Lindsay Lohan's pal wants you all to stop speculating about her, like now

0
0

It's clear that Lindsay Lohan regrets making her drama with fiancé Egor Tarabasov so public, but the reports about her relationship status and the possibility of her being pregnant with Tarabasov's baby continue to swirl.

More: If Lindsay Lohan really were pregnant, would she really be smoking on a yacht?

Which is perhaps why Lohan's friend, Hofit Golan, decided to come to her defense and put an end to the speculation.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, Golan posted a photo of herself and the actress sitting on a small boat in the water. She captioned the post with a thoughtful message about not making assumptions when you don't have the full story. "#timetospeakout. There's no truth to any of these speculations and stories," she wrote. "With all due respect, What you don't see you don't know. It's about time someone stands up for a very good person, friend, daughter and fiancé @lindsaylohan (Ranjeet) "Be careful with your words...Once...they are said....They can only be Forgiven... NOT FORGOTTEN" #stopspeculating."

It's a statement that Lohan will no doubt appreciate because the constant reports and speculation about her life must be hard to swallow. It's also great to know that she still has friends who are willing to publicly defend her.

Except not everyone is ready to forgive Lohan for her Instagram accusations.

Golan's post is filled with angry comments from people who think that Lohan has a lot of apologies to make and a lot of growing up to do.

"Ya can't run from the drama you created forever Lindsay," loonylindsayily2 commented. "You had a great guy and you screwed that up and Dasha [Pashevkina] will no doubt take you to the cleaners through court!"

More: We're pretty sure Michael Lohan wasn't supposed to out Lindsay Lohan's pregnancy

"Are you talking about Dasha forgiving the words and accusations Lindsay said about her?" l0velight0 asked, adding, "And Egor forgiving the the [sic] words and accusations Lindsay said about him? She said all those very hurtful and nasty things about them in public. She needs to do the honorable thing and apologize publicly to both of them."

Dammitgumby was also angered by the statement Golan made, writing, "You are kidding, right? I have 3 days worth of posts by your sweet friend. Posts and comments. Dasha and Egor deserve public apologies for the terrible things said by your cracked out buddy. She has yet again shown her true colors."

Do you think these commenters are right? While the rumors about Lindsay Lohan definitely do need to stop, was the public statement (which she made on Instagram on Tuesday) about her actions enough? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

Parental Advisory: STFU, Parents lays down the rules for (not) oversharing

0
0

Hello, and welcome to the new STFU, Parents advice column! For those who aren't familiar, STFU, Parents is a submission-based site that mocks, analyzes and discusses trends in "parent overshare" on social media platforms. I always keep the submitters and submissions anonymous, and that's how questions submitted to this advice column will work as well. The idea is never to "name and shame"; it's to consider common online parenting behaviors, ask the hard questions (like, "Why do parents post aerial pictures of their kid's poop in the potty?") and hopefully have a few laughs in the process. For this column, I want to tackle some seven-plus years of questions that readers have sent to me, because it turns out a lot of those questions are universal.

More: I never should have let my kids be in the room when our cat died

Have you ever wondered if you're the only person who loves their sister in real life but hates her posting habits on Facebook? Have you felt enraged by a friend who posts anti-vaccine rhetoric but aren't sure if you should defriend them because of your preexisting relationship? Have you been friended by a bunch of toddlers (aka your friends' kids) who "post" regular updates on their own Facebook pages but don't even know how to read?

For nearly a decade, most of us have embraced social media in a meaningful way on a daily basis, and our relationships to sites like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter have become as real as the relationships we forge in real life. Millions of people have grown up online, changing their status over time from "single" to "married" and/or "having kids," which can greatly influence posting habits. If you're a person who engages with social media (and most of us are), then your relationship to your friends' and relatives' online personas has likely evolved, and sometimes that can mean scrolling through your news feed and repeatedly asking yourself, "Why the hell did that person post that?" If this is you, or if you simply enjoy reading advice columns, then Parental Advisory is here to entertain and hopefully inform too. Let's get started!

Q: What are the warning signs to look out for that you might be one of those oversharing parents who annoys their friends?

A: This answer isn't as obvious as it seems. Several years ago, people didn't use likes as currency as much as they do today, so an unpopular post (or person) was easier to spot. Today, things are more complex. First, there's the algorithm issue. For your posts to show up with regularity in hundreds of friends' Facebook news feeds, you have to post consistently. So a post with only four likes might be unpopular, but it also might not be seen as much as other posts are if the person doesn't post all the time. Parents, however, don't usually fall into this category, because they love sharing anecdotes and pictures of family life, so their updates usually get good exposure.

There are also a lot of people on Facebook who are recent parents and whose friends are recent parents, so even if those people previously had nothing in common other than having attended the same high school, they now have "raising a family" in common. They may have avoided one another in real life for 20 years, but suddenly, on Facebook, they're best friends. They will always like one another's pictures of their kids wearing back-to-school outfits. They will commiserate together when their kids are potty training.

They've narrowed down their common interests to the most basic elements of life — like members of Greek society who become lifelong "brothers" and "sisters" because they happen to attend the same university — and that can make determining who is actually oversharing versus who is genuinely "liked" difficult to ascertain. For that reason, I would say a person's "likes" have to exceed 50 or even 100 on a regular basis to determine if they're sincerely well liked. Anything below 50 could just be family, close friends and those so-called "best friends" who trade likes with one another all day, which isn't an accurate overshare barometer.

More: 34 apology notes from kids who are totally sorry, not sorry

The answer, then, is that the numbers can lie. The only real way to know if you might be an oversharing parent is if you measure your posts by a series of standards and adhere to certain "rules." The primary rule, above all else, is to ask yourself if what you're posting could be considered overshare. By doing that, you're already ahead of the majority of parents on Facebook. Hardly any parent asks themselves this question, because they don't want to know the answer. If you want to share a detailed poop story only because you think it's hilarious, you can't ask yourself if it's worth sharing with your whole network, because the answer will be no.

Image: STFU Parents

The answer is that you should post on a private parenting group page where parents can exchange excrement tales like old war stories with abandon. When in doubt, post in a parent group. Don't have one? Join or start one! There are at least 500 million parent group pages, by my rough calculation, and that is where all the overshare should go. There's no shame in sharing poop stories, unless it's with the hundreds of people you're friends with who don't care. Narrow that number down considerably, join a parent group, and stop convincing yourself that everyone else in your regular Friends list is missing out. Trust me, they're not.

Next up: Rule 2

{pageBreak}

The second most important rule to adhere by is "make it funny." Do you have the magical ability to turn an average, boring or terrible parenting story into one that makes your friends laugh? That's what we're all here for. If you're the funniest parent in your Facebook feed, everyone will love you, and I'll consider you my personal hero. A good example of this from my personal feed is my friend Raquel D'Apice, who writes the humor blog The Ugly Volvo. Raquel needn't worry about whether her friends think she overshares, because she's too busy making them laugh to wonder.

If you approach social media with the attitude that your friends and followers are your "audience," and you try to cater to what your friends want to read, then they will always like you, and they'll always mean it. In other words: Be the Facebook post you wish to see in your news feed.

horse
Image: STFU Parents

Next up: Rule 3

{pageBreak}

Third rule: Consider your posting frequency. Do you post a picture of or story about your kid every single day? Do you participate in one of those "1,000 days of baby photos" challenges? (For those who do, posting a zillion times a day is anything but a "challenge.") Sure, your kid says cute things, but how many need to make it onto Facebook? This is when you should ask yourself if something your child did or said was actually priceless or just MasterCard-commercial priceless. What may seem amazing or adorable to you probably seems average to everyone else. Learn how to distinguish between posting content people want to see and flooding everyone you know with daily quips and photos or overly sentimental posts about how much you love your kids. Avoid updates that string together like the world's longest, most annoying baby book. Don't treat your social media feeds like an iPhoto dump. No one needs to see a whole gallery of pictures of your kids boarding a school bus or eating a watermelon. We get the picture.

obvious
Image: STFU Parents

This is the "Captain Obvious" of Facebook updates.

funny meme
Image: STFU Parents

The final rule to remember is that it's OK if your friends and relatives don't get a play-by-play of your child(ren)'s development. Don't feel guilty if you don't want to post a bunch of maternity pictures or birth pictures or birthday party pictures. Treating social media like a place to engage with friends rather than a place to express every opinion, share every memory and update everyone you've ever met on a daily basis is a healthier way to hang out on the internet. If your friends aren't liking your posts, maybe it's because they've seen too much. Maybe they're subtly telling you that despite enjoying your online (and, hopefully, real-life) presence, you've lost some of your identity to parenthood, and they'd like you to post about something else for a change.

More: I refuse to apologize for ignoring my kid

Some people post to the point of exhausting everyone in their news feed. Vacation pictures are a good example of this. Everyone knows what it's like to see multiple galleries of a trip to Hawaii. It's overkill. As long as you stay away from the dreaded TMI and monitor your posting habits, your friends will continue to be happy to see you in their feeds. And if they hide or block you, well, chances are that, deep down, you probably already know why.

Paris Jackson has a great tip for all the social media trolls: Unfollow her

0
0

Paris Jackson has made a lot of changes to her life since turning 18, and one of the most noticeable changes has been to her appearance: She's passionate about her tattoos (many of which honor her late father, Michael Jackson), and she's not afraid to share them on social media. But this has, at times, resulted in incredibly unfair backlash for Jackson, something which she decided to address in a thought-provoking Instagram post on Thursday.

More: How Paris Jackson honors her deceased father is none of your business

"I would very much like to address something here," she wrote in the caption accompanying a picture of herself and boyfriend, Michael Snoddy. "I realize that a very very large portion of the followers I have are people that highly dislike me and very much enjoy to write negative things about what i say and do. It's alarming and a little scary how a small thing I do blows up because the negative followers try to micromanage and control what I do, and there was something I did to piss them off that they don't agree with."

Jackson went on to describe the double standards that affect celebrities on social media, and when they retaliate to the hate or call someone out for their inappropriate actions, they are immediately labeled as being an "ungrateful bitch with an enormous ego and attitude." In fact, this sort of behavior has resulted in Jackson wanting to quit social media entirely.

"It's getting crazy again, like it did a few years ago when I took a three-year break from social media," Jackson wrote, adding, "the ridicule and slander that is on this site is no better, and usually even worse, than the awful things written in the tabloids. I find that very sad."

More: Paris Jackson is completely and utterly livid over those intervention rumors

She also told followers that she blocks anyone who says "rude or hurtful" things, but she's still made to justify her reasons for doing so. Which led Jackson to her final point: If you don't like who she is or what she stands for (even though she tries to do everything she can with "love and humor"), then the solution is pretty simple — "Please don't waste your time on me."

Jackson's post is very mature, and it's taken strength to admit that the hate does affect her. While we applaud her for taking such a strong stance against bullying, her post also serves as a reminder of just how harmful cyberbullying can be.

Celebrity or not, Jackson is human and has feelings just like the rest of us, and life is really too short to hate on people.

So, you don't like Paris Jackson's attitude? The solution is really quite simple: Unfollow her.

You're getting ripped off on pizza every time you order a small

0
0

Just because you aren't super hungry doesn't mean you should order a small pizza.

According to AsapSCIENCE, it's all in the equation. Buying a large pizza instead of a small saves you money in the long run, because it turns out (brace yourselves!) that a large 16-inch pizza is actually four times as big as an 8-inch small pizza.

More: 15 pizza crusts that will totally blow your mind

I know, to us laypeople it seems like the 16-inch pizza would be merely twice the size of an 8-inch one. But four times? That's just crazy! It turns out that a 16-incher has a total area of 200 square inches, while an 8-incher has only 50.

And, like, no large pizza is four times as expensive as a small (and if it is, probably no one is buying it). So even if you aren't hungry, you should totally spring for the large pizza. You'll get four times the food for just a little more money — your wallet (and, let's be honest, your mouth) will thank you.

You can watch the video explaining the equation below. I would say take my word for it, but my math knowledge is sadly not on par with my pizza knowledge... which is actually terrifyingly impressive.

Lisa Vanderpump gives us hope for a Lady Gaga & Taylor Kinney reunion

0

It's no secret we are holding out for a Lady Gaga and Taylor Kinney reunion, and the duo still has a lot of love and respect for each other, so it may just happen. But someone closer to the couple, Lisa Vanderpump, has since revealed how they're really holding up.

More: Lady Gaga's heartbreaking post on Taylor Kinney could actually be good news

Vanderpump recently weighed in on Gaga and Kinney's split during an interview with E! News' Melanie Bromley, and she basically hinted that this may not be the end for the couple. "It's sad about that [their split]...but you know what? You never know what's going to transpire," she confessed. "Sometimes people need to take a break."

More: Why was David Foster hanging out with Lisa Vanderpump and the RHOBH cast

When the news of the split broke, fans took to social media in droves to voice their love and support for Gaga, but they aren't the only ones who've been there for her, as Vanderpump reveals.

Gaga has "a lot of love and support from her family and close friends," Vanderpump said, but because she's a true friend she was careful not to give away too much information about Gaga, and simply referred to her as "an amazing woman."

However, in true Lisa Vanderpump style, she did joke about Kinney being really cute. And if he and Gaga don't get back together, well, then she has a few suggestions for how she'd like the future to pan out. She joked that she'd dump her "old husband and go run off with him." LOL.

More: Dear RHOBH producers: Lisa Vanderpump's return isn't enough to improve the show

She's such a joker and we totally love her personality, but back to the couple at hand: Do you think there is still hope of Taylor Kinney and Lady Gaga getting back together? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below.

'How long is it active?' and five more tough questions we still have about Zika

0
0

Four new cases of Zika have been confirmed in Florida as the first cases in the U.S. unrelated to travel near countries already hit with the virus. Even though mosquitoes in the area have not tested positive, the Florida Department of Health believes that's how these cases were transmitted.

Zika is quickly turning into a worldwide terror. And unfortunately, the news coverage is leaving us with a lot of scary questions we'd like answered.

It just takes one look at the heartbreaking pictures of the South American babies born with microcephaly to make you realize what a serious threat this. The virus hit a little closer to home when the CDC announced a total of 279 pregnant women have tested positive for Zika in either the U.S. or its territories, and now that it may be spreading through mosquitoes here at home, people are even more concerned.

More: Microcephaly: What moms need to know about the condition caused by Zika

What we do know

It's most common to get the disease from a bite from an infected mosquito, but you can also catch it from having sexual contact with an infected person. There is no vaccine for it (yet!), but once you've had it you have a lifelong immunity to it.

More: The Zika virus spreads through sex as well as mosquitoes

That's obviously not a lot of information. I reached out to the CDC for more details but they don't have a lot more to add right now. (Yet another reason we need Congress to approve more funding for this, stat!) Here are some questions we'd really like answered:

How long does it stay in your system?

Since people can test positive for it decades after having it, it appears that we retain at least an immune response to it. But can it affect us even after the initial infection has passed? The CDC says it's unknown at this time how long the effects will last as each person reacts a little differently to it. Most people get a very mild case — so mild they may not even know they have it!

I'm pregnant or wanting to get pregnant. Am I dooming my baby?

Right now it's unknown how frequently a mother with Zika passes it to her fetus or how frequently a fetus with Zika develops the birth defects. (It's definitely not 100 percent as many women have tested positive for the disease and gone on to have perfectly healthy babies!) The CDC offers no official recommendation except to say that women should practice safe sex and guard against mosquitoes during pregnancy or when attempting to get pregnant.

Will I ever be able to get pregnant if I've had Zika?

"Based on the available evidence, we think that Zika virus infection in a woman who is not pregnant would not pose a risk for birth defects in future pregnancies after the virus has cleared from her blood," says the CDC.

Are all Zika babies the same?

It does not appear that the birth defects are all equal in severity, with some babies experiencing severe, life-ending microcephaly while others don't have the microcephaly at all but do experience blindness, hearing loss and stunted growth, according to the CDC.

How worried should we be if our kids get it?

Zika kills almost no one. That's the good news. Most people just experience a fever, red eyes and a headache — kids included. But rarely it can lead to Guillain-Barré syndrome, an autoimmune disorder.

Will our kids be able to have babies later without danger?

I currently have a 19-year-old sister living in Brazil and I can tell you this is a big concern she and her friends there have. But good news, according to the CDC, it appears the virus does not have a long-lasting effect on fertility.

While we wait for more answers, the CDC adds it's best for all women to take extra precautions against mosquito bites, especially as North America is now headed into peak mosquito season. This includes not going out during daytime hours (as this is when the bugs are most active), wearing clothing that provides full coverage and using a repellent. The CDC recommends using only an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellent with one of the following active ingredients: DEET, picaridin, IR3535, oil of lemon eucalyptus or para-menthane-diol. They say that when used as directed, EPA-registered insect repellents are proven safe and effective, even for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Melissa Gorga shared a cute kid photo, so of course people are freaking

0

Many moms feel like our every parenting move get scrutinized and judged. Well, as it turns out, when it comes to having their parenting decisions questions, celebrities are just like us.

MoreNo, you really don't want your daughter to be the flower girl at a wedding

Real Housewives of New Jersey star Melissa Gorga is on vacation with her family this week. She took a gorgeous picture of her 10-year-old daughter, Antonia, standing by the edge of the water in a bikini and posted the image on Instagram, captioning it, "My little Italian beauty today."

gorga

gorga

Most of her followers saw the image for what it was — a perfectly innocent photo a mother took as she reflected on how quickly her little girl is growing up. But others were quick to criticize Gorga for allowing her daughter to wear a bikini. The slams ranged from suggesting Gorga was inviting predators to prey on her daughter by posting the image online to saying the bikini was too provocative.

There were also those who talked about how her father will have his hands full raising Antonia, which is more than a little annoying because being a pretty young girl doesn't necessarily mean you're going to grow up to be a rebellious teenager or that you need your dad to fight your battles for you.

More: I was threatened with CPS just for writing about kids

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Gorga allowing her daughter to wear a bikini or posting the image online. Millions of girls wear two-piece bathing suits; they're for sale in every single clothing store in the girl's section from February until mid-July, when they magically disappear to make room for backpacks and candy corn, even though there are still six weeks of pool season left. Plenty of girls younger than Antonia wear bikinis, and there are parents who don't think twice about posting those playful swimming pictures online, so she's far from an outlier here.

But beyond that, there is nothing sexual about this picture. The suit is tasteful and really quite cute. All of her bits and pieces are fully covered (and then some, thanks to that fringe skirt). She's not jutting out a hip or thrusting out her chest or trying to emulate any other sort of pose you might see on the cover of a fashion magazine. She's not even making the duck-lip pout face for crying out loud! It's simply a photo of a beautiful young girl, standing in the water, with her hair blowing in the breeze.

More: My home-schooled kids are nothing like the ones you see on TV

We need to stop trying to read into things and sexualize images that aren't intended to be sexual. If this photo makes you uncomfortable, the problem isn't with Gorga or her family, it's with you.

In a new cover story for Billboard, Shelton admitted that he wishes the election would never end because it's "one of the most addictive, entertaining things I have seen in my life." And while he isn't straight-up telling who he's going to cast his ballot for, he has some praise for one of the major candidates — the one who just secured the Republican nomination to run, Donald Trump.

"I'm not going to have the political conversation with you about Trump, or about Hillary Clinton, but I will tell you this: Whether you love him or hate him, he says what he thinks, and he has proven that you don't always have to be so afraid," Shelton said. "A lot of people are pulling for him, no matter how much Hollywood fights it. I see people who don't like him go and beat up people that do like him. You tell me, who's crazy here? ... I probably wish there was another option, but there's not."

More: Blake Shelton & Gwen Stefani's disagreement over hunting isn't a big deal

OK, so it's not exactly an endorsement. But it doesn't sound like Shelton is exactly opposed to a Trump presidency, either.

Later, however, Shelton responded via Twitter to news outlets that were reporting that he basically admitted he was voting for Trump.

"Hey before this gets going like it always does... I haven't enforced [sic] ANYBODY for president," he wrote. "And I not going to. I don't do that shit."

Blake Shelton didn't actually endorse Donald Trump

Still, Shelton's comments came across to plenty of people as an endorsement for Trump. After seeing his interview, actress Debra Messing tweeted at Gwen Stefani, Shelton's girlfriend, "please talk to your man to not vote for the person who will STRIP you of your rights."

When Shelton tweeted back denying that he was voting Trump, Messing deleted her tweet and apologized. Shelton replied, "Thank you sis.. I don't endorse anybody. For this very reason!!"

The Bachelorette: Men Tell All gets it wrong about love

0
0

The main focus of The Bachelorette is to fall in love fast enough that filming can capture it for a reasonable proposal by the end of the show. But in the real world, this is not always how true love can form, but it doesn't mean falling in love slower is any less real or magical. Lesson of this season: Don’t discount someone because he is less expressive or shows love more slowly than his louder counterparts; you might miss out on great people. Two great examples of this are the last two men sent home from this season whose stories we saw in the Men Tell All special.

Chase and Luke showed their declaration of love in a way that did not look as loud as the others but were genuine feelings and just as meaningful as anyone else.

Luke told us in Men Tell All that he was shocked when JoJo sent him home. He told Chris Harrison that he should have been more expressive with her instead of waiting until later (compared to the others) to tell her that he loved her. He said he was looking for a lifetime moment to say "I love you." He and Harrison both agreed that he has to tell someone his feelings a lot sooner than he did on this TV show. Harrison told him to not miss the moment next time. JoJo told Luke that she struggled with him not saying the word "love" in the last night they were together, so she had to follow her gut. But I as a marriage and family therapist, I could not disagree more with this statement. I think Luke’s timing was genuine and was right for him. I applaud him for taking his time and wanting to see the relationship develop instead of just saying the words when he was not ready. He should be praised for this. But, here again we see pressure to voice strong words before someone is ready to verbalize it.

Chase, who was sent home during the fantasy date, had more challenges throughout the season opening up about his feelings. When he finally told her that he loves her, she sent him home in that moment. He told Harrison that he was also shocked to be sent home and did not see that coming after getting the fantasy suite, as that seemed misleading to him. He says he did not understand and was confused by the timing of events.

JoJo told Chase that she felt anxious. Chase wanted to know why she has to hear the word "love" and not just feel it. He makes a really great point here about saying verbal words and doing actions that might speak louder than words. He ended the discussion in a great way, saying that he learned a lot, which is a great comment Chase shared with her.

The lesson is that if you are looking for love, try not to discount someone just because he has a challenge sharing verbal emotional communications; the actions are significantly more important. Anyone can say the words "love," but showing love is just as important. Look for this action or behavior, and the verbal communication can grow if he has difficulty saying the words at first. Give him a chance.

David Foster is wasting no time moving on from Yolanda Hadid

This may be bad news for Yolanda Hadid: Her ex-husband, David Foster, appears to be moving on.

More: Why was David Foster hanging out with Lisa Vanderpump and the RHOBH cast

Fans of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills know that Hadid was devastated and heartbroken by her divorce from Foster. It's been no secret that she wants him back, but that ship may have sailed — according to OK! magazine, he's been spotted out and about with a mystery blond woman.

Music producer Foster was seen leaving Craig's, a hotspot in West Hollywood, earlier this week with the mystery woman in tow. She hasn't been identified, but at least we know she's not another Real Housewife.

The sighting happened on the exact same day that Foster's two daughters, Erin and Sara, gave an interview saying they expect him to get married again at some point.

More: Maybe Yolanda Foster's sexy music video is bad, but she didn't make it for you

"We just want him to be happy," Erin told listeners on KIIS FM. "We love when he is married, in a relationship. He is at his happiest when he is in a relationship. He will definitely get married again. He loves being married. Lucky No. 5!"

Sara added, "Erin and I just want someone who’s going to make him a smoothie and is going to bring him some vitamins in the morning. That’s all we’re looking for."

Hadid and Foster's split was documented on RHOBH as she battled complications with Lyme disease. They were married four years before announcing their divorce in January. According to her kids, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Yolanda doesn't plan to return to the next season of the show, instead deciding to focus on her health and moving on from her failed marriage.

The best ways to cook scrambled eggs if you really, really love them

0
0

I am obsessed with scrambled eggs. I cook at least two dozen every weekend for my tiny family of three humans, and I'm not even exaggerating. That's a dozen eggs per breakfast, no leftovers. I'm that serious about my egging. When I'm not eating and cooking them, I'm pestering my colleagues about their scrambled egg tips. So let's just say I know a thing or two about a thing or two.

Herewith, our collective scrambled egg wisdom.

More: How long eggs really stay good in the refrigerator

Nonstick eggs without the nonstick pan

I never use nonstick pans, because they are poison Frisbees. Instead, I use either a well-seasoned cast-iron pan or a stainless steel frying pan. To keep the eggs from sticking, I bring my eggs to room temperature before cooking them, usually by placing the whole eggs in a bowl of hot water for 10 minutes or so. It also helps if you undercook your eggs and if you use a silicone scraper instead of a spatula.

Scramble in a bowl first

If you really give a damn, you're not going to crack your eggs directly into a hot pan. Instead, you'll crack your eggs into a bowl and scramble them before pouring them into your pan.

When to salt

This is highly controversial. Gordon Ramsay says to salt only at the very end. I've salted before, during and after cooking, and I haven't noticed a difference. Salt when you want to.

Use a silicone scraper instead of a spatula

This is a much better tool for keeping the eggs moving around the pan as you cook them.

Go low

We all know this, right? Use low heat for the best scrambled eggs. I cheat just a little and warm up the pan on medium, then lower it right after I add the eggs. If I see them cooking too quickly, I'll move the pan off the heat until things calm down.

For fluffy eggs, air

If you want fluffy eggs, you need to work some air into them. So whisk vigorously in the bowl, and then keep whisking with a silicone scraper as you cook.

For creamy eggs, fold

You'll want to whisk your eggs well before cooking them again. But the movement while you cook is a little slower — you're scraping along the bottom of the pan and turning them over for those larger curds.

Butter, butter, butter

Some people like to put a little milk or cream in their eggs. I go with butter — a sick amount of butter. I'll add about 1/2 tablespoon per egg. After whisking your eggs in a bowl, take a cold stick from the refrigerator, grate the butter directly into your bowl, and then whisk again.

Extra yolk

Because YOLO, I add an extra yolk or two for extreme creaminess. Just do it. You won't be sorry.

Forget the ketchup

Try topping with sriracha or harissa and prepare to have your eyes opened to the wide world of flavor. Also: Maldon salt.

Undercook those eggs

Don't keep cooking your eggs until they're good and cooked within an inch of their lives, with the driest curds that ever cursed eggdom. Stop just before you think your eggs are done, and prepare yourself to enjoy how much lighter or fluffier they are. Seriously, I couldn't even find a stock photo of eggs that weren't torture-cooked practically to the point of pebbles. You don't have to do that.

Bain marie challenge

Say you find yourself all alone, with no hungry bellies depending on you and with all the time in the world. This is a good time to attempt the ultimate egg hack. This is where you cook your eggs in a bain marie — a bowl nestled in a pan of hot water. It takes forever, but it's amazing.

Good eggs

Don't you hate it when people tell you to buy the highest-quality anything, like you're made of money? Like you can just go and spend $6 on those blue, pasture-raised eggs at the farmers market? Well, here's the bad news: Those eggs really do taste better. I know, life is so unfair! But there's a whole range of quality between those eggs and the ones on sale for a buck a dozen. You buy the eggs you can afford, and enjoy them.

The best Islamic baby boy names are rich in history

Mohammed (and its numerous variant spellings including Mohammad, Muhammed and Muhammad) is the most popular baby boy name in the world — and one made famous by a certain boxing legend, who was born Cassius Marcellus Clay but changed his name to Muhammad Ali after converting to Islam.

In fact, there are more than 500 names for the Arab prophet who founded the Muslim religion, which explains the Muslim saying, "If you have a hundred sons, name them all Muhammad."

RHOC's Meghan Edmonds deserves more from her husband during her pregnancy

What's going on with Meghan King Edmonds and her husband during her pregnancy?

More: Brooks Ayers' 'cancer' wasn't Vicki Gunvalson's fault, so stop already

According to Radar Online, The Real Housewives of Orange County star Meghan Edmonds' husband, Jim, has been giving her a little bit of the cold shoulder while they're expecting their baby girl.

"He is definitely checked out and she doesn't know what to do," a source told the site. "She's pushing and he's pulling away."

The reason? It may be Meghan's latest pregnancy.

"Obviously, he just doesn't seem excited about having another kid," the insider dished, adding that Jim Edmonds actually had a vasectomy before Meghan got pregnant again via in vitro fertilization. "He was done having kids. He told everybody that."

More: Meghan Edmonds is RHOC's most compelling Housewife

Meghan herself has admitted that Jim hasn't been particularly active in this pregnancy. She wrote on her Bravo blog that he has been "removed" from the daughter they're expecting.

"I was really disappointed in Jimmy’s lack of sentiment throughout my IVF process," she wrote. "And honestly, there were moments I was questioning if getting pregnant was even the right choice. Now that I am pregnant, he is so happy and excited for our baby girl to come, but at the same time I still think he’s removed."

She added, "He’s more excited about decorating the nursery and buying a stroller: things that are needed for a real life baby, not one in utero."

But the source close to Meghan said she's getting desperate for her husband's attention, and that when she posts bikini-clad baby bump photos on social media, she just wants him to take notice.

"They haven’t really been around each other that much… and he seems so distracted," the insider said. "She just wants the attention period. She’s obsessive about the IVF because she feels that’s a way to get attention."

OMG, is Lindsay Lohan's dad done weighing in on her pregnancy?

0
0

Lindsay Lohan’s dad, Michael, is at it again, insisting that his daughter is pregnant. Never mind that it isn’t his business to talk about her pregnancy or that she’s ignored the topic completely — he’s sure she’s pregnant.

This week, pictures emerged of Lindsay on a yacht, smoking and drinking with her friends. Completely normal for you to do if you’re a grown woman and just had a very stressful week full of boyfriend drama. Not normal or a good idea if you’re pregnant. Most people took it as a sign that Lindsay is definitely not pregnant.

More: Michael Lohan convinced Lindsay smokes crack or meth

Michael insisted she is, though, and that the pictures tell an incorrect story. He told People, "She's not drinking, she was smoking and I talked to her about that.

Am I the only one who was under the impression that Lindsay hasn't listened to her parents since 2007?

Earlier this week, Michael said, "The last communication that I had was she told me she was pregnant. I don't know anything other than that. I believe my daughter. I don't think she'd lie to me about something like that. But yeah, she's smoking. She smoked a cigarette — I'm not saying it's right that she smokes, but it happened."

More: We're pretty sure Michael Lohan wasn't supposed to out Lindsay Lohan's pregnancy

He also insisted that Lindsay is completely sober. He said, "Every time I've talked to her she's been sober, every single time. And the good friends that are around her have told me she's not drinking. I know that she's not drinking."

Here’s the thing. Michael either has no idea what a woman has to do to take care of herself and her baby during pregnancy, or he thinks his daughter is a terrible person. Either way, we should not be listening to him.

More: Father of the century Michael Lohan set to be dad again

There’s no world where Lindsay’s friends let her act the way she’s acting if she were really pregnant. They may be rich and have few responsibilities, but they’re not monsters. And Michael using this as his chance to give his career some new life is terrible. Someone please tell him to go away.

Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher are far from done growing their family

Mila Kunis isn't ready to slow down.

More: Everyone loves Mila Kunis' 'makeup-free' cover, but guys, she's not makeup-free

She and her husband, Ashton Kutcher, are already parents to a 1-year-old daughter, Wyatt, and their second child is on the way. But will they stop there? It doesn't look likely.

Kunis did a new interview with Ryan Seacrest during his radio show this week and admitted that, as she's pregnant with her second child, she's already thinking about the possibility of a third.

"I’ve always said this. I think you know when your family is complete. After we had Wyatt, the second that I gave birth, I was like, ‘I know that we need to have another baby,'" she told Seacrest. "We both knew it. We just felt it."

She continued, "And so I always say after the second one, we’ll know if we need to have another one. I really do believe you know when your family is complete."

More: Insider reveals Mila Kunis & Ashton Kutcher are planning baby No. 2

That means Kunis' break from acting may continue for some time. She's been open about how she and Kutcher waited until she could take a break from working to focus on having kids and raising their family. She's also said she now turns down jobs when they're offered because, for the time being, she's completely committed to being a full-time mom.

With that also comes some other challenges, she admitted during her appearance on Seacrest's show — like trying to break her cursing habit.

"It’s so hard," she said. "I try to work on it daily and my daughter is at a place where she’ll mimic the words that I say, so it didn’t really matter up until, like, two months ago when I said a certain word and she said it back."

We're sure you'll figure it out, Mila.

Eek: Footage emerges of Aubrey O'Day calling Hitler & murderers 'brilliant'

0

Aubrey O’Day isn’t known for keeping her opinions to herself. If she thinks something, you’re definitely going to know it immediately. Normally, that’s not a bad thing. But her opinion that Hitler was a brilliant man probably didn't need to be shared.

Aubrey O'Day Hitler talk

Aubrey O'Day Hitler talk

More: Aubrey O'Day quits Celebrity Apprentice for church

A video has resurfaced of O’Day telling Fox News that although she doesn’t condone what Hitler did “one ounce,” he is a brilliant man. But she didn’t stop there. She said, “I think many murderers are brilliant people.”

Yikes.

Back when this clip first aired, O'Day tried to explain what she meant on the show with a statement that said, ''Murderers and dictators generally are some of the smartest people out there — they just use their brain power for evil purposes. I don't condone any of their evil behavior, but I was asked about their intellectual firepower. And in my opinion you can't have a low IQ and wreak that much havoc on the world.”

More: "Slut" Aubrey O'Day tells tales of virginity lost

O’Day has a point in saying that unintelligent people probably wouldn’t be able to create a movement. Change usually starts with a smart person at the front of the movement. But it’s probably better to say Hitler wasn’t stupid than to say he was brilliant. The man had millions of innocent people killed for no reason. Brilliant isn’t a word we should use to talk about him.

Consider, however, that the video is from 10 years ago, when O’Day was 22 years old. If people started bringing up what any of us said and did at 22, we would all be in a constant state of horror. It’s not fair to start hating on her for it now — but it is important to remember that in the age of the internet, nothing ever goes away.

Don’t be afraid to use the extra second it takes to think about exactly what you want to say and the best way to say it.

Also, just as a general rule, don’t say nice things about Hitler. I think we can all agree on that.

Shannen Doherty breaks down talking about breast cancer and it's too real

Shannen Doherty let the world see a really intimate moment when she shaved her head last week and shared the pictures on Instagram. Now, she's opening up even more about her fight against breast cancer in an exclusive interview set to air on Entertainment Tonight on Monday, Aug. 1.

The trailer is tear-jerking.

Shannen Doherty interview

Shannen Doherty interview

For any woman who's been through cancer, lost someone to cancer or even almost lost someone to cancer, it's going to be especially emotional to watch.

"I started thinking that I wasn't going to live... I don't look past today," she admits. And you just want to crumble. It's rare to see celebrities shows their raw emotions, and that's what makes this so bittersweet. She has a great platform to share her struggle and inspire other women; we just wish she didn't have the struggle to begin with.

More: The breast cancer symptom that's easy to miss (and looks harmless)

Doherty also touches on the very real struggle of identity during cancer treatment. We usually hear more about chemo and radiation and mastectomies — all tough pills to swallow — but we don't talk as often about the fact that cancer can so easily strip your identity.

"I don't know if I'll ever look like me again," she says. When you face things like losing your breasts and your hair, and those things have been part of you for decades, you have to redefine your sense of self. No easy feat.

"I want to believe that if I fight, I'm going be OK," she says. Knowing that has to be a hard spirit to keep up because we're only human, it's nice to see that she has support from her family and friends to believe it for her even if she's not feeling so positive.

More: 7 things to know about the new groundbreaking breast cancer treatment

Doherty's Beverly Hills 90210 co-star Jason Priestley spoke out this week, telling Entertainment Tonight, "What she did the other day, shaving her head and posting the pictures and everything, that was incredibly brave. Shannen's a strong kid and a tough fighter, and I know that she's going to come through this fight and she's going to be OK."

The trailer teases a new development in her diagnosis, and our hearts are beaming out to Doherty right now.
