy hair and no makeup communicates that you simply don’t care… at all.”

Super structured outfits

Women's clothing choices can communicate so many things to men, says fashion stylist and plus-size style expert Marcy Guevara from The Marcy Minute!"Sweats and a messy ponytail may send the message that you're apathetic, uninterested or aloof, while anything too structured or super polished can give off the impression that you’re high-maintenance. When going on a first date, it's important to show that you care enough about the date with good grooming and a nice outfit, yet that you aren't desperate. So save the LBD for a sexy night out or a special occasion.”

"When going on a first date, it's important to show that you care enough about the date
with good grooming and a nice outfit,
yet that you aren't desperate."

Lingerie

Attached? Dimitri James, CEO of Skinn Cosmetics and author of Naughty Makeovers for Nice Girls, urges women to always keep in mind the power of lingerie. "Your husband/boyfriend didn't get in a relationship with the cook or the cleaning lady — he married his girlfriend. Remember to turn it on for your mate. If he sees you walking around the house in old, frumpy sweats all the time, that's the way he’ll start to remember you. I believe that women who take better care of themselves and don't get lax with their looks tend to have better relationships.”

Oversized handbags

Leave the big bag at home! "It will unconsciously send the message that you're 'carrying baggage,’” says stylist Alexandra Suzanne Greenwalt, creator of Iconify Me and author of Secrets of a Fashion Stylist.

  • 3 golden delicious apples
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons flour
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Pinch of salt

A perfect day with Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough

Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough have adorable chemistry in this new exclusive clip from the Nicholas Sparks-inspired love flick hitting theaters next month. It's fresh love on a perfect day at the lake.

"...I tried to forget, I tried to put it all behind me, I tried to, you know... just look forward,"Josh Duhamel says in this exclusive new clip from the upcoming film Safe Haven.

He's sincere and he's finally branching out since his wife's recent passing. Although we can't spoil the whole story, one thing's certain: Julianne Hough has caught his eye and the sun over the gentle lake isn't the only thing warming his broken heart.

"I want [my kids] to know her," Duhamel continues. "So, we're just... we're just keeping our heads down. [I'm] getting to play mom and dad, which is... interesting. Just trying to keep it all together, really. But today, with you, this is probably the first time that I've looked up."

And wouldn't you know, Hough's lips curl around the edges and she replies, "It's a perfect day."

This may sound like something straight out of a Nicholas Sparks love novel — and maybe that's because it is.

If you're a Sparks buff you already know the story, but for those who haven't read it, Safe Haven is centered on the redemptive power of love. We caught up with the author a few months back and he went to great lengths raving about this piece and his excitement concerning the film's leads.

The role hits especially close to home for Hough, who recently shared her abusive past— making for an incredibly genuine portrayal on-screen.

Safe Haven hits theaters Feb. 14 and is sure to make the perfect viewing experience for you and your love.

Nashville recap: The thing about relationships

Rayna is on top of the world: She's back on top as country's reigning queen and record labels are fighting over her. So, why isn't she happy?

Nashville recap

Rayna's many men

It's good to be Rayna James right now: She's all anyone can talk about, thanks to her hit duet with Juliette Barnes. No matter that Juliette co-wrote the song — all anyone can do is fight over the country queen.

And that includes record labels.

An L.A.-based record label is courting her hard, thanks to her sexy co-producer Liam. It's obvious he has feelings for her, but she's still faithful to Teddy.

As for Teddy? Rayna is still keeping him at arm's length, telling him he's the one she picked, but she's still not sure what's going on.

Must be rough to have so many guys after you, Rayna. Except, maybe not all of the guys are after her: It turns out that Liam is trying to get her to sign on with a new label so he can get his own special imprint. Oops!

Juliette grows up… a little

Nashville recap

Juliette is used to being the one in charge, but she's all but invisible thanks to Rayna's rekindled popularity. She's obviously jealous, but there's no time for that now 'cause she has to deal with her mom's rehab and court date.

And who else is there to vouch for Mama Barnes? None other than the newly unemployed Deacon. Except, he's not really in any form to comment on someone else's sobriety, especially since Cy and The Revel Kings gave an interview claiming that their ex-guitarist fell off the wagon.

Musical karma

Seriously, when are Scarlett and Gunnar going to get it on?

For now, we'll have to settle for them as a musical duo — a testy musical duo. You see, Gunnar's still worried about his felon brother, especially since his bro absconded and is now a fugitive.

And Gunnar could be on the hook if big bro doesn't show up soon.

At least they still have music, right? They've teamed forces with Avery's old band — and now Avery knows it. It's lonely at the "top," huh?

Deacon's depressed

Deac hasn't fallen off the wagon, but he comes close one night — conveniently, the same day he has it out with Rayna over their past. Juliette runs over to console him — and, of course, get him to join her band.

His big question: Why does she have so much concern for him, but not her own mother?

"We're the same person," he said.

Ya think? It's time to put the past behind you, Juliette — and she's finally realizing it .

Oh, and as for that offer to join Juliette's band? Deacon finally took it.

Tu B'Shevat, known as the New Year for trees or Jewish Arbor Day, is celebrated by planting trees, enjoying nature and eating dried fruits and nuts, especially those of the seven species . This flavorful salad with pomegranate vinaigrette fits the bill!

Fruit and Nut Salad Recipe

Since Tu B'Shevat is all about the earth, it's only natural that fruits and nuts be eaten to celebrate the holiday. There isn't any one particular dish that's served, so anything from appetizers to desserts that incorporate these elements is suitable.

Plant a tree for Tu B'Shevat>>

This is far from your average salad. Despite all the fresh and dried fruits, it's not a fruit salad and is surprisingly savory with little bits of sweetness shining through. It's excellent on its own but also makes an impressive side to go with any meal.

Feel free to switch up any and all of the ingredients. Use your favorite nuts and dried fruits in place of the ones here, substitute pear for apple, feta for goat cheese or cranberry juice for pomegranate in the dressing.

Fruit and nut salad recipe

Serves 4 to 6

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red or white wine vinegar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
  • 1 tablespoon honey

  • 1/2 cup pitted and chopped dates

Directions:

Mom story: My daughter has robotic arms

$
0

Megan Lavelle’s determined to raise two strong and healthy daughters, Molly, 6, and Emma, 4. But for Emma, physical strength was always a challenge until Megan learned about a robotic device that could change Emma’s life.

My mom story

by Megan Lavelle
as told to Julie Weingarden Dubin

When Emma was born in February of 2008, she could only move her thumb. Her hips were dislocated, her knees didn’t bend and her feet were flexed and stiff. Her hands were clenched in a fist, but she could squeeze your finger. Emma was born with arthrogryposis multiplex congenital , a rare disorder that can affect muscle strength and limit mobility.

Slowly through infancy, Emma began to gain movement in some of her joints. As she grew and with countless hours of physical and occupational therapy and casting she gained some range of motion in her knees and elbows. Her hips were surgically placed in the sockets at 1 year.

Exploring science

Megan and Emma Lavelle

After Emma recovered from hip surgery, she began standing. We attended an AMC conference where we learned about the Wilmington Robotic Exoskeleton . As soon as my husband Andrew and I saw the WREX, we both turned to each other and said, “Emma could use that!” We were so lucky that this technology was being developed at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, in Wilmington, Delaware, just five minutes from our house. But no one Emma’s age, at 2, had ever used a WREX before. She’d be the youngest child to use this equipment, and many were unsure if it would even be beneficial. Andrew and I, along with our therapist, pushed for them to let Emma try it. Eventually, we got our wish.

Emma’s first reaction was typical for a child who spent more time with doctors than usual. She cried and was fearful. But we continued to use our therapy sessions to work with the engineers to create a device that was perfect for Emma.

Team Emma

During Emma’s first two years I cried a lot. I cried for the child I thought I was going to have, I cried for the child I gave birth to, I cried for the unknown, I cried during doctors’ appointments, I cried after. I cried during therapy sessions and during stretches.

Hey, Moms:
Do you know a mother with a great story? We’re looking for Mom Stories. Email Jrosewriter@gmail.com with your suggestions.

The WREX appointments were different. I think it was the first time I felt like I was part of the team that was helping my daughter. The feelings of fear and sadness and the unknown began to dissipate. I think it was a huge turning point for all of us.

With the help of the WREX, Emma began using her hands to play. She didn’t cry when we went up to play with “WREXy,” she loved it. It wasn’t therapy, it was fun. When we took the prosthetic off at the end of the session, Emma would cry and ask for it. It was incredible to see her move, she was so young and unable to communicate much at the time, however, she knew what she wanted to do with those arms. She knew how to play and what to do with the toys. I can’t imagine the frustration she must have felt being unable to lift her arms to stack blocks or play with any toy that required her to reach. The WREX eliminated that frustration. It was amazing to watch.

Moving freely

Lavelle Family

Eventually we were able to take a WREX home with us. When Emma began walking, a mobile version of the stationary WREX was created just for her. Emma became the youngest child to have a mobile bilateral WREX. She used it at home and now uses it at school.

She can use her arms to do so much more now and she’s able to experience things in a way she may never have before. She loves to use “WREXy” in her play kitchen and she often calls her prosthetic her “magic arms.” Emma can cut and paint on an easel. She uses the WREX to eat and for daily living activities. She is so much more independent when wearing the device. I am able to let her play instead of always helping her play.

My girls have taught me so many important lessons in just a few years. I’m so inspired by them. I’ve learned to be patient and not to rush these years away. I try to enjoy lazy days at home and to cherish the quiet time. I work really hard to be positive and to always give a smile to others. Being a mom is the hardest and most rewarding career! I can only hope that my daughters will learn to be smart, strong and healthy women when they’re grown.

  6. Dollop the top of each with taco sauce. Serve immediately.

How to have a slimmer Super Bowl

If you want to avoid going overboard while cheering for your favorite team, there are a few key things to remember. First of all, pay attention to what you’re putting in your mouth. “People just never seem to realize how many calories are in even tiny appetizers,” says Alexander. Those bite-size treats can add up in terms of calories, so be mindful of how many you eat. It’s also important not to show up to a party hungry. She advises starting the day with a healthy, filling breakfast of lean protein and whole grains.

The second important rule of a slimmed-down Super Bowl is to sip wisely. “Drinking too much leads to eating too much because your inhibitions are lessened, so be mindful of overdrinking,” says Alexander.

Blueberry margaritas

Bonus: Make some of these blueberry margaritas for guests from Alexander’s The Biggest Loser Dessert Cookbook.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup gold or silver tequila
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1/4 cup light agave nectar
  • 24 ice cubes
  • 4 lime wedges for garnish

Directions:

  1. Put the blueberries, tequila, lemon and lime juices, agave and ice in a blender with ice-crushing ability. Blend on high until the mixture is smooth.
  2. Divide the margaritas among four 12-ounce glasses and serve immediately.

Super Bowl diet dos and don’ts

Stay on track and avoid going overboard on Super Bowl eats with Alexander’s dos and don’ts for a slimmer Super Bowl

  • Don’t: Pile veggies with tons of fatty dips.
  • Do: Use center-cut or turkey bacon instead of full-fat bacon.
  • Don’t: Put bowls of chips and chocolate on the tables in front of you. It’s better to have a table with food and have to serve it on to plates, so mindless “picking” is decreased.
  • Do: Make your own food instead of ordering take-out.
  • Do: Use Greek yogurt in dips instead of sour cream.
  • Don’t: Put out all the food you have for the party all at once, people will see more food and eat more food;  instead, gradually replace your dishes as they need it.
  • Do: Stock up on baked chips instead of the fried ones.
  • Do: Use fruit as the base of your drinks.
  • Do: Use lean ground beef and pork if you’re using those meats.

Did Kris Jenner beat the hell out of the Kim Kardashian?

The widow of Robert Kardashian claims Kris Jenner used to beat the tar out of her kids and even abandoned them on Christmas.

Kris Jenner Kim Kardashian

The widow of Kim Kardashian's father is making shocking new claims that Kris Jenner beat the kids and abandoned them for days at a time — even on Christmas — in favor of her lover.

Ellen Kardashian released what she claims are handwritten journal entries by the late attorney that paint an evil portrait of a mother who was careless at best and abusive at worst.

See Kim Kardashian's new love shack>>

"Kris was kicking and beating her and said she was going to kill [Kim]!" reads an entry dated Aug. 24, 1989. "Kim was hysterical. Kris then got on the phone and said, 'Kim if you don't get up here right now you are dead!'"

Kim would have been 8 years old at the time.

The diary also makes damning claims that Kris would leave the kids, all under the age of 11 at the time, alone for days to share trysts with her young lover, former soccer player Todd Waterman.

"She doesn't leave a number in case of emergency. She doesn't care!" reads a Dec. 15, 1989, entry. "She left [the] kids and screwed all night!"

Kim Kardashian will still be married when she has Kanye's kid>>

Ten days later, there are claims that "Kris couldn't get her act together" to spend Christmas with the family and that Robert "was home alone with 4 kids."

Kris admitted to the affair in her memoir Kris Jenner… And All Things Kardashian, but a rep for the famous family denies all the other claims. "We have no knowledge of these diaries existing and these accusations are ridiculous and not true," a spokesperson said.

But the widow, Ellen Kardashian, stands by the authenticity of the diaries, which she shared with InTouch.

"These are authentic handwritten journals I have shared, that my late husband Robert Kardashian so carefully wrote during 1989 and 1990 at a most trying and touching time of his life. They are my personal possessions and he left them to me on his passing."

Music review: Emmy Rossum, "These Foolish Things (Remind Me of You)"

Emmy Rossum is not a stranger to Hollywood. With a Golden Globe and MTV Movie Award nomination, as well as a Critics' Choice award, it's safe to say she's talented. But does she successfully cross over into the music industry with her latest song?

Emmy Rossum

The beautiful Emmy Rossum is best known for her role on the Showtime series Shameless. Her delicate and feminine features combined with her grace give her a glamorous appeal when she walks the red carpet.

Is this a new musical ad-venture?

Hardly the case! In 2007, Rossum was featured in USA Today, and discussed her cultivated music background, her stint with Phantom of the Opera in 2004, and her fascination with creating music again when she was 21 years old.

In the article, she talked about her debut album Inside Out, and her choice to not take on an opera-oriented style, but instead categorize her music as "ambient pop."

While audiences may be surprised to hear she had an album and a musical talent that seemingly is hidden behind her other numerous abilities — this new album, titled Sentimental Journey , is out on Jan. 29, and should spark a lot of interest.

New album, new sound

E! Online says the album "comprises of a collection of covers of classic hits from the '20s to the '60s." Her voice is nostalgic to a period far beyond her years, and entirely foreign to music on the radio. She isn't a Bing Crosby, but her old Hollywood sound is refreshing. In a sea of conformity and likenesses in musical genres everywhere, it begs the question: Who do you know that sounds like that anymore?!

This track, "These Foolish Things " has been sung by Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, and the glorious Michael Bublé. She gives this a feminine, airy, and sultry spin that makes this a cover I will go back and listen to time after time. It piques my interest in her as a musician, and certainly makes me want to purchase her album!

In another tidbit from E! Online that proves impressive is: "the 12-song track list... was recorded in three days"! That is no easy feat, and certainly warrants a commendation for the level of quality she still is able to retain.

What do you think readers? Does she deliver or should she stick to acting?

Moms with a cause: Sending dreams to Ghana

Kary Doerfler, mom to three teenagers and co-founder of Dreams for Orphans, discovered that she was a mom with a cause through her work as a flight attendant. And now, having raised nearly enough money to fund a new orphanage in Ghana, as well as improving education opportunities and living conditions for the children there, Kary and Dreams for Orphans is making a difference in Ghana... and beyond.

Finding her cause in flight

Kary Doerfler, co-founder of Dreams for Orphans, discovered that she was a mom with a cause through her work as a flight attendant.

And now, having raised nearly enough money to fund a new orphanage in Ghana, as well as improving education opportunities and living conditions for children there, Kary and her organization are making a difference in Ghana... and beyond.

On a vision for Ghana... and her own family

It was nearly seven years ago that mom, Kary Doerfler, starting thinking about the orphans of Ghana. In her work as an international flight attendant, Kary and her family, including three children, Lexi, Ryan and Taylor, had traveled the world together. Her interest in Ghana and the children there started simply — donating items that another charity needed for the orphanages that they were supporting. Eventually, the founder of that charity pressed Kary into doing more. Kary tells us, "He finally looked at me one day and said, 'You're never going to go, are you?' and he was right. I was scared to see it in person and afraid of what it would open up."

Kary Doerfler in Ghana

But, Kary did go and in 2010, co-founded Dreams for Orphans, a charity that benefits the children living at the Osu Children's Home in Accra, Ghana. Now entering its third year as a nonprofit, Kary and the dedicated grassroots team at Dreams for Orphans have raised enough to begin to make a difference in the lives of those children — some of whom Kary met on her first visits to the orphanages in 2006 — making the commitment to create educational opportunities and safe environments for them.

For Kary, the vision for Ghana reaches beyond what she envisions for the children at Osu, but also extends deeply into the lives of her own children and her life as a mother. "I wanted my kids to see the world — to really see the world — and to understand the way the rest of the world lives," Kary shares. And now, Kary's children and her husband, Mark, are her partners and biggest support system in Dreams for Orphans, helping to raise money, throw fundraisers and often traveling with her on Kary's monthly visits to Ghana.

On making a difference from across the globe

Kary will be the first to admit that trying to manage a charity from the other side of the world is not easily done and without a dedicated team on the ground for Dreams of Orphans in Ghana, it can be difficult to keep things moving forward.

"Kary hopes that building the nursery will be just the beginning for what Dreams for Orphans can provide for the orphans of Ghana."

The project that Dreams for Orphans is dedicating their efforts on currently is raising the money to build a new nursery for Osu Children's Home, which is desperately needed to improve the current living conditions of the orphans, plus to offer the highest quality care for newborns and infants who need additional assistance to thrive, many of which have been born prematurely.

Kary hopes that building the nursery will be just the beginning for what Dreams for Orphans can provide for the orphans of Ghana. "I realize that it's a process that is one step at a time," Kary shares. "I look at some charities that have been around for a decade and am amazed at all of the work they're doing and hope that we'll be there someday too because there is so much that these children need. But, we'll get there. I know we will."

On how it's all connected

During our discussion with Kary, she was telling us about the amazing people that she's met while in Ghana who are also there doing charity work of their own. We loved her vision that brings all of these charities together. Kary says, "Whether you're there to help with water or education, it all ends up benefiting the orphans. And, improving the lives of these kids will improve Ghana as a whole in the long-term — they'll be healthier and better educated. We're all working toward the same goal, no matter what your specific cause."

On supporting Dreams for Orphans

Keep an eye on the Dreams for Orphans website and Facebook page for upcoming opportunities to help benefit the orphans they support in Ghana or contact Dreams for Orphans to learn about how you can help or become an Ambassador. Lady Gaga "cannot wait" to cut album with Tony Bennett

The strangest duo on earth pairs up again. Lady G. and Tony B. will make an album together. Would you buy it?

Lady Gaga to record with Tony Bennett

Lady Gaga has announced via Twitter that she and Tony Bennett will pair up for a brand-new album.

Lady G tweeted from Tuesday's inaugural ball, "I had the most amazing evening with The President, First Lady & The Whitehouse staff."

She went on to post multiple pictures from the glamour night's event. Finally, she posted a picture with 86-year-old crooner, Tony Bennett, saying, "And here's me and my handsome date. I simply cannot wait for our album together, he's my darling!" Eek!

An album wouldn't be Mother Monster's first stab at singing the kind of classic songs Bennett is popular for covering. She actually did a duet with him on "The Lady Is a Tramp" for his album, Duets II in 2011.

She's also been known to sing the classics on other occasions, too, including the television Christmas special she did awhile back. Gaga can do classy just as well as she can do "creepy."

Here's a look back at her crooning with Tony...

As for other duets, let's not forget her awesome pair-up with fellow inauguration-goer Beyoncé on "Telephone."

Aside from any work Lady Gaga is doing with Bennett, she's also about to release a brand-new solo album, ARTPOP. She first began recording the album in 2011 and continued work on it throughout 2012. While no official release date has been announced, the album is set to be released in two volumes sometime this year.

We can't wait for either project from Lady Gaga, as long as it's some new music. Which are you more excited for?

Country singer Chely Wright expecting twins

It's been a tumultuous few years for country singer Chely Wright, but it's all worth it: She's now pregnant with twins — at 42!

Chely Wright and wife expecting twins

Country singer Chely Wright has some seriously happy news: She's expecting twins with wife Lauren Blitzer-Wright. The "I Already Do" singer broke the news Wednesday night during an interview on the YouTube series Gwissues.

"They are due in July, but with identical twins you typically have to deliver a month early," the 42-year-old singer said. "So, we're anticipating that I will be as big as a… bus or A-frame house by June."

Wright married Blizter-Wright, a marketing exec at Sony Music Entertainment, in August 2011 — just a year after coming out in her autobiography, Like Me.

"There had never, ever been a country music artist who had acknowledged his or her homosexuality," Wright told People in 2010.

That didn't stop her, though.

"Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment I decided to come out," she continued.

Even if it did cost her the relationship with her mother.

"From the day that I officially came out, on May 4, 2010, many people that had been fans aren’t anymore. My mother did not take it well at all and we don’t speak, and that was a cost,"she told Anderson Cooper in 2012.

However, the happy couple is excited to start their own family.

"We feel like God blessed us with twins," Blitzer-Wright said in the Gwissues interview. "We feel our entire relationship has been blessed. We feel lucky and ready to take on the challenges."

"We're excited to be parents," Wright continued. "We hope we don't mess it up too badly."

Matt Damon has kidnapped Jimmy Kimmel!

Have you seen the preview for an upcoming episode of Jimmy Kimmel? Looks like he finally has time for Matt Damon.

Matt Damon to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live

For years now, Jimmy Kimmel has ended every show with the same line. He looks into the camera, doing his best to look regretful, and says, "Apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time."

On one hand, it seemed a little like a burn. Kimmel had time for all sorts of other actors, but they always "ran out of time" for a Matt Damon segment. The truth was far from it, though.

Aside from the cliche "save the best for last" business, Matt Damon was just so huge. The real joke was more along the lines of, "We got these other guys, but we still don't have Matt Damon."

In the early years of Jimmy Kimmel Live, they probably couldn't get him. Later, it most likely seemed like too funny of a streak to break... even for the ratings an interview with Damon would surely earn.

Through the years, there have been funny little projects together. Damon played along and did a sketch with Kimmel's then-girlfriend Sarah Silverman, where they pretended to be having an affair. Later, the boys staged a fistfight.

For the first time ever, though, it looks like Kimmel will finally have time on his show for Damon. If only because Kimmel won't actually be there. Just watch this clip...

You know... Matt Damon is pretty good at being creepy! Sure, we all probably prefer him to continue playing kind-hearted, swoon-worthy guys. But, I wouldn't mind seeing a little more of his darker side.

Whether Damon will actually appear on the show for an interview or whether he'll be there without Jimmy will be a big surprise for the night. No matter what, though, we're glad the two boys have found time for each other.

Jimmy Kimmel Live with Matt Damon airs tonight at 11:35/10:35c.

That's right, these cheese-stuffed meatballs are downright sexy! One bite and you're taken from... ordinary... to extraordinary!

Cheese stuffed meatballs

Kids love these! Surprise and delight your family tonight with this simple and out-of-this-world cheese-stuffed meatball recipe!

Cheese-stuffed meatball recipe

Yields approximately 10-12 regular-sized meatballs

Ingredients:

  • 1-1/4 pounds ground meatball or meatloaf meat
  • 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 pieces white or whole wheat sandwich bread, cut or crumbled into tiny pieces
  • 1 large egg white
  • 6-8 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large bowl, with clean hands, mix together the meatball meat, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, crumbled bread pieces and egg white. Once mixed together well, begin forming the meat into meatball shapes but pressing your thumb into the middle to form a hole .
  2. Once you have used up all your meat and formed your "meatball bowls," stuff the meatballs with a good chunk of cheese and form the meat up around the cheese to completely enclose the cheese into the center of the meatball. Roll meatball around in your hands to make it smooth on the outside. Continue until all cheese-stuffed meatballs are formed.
  3. Coat a 10-12-inch cast iron skillet or frying pan with olive oil and heat over medium-high for 1-2 minutes. Add your cheese-stuffed meatballs to the hot pan in batches . When you first place them in the pan, leave them undisturbed about 2 minutes and then begin to roll them around with a spatula to brown on all sides, about 6 minutes total.   Your subsequent batches may brown quicker as the pan will already be very hot.
  4. Remove browned meatballs from the pan and place them in an ovenproof casserole dish with low sides. Place browned meatballs in the oven for about 12-15 minutes or until they are cooked through, hot and the cheese in the center is melted. Let rest a few minutes. Serve cheese-stuffed meatballs hot over your favorite pasta, on a sandwich or as is with simply a fork.

Managing college and kids

Raising kids while you are going to college is a unique challenge — it’s unlike working outside the home in many ways, and it can be extremely difficult to manage and prioritize your time. However, there are strategies that parents can employ, and ways to work around your kids’ schedules.

Schedules, homework, studying, lectures, labs, textbooks... all are icons of college students, and that arsenal of tools for success doesn’t change because you’re a parent. If you’re contemplating applying to an institution of higher learning, or you’re neck deep in a course of study already, here are some tips that student parents passed on that helped them be successful.

Make use of the time you have

You already know that your child’s naptime or bedtime is an excellent point to get stuff done — whether it’s housework, catching up on your favorite TV shows or putting pen to paper for school. But many moms report that homework is easier outside of the home. Studying or doing homework at home can be difficult if not impossible, especially if you have young kids, so try to pack in as much as you can in between classes while you’re still on campus, instead of planning to do homework at home. “I have to use my breaks between classes wisely, as I can't get any schoolwork done at home,” said Vicki, mom of two young girls.

Take your kiddo to class?

This is a suggestion that will not work for every child, nor every professor. When you take a child to class, you not only have to worry about taking care of your child’s needs, but the learning environment of those around you. “I took Olive to class from 48 hours after birth until she was 6 months old,” Vicki shared. “It was very challenging to do that. I had a hard time balancing learning with attending to my baby's needs and with ensuring that I was not a distraction to my classmates or professor.”

Get help

You will likely need to rely on family and friends, and possibly hire a babysitter. Sarah, mom of two, recommends that college-student parents accept help when offered — you don’t have to be a martyr to be both a good student and a great parent. “Don't be afraid to accept help from family and friends when offered, even if you find them annoying, and if they are not the ideal Mary Poppins caretaker ,” she told us.

Consider online classes

Many colleges and universities have courses that you can take online. The format will differ, but it really alleviates the pressures of needing childcare or having a baby who breastfeeds. “I took a lot of online classes and got most of my studying for the first year done after my husband and daughter were in bed, because I couldn't concentrate while she was awake,” shared Brittney, who is expecting her second child.

Take time for yourself

You might imagine that taking time for yourself is a distant impossibility, considering the amount of work, juggling and stress that you deal with on a daily basis. But the moms we spoke with insist that the benefits of “me time” are worth it. “I find that I can concentrate on my school work so much better, and feel more like an actual human being if I spent an hour beforehand painting my nails and watching a trashy TV show,” Brittney told us. “I can't always fit it in, but when it's possible I make sure that I do!”

Sofia Vergara and fiance are in couples counseling

The actress was embarrassed on New Year's Eve after a fight involving her fiance, so she is making sure he is the one by asking him to go to couples counseling.

Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara is engaged to be married, and to her that means making sure he is the one. According to witnesses, Vergara and her husband-to-be Nick Loeb were involved in a very public fight recently, and Vergara is doing something about it.

"She decided they needed professional help before she would walk down the aisle," a friend reportedly told the Star. "They had their first session over the phone — and so far, so good!"

According to news website AZ Central, it all started with a night out in Miami.

“Nick was kicked out of exclusive Miami hotspot Story on New Year's Eve after a heated argument broke out in the VIP area when Sofia posed for a photograph with a fan,” according to the website. “Nick got into a dispute with a nearby table and after a scuffle broke out security guards grabbed him and threw him out of the back door of the club with Sofia following him out.”

But in the scuffle, it became very personal for the Modern Family actress. During the fight, Vergara’s breasts became exposed, not only in front of other partiers, but in front of her 20-year-old son, who was also there.

"In the early hours, Nick got into a dispute with somebody at a neighboring table. Some pushing and shoving started," a witness said. "Sofia stepped in to try to calm the situation, but somehow she ended up getting pushed and shoved also. Her strapless dress was torn or pulled down in the melee, exposing her cleavage in front of other people and her son Manolo who was so offended he left the club. It was crazy."

Even though the couple reportedly made up for the night, the incident was apparently enough to convince Vergara to ask Loeb to start attending couples therapy. There has been a lot said about the 40-year-old actress being single, but it looks like it’s because she wants to make sure it’s right. She is doing everything she can to make sure he is the one.
